This Lenovo P12 tablet is a replacement for an identical tablet that developed a screen display fault within the first few days of use. The fault was a straight black line accross the screen which was not rectified even by a Factory Reset. These kind of hardware faults can appear unexpectedly on any Tablet for no known reason. I am most grateful to Gadget Tree for excellent customer service and speedy replacement of the Tablet. First impression of the Tablet is that it looks and feels like good quality in the hand, and looks bigger than the average 10.5 screen. The screen size is perfect for displaying my violin sheet music as the screen size is equivalent to an A4 paper sheet music without margins. The Lenovo P12 tablet has an anti-reflective screen which means you’re not staring at your reflection and can view the tablet in bright sunshine. The 3K screen means that movies are in high resolution and the excellent audio when using headphones gives a great cinematic experience. The built-in speakers sound good on their own. There are many useful Lenovo features in this Tablet that at are additional to the Android 16 software. The Pen and handwriting recognition are excellent, and great for doodling. I’m a musician and use the pen for annotating sheet music PDFs. I have a sheet music Bluetooth page turner pedal that works perfectly with the tablet. However, there are very few Microphone stand Tablet holders that will hold the Tablet in landscape mode with support on the lower edge. I therefore adapted a holder by adding support for the lower edge of the Tablet to prevent it slipping and falling on the floor. And also added a couple of cable ties to prevent the Tablet rotating and falling out the holder. It’s really important to ensure that the Tablet is held securely in any holder. Gadget Tree do sell Lenovo mic stand Tablet holders for the P12 but they are very expensive. (I also bought a protective case and screen protector but these won’t prevent the screen. breaking if the P12 lands from a height on concrete). The Tablet is very slim but sturdy, and has a glass screen rather than plastic. There is an SD card slot which I use to store backups of sheet music and backing tracks, just in case a fault develops and the Tablet requires to be replaced. When first configuring the Tablet there is an option to transfer data from another Android device, which makes the Tablet setup and configuration process much faster. As with most Tablets these days, there’s no earphone socket, which is not a deal breaker as I use Bluetooth headphones with Bluetooth 5 and have no problems with latency. You can also buy a USB C to TRRS jack plug on Gadget Tree if you need a cable connection to headphones or to Amp/speakers, (which I use to play backing tracks / accompaniment when I’m busking with electric violin). Battery life is good as long as your not screen mirroring, which drains the battery much faster. I would award the p12, 5 stars were it not for faults that I experienced on the P11 (battery charging fault) and a screen fault on the previous P12. I award 4 stars because the Tablet generally performs well. 3 people found this helpful

This is very much a first impressions review, as I haven’t had this lens long, but long enough to see what a fantastic lens it is. I use it on a full-frame camera (D800), so it doubles as a slightly long standard lens as well as a macro lens – and it seems to be great in both roles, producing beautifully sharp images. The autofocus is extremely quiet, although I don’t use it much. It’s fast and accurate when using the lens as a standard lens, but I can’t comment on how good the autofocus is when using it for macro, as I haven’t tried it – for macro, I always focus manually. Ergonomically, it’s a nice lens to use, fits nicely in the hand and the manual focusing is very smooth. Construction feels very solid, but as a result it’s quite heavy, so is maybe better balanced on a full-frame camera. One unexpected benefit for me is that the front of the lens is completely black, with nothing printed on it – I do a lot of photography through glass, so not having anything that can create reflections is nice. I would highly recommend this lens, and at the price (under £400 on Gadget Tree) it’s hard to beat – the Zeiss equivalent might possibly be better, but is the difference – even on a D800 – worth another £700? 12 people found this helpful
