September 2016 Size Name: 67 mm Verified Purchase Bought this filter to use with my Zeiss lens; I have used B+W filters before and have always been very pleased with the quality of build. Highly recommended. I tried this filter with my Leica M lens and camera and failed to notice any difference with or without it in any position. This is not to say that it’ll be the same on other camera makes or models. It could be that Leica’s Apochromatically corrected Aspheric lens’s already deliver what this filter suppose to do I’ve given 3 stars thinking that B+W should have tested the filter with various camera and lens and have produced compatibility list but it looks like they’re not interested. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 March 2020 Size Name: 86 mm Verified Purchase I could hardly believe it when I held this top class filter up to the light that there were smear marks covering virtually the whole of the rear surface of the front glass(see pictures). I don’t know how these marks will affect image quality, but it is of course impossible to clean these marks off as they are on the inside surface of the polarising filter. I requested a return and a replacement, but when it arrived the replacement was equally disappointing. Just like with the first filter, the rear of the front glass was covered in marks, only this time it was scratches instead of smear marks(see pictures). Again, I am not sure how these marks will affect image quality but from a company that boasts about flawless surfaces on its filters this is surely unacceptable. In all other respects these filters are great, solidly built etc but who wants their filters to be covered in smear marks and scratches. The replacement filter was returned for a refund. November 2024 Style Name: SEL40F25G Pattern Name: Single Verified Purchase } Sachin L Great and compact Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 June 2024 Style Name: SEL40F25G Pattern Name: Single Verified Purchase Bought this to have a compact lens and it does what I need. I have this paired with an A7 III and it’s so much lighter than if I had a Tamron 28-75 G2 attached. I can mostly shoot with just one hand. I also use the APS-C/Super 35 Mode to get a 60mm range. Image quality is great and sharp, just what you’d expect with a G lens. I read some comments where people were saying this is pretty much a GM lens, but I don’t have any knowledge of that. The 40mm focal range is so natural and I’m glad I went with it over the 35mm. My main dislike is the lens hood, and I wish it was the more traditional one like the one the 24mm version has.
