February 2021 Pattern Name: Single Colour Name: Black Verified Purchase 1ST IMPRESSIONS Lovely packaging very professional. SOUND: really good clear sound for me on my brand-new computer. I can hear through them that’s good enough for me. COMFORT: No problems so far although I haven’t used them for longer than 2 hours at a time. Once I have them on I don’t really notice they are on my ears. Plus they are padded so keeps my ears warm (a bonus in the winter). NOISE-CANCELLING: can’t comment on the noise-cancelling feature of these headphones as I wouldn’t know about that. I’m not very technical on these matters. I just turn them low if I want to hear what’s going on around me and turn them up if I don’t. But I presume that’s the same as any other headphones USAGE: On my computer, I only have one 3.5mm Jack Port on my computer. These headphones come with two 3.5mm Jacks so I needed to buy a splitter. Would be great if the seller would sell these with the option for a splitter for those who need it or at least recommended a number of splitters that work for this headset so that I would know which one to buy. Splitters all look the same to me (I’m not technical!!) and I found shopping for a splitter really difficult – I made the mistake of buying the wrong one which didn’t work with this headset (see photo). MICROPHONE: can’t comment – not been able to use it for my meetings yet (need to buy a working splitter). OVERALL: good headset – I would buy again just for the sound alone – although it would be great if I could actually use/test the microphone. Read more CALUM Good Sound!! I’ve had these for a little over 24 hours now so this is an early review. If anything substantial changes I’ll come back and add more. I bought one of the nearly new X2HR headsets and I was a little nervous I would get a return for some of the reasons in other reviews such as one sided volume or glued on pads but negative to either of those issues. These arrived in as good a condition you would expect for nearly new. They had a bit of dust on the ear pads but they attract it so I was not surprised but other than that as new in original box with all the ancils, that makes me happy as I saved over £25! The headphones themselves are very well made, weighty and robust and look cool and modern. The cable is a braided type like you get on decent gaming keyboards and doesn’t tangle up from what I’ve experienced so far. Comfort wise they are a little tight right now but not so much that I’m desperate to take them off and I am sure over time they will loosen off a little. They fit over my ears really well and feel very securely in place on my head. The cushions are comfortable and it’s easy to position them For optimal tone. Sound wise I am coming from a set of AKG K702’s which are great headphones in their own right so I will compare them occasionally to them. My frustration with the 702’s was a slight lack of bass. I have a good iFi DAC which can drive a good amount of bass but the AKGs struggle a little when you crank the metal on with a little too much distortion so I was looking for something with as close a sound stage and clear crisp sound as the AKGs but more bass. The X2’s are filling the gap. I have spent a good couple of hours tweaking the EQ on my computer to get the optimal tone for me and I’m pretty close to where I want to be and they are handling it fine. I’ve got clear crisp hi freqs and nice deep and thumping bass with just enough miss to be clear and not lost but not too much. The bass is great on these, it really is. I don’t get any distortion when pumping through bass at high volume. They somehow manage it but maintain good clean upper freqs. The downsides are very minimal, to me they don’t sound as open as the AKGs but not by much. They are fine for gaming although they will never beat the AKGs for the width of soundstage. Some of the instruments sound a little muffled to my ear but I’m being very picky. Overall I’m really happy with my purchase and look forward to many more hours of listening to tunes through these. Edit: after having these for nearly a week and a half and spending many hours with them I’m really very happy with them. They are a different tone to the AKGs (I’ve also been comparing them to AKG 7xx as well as 702’s) and I’m now preferring them (X2’s) for music. I’ve pretty much nailed the EQ for them and I’m getting great (an I mean oodles of) bass and it’s nice, punchy and clean. The highs are great as well, the 702’s prob pip them their but only by a tiny amount. They are slightly more “closed” than the AKGs but the sheer energy of the music compared to the clinical and laid back AKGs is infectious. I don’t think the perfect headphones exist but damn these are mine so far! I’m getting a pair of Senn 6xx’s in the next few days so will do a bit of a 3 way comparison. 18 people found this helpful

Bought these at a promotion price of £70 and that’s what the rating is based on after using them for a month. Other headphones I own are budget friendly ones in the £20 to £40 price bracket. What’s noteworthy about these Philips headphones in comparison to them is: 1. Much better build quality 2. Very comfortable fit on my small head but you wouldn’t want to be doing anything energetic with them on. 3. Sound quality wise, very pleasant. They work very well with my Soundblaster GC7 DAC that I have them plugged into. My other headphone are all closed back so these open back take a little getting use to. At first they won’t sound as impactful but you hear a lot more subtle detail compared to my other headphones. For example, listening to the composer Ludovico Einaudi you can hear the individual key presses on the piano from start and finish. They also sound great with synths and electronic music in general. With rock music the improvement over my other headphones is less obvious. I would say these headphones are decent value at £70 but I wouldn’t pay anymore than that for them (they go on offer quite frequently). If you could get them for £50 then that would be a real bargain and would score 5 out of 5 stars at that price, but at £70 they get 4 out of 5. One person found this helpful

Ordered these when on offer at £67.99. This is my first pair of open back headphones and pulled the trigger on the X2HR’s after reading numerous 5 star reviews. My primary use is paired with my seperates system. After a week of ownership I pleased to say that they have exceeded all of my expectations. I’m not an audiophile but appreciate good sound reproduction and these definately fit the bill. They are ‘massive’ but extremely comfortable at the same time due to the head band design and memory foam ear pads. As a first time user of open back headphones I did find the audio leakage slightly ‘odd’ however this is not a concern in the slightest as I primarily use them for listening at night so i dont disturb the rest of the household. This allows me to listen to detail which wouldn’t be possible through my hifi speakers when used at lower volume. I love the 3m cable, allowing me to easily move to my record/cd collection without removing the headphones. Also the fact that they use a non-propietary jack with 3.5mm standard. I purchased a usb c to 3.5mm jack for use with my Samsung, however I will likely opt for a shorter cable when using my phone. Yes there will be better out there, but will there be better for the money? Regardless, I am extremely happy with my purchase and would not hesitate to recommend these to anyone.

I have a few pairs of headphones; different types, both wired, wireless and IEMs. I decided to spend some birthday money on a dac/amp and headphones and what I was missing was the sound you get from open backed designs. I have to say I have been so impressed with these. Clarity and richness across the range. Great bass but not at the expense of vocals. There is room to really hear the entirety of a song without losing any of the elements. It really is like listening to your music anew. They do leak sound, but that’s the point with open back headphones, they feel immersive without being stifling. Really excellent, especially at this price, where they sound better than our wireless cans costing £250. Honestly! Love em! One person found this helpful

February 2021 Verified Purchase Makes the X-pro 2 much more comfortable to hold for extended periods and makes the user feel more confident in not dropping the camera! The Arca tripod mount is appreciated, however, if you use a metabones speed booster or any lens with a tripod mount, you must remove the mount on the lens or it will not fit on the camera. There is a notch on the bottom right of the grip that acts as an attachment point for a hand strap. This is a great idea, I might considering the JJC or spiderlight hand strap for this purpose. It’s pretty obvious he had a BMPCC 4k with the Sigma 18-35 and a speed booster. It is a classic set up after all and a total pain to balance. When it comes to Gimbals the camera and lens are the levers and the effect of sliding the Camera Plate forward or back is to take weight from one side of the balance and add it to the other side. The further out on the axis the weight, the greater its effect. Which is why it often feels like it’s on a knife edge and just a microscopic position change will make it front or back heavy . Smallrig make another set of Gimbal counter weights but they are designed for the elbow of the gimbal arm. How do they compare? This set easily wins. With a Gimbal you need static and dynamic balance, What it means in practice that the further out the weight is the greater its effect on dynamic stability. This counterweight adds weight at the core where its needed, unlike the earlier model and its way easier to fine tune the balance. Because the balance is done near the core, the gimbal performs better. It’s a rather clever design for both static and dynamic balance isn’t it, well thought out.
