I always wanted to get a SSD to replace my old 1 TB hard drive. I waited until prices went down and purchased the Crucial BX500 during the Labor Day sale. Even though it is not the fastest next to the MX500 and the Samsung Evo, it runs fast for me. I am still amazed how fast Windows 10 loads up compared to my old 1 TB hard drive. Before, I hated reboots because it took too long, now, I have no problems waiting a few seconds for it to boot up. I highly recommend this for people starting out with the SSD. Then later, get the MX500 or Samsung EVO.

I would not stray from using this one again. It is plenty fast, it just isnt as fast as some SSDs Ive used, and justifiably so, the price is very competitive. The unit itself feels cheap in the hands due to the light plastic construction, but once installed it feels very secure and looks great. Buy with confidence.

I got this because my last SSD was too small for software development. So far, this one is working great, and Im not even using half the space yet. Its not supposed to be as fast as the Samsung SSD that it replaced, but I dont see any difference in speed when Im compiling my projects.Highly recommended.

After installing the drive and ensuring that it is recognized in BIOS, I booted into Windows 10 and the drive was nowhere to be seen on windows explorer. It does show up under device manager, but going into the properties and looking at events it showed that the device not migrated. After consulting the scant and useless hieroglyphics that came with the drive, a couple of hours of googling led me to use the disk management tool. Type disk management in the search box and click on the create and format hard disk partitions. This will open a tool that will allow you to create a partition on the drive and assign a drive letter. This is not really a big deal, but it was mentioned NOWHERE on the documentation or on the support site. I dont appreciate wasting my time researching how to install a product I just bought because the documentation it came with was so woefully inadequate.

plugged in this ssd via USB housing from another external hdd, then cloned hdd using acronis. I was cautioned to do a fresh install of Windows, but I aint gotntime for that. Cloning went fine, no issues.

I bought the 1TB version to replace my 250GB Samsung EVO 840 originally fitted. After an uneventful clone, boot times to the desktop were erratic and significantly slower than my original drive. I thought that a clean install might cure this but after populating the install with my usual programs this took over a day the same symptoms were displayed. I can only assume this is due to the inferior transfer rates to the Samsung, particularly the random IOPS.With hindsight I should have paid a bit more for the Samsung EVO 860 1TB. I am now using the crucial as a secondary drive. Lesson learned

Remember, ANY SSD is faster than ANY HDD. So if you are still booting from an HDD buy these, be amazed at the difference and live a better life. When I say they seem to be slow Im comparing them to much more expensive Samsung EVO and PRO series that I normally purchase and Intel SSDs that I occasional purchase. I am not benchmarking them, just going on feel during use. Cant beat the price and warranty combination and they are perfect in the application in which I use them.

Yes I would recommend this Crucial BX series 2.5 SSD to anyone on a budget needing a quality drive for the money. If youre gaming you may want to consider a higher end SSD with faster max read write speeds. Its a great drive for dual booting Windows and Linux perhaps like I do as well.

Using in an external USB 3.0 case. Offloading all my spinning drive data from across numerous backup drives to this. Of course, much less weight and space taken up by this SSD versus the 8 HDD I have offloaded to it so far. More to come and lots more space available. Happy so far, and only had it for a few weeks.

Bought this to clone the OS drive of a desktop PC thats a few years old. Thanks to my favorite free cloning software and an external 2.5 USB enclosure the upgrade was a breeze. Popped out the 3.5 HDD, used a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter purchased seperately this unit does not come with one and booted right up.Much faster load times. Ive never had any issues with Crucial products.

Great drive at a great price. I used quite a lot of Crucial drives in my life and they are great. For only couple dozen of dollars more youll get far superior performance than cheap Chinese brands. If youre on a budget but want a great SDD save on a couple of coffees. And get this instead of KingNoNameWhatever brand.

I have used a couple of these drives over the past few years, and theyve proved to be excellent value for money. Most recent was for a desktop I was refurbishing for someone. These drives are an excellent enhancement over a traditional spinning HDD, and would be suited to either a desktop or laptop.

I bought this SSD to run my games from. There is nothing to say besides its fast and works beautifully. You really arent going to see much improvement over this SSD for games. Yes there are faster modules out there, but unless you have a real need, the benefit doesnt fit the cost. This is as fast as it needs to be for games. Running an Operating system on this SSD would be fine. I personally use a faster model for that, Im just saying, it would be a huge improvement over any platter drive and its cost is at a sweet spot.

I installed brand new windows 10 on both that failed. After a few months they would be unrecognizable. I tried to plug them in to 4 different pcs and re install windows and both drives would error out. Even on a working pc they would not recognize the drives when plugged in. One would work for 12 weeks and then suddenly it would be gone.

Installed without issues. Moved from a HDD of 3TB that was beginning to fail various sectors being defective… after scandisk etc would reappear. Anyway, new disk went in fine. The software for cloning worked fine, though it did take like 16 hours because of the bad sectors on the old drive. New drive works well so far. This drive is where I have most of my game installs for steam, Ubisoft and other clients. Plus some other odds and ends.

Slipped right in to a Lenovo Allinone, although I used some styrofoam shims and double stick tape to keep it in place. Since they are only a couple ounces, it worked fine. BIOS recognized it immediately 7 year old machine and Win 10 loaded smoothly. Works fine weeks later.

Just to be clear from the beginning, Ive been a fan of WD and Intel for years. I would guess Ive probably upgraded 1520 computers to SSDs from these two brands for friends and family in the last 34 years. However, I didnt want to get stuck in a rut, so I decided to try a Crucial SSD in one of my older laptops that I wanted to upgrade. The drive arrived on time, and was packaged well. However, this drive seems so much flimsier than comparable WD and Seagate drives that Ive used. Once I started screwing the drive into the caddy, one of the screws cracked the housing of the drive as it started threading in. I cant say Ive ever had that happen before. I put a dab of glue on the drive and finished installing it. I installed Linux Mint and ran a few speed tests, and it came in 1012 slower than the WD Blue drive that I had tested in that PC previously. All in all, I cant really recommend this drive or brand at this point.

Didnt need a big drive. Its being used in my daughters bedroom, mostly as a media center. She does have a few games on it along with Windows 10. I was very happy with the price and very VERY happy with the speed It is faster than some other SSDs that I use.

The mechanical drive on my HP laptop died after a long business trip, I guess I gave it too many bumps and trips through the airport. The computer is less than a year old and still has excellent specs so I didnt want to buy a whole new rig over 1 component. This SSD was shipped very quickly and I had it installed in about 1 hour and my OS took about 10 mins to install. That was a pleasant shock. I have never previously owned or used an SSD before so I wasnt entirely prepared for how much of a performance improvement it would be. I now boot to the desktop in under 5 seconds and my programs launch almost instantly. The computer is smoother in its operation and it runs much cooler as well. I now wish Id done this in the first place. Now this isnt the best SSD on the market, but if youre considering switching from a mechanical drive, even this is a night and day improvement over what you have now. It seems reliable too. My experience with drives are that if they dont fail in the first week, they probably wont until they die of old age or abuse.

While the SSD that the guys have put in my laptop is absolutely awesome, taking my aged Dell from a 210 min start up due to dying SATA HD down to approx. 8 SECONDS, I want to comment on the service from PB Tech more. Simply put, OUTSTANDING. From the minute I made the inquiry online about looking at the issue, they communicated clearly, gave me exact costs and expectations around the work that may or may not be required and did the job in less than half the time I was advised. Once they gave me the good news my data could be recovered from the dying HD, I held my breath for how much a new SSD would cost replace the old one and was more than pleasantly surprised with it. I of course went ahead with the work and now my laptop is literally as good as new for less than 300, where I was looking at a new laptop up around 1000 initially. Top stuff. I have already recommended PB tech to many and even bought a new laptop for my mother from their site knowing that shed receive excellent service if things went pear shaped with it.

Im using this SSD as a second storage device, replacing a dying mechanical hard drive of the same capacity. Does just what youd expect an SSD to do … very fast and silent I got one of these for a PC I built for my brother. Windows 10 running on the hard drive was OK but a clean Windows 10 install on this SSD really made a big difference in responsiveness. Highly recommend this drive and it was good value for money.

An easy and very effective upgrade to SSD on a PC that seemed to take forever to start. The Acronis sofware from the Crucial website and installation guide worked perfectly and PC now boots in seconds. Doubling the memory to 8Gb almost certainly helped too.

Works as expected, which is great. Comes with access to ACRONIS software to migrate your old disk to the new SSD which is unfortunately quite clunky, basic and slow recommend using some other software to perform migration instead. Package came quickly. Would be nice if the pbtech site was more clear about quoted disk size vs. usable space. Anyone familiar with PC tech will know that the listed size is decimal whereas the OS usable space usually lists as binary which will be less than the decimal size. If youre unfamiliar, this will trip you up if you buy a 480 GB SSD to replace a disk that says 480 GB partition size in Windows, only to find your 480 GB SSD can only store 447 GiB, leaving you unable to migrate.

I was about to go for the highend modelsbrands, but the readwrite speed and quality of BX500 served my needs very well. My old laptop had an HDD that boots windows 10 in a minute, but with this SSD it boots in less than 10 seconds. Gaming wise, I can tell I have at least 50 faster loading time.

This is my second Crucial BX drive, and although not as well specd as the BX300 I bought in 2017, this has revived an ageing laptop used for light webemailoffice tasks. The Acronis disk cloning software worked flawlessly I placed the Crucial SDD into an external drive enclosure, cloned the HDD from the laptop and then swapped over. Presto The process took about an hour and booted straight into the OS with no errors and in a fraction of the time.

If you are installing a SSD in a computer the chances are that you are installing it in an older machine to give it a bit more life and boost the speed. The Crucial drive will do this for you. I dont know how long it will last in comparison to others available but the performance and price is good and competitive. Everything points to it satisfying requirements and lasting as long as necessary. I bought one which will not be more than 50 full so there is a lot of built in redundancy. I calculate thaat it will probably last 10 years in my equipment which I expect to replace within that time.

Samsung has long held the crown for high endurance and fast SSD drives, but Crucial has out done them for this specific model. It is both faster and according to independent testing longer lasting. That does not apply for the larger versions of this device, but this was the sweet spot for my specific application.

At the price that thee drives sell for buy some enclosures, I like Inateck, and pop in a drive. I use them to run Linux operating systems through USB ports. Speed is excellent and they can be moved from machine to machine. Also, these are Crucial. I have had excellent experience with Crucial customer service when buying memory. Speed is great. My PC and laptop both booted in seconds while this ssd was in them. I moved the ssd over to my laptop as I got an m.2 one for it, and I noticed the ssd makes a weird high pitched noise. Over the time of a month it got noticeably slower, and I just recieved a notification from windows showing drive errors. Good price, but you get what you pay for.

If youre trying to get past having an old mechanical hard drive, these are the perfect alternative. To be honest I cant tell if there is difference between this SSD and my old Crucial from 45 years a go but in no doubt is fast and snappy which is what I expect from SSD. I went with Crucial because my old one is from them 250gb and even after 5 years of usage it shows 90 life in it. I had to go with Crucial again and this time I got the 500gb. This SSD do what SSDs do and thats work faster than an HDD and speeds up the PC as a result. Boot time is only a few seconds on Win10. SSDs breathe new life into older or classic machines and thats just what this SSD did to my Optiplex 755 MT. USB 3.0 is about 10x faster and Im sure 2.0 speeded up as well. Startup is around 16 sec, all software opens with out any hang time. Recommend this to anyone wanting to put new life into an old laptop. No more clicking on something and waiting to see if it will happen. Read write happen very quickly making transfers of images much faster. Michael, I appreciate your feedback in your review. All good points. I could have been clearer that not all speeds are slow. I built my PC less that a year ago Ryxen 1600X, X370 motherboard. All Sata III, so the use of Sata II is not the issue. Not all speeds are slow. Some are just fine, but many are considerably slower than the MX500 with dram, expecially write performance. Ive read 2 professional reviews on the BX500 and both are poor. One is Toms Hardware. I pasted a link below if you wanted to look at it. Toms gives it a 2.5 out of 5 rating. Youll see results posted do show some slow speeds. They praised the BX500 for strong sequential burst performance mainly. But the cons overpower that positive. Their cons are …lower than average application performance, low endurance hence 3 year warranty vs the MC500s 5 year, low sustained write performance. httpswww.tomshardware.comreviewscrucialbx500ssd,5377.html Maximum PC gave the BX500 a 5 out of 10 with many of the same negative points. I think the BX500 would be fine if was substantially cheaper, but at the time Im writing this the MX500 is .13 cents CHEAPER than the BX500 on Newegg. Why settle for lower write performance and only a 3 year warranty vs the superior performance and 5 year warranty that the MX500 offers at the same cost to you

An SSD has been the best upgrade ever to my I7 laptop. No information or backuprestoreclone software was supplied with the SSD Drive but a visite to the Crucial Website and downloading and installing Acronis True Image for Crucial made backing up and restoring Windows 10 System to the SSD relatively easy and painless. Checked on crucial.com to find something compatible with the Dell Optiplex 990 that Im using as a domain controller on my home network, Shows up and paltry instructions included mentions a spacer but that I might not need one. No spacer included and, as to how this thing is supposed to fit correctly in the spot where my old HDD lives, crucial has basically left you to figure that out for yourself with only a link to their online tech support as help. Whats more, the free acronis software wont install on Windows 2016. I would recommend this drive for a secondary SSD in gaming or work applications or an upgraded primary drive in slightly older machines. An NVME drive is definitely faster but if you are looking for quick low energy storage at this price point it is difficult to find a better option. There are some SSDs that perform slightly better but not so much as to notice a substantial difference unless you are doing something like video editing on a regular basis.Read 485Write 423Mixed 395SusWrite 124

Replaced a 1TB HDD with this 2TB SSD. WOW What a difference. Yes SATA is slower than NVME but if all you have is SATA, its a moot point. Just going from a spinning drive to an SSD really adds life to an otherwise aging machine. Im happy to have it and anticipate a good long life from it.

With my twins using their handmedown laptops for hours each day for online schoolwork due to the pandemic, I decided to give their slow laptops a speed boost with a SSD upgrade. I picked up a couple of these basic Crucial BX500 drives over better, faster but also more expensive drives with cache like Samsung and Crucial MX lines. For each laptop, I first connected the SSD to the laptops USB port using the Sabrent USB 3.0 to SSD cable. I then cloned the the laptops drive using Acronis True Image software a free download from Sabrent. Note I believe Crucial offers the same free software download as well. After cloning was complete, I proceeded to open up the bottom of the laptop and swapped the drives. Both laptops with the new SSDs booted up 5 times faster and should run cooler too. I dont think my kids appreciate the SSD upgrade but it brought new life to the old laptops and I was happy that everything worked out so well.

What can I say more than an SSD is a good replacement to an M.2 drive if you have a system that is not able to mount one to the motherboard. Fast readwrite speed times make for excellent boot times for systems. These drives are great for Windows and a lot of primary launch drives like Steam or other launchers. Just dont expect to have a lot of space for games

Needed more fast storage. My M.2 was pretty full and needed some quicker storage. Is reasonably fast but no where near as fast as stated. No drivers etc found as suspected this could have been the issue. Seems to be just not a 540mb read drive. Guess it is theoretical speed rather than actual.

This breathed new life into an aging Dell i7. It fit in the factory drive carriage with no issues and all of the mounting spots aligned perfectly. Though nearly 8 years old, the laptop recognized the drive immediately, formatted it, and I was ready for a clean Windows install.

Very disappointed. First hard drive ever that was DOA upon arrival, and Ive bought probably over 100 drives of various sorts. I know that this happens, but this is a first for me. I give 3 stars instead of 1, because Ive bought Crucial drives before, and all worked fine. I know their product is good at least it has been in the past. Hopefully this isnt an indication of something that is happening to the company

I replaced this in my old Lenovo B590 and upgraded its RAM too. It goes very fast but just a word of warning that now my fans go up and down so I am not sure if it is because the power is too much for the i3 core cpu or not, but just know before you upgrade an old machine. And also make sure the thermal regulator is not on your original HD. Also machine will not boot via keyboard because startup is too fast.Other than that it was easy to cloneeven though I got a few disk errors I skipped past with Acroniswindows 10. Maxium is a nightmare though. Also easy to install. Im hoping it lasts and I can figure out the fan issue but I am doubting its the HD its self so good purchase.

Bought this from CCL Computers. Theyre my first port of call for systems and bits. the delivery is fast, and the prices are competitive.SSDs are great for replacing boot drives, the fast startup makes even relatively aged PCs a lot faster, and at the price CCL offer these, its a very cheap and effective upgrade to any computer.

I bought this SSD to install and run my OS on mainly, and also to get some extra storage space in my SFF HTPC HP 8300 Elite. Running Windows 10 on the 1TB hard drive was driving me nuts too slow and noisy. I ended up installing Manjaro Linux on this SSD instead Im really a Linux guy anyway and it runs perfectly and quietly. For the price the performance is excellent. Been using it for a few months now without any problems.

I am happy with the drives and would recommend them. This is my 3rd purchase of a Crucial SSD. Ive installed them in 7 year old Dell and HP Laptops as well as a 5 Custom Built desktop PC. The performance of this SSD is barely better than a HDD. If youre looking for some extra storage and not concerned about read or write speed, especially when copyingmoving large files then this SSD might suit your purpose. Frankly, I would spend a little more money, like for a Sansung 860 and get good durability and better performance.

Bought to update a laptop I use for writing. I dont need much storage so 120GB is about 100 more gigs than Ill actually need which is to say only like 70 because of the oldtimey way that HDD manufacturers measure their capacity, and were somehow still OK with. Anyway, made that laptop faster than lightning, and now if I drop it I dont have to worry about breaking the hard drive and losing my files.

This drive is simple to install once you address the fact that it is slightly thinner than legacy SATA slots. It took me a couple of tries to get it to seat properly in the connection due to this fact. Id recommend replacing old, smaller spinning drives with this SSD for the reasons mentioned in Pros above. It is very economical considering the price of spinning HDDs it replaces in older system. SATA III seems to be completely backward compatible.

I bought this drive to replace my Samsung SSD EVO 840 250GB and WD Green ITB HDD. Unfortunately the results were underwhelming. After cloning the 250GB boot drive and transferring the remaining data from the HDD, boot times were significantly slower compared to the original setup. Even after a clean install of W10 and then reinstalling all my programs took a days work results were no different.I have resorted to reinstating the original Samsung SSD boot drive and replacing the HDD with the crucial SSD. After purchase steep promo, I read a few reviews of this SSD learned this this is a DRAM less unit, meaning theres no true RAM installed. My intentions was to get hold of ShopRunner to initiate a return before it arrived due to this reason. Yet I kept the SSD because its in a notebook thatll be booted at best, once monthly, if it were my main system, would had went back unopened, to include the Newegg packaging. They didnt state that this SSD had no true RAM installed, running on Flash chips alone, no way would this last with my normal PC usage over 12 hours daily when cleaning, usually over 500MB of Google Internet files alone. Therefore, I cannot recommend this item for ones main or only system. There are better choices in the size range for 1520, sometimes on promo for just 510 more. Being this SSD is in a SATA2 notebook will accumulate less than 30 days usage for the duration of the warranty, I ate the loss from now on as usual will check out promos before pulling the trigger. The reason why I didnt here, was I never imagined that Crucial, of all corporations, would build sell a SSD wout physical DRAM. Please dont take my word for it, Google search this SSD model youll see, the ones from last year are 2x faster on many depth charts. But for a notebook thatll only be booted to keep Windows the software updated, I guess itll do. Five eggs for Newegg due to their fast delivery actually due to my ShopRunner benefit minus five for Crucial for doing this to their loyal customers. Since I cant give the rating I want 2.5, will up to 3. Its still hard for me to digest that Crucial is too broke to provide DRAM on their SSDs, and at least make it prominent if otherwise. Youve been warned, stay away from this SSD, unless sticking in a computer to sell. If used hard, I doubt itll outlast the warranty, which was exactly why I turned around purchased a SquareTrade one on it from the link provided on invoice as a just in case measure.

Bought Crucial as I have used this before in different capacities to modify my own computers and those of several friends and by far prefer this with the software provided but prefer the advanced settings top the auto as that would close a 160 onto a 500 SSD and reduce the size likewise on auto but with manual the options are open.First one I installed was a 1 Tb as the windows 10 pro boot drive on one of the main system computers which uses 12 sata 3 connection to run 10 drives plus dual boot to MAC and a dual density DVD . In considering replacing the disk drive with solid state I was concerned both by the need for easy physical compatibility and data transfer to a new drive. With this 1TB unit from BH I quickly resolved both issues. I needed to improve the user experience on a Win7 computer that had become frustratingly slow, and was looking for a performance upgrade while keeping an eye on the budget. This unit was a simple choice.I already had an external enclosure the process of installing this drive into it, connecting it to the laptop and cloning the host drive ie, the c drive was a breeze, and done overnight.Opening the laptop was more of a challenge but I found a YouTube video for the Dell Inspiron 11 Series 3000 Memory replacement, which shows how to carefully remove the lower shell to locate the drive. Replacement merely involved unscrewing the HDD casing and setting the SSD in its place.Once done, my laptop is back to its youth. All I need now is a new battery but that is a story for another day

I havent had this SSD for more than 8 months. In this short time the enclosure has broken in two spots when the computer needed some basic maintenance. In one instance, mounting this to a 3.5 tray caused the enclosure to split right in half using correctly sized, standard mounting screws. This was right when it it was purchased. In the other instance the SATA cable got nudged while moving cabling around and snapped the top of the enclosure right off. This now adds to my time and workload and may even introduce a data recovery procedure. In both instances one could say that I could be more careful. Perhaps thats true but after building many, many PCs for about 25 years Ive never seen a branded component fall apart so easily and quickly, particularly since the part is new with under 40 hours of usage on it. This enclosure is just plain low quality. Its too brittle even at this price and is shockingly bad. Data integrity Time will tell … if I can get a SATA cable to hold onto the pins

Cant say how fast it is, or anything else After having to initialize, format and partition the drive because the Acronis digital download for Crucial refused to recognize the drive and perform those functions, Acronis STILL would not recognize the drive. So, I couldnt clone a backup of my laptop. I decided to just make a system image of it, but theres no way to test such a thing until your drive fails and you have to restore the image. Whatever. I NEVER had so many steps to install, and then fail to install a seemingly perfectly functional drive. Ive cloned and installed Crucial, Intel and Samsung drives in the past, no problems. Id appreciate help in getting the Acronis to recognize the drive, but I think that may not due to my having put a system image on it. I thought about finding 3rd party software, didnt want to deal with the security risk.

Would highly recommend for any system without m.2 support on the motherboard. An SSD, especially one as reliable and reasonablypriced as this one, can speed up even the oldest SATA system for very little money. It could be prettier to look at, but if your case hides drives out of sight, not a big deal. Just about the best value youre going to get for a SATA SSD, and theyre available in sizes up to 2TB.

Maybe not the fastest there is, but Ive no need to hammer my system with benchmark testing each and every time I make a change. After all, how often does anyone use devices to the absolute maximum of capacity while using a computer If youre only concerned with what a device is maximally capable of, youre better off working in test labs to make an attempt to destroy these things at their limits. The available Acronis software from Microns website is easy to use and very effective. I cloned drives from a laptop and desktop system, swapped old for new, and all is good. No trouble, easypeasy. USBtoSATA, run the clone software, shut down, swap drive. Thats all there is to it. Theyre a standard 2.5 form factor, no surprises. If you dont use a laptop often, or you have to reboot or start from poweroff often, then an SSD can make a HUGE difference to the pickup and go performance of the computer. I mean, it was technically my fault, but when you see windows saying the original drive is 467gb and you see the new drive says 480GB, you assume the new one is big enough to hold the old one. So far after a couple of weeks use this SSD card works well. I have used this card after formatting in NTFS format to save videos that I have made in 4K high resolution and then connecting the card thru a USB to Sata3 cable to connect to a 4k Ultra HD Flat screen 65ins TV. As 4k video files are on the large size, this medium is great to save and playback on a large screen TV. Files saved in FAT format will not play back on a large screen TV. To fix the card to the back of a large TV just use some strips of Hook and Loop Velcro strips, this keeps it neat and invisible from the front of the TV. Make sure you do not block any air vents that are on the back of the TV. Just use the TV remote to switch to the SSD card to see your saved 4K movies.

I wouldnt recommend shelling out an extra 30100 for a slightly faster SATA or M.2 drive if you dont absolutely need it. This will give the average consumer everything they need.

Through some mingling, I was able to fix the 1gb problem. I installed windows, and all was good until I took a short break. When I went back to my computer it was telling me to select a boot device. Now after installing my programs etc., it has went back to the same problem. I dont want to reformat if the ssd if faulty. Any help if I might be doing something wrong

After waiting for too long I finally purchased this ssd to replace the painfully slow 5,200 rpm can that came with my laptop the benefit was immediately noticeable.I did have some issue with the cloning software in that the original HD was 1TB and the SSD only 240GB I had less than 60GB on the original HD. I cant recall the message I received, but never had message saying the cloning was successful. After a couple of attempts I decided to try and boot from the new SSD and success Im guessing I never received a message that the clone was successful due to the difference in capacity. Whats important is I dont have to wait for an extended period of time to boot up or for programs to load.

I bought this to swap out the mechanical hard disk in an old 2015era laptop. Everything else about this computer is good enough for me, but the old disk was bottlenecking performance and causing it to take forever to load any apps. Did the trick. Much cheaper than buying a whole new laptop.

I feel comfortable using Crucial for anything, drives and memory appear to be their specialties I was pleased to see that their drives routinely are well priced so you can feel comfortable going with something well engineered with real support if anything were ever to happen. Ive used 20 of them in the past year with no issues. In cloning original drives to these, every once in a while one will feel warm after the partition copy, but otherwise they all stay cool, fast, and dead quiet. Transfer rates of 400MB are common with SATA3 controllers.

I purchased this drive to replace my old HDD in my pc. I went online to PB Tech and completed the order online It arrived 2 days later and after I cloned my HDD to the SSD it only took a couple of minutes to change the drives over and boot up. I found the drive is quiet to run and boots up quite fast . Everyday operation is faster than what I had on my HDD I wish I had changed over sooner. I would recommend anyone still using the conventional HDD to change to an SSD now that they are a lot cheaper than what they were. I would recommend getting your related computer bits and pieces from PB Tech as they are quick to deliver and the range of products and prices are very competitive. Got this to upgrade my laptop from a 500GB HDD. The performance boost this provided was absolutely amazing Not to mention my battery life improvement. I can now use my laptop for the whole day with only a 50 battery loss The battery life before was 6 hours, and now its 50 for 6 hours, this does depend on what you do on your laptop and what your specs are, but regardless, you would notice the improvement in battery life.

Ive been putting together pcs since the early 90s and this is the first time I had a drive inoperable right out of the box. The smoke it let out and the heat generated were impressive. And that new SSD drive smell… Seriously, I dont know what happened. Hopefully the replacement is much better quality. Returned it, it is on its way back. I have used Crucial in the past with no issues, hopefully this problem wont be a trend.

Ive tested two SSDs with Crystal Disk Mark and Hard Disk Sentinel and here are the following results Read MBs Write MBs Seq Q32T1 279.7 2nd drive 270.0 256.4 2nd drive 256.9 4KiB Q8T8 189.0 2nd drive 181.5 180.9 2nd drive 182.5 4KiB Q32T1 136.1 2nd drive 135.6 112.4 2nd drive 112.6 4KiB Q1T1 15.54 2nd drive 15.41 30.26 2nd drive 30.34 I was testing SSDs with Intel Core i7 Q 740 Now, i understand that without DRAM, SSD can be a bit slow, but Crucial says that its supposed to have 540 MB read and 500 MB write speed. Hard Disk Sentinel showed me that both drives have zero health. At first i was shocked, but then i remembered that shows zero health, because the S.M.A.R.T. system doesnt have any records of readwrite cycles and thats why the program thinks that the drive is half way dead, but please correct me if im wrong. Final verdict I bought them for consoles PS2, PS3 and, as consoles cant use SSDs at the same speeds as a PC or laptop, if its not going to die after half a year, i would be really impressed.

Installed this in my PS3 slim since it was so cheap and in my opinion you dont really need a large amount of storage space for the PS3 era of games. This might not be the fastest SSD and build quality is different from the Crucial MX500 but it is worth the purchase for old generation laptops to speed up the boot up. So far, advertised speed is consistent but copying larger files seem to take a toll to this SSD. Also, there is a noticeable difference regarding the start up speed compared to traditional hard drives. Would definitely buy from this line again if I find the capacity not enough for my office needs.

Write performance is not stellar, but read performance is pretty darn good. Especially for the price. If this is going into a machine that just surfs the web or even a budget gaming rig, it is a good choice. Anything that needs better write performance, look higher end or even NVMe.

So i recently had my computer built at the start of the pandemic. My best friend who lives 3 hours away built it for me so i went and grabbed it and brought it back but filled up the memory far too quick. I ordered an external hard drive for my PC originally but it was defective so it made me decide to get an SSD to avoid the problem again. The first order got lost in transit, so i contacted customer service, they made me wait a couple business days with no updates in the shipment but then quickly worked with me for the replacement, I had a stellar and simple experience with customer support and I wish that more customer service protocols like theirs were in use everywhere. When the replacement was issued I received it in a few days and was excited to connect it. I facetimed my friend from 3 hours away and he told me what to do and it only took about 15 minutes to take my PC apart, put the drive and sata cable in, connect it to the power bank, then put it all back together. Now every game on it runs smoothly on the highest graphical settings at 145200 frames per second. Couldnt complain about anything, superb work all around

Very happy. I am a home user with no computer upgrade knowledge but this wasnt hard to do. It told me the software required had to be downloaded off their site which was no problem but was 462 mb. I just followed the prompts and it cloned my old drive to this ssd. Then I had to open the back of the laptop to swap the old drive out for the new one. I checked out how to do that on a youtube vid, but it really wasnt that hard. You do need to buy a 10 USB 3.0 to 2.5 SATA III Hard Drive Adapter Cable to connect the new ssd to the laptop so the old hard drive can be cloned to the new one. The whole upgrade wasnt hard and made my old laptop feel new again. It was a cheap, low end laptop that took 5.17 minutes from pushing the power button to when the browser was loaded. After this it took 1.43 minutes Its time to logon screen went from 1.43 min to 53 sec. So, I got another for my second better laptop and it went from 1.43 min to 53 sec. Its time to logon screen went from 32 sec to 8 sec

Ive used Crucial SSD in all my builds, and have yet to have any issues. Great as storage or main drives, Im really happy with the performance. I had concerns when first selecting an SSD with the smaller buffer sizes, with the whole when you move a massive file write performance drops down to HDD speeds but in practice Ive never experienced it, or if I did, I never noticed it. Recently bought this one as a storage for game files, and have to say Im really happy with it. Loading speeds are very quick, file use is great, and editing 4k video on these is also awesome. Cant recommend enough, and at this price, theres no reason to be buying dodgy secondhand or unbranded online junk when you get name brand performance and quality with solid warranty. If youre on the fence about whether to buy this VS a higher priced SSD, go for more expensive options if youre runing a workstation 247 and editing 4k video on a daily basis or moving huge files around constantly, or maybe if youre installing in a laptop thats going to be moved a lot the crucial SSds are pretty light, I dont think they are the most physically solid option out there. If like me youre doing odd video editing, 3d Modelling and rendering, and high def gaming in a desktop, then youve got nothing to worry about with this one.

This drive feels very cheap in build quality. First, I heard the ticking of something rattling around in the enclosure, almost like a screw or a tiny piece of plastic. Gently prising up a corner of the enclosure I managed to get whatever that was out of it but then, I discovered that the drive ITSELF rattles around inside the 2.5 enclosure Also, beware that this drive is a DRAMLESS SSD. Rating is five eggs if you have installed other SSD. Four eggs otherwise, because you need to know the basics of some software tools such as how to initialize the disk e.g. Disk Management in Windows, how to migrate from a hard disk to a SSD .e.g. , Acronis, and how to reset the drive if you find unexpected problems e.g. diskpart in DOS. I always read the reviews thank you, Newegg and sometimes I have the feeling that some reviews are unfair because they talk about problems with an easy fix using the tools above. For Crucial, and other vendors be smart and invest a little bit of time to talk to your competitors and publish a common guide on what to do when the user finds a problem that you think it has an easy fix. Users will be happy and your sales and support people even happier.

Excellent quality SSD from a reputable brand and comes with software to copy your HDD onto it. You need to download the software from the official website of the manufacturer and install it. I was surprised when Ive seen this SSD at a such a low price point. When I got it and had it installed into my laptop, it speeded up dramatically. I didnt have to wait 10 minutes for Windows to finish loading everything from the hard drive. I dont have any measurable metrics for this, but if you that interested, theres Google. Id heavily recommend buying an SSD over any other upgrade if you think your PC is sluggish. Windows is a lot harder on reading data now. And since the BX500 is cheap and made by a reputable manufacturer, Id heavily recommend it. One last note, if you are running Windows, go for a 240GB SSD or larger. You may have issues fitting both Windows and your files on there otherwise.

Got this ssd and 2x4gb of some older ddr3 laptop ram to upgrade my older Toshiba laptop s7309somethingP. The ram helped and sped it up a little but this ssd is what really made the difference in speed since the laptop had the stock spinning platter hd in it. Even migrating the original win7 and bu partition over sped up boot times significantly It took the battery out to in cold boot from somewhere between 115 to 130, depending, to 25ish seconds including typing my pw. I decided I wanted to go with a fresh install after doing all that and found the ameliorated version of win10 pro that has all the telemetry and Spyware ms put in the stock release deletedremoved or in the cases that wasnt possible, just disabled. After getting that installed and the driversstock hw programs installed and working it will boot in about 15 seconds including typing the Pw. I ended up just keeping the old HD and taking the DVD drive out and installing it in a 10 adapter where the DVD drive went and putting this ssd where the stock HD went and triple booting. Would recommend both this ssd upgrade and upgrading your ram and maxing it out if possible if youre trying to get a few years more out of your investment. I ended up spending 32 on this ssd on sale and 17 each on 4gb sticks of laptop ram, so for 65ish bucks I basically have a brand new laptop. Definitely would recommend both, but this ssd in itself is the best one for the money that you can buy. Look at the read and write speeds and compare them with the others. It was the best 32 bucks Ive ever spent on anything. Its easily worth double due to how much of a performance increase it does over a stock spinning HD, no matter how many rpms it does 1110 Would buy again

Make sure you know what youre buying when it comes to SSDs. I find most people who experience SSD failure or hate certain SSD manufacturers is because they dont take time to understand what theyre buying. This is Crucials BUDGET 2.5 SSD, it has slower write speeds, and a lower write longevity. I.E its good for information that needs to be referenced frequently but changed infrequently. I.E Steam Library, or digital storage of picturesvideos. For something with better write speeds and longevity, the MX line is Crucials mainstream SSD.

I originally bought a 240 gb version of this ssd but i knew that wouldnt be enough space for my games so i bought this ssd to house my games and it works amazing. It loads my games very fast and I am quite pleased with the price of it too. Although when assembling my pc and while handling the ssd, it felt very cheap and the chassis had a little rattle, possibly due to it being made of plastic but it was a harmless corner cut as the performance is still good

This SSD is installed in a computer I rarely use mostly sits in a closet. Ive owned the drive for 16 months but its barely used in terms of operating hours. Died tragically under very little stress. Id guess this is a manufacturing thing. Western Digital and Kingston both make more reliable drives in this price range. Dont waste your money.
