I will start by admitting Im that n00b. This is my first nvme drive but I was cloning from my sata ssd boot drive. I just wanted to have the latest and fastest speed for my OS while also expanding the space a bit more. my boot drive has gone from hdd sata ssd nvme now so i assumed it would be the exact same process as before. I didnt know that you had to manually extend the boot drive partition so you could utilize the whole drive space. So for those trying to expand your boot drive total space and speed by going with nvme once its plugged in make sure you first allocate your drive size by initializing it through creating a new simple volume on the drive then cloning it through something like Macrium like I did so you dont end up creating your smaller drive size onto the new nvme and thinking you messed up and lost out on drive space. You can also fix it if this has already happened to you with Macrium. Theres a great youtube tutorial if you look it up. Hopefully this can help someone out with the same issue I had. Other than that which is obviously a user error this drive works GREAT and does exactly what I expected. Very happy with the end result.
Reggie –
Its just ok. For the price it did the job really well. Im not getting the full advertised speed but im not sure if thats my motherboard. I would say if this is on dale get it, but at full price i just feel that there are better options.
Simon P. –
Ive heard so many people saying SSDs are still better than m.2 because of pricesperformance ratio. Well… this drive is cheaper than most SSDs and kicking their buts 6x in terms of speeds. If your motherboard supports it, you have no reason not to buy one of these.
Anonymous –
Would definitely recommend to HDD users if youre looking for better overall system performance, SATA3 users if you want more capacity. The difference in speed vs SATA3 SSDs isnt worth the cost unless youre upgrading for more storage capacity as well. Everything is noticeably faster loading, but its not as impressive as going from HDD to SSD.
Joshua G –
Man what a great ssd Previously had a hard drive and oh boy does this thing run a lot faster than that old hard drive. Great costumer service, too Would DEFINATLY recommend.
Okaygo –
Great price to performance value. Solid pickup for budget conscience builds or upgrades. Easy install both hardware check your motherboard has screw for install, YMMV and software wise. Userbench had this drive pushing up to 2300MBs, well within the manufacturer specs. Top off 5 year warranty with WD is great peace of mind.
troezar –
Excellent drive for when you dont need the absolute fastest. In real world situations this drive is as fast as the others, low queue depth. Good warranty and well established manufacturer.
Oren in Florida –
Its A good product, at A reasonable price, sold by Dell. I am not sure it helps me with my Dell computer warranty, but I like to think it will make things easier if I ever need tech support.
SimpleTwist –
I buy a lot of SSDs in my work, and of course best bang for the buck aka best value is one of the most important considerations. SSD prices have been dropping significantly, and the cost of this M.2 SSD has seen a dramatic decrease. It may not be as fast as a Samsung EVO, but its light years faster than any old tech spinning disk drive. If youre in the market for a M.2 type of SSD and youre on a budget, you cant go wrong with this one. And the fact that it comes with a 5year warranty tells you all you need to know about the quality.
Alan –
It is an amazing SSD. I replaced the existing HHD in my sons laptop and its performance is significant improved. My son told me now his PC game will not be interrupted and run very smoothly. Thanks for this SSD to make my son happy.
adfab5 –
Very fast drive. Excellent performance and excellent price. Cannot beat this value for very reliable drive.
eriphilbroo0 –
So far so good. No problems getting Lenovo to recognize, and to load Windows 10. Can download WD software for free if you wish. Using x2 so not as fast as it could be. Didnt bother doing any speed tests.
HO C. –
Opened product sold as new. A bit unfair to the product itself as my rating has nothing to do with the product. But the product is obviously opened and maybe even used and then returned. Normally, an opened product should be discounted or warranty extended, but its sold as new so I got none of that.
EricM –
Super fast and no issues. Works great in my HP 450 G5. Western digital is starting to come back. Definitely a superior upgrade to standard SSD
william b. –
Faster than standard ssd but nothing you would really notice except in benchmark tests and window load times, shaved about 10 seconds off w10 startup. I had a 500gb standard ssd and needed 1tb so I went with this one. pleased with this drive for size and price.
Anonymous –
Serious bang for buck on this NVMe SSD. It takes my bios longer to load than windows does. WD blue is the sweet spot between price and performance. If utmost performance is a priority, go for WD black. If price is, then go WD green.
Blacklotu5 –
So far so good def the best fastest M.2 you can get from Best Buy or even on the market anywhere for the price. My only real problem was that I couldnt manage to get the 1TB version that I wanted because its always out of stock or sold out so had to settle for the smaller 500GB one. Have had many WD products past present always good quality lasted. The Drive Speed is great for everything even gaming with it but if you do get it to use for gaming it can run HotHigh at 5055 Celsius at Heavy load while gaming. Compared to the Normal Temp Zone of 3037 Celsius at low load to 4048 Celcius at Medium to High load. But found it can hit 50 during some games even though was stated that temps still not big issue prefered it not go that high but with a little addition of new fans better fan configurations in my case it now never reaches above normal even at heaviest laod while gaming.Which am glad since before was looking into possible M.2 heatsink for it but no need although if or when M.2 like WD Black with Heatsink for example go down in price itd definately be the better option for using if needed for gaming.
Kyle A –
I have bought several m.2 drives from various manufacturers. I am getting twice the advertised speeds. Maybe I got a lucky stick and a good batch of silicon Either way, ended up with a lot more bang for my buck.I would recommend this and possibly buy another to see what results come out.
Matthew M. –
It doesnt look the coolest, and it doesnt have a heatsink on it, but I still have not had any thermal issues. Many motherboards will also have their own heatsink for M.2s, so this is not anything terrible. It is a great M.2 that I would recommend to anyone who wants a high storage M.2 for an affordable price.
bartmw1 –
Probably there are faster and better drivers but for me it does what says in tin. I happy with purchase, working flawless so far. Using for casual gaming, video and photo editing and works better than my old HDD. So if you looking for good value for money, search no more.
Q007 –
1TB WD Blue SN550, M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD Installed Ubuntu onto this and it now fully boots from off in 25 seconds. Game loads etc are also much faster than from HD.With 1TB I no longer need an HDD. Note that there are PCIe and nonPCIe M.2 slots this must go into a PCIe M.2 slot. Also motherboards that support M.2 PCIe use up X4 PCIe lanes so 1 less X4 PCIe for something else. I also like the way it is firmly bolted to the motherboard no chance of it coming loose.
Studenut –
This drive was offered on sale so I quickly took advantage. I had just bought a new Lenovo L13 Thinkpad from Best Buy and it had a pretty generic Samsung 256 GB SSD. The installation was simple, the computers owners manual describes how to do it. Made a world of difference in the responsiveness of the computer. I feel that this is a great choice for an upgrade.
Collin A. –
After doing more research, this drive doesnt work in most of the Ryzen 4500 laptops, lenovo was the most prominent one to find on the internet forums having issues. I was excited for my Ryzen laptop after it has been hyped by everyone, but they still seem to have compatibility issues that have always plagued AMD hardware. Not sure who to blame more, WD or AMD, but it still doesnt work and its just an SSD such a basic core component. This is the 2nd issue in a row I have run into with new WD products. I was always a fan, but this might be the last product I purchase from them in a while. To put it in perspective I switched to a Crucial P5 and had none of the issues that I had with the WD Blue. I was able to clean install or clone the drive and boot without issues. I am not sure if its a DRAM issue the P5 does utilize DRAM, the SN550 is DRAMless.
Anonymous –
Extremely easy to install, very pleased with readwrite speeds for the cost. Whilst not the biggest capacity, it was ideal for me as an extra bit of storage and it performs great, well worth the purchase if you need extra space and have the connection on the motherboard.
Matthew T. –
Its a hard drive so this review will be short It does what its supposed to do. No cords to deal with and its fast. No issues yet but time will tell. I bought this because I have trusted western digital for many years
aelburr –
Good size for a boot drive and a good warranty. No issues at all setting it up and Ive had good luck so far with WD SSDs in my last build. Good balance of performance, projected lifespan and price.
mhcartildawn –
Works great. Just one caveat, Im using it as the boot drive and installed Windows from a UEFI device. To get it working properly I had to formatpartition using GPT Global Partitioning Table and NOT MBR. If you windows installation hangs, check the partitioning. Just hoping to save others the frustration I went through before figuring this out.
Joseph P –
This drive is used as my main system drive. OS, games, files, etc are all stored on this drive and Ive had no issues with slowdowns, garbage collection, etc.
RobP –
Used it for an HP computer with only 128 GB hd that was on sale at Best Buy. I installed it with a Windows imaging software from windows 10. didnt need to clone the drive. All you do is create a system image and create a system repair disk all from windows 10. I dont think a lot of people know this. You have to change the bios so it boots up either from a USB stick or DVD. However you made the repair disk. Follow directions about restoring a system image. Copy system image from an external hard drive and wait about an hour. Thats it. In my case I had to repartition a hard drive after everything was done. Theres a software out there called EaseUS. Its free and it worked for me. Didnt cost anything except for what the new hard drive cost and it was on sale for 69.
Felipe N. –
Very very fast speeds, mine was posting speeds faster than the advertised readwrite. Added a heatsink to ensure life and improved speeds. Great drive, would deff get a 1tb if i could
Anthony D –
Went with Western Digital as Samsung was out of my budget. So far it has been great. It was easy to install and set up. No issues so far.
JRH –
Got this to upgrade a Dell Optiplex 5070 SFF with the i7 7700 I picked up last year cheap to turn into a Plexsecurity server, this drive seemed to be the best value at the time for the slot. Nearly a year later couldnt be happier with the performance, its been running 247 and gets a decent amount of activity and hasnt missed a beat.
Jacob C –
I bought this SSD to replace the stock 250GB SSD that came with my laptop. It was easily recognized by the laptop. I installed Ubuntu, and Im really happy with the extra space.
Mark L. –
If you are in the market for a quick boot drive for your system that wont break the bank, this fits the bill. I upgraded from an older 120GB SSD and this drive is noticeably faster to boot and in general use. Going from an HD would be even more impressive.
IamTHEvilONE –
The SN550 NVMe m.2 drives are the default I assemble builds with for customers. I have no plans to change that. I only give the option to upgrade to 23 other makes and models, but this is bar by which I set for customers I build bespoke systems for.
Sal –
Works totally great as the second drive in the Dell XPS 17. i really did not want RAID. The screws are really tight on the motherboard to access the drive slot. MAKE SURE YOU A STURDY TORX TOOL Also if you dont want what seems to the default RAID setting for the second drive that you be ready to have Dell service andor access to Microsoft help get your machine back up and running. I probably induced the problem by my own ignorance though.
Gregory S. –
Upgraded 2014 Apple Macmini fusion drive with this stick. Used in tandem with Sintech M.2 NGFF NVMe adapter 16. It worked flawlessly and is a major upgrade from the fusion drive. It was kind of a hassle upgrading the Mac computer, but thats Apples problem. This SSD M2 works as well as I could have hoped for.
prepaka –
NVMe drive works perfectly. There was no hassle with fitting it into my m.2 slot on the motherboard. Read and write speeds are fast enough that you will never even be thinking about it.
Chris L. –
The actual capacity of the formatted drive is only 930GiB roughly They TECHNICALLY are correct in saying it has 1TB but as far as computers are concerned they only give you 930ish. It comes down to a computer seeing a GB as 1024MB but manufacturers use the standard 1000 MB to say its a GB. People think in TB and GB but computers work with TiB and GiB. Its a standard industry practice but be aware that your computer will not be able to use a TB as its not a real TB. This is something they disclose on their website though they do not say what is actually is. For more info look up the difference between giga and gigi byte along with all the others KB, MB, T, ext
Zak R –
I came into the store pretty blind about what I was gonna get for my first pc build and this was definitely the right choice. Perfect amount of space for just getting started.
tjscali –
I was looking for an affordable way to upgrade my PC. After doing some research I found that the WD Blue NVMe SSD was very affordable name brand option. The boot up speed of my PC, and game loading was increased by at least 45 times compared to my HDD. I have used it for about 6 months without a hiccup Make sure you have an NVMe screw, or buy one eBay 6 when you buy any NVMe SSD, as they rarely come with one probably due to different requirements for the MB. There are faster NVMe drives out there, I bought one my new MB holds two, but cant tell the difference, other than the price.
Anonymous –
Use this as general game storage for my casual non competitive games, cuts loading times from minutes to seconds. Havent had any problems with it and have used it for about a half a year now.
Ebslopp –
I upgraded a 1TB 5400rpm hdd with the 1TB WD Blue SN550 in a laptop that is less than one year old. It runs so much faster, I cannot believe it. If youre looking for a quick speed boost on a computer that supports M.2 harddrives, this is definitely a worthy choice.Be prepared to find some alternative software for transferring your data, the stuff that comes with this drive is terrible. Otherwise, this was the best money Ive ever spent on a computer upgrade.
Earl –
Slotted in nicely, works under Linux with no effort. Super fast transfer speeds, perfect for recording audio and video without the hard drive grinding away in the background.
Matthew S. –
I havent run any benchmark tests or anything, so I cant give a formal how fast is it number, but as my last computer was still running a spinning disk, I can really tell the difference. Windows 10 boots to the login screen in about 20 seconds, and that includes the MB POST. Good price too for a 1TB SSD. Though I will say I wasnt expecting it to be quite as small as it is. Thats not a or , its just a component I hadnt used prior to this build.
James M. –
Highly recommended. Western Digital is my brand. I have over 20 of these installed around my house and business and none have given me a problem
JimbobOG –
The included heatsink just lifts off and no way of securing it except the one fixing screw. I ended up using a zip tie to hold it flush although not sure how much good it is. Otherwise I have no complaints run quick and quiet
Ben –
Its a SSD, it does what its meant to do and thats all I can ask of it. My Dell G3 3500 laptop came with a 256gb SSD that definitely wasnt cutting it I installed two or three games and they left me with around 28gb left of free storage. Only thing Id say is if you got my laptop to be prepared to order a M.2 2800 heatsink as well since the SSD Dell used originally is a different size. Temperatures have been great so far though, Ive been monitoring it so far and its been pretty stable.
BiggieMotown –
The WD Blue NVME makes an excellent boot drive. Even without DRAM it still performs readwrite very quickly in the real world. It does take awhile for the cache to flush after large writes, but most Samsung and WD SSDs suffer the same fate. Ive used this for Windows 10, Linux Mint, and Pop and on all three systems it just works. I keep my music, videos, and games on a internal 2.5 SSD and let this handle the OS.For video and photo editing, I usually copy the file to the boot drive, edit there, and move it back when Im done. Doing this, it handles readwrites very quickly and Ive never had IO be a bottleneck in my workflow. For me, the extra money for a WD Black wasnt worth it, and unless you have some incredibly demanding use cases, I imagine most people will find the same to be true as well.
poggers001 –
My first nvme drive. Using with a msi 999fxa gaming motherboard and AMD FX 8350. Has totally transformed the performance for everything. Killed the bottleneck. Loads everything instantly. Great value
Kevin –
Replaced a smaller SSD drive. This NVMe drive is much faster and makes no sound. Perfect for my sons gaming desktop. Paired with a 6 TB HHD data drive for storing his game collection.
Anonymous –
The industry appears to be designed to legally take your money. Many motherboard manufacturers dont support this drive. When you call them Asus and Gigabyte will hide behind their support policy to not extend you warranty protection. Be careful what you purchase. The model numbers sold here may not be supported by your motherboard manufacturer leading you down the path of having to purchase another motherboard, CPU, or other components, because they have a hook to not provide you service. Deceitful industry.
Anonymous –
Micro center price matched this awesome product for me making it a no brained to purchase in store. Super fast, easy to install and a great bargain
Morgan W. –
Had no issues with it so far, and its super speedy as expected. Went with this over a standard ssd as my gpu blocks the other SATA ports. Works as youd expect it too
Anonymous –
When I first got it the box looked cheap, on Facebook they are selling some for cheaper and for 1tb but the box looked fake and the stick looked fake too. When I received from Newegg I was surprise its the same thing but at least I know I got it from a reputable site. It works out of the box and its fast thats it.
Kyle S. –
Replaced a Crucial MX300 SATA SSD that failed prematurely. Night and day difference even over the old SATA SSD. As long as it lasts Im more than happy with how fast it loads in games and the almost instant boot times. Still rocking a 2013 era WD black hard drive in my system so WD is AOk with me. I loved it so much I ordered another one to upgrade another computer.
Matthew M. –
Awesome speed, though I had to enable a setting in the mobo bios to see the drive. Once I did that everything worked like a charm. Highly recommend
Richard C. –
As this is brand new to me, I cant say on durability for the next few years, but it worked out of the box and is working great with the AMD 3900X powered Gigabyte x470 Aorus Ultra motherboard with 32GB of ram. As it is the OS drive home is on separate SATA 2.5 SSD, it wont get written to a lot except for updates and logs… It should last.
Dennis M. –
No pros or cons here either as I do not do those.. Simply to say, this is the first SSD I have ever gotten and placed and worked flawlessly.. Its all I can say about this really Thanks
Anonymous –
This is my first 1T ssd. Its fast enough to load my games and boot up within 10 sec. This SSD is one of the best if you want performance without having to spend too much.
shikaka –
Bought the 2TB version as a secondary drive. Not sure why Best Buy lists max read speed at 2400 as the box which comes with it states 2600 Mbs and performs as such. Does get hot fast without a heatsink but works nevertheless. Comes with a 5yr warranty. Do not buy at price over 225.
James –
If your version of the product boots up as advertised without issues, then its worth the money on a sale. Otherwise the issues mentioned in the Cons section is a bad look for the product if this is common.
Naveen –
Love this bit of hardware. Got a great deal on it. Received it quickly. Id already bought a NVME case to use this to clone my existing smaller capacity NVME. The software Acronis is available for free on the WD site and it works great Had no issues with the cloning itself and this drive is blazing fast. Worth it.
Raymond –
This WD 2TB Blue SN550 NVMe M.2 SSD operates great I originally had bought Samsung 960 pro 512gb for the speed back some time ago and now needed more space. These WD drives are plenty fast and have plenty of extra space
FastPotato –
So far, everything seems to be going well. There was an instance where my PC randomly shut down forgot the error, but it has not occurred since.Upon arrival, everything was well packaged. I was also not expecting a meal card for HelloFresh. Upon taking the item out of the box, it was much smaller than expected. The installation was fairly easy. I am using a separate Hard Drive for paging file in order to preserve the writes to this SSD. You should do if you have a lot of RAM or a separate hard drive, in order to preserve your SSD writes
LGK31 –
The price and the specs were what I was looking for my acer 15e laptop is running faster than when I first got it. I wish I could read Best Buys mind, because a few weeks later, the WD Black version of the ssd I purchased was priced a bit more than 5 what I paid. Im happy with what I got, but Ive learned to be a bit more patient before Black Friday.
Djansen –
I would recommend this to anyone. I used a smaller GB ssd nvme for the os and a few games and just used a cheaper, larger capacity hdd to store more the bulk of things I have but do not use all the time
Mark –
Pros Really quick. Havent really compared it with my sata SSD but the difference between this and my HDD is night and day. 1tb of fast storage for this price is greatCons Took a few minutes to remember that I needed to create a new partition for it to be recognised in Windows. Wouldve helped to have a quick start guide including this as well as the physical installation
AlainMasterMind –
Shopping on best buy for products like a solid state drive is important for me. Delivery is always on time and products are always as described.
Gabe –
super quick boot time much faster than my samsung sata ssd. would highly recommend upgrading from an ssd or normal hard drive if youre still using those to one of these nvme drives
Anonymous –
I bought this on sale for 105.991tb model, and it works great. Much faster load times and boot times are instantaneous. My only issue was with getting windows transferred to it, though this more than likely was user error as opposed to the drive itself. I very much recommend this as a boot drive and your most played games drive long load time games.
Nikkorman –
The WD Blue line of SSD are good quality, solid drives that stay intact. The SN550 NVME 500 Internal PCI SSD offers fast readwrite and reasonably priced. A good upgrade from the OEM SSDs that many manufacturers provide. Also make sure you get WDBLUE, WDGreen is not the same quality. The NVME SSD is super easy to install and boot up. Anything from an i5 to i7 will see a boost in performance with this SSD.
Oliver S –
If you are looking for an NVMe SSD on a budget, this should be your goto. Cheaper than the comparable Samsung drive and unless you are doing some large file transfers, more than adequate performance.
Anonymous –
I bought this m.2 ssd disk and installed it in my HP ENVY 360x with Ryzen 7 4800. It worked perfectly for 2 and a half months, then it began to fail …. the laptop was constantly restarting itself until one day the disk stopped to function completely ….. it is no longer useful … I cant even extract the log to know what the failure was …..
Dan H. –
Really love how sleek and small it is, you can barely see it amongst the other parts. Lightningfast access and file transfer.
Sepboe –
I installed the NVMe into my Mac Pro which was using El Capitan OS. I was a bit surprised that there were no drivers for it and looked online to discover there is no such thing. This forced me to install High Sierra as the OS where, lo and behold, my Final Cut Express was inoperable. It was not a pretty sight. Then I discovered that I cant purchase Final Cut Pro because I dont have a metal graphics card Where does it end I feel like the Spanish Inquisition is settling in for the software industry.
Anonymous –
A little slow for a boot drive, upgraded and Windows 11 is just as slow but Linux always boots immediately. Windows and gaming dont really agree with it. Basically use this drive for Linux or as a big brain cache chip for your NAS
John J. –
I recommend this M.2 drive. I used Neweggs PC Builder guide for a budget AMD PC. I chose a larger ssd than the suggested one, but the rest of their recommendations worked well for me. The prices were good, and it went together well.
John S. –
Had it up and running as the C drive on my dads new PC build but after i turned PC off to install an SSD that came later than other parts i could NOT get the PC to see the drive in any way shape or form nor could my PC see it. SO im forced to give bad rating. The refund process was easy and fast no problems there at all, and my PC has a WDBlack sn750 500 gb as its C drive and it works great so its not WD just that particular drive.
EHatch –
This SSD is working great. I bought it to replace a Inland Sata SSD that was defective. It was easy to install and my motherboards bios was already setup to use it as a boot drive. I love Western Digital products because of the quality they are built with, i know they will last a long time.
STat –
Reliable, decent speeds of about 2400 MBS read speeds on a TLC drive at about 1GB on sale at least Not mention Western Digital is a big name brand, so you know you can at least depend on their quality control and warranty. Decent boot drive and more than youll ever need for gaming.
sonictune –
Fitted to a suitable motherboard socket this is a very fast drive. Usually the device you are copying data from will be the limiting factor in write speed. As with all devices small files will, gigabyte for gigabyte, be much slower to write. I cant comment on reliability as I have only been using the drive for a few weeks but it wouldnt be my first choice as a drive for the operating system i.e. C drive in windows where I would rather invest in the more expensive Samsung products even if that meant using a smaller capacity M.2 on cost grounds.
Zach H –
Super quick install and formatted right away. Love the extra storage and was very cost effective way to add fast storage. Kept OS on other drive. Worked great with ASUS motherboard.
Tjscali –
Its so much faster than anything SATA III. 2000 plus Msecond. I have read other reviews that said that they should include a screw and standoff, but I already had one, or so I thought. I had some frustration searching for the screw and standoff that I thought I had, and then had to pay 6.00 plus wait for it to be delivered Minus a star for that. I would have paid the cost if WD would have included it in the package 50 cents, or at least gave the option.
Anonymous –
It was a good purchase and well worth the money. Games load quickly and the boot screen is almost nonexistent, when comparing to an HDD, and much quicker compared to an SSD.
Verbin W. –
I got the 500GB version and it has been great. I boot my system in less than 12 seconds, I can write files quickly, and I dont see any problems with thermals. The memory has been stable, it has been sufficient for work I keep games and media on different drives, and it compares strongly to my other drives from Wester Digital. I recommend this product, and for the price I got it at, I dont think there was a better drive on the market at the time.
Anonymous –
This is better than I expected. On par with my gaming laptops internal NVME speed. If you are looking for a 2nd storage unit not do not plan to do heavyduty with it e.g. video encoding , I think this gets the job done for 90 of users. Do NOT go for SATA, if your computer supports the format.
Anonymous –
works great in my Apple MacBook Air 13 2015 … BUT … had to buy the Sintech Adapter elsewhere because Digitec doesnt stock it. Would rather have bought BOTH from Digitec, but such is das schwere Leben
giblets –
Benchmarked using CrystalDiskMark, came out as per specs. Works fine in my build as shown at bottom am running as my Windows C boot drive unpartitioned.Realise there are minimal gains over a SATA SSD in most situations but this NVMe was on offer at almost price parity with the equivalent SATA, so no brainer. After using it for a week for gaming and web surfing, powering it up every day, I would say its not noticeably quicker than my other SATA SSD systems.Note on older motherboard chipsets i.e. non X570 it does knockout 2 SATA slots, so if you have lots of legacy drives you may want to stick to a SATA SSD.Final build scan codesMSI B450 tomahawk max LN100730AMD Ryzen 3600 LN99201Corsair 3200 DDR4 LPX 2 sticks total 16GB Ryzen LN82180 not QVL but they workWD Blue N550 Nvme 1 TB LN101870 not QVL but it worksOld PSU Bequiet 630W bronze

Amazing how they put so much memory into such a small chip. My system loads programs real fast and I love it for the price. Plus it is western digital and it is going to last a life time.
Yoshi –
Installation was quick and easy.. I did have to buy a kit with the proper screws off Amazon. Drive works great and is a solid and speedy drive for the price.
Chinn H. –
Surprised the SN550 1TB would not load Windows 10 on a new laptop HP Envy x360 w AMD 4500u. Tried multiple times after reseating. Windows would go through initial install then on a reboot, it would crash blue screen. Intel 660P 1TB NVMe worked fine on the laptop. The SN550 works fine as a portable storage. SN550 1TB is my first NVMe drive that did not load windows. Keeping the SN550 as a portable storage, but will be hesitant to buy another.
Cameron C. –
Overall would recommend for budget or valueminded SSD shoppers. Its sufficiently fast, good storage, and should have pretty good longevity I have only been using it a month as internal laptop storage.
Adam –
Pros Works great as additional storage for my second M.2 slot.Cons The product arrived in a simple cardboard envelope, could see it getting damaged easily.
Anonymous –
Product works great. I would prefer storing essential files in on the SSD such as your OS and your most played games. Note I bought these during the boxing week sale.
Khalid A. –
It will start my windows in just less than 5SEC..idownlod files 20GB50GB it will finish in 1520 SEC first i try it my face was like 0… WD NVME for ever HDD RIP

Very easy to fit drive in the NVMe SSD format. A simple press and screw down and it is in. Perform well, no messy cables and no clutter.

Very good M2 NVME SSD. Easy to install and works just fine. System feels slightly more reactive than with the SATA SSD it replaces.
Mikeb86 –
Very fast drive took 2 mins to insert. Cloned myGame data from a sata ssd. It is a worth while performance boost that load time for my games are almost instant. Shame I havent got any more nvme slots as I would transfer all my drives to nvme.
Jay E. –
Short and sweet. I use this as my gaming drive. Response is exceptional. Had no problems installing it, physically and drivers. Have had it for very long as of yet. But currently, I have absolutely no complaints.
Dale –
Excellent drive Zero problems. I purchased this for an external M.2 drive enclosure and although it wasnt the fastest horse on the block, it was super stable with zero problems. Never had a problem with it and doesnt get too hot.
Mackoul –
This is the second WD Blue SN550 NVMe 500GB drive I have bought and have not had any problems. I am actually using this one as an external drive, by placing it in a NVMe case. The speed is excellent. Recommend this drive

Folks nobody gives you screw for a M.2 drive so please stop complaining about that. This is not the fastest drive out there for read and write times. Runs cool without heatsink even under a big graphics card . Heat spreaders are cool for about five minutes until they get buried under a graphics card. Incredible value for a 1tb M.2 drive and was a nice step up from a older Intel 530 M.2 drive. Purchased a PCIE card and cloned the drive in about three minutes then transferred to motherboard and renamed to C . Most add on cards will need a SATA cable so keep that in mind if you go this route. Did not reach 2400mbs speeds on box but I did not expect it to with six other hard drives in my system. I am sure it would do so with just a operating system installed and nothing else to drag along.

This seems to be a good drive for the price. All the reviews I read were favorable, and once I figured out the initialization process I freaked out a bit when my Lenovo didnt automatically recognize the drive. It would have been nice if Lenovos marketing materials and spec sheets for the Legion 5 mentioned the existence of a second M.2 PCIe NVMe slot I had to discover that fact by accident but Im happy to have an extra TB of storage in an energy efficient drive. well spent.
BM13 –
Using this as a boot drive. Great price, and gets the job done well. My pc boots very quickly. I know there are faster drives, but this one absolutely meets my needs
LORNE R. –
To clear things up for those convinced they absolutely need this you dont. I will say the same goes for PCIE 4.0. You will only see a difference in load times. This will NOT make you a better gamer and your reaction time will NOT improve. You will NOT become a faster graphics renderer or video editor. What this will allow you to do is load large files and applications up quicker. Extensive video editing programs like Adobe Premier and CyberLink PowerDirector will not be bottlenecked when manipulating large HD files and will improve your productivity in that way. So if youre a mediocre video editor, youll remain a mediocre one, just a slightly faster one. As for gaming, again, load times is where you will see the difference. The increase in gameplay framerate is negligible meaning an improvement of 12 frames on 157fps on ultra settings from a conventional SSD is meaningless. An if youre playing on ultra settings, youre not a competitive gamer. Youre a just another player.

1000 GB 932GB is quite enough for me and I had only one m2 slot on the mainboard, and I dont like cables, thats why I bought this. Advice for newbies after you install windows and allocate memory for two partitions, the second one wont be visible in your computer. So go to search Disk management, and you will see there the unallocated memory, you have to allocate a letter usually is D, right after C which is the system, and then format the drive, otherwise it wont work. Voila
Michael V. –
The motherboard I was upgrading to had a heat sink for the slot. I really recommend having one or buying a drive with one. WD Black has one.
TOMMY B. –
I am a WOW player, and this thing boots the game and everything. No more waiting for the game to load up with the new system. This drive is Awesome Thanks New Egg and WD
William N. –
Used this for my new Pc build. ASUS X570 plus MB with a Ryzen 7 3800x. Took less than 15 minutes to install Windows 10 on this drive. Windows boots up in less than a minute. No more mechanical drives for me.
Doge –
Cut my Elder scrolls online load times by 90, absolutely amazing. It instantly loads to the main menu with no delay, and when loading into the game it only takes 13 seconds, before it would be around a minute. But thats only when loading into the game the first time, when switching zones it takes around 56 seconds which is such a crazy improvement that I thought it was a one time fluke. But it does it for all zones which is absolutely crazy. But the best thing is teleporting while inside the same zone. Its instantaneous instead of waiting around 10 seconds to simply switch locations on the same map Highly recommended, but if you do then I recommend getting more storage if you can. I got this for extremely cheap, about 36.It runs relatively cool but then again I have a heat sink for it. While under stress test, it stayed at a cool 36c.
Etorr85 –
I wanted to replace my main hard drive with a SSD, and decided to get this one on sale. This thing is amazing. Super fast, and Western Digital has a good reputation for quality products. It now takes my computer around 3045 seconds to fully boot up. Any file exploring and transfer is almost instantaneous. Im thinking about getting another one for game storage.
Dark L –
Got this SSD about a month ago and I love it. Super fast when it comes to loading my games like warzone. Would recommend anyone else who is thinking about getting this to get it.
Magiclamp –
i originally purchased the samsung evo 750 but i have to return it because of it is consistency overheat. This one seems to be perfect. the hottest temp was about 60c and it stay cool most of the time 40c. comparing to the evo, it was on the high 70s and averaging at the 60c. this might not be the fastest but it is good for thin and light laptop.
mikepend –
Good VFM for 1TB especially in M.2 form. Doesnt come with an heatsink so depending on whether or not your motherboard includes one or its being well ventilated you may want to monitor the temperature. Using Crystal Disk to test, it actually performs slightly better than the specs so good news there. Overall a decent M.2 drive, albeit gen 3.
Neil B –
This is my first M2 drive so cant say how it compares with others. But it is very quick, installed windows in no time, no issues over the 4 days since I installed it. Had a little issue installing with a 3rd party cooler due to the large black chip on the front but thats it. If you want to register it remember the part number is on the front before you put a cooler on it.
Luis E. –
Great product. I wish it came with a ssd guard that the laptops comes with for the ssd thats comes with the order but hopes they add it to inventory in the future.
Jeffrey S –
Im an architectural photographer and the safety and stability of my drives are paramount. I chose WD Blue SSD M.2 as part of my RAID 1 setup. While not as fast as WD Black Im using them in a server configuration so speed isnt critical.I do use WD Black SSD M.2 as my boot drive.
rava7759 –
This SSD works well as an external or internal drive once the correct housing is purchased. Bear in mind that the format for NVME differs from bod standard M2.
Donna C. –
Installed into my MSI z270 procarbon mobo to replace my antique WD HDD… eh hem, there is a VAST improvement in boot time and over all responsiveness. So far, so good.
Noah A. –
Title says it all. I dont regret using one of these for my boot drive, despite it being a bit more expensive than a SATA SSD. Highly recommend putting your OS and essential programs on this if youre doing a new build and can afford spending a little extra.
Thomas M. –
Id definitely do your homework to make sure it will work in your computer. Definitely dont buy it your putting it in a asus rog laptop. The two on paper say they are compatible but it just doesnt work.
Rex M. –
This Western Digital M.2 is part of a new system that replaced a pc that was 11 years old. Performance wise there is no comparison between the new and old systems. Windows boots incredibly fast off the M.2 drive and programs load quickly. In addition to the overall speed, this machine is very quiet as the power supply, CPU cooler, graphic card, and case fans make little noise. Im very please with the new system and as usual Newegg ordering, shipping and overall pricing was excellent, as expected.

When I finally got the go ahead to build a new PC, I was surprised to discover NVMe SSDs. Based on my research at Toms Hardware, I went with the WD Blue drive. WD is a brand that has always treated me well so far, this drive is no different. Easy install, snappy start up, and I love that I have more than enough space for on demand gaming library.Have noticed that the drive doesnt respond well when doing a userbenchmark profile. Still trying to ascertain if its a drive issue or a user issue.
jbsquires –
While I didnt need a top of the line PCIe M.2 drive for the build I was working on, The WD Blue SN550 delivers solid performance and a great price point. Also being a PCIe NVME drive it has Windows 10 booting quickly.
Matthew W. –
Games and OS load super fast. How much faster than my other SSD For games I dont know if I can tell all that much of a difference. Can definitely tell during program installation though. Plus youre saving space in the rest of the case for other gamemedia SSDs.
Anonymous –
Installed for my secondary NVMe drive, purely for games since my main drive is overloaded way too quickly with games that are 100GB now. Copying games over to this one was incredibly quick from my main NVMe drive … 1.5GBps. And 550MBps from my regular SSD. No issues so far, so looks like a good buy.
Billy –
WD always makes a solid memory device. The SSD runs great for my gaming needs and is compatible with most motherboards on the market.

Really happy so far. Ill give it a while to see . Kinda funny. Review got flagged for unacceptable words. I said ,I plugged it in and scred it down.

I hear it works great on Windows, but if a company cant make a product work with Linux. I have to wonder if they did any real world testing and Linux is free, but the time to test it, way to much for a big corpo. I will be sending it back and avoiding Western digital unless its a HDD for a NAS if that…
Kaboos454 –
I would absolutely recommend this ssd to anybody in need of a small but quick storage drive. But if you think you need more than a Terabyte of storage, you probably do.
DonnyJ –
I bought this drive so I would have a lot of fast storage in a tiny device. This delivers. I popped it in my XPS 9550, installed Linux, and boom. It just worked.
Anonymous –
Only issue is with older motherboards like the B450 is getting it to migrate is not that good. I had to load windows 10 from scratch. The other issue is with my board anyway is I loose sata port 56 to this ssd and my machine did not play well in the beginning but moving drives around now it works as it should.
IT Guy –
The drive itself works great. I bought it to go in my new Dell G7 laptop. It would of been nice if either the laptop especially or the drive came with the oddly necessary internal mounting hardware. Had to fashion my own. But the drive performance is excellent.
Ron –
The Geek Squad changed a slow HDD for this SSD. The performance of my PC has improved signifigently with regard to boot times, refresh times and operating efficiencies.
Sebastien T. –
Decided to bring a m2 to a computer already useing a few standards SSDs and 2HDDs that have been there since 2014. Usual stuff plug, format, use. Came back home one evening and computer suddenly wasnt showing it. Tried reinstalling it, putting it on a different computer, no luck. Since it wasnt DOA and I never had a drive break before at least 5years of heavy useage I got rid of thew box so I cant replace it.
Micallgar –
Absolutely love this NVME drive. The price is great and performance is even better. The speed in which everything loads and renders is awesome. Worth upgrading to 1 TB for sure. The installation was a snap, the WD software for cloning and dashboard is easy to use . I plan on getting another 1 TB for my laptop which is a far better solution performance and cost wise than purchasing from the manufacturer for upgrading.
leduan1981 –
Just got this 500gb to upgrade from a 128gb ssd that came with the laptop hp14dk1003dx. Works perfectly. Just installed windows on it from a usb drive. Easy to do in less than 30 mins.
Mike C. –
If you want the best of the best, top of the line, buy something else. This is just a solid average for m.2 ssd. I use it for game installation for hefty requirement games and it performs great.
Anonymous –
I would recommend this product, specially if you are upgrading from HDD to SATA SSD or M.2. for a few more dollars you just plug it. No extra cables, little power overhead, no bottlenecking your system, and it is faster if your motherboard supports PCIe 3.0 pretty standard nowadays. Althought I have been using it only for a couple weeks usually WD has great quality and they have a good warranty policy so you are safe. I guess time will tell how it holds in the long run. I tried to give it 5 eggs but for some reason my browser is stuck at 4
Mr. N. –
The product is what it says it is… the performance is all I needed.. The software is just extra to me… even with the hassle I experienced Wad nothing to do with the actual drive itself. Highly recommend for budget NVMe m.2
Steven –
Been using this to record gameplay to and render videos on and so far its been doing well. Remuxing only takes seconds and transferring files to and from it is so fast I dont have time to get a cup of water. Half a TB for under 60 this year has had some very good value as far as storage goes
Brent –
Great Item used this in other builds. But Walmart took forever to ship it causing me to buy another one and just hold onto this.
Brian –
Mechanically, it worked just fine. Problem is, dont believe the advertising. I would occasionally see 1.5 read speeds, usually 900 1000. I just really dont like being misled by 200. Other than that it has performed solidly but slower than i would have liked. Projects take longer.
MikeF –
Comparable specs and warranty to similar drives. WARNING stay away from WD Green as it only has a 60 TBW lifetime terabytes written rating as opposed to this drive with 300 TBW.
Norman W –
WD has always made a quality internal storage drive and the SSD NVMe is no different. Recommend this drive to increase access stored information. Easy to install.
LGStove –
This little guy is doing its job for real. Geek squad installed it and glad I did. Now I have enough space for all my future music software updates and synth programs. Have an blessed day in the Lord Jesus Christ name.
Anonymous –
Small price for small capacity but fast nvme speeds makes for a good boot drive. Reputable brand hasnt given me any problems yet.
jpl7 –
For someone brought up on floppy discs and 40Mbyte hard drives, these solid state discs are amazing. Great performance and great value. The Scan website is easy to use, and the delivery was perfect.Great job.
Rennak31 –
Works great in my college sons laptop. He was running out of space and we added this second drive in his laptop specifically for storage. Now he has lots of room.Kudos to Geek Squad for installing it for us since the mounting screw in the Asus laptop was sealed with LocTite under the motherboard. They did a great job of removing the screw and not stripping it out.
gokujou –
Picked this up on sale and it was a great value. Drive is pretty fast being NVMe and it is only triple layered vs the other budget drives that are quad layered. I still prefer single or dual for life of the drive, but for the price this is way better.

Im using it only for video games right now, lol, because I already have my system files on a 960GB SATA SSD booting in about 10 secondswho really cares if it could boot faster than that, and because I want my main games to load as fast as possibleShadow of the Tomb Raider, Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V.My only complaint is that I wish it came with an M2 screw.
Kevin M. –
If in need of an NVMe and dont feel it necessary to spend the cash on the higher priced gaming ones like the WD Black, you wont feel much of a difference with the WD Blues. If you say you can tell a difference in speed from simple usage not benchmarking youre plain lying.I prefer WD Black drives due to the performanceminded nature of that series, but for the cost, I cant be mad at the performance of this drive. I definitely recommend.
Anonymous –
This is a great gaming drive for the money. Some may say you need a firecuda or western digital black, but Im happy with the performance of this drive. I own 2 for gaming.
Blaine C –
This hard drive was ridiculously easy to install, and it blew my mind how fast it booted my OS and loads all my games. Not going to find better performance x price ratio.
Dean –
The hardest part of installing this drive was taking apart the HP Spectre X360 that needed it. A fresh install of Windows 10 using a USB recovery drive was a piece of cake. The WDC drive appears to be substantially faster than the original equipment Liteon SSD. As always, the Western Digital stores order fulfillment was fast and accurate.
Alex –
Pros cheap. performance as per spec. keeps cool.Cons not specifically. i really cannot come up with something specific to this product.
Anonymous –
Cheap. Fast. Reliable. Its storage not much to say but it works and it works great and on the cheaper side compared to others with same space.
mosdeft –
Boot speed is ridiculously fast now and everything else runs faster and smoother. HUGE upgrade from a HDD. Feels like a different PC now
Gadfly –
This is my go to SSD. Stable, fast, and reasonably priced. Ive used both this .5 TB and the 1 TB versions. It works well for both productivity and gaming.
Anonymous –
I already have the 512Gb version of this drive so I knew what to expect. The first drive is 6 months old and is so far reliable. Speed is very quick and to be honest, in real world situations, I struggle to see the difference between this and the fastest NVME PCI3.0x4 drives. Scan delivered this quickly with plenty of updates as to progress and it arrived well packed via DPD.My first minor niggle is that the drive has no heatsink so you have to buy one if it doesnt go into a motherboard slot with a preinstalled heatsink. This is not uncommon. My second minor niggle is that the controller in these drives uses some of your system memory to lower the cost of production. While this lack of onboard memory could cause slowdowns and latency issues, you dont really notice with only sustained writes dropping off after 30 seconds.

Already spoiled by my 2 years old MX500 performance i was not expecting something really different but boy this thing screamsHaving 2 empty nvme pcie 3.0 slots i said to myself why not Very glad to get it at a decent price thank you Neweeg and moved all my games between this and the MX500.created 2 partitions a smaller one for OS for backup purpose Now just enjoying OS and games library on ssd performance and no more HHD except for some data where access read and write does not matter to me.Computer very responsive all around. Fantastic drive.
Andrew W. –
I was in the market for a 12 TB SSD and say this come in at a fantastic price. Benchmarks show its not the fastest on the market but probably has the best priceperf ratio. Was able to clone my previous entire 500GB nearly full SN500 NVME SSD in 25 minutes. Plug and play functionality using MSI B450i and Ryzen 3700X. No disappointments here.
Aidan H. –
So far, this SSD gets a big recommend from me. Great bang for the buck. Im sure there are better SSDs out there, but this one has great performance for the price and serves as a great entrylevel NVMe drive.
ObiJonVinobi –
Absolutely love this NVME drive. the Price is absolutely great and performance is even better. i now have 2 of these in my system and they are rock solid. The speed in which everything loads and renders is awesome. Worth upgrading to NVME for sure.
Benjamin R. –
Overall, Im incredibly happy with this. I definitely note my OS loads even faster than my 2.5 SSD before it, and the price point is perfect. It was straightforward to install, and does away with adding more SATA cables to your case. Definitely a great purchase
Anonymous –
Great upgrade for pcie 2.0 system. Added this using a Pcie X4 to NVME adapter to leverage full X4 channels. Getting 1.7 1.4 GBps readwrite speed pcie 2.0 X4 max is 2.0GBps. Install took a few attempts to nail the X4 mode via pcie adapter mobo m.2 was limiting to X2 mode and half the speed. Steps used to migrate win10 from old drive to this one 1 Boot Disk cloned via Acronis WD software 2 used MBR2GPT.EXE comes in win10 to convert disk from MBR to GPTUEFI necessary to boot from NVME drive 3 Used minitool partition software to resize the partitions on the NVME disk 4 Selected this disk from BIOS as first boot device
bobbymch57 –
Literally no complaints about this drive. PCIe Gen 3×4 is more than fast enough for an average user and everything on my PC boots up super quickly
kt12 –
After using a hard drive in my laptop, it was unbearable to use anymore. After installing this M.2 drive, my laptop was given new life. Highly recommend this over any hard drive or ssd.
Tony M. –
This is an excellent value for money. It is a fast, stable little drive that just performs. System boots in 10 seconds. GIMP loads in 5 seconds.
Michael C –
Using it as an external SSD to my 2017 iMac 27 5K. Using the original cable that came with the Orico enclosure, getting similar readwrite speeds actually a little faster on this NVME than internal boot drive. Ive had it for a day now and installed Big Sur as the macOS and so far so good. Completed transfer of 420Gb in less than an hour using Migration Assistant. I Will report back in 30 and 90 days to see if its trustworthy as my main boot drive on the iMac.
Anonymous –
So other reviews of drive lasting under a month, mine had the same fate. Im just running standard windows 10 on it. No task load games yet.
Anonymous –
I had no problems installing and loading Win 10.First SSD Ive bought. Computer boots in a flash and per benchmarking is about 10 times as fast as a HD in the same computer.Of course it doesnt make programs faster that dont use much disk such as Vegas movie.
giubaloo –
Excellent NVMe drive for both OS or storage purposes Especially for the common sale price of 95, you cant go wrong for a very good quality budget NVMe drive.
Jinqi S –
Great value for the space. Great for secondary drive for games and stuff. Uses very little power and idle pretty cool temperatures.
River –
Is doing what it should. only issue is it didnt come with a screw to secure the end down. Not totally necessary, but would be good to have the option for the fraction of a penny that would cost WD. Not Scans fault, but they could include better descriptions. Had to buy a screw from ebay so took a few additional days that expected to complete the build.
Mario D. –
Cheap and easy way to upgrade my 2 in 1 HP Envy x 360 storage. I couldnt get the advertised speeds but the speeds are still great. WD has been very reliable for me and I trust their products. I wish they would update their documentation that would tell you to go use the WD Acronis software to clone and transfer your OS on your PC. I would recommend if you are looking to upgrade on the cheap and dont need top end speeds. This drive is for the average everyday user that want good speed and reliability.
G. Padilla –
The ad said this was a great upgrade but it did not fit any slots on my motherboard, I cannot use, asked to return, was told no refunds, only exchanges. Asked for help, no return calls or emails. There goes a 60 loss.
Gregory d –
WD makes amazing products and this one really blew me away, windows boots up in a matter of seconds, and download times are lightning quick overall a great drive.
Mark N. –
Id recommend it. It was a great price for the speeds, size, and type of drive. Plus, WD isnt a noname brand and have a good reputation I have HDDs from 2012 which still run perfectly fine. For me, that was very important, as Id rather pay a bit more for something with quality and reputation than something where I might save a bit of money but then pay for it down the line.
Cwilson –
WD Blue are the best drives. Every one I buy adds super fast speed to the device I put it in. The boot time is so must faster. And shut down is fast too.
Jeaguilar –
Ive been using Western Digital products for around 20 years and I have never been let down. This NVME SSD offers an excellent blend of price to performance. Highly recommended
Josh C –
I got this SSD over the typical Samsung EVO or Pro models. Very comparable speeds and performance. On paper and in benchmarks it is maybe a touch slower but after having used a Samsung that a friend had, the difference is negligible.
Terrell B. –
This is an awesome SSD from Western Digital. I used this in a build for my niece and was plugnplay for her setup. Ive used Western Digital in past builds and would recommend this SDD to anyone looking for a great drive for their system. The quality and performance from this device is impeccable
Anonymous –
I have a couple of these on my workstations, and theyre pretty reliable. The only thing is Im not too sure about the color blue, but if you hide it under a heatsink, you cant really tell.
Anonymous –
this item works really good. Easy to install and setup. Storage as described
Anonymous –
Worth the price, and installed pretty easy. The only reason it is getting a fourstar instead of a five stars because I had to move one of the pegs on the motherboard to be able to mount it. And I think thats more of me being lazy haha.
nickelman50 –
Excellent ssd hard drive. Replaced 128Gb SSD. In Macbookpro early 2015 with this 500Gb SSD and the improvement was incredible. The speed improved about 3 fold and obviously gave me more storage. Thoroughly recommended

So heres the thing. I stabbed this little wafer of silicone into my recently purchased ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 PCIe 3.0 x4 Expansion Card in order to upgrade my computer from 2012 Motherboard is Gigabyte GA990FXAUD3. My motherboard cant drive this thing at its full potential, but it still blows the doors and every other component of a domicile off my old SATA hard drives and even my SATA SSD. Load times of whatever I put on this SSD were obviously significantly improved over any SATA component I own … that much I expected. What I didnt expect was that it also improved game performance of titles that Ive transferred to it. For instance, I fired up Borderlands 3 on this little baby, and load times were roughly 3040 faster … something like from 330 down to around 2ish minutes. Then ingame, I was able to increase graphics settings without having changed any other hardware or settings while maintaining 60FPS I have the game capped at 60 because reasons. Load times between scenes were also obviously improved. Word to the wise, if you use Steam to transfer a game to an SSD like this one, your config files will probably be reset to default like mine was. I did have to pull it up for BL3 and change the pool size override from 1 to 1 in order to prevent the classic stuttering common to many Unreal Engine games. Meanwhile, while this device works quite nicely for spreading jam on your toast, I dont recommend it because it will get all sticky. You really dont want that in your computer. The only thing that would make me happier with this SSD would be if it would actually just shut up and make me a sandwich already. Well, that and if it contained a tear in the fabric of spacetime which would thus give it all the storage space I could ever want. Who knows, maybe I could even put some book shelves in there.
George C. –
Easy to install and clone using Western Digitals software. Highly recommend this SSD. Very fast and large storage capacity.
Anonymous –
Not the highest quality m.2 Ive ever used. For games, music and basic storage this dose the job with no problem. Save a buck run this.
Anonymous –
Highly recommend. I used this for my first PC build and it was super easy to install. The performance is incredible
Colin A. –
I havent done any benchmark testing or anything like that, but it went right into my laptop and has worked like a charm. Great product if you arent trying to squeeze every drop of speed out of a drive.
Emjay –
Great value for a 1TB nvme storage drive. I would definitely recommend. It looks like its the same thing as the sandisk version except WD slapped their brand on it so you could probably get away with buying the Sandisk one if its cheaper.
Edgar M. –
Im thinking theres almost no reason anymore to go SSD. Sure, their price per GB is still considerably higher than mechanical drives, but I feel its compensated by the fact a lot is now being pushed to cloud and streaming services. No more movies, music or photos on the PC anymore. On paper, the SN550 is far from the fastest. But in realworld usage, it doesnt matter. If you look it up, youll see that for general system performance, gaming or even light to moderate productivity, SATA SSDs to all the way to PCIe 4.0 nVME drives perform extremely similarly. Why nVME then instead of a cheaper SATA SSD Cables… got rid of a whole power cable from the power supply, and a SATA cable. And its now all attached directly to the motherboard… CPU, RAM, hard drive… easier than ever to migrate. Lazy… but its a plus
Philip B. –
Im very pleased with this purchase. After I shut down fully, my computer now boots in 13 seconds I dont know if this drive realistically any faster than a SATA SSD for the type of computing I do MS Office and some casual gaming, but its certainly good enough for me.
mankirk1 –
SSD is super fast, easy to install, and a great value. Why risk data loss due to head crashes and mechanical failures using a mechanical hard drive This Western Digital unit is larger than most hard drives and plenty of space for a video producer or digital artist and the price cant be beta.
JosephG94 –
Desperately needed more space from the initial 128 GB SATA SSD I had in my machine, I grabbed this for 115. Got home, cloned the SSD in 30 minutes and unplugged the old one. Works perfect for me, windows boots absurdly fast and I can scrub through a UHD timeline with absolutely no lag. Just wish the larger ones werent double the price.
Alevino –
Will recommend. Ideal for upgrade boot drive for no so fast computers. Put your OS and go
