Pros Once focused, good picture quality.Cons Exceptionally loose zoom look up or down on e.g. a tripod itll fall in or out. There is a zoom lock, but it only works when fully wound in. I have talked to the retailer about it apparently its normal. Its terrible It comes with a hood which blocks out the picture as well as the light in some circumstances. Struggles or takes a long time to focus sometimes.

I bought this lens because I didnt want to carry several lenses around when using my camera. The lens can handle 18mm which is the wide angle and 200mm which is a massive zoom and it does this brilliantly. I like the fact that it is lightweight and looks good. I would definitely buy such a lens again.
glosterbill –
I first bought this model lens 2 years ago, but pexed it for a different lens, which I regretted later. When I saw this lens on Ebay, I just had to make a bid and got lucky the Tamron is great value for money and turns out better pictures with excellent colours than the professional reviews suggest, used on a Pentax Kx DSLR. I would recommend it to photographers on a budget, Its only fault is a slow focus in poor light.
Mike –
I use this lens on a Sony SLT a33, and it is the perfect complement for this lightweight camera. I use it primarily when Im hiking, because I do NOT want to be changing lenses in the woods. This lens gives me 18200mm 27300mm equiv w.r.t. 35mm, so it can do it all. Sometimes the autofocus is not perfect, but its close enough and I use manual focus most of the time anyway. Some people think the autofocus is slow, but I havent had any problems with the speed. I use a shorter lens 1855mm indoors with a flash, so that there is no shadowing of the flash in portrait shots.
influxpc –
This lens is such a great deal The price is fantastic and the qualityspeed is great. I was looking at other lenses for double the price. I am not a professional but my family pictures are important to me. This has the quality I need and and fits my T4i without any hassle.

This is my go to intermediate travel lens, when folks say HEY come on out… this is the lens I take, when I see something in transition that I need to shoot quickly, this is the lens I take, when I am at a show and just need a few shots to remember the moment or promote my services, this is the lens I take. well worth the money, despite the annoying reverse zoomturn direction when compared to a standard Canon lens. AND as the name of the lens indicates… when its time to zoom in and get DETAIL shots, of eyes, lips, rings, fabric, or whatever… THIS is the lens I take.
thuand2006 –
This is a classic allinone multi focal formula that is the staple for both Sigma and Tamron. There is a new improved model for this lens but unfortunately the newer lens doesnt come in Pentax KF mount so I have to buy this older model. I am very happy with it because it is convenient to have only one lens on your camera, which can cover nearly all the shots you normally take. The price is right because it is from an independent lens manufacturer and it is made in VietNam where labor is dirt cheap.
daffyducknj –
I bought this as a general purpose lens for my Pentax Kx. The focal range is exactly what I need to reduce lens changes. With the Kx and newer Pentax DSLRs, its surprisingly good for capturing low light shots, thanks to the excellent high ISO performance and sensor stabilization. While I wouldnt use this lens for fast sports shots, it would work well out on the golf course, or for tennis perhaps.Be careful if you use this with the builtin flash. Any focal length starting at 28 or higher should do for that purpose. Just dont forget to take off the lens hood. Otherwise, get a dedicated digital flash unit something Im still looking for.
BFRNF –
It was a good lens, but it really didnt compare to the Canon brand equivalent… I had a really hard time getting this lens to function in low light and it really was not that impressive with focusing. HOWEVER, it is a decent, low price choice for someone who would like to not have to change lenses ALOT. The hood was a cool addition but leaves a strange shadow in the pictures and I dont know who designed the lens cap but they need to be shot I gave it 35 stars for these reasons. I will definitely do the job, but I decided I wanted better.
chbed.el.j5l6sy4xh6 –
This is an outstanding walk around lens. Well built, with solid optics good sharpness and rapid focus. It wont cost you an arm and leg either. Highly recommended.
India Lover –
I am a very amateur photography who is learning all about lenses. I have Sony Alpha with 2 kit lenses. They were fine for someone like me. But I HATE changing out the lenses or having to carry them around just in case. So I decided to get this lens. All the previous reviews are pretty accurate. The lens is good and reliable, I am impressed with the quality that this lens generates. It is a bit loud and not the best for low lighting. But I have not really mastered photography in low light settings yet anyway, Overall I am very very pleased with this choice. I almost got the 18270 Tamron but the cost difference is pretty big and this 18200 is more than enough for me.
TIMOTHY –
I have been using this product for a couple weeks now and Ive taken hundreds of pictures with it. The quality of the photos is good for this price point. Focus is kind of slow and a little loud but its Not any slower or any louder than my 50 mm 1.8 prime. Overall I only have two minor quarrels with this product. 1. When zoomed all the way out it is kind of out of balance even on a 60D But that is kind of what you come to expect when you are using 18 200 mm lens. 2. IMO the zoom ring is kinda stiff making it very hard sometime impossible to zoom smoothly for video. That also means it has no zoom creep. But other than those minor problems it is a great lens amazing picture quality and build Quality that At least to me feels better than the canon 18200 at less than half the price.
balagooon –
Theres no such thing as a free lunch and the Tamron is no exception here. The extreme zoom range combined with the small lens dimensions comes at cost of some compromises. One is the rather slow max. aperture which limits the creative potential regarding shallow depthoffield and the other compromise is, naturally, optical quality. In absolute terms the lens shows rather extreme distortions at the 18mm and vignetting as well as border quality dont impress either. The latter is also true for the 200mm setting. Nonetheless the lens is capable to deliver decent quality images under controlled conditions reads f8 see also the sample shots. In the field the Tamron AF 18200mm XR felt far more convincing than the Sigma AF 18200mm DC thanks to a decent AF performance so if it has to be such an extreme zoom lens the Tamron is the better bet. For critical applications you should consider to split the zoom range into at least two lenses though.
Photo Matt –
Ad didnt indicate that it came with a lens cover so I ordered one separately. There is a lens cap included so now I have two. Also comes with lens hood. Compact, highly versatile lens. Works fine for 95 of casual picture taking.
Brian –
Pros Good wide angle and zoom, quick to use, no requirement now for separate zoom and wide angle lens. lens lock is good, stops lens from opening inadvertently.Cons lens is quite heavy, needs a steady hand, but not as heavy as my existing 300mm lens.
tamirarc11 –
Hello. I bought the lens from ebay exclusively with Nikon d40 mine. After a series of photographs I made with her including photographic depth of field I am just quite happy. I have a problem with the Zoom 200, need to keep an accurate measurement of light on the object being photographed, so that shadows will be created. Overall pretty pictures too sharp 200mm zoom. The lens is very friendly and easy to operate auto focus fast enough. I must stress that I use is only amateur, tours, etc. reasons.
emipalito –
Excellent product. It is my 2nd lens after a 1855 nikon and I can easily see the quality difference Im glad to have this lens. Excellent performance and versatility. If you are starting on this, buy it
makatamiba –
Ive used the lens on two outings and Im quite pleased with it. Im an amature photographer but quite serious. The equivalent Nikon lens is a little too pricy for me at present and Ive used other Tamron lenses in the past with good results. Its about the same size as the Nikon and although much lighter it seems well made and sturdy. I like the lock. It doesnt have VR but thats not a biggie. It has a generous warrenty but I got an additional one to add accidental dammage. I think its an outstanding value.
comodisc –
A nice multipurpose lens, good glass, I liked it enough Im going to buy one for my Canon as well. While mounted on the camera it fits nicely into my camera bag. I miss the longer range of my 70300 sometimes but it isnt anywhere near this versatile. Less lens changes, more photos. Its light enough that my wife doesnt mind using it. Build quality is okay, nothing spectacular but workmanlike. The relative low price makes it more expendable, a plus since I take over 5000 photos any given week.
butcherjohn2011 –
needed a lens for close wide angle and zoom .this 18 to 200mm is perfect no more changing lenses this lives on my camera at all times. although on nikon d3100 it gives lovely photos. like the motor for focusing to. a very good buy.
nanakay823 –
I had one of these and sold it when I bought a D60 and sold my D70. I always missed this lens. The best walk around lens on the market. I now have a D200 and so I purchased another. I keep trying to find a better lens but so far no luck. You cannot go wrong with this lens. With 18 to 200 you are always ready for any shooting situation. It loves F11 or F8 .5 exposure compensation on my D200.
PATRICIA –
Needed an AF zoom to replace my all MF 35mm zoom. Read reviews on line, asked questions on photo forums and compared lenses and prices. Went with the Tamron and have enjoyed the crisp, clear images, quick AF. It is becoming my walk around lens. I do find the zoom barrel can creep when held angled up or down, but it has not been an issue. I do like the lock feature on the zoom.
mybottomhurts –
Not very good in the low light conditions, auto focus keeps hunting, needs light. Image not too sharp at low F stops, doesnt get better till F5.6 F11. A good walk about lens thought for general photography. One size fits all so to speak. Small and robust, and quiet focusing. Armature use only though, but priced low, so go for it.
darrellbruggeman –
I got this lens for a great price and so far it is a great all around daily carry lens. I did not think there would be that much difference between a kit lens and this one, but was I dead wrong. I have not found a flaw yet.
milind –
I use it with Nikon D90 works well for most situations great lens for all situations. Some times when LiveView LCD is used, it can not focus and hangs at infinity. I need to change the zoom and move the focus ring to help it focus. Works well with viewfinder.Picture is not as sharp as a 50 mm prime nikon but then i did not expect it to be.
Mike –
I had a Nikon D50 with two lens that didnt overlap in range and had to change in the field too often. Sometimes I wanted something in the range that wasnt covered. The 18200 does it all and is the only lens I need. It handles easily and gives quick accurate focus. If there is a problem with the lens I have not found it yet.
Lou –
I use the lens with a Canon EOS Rebel T1i. I have two more Tamron zoom lenses, all have the same problem only part of the pictures are in focus see the attached sample. Often times, readjustment of the picture arrangement is necessary to get the lens to focus at all. Otherwise, it would be recommendable.
simano55 –
I purchased a used TAMRON 18200mm lens to substitute the 1855mm and 50200mm kit lenses that came with my new PENTAX KX just recently purchased. Not withstanding the reviews about this lens being a tradeoff in performance, convenience and price, like other brand lenses in this range, my initial expectations were not set too high, however, after shooting under different conditions, I must say that Im very satisfied with it. Especially the 35 to 100mm range exhibits a very sharp image with little to no noticeable chromatic aberration or lens distortion. At the wide and long ends of its range, I manage to get excellent results by keeping the fstop around f8 or f11 and for images meant to be blown up to large sizes, the Photoshop lens chroma and distortion filter works great…besides my PENTAX KX has a setting for lens distortion and chroma correction as well. The color rendition and contrast Im getting can be favorably compared to my original PENTAX lenses on an every day, real world situation. I get consistent good images at high ISO settings which compensates for what you would get with faster lenses costing two or three times more. I recommend this lens for the overall image quality and price.
on2mambo –
This lens I bought for my niece. It is a good lens to cover 18200 mm as she learns more about photography for the time being. It is quite handy to do what it is intended to do and does capture nice images.
Jack –
Lens does everything I need it to do. Great for candid shots of the Family and Grand Kids. The price was right and the quality is fine. I also use it for Nature Macro shots and get good results. I am not a Pro, just a hobbiest, so this Lens more than does the job for me, and it saves switching from the 1855 to 55250 that came with my EOS t3.Havent found any Cons yet, and dont think I will. I would definitely recommend this lens to a friend.
caseace –
While not as sharp or accurate as the Nikon 18200 at around a 3rd the price this lens represents amazing value for money. For the average user this is the only lens youll ever need. Takes decent closeups, and has the ability to go telephoto if required, without switching to another lense
575vft –
Bought this lens to replace a very worn Sigma lens of the same focal lengths. Just fancied a change. A very well put together lens with very little distortion. A hundred times better that the Nikon kit lens which distorts like an old Coke bottle. Best bit about this lens is the price. Superb quality at a great price.
agreement7365 –
I bought this lens as a compromise in not having to carry two lens with me, a small one for closeup shots and a longer one for shots further away. Ive not had the lens for very long but in that time it has proven to be exactly what I wanted. The shots are very clear, its not too heavy to carry and the ability to do closeup and longer distance shots has been good.
fotographx –
Ive had this lens for several years and it has been a real work horse for me. Ive taken some very good photos with this lens. I really like it. It is a very nice improvement over the kit lens. Im not really fixated on the slow focus or difficult to focus in low light, just switch to manual focus and youre good to go. I bump up the ISO to keep the shutter speed up. Ive gotten other glass since this lens but I keep coming back to this one for general all around shooting. Ive put it through some rough situations on several Jeep adventures and so far no problems with the lens.
Traveler –
On a trip very often not another time to change lens. That one covers the full range. Even when in full zoom if your hand is stable it gives pretty good pictures without tripod.
Trish –
This is a new lens for my first DSLR and I really like it so far. Its not too hard to use and the size is very manageable. The price on the lens was great on buydig.com and it seems very high quality. Customer service was great and it arrived SUPER fast.
Binaya –
I got this lens for my canon T2i. This being my first DSLR camera, i did not want to spend much money on lens and at the same time I was looking for getting a wide range lens. I heard about Tamron and researched. When I bought it I knew it would take time for auto focusing in low light, but I was ready to compromise. Now I got the lens and I am very happy with it. It is not good in low light but if you learn how to use manual focus in low light, it will not be that bad. This does not have Vibration Compensation, but it is great. It has got a great zoom and pictures come out really nice. You get what you pay. 100 rebate made it even better.
Don –
Pros Saves weight and room. Very versatile zoom range. Good images but superb using a tripod. Excellent value. Good quality and build.Cons The only bad thing for me is the lens creep where under gravity, the zoom opens to its fullest extent when hanging down from your neck. At 18mm there is a lock which prevents this but once the lock is off, the zoom can open up and take you by surprise if you arent aware of it. The Nikon equivalent does the same thing. No VR but this lens costs three times less than the Nikon equivalent.
raydeeoh246 –
I have a Tamron 18600mm lens 62mm thread which weights around 3times as much, but doesnt give me the clarity this lens does I think the bigger lens is too much for my little Canon SL1, or it was a lemon to begin with. The Tamron 18200mm feels like plastic, but I get crystal clear photographs with my setup.
gieandy –
I am using it for my Canon Rebel XS. It is a little bit heavier than my usual canon lenses best thing though is I dont have to carry two or three lenses during a tripwalk or hike. So far I am happy how clear the pictures that I have taken using the Tamron lens.
scttwlkr –
I bought this lens, because I personally feel like the images produced with it, are much better than the Canon 18200 kit lens. Definitely a solid lens choice.
VANESSA –
As a pro event photographer, iStock contributor and generalist shooter with a penchant for urbanstreet, enviro portraiture and cycling, Im not happy with this lens at all nor with the previous nearversion 18250. Anyone that says this lens is sharp has not yet experienced better glass on their camera. Yes, its a good lens for the price, but that doesnt make it a good lens. Ya get what ya pay for. Focus is slow. Hunting is bad. Creep is ridiculous. Bokeh is weak. Sharpness lacks. I learned to squeeze the best performance out if it I could f8, not racked out, no more than 200 ISO in good lighting with auto focus point detection when using AFC, but all those limitations came at a price. I do have a good copy and I did adjust FB focus a lot. Ive since bought pro glass and this lens has been benched as backup for travelwalkaround photography. Too bad, too. I read good things about it which is why I bought it in the first place. If youre anything more than a casual autoshooter saving droves of JPEGs on your computer, invest in better glass than this youll be glad you did. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because it would be a good starter lens for a novice.
Paul –
Pros Versatility, size its smaller thean the Nikon 70 200 lens we have. Bought it for my wife as she was always having to swop lenses alll the time. She is very pleased wih it.Cons Bit Heavy
Anonymous –
Pros full 18 to 200 mm in a single lens, no need to swap lenses, light weight.Cons tendency for barrel to creep is the lense is help vertically. noisy autofocus compared to nikkor 1855 or 55200 . plastic feel to the build.
pictureitcac –
I use my 18200mm quite a bit while shooting landscapes and or portraits. I love how lightweight and compact it is. The quality seems quite nice. So far and Ive had it for almost two weeks, I love it and am happy I finally sold two lenses to consolidate to just one that does it all.Im loving it
dca3611 –
This lens leaves more to be desired. I would recommend the VC version due to the fact that this lens cannot produce sharp results at any focal length, aperture, or set shutter speed. The lens does have decent performance where there is good lighting. Some nice things about the lens compressibility it can become very compact, metal mount durability, Build quality made from plastic, but a solid lens nonetheless, afmf switch, and the 18200 range is great if you cannot switch lenses. Would be a great lens if it had vibration control, therefore I recommend the VC version of this same lens.
Bala –
I bought this lens 2 months ago as my 1855mm stock lens failed after 4 yrs. Overall, Im very satisfied with this lens, primarily for the versatility it gives 18200mm although some question whether it really goes up to 200mm. It helps avoid changing lenses. The shortfall is that it thinks a bit while focusing, especially in the telephoto range. It is a bit heavy too, but Im okay to live with that.
erwinrm –
I bought this lens for my daughter. Shes just starting to learn photography on my old T2i and I didnt want her to get distracted with swapping out lenses. This lens fit the bill nicelybig zoom range, and had good reviews.
moonstar121rs –
this was a great bargin. slightly used, but looks brand new and came with uv filter and lens pouch. Works as advertized with my Nikon D3100. Best versital lens at half the price of a Nikon.
DWayne –
A well built, economical, travel lens. Not the fastest lens but plenty sharp when stepped down. No drastic barrel distortion. A bit of CA when the sun is in the frame, but no more than Ive seen in lenses costing 3Xs as much.
darshana001 –
It produces amazing pictures compared to its price.feeling great in hands.overall nice product for users in between bigginer and professional.cheap but highly recommended.it produces nice and beautiful pictures for me.only negative side is the highest Aperture value is not adequate at times.but you cant expect much more from this price.because it gives a maximum satisfaction for its price…
idmtdan –
I had wanted a Nikon 18200 lens for a few years but the cost was prohibitive. I had a Tamron 18270 that I have loved, and found a used 18200 on line for a very reasonable price and bought it from a seller in Japan. I couldnt ask for a better walk round lens I have a friend who has the Nikon 18200 and I have compared them and I am a weekend shutterbug, by no means a pro and cannot see any difference at all. In fact, the Tamron seems to be clearer on the edges and sharper overall. For the money and a walk about lens, this is a deal If you break a 300 lens, so be it….a 700 lens, another story, so as far as I am concerned….money well spent
david5563 –
This lens is one of the best I have ever owed. Images are sharp. The lens focus very quick the only fault I can mention if I want to be picky is the the focus ring is to small , but I was used to sigma lens but after using this , I will certainly buy more Tamron lens.
cwmiramarfl –
The top British photo magazine, What Digital Camera rated this lens as the best all around lens on the market in their last 100 Best Products issue, the Nikon D70 was 1 of 5 DSLRs in the 100 products, ahead of the Canon 20D. I mention this because my brother, a wedding photographer, sent me some of the sharpest, color rich, detailed, pictures Ive seen from any camera, except my own Nikon D701870mm. He owns a Canon 20D with the Tamron 18200mm XR Di II lens. This is the only lens he uses for his weddings. I was so impressed, I purchased the Tamron 18200m for my D70. My Tamron pictures are just as good as my Nikon pictures. Since Nikons 18200mm VR 800.00, buy now low on ebay, is out of my income bracket, the Tamron, 400.00 is a no brainer. My brother and I put our great Canon and Nikon lens back in their respective boxes. Youll probably see them on ebay someday. I have not seen any pictures or reviews on the Sigma 18200mm lens which is another alternative, but I can certainly vouch for the Tamron. Now when I go on vacation, I carry one compact lens instead of three. I totally agree with WDC magazine, the Tamron 18200mm Di II IS the second best all around lens on the market. Considering price, performance, quality, and convenience, its the only one to buy, well, at least until you can raise the funds for the top dog, Nikons 18200mm VR.
bdb4038 –
I like the range and size of the lens a lot. I shoot mostly with the camera in manual exposure mode but when I do put it in automatic my Sony A57 automatically turns on Macro, not sure why yet but that is my only real complaint.
ejpoon –
I do not understand why this lens has been so poorly rated. Think about how light your travelling weight is Sure it has abit of this and that, that is not so good. If you take a picture where there is light, pic quality and resolution is great I have not seen a shot that would make me wanna throw this lens away. If you use the flash, its perfect The magnification ratio is best in its class. I later got a nikon VR lens. Honestly, I have not taken such bad shots with people. there seems to be some form of distortion in it. Yes, it claims that it can have a sharp pic at 4 stops lower. What is 4 stops How much does it mean to a great 80 of the photographers out there Why are all the prime lens more expensive while the number of lenselements is lower Demand low resulting in high production cost Maybe Anyway, its a great lens at a very good price. Sure, owning a branded stuff feels good but is it worth it I feel stupid buying the nikon vr lens of the same spec. Paid for the same quality at more than double the price. sigh…
techbeaver –
These lenses produce sharp images, but the distortion at 18mm is quite signifcant. Autofocus is slow, but if you are not shooting super fast subjects, you can live with it. Overall, very good value for the price.
nwan9202 –
I love this lens i have been using it with my Nikon D7100 without any issues and i have the best picture quality. for a lens that i only bought for 150 box i think i could not have asked for anything better. Thanks for this lens with my Jonkon 5200 and my D7100 i am complete in the world of photography.
Claire –
Pros This has revolutionised my photography and has proved the ideal lens for capturing my summer activities. Highly recommended for anyone looking to expand their camera bag from the basic twin lens kit that most people start with.Cons It zooms the opposite way to my Canon lens which has taken some getting used to
propoo –
Env developmentThis is all in one lense that I decided to purchase for my New Nikon d90 body. I used this for my Trip to Smokey Moutains and Blue Ridge Parkway and I was surely not disppointed. I was really handy and useful to capture mountains additionally I can take potraits also . i do not like to carry 10 different lenses with me, I was looking fo all rounder lens and this was perfect. From price point of view also, I received 80 rebate from Tamron which was nice. I was skeptical to buy tamron lenses but I never heard of before since I am not from photography field but then I read reviews online which helped alot and discovered that Tamron lenses are always rated good. shot the Moutains in all sorts of light and color variations, Fog and sunshine, sunrise, sunset, night lighting, using the vibration control almost continually, except when it was desireable to use the Manual Focus. There were no problems at all in image quality once I was back in the hotel room evaluating the shots. So far I am happy with my purchase and would certainly recommed.Env development
KEVIN –
For years my favorite lens has been a Tamron 70300 zoom because I can use it for macro shots and to pull peoples faces in when they dont know it. When I needed a wideangle lens, Id have to change or backup way up. With the Tamron 18200, I get the best of both worlds. Its compact and it allows greater flexibility and I dont have to worry about switching lenses and risking missing the shot.
vicktoriah –
This lens is lightweight. The picture quality is excellent. It is saves time in having to change lenses for those longer shots without giving away any quality. We originally purchased one but after using the lens we purchased another for our second camera.
shaunarmani76 –
For the price of the lens, this is a great piece of kit. Managed to do away with 2 other lenses with this. Great in situations where versatility is the key. Love it.
bubsi1271 –
Ok bought this lens as after a trip to sea world, constantly having to swap lenses and miss action, I decided to buy a combined primezoom lense. Price was a major consideration, I looked at Sigma and Nikkors, the Nikkor was binned on cost grounds, I simply couldnt justify it, the Sigma was worse quality than the Tamron so I went with the Tamron. I do like the lense , it works really well, I find it slightly slower to autofocus when zoomed in compared with my nikkors, my two real niggles and they are fairly minor as I havent taken then lense off the camera since it arrivedare 1 using cokin square filter system, if the filter isnt level then it shows in your image, especially if you use a screw in filter as well, and two I miss the AFMF setting thats on nikkors lenses, other than that a great bit of kit at a decent price
Tom –
The Tamron 18200 for my Canon 10D is excellent. I have had the lens for about 3 weeks and have taken several hundred pictures, mostly indoors without a flash. I had good general lighting and use 800 to 1600 ISO. I would recommend this for any one that wants a versatile zoom at a great price and a 6 year warranty.
drpeternazaroff –
TO BUY ANY HIGH END PHOTO PRODUCT NEW IS LESS THEN DESIRED FOR A PERSON ON A FIXED OR RETIRED INCOME. MOST PEOPLE TREAT THEIR GOOD EQUIPMENT WITH CARE. I WOULD NEVER BUY NEW AGAIN.PERIOD I HAVE BOUGHT 8 TAMRON SIGMA ZOOM LENSES PLUS BODIES WITH NO PROBLEM. ALL THE VENDERS HAVE BEEN HONEST GAVE GREAT VALUE
super8andmore –
I like this lens a lot, great walk around lens because its light, compact and it can be used for just about anything, from urban, landscape, portrait to zooming in, it does it all. Very underrated lens and the price is right
mikw04 –
Good pricequality ratio. Ok auto focus. Bit noisy though. Quality of picture is pretty good for a zoom lense.
edbink2 –
Really a great lens for the money. It sometimes seems to hunt for a focus, maybe an autofocus issue which causes an occosional bad shot when taking quick pictures but usually very good. Im just an amature, but really like this. For what I use it for its the most versital and light weight lens Ive found.
lutepicker –
Great zoom range and reasonably light, sharp and good contrast one of the nicest lenses I have owned. Downside bad zoom creep when pointed up or down at extreme angles needed to be locked or held. Only really a major problem when used with a slow shutter speed on a pod. Hand held it isnt a problem. The sharpness, contrast and range, keeps it on my camera 90 of the time.
justintcase –
This is an excellent all in one lens for the semiserious photographer. Very functional and high quality. I hardly need to use any other lenses. This was just the item I needed for traveling light and yet prepared for anything. Works great with my Canon Rebel XTi. Love it.
mont7706 –
This is a good lens. With this lens you can shoot short planes as good as long distance planes. Because of its focal distance this lens is appropriate to photograph sports, music concerts, theater performances, etc.
graceyjoy –
I was originally looking for 18 to 250 lens. As we are in the middle of moving and prepping to go on an European trip I was a bit distracted as I ordered this item. Wish it was the 250 instead of 200 but it has been taking excellent photos. Just am concerned that I will miss that extra bit of zoom power when aiming at the castles on the Danube It responds very well to my Canon EOS 7D.

Excellent walkabout lens, a bit soft wide open at higher focal lengths unless stopped down. In some circumstance can suffer from light flare but again can be easily overcome if stopped down a bit or by the use of a circ polarising filter. Had no problems on my Pentax K200D bodies. Optically almost as good as the Pentax 28200 but has the added advantage of 18mm wide angle. below 80100 excellent value for money

As a dad primarily interested in documenting family events and capturing great candids of my kids, I dont see the need for another lens. If all things were equal, Id love to have Nikons VR, but Im not sure its worth since its almost twice as expensive. Also, when I shoot at higher focal lengths, Im generally outside during the day, so shutter speed is not typically an issue for me.Aside from the missing VR, my only other complaint is that when you carry the camera around with this lens on it, unless you have the lens locked, it extends by itself. Its kind of annoying but not a deal breaker.

I do not personally own this lens YETHowever, my dayjob is working for a newborn photography company that does inhospital portrait sessions, and this is the lens they use. Ive grown to really love this lens. Its not very lightweight, however it feels very sturdy and wellmade. Its very sharp, Ive had no problem focusing it, which is great where I work because you have to be quick sometimes. We usually have lights out to use all ambient light in the hospital rooms, so you can guess that its pretty dark for the camera. I can have my bedroom just as dark as we have the hospital rooms, and my Nikkor kit lens takes a long time trying to focus and usually has a hard time. This lens has no problem at all focusing in the amount of light provided.I love this lens I am looking forward to purchasing this for my freelance photography in the near future, and HIGHLY recommend this lens for anyone looking for an AllPurpose lens in an unbeatable price range.
VERNON –
The 18200 zoom range make this a great general use lens. I have used this lens for a local First Friday events as well as the Grand Prix of Baltimore. I have taken some great photos with this lens.My only issue with this lens is with the loose zoom mechanism. When carrying your camera face down, the lens will extend to the longest position. There is a lock to prevent this. Remember to use this if you are not using the lens for a while.
yf12a –
I gave it 5 stars for value because I got it for less than 50. It was one of those as is for parts deals. It wouldnt meter or focus but for me it was an easy fix. It really isnt that bad of a walk around lens and the images come out pretty sharp at f8. Compared to my other lenses, it has a tendency to record higher contrast images especially at the long end. I use it on a D300s, so programming a default exposure setting to compensate for the high contrast wasnt a big deal. It also has typical distortion for this focal range especially at wide angle, but nothing that Photoshop cant fix. Two switches at your finger tips are an autofocusmanual focus switch and a zoom barrel lock, which is good because the lens barrel will creep. Overall physical quality is pretty good for a plastic lens, everything feels nice and tight. With a clear filter and lens shade, its not super light, it has some heft to it. I dislike not having an aperture ring, but thats just me. I use it for everyday casual shots, road trips, vacations, etc.leaving the very special shots for my prime lenses.
ervica2015 –
Im rating this lens just 3 stars. You dont expect so much for the money that you spend. I would recommend this lens only to be used with a tripod with a high shutterspeed and of course in a daylight. Price quality
WILLIAM –
I love this lens. My walk around lens is a 35mm, but when Im on any type of trip I use this lens exclusively. I like the fact that it covers the wide range of 55mm200mm and I dont have to carry or change lenses. Great for portrait and landscape shots and focuses quickly. Ive been getting great Bokeh on all of my wide aperture shots with a nice focus range. I was shopping for a while and finally decided on this lens and Im greatful I did
Robert –
Pros Great value combines affordability with more than satisfactory image quality, build, ease of use and convenience comes with easy to install lens hood lock to prevent lens creep. I have not compared it to similar more expensive 18250 and 18270 lenses, but this lens gives me what I want and the low price helps fund another lens or other equipment.Cons Lens did not come with a cover. I bought one for less than a pound in fact, bought an heir and a spare for that price, and wonder why Tamron did not include one with the lens.
giddo1947 –
Recently purchased a Nikon DSLR 2 lens kit. A big WOW for the difference in picture quality from the standard supplied lens, and the Tamron. High quality product, sharp images and easy controls.
pras1na –
For the price I paid for it, the lens is all I could ask for. Light portable and has as range that covers portraits to landscapes and everything else in between. Is ok for people with low budget and not much demands on the lens, takes good pictures. However, If you can save a couple of hundred dollars more in next few months and are not in a rush to buy a lens save yo money and look for something else. Again, you get what you pay for..
niwde973 –
Ship quickly, well packaged, lens in great shape Good price
kpizzle220 –
Could not pass this lens up for the price. Great lens to walk through the city and snap away. Range on the lens is great. Tamron has given this lens a solid feel. And the pictures are great to boot If you find one of these at a great price , do not pass it up, you wont be sorry.
Old Dog –
I purchased this lens for those occasions when I didnt want to carry my bag of lenses and knowing the range will be wide angle to long focal length. The lens have a nice feel and not too heavy for its size. It does have a zoom lock nicely positioned for the right index finger which comes in handy while carrying around.Nice plastic hood, goes on and off easily, plastic can be your friend when you bump the lens hood, plastic givesmetal hoods dont give, ouch. Now about Performance, it does perform well with good light or outdoors with good lighting. But having a range from 18200mm there is a sacrifice if the lighting is not that good. In low light the focus is slow or sometimes cant focus at all, image quality suffers as well, but using a flash is ok. The lens is surprisingly good at close up, I have gotten some very good close up shots with this lens.I recommend this lens for the casual photographer who doesnt like changing lenses and just want some decent images without a lot of fuss. For the price of this lens with rebate you cant go wrong giving it a try. It can not replace my bag of Takumars but it does have a home in my bag.
knightjex1 –
Excellent lens. Arrived in a timely manner. I was able to take stunning pictures of the Commencement ceremonies i attended. I now use only one lens for all my needs. Excellent quality at an economical price
mickad1957 –
This is a great value lens. For those that do not want to keep swapping over lenses in the open and risk dust getting on to the sensor, this lens is an ideal replacement to your kit lens and zoom which most people buy together when they start out, I know that is what I did it goes from a wide angle to quite an adequate zoom. This allows you to travel lighter, and other than extreme distance, you always have the correct lens fitted so as not to lose an opportunity for the shot. So glad I made this decision.
blueleezard –
Camera used new Pentax K3. OBSERVED POSITIVES AF and autoexposure are fast and accurate at all focal lengths. AF is quiet and does not hunt. MF is quick and easy to use. Very minor CA and flare evident at 18mm not unusual. Overall good to excellent resolution at all focal lengths. Colours are rich, very realistic. Lens seems wellbuilt, solid, durable, does not feel cheap in any way. Simplicity, robustness, weight, and easeofuse are ideal for an allpurpose, walkaround lens. OBSERVED NEGATIVE lens is not weatherresistant. After a few months of daily outdoor use, some visible dust internal to lens is now seen. This is not major, but can affect preedited images especially when shooting directly into point source light. SUMMARY very good value AF lens, good zoom range, excellent K3 compatibility. Very good usability, portability, construction toughness, overall sharpness, ease of use. Closer macro would be nice. Internal dust over the longterm may turn out to be a problem unknown. Overall, this is a very useful lens of high quality, but do not expect perfection.
deepblues44 –
I carry this lens with my large telephoto lens, when out in the field. Its a great lens for general use. Well worth the money.
James –
Pros To be able to take close ups and longer range photos without switching lense was really convenient. My album from a recent safari trip so balanced as a result.Cons The auto focus is not a quick as a Canon and sometimes it really struggles, for example lower light and sometimes with target selection.
y4mp1 –
Good all rounder lens for the everyday user. Excellent value too. Comes with a lens hood. Little noisier AF motor. Very good picture quality for the size it comes in. Focal lengths cover the needs of most enthusiasts..
spike2462 –
Bought before departing for a trip to Europe. This lens worked like magic with my Nikon D3200. Great lens at a great price. Thanks guys. This lens took great close ups as well as some long distance shots. Great all around lens.
RICHARD –
This is a nice lens, but I would recommend spending a few extra dollars and go for the 18mm270mm Tamron lens. You get a longer zoom range, a quieter focus motor and image stability so worth the extra dollars. Generally, this lens served me very well and is a good all purpose lense to have on your camera. There were a couple of situations when I was glad I had it attached to my camera and caught some very nice photos I might have lost with a prime or wide angle lens. Easy to pack also.
Michael –
Autofocus will work at low focal length but Manual focus is required for 70mm to 200mm. Very disappointed. I dont have this issue with other Tamron zoom lenses I have.
bj1306 –
Product quality is very happy. The pictures are excellent. As is the case when we can say a Quality product for a little money. The speed of delivery is very convenient.
ugusgal –
An avid photographer, Id worn out my Nikon 18mm200mm lens. I wasnt familiar with The Tamron name, but the reviews were all very positive. The fact that it was lighter than my other lens was a plus. The price seemed almost too good to be true, but the lens has already proven to take sharp, beautiful shots. Im super pleased And the fact that its lighter IS wonderful, indeed. This will be carried used for many, many miles adventures. My filters fit perfectly, so theres no need to replace those. If you love the joy of using an SLR, this will not be a disappointment to you
BTF –
Looked for one lense to replace two lenses I previously used. Lense is a bit heavy but not bad. Autofocus as noted in some of the reviews is a bit slow but not objectionable.
woodshed74 –
This lens is razor sharp and the wide range of zoom is awesome It is the first Tamron lens that Ive bought for my Pentax, and I am very impressed so far. I had been looking at 18250mm zoom lenses, but they were so much more expensive than the 18200mm ones that I decided to go 18200. This lens is going to get a LOT of use
swordphish –
I bought this after seeing a good deal on eBay and I had to grab it. And I gotta say, its a really great lens. Its a HUGE upgrade over the kit lens in terms of sharpness, build quality and flexibility. Very robust and well built and feels nice and solid on the camera. The autofocus is lightning fast compared to the kit lens and the 18mm lock helps prevent zoom creep. VR would be nice but youre probably not buying this lens for low light usage anyway. Cant recommend this lens enough for an amateur photographer.
rus.mukhamedov –
Pros Quite sharp at wide angle and at maximum zoom. Does not slide out when directed to the ground. AF works fine. MF is easy to use. Lightweight. Best solution as everyday multipurpose lens for the price. Cons Plastic is cheap. Rather dark. Try to find better for the same price.
gts4bs –
This is a normal not expensive lens of entrylevel. This lens has set to Nikon camera without any problem. The photo quality does not compare with the expensive lenses, but for this money it is a good option.
mschwartz19 –
All in one lens that goes from wide angle to telephoto Produces clear and sharp images. Size is relatively small for this type of all in one zoom lens. Excellent price compared to the equivalent Nikon lens which costs at least three times more.
PETER –
Excellent lens I used for close up pictures of flowers.Lens is easy to handle. Has great depth of field.I recommend.
ilorat0pyt –
I was concerned, I had the same lens and it quickly developed a Comm error. I have made one photo trip so far and had no issues.
Staziaw –
Right after receiving this Tamron 18200 mm lens, I went to the northwestern part of Arizona for a long weekend. Every photo I took was crisp and clean. The first photo is of an old tombstone, showing the landscape. Everything is clean. The second photo is of the same tombstone, but a closeup of the crumbling letters. Again, everything looks groovy.I am thrilled to have one multipurpose lens in lieu of constantly switching between an 1855 and 55200.I am thrilled And the delivery was SUPER fast
hasanmcz –
This lens me quite by surprise. Indeed for the average user this is what may be the most ideal. I dream I am satisfied and I only use this one, especially on trips when you need to shoot both closeup and at a distance and do not have to keep changing lens.
csch95143 –
I have recently purchased this lens ,and tried it out a few times. I find the results quite good ,with crisp photos ,both close up and further away . It is a good lens for portrait . The only setback which is only a minor issue ,is the lens creep. This is not the only lens that has this issue ,so I would still class it as a great lens in its class. I would certainly recommend this lens. Charlie
soniad2009 –
The is a great allinone lens for every day photos. With a range of 28 to 300mm and the VC vibration compensation technology, all shots are sure shots. I use to carry an 1855 and a 70300 around. Now this lens will replace both and stay all the time on our Nikon D80.
Jeffrey –
I bought this lens because I was going on vacation and wanted a good walkabout lens. I got what I wanted and Im happy. All of the complaints I have could be solved by just buying a more expensive lens. For the price this lens exceeded my expectations. Just dont get your hopes up about low light situations. If you have a good flash and a sensitive camera then you should be alright I have a Canon Rebel XS. However, with my camera it really struggles in low light. This is the first lens Ive bought for my camera after the kit lenses and Im happy.
happyhanna11 –
I received my lens a head of schedule and have been using it for the last three days. I am more then happy with my new lens and must say I would recommend buying from this seller. Excellent customer service and prompt delivery of items. I also recommend using this lens it was well worth the money I paid for it.

The Tamron 18200 mm AF Lens is a wonderful all purpose lens that provides sharp images and the convenience of using my Nikon D5100 DSLR without having to worry about changing lenses. Tamron is known for its high quality optics and this lens provides sharp images at all focal lengths. It is truly a good value.
K Cave –
Wow Back to one lens that does almost everytning I need. Important due to weight restrictions that the airlines have implemented over the years.A little slow in poor light, but that can be overcome if you know how to use your camera.
mql –
I bought this lens to use as an all purpose lens. The zoom range gives you wide angle to telephoto all in one lens. I mainly shoot cars and people, often at events, so I need a lens that can go wide enough to shoot an entire car at close range or a large group of people, as well as pull in a car or person at a distance. I had bought the Tamron 28300 zoom first, but found the 28 mm focal length at the APSC format isnt wide enough for group and whole car shots. This lens works well for that. I also like that its relatively small and lightweight, so its easy to travel with. I have no complaints about the optics or clarity of the photos. The downside Tamrons autofocus motor. Its noisier and coarser than a Canon, which can be a bit awkward in quiet situations like a wedding. It also tends to hunt for focus more than a Canon lens does. My Tamron 28300 is the same way. But for the price, its a good value for a widerange lens.
sqdcaller –
I got the lens for my wife. Its a good starter lens. The pictures taken with it have been crisp clear. She is using it on a Pentax K50.
dickm –
Seems excellent as a do it all lens for much less than the cost of the Pentax version. Also have a 20300 Tamron on another Pentax and that seems excellent too. Will be interesting to see how durable it is.
Geoff –
Pros Image quality seems really good. Under normal light auto focus seems ok.Cons Seems to struggle with autofocus in slightly below normal lit rooms, but to be honest most of the lenses Ive used do.
trajan11 –
The lens I ordered was supposed to be for a Nikon Camera. The one I received was for a Pentax. I reported it and sent it back. The next lens came quickly but it was also for a Pentax. I had ordered this lens to use at a business meeting I attended. I was very disappointed that I did not get the product that was advertised. When I checked the link on my original order it states for a Nikon but talking to the service rep the records on the other end show Pentax. Then she said her supervisor said sometimes they change in the middle. Not a good practice. This has also been a major inconvenience returning the lenses that I received in error.

They sending me the wrong product Ps help me get the right product Its AF18200mm not AF1855mm
Boogaloo –
4stars for versatility. Im glad I bought this lens when the horror of Canons insulting EOS kit lens hit home. I have not been able to bring myself to sell it as Ive upgraded into better glass. It really does make for a useful, versatile funnfamily photo lens when all one wants are snapshots. This lens is a well built Honda without the styleprice of a Lexus. Jack of All Trades Master of None. A GREAT pick for someone new to DSLR.Pros A good and affordable first lens to replace the kit lens. It makes good shapshots while it trains one in camera functions. Its best work is at the wide end and will help a newcomer decide on later upgrades. You may decide its all you need. Keep it for its versatile range when you do not want to risk your Lexus units or sell it to fund upgrades.Cons Its not a lightbucket. The aperture range demands good light, especially indoors. Handheld shots past 50mm will be challenging with images getting progressively softer with increasing focal length, to include tripod shots. Its not much for stopaction. Thats why I call this a snapshot lens crops and enlargements will demonstrate it as strictly consumer. If you think you will be real picky about sharpness and lighting right out of the box, this lens may not be for you. HintsTamron 1750mm f2.8 fixedSigma 1770mm f2.84.5or Canon equivalents eeek

Good lense for amatuer use, but I would not recommend it for professional use. Not as sharp as Nikon lenses and I am dissappointed with the distortion as compared to same focal length lenses manufactured by Nikon. Only nonNikon lense I have purchased and I regret not spending more and getting the Nikon lense. The lense creep is also frustrating
new to photo –
So far so good. This is an upgrade to my kit lens with the Nikon D3100. I wanted something with a little more reach and still be able to carry it around easily. It is a little blurry sometimes when it is zoomed out to the extents, but that is expected without a tripod.
Martha T –
When I shoot outdoor with no flash this lens is great. very convenient to go from wide angle to tlephoto. Ive been changing lens for the extremes and this is so much easier. When doing flash with some depth of field this works.I dont have to shoot at Ap priority to get the depth I need..I still use my 80200 2.8 for no flash at concerts and stage lit events. But other than that this lens has been on my camera all the time.Very happy with the quality of the images…
taurinya13 –
Probably the single most useful lens to put on any camera. The 18 to 200mm focal length digital lens equates to aproximately 28mm400mm on a film SLR. Good for wide angle and medium closeup work. Tamron produce a cheap but not tacky lens. it has excelent autofocus and more than adequate aperture rating for 90 of all photographes any amateur or semiproffesional could wish for. By buying secondhand I saved 25 on a new lens. This lens lives on my camera at all times.
sawdust72947 –
I liked the fact that I now have 1 lens that covers the zoom range of 3 of my previous canon lenses. I have owned a Tamron lens for my wifes 35mm camera and the quality was really pretty good. The truth will be seen when I print one of the photos I take with my Digital Canon camera to 16 x 20. I hope that the lens holds up to that test like the Canon lenses do…..
aligirl501 –
I am a novice photographer and have not the money nor the time to research and purchase multiple lenses. This lens really is an all in one outdoor lens. I love the zoom feature and have found that it can capture with great clarity things at a long distance. It is durable, easy to attach to the camera base, fairly lightweight and versatile. While it is an expensive lens it is cheaper than its Nikon and Canon comparables and was rated better than both brands by photography gurus that know more than me. I have been very happy with this lens except have found that its aperature is not wide enough for good low light indoor pictures. It does fine if there is enough light or if you are using a flash, but if you prefer natural lighting and are looking to take most of your pictures in an indoor setting I would suggest going with a lens that provides for larger aperatures a 50mm or a 35mm to be exact But, if you love landscape photography or have busy kids that love to be outside than this lens will fill most of your needs and will be worth the money.
MATTHEW –
Ive only had this lens for a week. I was in a small mountain town that was having a festival and needed a little more reach than my kit lens and more versitility than my prime lenses. I paid a bit more than I should have but was in a pinch for time about 2 hours til I needed it so I bought it from the local store that obviously took advantage of this. I was able to get the shots I wanted relatively easily even though most of what I was shooting was moving rather quickly. Focus seemed a little slow but was satisfactory. Im just starting photography but was thrilled at the quality of pictures I took througout the range. This will probably be my walking around lens. I couldnt be happier with my purchase even though I was a victum of higway robbery.
Takazky –
I bought this lens to use with my Canon Rebel XT, about a year and a half ago, and used it extensively around home with marvelous results, then took it on a 2week mission trip to Africa in Sept 09, and to New Zealand in Jan 2010… It performed perfectly until about the last two days of my NZ trip, when it started giving me Error 99 codes.. The only way to clear it is to shut the camera off for a few seconds, usually losing the picture. This began to happen more and more frequently until I finally couldnt use the lens at all. Last week, I took it into a reputable digital camera repair expert, who said he was seeing this more and more often with the nonproprietary lenses…He suggested regularly cleaning the contacts on both lens and camera, which he did, and said that using new memory cards sometimes will help, but that sometimes there isnt much you can do. I have to say that I took probably close to 10,000 pictures with this lens before it began acting up on me, and the pictures were beautiful excellent optics, clarity and versatility. It seems the problem is in the camera lens interface. The repairman didnt know of a software or firmware fix, but maybe Tamron will be able to come up with something in the future. In the meantime, Im switching to a Canon lens. My Tamron 70 300 is also starting to give the same error code at the upper ranges of the zoom, so Im definitely switching.
cornishawn –
This is one of the Best Lenses I have ever Purchased It is a perfect Lens for all purpose uses, wether its Nature, Portrait, Street, and just walk around photography. Its has a fast, Smooth focus, and Takes Very Clear, Beautiful Pictures. Its an F3.56.3 Aperture, but that is not an issue for me, compared to the F2.8 lenses. It does a fantastic job I Love this Lens
Fransisca –
This lens is a compromise. As a compromise, it behaves well. The image quality is not to par with other offeringsnor should it be expected as such. It is well adequate, and that is precisely why I bought it. The focal range is appropriate for my general needs. It stays on my camera because I never know what or when I will take pictures on the fly. In more specific situations I will likely choose a more specialized tool. I dont want to come across as critical. In context of what it is, it is really quite good.
racerlee –
When I got my Tamron 18200mm I put away all my other lenses and only use my new Tamron. I can travel with it and my Tamron 70300mm and cover most situations. All I need now is a Tamron 50 or 85 F1.8 and Im set. Love these lenses.
Jenny –
Pros I love that the lens zooms in so much closer than the 1855 Canon lens. Its compact enough to fit into my holster bag so is easy to carry round.Cons Sometimes has difficulty deciding on focus by hunting but when Im happy with the focus, I switch to manual and all is well.
Shimajin –
Problems focusing when getting close shots. Adjustment is easy so just getting used to. My Nikkor lenses focuses better. Is this drawback of getting 3rd party lenses
James –
Very happy so far, very good for the price, if it continues to be a good phone Ill be buying one of their flagship phones, Xiaomi look like a good well priced brand I could stick with
ROBERT –
Bought this for the short end of the zoom, and the close focus ability across the entire range. Hunts a bit in low light, but so do my Pentax lenses. This will be the lens that spends a lot of time mounted. Sharpness is quite satisfactory for my purposes. Good value at the price paid.
123kirdon –
Bought the lens to replace 1855 that came with the camera. Impressed with the picture quality even without the VR. Very good value for money as an all rounder lens for general use
jamie19410 –
Its a good allin one lens, and good value.lt looks well made, with a metal lens mount, and focuses fine. Unfortunately,I was a bit hasty, and bought the earlier version, without vibration reduction VR,which is important at the longer end of the zoom,so I may have to sell it,in order to get the later version It goes well with my Nikon D80,and D3100 camera bodies, and is certainly lighter than the two kit lenses it replaces,so still a good buy.
davidp5255 –
Have not used the lens extensively to date so far no regrets. Bought as a demo but like new. Seems heavy but on the plus side you are not changing lenses all the time. I knew all the pros and cons before I purchased it. Excellent price to value ratio.
JAMES –
Decent allaround usefull lens at a reasonable price. Spans wideangle to telephoto in a fairly compact size. Smooth zoom but noisy, slow AF and fairly dim maximum aperture. Got this lens for my old canon XS. My kids are now interested in taking pictures so this is what they will be using. Good starter lens.
RALPH –
I got tired of switching lenses, plus with a 35mm equivalent of 28300mm, this Tamron is perfect for shooting architecture and landscape.Additionally, this lens adds almost a pound, and unlike most photographers, I like a heavy camera, as opposed to what I call, a mini DSLR, small and light weight.
tolrahx –
Enjoyed using this product as it has an excellent wide angle which is great for shooting both interior and landscape photos. It may be a bit slow in low light due to the aperture size, but if you have a tripod and hold still, you get great photos.
pk –
This lens is not much larger than the 1855 mm lens that came with the camera. It does so much more and allows me closer macro photos the bulk of which has yet to be taken of flowers and various blossoms.Since I shoot against a selfrigged black backdrop, i have to keep worrying about the lens lowlight response
DIANNE –
I own the tamron lens 18200 for my Nikon cameras. I also have a tamron 70250 Since I got it I rarely use any other lens. This lens is great It is great for regular shooting or close ups and you dont have to stop to change the lens. My husband I own a DJ business, and I take pictures of all of our events for the customer and make DVDs for them. Mostly weddings. This lens is great when something happens at another part of the room and you need to quickly zoom in to take the picture. It focus fast and accurate. I have no regrets on the purchase. It saves me time of changing the lens to another for closeups, which by that time what is happening I would normally have to miss. I would recommend this to anyone, whether a pro or if you do photography as a hobby.
beemer01paddler –
This is now my all around lens. If I can only take one lens on a trip, this one gets the nod. Reasonably fast and pretty sharp. Not quite as good as the Canon stuff but Im an amateur not a professional.
dindincosta –
looks beautiful to me. my first camera. teacher recommended this lens. i noticed some distortion when taking a pic and read that if you use canon lens this will not happen. but for me to learn and use in school, its all good for 13 of a canon price.
JZaring.com –
I got this lens with the intention of getting distance shots of birds, squirrels etc. not good or even useable from 1840 and 100200mm. The images exhibit extreme blur, even on a tripod, color distortion, false contrast and an odd haze possibly due to inferior glass. Even my 1855 kit lens outperforms this lens. Yes its cheap, but for two hundred, you be much happier with a 35mm or 50mm prime. That or save up for something with better quality like a nikkor 70300 vr. This was my first and last Tamron lense. Lesson learned.
abp1402 –
We bought this lense to replace our Sony 1875mm and it does the job.The downfall is that it is very noisy when focusing and it drains the cameras battery life. I would recommend taking an extra battery with you if you are planning to take lots of pictures in one day. This lense is good enough to take kids pictures which is why I bought it. Its an amateur lense.
225.odyer –
For a casual photographer this was the best. It worked with all aspects of my Nik D300. One could buy a lens that more expensive with more features, but why if you are not shooting for professional reasons.
GILBERT –
Bought one for myself and loved it from the first pic l took. Liked it so much, bought another one for the Wife. Really a joy to see how much fun she had when she first used it. Now we compete on who takes a better picture. Highly recomend this lens to all my friends.
szirthu –
It was sold as a Parts only item but actually I had no repairing to do, it is fully functional besides a small fracture in the plastic. I love it
lewis621 –
With my Nikon D5300, it provides excellent pictures, quick auto focus for both still and action shots. The versatility with 18200mm capability allows you to carry less lenses or at least not having to change lenses for different applications. It works very well with taking videos also
mybottomhurts –
It has a built in motor so it can be used on most digital nikons, with or without a motor built into the camera. Picture quality is 95. Just a bit less than the equivalent Nikon lens. It is light and its 18200 range is just great for an all in one lens. Its highly recommend if like me you dont have deep pockets to be able to afford the Nikon lens at twice the price. I shot a friends wedding with this lens with great results. Just not too great in low light. Auto focus hunts a bit But on bright daylight its fast…good buy.

the bad is that this unit was not function well in dark area, sometimes it keep focus back and forth and cause the camera not able operated. may be just this one has problem, who know. I purchard this unit in used condition with ebey

I would presume that the Tamron would be an excellent lens. I own a Quantaray that takes fabulous pictures on a Sony A65. The Tamron was purchased used and it will not focus sharply at any setting so Im having to send it out for repairs. It may have been dropped or something. I would not let my experience stop you from buying a NEW Tamron lens. I did quite a bit of research prior to buying this lens and had decided that the Tamron was a good buy…unfortunately buying used puts you into another risk category.

Very useful zoom range. I would even sacrifice the zoom end more to get even wider angle… my perfect range would be 24 to 200 in 35mm equivalent, not available in current offerings

Pictures arent sharp and clear. I really regret this purchase. The first lens I sent back because it wouldnt focus. Overstock is great in that area. Customer service is awesome, better than , by far. But as the lens goes, it isnt sharp, focus is slow. I wouldnt buy this again. Even thinking of selling mine, and getting a Canon lens.

This is my primary lens now. 18200mm covers more then the range for what I need. Shooting a waterfall on Rainier then 10 minutes later shooting the entire mountain without changing lenses is perfect. The odd lens opening 62mm, took a little time to find filters that would fit. Mission accomplished.

I bought this lens because I was tired of changing lenses. I looked into the Nikon brand lens and I was shocked the lens cost more what my camera, camera kit and two lenses cost. I loved this lens. It focus very fast and zoom in and zoom out with no problem. Just be careful when using at wide angle because it may cause vignetting. Also, if you are going to use a filter, use a very slim one. I used a thicker UV filter and it caused vignetting.

My stuck 1855 lens was ok, this lens was suggested to me by a friend. Its a good value but it essentially is the 1855 lens but with zoom potential. My slight diss appointment is really my fault in not knowing enough about lenses. I really wanted more of a wide angle lens and as I noted, this is not.its the same 18mm as my factory lens. With that being said, it is a good alternative to the stick 1855 because you have a zoom feature and the lens telescopes down to a compact size when using the 18mm.

Its a good lens for what it cost, 18200mm decent price range, i got it for replace kit lens, and honestly i need the IS function, its a good lens, but i need to work on my pulse. Be aware of this before buy it, if your not too good with your pulse and manual focus, with this lens you will learn. also zoom barrel its kinda hard. overall quality of lens its remmarcable.

Have shot 6,000 images with this lens over the last year and a half. My overall favorite lens. 16×20 prints from Adorama lab look crisp and gallery quality even when shot at 200mm. Slow focus and small aperature make manual focus best for action and lowlight but otherwise AF works well. Nice color rendition. Telescoping barrel makes for very compact design, a real benefit for everyday shooting. Lens flare can be an issue for backlighting or sunsets, an expected problem for a lens with this zoom range and number of elements. In photojournalism settings, convenience of wide angle to telephoto far outweighs any quality issues but slow focus can be a nulsance. Because of small aperature and long focal length, a monopod is a worthwhile accessory. Its not my only lens but is the one I rely on most for the its an excellent choice.

Im completely blown away with the performance of this lens This is a One Lens Solution. Its going to be perfect for my upandcoming holiday. I wont need to carry several lenses, adding weight to my camera bag. Its not lightweight, but its not too heavy either. The imagequality is as good as it gets at this price or perhaps Ive underestimated this lens. Perhaps its better than that Ive certainly no complaints whatsoever. The macro performance is adequate not true 11 macro, but nothing a macroreversing ring wont fix. Ive seen and read countless reviews, and I can only agree with them all. A brilliant lens at a great price. If youre looking for a One Lens Solution, then dont overlook this lens. And it comes complete with a lens hood. What more could you want 1010 Tamron

I bought this a a replacement for two lenses. It seamed to me a great idea for Weddings. I havent shot a wedding with it yet, but have done a few portrait sessions. I wonder if it will loosen up a little after use. It is very versatile. I hurt my back and cant move as much, so this helps reduce me running around. It has issues focusing with doing large groups and macro. isnt a low light lens, but works well so far with my flash.

Great lens, very useful all rounder. Takes superb pics. Lighter than most comparable lens, easy to use and definitely a must for any budding photographer. Very pleased with this prduct.

Perfect all around lense. Allows you to use one lense for everything and does a relatively good on every thing. For my needs I use it with a Sony a350 and slt55v. If your a professional I am sure you may find some faults with it. I am pleased….

I wanted this sized lens because of the versatility of it, but didnt want to pay an arm and leg. I was going on vacation and didnt want to lug around my big camera bag with several lenses. This one worked perfectly. I was able to take beautiful pictures and create awesome memories. This is not my favorite lens.
grpowerw0 –
I purchased this lens knowing that it has limitations one being no vibration control. It does take sharp photos and all functions are working well.

This is a very good lens for fullframe cameras, works well on subframes that have drivemotors as well…just one caveat with it, its not light. Very sharp and reasonably fast and clear for a superzoom but its a pocket full of change. you can check the specs on slrgear.com this lens is 550g vs 430g for the Tamron 18250 which is the equivalent lens on a Sony with bodyIS And that extra 120 grams is really noticeable on a light camera. It doesnt help much on a heavy camera Seriously adds to the inertia. But the IS is very good, it doesnt vignette much like the T18250 on a subframe…its a good allaround carry. As long as you dont mind carrying it It certainly makes WAY more sense than the Canon 28300 EFL IS at 1670g and 2250 retail.

Ive read a lot of reviews from apparently knowledgeable people who claim that Canon is far superior to Tamron. Maybe so. But for the average Amateur Photographer such as myself and most others, you will not see a noticeable difference between this lens and the Canon 18200. Noisier yes, but the picture quality is very close.

Pros Great travelling lens, can get everything I need with this and a 1020mm wide angle. Feels well balanced when attached to the 20DCons Slight loss of edge sharpness at the wide end. Some barrel distortion at the wide end too.
Netta –
Used it for trip to Alaska with Pentax K7. Lightweight combo for lots of all day sightseeing. Good optics, good price. Nothing compares to prime lens for optics, but it was great compromise for carrying a camera around all day, very versitile 18200 range. Used it for my grandsons baseball game. Got really good action shots too. I would buy it again.

This is great little all in one 18200mm 10x inexpensive and versatile lens for DSLRs. I use a Nikon D5100 and found that I was quite often leaving my DSLR at home since I did not want to carry the bulk of multiple lenses with me. Most of the time I look for interesting compostions or candid shots so it is bother some to stop and switch lenses if I want to go from 50mm to 200mm. The Tamron fills my need to for an all in one lens. In normal lighting conditions it is quick and responsive. Colors are accurate and vibrant while the pictures are sharp. The cons for this lens are that is not very accurate and responsive in low light situations as it does not have any built in stabilization. Vignetting at the corners is quite noticable at times. However, based on how you compose the view that can be overcome through some judicious cropping in in the Statue picture. All in all this lens satisfies my goal of point, aim, and click for taking pictures. For the price point it is a bargain
umppops11 –
I purchased the Tamron lens because I desired more options than my Canon 18mm55mm lens provided. I looked at several lens options including Canon, but for the price the Tamron seemed the better buy. The 18200mm allows me more flexibility in zooming in less accessible objects though so far I dislike what appears to be a picture clarity not seen with my previous Canon lenses which had stabilization control built in. I just think the Tamron lens is not as sharp a picture and for some reason I tend to get alot of focus issues I didnt experience with Canon lenses. Perhaps I should have spent the extra money, but I will for the time being plod along with this lens option.
0135peter –
For a used product, it was immaculate. Although I already had a similar product 18 to 250mm range, it was significantly lighter and therefore more portable with only a slight loss at the telephoto end. Limited results under lockdown conditions indicate that the performance is excellent.
Rodin2000 –
This lens has become my all in one constant lens carry lens as I do not have fiddle changing lenses from 55mm to say 150mm. With the Tamron a quick turn of the lens brings far objects in to close up views.
Tyrone Shulaces –
For the price, you cant beat it. It is super lightweight, has great range, and photos look nice and sharp for general use. It does hunt around for focus on occasion in dim but not unreasonably dark light on vague subjects more than you might expect. But, thats the only real flaw, and Im comparing it to my monster white Canon 35300 zoom.
coolcritters –
Its a fantastic all round lens, with fast focus and sharp images 810 Great for daily outings and photographing kids. 810 I also bought this for the Canon and wouldnt change it for the world Maybe not quite for the professionals but then its hard to find a professional quality lens that would please any professional. Value for money definitely a 1010
neworleansbibliophile –
So far I am just fooling around with it. The pictures seem sharp enough to my eye. The zoom is a little rough but not a deal breaker. Same for the noise the VC system generates. Those issues arent too bad to manage. It will take a little more shooting to decide whether the slow response time is going to be an issue, I could see that it could be a problem for a professional who needs to catch that look between the bride and groom while cutting the cake. For me, I may miss a few family candid shots, but on the opposite side of the spectrum, the long range of the lens allows me to catch other shots that I wouldnt have had a chance at before, Right now, I would say, I definitely got my moneys worth. It will be a great carry around lens. When the slow auto focus starts to get on my nerves, then I may think of upgrading to the Nikon version for 3 times the money. Until I can afford that one, this is a respectable substitute except in the most demanding situations.

I bought this for my Nikon DSLR. Price was good, performance around edges not quite as good as a Nikon lens, but certainly acceptable. Lens has good function and appearance, plus a rebate from Tamron. Im very pleased with the purchase. And I appreciate the courteous treatment I received from Avi Hadef, my sales person.
6jessie –
A brilliant very versatile lens. A great all rounder with macro capability. If you want just one lens to carry with you this has to be it. A chance to get some brilliant shots without having to change lenses. I have various Tamron lenses but the LD A014 18200mm has to be my favourite.
David W. –
I purchased this lens to replace my Quantaray 28200 which it will never be able to do. The Quantaray is more responsive and takes much better low light zoom shots. I do like the 18200 aspect but only in daylight and flash situations and even then it is limited.
MICHAEL –
I bought this lens because I was going on vacation and wanted a good all around lens. I got what I wanted and Im happy. All of the complaints I have could be solved by just buying a more expensive lens. I do however change to manual focus when I need to try for a shot in low light, but I normally stay away from that. I have a T2i and it works wonderfully with this camera. It is much better than I expected for the price. At the longer distances above 150mm, I sometimes increase shutter speed for helping to control distortion from when I might shake.
rber3218 –
This is a quality lens at a fair price. It does not have image stabilization, but that is not something you would expect from a lens in this price range. It does focus quickly, and performs well at maximum telephoto on a tripod. I would highly recommend this lens as a replacement for the kit lens of the Canon Rebel .
Masverde –
Bought this as a more versatile option for travel and was not disappointed. First trip abroad and the lens delivered good quality for the money. I was worried about the speed of the autofocus, but I shouldnt have been as I didnt really have many problems. The only problem I had was trying to get the AF to focus in on a specific area when taking wider landscape shots. Easily remedied by manually focusing instead.Overall, a good value that allows the casual photographer to leave all the other lenses at home while traveling.

I found myself to be constantly switching between my 1885mm and my 70300mm while missing some priceless shots so now I use this lens as my primary one and rarely need to go to 300mm.The all around performance is good especially in the best part of the center lens, the attachment is tighter than an OEM lens but it gives it a sturdier feel. The focal adjustment ring is also a bit tight compare to my original lens, probably to minimize the creep factor which has bee greatly improved since the first models. At the shortest focal length, subjects close to the frame will be greatly distorted with an effect very close to fisheye lens, which can be interesting. Just remember to take close up portraits a from farther distance and use the zoom or have your subject in dead center leaving the sides empty of any vertical line.

As an old 35mm SLR guy, Ive used many camera bodies and lenses over the years. My trusty Canon EF and Tamron lenses have served me well and saved a lot of money compared to Canon lenses. Technology marches on, film and paper is expensive and hard to find, and the image quality of the digital world has improved greatly. Im very impressed with the small size, light weight, and zoom range of this lens. Most surprising is the lack of barrel distortion and chromatic aberration in a 28 mm equiv. wide angle lens and it is also a 300 mm equiv. telephoto. Tamrons high electricalmechanicaloptical quality, smooth operation, and reasonable pricing practices are in full force. The autofocus is fast enough, but easily confused a common problem, as with all the lenses Ive used on my Canon T4i so it is probably the camera, not this lens.
MICHAEL –
I wanted one lens that I could use when on vacation. I wanted a walk around lens that covered closeup and zoom. This lens does this for me. I know that it doesnt have a Stabilizer option, but I have fixed that by increasing my cameras Shutter speed when I zoom over 125mm. I mostly take landscape, wildlife when at the zoo. It doesnt do well in low light, that is why it is only 4stars. The quality of the build is very good for such a low cost lens. It feels good on my T2i and I take it every where I go. The colors it produces are better than I expected and the focus speed is good for what I use it for.

The Tamron AF 18200mm f3.56.3 XR Di II is a versatile, wellrounded lens. The lens produces sharp images at both ends of the 18200 range. The lens does seem to suffer from slight outward creep, though I have noticed the same problem with the Sigma 18200mm f3.56.3D DC. The major upside to the Tamron and Sigma 18200s is their affordability, especially when compared to the Nikon 18200mm f3.55.6G EDIF AFS DX VR II about 400.00 more on average. The Tamron lens did leave something to be desired with regard to focus noise, especially after being spoiled by the Nikons Silent Wave motor. However, the construction of the Tamron lens is probably what bothers me most. The lens has a cheap feel, being made of lightweight and less durable materials, but one may notice this only after dealing with heavier and bulkier Nikkor lenses. I have read articles stating that the seals on the lens are easily penetrated, though I have had no experience with this problem. Generally speaking, this Tamron lens is a good product for novice and expert photographers alike, and it wont force you to break the bank. If you are willing to spend some extra cash, I would point you in the direction of the Nikkor lens mentioned above.

I have been using it for timelaps photos both land and closeup shot. I fine it to work great The shot are sharp and no flare noted. I have not tried any filters on at this time. For the price it a GREAT lens

Env developmentYou can travel with a bag full of lenses, or you can travel with one.I love photography, but I dont want to be one of those guys who travels with a giant bag of lenses especially since I do a lot of traveling in exotic locations where your luggage space and carryon can be a challenge. For me, the ideal solution has been to trade off a bit of performance for a single lens with an extremely adaptable zoom. Back when I was using film, I had a Tamron that was about 25 to 300 mm, IIRC, but it was build to Minolta. When I switched to a Canon digital, I wanted to build on that and bought a Tamron 18 to 200 zoom. Its been as versatile as I expected, letting me zoom in on animals in Africa or shot wide cityscapes in China if you dont mind the smog in the way, of course. Its been very durable, with a few bumps and a fair amount of rain not bothering it. The few times Ive flipped to manual focus, its been easy to use.The one thing is that compared to separate lenses it is both pretty expensive about 300, I think and fairly heavy, both due to the mechanism to cover such a wide range. But if youd rather put one lens on your camera and leave it for the whole trip, and still get the pictures you want, it could be the right choise for you.Env development

I used Tamron before and I am happy with it. It requires flash in low light situation. I use it for taking people pictures and product photography..

Hi, Ive been a film photo hobbyist for several decades just now exploring a DSLR. I enjoy traveling light and the allinone 18200 XR DIII fits the bill. This lens is light small, takes great pictures and a very good values. The AF is a little noisy, but typical.I would recommend this lens to walk around a city or the country side and be able to handle many photo opportunities.
Chi Deb –
I took the lens for a test drive at the local botanical garden to see how things look at different focal lengths. This lens is great. I was able to get some great telephoto shots inside and and had plenty of light and shutter speeds. It was pretty fast for a large lens. Easy to hold and it holds Cokin filters, which I bought the 62mm adapter for. The zoom is a little hard to move, but I am ok with that, because that tells me that I wont have to worry about the focal length changing while Im focusing or releasing the shutter. The lens made the camera heavy and I noticed how much I shake when taking pictures, and will need to use a tripod and remote to reduce the movement. But, I really like the results and versatility of this lens, and its a keeper. Will bring on my trip out of the country.
liamb83 –
Excellent lens. Highly recommend. I rarely need to change lens now.
MICHAEL –
I use this lens mainly for outdoor shooting on nature trails, landscape photography. I know that it doesnt have the Tamron VC, but I get around that by bumping up the shutter speed. I usually double the shutter speed when I am above 100mm and I found that my results were very good. It is light weight, looks good, feels good in my hands and doesnt change the weight balance on my T2i. The Zoom lock is nice when I am walking around and I dont have to worry about the lens extending on me. I am pleased with the way it focuses, it is quick and quiet. For the price, it is a wonderful addition to my group of lens.

Im a retired pro and former photo lab owner who has always used Pentax and Nikon lenses on Pentax and Nikon bodies. Had doubts about an after market lens but find this to be equal to the job of replacing two Pentax lenses with no loss in quality. Maybe the focus hunts a little more than the Pentax in low light. Overall I am very happy trading this lens for the other two. Dont hesitate to buy this lens.
jollier13 –
Very well zoom, fast and accurate AF outside, but a little misses in a room or dark, need to use manual focus. Good wide angle view without big distortion. For this money value its really good stuff for entry level photographers.

Good carry on lens, perfect for outing and day light conditions. Little slow in focusing. Not that good in low light conditions. Gives a good, solid and sturdy feel.

Excellent lens for the price. Have had a few Tamrons in past and all are very good. I will always buy Tamron, however with this multi versitality, hopefully be a long time.

Good low priced all Purpose lens. Decent build quality for all plastic body, sharp optics.
