I bought this lens as I needed one lens I could take on hikes as I do a lot of mountain walks. This is a cracker as at 24mm the relatively wide angle on a full frame captures some great landscape shots. At 100+mm it is good enough for capturing greater landscape details. It’s not good enough for wildlife photography unless you are already close to your subject. Having said that if you use a camera with a high pixel. Count you can still crop and enlarge and the results will still be good. I’m not a professional photographer btw, and I’m not up on all the technical lingo so I can’t comment on really specialised technical performance, it for me in summary it is a well built peice of kit with OSS it’s a superb all-rounder. 2 people found this helpful

I’ve had this lens and my Sony Alpha 7iii for several months now and I’ve used them in the Canadian Rockies (landscapes) and at a family function (portraits). The lens image stabilisation along with the camera body’s stabilisation means I can take photos of lighthouses on the shore from a speeding boat and the image comes out pin sharp. I virtually never need to use a tripod. The huge 77mm diameter and very low f-stop means it gathers lots of light. Dimly lit rooms are no challenge. When using the low f-stop portraits have a great depth to them and I’ve yet to need more than f-16 but it goes up to f-22. 24mm is plenty wide enough for most landscapes and 105 is pretty good for most shots. I did find I wanted 200 to 300mm for whale watching but that was to be expected. When I bought by A7iii I was expecting to buy a 35mm or 50mm prime lens but this beauty does everything I need. I love it. 3 people found this helpful

Great lens. Excellent quality. The declared characteristics are very close to an excellent indicator. In my opinion, everyone should have such a lens, no matter where he takes a photo. Whether it’s portraiture, urban, or nature photography. Everywhere the lens shows an excellent result, or close to such a result.

Always consider lesser know Brands! After much research and comparison I took the plunge!! Wasn’t too concerned because I have always had Excellent Customer Service from Gadget Tree. The tablet is excellent albeit I have only had it for short while. Transfer of Apps and data was easily done. The speed is excellent as is the fabulous screen. My eyesight had to adjust but I used settings to maximise “relax strain” mode. Two things worth considering…..the tablet is quite heavy but it didn’t take long to get used to AND the casing I purchased from Gadget Tree didn’t have a very wide bevel so whether using in portrait or landscape mode you have to keep an eye on where your fingers put pressure. Occasionally I wondered why some functions wouldn’t work then realized my mistake. This is not a criticism…….if you plan to use the tablet on your lap it’s worth paying extra for a case that has multiple adjustments. EXCEPTIONAL value for money and I used the excellent short term payment scheme introduced by Gadget Tree and Clear pay. Any questions please write!!!! PLEASE NOTE this is NOT a paid review!! 2 people found this helpful

On the whole this is a really good lens with excellent image quality, good image stabilisation and a useful zoom range, in a relatively small package. It’s not the lightest lens going, but the good build quality surely accounts for some of the weight. Used on an A7IV, any image defects seem to be mostly down to the camera’s grain at higher ISOs and not due to the lens itself, with the image stabilisation working really well even in lower light levels. I don’t see any fringing across the zoom and aperture ranges, but as with many lenses the mid aperture range does seem to be the sweet spot. The only reason this lens doesn’t get full marks is because of its dust sealing, which is poorer than I’d expect. Putting the lens on a new camera, and not taking it off, resulted in various dust specs appearing only a few days after, and more appearing almost each time I use it. If the camera or lens were old, I’d put it down to ingress when changing lenses, but on new kit this shouldn’t have been a possibility. I can only assume that it’s down to the lens breathing when changing zoom. 2 people found this helpful

This is as superb lends for the A7 range. It is possibly the best walk around lens that Sony offer – at around 650g it is light enough to carry around all day, and with the 24-105 zoom range it offers wide angle to telephoto capability. Perfect for use as a travel lens, when we can do that again! The constant F4 allows for use in fairly low light, the autofocus with a Sony A7iii is fast and accurate and i am delighted with image sharpness thought the focal range. The background blurring is pleasant, and can be easily adjusted, of course, through changing the aperture on the camera to give more detailed background should you wish This is a G lens, so the build quality and optics are high. It comes with a focus hold button, and a useful faux leather case 5 people found this helpful

Have previously used 24-70 f2.8 sigma which is a fantastic lens. Sold my gear 2 years ago and rebought the a7iv very recently. Didn’t have the cash for the sigma and read some great reviews for this lens. Gave it a shot and wasn’t disappointed. It doesn’t have the f2.8 shallow dof but with some creativity with its 105mm reach you can get very creative and near f2.8 background. Great size, great in low light. Covers portrait well and is a superb walkaround lens. Great sharpness, weight, silent af and overall a great performance lens. If it was f2.8 it would be huge but it’s well balanced and a solid build with weather sealing. Would highly recommend this “kit” lens
