There isnt much to say about the camera original battery. I use two batteries on my Sony A7Rm4 when shooting with the vertical grip. It doubles the camera battery life.

  2. blank

    Giovanni

Has a large capacity and can run for several hours of straight 4k recording. Charges pretty fast so you can operate all day with only 2 batteries, if you dont want more than that and have access to an outlet.

I needed another battery for my A9ii as I was shooting several weddings coming up and I like to have as many extra batteries as possible. Battery life is excellent especially considering its for mirrorless cameras. Ive used aftermarket options and the past and theyre just not as good. They never last as long and sometimes the Sony cameras dont interact very well with them. Stick to the genuine Sony batteries

Using this in a Sony A7iii and I got about 5 hours of video shooting on one full charge. Percentage indication on camera and on charger seem to be accurate for time remaining on given charge.

  5. blank

works as it should, charges, holds charge, dis charges the way a stock battery should. not like those third party batteries do. These NPFZ100 seem to last forever. i got 10 hours of shooting in and still didnt drain it. Those third party knock offs cant even compete. buy original and have the confidence you need in your batteries.

What can I say about a battery Its pretty good for a mirrorless I suppose. I shot over 1200 images on one battery during an allday softball tournament this past weekend and had roughly 20 battery left. Im a Canon shooter primarily, so Im used to good battery life from DSLRs and this makes battery worries a nonissue for my A7 III. I use two in the battery grip and I could shoot all day with plenty of power to spare. My only nitpick is that they seem to take forever to charge, and Sony didnt include a battery charger with a 2k camera body. I dont really want to leave my camera sitting around with a cable plugged in all the time, so I purchased a third party double battery charger and it works great, its just kind of slow. At least the grip will charge both batteries if I just leave it plugged in to a power source while Im away from home.

Bought this battery as a back up for my Sony camera. I am constantly going remote to take pictures and need a back up just in case. Excellent decision. Bailed me out a couple times.

  8. blank

Works great Just like I expected. Super long battery life. I shot an entire wedding with just this one battery.

Ive always believed in using proprietary products when purchasing accessories. Why pay Thousands of dollars on a camera body and then skimp on a nonOEM battery to save a few dollars. Is that worth voiding the warranty

  10. blank

    Ricardo

I bought this battery for a backup…the one i have it is still doing great. This battery charge fast and last a long time. It all depends on waht u use it for,,,filming or photography. I would recommend this battery not only because its fast charging but it holds on very long and its compatible with other Sony equipment. Different cameras

  11. blank

    Kathy

So far the charge on this battery seems to last most of the day. No problems yet. You can never have enough batteries.

  12. blank

    Larry

Major improvement in the Z battery used for the a7rIII vs the W battery used in prior generation noted for their short battery life. The good news is that never had a fresh battery change mandated during a shoot like routinely happened with the W in the a7rII, but is always good to have a spare. When you see the other one low before going on a shoot, put a fresh one in and know wont need a backup as the other one is in the charger. While more expensive than generic…you only need one and assured that will support the electronics in the camera without false readings. Stick with Sony.

I can safely say, you get what youre paying forI tried two New Mowa 3rd party batteries and after two years one started failing and the other doesnt hold as much charge anymore, meanwhile the original that came with the camera still going strongSo want ahead and got a 2nd one. it costs 3x as much, but at least I dont have to worry about it overheating inside the camera or failing in middle of a jobId say buy one Sony and one 3rd party if youre on a tight budget, but use the Sony ones and keep the 3rd party away as much as you can, just to be safe

I shoot weddings on my Sony a7siii and usually get through a full day of shooting on two batteries. I have a third just in case, but Ive never needed it. And those are 10hour days shooting on and off. But I am sure to turn the camera off if Im not going to be filming for at least 5 minutes.

It was a five minute struggle to remove the battery from the plastic plastic, which will live in a landfill for 1,000,000 years. It would be easy to cut yourself on the sharp edges.

I had received a Watson battery with the purchase of my A7iii and found it to work well with the camera. But somehow I had my doubts brought on by the battery warning every time I used the Watson.I compared the technical data of the SONY with the Watson battery and I found some difference in the milliamps. I was told it didnt matter. But just to be safe, I bought another SONY battery.

I purchased 2 of the Sony NPFZ100 batteries. They were a Christmas gift for my husband. He has a Sony A 9 Full Frame camera and this is the kind of battery it calls for. I have learned the genuine Sony batteries are the best and definitely stayed charged longer than the reproductions.Rather buy the batteries on Ebay or Amazon I chose to purchase from BH because they are very reputable and stand behind their products.

  18. blank

    Yojimbo

It sure is pricey, but its the most reliable battery for my Sony A7S III camera. When Im on a shoot, I always take a few of these NPFZ100 batteries with me because I know if my Vmount batteries or battery bank arent working, then I can always depends on these batteries. The only aftermarket batteries that comes close to these in term of capacity is the Watson batteries, but I constantly getting the battery error message after the latest firmware update.

This is a great battery. We have been using this brand for quite some time due to its longevity. Record in high quality HD for hours and hours. We do BTS recording and photoshoots and only need 2 batteries for the whole day. Usually when we get to the 2nd battery, its been more than half a day of nonstop content. Highly recommend, even if it is just your back up battery.

these work with A7iii and A7siii as well as other Aseries Sony cameras. i love the fact these ones last much longer than the old A6300 batteries.

  21. blank

    Edward

I like to keep at least 4 spare batteries, charged and ready to go. I use Sony cameras for still, and increasingly video projects. Ive tried thirdparty batteries, which cost less but prove unreliable. Its worth the money for products you can depend on.

  22. blank

    Yaya

Spare batteries are always great to have for your camera, especially when traveling. Although it is a bit pricey its worth having to keep on capturing breathtaking shots or videos you would potentially miss by not having a spare. Charges at a fairly decent speed. Battery life lasted me about 6 hours with the camera on pretty much the whole time.

  23. blank

    ApplePowerBrick

In case your wondering if you should buy the Sony branded battery or one of the off branded batteries let me help you decide. Go with the Sony Unless they have an agreement with Sony and are Sony certified your just asking for a substandard product. Sony just last longer and are guaranteed to work and why take the chance and have that lesser quality battery die on you just when you need it the most. The only downside is the cost as I wish they were a bit cheaper.

  24. blank

    chris

Thank you Sony for finally stepping up to the battery plate. No more need for a battery grip as this battery last much longer than the old FW50 battery. One thing I must say, though, is to also invest in the Sony battery charger for this battery as in camera charging takes twice the time. Sony does not include the batt. charger with the A7 III, and I see a lot of people complaining about that but… I guess they didnt do their homework before buying so I dont have a lot of sympathy for them… although, obviously, it would be nice if Sony included it as it is not inexpensive.. Anyway, not to digress, this battery is very nice to have and you can shoot all day with it, but, of course, Id get at least one more and then you are really set.

  25. blank

    MBALLFPV

This battery is great. Its the same as the included battery with the Sony A9 and A7 Mark III cameras. Lasts about 700 shots per charge. Its nice to have a spare and with the vertical grip, you can load two charged batteries for even more battery life.

  26. blank

    James

Despite the really great improvement in battery life from the old 50 a7RII, I always keep at least four to six extra batteries charged for being in the field. I use battery grips on my RIII RIV bodies and want to be covered in case of an emergency on a photo hike. Quality batteries, only buy from Sony. Dont buy batteries from other suppliers as they wont last.

  27. blank

    Jesust22

I would recommend these batteries instead of third party ones, never had a problem with them. Really good reliability

  28. blank

    Josephlippert

I have several Sony mirrorless cameras. They all used the same battery which is great. When I bought the newer a7III I found that it uses the NPFZ battery. While I dont like the charger Has a separate cord which is easy to misplace the battery life is much better. I do like it.

  29. blank

    Matthew

In the beginning I was skeptical. I was just going to buy a cheaper brand of a battery for my Sony. But. After researching and reading so many reviews about this battery. I went for it. And I am definitely proud that I did. I definitely would recommend this battery You will not regret buying it.

One thing Ive learned over the years is that you get what you pay for. Ive rarely had issues when it came down to where the rubber meets the road. Photography is a passion and I used to use other brands to save money. Well… its a 5050 shot as to what the ultimate satisfaction will be. I love Sony batteries

  31. blank

    Bruce

Ive always bought factory batteries feeling that theyre the best choice for any given camera. Im assured that the specs quality are correct for the camera.

  32. blank

    Marcus

3 stars due to the value. Way overpriced for a battery. I own Pentax cameras and thought it was hard to stomach 40 bucks for a battery, which actually lasts longer than this one but most likely due to it being a DSLR vs mirrorless. Sony needs to quit gouging customers on their batteries.

  33. blank

    Diego

Great batteries to have in case you need. I get good time out of these but always good to have a spare for long shoots and dont have to worry about shutting off and putting on the camera all the time.

I love these batteries because they last really long. You can get a good shoot in with one or two batteries. Ive worked with this and canon, but definitely happy with this

I have used Sony cameras with the ftype battery for years, and had good luck with third party batteries. This battery is a radical improvement in battery life for Sony, and charging speed is good with the Sony charger. However, as is always the case with native camera batteries across major brands, and more so with Sony, the z type battery is overpriced. AS a value proposition, this battery loses in my opinion. I give it a 3 star rating because of value, or lack thereof. Additionally, Sony charges 88 for the charger, which is ridiculous.I also use Canon and Nikon cameras, and have had good luck with third party batteries that save money. Sony is making it incredibly difficult to use third party batteries with every new firmware upgrade to their newer cameras that use the ztype, so Ive been paying 80battery, almost as much as a car battery, for a camera battery. This is my main issue with Sony and their pricing strategy with photography tools. They offer a fantastic value with cutting edge features for camera bodies which photographers buy the least of, and excessive price points for their lenses which photographers buy the most of, Which are quite good, but no better than the top tier lenses from competitors in terms of optics and image quality and their accessories. This pricing strategy makes Sony a very expensive system to work with.

  37. blank

    Henny

Sony has improved their battery, and I couldnt be happier The battery lasted for an entire day of outdoor filming Thats incredible To perserve battery, I was very on top of turning my camera off when I wasnt shooting.Although pricey cmmon Sony, this battery worked as expected with my Sony A7III.I would be afraid to try a third party battery, so Im waiting for a sale to stock up on these essential batteries.

  38. blank

    KIRK

I used a single battery over the course of 4 hours with about 1700 pictures on my A7RIV. Anyone should get at least 1 if not 2 spare batteries. Just please dont get the generic batteries.

  39. blank

    Nurgul

this battery is significantly superior to its counterparts from China. if you just wander the streets with the camera turned on the battery lasts for two or three walks of 3 hours, sooperating time on a single charge is more than sufficient.

  40. blank

    Joellen

Ive used both Sony brand and off brand with my Sony Alpha cameras. I noticed that the Sony brand is much more resilient and holds charges longer in almost any condition. Worth the extra for them.

  41. blank

Really What can I do Complain about Sonys price Say that the little green strip on each battery makes me angry, even though it pounds out a solid amount of videophoto hybrid time on my A7S3 Phptt…on a 3500 camera, i Just flat dont wanna be dealing with Watson batteries that crash out in half the time I think they should. Get these and allow yourself a loud sigh of relief. Youre home with OEM Sony alpha batteries.

  42. blank

    Nick

Use this battery with the Sony A7III Great cameraCamera came with on battery and I needed a backup.I bought aftermarket ones and they last around 6075 of what the Sony batteries last. They drain much quicker. The Sony battery cost quite a bit more but they have phenomenal performance.

  43. blank

    Daniel

Its a sony battery which performs exactly the way you expect. However compared to the 3rd part options. It does seem over priced, but you dont have to worry about inaccurate battery readings from the camera atleast.

  44. blank

    Andrea

I upgraded my SONY A7rII to the SONY A7rIII. This battery has a much longer life than the batteries from the A7rII. One of the reasons I upgraded was the battery life of the A7rII was really insufficient and I had to purchase multiple batteries to get me through the day.

  45. blank

    Arsalan

This battery is no doubt expensive but it is perfect for the latest cameras. In the past I have used third party batteries that were cheaper but they did not provide the same output.Highly recommended for latest Sony FF cameras.

  46. blank

    Brian

These batteries hold a good amount of charge considering the size. I highly recommend picking up at least one extra battery for the a7 III if doing casual shooting throughout the day.

  47. blank

    Kevin

Yes, these are more expensive than the old NPFW50 batteries, but they last sooooo much longer, so you need 1 of these for every 4 of the old ones. I typically shoot 2 hours of 4k video on one charge, and Ive managed to squeeze 1100 photos out of a single charge Theyve been holding up pretty well and dont seem to build up memory. Also the Sony batteries are way better than the generic replacement batteries Ive tried out they hold charge better in the cold and dont discharge when theyre not in use. Solid buy.

  48. blank

    Richard

Having grown up with Sony cameras, beginning with the A100, I considered this battery a signifiant jump up in duration of charge and number of shots before failure beginning with my A7r iv. I have three of them batteries. Freezing cold is problematic, and in particular forget about burst shooting for wildlife. But I expected that and I am satisfied overall.

  49. blank

    Barry

The NPFZ100 battery used by the Sony A6600 camera is a much welcomed and needed upgrade to the smaller NPFW50 battery utilized by the earlier version A6000 series cameras A6500, A6400, A6300 A6100, A6000. Way to go Sony, it was a long time coming One Z battery more than doubles the standard usage time of its predecessor W battery.

  50. blank

    Devin

These batteries take a while to charge but last for a good long while as a result. In my experience, be wary of offbrand batteries because after a while, they can start wearing out faster or giving the camera false readings of their remaining capacity.

  51. blank

    Anthony

People might say a lot of bad things about Sony, but one thing thats not debatable is how long their batteries last. These things are great

  52. blank

    William

When I ordered an extra battery for my new Sony A9, I expected that Id probably need to use it on the first day of shooting, given my experience with previous A7 models. Of course, Id ready that the battery life on the A9 has been greatly improved, but I didnt expect that it would be good that one battery still had 59 left after a full day of shooting. Of course, Id recommend that everyone get a spare battery, but now you dont need a bag of them

  53. blank

    David

The Sony brand battery for these Alpha cameras are always the best option. Off brand batteries work fine, but these always outperform.

  54. blank

    Ramon

I know there are a ton of knock offs of this battery. But the Sony brand of this battery is the only one I trust. Works reliably.

  55. blank

    NatMD

I usually buy non branded batteries and for the most part, they work well. However, since after the newest firmware update, the generic batteries always causes the cameras to pop up a warning about nonofficial batteries. I figured, probably should just invest in at least an officail battery. Do not really need a lot of batteries anyway since these last a long time and a single battery is enough to last a day, at least for me.

  56. blank

    REESE

My battery has been great. Its nice to have an additional one that I can depend on. Adorama shipped quickly and I am very pleased.

  57. blank

This batteries are excellent . Bought an extra battery for my trip to Peru and i was more than happy with the life that this batteries offer you .

  58. blank

    Joseph E

I recently went on a three day vacation. I carried a backup or extra Sony battery. I could have shot all three days off of one charge. This new battery greatly improves the life of the earlier, smaller battery. I toyed with the idea of an after market battery but decided on the Sony because I did not want to take a chance on an issue with the battery.

  59. blank

    Victor

Very expensive item but is absolutely necessary when going on a client shoot. Ive had bad experiences with the Wasabi third party batteries when using that for my A7III so I always recommend using the actual camera manufacturer batteries.

  60. blank

    Mike

I have had this battery now for a little over a month. I have done four different sets of milky way shoots, several wildlife shoots, and several shots of children coloring Easter eggs. All on the same charge with 45 still remaining on the battery. I would highly recommend the Sony NPFZ100 battery. I will in the future purchases a second one for a backup to have in my camera bag so I will never be caught with a dead battery.

  61. blank

    leonard

I used to have the A6300, but would have to cary 4 or 5 batteries with me, and often found myself running out in the most inopportune times. Now with the A7C, and these larger batteries, I can shoot all day with one.

  62. blank

    Joe1

It is what it is, and with Sony OEM batteries, you know what you are getting, and will definitely pay a pretty penny for it. The one saving grace is that these batteries are beasts compared to the previous Gen versions. These will last a lot longer than their counterparts, so at least you wont need to buy as much to get similar run times for your late model A series Sony body.

  63. blank

    78rainbowcolors

The battery has no problem to work with new Sony A7 III firmware. But it is not the genuine product. When it is full charged it shows approximately 89 of usage. And you have something like , from personal testing experience 1 hour for video. After that it will shut down, because it cannot give you enough current. Also the weight is not like the genuine battery. So it is ok, but not the genuine one.

  64. blank

    Timothy

Love how compact and incredibly long lasting these batteries are. Seems wild to pay this much for one battery especially considering the size of the thing, but its value is well worth it.

  65. blank

    Gerry

It works as a battery should. Havent actually taken enough photos to determine how long the battery lasts, but having two of them ensures I wont run out of shooting time.

  66. blank

    Joshua

Ive used several different third party batteries in my Sony FF cameras and while they tend to work fine, annoyingly Sony has chosen to cause all of them to display warning messages that have to be acknowledged every time the camera is turned on via firmware updates. As a sports shooter that also shoots an occasional weddingevent, this is unacceptable. Its even more annoying if you use two gripped cameras at a time, like I do. As a result I only use OEM Sony batteries now. I still keep a couple of the old ones in my bag, but only as backups. Obviously something in the third party batteries isnt the same as the Sony battery, or they wouldnt cause a warning message. Yes, theyre a bit more expensive, but if you want a battery that just works, every single time… the OEM Z100 is the way to go.

  67. blank

    Larry

All I can say is Sony original batteries outperform the rest. Had chance to really see the difference and Sony originals last much longer. It is worth the extra money.

  68. blank

    Kyle

Lasts longer than the previous 50 series battery. Battery lasts a long time anyway. This is what sony users were looking for and its getting better. There arent any 3rd party battery for these yet so users will have to get this one. Yes its pricey but they are great batteries and being the named Sony brand is great and potentially good for resale. I use these batteries in my Sony A7 III and vertical grip.

  69. blank

    John

Sony rechargeable batter works well in the Sony mirrorless camera. Be sure to have a spare as the mirrorless cameras chew through the batteries quickly.

Everyone says this Sony Z battery is expensive, but when you need it, its priceless. Sony batteries have never let me down. If you rely on your Sony camera for an income, dont compromise, buy the Sony battery. These Z batteries seem to last forever, theyre awesome I use this Z as the 2nd battery in my grip alongside the original battery that came with my A7iii.

  78. blank

This is the best sony camera battery so far Upgraded from Sony a6400 to a6600. And the battery life blows away the battery. The camera was a big upgrade as well. The new battery is also in alot of full frame models too.

  79. blank

    Jonathan

Obviously these work great. They are hands down better than any aftermarket battery. Ive tried many. They fully charge and last longer, but at the high cost…Im still not sure which one is better. The biggest problem is that now they are updating firmware to basically reject other batteries and force all but the most creative or daring to use their brand. Kind of a sucky move. But they work well and charge well, so 4 stars.

  80. blank

    Josh

This battery lasts and lasts It is small compact and charges fast with the wall charger This battery lasts longer than canon batteries for their cameras. Any Sony camera with battery is a must have.

  81. blank

    David

I shot some brief 4k footage and a fair amount of photos, the battery lasted me several days. On a longer day adventure, I had a second battery handy and thought I might have to pop it in, but the system never gave me low battery or refused to work. Im very impressed.

  82. blank

    Jeff

I cant argue that OEM batteries and chargers are the best value. But after having aftermarket chargers quit working and aftermarket batteries physically swell up, Ive decided to stick with the camera manufacturers power supplies. This battery is kind of spendy. Fortunately, you shouldnt need nearly as many of these for spares as we used to with the smaller ones. Im pretty much good to go with one spare. In fact, I made it through all last year without any spare.

  83. blank

    R

Im coming from a Sony a7R II which used the smaller NPFW50. I used to have to travel with 4 NPFW50 batteries. On a typical shoot, I would use up 2 batteries and a half. I now have a Sony a7R III. I decided to buy an extra NPFZ100 battery just in case. Now, I can shoot through my entire 64 GB memory card in RAW around 750 photos with just one battery. I rarely have to swap batteries unless Im shooting will over 1000 photos.

  84. blank

    PawX4

If you have owned an older Sony Emount camera you know what I am about to say. Battery life with the NPFW50 was awful. I have been carrying six NPFW50 batteries around for over 5 years to power my Sony A7RII. With my new A7RIV, I can easily make it through the day with one or perhaps two NPFZ100 batteries. They are a bit larger, but the extra life is great. You could put the money you safe buying fewer batteries toward that new lens

  85. blank

    Matt

Theres not much to say. Its a battery. Has a higher capacity than most 3rd party brands and in my experience, has a longer lifespan. Great product.

  86. blank

    Justin

Since you really only need 1 backup battery with the newer bodies, it isnt too much of a burden to buy the pricier OEM version. Ive had a lot of cheaper batteries for the older A7x models but they eventually lost their life faster in my experience.

  87. blank

    Dahvideo

Coming from the old npfw50, this is much better, I know its pricey for a battery, but last just as long as 3 of the old ones. I could of gone generic but you never know with firmware updates, better to be safe than sorry

  88. blank

    Michael D.

I skipped the A7r ii due to issues battery, 4k overheat. I switched from another top brand and have to say this camera is amazing. Its not cheap, but the results coming out so far are just stunning compared to my prior setup. You never knew you needed 42MP until you have it, and being able to see in the viewfinder exactly what the image will look like is incredible. Im getting phenomenal HDR results with the exposure bracketing as well.

  89. blank

    petesidewalk

Does what it says. I wouldnt buy an aftermarket Sony battery because of unpredictable quality. This battery works great.

  90. blank

    Michael

This is a larger battery than those used in the 7 series of bodies. Consequently, it gets more shots per charge. Depending on how much you use the back screen, and how many shots you take in a session, it will probably go all day. My experience is that it doesnt last as long per charge as some of the reviewers claim. For the body I shoot bursts with, I purchased the battery grip to double the capacity. The charger is compact and charges in a few hours.

Great battery, holds charge really well. I bought it as backup before I went on my North Europe trip in 2019. Im pretty disciplined about charging my battery the night before. So I never needed to switch battery during the date.

Best batteries for Sony mirrorless. I would recommend buying this battery over any 3rd party batteries. This will last you all day, I have 1 extra just in case, but havent had to use it once. Its worth every penny. Strongly recommend

Coming from the A7II, I was extremely happy to find out the A7III used a new upgraded battery. So buying this OEM battery as a second has been extremely satisfying. The battery lasts a long time and a massive improvement over the previous versions. Youll be set for all day.

So far so good, but I felt the price was expensive. If one is shooting with an A7iii youll quickly realize it uses a lot of power and depending on how much shooting youre doing, one could use a handful of these.

Much improved over the batteries for the earlier model cameras. If the cost was a little less I would give it 5 stars, but its a little overpriced IMHO. But a good battery nevertheless.

This battery is simply amazing. How do they get so many mAhs into a package that is almost the same size as the FW50 My a6500 and RX10 Mark IV all use the FW50, but my a7R Mark III uses this battery and it has changed my work flow on set. I bought the a9 battery grip and run 2 of these batteries, I can almost go all day long now. THANK YOU Sony for listening to us on the battery problem.I would love to see a similar efficient technology to this FZ100 size and weight to mAh ratio in the NPBX1 and the new J series battery for the RX0. Sony mirrorless is great, but a battery like this FZ100 makes the battery life at least comparable to DSLR equivalents. Though even those batteries arent getting as good of a ratio on weight to mAh.

In case youre thinking of buying a cheaper brand of battery, keep in mind Sony has software built in their cameras that will detect if its not a Sony battery installed, and then you will get an ERROR screen every time you turn on the camera, plus you wont be able to see the batterys life on the screen…..so stick with Sony batteries, even if they are a little more money.

I now only have to carry 2 batteries instead of 4 knock off brand batteries.Seriously, if you have money to buy eitherAlpha a9 IIAlpha a9Alpha a7R IVAlpha a7R IIIAlpha a7 IIIAlpha a6600…then you have money to buy the OEM Sony battery. Not only does the OEM battery lasts MUCH longer than offbrand batteries, but the on screen display is much more accurate as time goes on. I found that the offbrand batteries on LCD display worsens over the course of the months of usage my camera dies when it says 29 remaining. Also, offbrand batteries can disrupt the electronic connections in your camera Rare, but dont take a chance on your 14004000 camera

This battery singlehandedly solved my biggest issue with mirrorless cameras battery life. I once went through 3 batteries in a day on my old Olympus mirrorless camera, but this Z battery lasts me all day with juice to spare I shot all day in 30 degree weather and barely dipped into the 50 range You get over twice as many shots per charge than a competing manufacturers camerabattery, which is just excellent.

When you compare the price to third party alternatives its hard to say what you get by paying double for a Sony battery. Many people have been using the third party batteries for years without any issues. I used third party batteries for over a year without any issues or noticeably lower runtime until Sony decided to lock them out with a firmware update.

I recently upgraded to the Sony a7 mirrorless camera system, and purchased extra Sony batteries to expand capacity. The only other battery for the camera is the 2000 mAh Watson B42372, which has slightly less capacity, but is a good battery. One of those came with my main camera kit. It comes standard with a plastic protector plate see photo, so that the contacts are protected from dust when the battery is not being used. The Sony battery included with my camera body did not have a protector plate. Unfortunately, neither do any of the Sony batteries bought separately. This is annoying, as even with recessed pins on the battery, there is still a chance of debris clogging or shorting the pins. A clipon plastic plate is such a small, simple thing, I dont understand why its not standard. Every other battery Ive bought for my other camera systems came with some sort of protection. It makes sense, and is a bit disappointing that Sony hasnt thought of it.

The battery for the new sony batteries definitely hold the charge as well as a dslr. I dont trust 3rd party brands because over a short period of time, I found that the batteries dont hold the charge very well. Also, why risk your investment with cheap batteries that saves you a little bit of money and end up costing you more because youll have to replace it anywayAt least thats what I told myself and so far Im very happy with it

Sony batteries always work great, theyre just so darn expensive. I have two other off brand versions that work great too except that when Sony updated the a7iii to v3.0 firmware you get an error after about 1 minute that locks up the camera until you agree to it. Not a big deal for casual shooting but on a paid job it can cause you to miss a shot. This all has more to do with the other batteries but what Im getting at is that if you use your gear for paid or critical work, buy the Sony battery. It will save you a lot of headaches.

  118. blank

Very happy Sony switched to this bigger capacity battery. Normally on my Sony A7SII I was going through about three to four batteries per shoot, but with this batter with my Sony A7SIII I have been able to cut that down in half or have even lasted a full shoot on the battery itself.

Bought this for the Sony A9. Theres only a couple retailers you can guarantee to get authentic Sony Batteries, so I recommend B H for that. Coming from the A7R2, the A9s batteries can easily last a full wedding day doing photography. If youre mixing in filming a couple hours of 4k then of course you better have two of these. I turn my A9 off a lot which helps quite a bit.

The Z100 battery is bigger than the one I use with mySony NEX7. It seems to just keep going and going. I might could get along with just one battery for my new A6600 camera, but you never know where you will be or what your shooting requirements will be when the camera battery does start running low. It is sort of like having an insurance policy that you can keep shooting no matter where or what is happening when you have this battery charged and ready. A necessary expense if you are professional.

I love Sony products, especially their highend cameras. However, when it comes to the batteries they make life is shortlived. These cameras require a lot of juice, but considering the competition, Sonys battery life has never been that great. The NPFZ100 has a tremendous longer battery life than the NPFW50, but you will still need more than one to make it through a days shoot using these batteries alone depending on what you shoot photo or video.

This is a great battery lasting nearly all day for my A7R3. I do have a second battery just in case I need it but so far as a hobbyist I have been just fine without the 2nd battery. This is a HUGE step up from the prior generation battery for my A7 that I needed to carry minimum 4 batteries. Now, with my new A7R3, battery is no longer a big concern. AaronK

Sonys mirrorless cameras do use a lot of power, so if youre out taking pictures all day, a spare battery gives you peace of mind and extends your shooting before the next recharge. Just as good as the battery that came with the camera, and since its from Sony you know it is fully compatible. While certainly not cheap, its not worth risking your investment in your camera on an unknown generic replacement.

I bought 3 more of these units after purchasing my Sony A9 my very first Sony alpha system so that with the VGC3EM Grip, I would have a perfect 2 2 to swap with. Just an important FYI I shoot strictly STILLS, so apply my review from that perspective. I cannot testify on a videographers perspective and I apologize for that. Whats amazing about this battery is the duration. I have borrowed my friends Sony A7s A7r cameras to test out the Sony experience and I can easily remember how many batteries he had and how much I needed in a days shoot. I test batteries in two methods 1 A field day. A day of travels casual shooting here and there. Before I had my 3 spares, I was relying on my single battery that came stock. This thing lasted several days before running out. Night day difference from the NPFW50 most certainly 2 Fullon shoot. I shot a fashion magazine cover shoot with a single battery and I think I used maybe 10 by the hour. In total, I mustve compiled about 1700 images. Things to note This battery is a slightly bigger heavier, but so is the A9 compared to its predecessor models, so that shouldnt be a surprise. One battery will most likely last all day of heavy shooting for stills from full charge having at least 2 is something Id definitely recommend any owner of the Sony A9 or any camera that will use this battery

  161. blank

Ive used 3rd party batteries before but I often find that they last half as long, and sony is a little harsh by not letting you see the remaining battery life. I prefer to stick with the native batteries, as one battery easily lasts me an entire day of shooting with room to spare.

This is a battery. You most likely need a replacement at some point or an extra one for your camera, so go ahead and buy it. I dont think you really need to be told whether or not you should buy a battery, but hey, maybe you just like having one battery or saving your old one that doesnt keep a full charge… you do you. Honestly, one thing I do have to say is that im glad sony decided to up their battery game with this in their A7 series. Much better than the 6×00 batteries.

I have tried offbrand batteries before but Sony is the original brand and works much better then offbranded batteries. The price is a bit high but at the end of the day its worth the price.

Battery charge lasts a long time I keep a backup during my travel photography days, but can often get by with a single battery on most days. Im happy with it.

Spent a 12hour day shooting a music video last week powering off and on between setups, of course, and was amazed that we never even fully discharged one of these batteries I have 2. YMMV, but my experience so far, in that shoot and others, has been great.

After trying so many knockoffs that claim they are as good as OEM, but really they last about half the time as the OEM, I decided to spend 80 for this battery and its worth the money Its so nice just to carry around 2 Sony OEM batteries vs 45 knock offsListen here, if you have money to buy an A7III, A7II, A6600, A7R, A9, etc. then please, why are you being cheap and buying knockoff batteries Just spend 80 ya cheapskate Ive learned my lesson. Also, there is a small chance knockoff batteries can disrupt your electrical current in your camera

This batteries are fantastic. In the past I went cheap and bought third party batteries just to realize how much more Sony ones last, I mean shooting and its lifespan. Im still using my batteries from 2018 intensively and they dont disappoint me.

Wow Such a huge improvement from the batteries in the A7R2 and A6500. I purchased this as a second battery for my A7RIII. As a professional photographer you always want to have backups for the unforeseens. My purchase of this battery is for that reason. With only 1 battery I can shoot several Senior Portrait Sessions in a day and still have battery left. I only shoot stills so I can not comment on how long this battery lasts shooting video, but in my guesstimation, it should be enough for most professionals daily jobs.

I now own 8 of these and have had no issues with them. They work great and have been reliable. Shoutout to Sony for using the same battery for multiple cameras and shoutout to BH for excellent customer service.

No real stress tests on it yet, but the Sony branded batteries just work. Maybe I should try some thirdparty batteries for comparisons sake, but something just doesnt sit right with me when it comes to putting offbrand stuff in my precious camera.

I have purchased many, many brands of thirdparty FZ100 batteries. None of them even close to the OEM from Sony. Yes, Sony FZ100 is expensive, but it worth every penny. Dont waste your money on those cheap thirdparty batteries. In the end, you spend more

Just bought the extra battery for my external battery grip. Dont have any issues with battery life but need two for extended shooting or when shooting in sub zero temperatures

These are great little batteries that are used across many Sony cameras. The new design is lightweight and holds a lot of juice for those long sessions. Very dependable

OEM batteries are the best. Dont get 3rd party. These are the best you can get. Great buy

This batteries are great, I wouldnt go for another brand. There is no saving money in other brands, stick to the originals.

Sony batteries a bit expensive but guarantee steadfast reliable camera operation without constant incompatibility issues There is nothing more frustrating that having to stop shooting to clear a massage about the battery not being compatible.

This battery just keeps going. A second battery is a must have for any camera body that I have. With the A6600, this just keeps going and going.

If you need this battery you need it, and it is considerably more expensive that the battery needed for earlier models of the A7 series, but as compared to the battery for those earlier models, it features much improved capacity and lasts much longer, eliminating one of the major problems with shooting capacity. I cannot yet comment on this particular battery in terms of long term use, but the earlier OEM Sony batteries that I had for my previous A7R2 were still going strong after constant use for 4 years, whereas some cheaper batteries I purchased started losing capacity almost immediately and all died within one year. You get what you pay for.

I shot a Graduation which lasted about 2 hrs. I shot on bursts through most of the ceremony. I was surprised to see that it still had 34 power still left. I always have at least one spare battery. However, I would feel comfortable with just one fully charged battery. Great Job
