This is an amazing and sharp lense The buttery smooth Bokeh results in some amazing pictures, I used it mainly for car photography and coming from a kit lens this is a night and day difference Would recommend for anyone looking for a wide angle lense for a sony emount.

got my A6400 with a 18135, OK for convenience but not the sharpest lens. The 16mm sigma will give you three extra stops of light and it focuses fairly close as well. Love the 24mm equiv. focal length as well.

Pictures and Video I take with this lens look great on my 65 inch Sony UHD Tv. The colors are closer to Canon than the Sony lenses which to my eye look white washed. I really think the a6500 Sigma colors look more natural than my Canon actually. In my book the lenses to get for the Sony A6500 are a Sigma 30 1.4 , 16 1.4 and the Zeiss 1670 f4 yet agian better color than Sony . With these lenses I have a lens for just about everything. They are also the sharpest without stepping up to full frame. A con would be the weight of the 16 being my heaviest lens but for what you get its a trade off I will take any day.

After watching few videos on YouTube about this lens I had to try it for myself and I am delighted with this lens. I do videos on YouTube too and vlogs. This lens is fast, silent and amazing quality like any other sigma lens, the built in of any sigma lens been always great. I totally recommend this lens for any photographer, videographer or streamer. Plus is very affordable lens. And my experience with WexPhotoVideo, always been great too, a lot of my camera equipment, including a camera itself i got it from Wex, fast, reliable and top customer service.

this lens give a whole new meaning to night photography and videography as well the fact that it does not have stabilization hardly makes a difference the shallow depth of field makes my shots look a lot more professional. autofocus is just as fast as the native lenses. i had upgraded from my kit lens and it makes a world of a difference. If i had to name a few cons about it, it would be the no stabilization, its a prime lens so it dont zoom, and its an overall bigger lens which is kind of a good thing as well because it gives you a place where you can put your other hand, providing more stability. i love these lens. these sigma lenses are a must have, not necessarily the 16mm but at least one of these. its all preferential. I just like the wide zoom with a bit of distortion.

This lens came out about 6 months ago, and the amount of excitement found across the internet from all kinds of users was simply overwhelming. Ive always been frustrated with not being able to have something wide and fast and sharp. This totally fixes it Its awesome for indoor shooting. You capture a good part of the room and the atmosphere in it. Even though its wide, because of the F1.4 aperture you still get depth. Bokeh is lovely. And its sharp right from wide open Little eye lashes come out tack sharp now. A brief outdoor shoot shows landscape shots as good as it gets. This totally outresolves the 24mp sensor from corner to corner.I cant even begin to express what a difference this lens makes. I was going to try out full frame, but not anymore. Thank you Sigma. And thank you BH for making it so easy for Canadians to buy from your world class store. It took 3 days to get it, and there were no delays or extra charges at the border or on delivery. If I for some reason lost this lens, I would buy another one with zero hesitation.

When I first ordered this lens, I wasnt quite sure about it. It had a great deal on it, so I bought it on a whim something that I never do to begin with. I ended up waiting through the Passover holiday to get it. I thought at first it would make a great architecture lens, but it seems to not be wide enough for certain spaces. I want to make it work for portraiture, but it takes the right angle for this focal length. I really love it for editorial images, and its growing on me for landscapes. The biggest thing that I love about this lens is that Sigma has made a lens that is extremely sharp from edge to edge, and that wide aperture makes shooting in low light so much better and faster. The AF is just as quick, if not quicker, on this lens as it is on my Sony glass. I love this as a compliment to the Sigma 30mm. As soon as I can I will be selling my Sony 50mm f1.8 for the Sigma 56mm f1.4.If you are looking for a wide angle lens, do yourself a favor and consider this one.

Fantastic lens, easy to use and very sharp. The added amount of light I can get vs. my 3.5 and 4.0 lenses is a huge help in lowlight situations. Great for landscape as well as YouTube videos, especially if you dont have much space and have the camera up close to you or use it as a webcam. One of the most highly recommended lenses out there for Sony APSC and I have to agree

I use this lens on a A6500 body. The first thing that impressed me was how sharp this thing is. Compared to the 1650mm kit lens, this is night and day. This lens coupled with the great A6500 sensor is also a low light beast with this F1.4 aperture. A bit of distortion and chromatic aberration wideopen but nothing that you cant fix in Lightroom. Autofocus is very quick and accurate when compared to the 30mm F1.4 for example. So bottomline this lens is perfect on a A6500, would be better with stabilization for those who own a A6000 or A6300.

I wanted a wider angle lens than my 50mm here it is 16mm of lush rich wide crispness. I can see this lens staying on my camera for a long time. Between it my 50mm I have most of what I want to shoot covered. I spent a considerable amount of time coming to my decision to buy this lens, I believe that was time well spent as from the moment I looked through this new lens yesterday I knew I had got what I paid for then some. Im relatively new to photography, so perhaps I am simply overwhelmed by the quality available, as I spent most my life using point shoot cameras… now I have an a6400 SONY APSC am slowly buying lenses, carefully too, as I want the best I can find at the best price as my budget is poor… this lens my 50mmm are terrific. Im a happy camper, I dont know that I can say more. The lens feels robust, nice look, the focus ring is very smooth to use, the auto focus is quiet responsive, not quite as fast as my SONY 50mm but I didnt buy it for the speed of focus, I bought it for the accuracy of focus the image quality is excellent that is why I bought it. I dont expect to have any problems.

Sigma continues to hit home runs. This lens is wellbuilt, images are sharp, and the price provides excellent value. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a sharp, fast, wideangle lens for Sony Emount.

I use this with a Sony A6600 camera to record video. You simply cant compete with the autofocus and image stabilization of the camera and the sheer quality of this lens. With the right settings, this lens will put your subject in focus and blur the rest.

Id done a ton of research and had been waiting for a deal on this lens. It doesnt disappoint. Ive had it now for just over a month and its not come off of my Sony a6500. The depth of field is amazing and low light shooting pretty incredible. I also use it for gimbal work and this combined with the continuous auto focus on the a6500 makes it ridiculously easy to get amazing footage. Highly recommend

I love this lens Very sharp. In the past Sigma lenses havent been the best with the focus hit rate for me but the three prime lenses by sigma for the EFM mount have all been just terrific. I am very happy with them. The 16mm is on the tad big side for my M6 mkII but not terribly so. Outside of weather sealing which of course the camera lacks as well, this is a perfect prime lens.

Especially considering the 2x crop factor on this. I love the focal length. Ive been playing with this for a few days. Surprisingly light weight. IQ and sharpness is 1010. For the price I honestly think this is one of the best buys in photo today. Yes there are some really good 100 dollar lenses out, but at least at this point with my shoot style Id take this over anything. Not much else to say about this lens. Tons of reviews online a majority are heavily positive. Spending 500 is never easy but just do it. You do need this lens.

The Sigma 16mm f1.4 Contemporary lens is a beautifully engineered lens, the minute you take it out of its box you know that you have a quality piece of glass. It is surprisingly long for a 16mm wide angle lens but when you consider the construction of the lens elements it is no surprise. It is also relatively heavy compared to say the 16mm Sony f2.8 pancake lens and when paired with the Sony A6000 series cameras it looks more like a telephoto lens. That aside the image quality from this lens is more than spectacular particularly when used wide open at f1.4. If you are into your lowlight photography or videography, then this lens is the king on both the Sony E mount and the Micro Four Thirds mounts. It is relatively good value for what you are getting and I could not recommend it highly enough.

An incredibly sharp lens. I use this for my Sony a6600 and frankly, for the price, its superb. That superwide 1.4 aperture enables you to easily capture the creamy bokeh of your wildest fantasies. If you are considering this lens, keep in mind that it does NOT have OSS. So, if you are going to be doing extensive handheld video with it, this lens is best paired with a camera that has IBIS. In the wise words of Maya Angelou, Its not the number of breaths we take, but the heights to which we extend all four of our limbs while screaming lyingon our backs.

I was looking for a fast, wideangle lens for indoor videography and stills at close quarters. This fit the bill at a reasonable price, so it was not a particularly hard decision to pick this up. I have not observed any issues using this lens wide open, although there must be some measurable loss of corner sharpness if you go looking for it. However, this has not been an issue for me when shooting typical subject matter. The autofocus motors are fast and quiet, although not completely silent. At this price point you might also consider the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f1.8, which is more compact as it uses fewer lens elements than this Sigma. I suggest the Sigma may be the better value of the two if image quality is your highest priority.

This review is not so much for the lenseverybody raves about the image quality and I can confirm that it is indeed incredibly sharpas the service. The lens, as you see here, is not a stocked item. It will dropship directly to you from Sigma in CA, as I recall. This is not a secret they told me this ahead of time in the store. But if you are in a hurry to get it, be smart and plan ahead. I bought mine here about 3.5 weeks ahead of Xmas, but it still was not going to end up coming on time for my sons big present. I had to buy one locally for 1225 and then return this one after Christmas. NOTE the price is the same everywhere, but I was hoping to use receive Rewards points on the purchase. I ended up keeping the extra lens as an early birthday present to myself since both my son and I have the excellent a6300.So….all this to say, 1. incredible lens for landscape and vlogging, 2. plan ahead for shipping time since it wont be in stock in any of the BB warehouses or stores, and 3. they will take good care of you in the store if you have to do anything weird with returns, Rewards, etc.

GREAT lens, and a steal at the price. A bit heavy bigger than it looks in pictures but I was prepared for that after reading all the reviews. This is a great wide angle prime lens that produces very nice bokeh is great for shooting in tight spaces or to elongate your subject. Sigma never disappoints I shoot with it on a Sony Alpha A7ii and the quality is great.

The Sigma 16 f1.4 offers a wide field of view of 24mm. The fast f1.4 aperture allows for good low light performance.Sharpness is excellent at f2.0 and pretty good at f1.4.Light weight and compact lens for Sony APSC and Full Frame camera in crop mode.

This lens is something special. I bought it after seeing more than a few reviews on YouTube. I have to say for the its really sharp and crisp .I also love how short the minimal focal distance is.you could use this lens as a landscape lens, a macro lens, and even a portrait or street photography lens with the right settings. The only con I noticed is that this lens produces chromatic aberrations and theres some slight barrel distortion when shooting in RAW. Those are only minor since they can be fixed in post.

I ordered this after watching a number of reviews TechnologyMafia aka Arthur R on primes to get for my APSC Sony cameras. As I have the A6000 and the A6400, I wondered whether I would need stabilization for photos and vides as neither camera has it, nor does this lens. It is not necessary as the wide angle of view, proper camera holding you can use a tripod if you want, or gimbal for smooth video, and the right shutter speed I dont go any lower than 160 for photos I dont have any issues. This isnt quite as fast a focus as the Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS, but I think the images are sharper. Ive used this for video and photos and have not been disappointed.

I bought this for night photography, and all I can say is that I am greatly disappointed. Without any significant light, I constantly get a failure to focus. In addition, all pictures that are low light, taken with ISO of 800 or less, and greater that .5 second have an odd amber tint to them. During the day it takes some great pictures, but it is uncanny as to how this one lens does not perform, while EF glass that is adapted to the M mount works just fine, as a does the 1545 kit lens all at night.

I guess I did not read the fine print but when I unpacked this lens, I discovered that it does not have the OSS feature that my Sony lens has. But that was okay with me because I bought the lens to use on a tripod while shooting the Milky Way atop the Rocky Mountains. I have not made that trip yet but am enjoying the lens while waiting for the opportunity to get my night sky photos.

Great lens for sony aps c cameras. I bought it to compliment.mynkitblens and my 35mm f1.7 and it is fantastic for the close ranger wide angle shots. While it doesnt have optical steady shot, it does a good job with video and I have no issues with it when shooting with mynlnedternal microphone. Im normally a Canon person but decided to get this lens to use on my Sony A6000 for webcamphotography purposes. This lens is sharp and AF is fast. You will not regret getting this lens. IMO, this is a very good investment for a APSC Sony camera system. F stop of 1.4 is also awesome. When I dont feel like lugging around my full frame Canon and heavy lenses, Ill bring this little guy with me 100. If you want a wide fast lens for Sony alpha series, try this lens out.

I use my Sonys exclusively for video, and needed a wide crop frame lens for tight situations. Most people think of this as a landscape lens, but in a tight spot as a close up, it has a unique and very helpful frame. The lens is an amazing bargain super sharp, very fast, beautiful bokeh, and autofocus. There is pretty much nothing not to like.

I ordered my Sony a6400 with the 1650mm kit lens from BH. A month later I ordered this Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. It surpassed my expectations x10. I live in Philadelphia and it took less then 2 days to arrive. I just received it today and I cant put it down. I usually never use Manuel focus, but with this lens its all I like using. Its soo smooth and soo accurate. Because its a wide angle lens its super easy to pull focus. I usually treat myself to a nice piece of camera gear once a month and next month it will be the Sigma 30mm 1.4. Ill definitely be ordering it from BH.

I have ordered three Rokinon 16mm lenses in the past. All three had to be returned due to a defect commonly called as decentering. Based on that experience, it would be rather unwise to order a fourth Rokinon, right So, I decided to go for Sigma 16mm, although I would prefer manual manual focus lens.Guess what I found, when I tested it. Exactly the same issue Rokinons had, maybe even more pronounced. Some may say, that something must be wrong with my testing method. It would be statistically impossible to come across four lenses in a row with the same defect.Yes, but why my other lens 24mm full frame Minolta doesnt show any signs of tilted plane of focus 19mm f2.8 Sigma doesnt show it either, at least not to such pronounced magnitude. In my test, I take pictures of a wall, covered with newspapers from about 10 ft. I go from wide open to about f5.6. The sensor of the camera is parallel to the wall and placed exactly in the center, so I can see in the viewfinder the wall as almost perfect rectangle, free of perspective distortions. If I set the focus at the center, I should get corners somewhat unsharp, especially at large apertures, but this unsharpness should be uniform for every corner. In case of Sigma lens, one corner was totally fuzzy, even at 5.6, while the opposite corner was ok. Also there was noticeable difference between sharpness of left and right side of the frame. Real life shots confirmed, that items on the one side of the frame get into focus at much different distances than items on the other side of the frame.Looks like finding a good working lens nowadays is harder than winning a lottery.

I received the lens promptly and well packaged from Adorama, as alwaysI bought this lens for taking pictures of friends and family in my home, with my Sony A6000. After trying different lenses in my modest sized home, I have found that 20mm, and even 18mm lenses just dont have enough field of view for such close quarters. However, this lens works perfectly Just the right field of view, and no Fish Eye effect. The images are crisp and clear, there does not seem to be any barrel distortion and I do not notice any exaggeration of facial features. And, of course, the lens works well in low light with such a large aperture. An area I was very pleased with, was how well my Sony A6000 Autofocus worked with this lens. My camera has had some struggles with dialing in Autofocus with lesser lenses. But Autofocus with this lens is Quick and SharpThis lens works perfectly for shooting video keeping focus beautifully, even in low lightThis lens is well built, solid, weighty, with impressive fit and finish. It has a nice wide, grippy focus ring, which is smooth with just the right amount of resistance. There really isnt anything I dont like about this lens. It works great in low light, works great in close quarters, super Autofocus, crisp clear images and video. Fantastic lens for inside photography Worth every penny

I purchased this lens for my Sony a6400 body on the recommendation of of some video bloggers and streaming content creators. Its AMAZING. Allows you to be very close to camera, throw your background out of focus, and count the unshaved whiskers that you missed that morning. Incredible Sony color, brilliance, and sharpness. If youre looking for jawdropping image clarity and want super depth of field, this is the lens if for any of Sonys E mount cameras.

That sums it up. I think this lens is a must for anyone using an EOS M camera. The big aperture and sharpness is as good as any prime in Micro Four Thirds. The only drawback is the weight. At 14 ounces, it is nearly a pound. Its a pint of beer. So while this is an amazing street lens, be aware of the size and weight. This lens is too big for my compact bag.

The specifications include … 4 years SIGMA USA Warranty. However, no warranty was included. Only a couple of papers in Japanese. The lens appears to be a greymarket item. If you want a warranty, do not buy this lens.

Upgraded from kit lens to this sigma 16 for streaming camera usage. The picture clarity was significantly better and the autofocus still works absolutely great with a6100 and a5100 cameras. Only negative is, man this lens is a lot bigger than expected

I use the a6000. I am an intermediate user. This lens is sharp and wide I use it for stills and movie. The focus is FAST in great lighting. There are no issues and would recommend to other beginners looking for a set focal length sharp lens.

I use this lens with my BMPCC 4K. That mean I dont use continuous auto focus or face detection etc. When I pre focus touching the screen I achieve the focus 100 of the time. Is really sharp, size and weight is good compared with canon dslr lenses Im use to use all the time or Sigma Art that are very heavy. The only CONS manual focus isnt smooth. You cant go from point A to point B without having issues. You cannot make a shot bringing the focus from the back to the front continuously. Look like it jump from one point to another. And you have to keep turning the focus ring longer than you need to allow the lens to continue changing the focus. Or even go back and forward to complete the focus change. If you are looking for a lens for you BMPCC 4K, skip this one and go with Olympus some of them at least have IS or go with manual cinema lenses. This also happens with the Sigma 30mm 1.4.

Ive use nearly every lens available for Sonys APSC mount. This is among the sharpest of all of them. It reminds me of their 30 mm f1.4 which is also well known for its sharpness. Chromatic aberration seems very well managed. The bokeh is very nice and round at 1.4 which is a really great thing to see on such a wide lens. FOR VIDEO some people have had concerns about it making noise. Im not sure about internal mic because I never use that, but with a Rode VideoMicro attached autofocus motor noise is almost zero when I turn my computer volume up full blast when playing back a clip recorded in a quiet room.

Note Did not buy this lens on this website, since it was sold out a common occurrence it seems still and there is a reason for that, this is a marvelous lens The quality of this lens exceeds some of the best out there and its classified as a Contemporary more like ART in my eyes. For a wide angle lens 16mm on the Sony E mounts this will be come a 24mm equivalent. There is something about this lens that feels like… cheating… The reason why I say this is because this lens makes photos feel like they are taken on a full frame camera system even though its meant for a APSC. This is because of the great Depth of field this lens achieves especially when its at F1.4 one of the only Sony E mount lens especially at this focal length that achieves the feat at a reasonable size. Its is no stranger that it is larger than most smaller Sony E mount lens but it is very balanced.Minimal distortion that can be corrected in post or in camera, no stabilization however so this is a only real negative I can find with this lens correctable if you have a Sony a6500 and up.Also this uses filter threads 67 so you can easily adapt your old filters to this lens.Really there is no reason why you shouldnt buy this camera unless you dont like wide angle photography. This will be a classic mark my words get it now

I bought it for my sony NEX6.Its received many good reviews but heres my personal experiences Sharpness not sharp as I expected may affected by my Nex6 16 mpx sensor. Out of focus a lot I noticed that if I used manual focus mode, its so much better.

Great lens Very sharp pictures. Works great with my sony a6500. It is a great lens for landscapes and even for taking indoor pictures because of its wide lens can be very close to subjects and still include everyone in the photo. Can use it with low lighting because its wide aperture of 1.4 Delivered on time. Always glad to do business with Adorama have never been disappointed when order from them.

I am very satisfied with this lens. Its extremely sharp and great in low light. The fact that there is no stabilization does not hinder me in anyway for on the fly street shooting. My only complaint would be that the lens is large. The image quality is outstanding and the focusing is fast. The price is reasonable. B H service was excellent. Thus, five stars.

I cant say much that everyone else has already said. Its sharp, its fast, its fun to use, and its been on my camera 80 of the time since I purchased it. Having a camera with a stabilized sensor is the best way to get the most out of it, in my opinion. Ive used this lens for astrophotography, landscapes, videography, and even the occasional portrait. The autofocus is great, but in quiet situations it can be heard so plan your audio set ups accordingly. The flybywire manual focus has improved a bit from the 30mm f1.4, but I still avoid using it since the Sonys autofocus works just fine for my purposes. Hopefully Sigma continues to produce these awesome lenses for APSC

The Sigma 16mm f1.4 gives you the sharpest photos. Great for landscapes, portraits and tight indoor shots. Also at f1.4 its perfect for night and low light use. Excellent for star and milkyway pictures. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of what came in the travel kit. Nice backpack, very good walking stickmonopod. Good selection of filters. A great lens and really good starter kit at a very fair price. I highly recommend this.

So I have actually had a chance to use for what I intended it for but recently, in Texas, during the winter storm we had when the power went out I used this lens married to my EOS M6 and it picks up so much light and creates wonderful bokeh, sometimes too much if your not careful. In my video it dint appear that is was dark but trust me it was dark and the cameralens did a great job. The body of the lens feels very solid and takes amazing stills. I highly recommend this lens but keep in mind it is a prime lens so you need to be selective on how you use it but overall, its well worth the money.

This lens is nothing short of amazing BH shipped my product very quick and got here on time safely. The lens is perfectly wide enough for vlogging, filmmaking, portraits, and anything else you might need. The 1.4 aperture is awesome The depth of field looks so good and every thing filmed with the lens looks super cinematic. As for the canon, this lens works perfectly as if its a native lens. The autofocus is fast, precise, and smooth. It never misses a beat and is the only lens I keep on my camera. Its all around an amazing lens and can pretty much do it all from cinematic videography to impeccable portraits. I love this lens so much and would recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing lens that they can use for anything. BH did great with delivering it, and I am so happy I bought it Good luck creating filmmakers

I was skeptical about this lens as I own both a A7iii and A6400 and got this baby in and instantly fell in love with it on both cameras. The quality is amazing and superbly sharp. The A7iii you have to use it in super 35 mode but its still a beast and no worries of vignetting Im super 35 mode. Sigma is my go to for lens for my Sony cameras. At first I was bent on only getting OSS lenses from Sony for my A6500. But at this point, I am blown away by the quality and speed of the 16mm Sigma for the A6500. The pairing is phenomenal for both Photo and Video. My first use of the lens was for my wifes baby shower at an indoor location. It was great not to have to bump up my ISO because of the wide aperture as well as getting the nice wide view from a cropsensor for nice wide shots in the indoor location without much space to move around. So much more world can fit in the image than with my Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS which is also a great lens. The speed of the AutoFocus is only marginally slower than the Sony, but very effective and sharp I would highly recommend the lens

Using this on my Sonys a7iii, a6500, Im very pleased with the sharpness, and most of all, the lack of CAs, especially since I shoot it wide open fairly frequently. Only detraction is that theres noticeable distortion if youre not careful. It wont be a problem if youre shooting stills, but I shoot more video than anything else, and correction via lens profiles dont do me any good. Dont get me wrong, I think its a fantastic lens, especially for the price. Fits into my ZeissSony lens lineup very well.

Absolutely spectacular lens at a great price This lens is exceptionally well made in true Sigma form and the photos are spectacular I highly recommend this lens as a must for everyone starting out in photography Ive used it on both my apsc and full frame cameras with great results. Terrific for low light photography and landscapes

At less than half the price of the new Olympus 17mm Pro f1.2 this lens is an excellent value. Though it is a bit slower f1.4 than its counterpart, the optical quality of this lens is second to none. I bought it for indoor photography under low light coupled to my Olympus OMD EM1 Mark II. While the lens looks very plain it has a nice solid quality about it.I have the Olympus 25 mm f1.2 and was somewhat disappointed by the lack of sharpness. I hope someone compares this Sigma lens to the Olympus 17 mm Pro f1.2. I would like to know how they stack up against each other.Hats off to Sigma for making a great lens

This is quite possibly the best Emount lens you can buy for under 400 for your Sony crop sensor camera. I use it for my a6400 and I rarely take it off. It also performs excellently in low light. It is bulkier and heavier than the kit lens, so thats something to keep in mind, but for what this lens offers, its worth it. Would recommend.

I was looking for a replacement for my well used 17mm f2.8 Olympus. I was pretty unhappy with a Sigma Art lens I purchased with the MFT mount but I decided to take a chance on this lens. I am happy overall that I took the chance. At this point I I have run about 200 shots through the lens mounted on my G9 and GX85 in a variety of lighting conditions. Biggest positive is it is a very sharp lens. It is also fairly lightweight. The focus ring is also very smooth.I do find some minor things to complain about. The first is that the lens is not very contrasty. One of the things I love about using MFT cams as my walk around cams are the Leica lenses which require zero contrast adjustments in post. Pics from this lens can of course be improved after the fact so not a huge deal. The only other quibble is that the focus is a bit slow compared to the Olympus it replaces but still very acceptable.Overall this is looking like a good replacement for the Olympus. Not a 5 star product but it is a good lens and a big bargain. 4.5 stars.

Ive been a dedicated M.Zuiko and Leica Panasonic lens user for all my Micro four thirds cameras from the beginning but finally began experimenting with 3rd party lenses. I have especially found the Sigma 16 f1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens especially sharp and refreshing. Colors appear more vibrant. I also found the 60 mm version outstanding. And they are so reasonably priced.

Ive bought native lenses and 3rd party lenses for all the cameras Ive ever owned. But, I have always found that SIgma glass works reliably with every camera Ive used it with. I recently grabbed the Lumix G9 as a B cam for my work. Of course, this Sigma 16mm works perfectly with the G9, as well as it does with my BMPCC4K. Great lens. Highly recommend it.

It is a great lens and fast too. It is not as sharp as I hoped but sharp enough. It is super light weight and pairs well with my Canon M6 Mark II. I will use it for blogging and take it on a hiking trip late summer and hope to get some good experience before I go. I would rate this lens as a definite buy.

The whole second tier of vendors designing and manufacturing lenses, the Sigmas, the Rokinons, do a splendid job I think, in practical terms of producing not just serviceable gear, but equipment that stands up to the first tier of brands mainly the camera manufacturers and heritage brands of optics, like Zeiss. This lens does what I bought it for to shoot with. Its sharp, the autofocus is responsive, the contrast and flatness of field meet my needs. Ive been shooting, professionally and for personal fine art projects, for over 50 years, and Ive used my share of premium optics. Its rare that bargain designs dont at all at least come close to measuring up. Especially if I keep the lenses I use off the optical testing bench. This lens works for me in producing large format highresolution prints on archival printers good enough for exhibition. I dont bother myself about how it may be soft around the edges literally or figuratively. This is intended for practical use, not for lab analysis. The fit and finish are on a par with Zeiss and Sony kit I own, probably made of far more durable materials, but not detectably in the Sigma, which has mass and heft and, new at least, works smoothly and tightly as expected for focus, for fitting and removing to the body. Being used primarily with the Sony a6600. Its a wonderful combination.

I bought this lens for my Panasonic G9, which is an amazing Video Still Camera. I use it for Wedding Video, to replace my Nikon D7100 bodies. I tried still images, and the skin tones look very pleasant, not too much contrast, and also this camera works welleasy to set up Menu… Lens ReviewFor Wedding Video, My Rig consisted of Feiyu Tech a2000 3axis gimbal, Panasonic G9, and the Contemporary DC 16mm f1.4This lens works fantastic, the autofocus is great, the bokeh is lovely, and it seems like perfection that was built very well. The Hood stays on and does not loosen up, also the Manualfocus ring is smooth even though it is only focus by wire . I love this lens and recommend it. I recently filmed some close up work, shooting Food BBQ Ribs on a hot Grille for part of a restaurant commercial, the minimum focus distance was exactly what I needed. I am now thinking of also buying the Sigma 30mm f1.4 contemporary lens, and also another G9 Bodythe 4k 60p from this camera is Stellar.I have the Olympus 1240mm f2.8. it works great, the manual clutch is great, and autofocus with my G9 is also amazing, but this Sigma Line of lenses has gotten me really considering investing more into the Sigma Contemporary line of lenses… I used an ND8 filter when outside to get the exposure down low enough to use the wonderful F1.4 wide open. I also tried a few quick focus burst still images to check the focus for shooting images… Focus was dead on every time.. average of 20 random quick focus still images So to wrap things up, this lens is highly recommended, it is a direct fit for the M43 system, no lens adapters, all functions work, Lens is made well, does not feel cheap, weight is perfect, seems like you have a good piece of glass on your camera.Hope this review helps someone make a good decision. I am very happy with this lens purchase, and very Satisfied with B H…

I got this lens last week. Straight away, I am surprised by the quality. I have attached the first few images I took with it.It is the sharpest wideangle lens I ever used. Due to the sharpness, I can take a wideangle shot of a person and crop it to get a 50mm portrait field of view, and still, it is sharp as heaven. That is why, if I could have only one lens for my Sony Alpha camera, I will keep this. Thanks, BH for the safe packaging and ontime delivery

Ive owned a lot of lenses for my sony a6000, but this is far and above my favorite, it is fantastic in every way. Ive struggled finding a wider angle lens that doesnt suffer from horrible decentering yeah thats you Sony or smeary and poor corners. This lens is tack sharp all across the frame, in fact I am hard pressed to really tell much of a difference from the corner performance to the center performance. Even wide open at 1.4 this lens delivers spectacular results. The lens is built well, feels good in the hands, the focus ring is nice and smooth, and even though the lens is a bit on the large side it doesnt feel overly burdensome. I would easily spend more than they are charging for this lens, and at the regular price it is an absolute steal.

I got this lens to shoot underwater video and stills with my Sony A6500 in an Ikelite DLM200 housing. Sunday morning was my first dive with it. To say that it didnt disappoint would be a gross understatement This lens is razor sharp, with very fast autofocus. I found that with other lenses on this camera, I had to set the autofocus speed to responsive, which is much faster than Standard. With this lens, I have to dial that back down, as the AF responds a bit too quickly now for my tasteEven with the A6500s 1.5x crop factor, giving this lens the equivalent angle of view as that of a 24mm lens on a full frame camera, this lenss ability to focus at very close distances makes it an excellent lens for underwater work for all but the smallest of subjects. The image Ive attached is a saved frame from 4K video I shot Sunday morning. The subject is a curious Sheepshead that came in for a very close up look at my cameraI have several Sigma lenses for Canon the 24105 Art and 150600 Sports, and this very valuepriced 16mm prime for the Sony E mount continues that fine tradition of quality glass. The Sigma 16mm f1.4 Contemporary is an excellent lens for my Canon EOS M6 Mark II. After years of using much slower smaller maximum aperture lenses on M bodies, Ive discovered a whole new potential. Build quality is excellent as is autofocus performance. About half of the time I use the 16mm the M6 Mk II is in manual focus with focus peaking to precisely control the plane of focus. I know the pixel peepers say its a bit sharper at f2.8 and f4, but I dont see the difference. I also use this combination on a Feiyu AK4000 gimbal for buttery smooth movements. The lens weighs significantly more than the kit 1545mm lens but I think it actually improves handling and sharpness a bit. This is an excellent lens both for people using an M body for 2nd or third camera on video shoots or for an intermediate photographer wanting to try some fast prime glass. I highly recommend it.

a great lens with a few faults. The auto focus is just a tad noisy….the accuracy is really pretty good..better than most aftermarket lenses. Still not up to Sony lenses but really good. Really good in video. The strong points of this lens…..it is wide and it does not distort as badly like some other wide lenses do. It does distort but not nearly as much as say a Zeiss 12mm or other wide angle lenses. Colors are good…..not Zeiss like…. a bit cold……can be adjusted in post production. The build quality is excellent. The size is not too big and is fairly light. Manual focus is much better than the Sigma 30mm 1.4. This lens is excellent for star and sky photography and video. Excellent low light performance. Images are really sharp. About as sharp as a Zeiss 55 1.8….maybe a tad sharper. Looks good on the Sony A6500……feels good too. Weather sealed is a plus. Bokah is excellent….nice and smooth. I also own a Sigma 1835 1.8 and so the Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens is sort of redundant. I will probably keep it though as it is a bit smaller and does not need an adapter. It also has that 1.4 ability for low light…..perfect for night shooting and sky photos. All the talk about this lens is pretty much true. It is one of those that if you have a camera that can use it, it is one of those lenses that you cannot go wrong with.

Amazing quality lens. Its hefty and doesnt feel cheap. The image quality recording 4k videos on a Sony A6400 is amazing The bokeh effect at f1.4 is really awesome. The auto focus is pretty quick on it as well. I havent had any issues in using it over the past week.

I bought this lens thinking it would be good for lowlight night shooting, but dont bother. It casts an odd amber color, and mounted natively to my M50, constantly gets a failure to focus warning leading to the camera being shut off, and restarted. I can throw my 1545 kit lens on, and not have any issue, but this lens is a problem child. Out of four other Sigma Contemporary lenses, and two Art series lenses, this is not worth the price or the Sigma name.

I mostly shoot with manual and vintage lens. After some adjustment to the shooting process and set up, this lens is a joy to use. It feels very balance and premium. Although this is not a native lens, it is super responsive and quick. The focal length of this lens is very versatile, it can shoot on any type of subject and light settings. All around, fantastic lens. Theres really nothing on the market with these specs.

These lens are the best you will get for Sonys APSC camera lineup. Works great with all of the a6000 series including the a6300 and a6500. The focus ring is super smooth so if youre doing manual focus, its super satisfying when rotating the ring. The AF is pretty good, even though it isnt native Sony lens which means that its not as accurate and it tends to hunt for focus quite a few times. If you listen very closely, you might be able to hear the AF noise in the lens but its no big deal. But for the most part, it focuses very well and these are PERFECT for vlogging. Ive been using these for my photoshoots and vlogs and let me tell you, the bokeh at f1.4 is extremely creamy and just amazing to look at. Overall, if you need wide angle lens, whether it be for photography or videography, these should be your first choice. Hands down my favorite lens for my a6000 and it hasnt been switched out for my other lens. Goes to show how amazing it is.

Ive had this lens for a couple of months now. This is by far the best mft lens Ive tried. It is unbelievably sharp edge to edge. For wide field Astro this lens is as good as it gets. At f1.4 the coma aberration and astigmatism is very minor and at f1.8 its almost non existent. It is in a whole other league to the sigma 30mm f1.4 which now is sadly inadequate. This is one of the few mft lenses that do justice to Olympus high res pixel shift mode. Its big and heavy but the results justify its form.

Total novice in all things photo and video, but Im already getting great use from this lens. My wife was a bit skeptical about me sinking money into a lens when, to her, the kit lens was just fine. Just a few pics and vids and she has completely changed her tune. I do some armature photography. I mostly focus on landscapes and cityscapes. I currently shoot with my Sony a6000. I think this lens is a must for any sony apsc cameras. It is super sharp throughout and being that I shoot on an apsc, my shot always has a 1.5 crop factor. This 16mm then still allows me to get a wide enough shot 24mm. It is also great for taking a huge family photo and dramatic shots up close.

Grabbed the Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC DN after watching a whole bunch of reviews on YouTube and reading through various forums for astrophotography and nightscapes. The lens is absolutely sharp, produces effortless sun stars and has enabled me to stitch together with very little vignetting at all stopped down to f2.0 the milky way.Its doing everything I expected it would do, and more. Theres plenty of reviews on this particular lens, so one more is not going to hurt. I will touch more on the negatives of the lens though. The lens is BIG. It significantly adds size to the camera body. It also adds a good amount of weight. So if you want something small to carry around, such as the kit zoom lens, this probably isnt the right lens for you. But if you want something that is sharp, gives you great images, has really good AF, then you wont be disappointed with this lens.

I come from a full frame Canon background and I recently picked up this lens for a Sony Alpha 6000 to use as a webcam. It not only performs like a champ as a webcam, it shoots photos well. AF speed is decently fast. Its certainly not the fastest but its def on the fast side. Sharpness is also very good. Ive seen sharper lenses but as a prime 1.4, its photos are pretty sharp. The size is large for a Sony mirrorless APSC, but coming from fullframe lens world, this lens is much smaller than what Im used to. It attracts less attention when youre outside. Overall, this is a relatively cheap lens that performs well on a Sony mirrorless body. I dont think you can go wrong with this if youre looking for a wide angle prime. Havent really done portrait shots, but as a talking head zoom camera, it does its job really well. There are also many YouTube review videos and the theyre very positive. This is a great lens. It did exactly what I assumed it would do based off of YouTube reviews. Its connected to my Sony a6300 and I was using it for video. The autofocus is super noisy. This doesnt bother me too much because, I use external mics or videos that have music and no need for audio from my camera 4 stars due to the price. This is the absolute best wide angle prime 24mm equivalent on a full frame. Fast aperture, super sharp, cant ask for more. I stopped using it because I bought the Sony 1655mm zoom however if youre not a zoom person than this is the absolute best wide angle prime for Sonys APSC lineup, period. The LMount Alliance is working This is a fantastic APSC prime for the CL system although larger than the other two Sigma primes. This lens is two stops faster than the Leica 18mm f2.8, a lot larger, very sharp, and a lot less expensive. If small size is key, go with the Leica 18mm. If larger is okay, then this is the 24mm equivalent lens for you.

Im a beginner but have a great passion for photography so I cant get to detailed with the specs so bare with me. This lense is paired with my Sony a6000 I wanted a lense that was going to give me clean crisp images and wonderful bokeah. I research so much and for so long I finally decided that this sigma lense was gonna be the best fit for me for what I wanted in a lense. Before I continue let me just say that im upgrading from the kit lense to this lense. The weight of the lense is about the same weight as the the camera and much more than the kit lense but build quality is phenomenal. Focus ring is smooth and the lense is a little bulky on my a6000 with that said, I still have no regrets. Even though this setup takes great landscape photos I really think its at its best when youre shooting portraits, the bokeh is fantastic if you want your subject to pop. buy this lense if you want that 1.4 aperture and ok with the focal length.

With a Sony a6400 camera, this may be your only video lens Youll probably only use the kit lenses for photos, but the Sigma 16mm f1.4 wautofocus is unmatched at this price point for video quality. Youll never need external lighting unless in very low indoor light conditions. You will not find better or faster focusing on any camera at any price point. Effective 24mm crop size is plenty wide for indoor family video. Image quality is superb, better than any Zeiss lens Ive ever owned. Side by side video comparison with a 2000 Sony lens will result in realizing you wasted the extra 1400. Image stabilization is overrated on Sony lenses, save your money for a Crane 2 gimbal or tripod. This lens is a must for anyone shooting low light videos. Spend the 400, it wont be a regret.

The Bokeh that the Sigma 16mm produces is absolutely beautiful Since purchasing my Sony a6400 Ive been looking for a new lens to add alongside the kit lens. Ive done a lot of research and this one has been at the top of my list. I was finally able to catch it in stock Best Buy and pulled the trigger. Without having built in stabilization, youll get youre best video with a tripod or a gimbal if your camera doesnt have it. The Sigma 16mm takes excellent pictures day or night with the 1.4 aperture. If youre looking for a lens thats great for low light and want to add that bokeh effect to your photos, the Sigma 16mm 1.4 cant be beat for the price.

So before purchasing this lens, I was praising the 22mm f2.0 native lens. Saw this was coming out and got super excited. I mainly do video, so seeing that it had no IOS made me a little nervous. But man that image quality and f1.4 just blows me awayIve seen some people say they dont or wouldnt use this lens for photography, but I think its great The images are very shark but a little soft on the edges of when opened up all the way. To me, it took the sharpest pictures all around at f2.8.For video, youll definitely need an ND filter. A good one too. Since it drops the aperture so low, a weak ND filter wont be very much help in harsh sunlight. I feel with EIS turned on, there was little to no shake at the cost of a small crop. With it turned off, youll get some focal length back but video will be a little shaky hand held.Overall, this has been a great purchase in my opinion.

Sigma 16mm f14 is the sharpest lens for Sony apsc cameras. I use 16mm for landscape photography and it works for me. I use monopod or tripod to get sharp pictures. I have no complain so far. Ive been shooting with my Sony A6300 for 2 years. While I love the flexibility of my telephoto this prime lens is game changing. This lens has rekindled my love for photography. And the images that it produces are awesome. The bokeh is so good. But if you dont need it the sharpness of my images is awesome. It is a little on the big side. Which adds weight. Makes the camera not as pocketable like when you use the kit 1655mm.But I debated on purchasing this lens for a while. And it was well worth the wait. If you shoot on a Sony APSC this is a must have piece of glass.

Is a nice option for a wide fast automatic lens for sony. The image is sharp and for video the auto focus works fast. Not extremely fast, but fast enough. I think that the only down side is that it doesnt have image stabilization inside the lenses. When you shoot hand hold video, it shakes a little. I would pay a little more for a OSS, but for the price that is wonderful. Ah, in adicional, its a good idea to purchase a high ND filter because the lenses is really fast, so is possible to use it with a higher aperture.
