Decent quality open ear wired headphones. For the price, a microphone would have been nice. Beige aesthetics an acquired taste, but at the end of the day you dont spend much time looking at them.

In short, these are amazing Open Back Headphones that blew my mind when I purchased them long back. It was my second open back headhone after a Grado that I purchased long back in 2010. Open back headphones may not be the best for daily usage and you need to be a quiet environment to really enjoy so I did not plan to buy anymore but after a friend gave me a demo of these headphones in his house, I took the plunge to buy them. I purchased them prepandemic and in a way, I managed to get most of them as its an ideal headphone for home usage and long hours without any strain. These headphones sound amazing in every Genre of music you throw and its will not disappoint you come what may. This is the headphone that I can assure will make your listening experience shift to a new dimension. The immersion you get with these headphones will just keep you hooked to these pair of cans. The sound signature that you get can be what is slightly on the darker side and may not sound as bright as many headphones but in no ways it causes any issues as with some time, you find a charm in the sound signature. The only issue that I can indicate is that you need a proper Amplifier to really get the best of these headphones. Plug it to your phone or laptop, you will still enjoy it 95 but to get the best, a good amplifier is needed. I use with a DACAMP combo and once you give it the power, these will just blow you away. If can afford just one good pair of headphones, then buy these and its hard to go wrong with these

Yes, these are good headphones, but the point is that they are comfortable. You can wear them over hearingaids, or sensitive ears because the pads are large and soft. I looked a dozens of others and these seemed o solve that problem best.
George –
Very pleased with these for piano practice. With the open design I can still remain aware of things happening around me.

Fantastic headset. After years of using high end gaming headsets the 599s are like a breath of fresh air. I use them in conjunction with the GSX 1000 for gaming, movies and music. Best used in a home environment as these are open headphones so bleed a lot of sound. If you intend to use these on a bus or train then look elsewhere.

I couldnt be happier with the HD599 headphones. The clarity of the classical music I listen to is outstanding. The comfort of the fit over my ears is so good you could think they were made with my ears specifically in mind. Congratulations Sennheiser, you have done it again. These are the fifth set of Sennheiser headphones I have purchased and they wont be the last.

I have been meaning to replace my old, and rather grubby, headphones for some time and had identified these as a suitable replacement inertia crept in but I was mindful that I was listening to less music mindful of the possible disturbance to my neighbours who are working from home but the special price reduction encouraged me to press the button so to speak and very glad I am that I did so too. Richers sounds have always been my go to place and once again you have provided me with an excellent product at a highly competitive price with great service. Thank you …

Ive been using these at work and they are great for the office where you still need to be aware of you surroundings. Pass through is great. The sound is full and clear Highs and lows are pretty amazing for 100 bucks. Great buyOh, and the cable is replaceable I dont remember seeing that anywhere. I purchased an after market cable with a microphone and that is just an amazing combo. Wish BestBuy sold that so I didnt have to hunt for it.
edonnel –
Great sound for the price. Extremely comfortable. Seems durable. Only problem is, the package did not contain a 2.5mm to 3.5mm cord but rather a 3 m cable 6.3 mm straight plug, so you have to buy your own.
Travis –
Driving them with the JDS Labs The Element and loving the sound these give. Really a rich sound without EQ and great for gaming or listening to music. I put a ModMic 5 on it to chat with my buddies in Discord and its just great
jgru5722 –
Nice sound. Works perfectly. Good replacement for my worn out HD 449s.
CHARLES –
These headphones live up to the hype. The best sounding headphones Ive ever owned. Tryed to get these directly from sennheiser, but they dont like debit cards. Kept declining my order. Its a good thing you got them in stock.

After becoming accustomed to the flavour of sound from these,I am rapidly becoming a fan. They are light on the head, if a little tight as yet, but better than others. The lead is somewhat bulky. Because of tinnitus I must ration my listening, but the Sennheisers are delightful.I am happy with my purchase

Ill happily endorse the guys at the Liverpool branch for their sterling service. Most recently, I purchased a pair of Sennheiser DH660S, which were delivered on time and at a fantastic price.
Jordan –
These are great headphones. They are comfortable to wear for hours, and they have a nice flat frequency response so they are great for monitoring. I highly recommend them
theitemlister –
Theyre nice and flat, meaning of course that they are even across the whole sound spectrum. I like my sound more crisp in the highs and less boomy in the mid bass with stronger lower end bass. With a little bit of EQ these are excellent for that sort of setup. They also have a very complex sound stage where instruments or various sounds in a movie have the perception of being in different places.

I bought these head phones online after some internet research and was reasonably confident they would be suitable. They werent so I was hopeful that I would be able to return them to you and perhaps put what I paid for them towards another product from your store. I was disappointed when I was told this was not possible because I had opened the box. At your Melbourne stores suggestion, I phoned Sennheiser who said they would have allowed me to return the headphones, even if I had opened the box, but only if I had purchased them from Sennheiser. I have since onsold the headphones at a significant loss. Regards Paul Slocum
Jash K. –
These headphones from Sennheiser are totally worth the asking price. Vocal and Imaging kings. If you are looking for a lot of bass, I think you should look at the DT 1770 PRO probably. But for vocal focused music theres nothing that comes close in this price range. These can be run from a good laptop and even a good high end phone in my opinion. They reach a suitable volume at 80 on my Samsung S10. But I am sure that a good DACAMP will increase the capability of these headphones. An amp might even increase the bass response of these headphones. I didnt take them off on the first 4 days after I got them Straight fire headphones for Rock and Pop
Gary –
I use these at my desk of my main computer for listening to anything from music to watching videos and gaming and the sound quality is great The openback allows me to still hear things in the room which is important to me but i also find that the sounds dont bleed out too loud.
Artagael –
I bought these to replace a 30 year old pair of Sennheiser HD 480s that had finally given up the ghost. Id considered replacing them over the years but never found anything that could compete on sound. The HD660S more than live up to their reputation. Crystal clear sound and tight bass. Good enough that you are limited by the quality of the source material not the headphones.
Steve –
I use my Sennheiser 660s in a professional recording studio, to monitor my narrations and interviews for a national radio show. I rarely use them to listen to music. In the soundproof recording booth, using a Neumann U87 for my vocal mic, the Sennheiser 660s provide me with the full range of my voice. But its not just the frequency sweep. They deliver a velvety sound that allow me to use my voice to the best of my ability. I used to use the Sennheiser HD 650s, and they also delivered beautiful tonal range. and that wonderful signature sound. But they died….so I sent them back to Sennheiser for repair and they are now my main backups.Niche review, yes. But for a radio show host, headphones are an essential part of the work. Thanks, Sennheiser.

This is the most comfortable pair of headphones Ive used. More comfortable than Sony MDR 7506 and 7520, Sennheiser HD 600, 650, AKG K701, K702. Sound reproduction is fine. At last, I can forget Im wearing headphones and enjoy the music.
Tarkan –
I have a lot of cans for a variety of different applications, and over the years have had many more.I bought these as, being a parent of two, my greatest opportunity to listen is at night and I was wanting a high quality can that could be a late night substitute for my HiFi.They have not disappointed They image superbly, have a stunning midrange quality and paint a beautiful picture of whatever Im listening to.I did see some complaints about clamping force, but I have not noticed anything myself, I actually find them to be very comfortable, even over extended periods.Well worth a demo if youre looking at a new set.

Ok… that was weird it autoposted my review as soon as I signed in. Please disregard delete the first review as it is incomplete. Now, Im going to tell you a little story about why I was quick to purchase the HD 569s Ive worked in retail for a very long time and Ive come to see a lot of products come and go, stay for a while or be discontinued.. But one brand that Ive always looked up to has been Bose. I know, I know typical answer. But when I met the Sennheiser representative he actually was speaking truthfully about his products.I asked him one question If you could purchase any pair of headphones what would they be and why I know he was going to say his own brand, but what astonished me was he grabbed a pair of HD 569s placed them on my ears and said Comfy I said yes.. He said now turn them on and have a listen. So I did. After I removed them he said These headphones answered your question I just nodded and said so are these your favourite He said by far.So my review is, do it. Pick up your new favourite pair of headphones.
MATT C. –
Awesome headphones, purchased them after getting the HD58x, whilst the sound quality is fairly similar between the two, the HD660s is just that little bit better in all aspects Nothing wrong with Sennheiser build quality, though for the price it would be great if they included some more premium materials as opposed to using the same plastics as the HD58x.

I had been looking for some headphones for late nightearly morning listening when the family are asleep and wanted to invest in a quality pair to match the rest of my setup.I had read many reviews before deciding to audition a few pairs mainly Grado, Sennheiser, Focal and I wanted an open pair, having already a closed pair.I demoed and decided on the Sennheiser HD 660S and have not looked back. The Sennheiser HD 660S are a fantastic audio experience, they have a great, wide soundstage, excellent stereo imaging, a tremendous level of rich detail and are relatively easy to drive. I have them connected to one of several integrated amplifiers, but they work surprisingly well when connected directly to my laptop or my smartphone. They come with a wide variety of cables to suit almost any need even balanced and since the cables are detachable, they can be replaced with 3rd party cables if needed.Im currently going through a female vocal, acoustic and jazz phase of listening where often quietly recorded passages need to be presented and not get lost in the mix, and the Sennheiser HD 660S help dig out and present those details perfectly. They manage to pick out small details in a recording in great clarity and present vocals excellently.I am not a bass head and do not listen to such bassheavy music so cannot comment much on that aspect, but they perform excellently in bass, midrange and treble for my listening needs, completely overdelivering what I was expecting from a headphone experience.Note that since they are an open design, you can still hear external ambient sounds, so a quiet listening environment is recommended. They are not the best choice for out and about listening in a noisy city, or for enjoying music when your washing the dishes With such an open design there is significant leakage meaning people sitting close by can also hear music to some extent. This is not an issue for me but worth considering. The final word is I am extremely happy with my purchase and am looking forward to many more hours of late nightearly morning critical listening from these excellent headphones.

Fantastic Thanks to DankPods for turning me on to the HD 6 Series I couldnt get the 600s as they were out of stock, decided to make the upgrade to the 660S instead, Im very happy with the quality, both build, and sound. I recommend these to anyone who wants that step up Ive paired them with the FiiO K5 Pro when Im at my computer, but if Im out and about, I pair them with the FiiO Q3. Sounds incredible
Brendan L. –
I did a lot of research on these before purchase and gave them a good listen before buying. They are very accurate in reproducing most frequencies, but are a little low on the bass.
David H. –
Sennheiser 660 S headphones offer a clean, clear, precisely detailed soundstage, in both width and depth. Musical instruments have an air about them. The realism with these headphones is outstanding. Close your eyes and you are there with the musicians. This is what music is all about. One note of caution not recommended for enhanced bass loving listeners. These headphones produce the bass that the music demands. They dont add or emphasis bass. They are precise sound producers.I wouldnt use them with smartphone type devices. They will reward you, when they are properly powered up. Clarity, detail and the soundstage will openup to enhance your musical enjoyment. The headphones are of quality plastic onstruction. I found the fit out the box was good. However, they can be gently stretched to reduce the clamping force, if required. These are one of my favourite headphones. I could happily live with them, forever.
rave1494 –
Watched a review on these headphones via Z Reviews. Check him out. I was looking for something I could listen to music with and also game with comfortably. And I believe I have found what I was looking for. They sound fantastic. At 150 Ohm I have them running off of my Topping MX3 with no problems. Waiting my other Headphone amp to show up so I can run these bad boys in Balanced. If you can pick these up for a good price, do it
overthink –
its open back but doesnt slide like my ATH 700x. wish it came with a 18 cable. Otherwise, fantastic not amazing sound quality but pretty average for what I paid 5060. Running them from a blue yeti 18 output right now.
rosengild –
Dont listen to audio snobs. Theyll have you believe a good set of headphones is one with a price tag of 500, or more. Sure, if you want to hear the full ting of Baldricks triangle youll need to splash the cash, but for us ordinary folk these Sennheiser HD599s are all were going to need. Good base, good highs, good midrange and at this price its a snip.
Dave A. –
Best headphones I have ever owned, so glad I purchased them, they give a nice warmth to the music and I can hear things in the music that I did not hear before. A great quality headphone.
Raj09 –
I rarely write reviews unless a product is terrible or stellar. Well, these headphones are pure delight. I had a pair of Grados which I have been using for a while also bought from Addicted to Audio. While the Grados have a bit more energy, the HD599 have that typical Sennheiser signature balanced with a wide, detailed sound stage. These headphones open up the tracks and let you hear so many instruments. I am listening to some old tracks on my computer and keep discovering so much detail in the songs.Highly recommended.PS I am also happy with the service from Addicted to Audio. I could track my order from the time it was shipped to delivery in 2 days. The package was well done. The headphones were in great condition. I will buy again.
Marius –
The sound quality is phenomenal but some of the materials used to construct the headset could be better at this price point. I would highly recommend a good headphone amplifier to get the best out of these headphones.
ANKUSH K. –
As i mentioned in title it produce the perfect mids with best lows and high .. Bass is also quite impressive . The only star which is missing is because headphone zone doesnt provide 3.5mm jack cable as it is placed in box together with 6.2mm 3 meter cable .. Product is good ..i am using it with my lgv30 with an inbuilt Hifi quad DAC .

I just love these headphones. If you want a comfortable pair of headphones for long listening hours look no further, they deliver amazing bass and really kick with crisp and clear sound. The earcups are amazingly comfortable and dont get uncomfortable easily. I have used these headphones for the last 2 weeks and its hard to take them off they are so nice. 1010
Kyle –
Ive had the old hd600, hd650, hd6xx, and the 58x. These are hands down the best out of all of them. In their stock form, the 660s have the best sound stage and the most directional detail out of any hd600 series headphone. The price is a bit more than the others but I feel the price increase is warranted.Put these on tubes and throw on lofi and just lets it take you.
Ian H. –
Fabulous clear detailed soundstage, easy to drive definitely surpasses all other500 600 series headphones.I would highly recommend the 660s to my friends anyone who appreciates absolutetop quality sound.

I have a couple of pairs of Sennheiser Momentum onears headphones which are decent enough, but not particularly comfortable. As other reviews of this type have noted, the headband leaves a dent in the top of my head, and they squeeze at the sides, which can be uncomfortable if you wear glasses. Having tried a pair of BW P9s, which a colleague of mine lent me one weekend, I was looking for a pair of overtheears headphone. Id also done a search for headphones that were recommended for listening to classical music and found Sennheisers HD 5 series were recommended. Ive had these for not quite a month at the time of writing and think that these are not about to be superseded any time soon. With respect to the first issue, the HD 599s have turned out to be even better than I thought. Theyre not just comfortable with their kindonthehead cups and their wellpadded headband, but light as well. Nice though the BW P9s were, they were too heavy. They were like having a couple of desktop speakers strapped to the side of your head. The cups are quite large, but thats a good thing and contributes to their comfort. My Sony MDR1aDACs may be overtheears phones, but they feel tight in comparison with these. As Sennheiser says, the sound is spacious, and its clear. Bachs Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 played by the Dunedin Consort starts out in a rather parpy vein, but doesnt end up aurally sludgy even if I think Bach was perhaps overdoing it a bit, and the result sounds a bit chaotic. The HD 599s also handle the lower sound of the cello in Bachs Cello Suites Tunnicliffe or Watkins both are good with aplomb, and this is about as bass as most of my music ever gets. They also seem to do something for the quality of Couperins Pices de Clavecin by Alan Cuckston, whose choice of harpsichord on the first album in the series Ive never been fond of. In comparison, the instruments Richard Egarr or Mahan Esfahani or other harpsichordists use on other albums sound much better. However, the sound on this album still remains a little too treble and metallic for my tastes, but thats not the fault of the headphones. I think its the recording of Telemanns Recorder Duets by Clas Pehrsson and Dan Laurin that is the problem. I find it to be a little too shrilltoreverb, and there are times when the higher notes start sounding like static, which may also be a consequence of the recording location Wik Castle in Sweden. The same goes for Fingers Complete music for viola da gamba solo too much reverb , but probably no pair of headphones can quite rescue these albums. The HD 599s separate out the different instruments on La Reverdies Laude Novella on the album Speculum Amoris very distinctly. Overall, whether its near CDquality MP3s, CDquality FLAC or 24bit tracks, or whether its instrumental or vocal music, there are no issues with the quality of the sound which the HD 599s produce. Id say that these are best with an amp. I tried them attached directly to my FiiO X5 MkII and then through my Oppo HA2SE, which definitely helped. I felt that the X5 didnt quite have the oomph by itself. Ditto with my Walkman and PHA1A. Most of the time I have these plugged into my FiiO K5 E17K, and the result is most satisfying. The nature of open back headphones makes them leaky in both directions, but for home listening in a quiet environment, this isnt a problem. The extras in the box are two cables 1.2m 3.5mm jack and 3m 6.3mm jack and an adaptor 6.3to3.5mm. What No carry case Even my Momentums came with a carry case. On the other hand, these arent meant to be portable. My final judgement is five stars for sound, but a star off for a lack of something more in the box than a couple of cables and an adaptor. But in all, I have no hesitation recommending these, which I judge to be good value for money.
AdamH666 –
Sennheiser really know how to make a pair of headphones. I wear these all day and forget I even have then on, they are that comfy. They sound amazing, and love the open back.
James –
I bought these after reading a review of best headphone or digital piano. These are the first open back phones I have bought. The advantage was supposed to be a more acoustic experience because one would have some reflections from the room.In truth they are just terrible Plenty of bass and very high end, but WAY too much midrange, which means if youre playing in the middle range of the piano it sounds VERY midrangy no highs or lows
NATHANIEL –
These are the best sounding headphones I have owned to date, very smooth in the entire musical range, bass could be a little better overall a great headphone. N,LITTLES
James –
Very disappointedThese are first open back headphones I bought. I got them to use with my digital piano but the frequency response is really skewed to bass and highs, no crisp midrange
Charles –
Great headphones at this price point. Imo, they sound as good as more expensive models Ive tried. I particularly like the comfortable fit. Many headphones have been uncomfortable for me after 30 minutes or so. Not these, I can wear them as long as I want. They look great too
shoisfast –
I have owned the HD600 and sold them because they are completely flat and have really Terrible Highs and Lows when comparing them To the HD650 or The new HD660s. And I was never impressed by the HD598 but this being the replacement they have improved the Sound Stage and put Better Highs and much punchier Bass which in my opinion other than status the 599 is the one to buy unless you can afford the HD650 not to say that the 600 does not have its fans but unless you have a hearing problem which makes the increase in fidelity of the the ,,650s a moot point or if the only genre you listen to is boring chamber music buy the 599 untill you can afford the 650
larrwolfo –
I have owned a ton of headphones since 1985 ,when i bought my first Sony MDR6V2s. I have since owned many fine phones ,including Beyerdynamic DT 880. AKG 701. Sennheiser HD558, ATH M50 All fine phones . But the Sennhioeser HD 599 is slightly betterAnd I really liked them a tad better than the HD 650 as a matter of personal taste. They are a bargain , and many have found them to be only a nickels worth under the phones you can purchase at any exorbitant price. Very refined midrange for classical listeners too.
bgaynorus –
I generally hate headphones but need them sometimes. Before these, skullcandy earbuds were my best hope. Maybe its the open back combined with the sound quality but these are my favorite headphones so far.
bruce –
1. The phones cost 500. I have K712s that are so much higher in quality and only cost 300. These phones boost the bass frequencies far too much. 2. The fit is too tight and my head is normal in size. I am a professional audio engineer and just had my hearing checked this past October. Still in great shape.
nelat24 –
This is my second pair as I liked the 1st pair so much. For the price they are comfy and the sound is good . Another thing I like is the ear pads…They dont flake away ,which has happened to me with more expensive headphones Recommended.
Robert B –
This set of headphones is awesome, theyre comfortable, perform well. Sound clarity is great for gaming and music. Definitely recommend. Only complaint is that it didnt come with a standard 3.5mm jack and if your cable goes bad you have to get one from the manufacturer because it has a twist lock function to disconnect the cable from the headset.
KymT5 –
These are excellent. I have Apple Music which is now lossless and higher bit rate. By plugging these into the Apple lightning to audio jack dongle which has a built in DAC, wow what a difference. I wanted good quality open backed headphones at a great price to experience the audio difference and these fit the bill perfectly as a starting point. Highly recommend.
Hunter –
Really happy with the audio from these headphones. I was skeptical at first due to the price but decided to go for it. Really impressed with them The highs and mids are very clear and the bass is there some reviews say there isnt any. Worth buying.
Roy Driver –
I bought Sennheiser 660S and there are brilliant ,wide soundrange , so detailed and full spectrum strong bass to clear highs. Have Sennheiser HD 598 before and HD 595 for bedroom listening , the 660S is far better and worth the extra ,if you only buy one pair get the 660S.
Joe –
Really like these cans the sound is great. I use them while recording various tracks. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because they kinda squeeze my head and I have to take them off after a while. Unless there is a way to adjust the hugging pressure but I have not figured that out.
CHRISTOPHER –
These headphones are incredible. If you are trying to get into truly listening to music the way it should be listened to, then buy these. I recommend using lossless audio files. It makes these headphones even better
Shikhar B. –
Have been using these for around a week. The sound out of the box was a bit bassheavy for my liking, applied a quick eq preset to suppress the lows and boost the highs a bit and it becomes a lot better. The soundstage and separation is definitely much better than any closed back I have tried. I play CSGO on the regular and can definitely say these are better than my QC35 ii at accurately locating enemies. I enjoyed listening to music on these. Due to the overpowering bass, things can sometimes get muddy, but overall I think the enhanced positional separation makes things sound good. Good headphone overall imo, recommended. PS Make sure you buy a 14 to 3.5mm adapter with this, this does not come with a 3.5mm cable.
duranmex11 –
Excellent headohones to use along your home theater which are what are made for…not so much for music. The bass in this headphones is very heavy which is not great for music with lots of instrumentation such as guitar sounding not very clear bc the bass overshadows it. That qualities are great for movies not so much for music. P.D The cable comes with an 6.35 mm jack connector not 3.5mm.
ivetex –
Amazing headphone. So light and perfect sound for me. I upgraded from a Superlux and the clearer, crisp sound is just astonishing. Love it.
pdoherty2008 –
I use these headphones with my Johannus organ and the sound is superb. They are just what I wanted, first class. The sound is clear and well defined, with a flat response across the frequency range.
Patrick –
These are great sounding headphones, very clear and tight, they also sound really nice when connected to my portable Sony high resolution player
Anonymous –
bought these purely for fps competitive gaming and they dont disappoint. the imaging on these are perfect and comfort is among the best. Tried more expensive headphones in store but found these the best. Although i will be getting the audeze lcdgx for a more fun sound for casual gaming.
sejba0 –
1. Sound Quality is Good 2. But My ear outside is painful Pressure 3. weight is so so..
Frank –
I decided to purchase these headphones because the sales associate told me that the headphones were Bluetooth, According to the model description on his tablet. That is totally untrue The headset is a wired headsetTotally disappointed Not only with the headphones, but the sales associates NFMs information.
Steve and Janice –
I was actually going to purchase Grado SR325e to upgrade my old Grado80,s but went with Ed from Richer Sounds suggestion of the Sennheiser HD660S headphones.O M G these are phenomenal.Treble is exceptional and Mid and Bass are crisp and transparent.Massive Thank you to Ed at Prestwich Store.
slroaming –
Very comfortable. Broad sound stage. Bass is a little punchy. Not the lightest cans but the earpads and the headband are very well padded so wearing it all day WFH with hours long teleconference is no problem. Needs an amp or a decent sound card to bring out the details. Regular laptops and their docking stations probably will not do.
John –
Ive owned a lot of high end headphones and while this say cannot compete with HD800S it is quite enjoyable for jazz. It has more transparency than HD650 and more warmth body than HD600. I wouldnt say more resolving, but on par with those two. Five stars for the price range. Its not better than my HD800S or Ether Flow, but in the same realm as other top performers in the 400500 range. Probably should be priced at about 399.95. Maybe in a year.
Richard –
I have been a fan of Sennheiser since purchasing the HD414 and have owned a variety of brands…even electrostatics. Realizing that everyone has a unique take on sound quality and what is importantand all the intricacies involved, I will say these are the most staged and present headphones. The accuracy of sound is revealing. You will be hearing the difference in recording various musical compositions…especially when listening to selections on YouTube. Time will float by and you will not realize you are wearing this headset. The build quality is great. The comfort of the ear seals great. I have no complaintspossibly some of the stereo reviewers will couch their reviews like wine experts giving you the origin of the grape however, like most of us, we want to take our new headphones out of the box and listen to quality. You will not be disappointed at this price point. Hopping up to the 1000 headset will not be significant…but, like I said before…age and what you hear makes the difference…this is an accurate producer of sound. If you would like to change the sound buy the amp and equalizer and avoid more expense by purchasing a more costly headset which will not significantly improve this one.
Alexander –
Made the choice to invest in a sold reputable brand with sights on experiencing something that enhances my daily listening. Great product would recommended this to anyone looking for their first.
Richard –
Having owned a lot of stereo headphones over the many years of equipment ownership, these have proven to be very accurate and have a great sound reproduction quality. The construction is excellent. The comfort level of wearing them over an extended period of time, the headband fit, and the type of ear seal provided will give you many years of enjoyment. At this price point I do not feel you can do much better. I know there are headsets costing three to four times the price…however, these produce quality soundand given the sound differences involved in listening from youtube, produced CDs, vinyl recordings, and other sound mediums, it is a tough call to tell others whether the tonal quality of these will meet your expectations. Listening over the years to electrostatics, high end headphones from a variety of manufacturers, and tons of speakers I will have to award these to the top ten.
Guest –
These headphones not only look good, they are also very comfortable to wear for long periods. I have owned a pair of Sennheiser 530 II for 26 years so I know they would be good. Very pleased with the sound quality on the HD 599s. Yes, they are expensive but I think they are worth it. Highly recommended.
Sammy –
The quality of construction is high. The comfort, about average the big disappointment was sound quality. Better than Beats unless you like a bassheavy sound but not what Id expected from Sennheiser. Didnt come with a jack adapter either which seemed miserly for this level of product unless they dont intend it to be used with mobile devices.
BuckStrickland –
I bought these during the last drop and Im very satisfied. The price could have been lower, Ive seen these go for 150 occasionally on amazon. I use them primarily for gaming valorant and Tarkov where hearing is absolutely vital. I would have died many more times than I have if I didnt have this headset.
Paul M. –

Ive gone through so many headphones over the last decade from 300 noise cancelling inear bose to budget skullcandy, to countless apple and apple knockoffs, airpods, 4 different wireless RF blutooth headphones for watching tv, at least a dozen budget airline sets, 2 athletic blutooth sets and 3 different gamingspeaker headsets… these Sennheisers are by far my favorite of any Ive ever purchased and the first where I was 100 happy about the purchase. They are not an earphone quiver killer.. they wouldnt be great for sports or even walking around at least for me.. too bulky for my style, but they give me the best sound quality Ive ever heard in headphones without making my ears tired or feeling any pressure. I use these primarily with my TV at night and now daytime too when Im the only one watching.. I just like how they sound more than the speakers I have on my TV… the sound is glorious, theyre the most comfortable Ive ever worn and theyre extremely stylish imo. Really couldnt be happier and Im tempted to buy and store another pair of these just so I know I have them should my current ones ever start breaking down.

Solid sound quality, crisp details and very comfortable for long periods of listening to music. Might perform even better with an amp. For this price range they are good headphones in terms of entry level audiophile headphones. The only reason i am not giving five stars is because they are a little weaker with bass but vocals are great, very nice to listen to classical music as well because you will hear the details of each instrument. The spatial sound stage is average, maybe could be better bur for this price range it seems good enough.

These headphones deliver incredibly high qualityor audiophilelevelsound to ones ears. They are seamless with the toptobottom frequency range. Dynamics are very good as well. In order to achieve these things, they must be used with very high quality equipment.

This is my first open backed headphones and I have to say that the quality of sound its in another level, I tried it with lossless files on my pc and its sounds fantastic
Gerson –
The sound quality is impeccable, and the headphones is very comfortable. Looks like well constructed besides the plastic. For being open back, is not recommended its use at public or loud places

My HD 428 were awesome. My upgrade to the HD 559 is even better. The only way I can describe the sound is that the highs and lows are clearer and softer. Great Base sound. Cant beat the price for this kind of sound. My whole music world is with headphones so it has to be great.

I cant say enough good things about these headphones. Superb frequency range, not too bassy, just the right amount, plus good mids and highs. Very comfortable, I had no fatigue after listening to the entirety of two albums. And they look pretty snazzy as well. I love the brown and cream color scheme Im very happy with my purchase plus I got a great deal from World Wide Stereo as always

Very comfortable. This is my first open back headphones and Im really enjoying them. They allow me to hear my drums and music at the same time.Adorama did an excellent job shipping fast and backup support is great

Great set of open back headphones. Purchased these because I already have a set of HD558s and wanted another set for someone else in my household. These HD559s sound pretty similar to me. I wanted the open back so the user would be able to hear ambient sounds while using the headphones this feature works perfectly.

Once again thanks to Headphone Zone. Loving this very much. More clarity after 6 months. Great Head Phones SENHEISER. What a natural Sound. If you got a proper DAC AMP it will be more fun with natural instrumental sounds and thumpy Bass not much but enjoyable. Worth the Headphones.

This is an outstanding product. For me it is very comfortable right out of the box. The sound is terrific. The only thing I did was put a little red tape of the right input . . . I am a septuagenarian and, though the phones and lines are marked, black raised lettering on a black background is a little hard to see. I uses this with Schiit equipment Asgard, Bifrst and Vidar and have been very pleased.

Amazing pair of headphones, without a doubt would definitely recommend to anyone. Great fit, comfortable, and the sound quality is immaculate

Great Headphone for the money I do not think there is a better bargain out there. Works great with a Cocktail Audio X 45, but when run through Schiit Audio Valhalla 2 headphone amp it enters a whole new arena. High End for 1000.00 with remarkable resolution, fit and comfort and a couple of times I had to take my phones off to make sure that my Vandersteen speakers were not playing, the soundstage is just that good Buy these headphones you will not regret it

I love the sound from these but when wearing them I notice a lot of sound of what seems like parts of the headphones tapping into each other. This sound is really distracting as a allday headphone. When I want to sit and listen to music though I grab this pair though

Superb high definition headphones for a good price. I have been impressed by the sound quality and comfort in wearing of these headphones. Minidisc offered the best price and dispatched very quickly.

The headphones are excellent. I previously owned the HD 650. These are just as comfortable, yet the sound has a significant improvement. I received a preowned set. The listing does not display condition so I was caught off guard by this. The packaging was not in the best condition however the headphones themselves were fine.

The sound of these headphones suits what I use them for, but the the ear cups fit completely around my ears, making them very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. These are as good or better than I expected, which is always nice.

These are awesome in every sense of the word. I have owned a very wide range of headphones and could be considered a collector. Current pairs include HD580, HD650, HD599, DT880 Pro, DT770 80 ohm, AKG K712 Pro, Philips SHP9500, Fostex T50RP Mk3. Running a Schiit Modi Multibit DAC and a Schiit Asgard 2 amp. My first somewhat HiFi headphones were the HD598s years ago. They were very underwhelming for me at the time, and I sold them for some more exciting Beyerdynamic headphones. Over time my tastes got more refined and I revisited the HD598 in its newer brother, the HD599. I LOVED them instantly, and going back to the 598s borrowed from a friend, finally loved those too. My friend with the HD598s loved the HD599s as well and offered to buy them from me. So I cut him a deal. However I ended up missing the HD599s so badly that I bought another pair, lol. HD598, HD599, HD599. I cant get rid of these things, haha. I fell in love with the HD599 very quickly. To me they are every bit the equal to the HD580 and HD650 in my collection. Kind of differently tuned, soundstaged and voiced, but similar overall ability. Definitely not flat. More of a shallow V shape like the HD650s but with more mid presence and smoother treble. They have less peaky treble than the HD598s despite even moreextension, and their mids are absolute perfection. Despite definitely having the Sennheiser Veil these headphones do a stunning job rendering detail. The more extended treble mixed with the veil creates an amazingly smooth response. Super pleasant to the ears. Bass is likewise noticeably improved from the HD598 with better dynamics and a little stronger punch. Build quality is also better than the HD598 and they are just a little bit more solid with a better headband. The cups are super wide and fit perfectly on my ears and the wide angled drivers mean they have a much wider and more active soundstage than the HD6xx series. Not artificially massive but spacious with great dynamics and imaging. They are also dead easy to power so most phones, sound cards, and PC headphone jacks will do a pretty good job running them. That said they really benefit from an amp, as they have impedance spikes through out their range up to 300 ohms. Superior comfort and nearly perfect sound mean these headphones punch far above their weight. For me they totally replace the HD650 as the exciting Sennheiser in my collection while the HD580 keeps its spot as the boring reference Sennheiser. Will be selling the HD650s. Thats how good the HD599s are for me. For the prices these can be got for ondiscount there is no reason to look further than these headphones for most people. They offer performance nearly on par with a lot of higher end dynamic headphones, and have awesome tuning. I cant recommend these enough, and see them as an equal to the more expensive headphones in my collection. The HD599 is a perfect refinement of the classic HD598 with all the right boxes ticked. Get a pair now.

The headset comes with two different cables, and one of them is perfect for portable audio player. This headset works perfectly with OnePlus N10 which has 24bit192kHz audio chip for headphones jack. The headset has more than enough sensitivity to play various kind of music, and voice when talking is also clear. However, the headset is big, and since its open back design, sound leaking is obvious and it works best for home use, but this headset is pretty comfortable to wear over hours even with my big skull. You may wonder why I call it headset I purchased third party cable with microphone to add calling capability.

Very good set of headphones with a amazing soundstage. You really dont know youre missing out until you try them.

For classical music listening these are the best that I have ever used. I hear things that I have never noticed before. Because they are open backed my ears do not get hot at all. I would buy them again in a heartbeat.
salanna2623 –
Awesome go to headphones Very strong midrange and clear in all areas. I have other headphones that have more dynamic range but it depends on how I feel like listening to my music at the time and these never disappoint

I bought this about 2 weeks ago and Im very happy with it. It pairs very well with the chord mojo. There was a problem with the billing address, I called up and they helped. Always happy with the service at richer sounds.

I am hearing a new level of clarity from my CDs and FLAC Files mainly Classical. What more can I say they are every bit as good as claimed. No problem hooking them up to my Yamaha Amplifier.
