You could get faster, bigger GB , smaller drives but they will cost you. I use mine in a DVR and it catches 1080P without a glitch. I first tried a 256 GB thumb drive that was a bit slower and it couldnt cut it.

Good product. Even includes an encryption program.

I am at a loss to explain the variations in the benchmark results that I obtained above, versus SanDisks claimed upto bandwidth specifications. I checked their website and could find no explanation as to the test equipmentmethods that they used to obtain their specs with. But my results mirror the benchmark results obtained by other testers on the Internet. I regularly obtain sequential reads on my Samsung 840 Series SSD of 539 MBs Read and 135 MBs Write, so I know my system can handle the higher data bandwidth rates in the ranges SanDisk claims for this device. Under real world testing though, such as my DVD copy test experience above, this flash drive does perform extremely well on both USB 2.0 and 3.0 connections. Another observation was that each time I repeated the various benchmarks, the SanDisk flash drive got a wee bit slower on the results. Could this be the effects of TRIM fragmentation Overall this is an extremely fast USB 3.0 flash drive. I conducted the same MP3 copy test from the my SSD hard drive folder to a smaller 32 GB USB 3.0 flash drive I own and it took a pathetic 18 minutes and 15 seconds to complete the same copy job. I am forever corrupted now. Thanks SandDisk Note I did not use the encryption software during any of my benchmark testing. The SecureAccess software was easy to setup and use though. Encryption does add some CPU processing overhead, so it will decrease the performance slightly. I think if you are into video editing, high resolution photo editing, or have a need to work with large data sets, that you need to transfer between work and home, or customer sites and the office, then this flash drive is made for you. If your time is worth money, then this drive will quickly pay for itself in the time it saves you in transferring large data sets. Highly recommended if you need a capacious and very fast USB 3.0 flash drive. In my experience, this flash drive forever raises the benchmark level for all other portable flash drives. I could not award it less than 5 eggs.

I use these for music files flac and MP3 mostly. I have three of these things. So far, so good and no issues. It will get warm during large file transfers, but that is expected. File transfers can be speedy, but make sure the connection to the computer is 3.0 rated including cables. Unless you need the security of a scrambled file, skip the Secure Access stuff, as the feature slows down file transfers. Secure access also prevents simple copy andor drag FROM the drive to a computer. Also, sometimes access to the USB port can be an issue due to width, but that is a common issue with these types of products in my experience. And, due to the open construction of the USB, pocket carry seems rash I carry mine in a sleeve or in the case I carry my DAP in in view of lint getting in. Overall, I like the product.

Firstly, this is my initial review without much testing. I find this usb drive very quick, my previous usb drive was usb 3 but it was a long time several years since i bought it so it is a significant upgrade for myself. I wanted fast transfers for lots of small files and this seems to do quite well. I like the metal casing of this usb drive, it feels well built. Only time will tell how good the sliding mechanism will last but it feels ok. I still find the price a little high for what i am getting but then again it is one of Sandisks higher end usb drives and all of my Sandisk products have always been very reliable.
Brian M. –
You just need to ask yourself if the extra speed, particularly in the amazing write speeds, is worth it to you. A typical USB 3.0 flash drive offers speeds around 50 of what this SanDisk drive is capable of. If you need a portable way to transfer large files frequently, this drive is your best bet.
undead44 –
The transfer speed of the thumb drive is very fast.
binhyl5nouqg –
Generally good enough and Ill have to use it for a longer time to be able to say its reliability. However a couple of negative things Ive already noticed are 1. Its edge of key ring end is too shape to handle comfortably. 2. It gets very warm heated only after a few minutes of using it. I think its similar speed to USB 3.0, not as fast as described.

The Extreme range of Sandisk flash drives is quite fast providing it is used with a USB3.0 interface. I get around 85100MBs transfer rate which is faster than internal HDDtoHDD transfer. That said, you should avoid the Ultra range, I have one of these and the transfer rate is no faster than using USB2.0

Pros Does everything you expect. Fast data transfer for video.Cons Feels cheap to hold. Slips out if your grasp. Performance not matched by physical build design. Needs a more substantial case with some grip to it.

SanDisk has proven itself to me over the years to provide highquality, reliable memory storage products that always do exactly what theyre intended to do.No exception here. This memory stick is attractive, easy to format for Macintosh use, and very fast. The 64 GB capacity is nice to have for compact carryanywhere storage media.
Vitaly B. –
Sandisk should it improve its quality control. The same applies to SanDisk SDHC and SDXC memory cards which very greatly in their Write Performance
pagri12 –
This is most likely the fastest UDB memory stick on the market today. In my Mac in shows sustained read speed 380 MBsec and write speed 350 MBsec in Blackmagic speed test tool. It takes just 23 munutes to copy 50GB of files to or from the stick. This is faster than many SSDs. For example SanDisk Ultra 120GB SSD only keeps high write speed for first 56GB, then it drops to below 50 MBsec level.
Samuel –
Very fast drive, much, much faster than any other flash drives Ive ever had, especially when writing. Will have to wait and see about long term durability. One negative is the drive could have been made a little smaller, it is on the larger side.
Christopher D. –
You can not go wrong with this device if you need large portable storage that is fast and reliable. They key here is fast, because if you do not require the speed that this USB stick provides than its likely too expensive of an option for you.
Becka –
Pros Bought when on offer. Would not represent good value at RRPCons Size very big considering capacity
Daniel E. –
I transferred 4GB of music files from my SSD to this Flash Drive, it took 36 seconds, and a few of the music files were 30 minutes long, the rest were normal length. Although slower than spec, it does not get hot as some have reported, possibly due in part because there is an exhaust fan in my medium tower case adjacent to the SanDisk Extreme Pro, and the Pro is running at a slower than spec speed.
John –
It works fine but there are other choices which are much less expensive.
Ian –
Great flash drive. Easy to handle, compact and I can download videos in excess of 4gb without any problems. Great for backing up your files. Fast with plenty of storage space. Highly recommended.

Outstanding USB drive by San Disk Made a Windows Image Backup of 43GB after reformatting drive to NTFS which took less than 10 minutes in a 3.0 USB. Drive got slightly warm but not hot which I find to be a great thing with this Extreme Pro Cruzer. I would definitely purchase this drive again and San Disk are my go to USB drives from now on
Eric J. –
Storage is storage but this drive isnt built like the other cheap drives that Ive used. Solid metal like the earlier SanDisk flash drives.
Matthew C. –
Ive been very happy with this flash drive and have had zero problems with its functionality aside from occasionally not being able to insert it due to its large body but this is remedied by using a USB extension cable. The drive works with my smart TV and with my router like its supposed to. Built very sturdy as I carried it in my pocket full of keys and change for most of a month and its only suffered minor scratches. Ive also dropped it and upon trying to catch it actually flung it into the concrete floor at work accidentally while I watched in horror as it bounced. To my surprise it came out unscathed and remains fully functional. Im giving it 5 eggs because its proved very sturdy and fast with plenty of storage. The price is out in the open and as with any new tech you always have to pay a premium for it when its new. Ive never had a problem with a SanDisk drive and I have some very old ones.
William –
Very pleased with this flash drive. Never had a problem with SanDisk

I will bottom line this. I have used plenty of USB drives in the past this one blows them all away My SSD drive is very fast and this little stick keeps pace. Transferring files from PC to Notebook 240mbs is completely awesome. It is fast and reliable. The cost is well worth the investment when time is a factor. I will not use anything less than these beauties. Saves me the frustration having to wait for slower units to complete.

This device is a great asset for anyone who likes to carry large amounts of datafiles with them. If you only have a little bit of datafiles to carry around with you, I would recommend just getting the free cloud services offered by Google, Microsoft, Dropboxetc and manage your files on the cloud instead. I personally like the device as I can take it anywhere with me and have my movies and music with me. The speed it offers is great as you are not sitting for hours on end waiting for files to transfer to the device. I would recommend this device to my brothers in the IT world to carry data files around or someone who has a large collection of music and movies their collection that wants to be able to access those on the go.

As long as you not have extremely large data quantities to copy or move, this 128GB USB3.1 USBstick is very useful since it reads stores data fairly quick.

Some will like that there is encryption software included and others will call it bloatware. Its not bad software so Im not going to call this a pro or a con. I say this makes the most sense for someone who works with large files at the office and at home or on the road.

Everything that SanDisk boasts about this drive actually true. The sequential Read according to CrystalDiskMark V5.1.2 was 268.016MBs The sequential Write according to CrystalDiskMark V5.1.2 was 248.079MBs At these speeds you could copy over a 3GB movie to and from the USB in under 14 seconds The Random 4K Read according to CrystalDiskMark V5.1.2 was 10.066MBs The Random 4K Write according to CrystalDiskMark V5.1.2 was 11.532MBs For those of you who dont know what 4K means its a 4KB file copied or read over and over again, and this is where most USB flash drives perform pathetically speeds of about 0.050MBs read and write in most cases. So in turns of 4K this drive performs really and I mean REALLY good. Ive tested many drives that claim to be high end and pretty much either fail or perform like a dog when it comes to 4K tests. 4K is important as if you wanted to copy over a game for example that was 138MB and made up of 2000 files, it could take this drive about 14 10 seconds to copy over the files whereas others could take 2 3 minutes As far as aesthetics go it is really nice, it has a great slider feature that works well, it doesnt retract when you go to plug it in which is great, Ive tested slider USBs that retract when you plug them in, its really annoying. It can be put on a keying, and has a nice aluminum case that gives it a sturdy build. You also receive the secure access software that allows you to encrypt a folder where you can store all your files, it gives you a 1 year free subscription to Rescue Pro, which can apparently recover your files if needed, I havent tested this. This USB also comes with a Lifetime warranty so replacement is easy should the drive fail or break. Overall, performance, aesthetics and extras in mind, this USB drive is your best option for a 128GB USB and really good value for money 0.73 per GB for this listing. Also, this drive is by far the best option for under 100 ever. if your willing to pay more than 100, you dont have to, trust me

The Sandisk Extreme Pro has the fastest load and save times I have ever seen of any flash drivesOther Flash Drives load and save fast, but come to a crawl when running a program from the Flash Drive.Noteworthy is the execution speed if you test or use other operating systems like Linux and so forth. For example Easy 2 Boot with multiple isos.Using an emulator, like WinVice C64 under Linux runs almost full speed like an installed system. If you use clonezilla, restore Windows in as little as 15 minutes. using USB 3.0 card.Using Windows 7 64 bit on a HP 500b Mini tower.Even works fast with USB 2.0 port.
austrader999 –
Very fast even on usb 3.0. Results of usb 3.0 sequential speed test was a consistant 265 read 196 write. Could not test usb 3.1 as i do not have that function on my pc. Very impressed so far, as i have been pinched with my older sandisk extreme pro usb 3.0 128gb. Highly recommended product.

I bought this after being seriously disappointed with read and write speeds on virtually everything else. I tended to opt for a cheap high volume alternative with sticks and cards but these days I do a fair amount of exchanging project footageaudio in one go onto someone elses laptop or system. And its embarrassing when it starts reasonably fast then slows to 2mbs and you may as well put the kettle on. All that changed with this beauty. Considering Im using a 6 year Thinkpad, I never thought Id see speeds in excess of 300mbs on data transfer. Without even using the USB3 ports on the docking station. The next stick I buy will probably be the 256GB one. Couldnt recommend it more highly

Newegg sent me this for review. Using a USB 3.0 port on a Lenovo Y500 laptop i ran some speed tests. The laptop has Core i5 2.6GHz 6GB DDR3 RAM Crucial M500 256GB SSD Windows 8.1. Sandisk Secure Access file encryption was not enabled for these tests. ATTO benchmark Max. Seq. ReadWrite 264MB232MB per sec. CrystalDiskMark Seq. ReadWrite 256MB241MB per sec. 4K ReadWrite 9.1MB10.8MB per sec. These results are outstanding, and the 4K random speeds are LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF THE COMPETITION File transfers below were done with Windows Explorer and a stopwatch. Here you can see the time needed to copytransfer various kinds of files in a realworld situation. WRITE SPEED Sandisk Extreme Pro USB 3.0 Flashdrive in default FAT32 format Text Files Total 6.25MB 1600 files 4kb each Copy from SSD to SANDISK 17 sec. approx. 0.37MBsec. Movie Total size 32.7GB one file Copy from SANDISK to SSD 3 min. 04 sec. approx. 182MBsec. Using a USB 2.0 port this drive achieved the usual max. readwrite speeds of around 32MBsec. So, copying files onto the Extreme Pro will still be fast compared to most flashdrives. The drive gets warm but not hot when working hard. If you have a need for speed the Sandisk Extreme Pro provides the full RazzleDazzle

I purchased this unit to quickly store large document archivesscans. It has worked very well. It also seems to work well as Windows extra computer memory. So far, no problems at all.

I ran this drive through the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test using a MacBook Pro Retina 15. Im getting consistent write speeds of 145 MBs and read speeds of 195 MBs. It is definitely fast enough that I use it as a boot drive so I can run disk maintenance software on the HD of my MacBook Pro.The only con I can think of is the width of the housing. It is slightly wider than a standard USB cable male end. If your ports are really close together, you may not be able to plug multiple items in along side of it.

Works as advertised. Use one as a windows 10 install usb drive, the other for portable file transfers. In both cases the drives are fast and easy to use. much recommended.
Ashley H. –
This drive is average sized compared to other flash drives and is very light weight aluminium construction but still feels solid. The USB interface is retractable that feels spring loaded making it easy to retractable and detract. It has the standard loop on one end for a lanyard or keychain. The blue activity LED is very dim and is only visible when looking directly down on the stick. I tested the USB stick on both Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs with USB3. Both systems show the drive as 119GB formatted by fat32. On Windows 8 it shows as removable storage so applications that specifically look for USB drives should work with this drive. I had no other USB3 thumb drives to compare this angainst but compared to my USB3 1TB drive it is about double the speed. The average speeds I achieved with this drive from both systems were very impressive. The average over 5 tests for 1000MB, 4000MB, and 50MB files are as follows. 4000MB 247MBs read and 232MBs write 1000MB 244.1MBs read and 225.3MBs write 50MB 244.8MBs read and 213.7MBs write Additionally, when be continuously used for about 10 minutes the drive became unconfortably hot to handle. It never reach hot enough to burn but it was too hot for me to want to hold in my hand or pants pockets immediately after using the drive. This drives performance is amazing and its design is solid. The only major downside I had is the heat generated.
georgesk12345 –
This is a very fast USB. On my 3rd generation i7 using electronic timing to copy an ISO file from my RAM drive to that USB, the rate was 207 MBSec. Fast when copying lots of tiny files as well. Well worth the extra money if you wantneed a fast USB.
Aaron D. –
The bloatware is not worth deducting an egg over, as all you have to do is just delete the bloat from the drive, but to think that Sandisk and other companies actually spend money on these kinds of endeavors is just disappointing. Surely they could knock off 10 on these expensive drives not paying encryptstick If you want or need good encryption, you likely already have it. If you are needing to purchase the fastest high capacity 100GB USB flash drive on the market today, you just cant go wrong here. Anyone needing larger capacities without the extreme portability that this drive offers via keychain loop would obviously be looking at USB3 external drives.

I needed a fast stick to quickly transfer large 4K movies onto, and this thing is fast. I have a few 64Gb Sandisk Extremes, and they are pretty quick, in most cases, but this is faster of course bigger. And Im only using USB 3.0, so it might even be faster on 3.1. Nice

Speeds will vary based on the USB3 chipset its attached to, although this is relatively par for most USB3 devices They all seem to have different preferences for chipsets. Testing compressible data via the ATTO Benchmark utility, my best case scenario was 196189 with the ASMedia chipset. Worst case was 142128 with the FrescoLogic FL1000 series. Testing incompressible data via the ASSSD utility resulted in a best case of 187184. Worst case showed 133119. Dimensions 78 x 21316 The SecureAccess software is usablefunctional. The first time you run it, youll be prompted to create a password as simple or complex as you like. Youll also be given the opportunity to set a hint phrase. The software allows you to set the max number of attempts before forcing a timeout, and how long that timeout lasts. It also allows you to set the password expiration date. One thing to note is that without the SecureAccess executable 7MB available, the encrypted file is worthless. So you either need to leave it on the stick or plan on downloading the software on the host PC. For me, this unit ranks a 4 out of 5 eggs because its a tad bit pricey and didnt attain SanDisks quoted specs, although it was still well within the USB3 territory. Looking at the list of CONS, its pretty short. The includedavailable encryption software is a nice addition and it works, but I think that anyone concerned about data security will already have a solution they plan to implement. But if not, its there for you and its pretty easy to use. Heres my biggest issue with these high capacity USB3 sticks… The only reason I see for requiring the stick format is for ultimate portability tiny, no cables, toss it in any pocket, and go. Otherwise, could get a SanDisk SSD such as the X210 110, Ultra Plus 95, X110 100, or the Extreme II 110 and a nice pocketable, selfpowered USB3 2.5 external case 25. And youll still have some cash left over Not to mention youll have a better chance of hitting higher speeds across the board. Fastest usb flash I have tested. Its at least 4x as fast as Samsung Fit Plus 256GB in write speed. But compared to my past gen Extreme 64GB not Extreme Pro its about 1015 faster in transferring large files, but for small files the difference is just a few . Flash drives were connected to USB3.0 ports, maybe the difference would be bigger if connected in 3.1 but I doubt it, since while transfering large files Extreme Pro has spikes of 340MBs but 99 of the time the speeds are 200240MBs. I also noticed that sliding mechanism is better on my previous gen Sandisk drive. This one has smaller notch which your finger has to grab to slide the mechanism, cause the rest of the surface is very slippery. Would I recommend this drive. Yes I would. But if you want the fast drive with better value I would suggest going with Extreme Go which is 30 cheaper. If it is fast as its previous model Extreme USB 3.0 that is best buy.

I purchased the SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive to copy files from one computer to another and, to utilize as a easily portable backup. It is sturdy, lightweight, compact, downloads and uploads quickly, and is reasonably priced.I highly recommend this item.
magnarider2012 –
This is a very fast and sturdy, well constructed USB drive. I can tell the difference between my USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 drives when using them.
bl1ndspot –
Ive compared it to several other USB 3.0 drives and this one beats it hands down. Its a little longer than some of the other smaller drives, so it sticks out, but I knew that when I bought it. Works great as a live Linux bootable USB drive.
kelemenkornel –
pro Incredible fast both to write and read perfect choice for a Raspberry Pi 4 b contra a bit bulky, not too easy to plug anything next to it to the other 3.1 USB port quite expensive for a lowpriced computer
Anonymous –
extremely fast and solid built. Best usb stick ever used
phaedra2008 –
Only had this for a couple of weeks but if youre frustrated by how long it takes to load large files onto slow USB12 or run of the mill USB3 stick this is the one to get. Its as fast as most external HDDs. Into a genuine USB3 hub a 4GB file takes under 10 seconds depending on the host computers CPU duty at the time. This is what alls USB3 memory stick should be Highly recommended.
odysseahadjistephano0 –
I have been using the SanDisk USBs for many years now. The last one I bought and using for a mont is the EXTREME PRO 128gb. It is extremely fast and reliable and I believe I will leave with its company for the coming years without any problems as was the case with my previous one which was the EXTREME PRO 32gb. Two things against it is its very very high pricing and its security features which, personally, I dont need.
Carol C. –
If you want to copy a movie thats over 4GB, you wont be able to because the thumb drive is formatted FAT32. I suppose all thumb drives come this way. To fix this, just reformat the drive to NTFS. Make sure to move all the files from the thumb drive first. Using ATTO Disk Benchmark, plugged into USB 2.0, the average read speed is 33MBps, write speed is 24MBps. Plugged into USB 3.0, the average read and write speeds are 180MBps. Average speed of copying 34GB of files on USB 3.0 is 70MBps.

Such a great disc Highly recommended And … great shop

After 1 hour watching 4k movie, it starts to become slow and playing with delays. IF not watching from Flash anywat it becomes very hot. But quite fast copying speed
James –
Pros Very fast usb3 stick. I use it to run a live OS.
Adriel –
I get 209 MBs write and 239 MBs read on my 1 year old Macbook Pro.
uksteves06ynot –
I get 240MB reads 115MB writes in a USB 3.0 port while transferring to and from an SDD. Works great as a WinPE 10 boot disk. Hope to convince boss to get some more to hand out to rest of IT dept

After doing my homework, I chose to purchase this one because it actually takes full advantage of USB 3.0s potential. Many other drives labelled 3.0 actually run as slow as 2.0 drivesor worse. I am very happy with my choice so far.
Maria –
Price, performance, style, everything is perfect about this device, shoudl you need a flash drive, this is your choice, no competition exists.
artstares –
There are many sticks out there which claim to support USB3.0 but then exhibit speeds not much better than USB2.0. If you want to realise the full potential with Sandisks range, you need to get your hands on their Extreme Pro series. Otherwise, their Ultra series and whatnot will disappoint you, guaranteed.
tdanyleyko –
THE BEST USB stick I have ever seen. Even fast on USB 2 ports. Beats out all the cheaper ones Ive owned in the past. And one of the most reliable. Always works.
kickeymojak –
The fastest storage device I own until I get my grubby little fingers on the Sandisk Portable SSD. Solid and reliable drive that I use for storing music. I had an older iteration of the extreme drive with the retractable mechanism. The mechanism broke after about a year. Lets hope this doesnt.
rockya –
Simply amazing
Bruce L. –
The included software was thoughtful, but totally useless and really slowed down the system during downloads. The 128Bit AES encryption is nice to have if you need it, but it can be broken into. This is by far the fastest USB drive I have and double the size of most of them. If you are looking for a USB drive for photos, 3D printer files and video, then this is the drive for you. If you have run out of room on your XBOX, then this drive will allow you to play games without a lag or pause. Delete the added encryption software and you have more space. The drive was about 40 slower when used in a 2.0.
dratko –
Awesome USB flash drive, very fast, speed as declared in the specs and also very reliable.
petero1242 –
I copy things to my flash drive when I need to transfer data from one computer to another. I also use it to back up my most important data. This is in addition to my normal backup. Thus, I need as high speed as possible. The Sandisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1 satisfies my requirements in this regard. With lifetime warranty, it should be fairly safe for backup. I have used it for a month without any problems, and it is just as fast as it was on the first day.
ROBERT B. –
This is the third SanDisk Extreme drive that Ive bought and all three have been reliable and excellent performers. I use the one under review to back up disk images on a laptop. Initially I ran into a problem with my disk imaging software not allowing writes to the flash drive. After a week of contacting the computer manufacturer, the backup software company, and SanDisk, the problem turned out to be a corrupt Cdrive. Although nothing at all was wrong with the 128GB Extreme Pro flash drive, SanDisk tech and service departments spent hours of trouble shooting time with me on the phone. They finally offered to replace the drive free shipping both ways but that became unnecessary once I discovered that the problem was the laptops C drive. Customer service and support are just as important as the quality of the hardware you purchase.
tomnahoid –
I fitted one in my laptop to replace the original HDD and was amazed at the increase in speed for booting up and using programmes. Never needs defragging.
fut69 –
Great Product. Period
B. R. –
This Flash Drive is big enough and fast enough to be a primary drive on a small computer like an Intel NUC or one of the tiny ARM based systems. About Me Im a Newegg EggXpert, we arent paid for these reviews but we do get free review units. We also get early access to new devices which is fun. Im an engineer who has been designing computers since the 1970s. I specialize in networking and high performance computing.
Valeriy –
This flash drive is extremely fastIt takes less than 20 sec to transfer a 1.5G movie file.
AL –
The product description is pretty spot on, quality, build, stability, reliability is there … the only thing is that it runs hot if left in the USB port for a extended period of time., transfer files and eject the stick or else it becomes hot,
Tuco S –
Terrific SS Drive Very Pleased with performance of the drive
docsonly5 –
I never got to try the SanDisk Australia Post delivered it to Western Australia I am in Victoria they dont know who and wont do anything about it. I was compensated for the loss but I remain very disappointed.
Bruce C. –
I like SanDisk flash drives and own a number of the Extreme models in various capacities. Although there are a few others that benchmark slightly better, they are also significantly more expensive the Lexar P20 series, for example. I think SanDisk represents the best value for the money.
Deborah –
My digital mixing console is fussy about which drives it will accept and this one was recommended to me. It works perfectly and is fast. Very happy indeed good price too.
Kyle J. –
Work well. Fast access
AlexJ15 –
Fantastic USB stick. Using as Win 2 Go and its great. Can recommend.
Anonymous –
Whish is could be cheaper.
m1keyuk165 –
One of the fastest drives I have ever owned reaches the advertised speeds easily u cant go wrong with this drive I recommend this drive if you require speed and have the 3.1 gen 2 connector.

Does what is expected
Kevin –
Pros Its a memory card.Cons Nothing special from this item.Time will tell if it will last the manufacturers guarantee period of 2 years. Its in a surveillance camera application.Had to purchase this item because previous items had failed early, and i had voided its warranty using it a way which wasnt covered in the small text of the guarantee.
enilder2043 –
Very fast speeds and with a nice meaty storage. However this device is majorly flawed due to issues that develop over time with the retractable USB port. It works well until it doesnt. I got 6 months of periodic use until it just stopped working. Never damaged or ill treated and I have read other reviews echoing this same flaw.
whgeddes –
Very fast, very large capacity one minor problem perhaps not so minor hot to the touch is that it heats up within a minute or two of use. I bought it to back up a surface pro system but now wonder how hot it will get if I leave it running for 1520 minutes
malick2k –
Great piece of technology, to achieve the best results you need corresponding devices equally capable too.
DeenH –
Its quite long but great value for the amount of storage
Silver Surfer –
About 15 years ago I bought my first SanDisk product a 1GB Thumb Flash Drive and, am still using it, plus, several memory cards.I bought this SanDisk Extreme Pro because I wanted longevity, reliability, and, a name that I knew.Buying at John Lewis was a prerequisite as I wanted a safe and secure shopping experience.
alarmsellout –
This drive is extremely fast Must better than I even expected. I am using it to run an operating system and Ive experienced no real lags with it. A
DAVID –
Extremely fast flash drive and an excellent product.
kubotaking –
One of the fastest flash drives you can buy . I have 4
Moifest –
Opted for the SanDisk extreme drive after reading reviews around the Internet stating it was one of the fastest US3 drives on the market and a fraction of the price of comparable drives. It does not disappoint with read and write speeds as good as quoted on the packaging unlike my other USB3 drives which are no where near as fast to write too.Good quality design with retractable USB port.
John –
Pros Good productCons Nothing bad
Robert –
Pros Very fast both reading and writing.Cons Not the easiest to use tends to close slide back inside the outer cover,
chrisgracie –
I have been pleased with speed but it is really far too long in length
OnTheGo –
Fast data transfer combined with lots of storage space in a sturdy design the thumb drive to have
Bruce C. –
It looks like a nice unit, but has some issues. It comes formatted fat32 and cant handle large files. You have to reformat to exfat or ntfs for large files. Case is big. On my laptop there are three usb ports stacked vertically. If I plug this unit into one of the ports, there isnt room to plug anything into an adjacent port.
civengg –
If you are looking for a performance USB drive this one is recommended.
soundshoes –
This is the fastest flash card I have ever purchased, I downloaded my entire computer in less than 15 minutes
Anonymous –
When you need to be transferring large files you dont have all day and night to wait for it to load that is where Sandisk extreme Pro shines. I am getting 280mbps read and 240mbps write but its not the speed of of the box. I had to reformat it to NTFS to get these speeds. Out of the box the speed was 50 read25 write. Also make sure your drivers are up to date. The important ones are chipset driver and usb 3.0 driver.
edge –
High caliber USB 3 drive with xxcellent performance, high readwrite transfer rates
Anonymous –
A mechanically very robust USB memory stick with an aluminium body and extremely fast readwrite speeds.. Although it has a USB 3.1 Type A interface it can easily also be connected to any equipment with USB Type C by using an adapter cable.
Christopher –
Sandisk Extreme USB sticks are in a different league from everything else. This is the quickest yet, and really does offer near SSD performance via USB 30 31 Excellent price here too. I have used many Sandisk Extreme products not to be confused with the slower and unreliable Ultra drives and none have yet failed.

I would recommend this Flash drive to anyone needing a high capacity and fast drive.

This was the only True 1TB thumb drive I could find that was worth anything.. There are SOOOOO many fake 1TB drives out there these days. Not only is the Sandisk the real deal but it is also Very FAST I seem to always end up buying Sandisk thumb drives as I always want to get the fastest drive available. I have several of this drives predecessors. Most of them have all of the lettering worn off of the aluminum housing. ALL of the drives still perform flawlessly

My Sandisk Extreme 16 GB USB Flash Drive, works like a charm for a memory storagetransfer unit. I must have used two dozen Sandisk units in my life and all work great For this pocket unit, I liked the slide in and slide out abilities. Also great for protection of the USB 3.0 prong. Its only the basic deside that I had issue with. My Flash Drive did not look like the one that is shown as I write this review, similar but not the same. The picture here, shows a unit without a key ring holder on the end. Mine has a hole that I use to put the unit on my key chain. My problem was with that hole. Every time I wiggled the flash drive, it would open the USB portion because the key ring would push it out. Not Good What I did was to take a tiny round rattail file and file away the portion that was being pushed. This was a poor design that should have been caught and fixed at the factory. Since filing the portion away, I have had no problems at all. The picture On this review page shows a simple fix but doesnt have the key ring holder I so much enjoy. If you have a small file and file away the bad portion, this is a great Flash Drive as all Sandisk units are.

This flash drive , connected to USB 3.0 , is one of the fastest in circulation…
rmchone44 –
I purchased the 64gb version a couple years ago and needed more room. The 256gb version really fit my need and is really fast.
Nick –
i needed the fastest drive to minimise regular transfers this delivers
Ari A. –
I thought the included vault software was very easy to use and a nice bonus. Considering that you can fit a lot of data on this drive, perhaps all of your personal files, its nice to have the option to password encrypt it just in case.

As a point of comparison I tested this drive against my trusty USB 3.0 Corsair Slider 32GB. My wife and I have been using these Corsairs for a while now, theyre about double the speed of USB 2.0. For a test file I copied and pasted a 2GB mp4 file from the desktop to each drive and back again, and logged the speed of the transfer once it leveled out. I tested on two computers that have onboard USB 3.0 rather than adapters. On an i53570K Biostar TZ77B board with 16GB 1333 RAM and 240GB Samsung SSD running Windows 8 Pro the Sandisk results were 195 MBs read, 228 MBs write the Corsair averaged about 42 MBs both ways. On an i33220 Gigabyte H61M board with 8GB 1333 RAM and 128GB WD SSD running Windows 7 Home Premium the Sandisk results were 195 MBs read, 155 MBs write again, the Corsair averaged about 42 MBs both ways. I suspect the lower write speed was caused by the slower overall system, which highlights the fact that your results may vary. Since the Corsair Slider maxed out at 42 MBs both directions I saw a speed improvement thats four to five times faster thats why Im impressed. Just for giggles I tried both of the drives in a USB 2.0 port on both PCs, and they tied for 27 MBs. I figured that would happen but I just had to try. I like the construction of the Sandisk thumb drive. It has what appears to be aluminum wrapped around the plastic chassis and the slide mechanism operates smoothly with no snagging. Theres also a nicely sized hole for a lanyard why does everybody insist on making them so small but you have to supply your own. This is a very wellconstructed, large capacity drive, put out by a company that is well known for solid state storage. Its a very nice piece of work.

Of course, we will laugh at this puny little stick in 2030 But if you have been a pioneer like me, when a 2 GB hard drive was something to brag about, further back when I equipped the Adelaide Zoo with 5 X 7,000 Wang personal computers with state of the art 20 KB, yes KB, hard drives, this flash drive is pure science fiction By the way, there were no reviews in those days to compare the choices available No multiple computer magazines to point out the pros and cons of every piece of technology. Wang, by the way, was hopelessly non IBM compatible How was I to know Sure, given time, every little kid will have a 1 TB flash drive, eventually chipped in his flesh under a tattoo of the World Ruler, but for now to this old man I am holding what is to me the future. Enough to bring tear to my eyes Better still, it works and lives up to its name. It works in a flash The future has arrived but boy, you had better believe that the future will come again and surprise us all Meanwhile this stick is Extreme

This is second one, that I have purchased. Have not used the new one as of yet, but the first one is working flawlessly, so far.Seems very fast.Would recommend this FD to any and all.

Our photos were on several 16GB flash drives so I purchased this 128GB drive to transfer photos to. I love having so much storage space and its faster than our other flash drives.

for the price, i expected more and got less. not worth it, so keep on searching

Great flash drive. I purchased the 64 GB version 1 year ago and have absolutely loved it. So has everyone else I have let use it. SanDisk should pay me a royalty for all of the customers I have brought them by sharing their drive. Everyone who has used it has bought one. Just got the 128 GB stick. I use for 4k video files and large photo files. Speed is a must. This stick is blazing. 240 MBs write and will do every MB of it. I just puchased a 4 lb fire extinguisher and put it in my office just in case this baby catches my desk on fire. Adorama had barn burner sale on Black Friday I could not turn down. 5 stars for Adorama for always delivering the best products at the best prices with world class customer service. Cant wait for the 256GB version of the Extreme Pro to come out This may sound like a paid review, but it is not. Buy this bad boy, you will not be disappointed
panza314 –
fantastic speed either you connect it to USB 2.0 or 3.0 average write speed in USB 2.0 is between 25 and 31 MBps and 3.0 around 240 MBps overall it is Ferrari within USB sticks

mradrianamos –
One of the best USBs out there right now. Fast reliable and got for a great price from Bing Lee
Aaron B. –
Is it worth the extra money For me, no. Simply put, the extra speed is nice, but I dont have a compelling need for it, and just the fact that its well built isnt enough to justify the extra cost. If youre reading this and dont really have a need for the fastest out there, then there are better options. Windows to go would be nice, but im still trying to figure out why I would need it. That one is on microsoft. With remote desktop, office 365, cloud servers and the like, I just dont know why I would need to carry an OS on a stick to plug into someone elses computer. Like most new things from Microsoft, theres a 5050 chance that it really makes sense, but I just dont get it yet. Like the start button If you havent heard of windows to go, it may be worth a quick google. So if youve got lots of data to carry around, or want a full backup in your pocket, just in case, this may be the stick for you. Not for me. 4 stars for a great product thats a bit too pricey for what I need.
darl80 –
Compared this to other drives I had and it is lightning quick. Highly recommend
radbulatovi0 –
The actual memory size is not 128, but 119 gb. Also, the speed of memory is not as in the description of the product. At 3.1 port, nonconventional data entry does not exceed 215mb. All in all, too much money for this thing. Personally, Im not happy.
Mike –
Arrived on time and in good order. This device was easy to use with good application for encryption and transferring files . Build quality is satisfactory.
alfaman73 –
Its very fast and perfect.
Brandon W. –
For using this as a normal flash drive for data that doesnt need to be kept secret, I think you will be as impressed as I am. However, be advised that you will want to use a different tool than the one included if you want a better expectation of privacy for your files. I dont know an extreme amount about crypto, but I know from a metadata analysis perspective, its much better to not be able to have any identifiable information about your files. For example, it would be possible to determine that the files are perhaps certain file types based on their size. There are better solutions out there go Truecrypt, use those instead. The size is fantastic. Ive been wanting to start bringing a Linux distro along with me, but I have to pick space or speed. This drive is the perfect amount of both If the Linux distro doesnt pan out, I may use this drive to offload some space from my SSD and cloud storage accounts. Overall, I love this drive and highly recommend it.
switkongdachaler0 –
Installed Windows 10 on it for use as a bootable thumb drive. Fast boot up, even faster than my internal HDD. Copying files to and from the drive is quick. I havent benchmarked it, but a whole movie transfer 5 GB took around 1020 seconds, so thats probably around the advertised speed.
69flex –
Using the 256G sandisk extreme pro on a nvidia shield tv pro as extra storage I was recommended it from a few sites on the net that it was the best for the system and I can honestly say there not wrong the usb is very fast . Actually just as fast or faster than internal storage. Great product highly recommended
Fred –
I cant comment on how well it works with moving or saving small files yet, as thats why I bought it. I did completely load and unload it with HD video files 10GB each and was very happy with the time it took and the fact it didnt seem to overheat and slow down.
Anonymous –
Removable. This drive is RIDICULOUS in speed when put in a USB3 port. Ive used USB3 drives from Corsair, Transcend, and Kingston… this drive BLOWS them out of the water. 16GB of a mix or large and small files transferred from USB drive to the PC in a matter of 3mins. AMAZING Yes, its bigger than other USB3 drives, but Id still take it… in fact, just ordered another one
hilaryallan –
Absolutely no issues It is great for me and I love the capacity I use it on a constant basis between work and home .
dragonc5 –
Very fast, practical for larger files, is not too big.
charlesdoubleya –
Super fast writing speed as advertised. A few other drives claim to have faster write speeds, however fail to meet their advertised speeds in the real world. Reading speeds will almost always be faster than the writing speed. Again this drive meets its advertised super speed read speeds, other drives again claim to be faster, however, fail to meet expectations, making this drive the true fastest USB 3.0 thunmb drive in the real world.
ioannibaxevano0 –

I use it with my Samsung smart TV to record TV program and movies and I am satisfied. The device has a metal and plastic body with a simple mechanism to slide the USB connector in and out. This mechanism works well. It gets pretty warm while being used.I did not measure the speed of the device, however, loading recorded programs and movies is fast and smooth

Great product, I have several Extreme flash drives which run fast.. This 128GB is well priced considering its capacity, seems to be wellbuilt and runs very fast too. I would definitely recommend it.

This is by far my favorite drive. I definitely recommend it if you are willing to spend the money.
BRANDON R. –
This thing is a godsend for the things I use it for. I work in the IT department and used to carry around a portable hard drive to store the files I needed and now I just carry this little guy with me everywhere I go. I carry everything from ISOs for Office, Windows, and Dev tools to portable apps for Email, IM, and other utilities. Whenever I need to install something I just plug this in and mount the ISO and it installs way faster than using a CD or installing over the network. I did have to reformat the drive using exFAT so that I could store ISOs larger than 2GB but using FAT is the norm so it can work with OSx as well as Windows. SanDisk lists this drive as having a lifetime limited warranty on their website while Newegg only says 2 years. This means that if it quits working for any reason they will replace it with a refurbished or new drive, unless the reason it stops working is because of physical damage. Nice peace of mind knowing this when youre going to spend 150. As far as design goes, the SanDisk Extreme comes in a metal case with a retractable USB plug. It is notably longer than the other drives I have used but not so much that becomes bothersome. The retraction mechanism works really well and is perfectly smooth and seems to be spring assisted and I much prefer this over using a cap to protect the USB connector as eventually you will lose that thing. The speeds on this thing are amazing, reading and writing files were on average around 200 MBs when copying to and from a Samsung 840 EVO SSD which is plenty fast for anything you need to do, installing programs from an ISO on the device finished within minutes. I could install Office 2013 from this in under 5 minutes.

There are plenty of good flash drives out there, but many of them have plastic or rubber connecting points. I like to keep my drive on my key chain, and have too often lost the drive because of a broken casing. This one has the hole though its aluminum frame, and I am confident that it will not fail catastrophically.
Buyer –
The worst after sale experience I have ever had.The memory stick was faulty as soon as I started using it.

Excellent Drive only issue was there seems to be a formatting conflict when I backup files from laptopsdesktops files consume twice the space on the Sandisk 1TB.
yram364 –
Easy, best USB flash thumb drive fastest. Thanks again

Fastest thumb drive I have used. Brilliant for large 4k video files. It is about four times faster then my TDK silver drives and I thought they were fast until now. The drive is physically a little larger but this is not an issue for me.

Excellent quality and value for money flash drive. You will notice the extra speed with USB ports 3.1 and next gen.

its great realy fast and cheap it says refurb on but it means nothing to me I loaded a 1.34 gb film on it in 40 seconds thats impressive nothing els its fast cheap and scan disk

At first I thought it was lacking the advertised speeds but this is because you need to disable quick eject in windows havent tried it on any other os which enables write caching and allows the full speeds to be obtained less than half without c. 120MBsec write speed if quick eject enabled. So very pleased as I bought it for high speed transfers and it does that. Other than that its just a normal well designed usb stick dont know about reliability yet, but cant imagine it wont be reliable.

Its fast and has a nice openretract mechanism which locks in the closed position with ease. The finish looks like metal but its plastic which is a shame
