This lens is an absolute gem. Great price and has a unique character, the rendering is beautiful like lenses of old before everyone became so focused on image sharpness that photos lost that character. Yes the lens is still sharp but its not to sharp. The autofocus once updated to latest firmware is spot on, not as fast as Sonys own lenses but still good enough. Images are sharp enough from wide open and the image quality is beautiful and characterful. Oh and the focal length makes it that perfect one lens to cover 35 and 50 by taking a few steps either way when composing your images. And oh my god is it light!!! Perfect walk around lens One person found this helpful

Whats not to like about this lens? It’s very affordable, built extremely well and most importantly takes great photos. The lens arrived with version 4 installed so I think earlier reviews around autofocus abilities have largely been resolved. It produces quite warm images that are razor sharp, especially when considering I have only taken photos in f1.4. I am so happy with this lens and am looking forward to taking more photos with it, especially in low light. The first test I did was at my childrens sports day where I managed to captue a large proportion of photos in focus, sometimes the focus completely missed and instead of getting the face it focused on the hair on the top of the head. However the images I did get in focus made me happy and were of a good quality. I am not a professional and therefore have fewer worries around not getting all the imagaes, I missed nothing of importance and managed to capture several good images from each event. Love the lens and would definitely consider buying another Samyang lens in the future.

This lens is crazy sharp especially in the centre even at f2.8. Heavy vinietting wide open however I almost always add it in post anyway. No diffraction visible at f16 on my Sony A7- I usually shoot landscapes at this aperture so it’s an ideal lens for my work where I like foreground elements to be in focus. Small, lightweight, sharp and very wide. I had my Tamron 20mm f2.8 stolen and bought this as a replacement, I’m glad I did. AF is fast and accurate even in low light at f22. I don’t bother with video as I have a phone with stabilised 4k but for landscape photography work this is a good one. 2 people found this helpful

Google Chrome Cast HD 1080. Easy to set up right out of the box. On set up you are left with 4.7 gig. Additional storage can be added but this device is USB C not micro USB like firestick. It may not be cost effective to add additional storage as a powered hub connecting to the device would be best. As storage was not detected through suitable otg. Interface is google TV clean and smooth setting for side loading nice, the 7 clicks we all know. All the UK applications install and essentially run unlike some Google certified devices is mecool , onn, . However channel 4 does not search but this is common to Google tv, so was no surprise. Channel 4 in their wisdom have only ever made a Google mobile application. This is a simple device and remote. It has all you need including batteries. Would I recommend YES better than a Roku YES again You can install vpn’s and all applications and apk’s. For the UK market its not stifling like a Roku. Ordered via Gadget Tree It cost 34.99 and offsetting cost against top cash back balance for testing it cost 5.00 The VPN used was nord VPN in testing and was smooth throughout. Other VPN are available, can’t thank any sponcer. As didn’t have one. Would I recommend Yes. Better than a Roku in the UK One person found this helpful

Tl;dr – Samyang is a company that makes fantastically designed lenses, at a great price, but with poor quality control. I have owned a number of their lenses, but my experience with this particular model pretty much sums up my overall experience of the brand. First the positives: – My second copy is sharp, even wide open. First copy was slightly hazy wide open, but sharp stopped down a bit. – The bokeh is absolutely beautiful under *most* circumstances: the best of any 50 1.4 I’ve seen. However, the molded aspherical elements render pretty horrendous onion rings with specular highlights/points of light/sunlight through leaves, and these can look like bullseyes when the subject is mid-distance and the bokeh balls are smaller. Realistically, this is a sub-£400 lens – it’s not going to have the quality of lens elements that a Sony GM has. Like I say, most of the time, the bokeh is great. – Autofocus is mostly quick and accurate on the latest firmware, although it is quite noisy and a bit jittery in AF-C. – The lens *feels* nice and well-made, but appearances can be deceptive due to Samyang’s laughable quality control. Now for the negatives, which are all down to the aforementioned lack of QC. – The first copy I purchased was a bit hazy in the middle wide open, which I was willing to live with, as the overall look of the images was very nice due to the very soft bokeh (in most situations – more later). However, what I couldn’t live with was the sloppy and wonky aperture blades, which when set to 1/3 stop increments, didn’t even move from f1.4->f1.6, and only then started to close slightly at f1.8. The f-stops were also *very* different depending on whether you were going up or down the aperture range, due to the amount of slack in them, e.g. the exposure at f4 could be quite different depending on whether you’d just changed up or down. The aperture was also very asymmetrical, which meant weird sunstars. Overall, I didn’t have much confidence that the blades wouldn’t get stuck at some point. – The second copy was sharper and had better aperture blades, although still not symmetrical when stopped down (this is not uncommon in cheap lenses). However, when I first took the lens cap off the lens looked like it had been underneath a roof-fall, and was covered in a thick layer of what looked like plaster dust! After carefully cleaning it off, I found that there was a big piece of white fluff on the aperture blades which, when they opened, fell off onto the focussing element and stuck there. This fluff only shows up in bokeh balls, so I’ve kept the lens, but it is a bit annoying. So, in summary, if you are willing to take a chance, you might get a very good lens at a decent price. Caveat emptor – and fully examine/test the lens before the return period runs out. One person found this helpful

Personal experience of this EF lens with a DSLR and SLR is that it is one of the best performers for Ultra wide angle at such a low price. The construction seems good, fitting is perfect and the autofocus works very well. The quality of glass seems great and the optical performance is excellent, it has some distortion which should be expected but it is an acceptable amount and will work for most landscape or astro photography. The biggest disadvantage is that it does not accept filters which means the very large front element can’t be protected. For the price it is an excellent performing lens.

July 2024 Size Name: 45mm Style Name: Sony FE Pattern Name: Single This is quite literally the kindest and most appealing focal length I have ever found, 45mm is like what my eye sees and the results are phenomenal for portraiture. You will not be disappointed with this very budget priced absolute diamond in the rough lens.
