this is the ricoh gr iii hdf camera, it’s the latest 2024 model, hdf mean the built in nd filter is replaced by the highlight diffusion filter (hdf) ordered it for my own christmas present, and this is my first ricoh point and shoot camera, been using dslr for years, now it’s time for a change, much better experience for street photography it’s so small and lightweight, it takes sd card for memory, one 256gb card could store over 6000 raw+jpg photo, literally never worry about memory, raw file format is dng (around 35mb per photo), jpg photo around 13mb per photo it start up in less than a second, perfect for instant capture something interesting, for basic point and shoot, it’s intuitive and there are av, tv, m and p model as well for more advanced users, there are loads of setting to fit your style, there are 3 quick preset models (u1, u2, u3) on the dial, very convenient there are thousands of recipes available online for photo setting, i can customise the look and feel of my photo, make it my favourite positive, negative or b/w film style, by shooting raw, i can do the customisation anytime after took the picture, a great feature of the gr camera battery life is a bit short, but that’s understandable for such a small battery, one fully charged battery will make around 90 shots, provided that i keep turning on and off but not keep it turned on for whole time, i ordered 2 spare batteries, so it’s good enough for one normal day, for travel, i believe i will get 2-4 more spare batteries to make sure i won’t miss any shots used it for 2 weeks, sometimes it will miss focus or unable to focus, not sure if it’s too cold or too moisture, turning it on and off will solve the issue, but really i missed a few good shots caused by this focus issue all in all, very satisfied with this camera, definitely good image quality, very detailed and high dynamic range, shooting raw+jpg is a must for tasting new recipes, always got surprise with the same photo happy with it, would highly recommend it

Couldn’t decide between this and the GR IIIx but in the end due to travel it seems that the GR III is the most sensible for capturing more memories. Love the camera, if I need 35mm I can just crop the pictures, the resolution, lens is very sharp so even cropped the pictures look great. With the IIIx you can’t just uncrop a picture and thats why I went with this version. Hope this helps

The RICOH GR III HDF is everything I hoped for and more. It’s a perfect blend of performance, portability, and creativity. If you’re a street photographer, travel photographer, or just someone who wants a high-quality, pocketable camera, this is a must-have. The new Highlight Diffusion Filter is a game-changer, adding an extra layer of creative control to your shots. One person found this helpful
