7-14mm focal length 14-28mm equivalent focal length on Micro Four Thirds cameras F4.0 constant maximum aperture; F22 minimum Image stabilization, via camera body where available 0.25m/9.84 minimum focus Micro Four Thirds mount for Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens cameras.

From the Manufacturer

Taking advantage of its wide, 114-degree angle of view, users can easily fit subjects into the frame even when shooting indoors where the distance is limited. The world looks extraordinary when viewed through the new lens, allowing photos and movies to be recorded with a uniquely rich perspective.

This high-performance lens system achieves outstanding compactness by combining 16 lens elements in 12 groups, including two aspherical lenses and four ED lenses. Image resolution is high from corner-to-corner even at the wide-angle setting. It also features F4.0 brightness over the entire zoom range thanks to its large-diameter glass molded lens elements.

When mounted on the DMC-GH1 Lumix G Micro System Camera, the new lens allows use of the advanced contrast AF system, which includes a Face Recognition function, for more convenient, more enjoyable shooting. Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings.

The Lumix G Vario 7-14mm/F4.0 ASPH. lens also features a highly reliable metal mount, and uses multi-coated lens elements that minimize ghosts and flare to further enhance its optical performance. The optimally designed lens hood enables use even under strong sunlight.

This is the first lens Ive bought besides the kit lens that came with my OMDM10, and Im really happy with it. Its quite a bit sharper, and I can take photos in much lower light without issue. I was also really pleased with the price

I am extremely satisfied with this small and light standard prime lens for G9. It is plastic, but produces sharp and nice looking images.

Captures exceptional sharp pictures. I mainly use it during day time, balmy or sunny day and pictures are exceptionally sharp.

When I first got this lens it was my first prime, I have to admit, it took some getting used to. I didnt really know whenhow to use it. But now it is definitely my favorite lens. I think I might like the 20mm more if I had it, but at the price I got this for, and the accessories bundled with it were an awesome value. Nice bokeh. Focuses well. The software suite is not adobe cc, but considering the price a steal

Made a few test images sharp, rich very happy with the sharpness and quality. However the lens made to much noise scraping sound when focusing on both mf and af settings. So I returned the lens to BH. And I want to thank BH for making the return processes fast and easy. I could not ask for better service. Ended up purchasing the Leica DG 25 1.4.

This is a great lens to add in your bag. Quality of this lens is amazing and Ive used it many of my video productions. Light lens, value for your bucks prime lens.

I bought my copy when it was released at introductory holiday pricing. I was considering the Oly 1.8 but at 99USD, the Panny was kind of a nobrainer. 25cm closest focusing distance and whisperquiet AF. Comes with a lens hood, if youre into that sort of thing. Im no measurebator and couldnt care less about MTF charts but in my experience, you rarely have to stop down past f2.8 to achieve reasonable sharpness across the entire frame. Bokeh is pleasant for the price. Given how close you can focus, shallow depth of field can be achieved rather easily for portrait use. I wish there was a bit more contrast, though. Ive had it for a little over a year as of this writing and very much enjoy it. Brings back memories from BW101. Then again, what normal fast prime wouldnt

Incredibly impressed by this lens. It has been on the body since I received it in the mail. Its incredible how sharp it is wide open and the background blur that it renders is smooth and pleasing to the eye.Definitely one of the first lens to purchase with your micro four thirds system.

I picked up this lens on a whim. And Im very happy I did. This equivalent to a nifty 50 on a full frame camera is great for the price. I got it for less than 150 and I love the small depth of field I get. For the price point , I couldnt be happier.

This Panasonic Luminary G 25mm f1.7 lens is Superb. If you are looking for a high quality lens capable of low light applications, this lens is Superb very reasonably priced

AF is very quick, at least on my PenF. I didnt use it on anything else yet. Theres practically no corner shading at f1.7. None noticed at f2.8. If theres any distortion, its nothing visible in typical use. Hasnt been a reflection problem, ad sharpness is more than necessary for my 20MP M43 camera, even wide open. The hood is included, the current price of 150 is so low its too LOL, and the lens weighs almost nothing. Focus is internal, so theres nothing on its exterior to wobbly or to jam up from a minor impact. Ive got no negative remarks about it. Its a normal lens and it does its job to a well beyond average degree. Its n ot supposed to do anything amazing … but its not supposed to do anything poorly, either. And thats what it delivers and thats why I rated it five stars.

This lens does its job. I was able to get great video quality and it is just about as great as an expensive lens. Its light and makes the camera more compact. All its missing is the image stabilization.

One of the best prime lenses for micro 43 system and certainly the most value for money lens. It is very sharp and very small and lightweight. I certainly recommend buying this lens

I recently ordered and already received a Nikon 1020mm f4.55.6 and a Panasonic 25mm f1.7 lenses…both brand new. I am very much satisfied with the delivery speed. It took them 5 days to reach Saudi Arabia, which is lightning fast. The packing was satisfactory. Nikon lens was packed very nicely, but the Panasonic lens packing had a lot of scratches. Even the Panasonic lens inside had a few dust particles and felt like used one. It also gave a WB flicker with AF. I dont know if it is normal for Panasonic lens on Olympus OMD EM10 II, because none of my other MFT lenses have ever shown such issues. The end result is excellent though and it is sharp with very good microcontast. I hope that it is a solitary incident and my copy of the Panasonic lens turned out to be a bit clumsy.Thank you very much for your time and effort for reading all of the above. BH is the BEST photography gear place for online customers like me.

This lens is small, lite, and has quick focus. Comes with a lens hood that can be revered for easy storage. Manual focus ring is large and very smooth as well. Works great in low light and all my photos have been very sharp. The only small quibble I have is the the manual focus takes a while to go from one end to the other, but this is minor annoyance. Its a great fit for my G85. At this price point I dont think you will find a better micro 43 prime lens. Note I am an enthusiast level user.

Its compact, affordable and, well it takes good pictures. Im just a hobbyist who cant give you a lot of jargon as to why its good, but I like it. I bought it cause it has a larger than average aperture so I thought it would be good for low light situations. Ive only practiced with a little so far, but I think thats the case.

Its a great lens for GX85. Its quick due to the camera. It gives relatively good Bokeh. I just move around to get the subject into the frame. It gives me excellent and sharp images. Priced possession now.

I have used this lens for about a week now. I love the quality that this lens gives you at its price point. For less than 200 you get such an amazing, quality lens. What a bargain

  22. blank

    Envy

I bought this lens as my first prime for the micro four thirds system. This lens is very good for the price and produces sharp images if you nail the focus. The focal length is a classic. A 50mm equivalent. I shoot this lens on my Olympus OMD EM 10 Mark II. The auto focus is very fast. The one downside would be the plastic build but even then for the price it is very good.

  23. blank

    CheeseDog

Very good lens for the price. Unless you have extra money or have a professional need, this lens is probably going to be all you will need to take great lowlight photos.

Bought this lens for my Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k. Works very well. If you hit the autofocus button it gets right on for whatever scene you are shooting. Sharp enough to match the 1235 on my GH5 when putting clips together. You cant beat it for the price IMO.

  25. blank

    Dyan

I was expecting sharper images. Nikon has a 35mm 1.8 that costs 196.00 . That thing is the bomb, even though plastic. Was hoping Panasonic was similar. Nope. Panasonic lenses are overpriced and not that great.

  26. blank

    James

I ordered this lens to use with my gm1 and gx9 bodies. So far I have been very impressed. My basis of comparison is the 20mm Panasonic lens which I love for its compactness especially on the GM1 body but it sometimes is a bit slow to focus. This one is larger but much faster to focus. Going from 20mm to 25mm also gives a bit different view which I am enjoying.

  27. blank

    GUY

I mostly do video but got this to have an autofocus lens for stills. Its light weight and the optics seem to be pretty good. I havent pixel peeped it yet but it seems to be pretty sharp so far. One thing I dont like is the continuous focus ring. When I want to manually focus, the ring spins infinitely with no hard stops. There is simply a digital bar on the screen or viewfinder that indicates each end of the focus range. All in all, decent lens, particularly at its cheap, cheap price.

  28. blank

    KevinJ

Really happy with the Lumix G 25mm. I takes great shots, much better than the kit lens.

I recently bought this and was not really sure what to expect, in a word its brilliant. OK there are better bits of glass out there but not at this price point. An f1.7 AF lens for the price that these go for is simply amazing and really does take some beating. The lens is well made considering its price point and the images it renders are simply great, at f1.7 you get a nice bokeh and lovely clear centre ideal for portraits, ramping up the f stops leads to lovely clear images across the frame. If you want a fast piece of glass and do not have much to spend these are definitely worth looking at.

This is the perfect lens for any photographer a 50mm is the perfect focal length. Could not reccomend any other lens.

    thejkhc

This lens for the price got it during the sale. Is a great piece of kit for m43 shooters. It comes with a lens hood too Which olympus really ought to do. Anyways i digress. The lens itself the image quality is very crisp. I havent noticed much softness or vingetteing at the corners. However, wide open the lens suffers from colour fringing along high contrast edges. The bokeh is very smooth with only ever a few moments where it seems strange. But it isnt choppy like similar lenses in this price range from the Traditional APSC dslr camp. The build quality is adequate. Its a plastic body with a metal lens mount, but i forgive this because its an internal AF system. So no fiddly bits that can get crud stuck inside.

  32. blank

    EDWARD

Snapped this up when it first came out. In good light it focuses very fast. Even my Oly kit lens sigma hunt in dim light. Focusing is on par with other lenses. Wide open looks good. set it to f2.5 or above and its very sharp. Lightweight you can really swing this around with low user fatigue. Has a metal lens mount. Its not a pancake but its not huge. Very happy.

  33. blank

    John

Its made of plastic and longer than I really wanted. Advantage is that is is lightwieight. All other prime lenses were much more expensive.

  34. blank

    Eric

A great little normal equivalent lens. Sharp wide open. Good colors. Fast and silent AF. Makes the most of a MFT sensor. Great price. A fantastic value. At this price, I would not be surprised if the mount was plastic but it is metal. Comes with a hood also.

  35. blank

    Robert

Love this lens. First the price is right.Second it is very sharp and gives a noticeable bump to bokeh when opened up to 1.7.Its also very light. Doesnt have the heft of say the 1235 but is obviously a good piece of glass. Would absolutely recommend.

  36. blank

    Nick

This a great first lens to get after the kit lenses that come with your camera. The wide aperture makes it great for low light and getting sharp images with beautiful blurry backgrounds. Ive used this lens for both video and stills on the Panasonic G7 and it produces phenomenal images. Definitely recommend

  37. blank

    David

Everyone should have a nice fast prime in their kit and, for the price, this one performs very well. I was looking at some offbrand MFT manual lenses for less with a max f1.1 for my GH4. A price drop in this lens made me purchase this Panasonic prime instead. This lens is much better in the corners than I saw in others and, since it still has a nice max f1.7. I still get that lowlight benefit and shallow depth of field to produce some nice Bokeh. It doesnt have any stabilization so its not so great for handheld video but it has definitely improved my photos not only due to the max f1.7 but also forcing me to get a different perceptive with the fixed focal length.

  38. blank

    David

Couldnt ask for more, at least not for a normal price … meaning Im not comparing it to such things as ZeissforSony or SigmaforNikonCanon normal lenses with 4figure prices. Distortion is practically nonexisting, corner shading is minimal and disappears very early in the fstop range … f2.5 by my eyes. AF is very fast and positive. Aesthetically, appearance and MF feel nothing special, but no problems either. It does NOT have that cheap stuff look or feel but doesnt seem to scream premium product either. For what this lens costs, I feel like I stole it

  39. blank

The kit lens with the G7 does a nice job when theres ample light. The Lumix G 25mm f1.7 lens opens the door to new possibilties in less than idea conditions. Ive been photographing time lapse of moonflowers which open just after the sun sets. The sharpness and speed of this lens allows me to use a reasonable ISO of 800 and have the ability to capture the entire process of the flower blossoming in fading light. Its speed allows me to use fast shutter speeds when trying to capture blossoms in daylight when there are breezy conditions. Im pleased that this kind of lens was in my price range. I believe it will a lens that I often use.

Picked up this lens for on sale when 1st released MSRP . I use this primarily for video work with my GH4 and G7 cameras. While it does not have Image Stabilization it offers up a very fast aperture of 1.7 which is great for low light situations. Seems reasonably sharp when shooting video at 4k and the image gets even sharper when you downscale to 1080p.A must have for any micro 43 camera owner

I was looking at the Olympus 25mm f1.8 for 399.00 and found this one for 100 off. A couple websites that reviewed this lens and especially imagingresource.com really showed how comparable both are. Also, customer reviews that have Olympus cameras using this lens speak of how great this lens is too. I was sold. Even not on sale, it is worth saving 150. It is light weight and decently fast focus. I am very happy with it.

  42. blank

I formerly owned the Olympus 25mm f1.8 and used it on an EM5 II and another copy of the EM1 II. That was a nice lens but it is now substantially more expensive than the Lumix lens. The Lumix lens has a metal lens mount and IMO the same or better optical performance on my current EM1 II. Worthy alternative to the Olympus.

  43. blank

    Wilfred

This is a sleeper lens. The construction is sturdy, but lightweight, with a metal lens mount. The appearance is unassuming, especially when set next to Olympus flashier 25mm. But, it really shines where it counts. The optical performance is first rate, sharp wide open with decent background blur, and tack sharp when stopped down to f48. Color rendition is good. The lens also has character, which Id be hard pressed to define, but produces pleasing images. A nobrainer purchase, especially if you grew up with the nifty fifty as your first 35mm format lens.

Nice lens. Great price. Ive read some reviews indicating that the manual focus control is overly sensitive. I have not found this to be an issue. Its very intuitive and easy to adjust with one finger. That said the auto focus is fantastic so I dont use the manual very often.

I picked up an Olympus EM10, I am getting to an age where lugging around my full frame Canon with an assortment of lenses is getting to be tiresome. I decided I wanted to get a trio of prime lenses that would accommodate most of my photo needs. I was able to find a used 14mm f2.5 Panasonic and 45mm f1.8 Olympus. This lens when it came on special completed the set. This lens is larger in diameter and slightly longer than the Olympus 45mm, yet it weighs less. Focusing indoors seems to be very quick. Eyes placed at rule of thirds points appear to be very sharp. I dont do photography which will require extreme sharpness at outer edges so cant comment. Christmas tree behind people was out of focus enough at f2 to make subjects stand out. From initial shots I doubt the bokeh will be the equal of full frame quality, but it suffices. There is no image stabilization but I am using it on an Olympus body with IBIS. Like that both the 14 and 25 Panasonic lenses take 46mm filters. Although I have only had the lens a short time the shots taken have turned out very well as far as I am concerned. There are downsides to the smaller sensor but I have to say I have been enjoying photography more lately with this small light weight equipment. With the camera and a lens around my neck, the other two fit into a jacket pocket. Reminds me of my OM1 from the film era.I am sure Panasonic had to cut corners to make this budget lens, but whatever sacrifices they made havent intruded upon my photographic enjoyment

I ordered this Lens on Thursday Afternoon , 11.00 am on Friday , it was on my Camera , Well done WEX ,My first Impression of the Results , Excellent , Since doing Digital about twelve years ago , I have wanted a Standard prime , This one is inexpensive , sharp , light and just the right size on an EM1. I have only had it a few hours , havent been outside the garden. So cant comment on Durability , feels well made . Impressed by well made hood , half the price of the Oly and seems to be at least as well made , looks dont real matter , but , I think it looks great . Need to go and use it Now .. Bye

Im a Full Frame DSLR user so shooting micro 43 is a little new for me. Bought the Lumix for my wife and she said it felt like it was lacking something. Bought this lens after comparing with the other 25mm and decided this was the one to buy. So far so good and my wife is really happy with the images. The kit and kit zoom that the camera came with have not been used since we got this.

    CODY

This lens is incredibly sharp, even at f1.7 and the auto focus is wonderfully fast and precise compared to the 20mm. Its small and light, and the lens hood does very well. I use it to get that classic 50mm look on my m43 camera. Its also great for video. Only cons are the lack of aperture ring, and the focus ring just spins forever so its not like a manual lens.

  49. blank

    Jian

Bought this lens at a discounted price from Adorama. This lens is on par with 20 1.7 in terms of sharpness, but the autofocus is much more responsive. Bokeh was there but not very impressive, because of its smaller format. It is very light, which is good for travel. The size is fine too. I would recommend it to friends when the lens is on sale.

  50. blank

    ginjin3

Great quality for the price. Ive had the more expensive F1.4 version, in the past, and this is pretty close to that quality for a fraction of the price. The only thing I dislike about this model is the focus by wire feature, when you turn the focus ring. Its a minor gripe, but definitely not a deal breaker. I would recommend this lens to anyone whod rather not spend 3x for the F1.4 model.

  51. blank

    Helen

Ive had this lens for about 3 weeks now, and Im not disappointed at all. The lens is very sharp for what it is, even wide open, and the focus is extremely fast and pretty accurate too. Obviously this isnt a sigma art lens, but overall its a great addition to my line of lenses.

  52. blank

    Jim

Theres a million reasons to buy this and none not to. Its under 150. If you own a LUMIX frame, then you buy quality stuff. So being able to get a quality lens for this price is insane. And its blistering fast. Its my favorite portrait lens for my gh4.

This is a very interesting lens. I have not yet used it outdoors so I cant comment on flare resistance. Indoors, I find it to be very slightly sharper wide open as is my M.Zuiko 1442mm II R kit zoom lens is at 25mm and f4.4 a pretty good kit lens. At the same aperture and focal length, the Panny is noticeably sharper in the corners, not so much in the center. I would say that overall, it is very good in terms of center and edge sharpness being the same at all apertures, and of course it is fast at f1.7. Focusing is instant on an Ep5 and it balances nicely. Nice that they included a hood. It is light weight but rather large for a 25mm lens. So, if you need a fast normal focal length lens, for this is itFinal note this lens makes up a trio of under m43 lenses I now ownthe M.Zuiko 1442mm II R , the M.Zuiko 40150mm telephoto zoom also .00, and this lens. Optically, they all punch way above their weight class in terms of IQ and are dirt cheap. If you buy an older vintage 16mp m43 body, and get these three lenses there isnt much you cant shoot, and it could all be done for under including the body.

This is my first prime lens and I am hooked I received the Lumix G 25mm for free from BH as part of a Panasonic G7 bundle. This lens used with the G7 creates beautiful shots with great depth of field or wide angle views. The auto focus is a little slow, but its not a big issue since I use manual focus most of the time. It is also extremely small which is perfect for traveling. It took me a little while to get used to no zoom, but I have no regret buying this lens. It makes me think creatively to set up shots rather than relying on a zoom lens. I would definitely recommend this lens if you are purchasing the G7 bundle since it comes with a zoom lens already. If you are looking for your first prime lens, I would definitely recommend this one.

This is an excellent lens. It has a plastic body but the mount is metal, which is where it counts. Some of my Olympus lenses have plastic mounts. The one issue I have with the lens is that the trim ring that needs to be removed to mount the hood is very tight. So tight that I cannot remove it without the aid of a rubber band wrapped around the trip ring for added grip.I also have an issue with BH. They recommend the OPTech 301 punch, but that pouch is too short. Ive returned the 301 and ordered the OPTech 253, which should be a better fit.

This is a great lens for getting that shallow depth of field. Its also super lightthis lens and GH4 body together weigh 1.7lbs and I love how smooth the focus ring operates. Its especially good for the price point. The biggest difference Ive seen between this lens and the Leica 42.5mm f1.2 is the way noise is handled in outoffocus areas. This lens tends to produce more pronounced grainnoise at low light as opposed to the smooth grain of the 1.2 lens. All in all a great lens, just expect to deal with a bit of noise in low light. I would absolutely buy this lens again, especially with the heftier price of the 42.5mm Leica.

I bought this to supplement the standard lens with my Olympus OM DEM10. My plan was to use it for some portrait shots, but I havent as yet. I have had brilliant results, though, with architecture shots the lens gives crisp detail on subject in focus, and beautiful bokeh in the background. Well worth the price to enhance your choice of shots.

For the price, this lens is hard to beat. Im using it primarily for video but Ive taken a couple of stills with it as well and was very impressed. Its great in low light and you can get a very nice bokeh effect.

  60. blank

    El Jeffe

It is nearly weightless. People have left negative comments on the plastic build. I believe the plastic to be extremely durable. If the lens was dropped it would probably bounce. Plastic can absorb shock better than heavy metal which will transfer energy to the glass. This was a bargain I could not pass up. I plan to keep this new f1.7 on my little GM5 for every day use. No complaints from me. Focus is swift and quiet, and optics are fine. Includes a plastic fantastic lens hood that attaches firmly and will absorb bumps.

  61. blank

    Quick snaps

On my EPL5 or EP5 this lens produces nice sharp center focus images with consistent fine detail at f1.7 with distant backgrounds having nice bokeh. With EP5 and image stabilization can take photos in very low light hand held. Christmas lights on houses look very nice no blur handheld. Focus is sharp, instantaneous and quiet. Focus as close as 25cm but not a macro lens.

I used this lens to make a short film called Man of my Word on my youtube channel RodneyMac12 and all I can say is that its worth every penny. It looks sharp on video, it works with the Panasonic app, and its not to zoomed in like the 42.5mm. The only bad thing is, there is no image stabilization but you cant complain for the price. If you can, go ahead and add this to your collection.

What a fantastic lens Makes 16MP photos on micro 43 platform look sharp Plastic yes, but metal mount. Lens hood is a plus, I wear it all the time either backwards in storage mode or in use as it protects the lens. Would recommend as your very first prime. No IS though, so be careful not to set your expectations too high if you shoot handheld footage while shaking around in pitch darkness

This is the second time Ive owned this lens. It is very sharp and at F 1.7 the bokeh is very nice for close ups. The only lens thats faster is the 25mm 1.4, which I also owned in the past. Its a great lens, but much heavier than the 1.7. Remember that there is no stabilization, so make sure to use it with a camera that has in body stabilization. Im using mine with the GX 85, which I love. You cant go wrong with this lens. Its affordable, lightweight, and very sharp. I highly recommend.

The mount is metal and, like many good modern lenses, it focuses with its front and back elements remaining stationary. Early photos indicate very good photo quality, though I should put a tripod in the back yard and do some comparisons. And of course its fast. While not compact compared to other micro four thirds lenses in the range from 12 to 60 mm, its lightweight body is probably largely plastic and auto focuses quickly on my Olympus OMD EM1 camera, so I expect it to get regular use. I had a bit of difficulty with removing an ornamental plastic ring that protected the attachments for the included hood, which when not in use fits neatly over the lens body. Its plastic doing a good job of emulating metal. I would note that plastic has become standard for hoods on much more expensive lenses.

Really awesome lens. I am a noviceamateur when it comes to photography and this is my first lens that ive purchased, and first lens that isnt my stock lens. I would highly recommend it to anyone that is trying to get a fast prime lens. Takes really nice and sharp shots.Like i said i am an amateurnovice so i may not have as much of a devoloped eye as someone who has been doing photography for a long time and may not be using this lens to its full capacity but i still feel like it is a awesome lens that is worth having in the arsenal.

I needed a lens for low light and this hit the spot. The bokeh this gives is way beyond what my G7 kit lens could do at f3.5. Its a breeze to focus despite being fly by wire with focus peaking and the ring is nice and smooth. Only downside is that it doesnt have IS and neither does my G7 so shooting handheld video is pretty much not an option. If you have the GH5 or G85 with IBIS it would probably be okay.

I love this lens It gave me low light performance and shallow depth of field at an affordable price on the GH4. I was happy to get this lens because I didnt want to have to buy a pricy speed booster for low light filming. I also didnt want the added weight of a speed booster and big lens for using my image stabilizer. This is definabtly one of my goto lenses now when I reach into my lens kit bag.

Im enjoying having a fast prime lens to go along with the very functional kit lenses I got with my Lumix GX85. For a nonmacro lens, it focuses quite close, which makes it even more useful.I used it recently to photograph my old Canon S100 for sale on ebay Build quality could have been a little stronger, but probably not at this price. At least it does have a metal mount.Didnt use most of the extras, but the air bulb is nice for getting rid of dust, expecially when changing lenses.

Cons I looked at a lot of reviews before buying this lens and all the reviews were good. However I found that this lens suffers from focus shift. That means it doesnt focus accurately. When I googled panasonic 25mm focus shift it returned lots of reports that this is a common problem with this lens

Im using the lens on the GX85 and it is working very well.I have not owned it very long so I have not used it under a variety of circumstances. From what Ive seen so far, it is not that much sharper than the kit lens although that might be my fault but the f1.7 aperture opens up new opportunities and the focus is fast.I especially want to thank the folks at Adorama because after purchasing the lens, I needed to make a change to my order, and all it took was an email and everything was handled efficiently.

It does everything you would expect from a lens with these specifications and for a great price. Another plus is that it is light as a feather because its housing is plastic, but read my first sentence again before you dismiss the lens because of its plastic housing. I seriously considered and niftyfifty and a converter, but the plusses of having a perfectly integrated Panasonic lens led me to buy this lens. It was a good decision for me.

Great lens especially for the price. This is a musthave for enthusiasts, great bokeh, and wide enough to compensate the m43 sensors weakness in lowlight. Nice and light, great for walking around in public taking photos, not to intimidating for onlookers. On par to a niftyfifty when it comes to being a required part of any photographers kit.

I got this lens to use on DJI Inspire 2 X5S camera. The quality is grate. It doesnt require addition rings to stabilize the gimbal. 25mm on MFT sensor size is like 50mm on full frame 35mm sensor size. With this lense I can do great parallax effect flying around objects.

I have the Olympus 45mm 1.8 on my camera but it is too long for indoor shots. I bought this Panasonic lens and the image quality is equivalent to the Olympus 45 but at a focal length more suitable for my indoor shots. It would be nice f it was as small as the Olympus lens but it is still small for what it is. Compare it to a Nikon or Canon lens of the same focal length and fstop. The Nikon or Canon will be much heavier too. I bought this here at BB on sale and what a great deal it was.

BH had it on sale for extremely good price. Much brighter than kit zooms so good for indoor photos without flash. It has nice bokeh and fast autofocus. Ive found it very sharp in centre even wide open, fairly good at edges. Some have complained of flare but I havent experienced any with faint winter sun and it includes nice reversible lens hood. Very light but seems wellconstructed. No stabilisation not an issue of Olympus cameras or case.

I have a G7 and wanted an equivalent 50mm for a light weight carry around combo so I purchased this 25mm f1.7. I have the 14140mm, the 30mm f2.8 macro, and the 42.5mm f1.7. All three have IS the 25mm does not. The sharpness and build quality of the 25mm is good enough for the price I paid but the other three lenses are better lenses. I would not pay full price for the 25mm. Panasonic could have done better on this one especially for the MSRP they are asking.

Although plastic bodied, this lens feels well made with no annoying creaks etc. In normal daylight conditions the image is crisp and clear with no sign of falloff in image quality. In low light, however, there are small signs of CA at the edges when using ISO over 3200. Under that, the image is more than acceptable at this price. As I cannot afford Pro price lenses, this is my goto lens for landscapes.

I recently took this great little lens with me on a trip to Paris and am happy to report that it performed with great results for my required shooting. I shoot as a hobbyist and enjoy street photography, hence why I enjoy using the smaller M43 cameras and lenses for carrying around with me on long days. I have read other reviewers complaining about the build quality of this lens, and I have to admit it is a little on the light side and has the majority of plastic construction. That being said, the performance, optics, and price all make up for it. To keep things short and simple. My experience with this lens has been excellent. Right from the start, getting it at a great price and enjoying the sharp images and quick autofocus, Panasonic made a great little lens.

My original goal to purchase this lens was to have a lens on my Lumix G4 that I could use for any occasion. I carry my G4 in my everyday messenger bag and I did not want to have to exchange lenses or carry multiple lenses with me. I have used it during sunny days, cloudy days, indoors, and evenings. Every single time I am getting spectacular results. Its not very good for selfies though, unless you are looking for a closeup selfie with one spectacular bokeh effect. The Fstops and shutter speeds range will give you the freedom for anything you might want. I must say I have not tried the kit lens the camera included, but honestly I dont feel the need either. Using this lens with the original Olympus OMD EM5.Was not really thrilled with the 14 mm of the same maker and read much about this one David Thorpe, in particular has some interesting arguments on his Youtube videos. While the 14 mm is a nice lens, there was something missing for me. This something is sharpness and detail along with excellent focus ability. But, caution here… when I attached a circular polar filter it seems that focus ability diminished. Admittedly, this is a 77 mm polarizer mounted on a 5277 adapter. I have not had a chance to run backtoback withwithout tests, and I should. The difference seems slight and not very significant just some hunting depending on available contrast.Love the colors, love the simplicity. Its a very capable lens. Not what you want if you focus is your thing, however. I have manual lenses for that.

I use this lens with the Olympus PM2, to take some portrait of my daughter for testing. At f1.7 image is sharp in the middle, and not bad in border area. I use eye detect focusing and it nails the eye in focus. From f2.8 onward detail and very sharp all over the picture, I can say its almost as good as my Nikon D610 with 50mm lens. I am very happy with this lens and will use it for low light and portrait photography.

Everyone will eventually need a 50mm 1.8 for their photography needs. And this very affordable Rome from Panasonic is perfect. The Leica counterpart is more expensive and I have heard this one holds its own quite well. And after trying it for my gh4 and g7, I couldnt agree more. It really is super quick, sharp and crisp. Handles 4K video very well also. Highly recommend this prime.

I have used this lens on an Olympus PEN EP3 and OMD EM1 for about a month. The lens is very light and is built of mostly plastic although, it feels well built. It comes with a hood, that is secure and looks pretty good. The lens opens up to f1.7 which I used often. The pics at f1.7 are good but get sharper by f2.8. Thereafter, I dont notice much increase in sharpness. The lens seems to focus quickly although, I dont know if the lens or camera has more to do with that. Overall, I am happy with the lens, especially at its current price point. I dont have a similar lens to compare it with so I cant do a sidebyside analysis. Would I recommend this lens In short, yes. If you are looking for a normal lens, 50mm fullframe equivalent, and dont want to shell out big bucks, this lens will suit you very well.

This lens will not knock your socks off, but it does get the job done reliably, and is affordable. Bokeh is not very pronounced, and does not look as smooth as other prime lenses. Its a decent walking around, allpurpose lens. Its not something you can pull focus with, but it does work nicely with touchscreen autofocus on the GH4. Its compact and light, so it usually goes in my bag.

Bought this for our Panasonic G7, which is mostly used for making videos. Its very sharp and at 25 mm this is equivalent in Micro FourThirds format to a standard 50mm, the alltime favorite allaround focal length. And at f1.7 its very fast, so I need much less light and can shoot in more settings while keeping my subject cooler. Also the price on sale at BestBuy was unbeatable. No negatives to this lens at all.

This is exactly what it supposed to be a nifty fifty analogue for m43. It works fine on my Oly OMDEm 10, but after an hour or so with it on the camera I found it just a less interesting lens than my trusty old Panny 20mm f1.7 first gen. It is cheaply built, appropriately so, given the price. Its lovely and light. It renders fine. But it feels cheap, and it is, in a sense, too normal. Ill be selling mine on. But for someone who doesnt have this focal length or its near equivalent, this is a lovely way to get a lowlight capable prime for short money.

The LumixG 251.7, new, cost a few dollars less than a used Zuiko 251.8. I cant compare the 2 lenses as I dont have the Zuiko, but the Lumix has certainly not been a disappointment. The high reviews it gets are well deserved.

Id been thinking of getting a 2nd small, fast prime for my m43 system. when I saw this one on sale I thought Id give it a try. It is sharp edge to edge, corner to corner at any f stop. I have absolutely nothing but praise for it. It is exactly what I wanted. I use it for low light situations when traveling with my Olympus 14×150 f4f5.6. Whole kit weighs less than 2lb using my EM1.

I bought this lens to use on my GH5 for low light shooting and it has been very useful for that purpose. The lens is sharp at 1.7 and I can easily get that nice shallow depth of field look. The auto focus is fast quiet, but in my opinion the manual focus by wire doesnt have quite as nice a feel as my other more expensive lenses. It takes a little more finesse with the ring to get critical focus, but its by no means a deal breaker. I love that its so small and light, and I always keep it in my bag, or even just stuff it in my pocket when Im going out to shoot with only my camera. I presently have Panasonics Lumix 12 35 and 35 100 f2.8 zooms, and the Venus Optics Laowa 7.5mm f2 wide angle lens. All great performing lenses that I use a lot and highly recommend, but for the price I think this fun little 25mm lens is the best value out of all of them.

I love this thing. Small, light weight and buttery smooth shallow depth of field, the reason I bought it. It is a fixed focal length, so it is limited in its use. But I love it. For its price I got it for 147.99 its amazing. I know there are better lenses around within the same focal length and aperture range, but they would be at least x3 more expensive. No way they are 3 times better. Its sharp, fast, with beautiful bokeh. I would buy it again for this price.

I purchased this lens to use with my Olympus OMD EM1 Mk II. I needed a fast lens for indoor photos under moderately low light. Although I havent had the opportunity to test the lens under those conditions, but from the tests Ive done I would say the lens more than meets my expectations. The photos taken wide open seem sharp at 100 magnification, from edge to edge. The lens focuses rapidly and works well when put into manual mode. Missing is a depth of field scale, but what can you expect for a lens at this price point. Also, the body of the lens is made of plastic, so I doubt it has the durability of a lens with a metal body like the Olympus pro lenses. But for my purposes and for the price, it is exactly what I was looking for. I am really impressed with this little beauty. After Ive taken more photos with it, I may be ready to up the rating to 5 stars.

This lens is a fantastic deal. Its hard to justify paying more than double the price of this to get the almost perfect Leica branded version. Crisp, sharp images wide open and nice bokeh mean that this thing spends almost all its time right at f1.7. I do see purple fringing in super high contrast areas, and the lens does flare a little, but its super manageable. A lot of people have said the lens feels cheap to me, it feels LIGHT really light, but it is most certainly well made. Fit and finish is great.

Got this when i got an Olympus OMD EM5 Mark II.Lightweight, relatively compact, smooth quick precise autofocus, VERY sharp. Coupled with the incamera IS, fantastically sharp handheld. Ran into another photographer one day we both took snapshots of one another. Zoom in on the shot i took of him from about 5 and you can see the edges on his contact lenses. Hand held. Thats pretty good, especially on a M43 16mp camera. Dont want to post pictures of people without their permission or id post the shot i dont really have any need for the f 1.4 version, this is plenty fast enough on the Olympus excellent low light performance. A very respectable choice for street photography.Plastic Nonissue on this lens as far as im concerned and happy with the light weight.Lens characteristics can subtly impact color rendition i even like the color of this lens and can spot it in some of the sample photos posted here, as if camera settings were on vivid. Personal pref. on that count over samples ive seen from the Panasonic 20mm pancake but to each their own.id also gotten the Olympus 1240mm lens. Nice range and another programmable button and you can shift between manualauto focus with a pull of the focus ring but heavier, bulkier, decidedly not as crisp, spending most of its life in the pouch it came with.im not nuts about the lens hood its deep and narrow and makes putting the lens cap back on a little more fiddly and its length increases opportunity for knocking it against something. i would personally have preferred a collapsible rubber hood.

I bought it while it was on special to compliment my Olympus 12mm. This lens is pretty light but only slightly smaller than Leica version, which is a bit more bigger than the Olympus 25mm 1.8 version. It is plastic fantastic construction but with metal lens mount. Performance wise it is pretty good given the price, give much nicer bokeh than the kit lens, CA seems slightly better than Leica version when full open, focus is fast and silent, but against flare it doesnt seem do to well compare to kit lens. So if you dont have Leica or Olympus version this one is well worth it consider the price advantage, even though it is bigger than Olympus in terms of volume but it is actually lighter.

When I got it, this lens was 150. For the results youre able to extract from this little thing, youd think it was several times the price. I pair mine with the Panasonic Lumix G7 and use it as a niftyfifty because of the MFT crop factor. In small locations with not much space to move around, sometimes I think this lens is just a little bit too tight, so thats something to be aware of if youre debating between this and the Lumix 20mm f1.7. Wide open, you get decent sharpness and beautiful bokeh. Ive found the best balance between bokeh and sharpness is around f3.2 f5.0. Hope this helps.

I am a professional photographer and I love this lens. It is not the Leica 25mm 1.4 nor the 20mm 1.7 but it holds its own. Its autofocus is way faster than the 20mm 1.7, but equally fast to the Leica 25mm 1.4, so if you have the 20mm but cannot afford the Leica, get this one. Great for Stills. Pretty good for video. Not a fan of the focus by wire, but thats the thing nowadays w these low budget native lenses.Very sharp w good color rendition. AF is as fast and accurate as you need it to be in 95 of situations. Lightweight and compact. And hey Panasonic, THANK YOU for including a lens hood. Nothing remarkable about it, but gets the job done quite well for the budget price. No doubt a dependable choice for vloggers, etc. But I personally prefer something like the feel, character and manual pull of a vintage lens. Still, happy to have it when I want that autofocus and full electronic capabilities.

I had been going back and forth on whether to get the PanasonicLeica 25 f1.4 or the Olympus 25 f1.8 for some time when this lens hit the market. Initially I didnt really give it any thought until it went on sale for 99 on black Friday. 99 for a fast prime is a great deal, unbelievable considering it has autofocus tooThe performance is great on my EM5 II, the AF is only a little slower than my 17mm. Im betting this lens focuses best on a Panasonic body MFT lenses seem to work a little better on bodies of the same manufacture. The bokeh is really nice since it has rounded aperture blades, and the colors are pretty good as well.It is very light, since it is made out of plastic. It doesnt feel that solid, but at the same time it doesnt feel cheap either. The focus ring has a very nice feel to it. Nicer than my Olympus 17mm f1.8 for sure. It does seem to have trouble autofocusing at short distances for some reason, but it will happily focus to its 0.25m minimum distance manually.Overall, its a great addition to my lens selection and it surely will be to yours. At its normal price I feel its a little too expensive for what you get, but Im sure you can catch it on sale. The ideal normal price for this lens should be somewhere around . And, of course, if you see it as low as dont think, just buy

I dont have the budget to spend 500 on good glass, but Ive been very pleased with this 25mm f1.7 lens. It is fast, sharp and has decent bokeh. It was actually video shot with this lens that convinced me to keep the Panasonic GX85 I was testing. It is plastic and not weathersealed, but with the impressive performance of this lens, I think it is about the best value out there for MFT cameras. Highly recommended. One other thought… I often wish this were just a little wider, especially for some video work. I could have gone for the 20mm, but this is much cheaper, and I believe I recall from reviews that autofocus on this is actually much faster than the 20mm, so the tradeoff is worth it.

This lens is a nice way to fill a niche in your bag. It has a nice wide aperture to provide excellent depth of field options and great lowlight use. My only complaint is that it feels kinda flimsy. Very light weight, which is good, but on the other hand it feels lightweight. Nothing about it feels reasurringly solid. Thats not to say it is shoddy or poorly built, just that it has less of a highlevel feel than some of my other lenses. But given the price maybe thats to be expected. Well see how it plays out as I use it more.

Great lens for a great price Good in low light, very crisp. Bokeh is amazing on this guy. The lens hood DOES fit on, just unscrew the plastic ring at the front of the lens. I just wish it had the same stabilization as my 14140 f 3.5 5.6 kit lens.

This camera is a fantastic entry level camera for both video and stills. The M43 mount and sensor is slightly limiting, but for 95 of most users out there not using higher end gear, this will be more camera than they can probably use. The video capabilities are fantastic. The only downside to this camera is that the G85 is now out, and it comes with In Body Stabilization and doesnt have a limit on record time in video.

Purchased this as my first prime lens for GX85, so I dont really have anything to compare it to. Definitely an upgrade over my kit lens. Nice shallow depth of field. Plastic but great build quality Great price when on sale

One of my favourite lenss. Easy to use, relatively well made. Really good if you are looking for the boke effect in both video and photos. Using it with My Lumix G7 for a vlog I do. Havent needed another lens for this since. And in comparison to some of the other Lenses on the market this one is great for the price range. Almost the cheapest Lens you can get for my camera. Win win Highly recommend to anyone. Cons I would say are because it has a fixed focal range you cant zoom in and out using the lens, You might have a digital zoom you can use though. This can be tricky if you have a limited space to shoot your shot, as if you are too close to the camera you are likely to not fit within the frame and again if you are to far away you have to physically move the camera closer to get the shot you want. This might get in the way of other camera angels OR be completely inconvenient to everything and everyone around it. Not really a problem if its your only shooting from one angle at a time OR space isnt an issue. I was able to make it work in a room 3mx3m even with the additionally Lighting, backdrop, Sound gear, a desk to sit at. If your sitting on the wall, give this a shot. Best purchase Ive made in a while.

Really happy with this lens. That I paid so little for it compared to my other lenses only underscores what a great value it is. It doesnt have weathersealing or nanocoating or stabilization… but it takes great pictures and focuses quickly, which means it scores points where it counts.

Ive read and watched numerous reviews on what a Second Lens should be for a Lumix G series MFT camera and this always seemed to come up. I chose this over the 20mm, for low light outdoor video and photography. So far so good. I love how fast the auto focus is and how you can control depth of field easily with the manual focus.

This is a fantastic lens and value. I have used this for both photo and video in low light conditions, and I could not be more pleased with its performance. Besides exceptional performance it is small, lightweight and quiet so it an be used with the on camera mics. The low price for such an exceptional lens is simply icing on the cake.

Im an Olympus shooter, but BB had this lens on sale for 149 and I just happened to need a 25MM M43 lens with a large aperture. I have taken about 300 shots with the lens and the results are very pleasing. I see a little bit of corner softness when I get around F4, but nothing that you could tell unless you are super critical. I have had no major issues with chromatic aberations or Flare, but I did not shoot at the sun or super bright lights a lot given the portrait value of this lens. Im extremely happy with it given its price, especially against the 349 Oly lens. You cant beat the bang for the buck on this one. I have a lot of the Oly Pro lenses and those are fantastic, but you are talking 1K per pop on those. Only drawback on this is that it is not weather sealed like the Pros, but for 149, you cant beat it.

Pros Must have lens for street photography portraits plus the ability to use in low lights situations. Youll need to support the camera on tripot if you need perfection on slow shutter speeds. Body quality of lens are top notch and compares with expensive lenses in micro four thirds world.Cons I cannot fault it in anyway

Some people find this focal length boring, but I dont. It can be used on the street, zone focused with no hesitation, just frame quickly and shoot at F1116 yeah diffraction but its OK cause to begin with the lens is sharp Or to isolate background it focuses very fast on my Oly bodies at lower F stops, and to top it off it is great in low light, sharp wide open. I got it from BH on sale, but to be honest the cost doesnt matter. It may not be the Panasonic Leica 25mm 1.4 but its a darned good lens at any price.

Pros Great cheap lens for lowlight shooting, reasonably sharp and easy to use. Good build quality with a metal mount. The lens is small and light, so far a great addition to kit lenses on my Olympus OM D10 II.Cons Apart from the mount, all plastic and will need to be treated with care. Although , for the price, this is to be expected.

I bought this lens for my Olympus Pen camera as a portrait lens to take pictures of my kids. I was debating between this and the similar Olympus lens which is around 300, but when this went on sale, it was an easy decision. My wife and I are very happy with this purchase as the low f1.7 takes very sharp images with good bokeh. It also takes excellent low light images without any flash. My only minor complaint is that the AF is a bit slower than I would like but it is acceptable.

Nice prime lens equivalent to 50mm. Much sharper and having a 1.7 aperture really helps with low light situations vs the kit lenses. Works great on my panasonic GX85. Getting the filters, lens keeper, and other items is a nice bonus.

Was trying to decide between a prime or zoom for my first lens after spending a lot on the G9. This lens with f1.7 allows for great background bokeh at wide open and appears crisp to my untrained eye. Ive been using for portrait and landscape shots. Still having trouble getting a series of high speed bursts consistently in focus but I think that is more of me learning how to use it than the actual gear. The bundle that Adorama includes is an awesome value and will definitely look to them for future purchases.

I was looking for an alternative to the 14150 II that I currently use on my Olympus EM10 II while hashing hiking, and decided to look at the prime offerings from both Olympus and Panasonic, primarily because most of the images I was taking appeared to be at the wide end of my lens zoom range, and the main problem I was running into was excessive noise under low light conditions. I already have the Olympus 17mm F1.8, but that was a bit too wide for my needs, so I started looking at the 25mm primes. There is a significant cost different between the Panasonic 25mm F1.7 prime and the Olympus 25mm F1.8 prime, so I opted to try out the Panasonic. Its only been a short while, but so far Im very happy with my choice. The TStop rating according to the DXOMark website is 2.0, which is the same as the Olympus 17mm F1.8 so I expected the same level of low light performance. So far my testing and use of the lens suggests that this is the case.

I bought this lens for my wifes Lumix G7 and she loves this lens. Now she can shoot in low light. For the price , the aperture and sharpness of the lens cant be beat by any other lens. Please be aware that this lens is made for the amateur who wants a fast lens. Dont try to campare the quality to high end lenses in full frame cameras. In my humble opinion, you get much more for what you pay for.

I probably should have asked for extra off because it was missing the lens cap and base cap, but the package said it was in excellent condition and that there werent any missing accessories.Overall its a very good prime. Im really happy with how fast this lens is for the price. It isnt the sharpest or smallest, but Im happy with the 50mm equivalent focal length and it is nice and bright, light, and has a smooth focus ring. It seems like a nobrainer to add to your M43 collection to get a great normal prime that fits the budget way better than any of the kit zooms. This would probably be my first recommendation to anybody looking for their first prime for M43. I also hear great things about the 20mm f1.7, but I managed to get this on sale for about 12 the cost.

I have been using this lens for a few month now. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by its performance. It does really well in low light situations. The bokeh is decent but might leave something to be desired for some. It focuses very quickly and accurately even wide open. I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a 25mm on a budget, however I think it is still worth it for the more expensive options.

it looks cheap and unappealing but it really is a great lens for the money, i shoot concerts and its a great addition. fast, great in low light. stills and video are clear and crisp. for 250 its an absolute steal of a lens. if i could change one thing about it it would simply be its physical design, it looks like you got it out of a happy meal because of the plastic but if it does the job, who cares.

Just got this for my GH4. I have the 12 35 2.8 and wanted to get something a little faster with better bokeh. I love this lens. Super sharp very lightweight and much better bokeh than the 1235 2.8. Construction is cheap and its all plastic except the flange but for the price thats not an issue. As an FYI the diameter of the lens is smaller than the 1235 so any lens caps or nd filters are not going to be compatible.

I bought the Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f1.7 Lens to go with my new Panasonic GX85. The picture and video quality was a huge improvement versus the included kit lens. I recommend every MirrorLess or DSLR Camera owner should at least have one Prime Lens with an F stop lower than two such as this one in their kit. The picturesvideos are sharper and clearer. Also you can take nice Bokah type photos and video. The Lumix G 25mm lens is equivalent to a full frame DSLRs 50mm prime lens also known as the nifty fifty. This is the lens most m43 users have been hoping for. It focuses blazingly fast on my EM1 and the signature high contrast and sharp IQ I know from panasonic primes is ever present. It may be a little softer in the corners, and perhaps not as razor sharp as the highly regarded Pansonic Leica 25mm f1.4, but at the amazing price and offered this is a must have lens for the system. Portrait and street shooters will eat this up, and the close focus distance is ideal for product shots also. Size is larger than the panasonic 20mm f1.7 but smallerthan the Previously mentioned 25mm. It includes a nice hood that is reversable also.

Plastic so durability is always an issue but to counter that it is very very light. Since youll be at risk of dropping it when changing enses beware. Otherwise it is amazing 1 very low distortion at about 1 2 quick AF speed 3 add a 46mm 4 closeup lens and its a capable closeup lens Issues to think over 1 vignetting is 11.5 stops so use a post process correction to correct this 2 to get the sharpness, it has eight elements in seven groups, including two aspherical lenses to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations BUT this drops light transmission compared to a simple 45 element standard lens DXO measures this as a Tstop of 1.9 which is dated as worse than average I also have a Mieke full manual metal bodied and mounted 25mm designed for micro 43 search eBay for one. Chosing which one to use on paper should be easy the lumix wins but in reality, if the AF is not crucial to you the competetion is close

I want to love this lens but Im wary. Images are good but the autofocus is all over the place, hunting and not settling down. Ive switched to single focus with this lens on my GH5 because continuous autofocus is a mess. I got this lens to use for shooting indoors, hand held, low light. It does the job with good results. I however generally use my 1235mm f2.8 panasonic zoom. It produces near equivalent quality with the flexibility of a zoom lens. Does cost a lot more, but worth the money in my opinion.

For the price and weight and performance, this is a great lens. Its maybe a little soft wide open, but Im doing mostly portraits at that aperture with this lens, and dont want things too sharp anyway. For my tastes, it softens the somewhat harsh look of my Panasonic Lumix G7 just enough so that I dont have to change the camera sharpness settings which I might want sharper for, say, architecture. Another great this is the autofocus is very quiet, compared to some of the cheap 50mm DSLR lenses Ive used. It weighs next to nothing, and looks kinda cool with the gray text on it. So Im happy I bought it.

Worth every penny for what it is. I am just getting started in photography and videography. I am definitely not an expert and I wont comprehensively review everything about this lens. For example, I havent used its autofocus at all because I frankly dont care about it. I bought this lens for video I had the idea that it would be good for medium to close shots, especially when the subject is to be isolated from the rest of their environment. Now that I have it on my camera and Im taking some still shots, it is great for what I wanted, or at least for the medium shots. It seems to have a fairly long minimum focusing distance so you cant get super close. Im also noticing that there is no way Im going to get away with using this for video if it isnt on a tripod. Without any stabilization at all on a Lumix G7 body, you practically need it on a tripod just to take still photos. I dont even think it will be usable with outside, mechanical stabilization like a steadicam. Overall its a great lens for how little youre paying.

I returned this lens within two days of owning it. Focus is slow, picture quality is marginal. Very cheaply built, low quality. I have some manual focus Chinese made lenses and they are much higher quality than this yet cost very little to own. Stay away from this lens, it is not as bright as advertised.

This lens produces an excellent image. I use it for product shots in my video work and am really happy with the image quality Sharp, detailed, and I can get excellent bokeh when I open up the aperture. It looks so good that a photographer friend asked me if I started using a new camera for my Broll because this lens produces such a superior image than my main lens.ConsFocus by wire. Hitting focus is a constant game of over correction. Especially when Im rack focusing in videos. Hitting my focus with the little screen on my camera is clunky and the focus point is never in the same location twice.Build feels cheap. Granted it is a cheap lens that produces great images so I get it.Thoughts I wish there was a true manual focus lens for MFT that didnt cost 900. I guess Speed booster and some canon glass is going to be the answer. The focus is so annoying I almost marked this 3 stars, but the image and price point is so good that I left it at 4.

I love this lens. I cant spent several hundreds or even thousands, so I appreciate a good quality bit of kit when I can get it. For what I like to do, street photography, this ticks every box fast focusing, effectively 50mm in a 43 camera, and nice thin depth of focus to isolate subject. Even the colour and image quality competes with more expensive lenses.

Great prime lens for a great price. I was looking for a 25mm nifty fifty for my MU43 system and was waiting for this to come out. I did not want to compromise the DFD focusing speed and this lens delivers, and focus as fast as I can frame a scene. However, you can hear the shutterfocusing mechanism in a very quiet environment, but very faint. The construction is similar to the new pany 42.5mm f1.7. The texture is matte and nice to the touch but feels very plastic but seems durable, which is fine for me as I would not want any extra weight in my bag, so its great for travelling. However, it is still larger than the Oly 25mm or the Pany 42.5mm f1.7, especially when the lens hood is kept in reverse. Sharpness is great for a 16mp sensor, and I dont have to explain how versatile is the 25mm or 50mm is for general photography. Attached below are some sample pictures. CA control is good and no purple fringe not that noticeable. Personally, the aperture of 1.7 or Olys 1.8 range of prime lens is just nice for open wide for bokeh effect. Not too soft and just enough subject separation. Overall great bang for buck and itll stay with me for a while

Ive only had this a couple weeks, but so far it has lived up to both its reputation and my expectations. Sufficiently sharp I havent spent hours pixel peeping though and generates nice images, and a great value. I find I like using this better than my first gen Panasonic 20mm F.17 as it focuses much quicker and I am willing to sacrifice the slightly wider FOV for the focus speed.

Great lens and even better value. The Panasonic 25mm f1.7 is the nifty fifty for the MFT format. The autofocus is fast opposed to the slow AF of the 20mm f1.7, and still very compact and lightweight. Just buy this lens you wont regret it.

The Lumix G 25mm f1.7 is a really nice lens. Its my first prime lens for my Lumix G7 camera, and I am enjoying using it. The bokeh is really smooth and nicely defocuses the background. Low light shooting is easier with this lens than with my 1442mm f3.55.6. Yes, the exterior is made of plastic with a metal lens mount but the lens feels sturdy and well made. It also comes with a lens hood, which is a nice extra. The lens can accept threaded filters although I dont recall which size. Overall, a nice lens purchase that Im happy with.

Its not amazing because of the price tag, its amazing for the way itll change the look of your images from the moment you snap it onto the camera. It really sharpened the images on my Lumix G7 and gave me the nice blurred background that myself and my clients wanted to see. f1.7 aperture really helps with low light shots and its also very lightweight so that helps with those day long shoots of handheld video recording. Overall, Im super happy with this lens and highly recommend it for beginners and pros alike.

This lens is excellent Just get it Even not considering the low onsale price, I find this lens a superb value. It is sharp at all aperture openings, it is fast enough to isolate a subject from the background, it has a very useful close focus range note that it is not a macro lens, auto focus with my Panasonic GX7 is as fast as any lens I have and I own 5 other Lumix lenses, and surprise to me at this price range, it has a metal bayonet mount. I am a prime lens lover, and the niftyfifty viewpoint is just so versatile. I have used the Lumix 20mm f1.7 pancake lens for several years. This 25mm f1.7 is just plain better in every performance parameter. Sure, it is a bit larger, but compared to most zooms, it is still very small and very light. Only negative is the lens hood it is huge. It stays in the box and instead, I use a compact metal 46mm threadin hood.

Incredibly light lens for starters, an excellent addition to my clutch of 3 Panasonic lenses. Amazingly, as those who have gone down the 43 route will know, the whole of my kit probably weighs no more than my aps Nikon standard lens. It is too early for me to give a full review as I havent had the lens for long. The manual focus is excellent, especially when the focus is set to spot because the image enlarges to confirm focus. The embellishment ring on the front of the lens was vey difficult to get off dont really know why its included. The lens is a good buy

The Panasonic Lumix G 25mm F1.7 is rather big compared to other MFT lenses. It is only a little smaller than the Panasonic Leica 25mm F1.4 and it is significantly longer than the Olympus 25mm F1.8. But overall the Panasonic 25mm F1.7 is still a compact lens. The lens mount is made of metal, but the rest of the lenses exterior is made of plastic. Im from Australia and got this beauty for only AUdelivered, and its a corkerI also have the Olympus 25mm 1.8 for MFT. I like the Oly one better for its shape and its slightly more compact. Havent closely checked the IQ but on face value only taken a few shots on the Lumix they seem the same. Nice bokeh on both of them if you get close to the supject. I remember the Oly had a very smooth but sharp look to its images, will have to test out the Lumix to see if it has the same. I also have a Lumix 20mm 1.7 which produces a sharper image than the Oly and hence does not have that smoothness in IQ of the Oly which i like if u know what I mean. Conclusion If you can get for …BUY IT If you can get it for about 25 cheaper than the Oly, again buy it. But get the oly if its a lens you are going to use all the time or if the Lumix is only a bit cheaper.Cooee

I wanted to give this lens a 5star rating, the lens hood that was included was faulty. Though it seems like it would fit, theres no way that you can twist it on like other lens hoods. It just falls off. I even tried removing my UV lens filter in thought that that could be the issue, but no luck. Hopefully this doesnt happen to others. Still would recommend this very little, yet powerful lens

The Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f1.7 G Aspherical Lens is very light and compact. It has no on lens controls so all settings are done in camera. The largeish aperture makes it a good inexpensive lens for night sky photography and it could be an adequate portrait lens as it has a pleasing bokeh. That being said, I made the, perhaps unfair, comparison with the Olympus 12100mm pro, set at 25 mm. The autofocus is fast with both lenses but the sharpness of the Olympus was much better. If it werent for this, I would give it a 5 star review. At this price point, perhaps one cant expect that level of sharpness. After further consideration, I decided to compare it to all of the lenses that I have with a 25mm capability and a few that where larger primes. Of all the lenses I own, the Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f1.7 G Aspherical Lens was the softest focus. It would be a good budget portrait lens or do in circumstances where weight is an important consideration.

This lens is very light even though it looks like it would be on the heavy side but, being that its a micro four thirds lens its not. The image quality is really sharp and it is good in low light. This is a good buy for panay and lympus cams

I have been looking for an affordable fast prime lens but most of the stuff I see online that were within my budget were mostly china brands. I found the Lumix G 25mm f1.7 and went to youtube to look at some reviews and found a lot of positive comments so I went ahead and bought it. I know a lot of people may not like this lens bec the outer part is made of plastic but I like how that makes it very light and portable. The size is also perfect so i can take my small camera bag and bring this plus another lens with me without my bag getting really heavy.I have been trying it out and ive been getting amazing pictures out of it. Im still on the process of playing around with it as Im still a beginner but I am already loving it. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants an affordable fast prime lens thats also quite portable.
