This lens pairs perfectly with the S5, the IS helps a lot while shooting hand held at the 300mm range. This lens is Sharp, produces great Bokeh, it is nothing like other zoom lenses I have use in the past at this price point. BH did a great job keeping me updated with the shipping progress.

I preordered this lens on April 8th and it finally arrived on July 16th and IT WAS WORTH THE WAITPROSSuper Fast Focus on my S5Nice weight and size, feels like it was made for the S5Solid construction even though not a Pro Series LensOIS with Body IS gives an incredible use of a shutter speed that is 5.5 fstopsBeautiful bokeh over the entire zoom rangeIt really is a Macro lens, not 11 but VERY close, AmazingOverall Color capture is excellentConvenient Switches for Focus Limit, Zoom Lock, O.I.S and AFMF switch with a nice feature of an raised dot to let you know where that is without having to remove my eye from the viewfinder when I want to change to Manual FocusWeather SealedPanasonic hit a HOME Run with this lensOh and Preordering got me the Instant 250.00 savings but even at the current price it is well worth it and I would buy it.Cons Really nothing, some would say the f4.5 but a larger aperture would just bring more bulk, weight and cost and with the Dual IS and 5.5 stops for me f4.55.6 is not an issueThe attached photos are just some quick shots after I took it out of the box, nothing fancy but you will see just how diverse this gem is. Straight from the camera except the Gold Finch which was cropped file size reduced by 10.

I bought this for my CL for landscapes and architecture. I do not know if it has enough range for birding, but it is relatively light and compact for my purposes. Easy to handhold with outstanding image stabilization. The image stabilization will use up the CL battery quickly so have a spare ready. I use it with the shutter on electronic to avoid shutter slap. With modern cameras having the ability to shoot higher ISO, the aperture is wide enough. I had tested this versus the Sigma 100400 and found this the better lens on a CL by far for me.

Those considering this lens have to make a concession of weight for brightness. This lens is lighter and cheaper than a comparable 2.8. And, it has an 11 blade aperture which makes for great bokeh. How does it performIve only shot a couple of hundred shot with it so far but I find the results really outstanding. It controls flare well and has wonderful bokeh. For shots outside its awesome. For indoors youre going to need some light. The lens is a quality product and feels solid but not as heavy as expected.I recommend this lens to those who are shooting outdoors for my landscape comrades, its great.Dan

After waiting 5 months for delivery a couple of things struck me when first using this lens…. the reasonable price and its lightweight versatility while maintaining deep saturated color. It also has really nicely balance pleasing contrast and superb center sharpness along with accurate fast autofocus. I shot mainly .5X macro tests on flowers along with a few shots at infinity, all at 300mm wide open at f 5.6. Impressive lens, since I shot the same subjects with the superb Lumix Pro S 50mm f1.4 , the Leica Summilux macro 28mm f1.7 and the 24105mm f4 Panasonic macro, all wide open at max. aperture. Surprisingly, this lens had VG microcontrast, accurate full color and near excellent sharpness when compared to the 50mm and 28mm. It blew the 24105mm out of the water in macro detail. Attached are the 300mm f5.6 snaps I made assuming they download. This is a great lens addition that I can easily see used for sports Excellent colorcontrast or shooting macros . Stopped down lens produces 80 of microcontrast detail in textures compared to the fantastic Leica. So far Panasonic is 100 for quality control and build.
