Description
LUMIX S 24mm F1.8 is a large-diameter wide lens compatible with all L-mount cameras for maximum versatility, yet it has a compact size and weight. It features a common size and position of control parts with the other series of F1.8 lenses, with a center of gravity that is almost the same, so it is easy to exchange lenses quickly with minimum balance adjustment when the camera is on a gimbal. Common filters can also be used thanks to the same diameter. The descriptive performance of these lenses is also consistent. This lens is comprised of 12 lens elements in 11 groups including 3 aspherical lenses, 3 ED lenses and 1 UED lens. The use of three aspherical lenses realizes both high descriptive performance and beautiful bokeh, which are common advantages to the series of all F1.8 lenses. It is suitable for many different situations, from landscapes to snapshots, taking advantage of the wide angle of view. The ED lenses and the UED lens effectively suppress chromatic aberration. The LUMIX S 24mm F1.8 is capable of smooth, silent operation to work with the camera’s high-speed, high-precision contrast AF system with the sensor drive at max. 240 fps. It also excels in video recording performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a fatal problem of all interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography. Together with a micro-step aperture control for smooth exposure change, professional quality video can be recorded. NOTICES AND DISCLAIMERS: * Dust- and splash-resistant does not guarantee that damage will not occur if this lens is subjected to direct contact with dust and water.

This is the second lens I bought for my Lumix S5 having previously bought the 70-300mm to go with the 20-60mm kit lens. Whilst using these two lenses, I found myself often wanting to swith between the two when I was out on a hike because I either needed that extra bit of reach beyond 60mm or that the 70 was just not quite wide enough to get what I wanted in the image. I made do with the inconvenience for quite some time as lenses are expensive but I finally decided to bite the bullet and get this lens and I’m really glad I did. I find the image quality to be fantastic. Yes, there may well be other, sharper lenses out there but if there are, I’m guessing they’re the ones that cost nearly £2k and I don’t have that kind of money. That said, I find this lens to have excellent image quality and sharpness. It has a fabulously versatile focal range and now when I’m out hiking, I rarely feel the need to take any other lenses out with me – this one does most of what I need it to. For landscapes, the f4 aperture is more than enough and I find that together with the S5’s excellent low light capability, I get enough light into the camera in almost all situations so that I can get a good image. Also, the image stabilisation when coupled with the camera’s IS is excellent and a must for someone like me who didn’t have the steadiest hands. It’s not the lightest of lenses but is also not inordinately heavy either. It feels perfectly balanced to me when attached to the S5. It is also weather sealed so is dust and splash resistant which fills me with confidence to keep shooting in spells of light rain. I am very happy with this lens and I’m sure most other people would be. 2 people found this helpful

Excellent weight Perfect focal range – the 20mm on the wide end is plenty for vlogging and talking-head videos in smaller spaces. Great value for money, particularly used. Good build quality – Lumix S-series lenses are fantastic. Shame about the variable aperture….

July 2021 Size Name: 20-60mm Zoom Excellent lens and images are nice and sharp too. The video is beautiful when it’s teamed up with a LUMIX S1 or Sigma fp . I use it for video more than photography as it has okay constant tracking autofocus. 2 people found this helpful

I recently purchased the Panasonic LUMIX S 24mm f/1.8 lens for my S5II camera, and I’m absolutely thrilled with its performance. This lens is a true gem in the Lumix lineup, and here’s why: Low Light Mastery: The f/1.8 aperture is a game-changer for low light photography. It allows me to capture stunning images in dimly lit environments without sacrificing quality. The amount of light this lens can gather is simply remarkable. Razor-Sharp Images: From edge to edge, the sharpness is good. Whether I’m shooting landscapes or portraits, the clarity and detail this lens renders are second to none. It’s a level of consistency that I can rely on for every shot. Uniformity with S Series: This lens fits seamlessly into the S series ecosystem. Its build and image quality are on par with the other prime lenses in the series, making it a easily swappable on my gimbal with minimum rebalancing required. Compact and Lightweight: The lens’s design is thoughtful, providing a lightweight and compact form factor that doesn’t compromise on quality. It’s a joy to carry around, and it’s always ready for action. Build Quality: The construction is solid, and it feels durable in hand. It’s a lens that I’m confident will withstand the rigors of frequent use. The Panasonic LUMIX S 24mm is a great lens that delivers good low light performance as prime lenses often do, outstanding sharpness and a major plus regarding the uniformity with other S series lenses. Highly recommended!

August 2023 Size Name: 24-105mm Zoom I have been using this lens for a few weeks now. It’s versatile and the video and picture quality is great. I was particularly impressed with the lens image stabilisation – it’s awesome. But it’s a bit of a heavy beast

October 2023 Size Name: 35mm Fixed It’s good to finally have a reasonable price on some fast primes. Now obviously there are the more expensive pro versions but these are a must have to achieve nice depth of field and allowing more light in. 4 people found this helpful

Bought the Panasonic S5 and found it a little too small for my large hands. So then purchased the S1R camera and wanted a native prime lens for when I didn’t want to carry the kit 24-105 lens with me. Although not used much the performance of the lens seems excellent and compares with the Nikon 85mm 1.8 lens I used on my D850/810. Will try some more primes as I will invest into the system. 6 people found this helpful
