I compared this with full frame canon lenses and I saw no difference, so I sold all my full frame canon stuff and moved into the micro 43 world. Much lighter wo loosing much image quality. You must know that only a few micro 43 lenses are really good… and its hard to swallow because the good ones are more expensive that the cameras… so dont change systems for the money… do it for the fact that they are much lighter.

Whilst I havent used this lens a lot yet from what I have done with it I am very happy. Very easy to get blurred out background portrait type shots at reasonably close range. Good size to carry around in a handbag etc as needed even in a bumbag. Suggest a UV filter to protect lens from unintended scratches etc.

I use this lens for general shooting as well as for portraits. It is absolutely sharp I have to turn down the default sharpening in all of the pictures I take with this lens The AF is very quiet it was hard to get used to when I first bought the lens because I didnt think it was focusing. The focus ring is very smooth, especially compared to other focusbywire lenses Ive used. Im not that bummed about the lack of a lens hood, since I havent observed any flaring, and usually have an ND filter on the front protecting the front element anyways. I bought this when Olympus was having the lens rebates, so for , Im really blown away by the 45mm and I couldnt ask for more.

Confidence inspiring In fact I just purchased yet a third Micro 43 camera with 3 additional lenses and ditched my idea of going along with the full frame craze as this lens opened my eyes as to the potential of this system with using great lenses. Ive used it also for video with wonderful results. in one word Magic

Exceptional lens for the price. Images are super sharp and focusing when attached to my OMD M1 mkiii is almost instantaneous.

My favorite and most used lens on my Olympus OMD em5 mark ii. Sharp as a tack and just works great. Made me love m43 for the ease and joy of the system. Highly recommend. Just be sure to test it for decentering because fast primes can be spotty this way.

Sharp and crisp but even more important to me is the nice micro contrast, plus I dont care for over saturation in photos so I like the accurate colors Olympus gives right out of the box that require very little post processing. I shoot 99 RAW. I do wish it had the ring that the 17mm 1.8 has that makes it so easy to switch to manual focus. Also wish it came with center pinch lens cap. Only 4 stars because Im a tough grader.

Well built even though it is made of plastic rather than metal. Unlike the kit lenses that have plastic mounts, this guy has a metal one. It is very small and light weight. It has an extra tight fit to the body and talk about sharp…this lens lets you see the blood vessels in the eyes crisp as can be. Cant ask for any better images rich color, sharp as a tack. Extra fast focusing…BAM, its there

I bought this lens for my olympus EPL1. I also have the lumix 20mm, olympus 1250mm, olympus 40140mm. The olympus 45mm is is my favorite, it is super sharp, gives great short field of depth with soft background. Great colour in bright light and works well in low light without the flash. Its good for portrait and landscape. I think it is better than the panasonic 20mm, which says A LOT. The only thing that would stop this being the default lens I have on the body is if olympus brought out a 25mm f1.8 Hope this helps, Mike.

Im in the process of building up an Olympus 43 lens set for my OMD EM1 I gave myself for Christmas. I currently have the 1240 2.8, the 60mm macro, the 40150 45.6, and this 45mm 1.8. Now admittedly my 75mm 1.8 isnt here yet, but after some pixel peeping with the glass I have, Ive concluded the 45mm 1.8 is the sharpest lens Ive personally used to date. And that includes my fleet of pro nikkor lenses as well. This dinky little 45mm lens made me chuckle when I put it on my camera, but man does it deliver the goods. Get this glass. You wont regret it.

I am very pleased with this lens. I thought after owning the 60mm f2.8 Macro and the 25mm f1.8 that this would be rather redundant, but the 45mm fills a nice void that I simply cant get easily with the other two lenses. Impressive is an understatement. Minimum colour fringing and very sharp.
