The shipment was on time and the package was properly handled. The item was exactly as it was advertised. But unfortunately most reviews that I read are right, this batteries drain a lot faster than the ones I have on my dslr.

By now, Im really familiar with the number of batteries I need to take with me when I go on trips when I take what I think are a lot of photos. Ive learned this from taking a variety of cameras over the years with me on my trips and vacations. And, the magic numbers always been three proprietary batteries or three sets if the camera used AAs. Well, I just got back from a twoweek vacation and took my normal I think large number of large file photos and never had to resort to the third of the three Olympus BLS50 LithiumIon Batteries that I took with me. I believe thats pretty impressive.

  13. blank

    Brian

I dont know the actual battery life of the OMD M10, as its new to me and I tend to drain the battery in just a couple of days of shooting and experimentation and discovery. So its been very helpful to have a spare handy.

Although the Olympus e m10 doesnt go through batteries like some of my other cameras. An extended day of shooting requires an extra battery

The battery does what it needs to do, and you can trust that it will not swell in your camera like alternative brands. It charges reasonably fast and last a long time in standby and through many pictures.I was using it on a road trip over four days hundreds of pictures, some video, reviewing, and leaving it on sleep mode and I didnt see the battery low until I was home and the battery was already being used lightly before the trip.I bought the battery as an extra to switch out but it did well on its own.

In years past, Ive used combinations of manufacturer batteries like this one and aftermarket types. I havent had any issues. However, when looking at the available aftermarket batteries and chargers for these, it looks like the aftermarket folks simply chose to ignore the extra safety features that Oly insisted go into this battery type, and continue to utilize 2pin chargers even for these 4contact batteries. Much as I hate to pay Olys price for this battery, I wont be buying another brand until the other guys up their engineering game and match Olys features.

Excellent as second battery for my Olympus mirorless camera Identical with the one that the original package is providing. For me, it holds up 1.5 days of shooting. Usually, more than 700 frames no flash, high quality JPEG, using viewfinder for 50 of the time.

I was thankful to find a replacement battery for my PEN EPL1, since Olympus stopped offering it. I am buying another one so Ill have two. This is much, much better than the cheap knockoff battery I bought from another site. This is actually an Olympus battery.

I bought this as a second battery for my OMD EM10 Mark III. So far I havent needed to use a second battery on my street shoots, as I get enough shots out of a single battery charge over the course of a day. That demonstrates the value of this battery, since my primary one is the same model.Pros lasts a long time fairly quick to chargeCons doesnt power my portable waffle maker not the most inspiring color Note Actually I dont own a portable waffle maker. Note Since the batterys mostly hidden inside my camera or, by analogy, inside yours, I dont care about its color.

I placed the order on New Years Eve and received the battery 3 business days later, great service in light of the holiday. The battery itself is just ok, needing recharging too frequently as does the one that came with the camera.

  42. blank

    Jeffrey

Ive tried many different 3rd party batteries over the years and they never work as well as OEM batteries. Third party batteries often swell, not give as many shots, or just wear out much faster than OEM and with the tiny batteries used in Olympus cameras this issue seems worse then in my Nikon, Canon, and Pentax cameras. The Olympus BLH1 is too small for the camera and doesnt give enough shots but otherwise its the safest and best one for the EM1.2. Still, its quite pricy for such a small battery most OEM batteries seem overpriced and this one is certainly no exception. So one star taken for costing over twice as much as it should.

  43. blank

    Glenn

My first order for a BLS50 arrived dead and would not charge. The return process was fast and easy and I got a gift card for its value. I ordered again and this one works perfectly so far.

  45. blank

    Michael

What can you say about a battery It works It seems to recharge fast enough but seems to run down quickly. The charger is massive, with awkwardly thick plug wiring which seems to fight any attempt to coil or fold it up. Im a minimalist shooter so for me that mean Ill have to carry a separate bag to transport the charger.

  46. blank

    Andrew

Not much to be said, it is the spare Olympus BLS50 battery needed. I would not go out for a day without a spare. If there was a good alternative I would consider it, this one seems a bit costly, but I know it does the job. I use it with new OMD Em5 markIII.

  47. blank

Consider buying several extra batteries. Especially useful when learning how to use all the new camera features you will burn through a battery quickly. Quoted test results indicated battery lasts for 444 shots but I understand this testing is done with use of flash and a lot of LCD review time. Real life you will probably get many more shoots for each battery.Camera has a very detailed measure of battery life on the screen so as to prevent sudden surprises that your battery is dead. The extra battery has a great plastic case so it is easy to carry several in your pocket or vest.

  48. blank

    Stephen

It works fine, but a full charge doesnt last that long.

  50. blank

Ive learned through experience that Third Party batteries, even from reliable brand names like Duracell, dont perform as reliably as the genuine camera original equipment manufacturerbranded batteries OEM. Not just in terms of never seeming to hold a charge as long as OEM, despite often claiming to hold more charge, but particularly in terms of very noticeably losing performance after a few chargerecharge cycles. If it wasnt for that second problem then batteries which are often a third of the price of OEM or less, but which need recharging far more frequently, would be an acceptable tradeoff. But what I find happens is that even with the topname Third Party suppliers such as Duracell, Hhnel, Uniross, and many others is that they last much less than a third as long before their performance becomes totally unacceptable. So once youve wasted money on a few of the nonOEM batteries you could have used that money to buy genuineOEM which last MUCH longer. Also theres all that guff to consider about noncoded, partcoded and fullydecoded batteries in short anything other than the last ones wont usually work in the OEM battery charger, nor will the battery charge meter work in the camera. So I always buy the genuineOEM items. But the price still stinks. The camera manufacturer knows they have a monopoly on supply and so charge as much as they can get away with. Usually that would result in me rating this battery as just 3 stars, but I bought wisely by purchasing lightlyused secondhand OEM batteries with a guarantee. Still overpriced, but it meant I got two for 90 instead of about 140150. If brandnew OEM rechargeables were priced at, say, 150 of the typical price of Third Partyoffbrand models then theyd be very good value and would merit 5 stars.

  51. blank

I bought two extra batteries to accompany my new Olympus M5 MkIII. The reviews of this new camera model were critical of the battery life saying it was not improved, or even a little worse than the battery used in the M5 MkII, which I shot with for 5 years. Id say the reviews are right. Olympus should have kept the same battery. They didnt because it was larger than this one. With my M5 MkII, I encountered a bad problem with nonOlympus batteries Watsonbrand in particular once they got older. So, its not that this battery is bad, its that Olympus should have devoted more design energy to a small and longer life battery.

Excellent product, have bought lesser quality batteries but they did not last anywhere near as long as the Olympus ones.

  65. blank

    William

The only thing that causes me to bristle is the price of camera OEM batteries. A camera brand battery seems to hold a charge longer and give me more shots per charge. And no doubt manufactures know thishence the hefty price.

  66. blank

    John

This much more substantial than the BLN1, the battery used in the EM1. That battery wouldnt leave much of a welt, but you could easily drop this one in a sock and beat someone senseless, then pop the battery back into your EM1 II and take several good, sharp photos of the bruises, as well as lengthy videos of the recovery process, all before recharging.

  67. blank

I used the BLH1 batteries for three months now. I get significantly more shotsusage than I did with the corresponding BLN batteries used with the Olympus OMD EM1. Ive also used them in moderately cold weather around freezing with good results. These are the only coded batteries available for the OMD EM1 Mark II, and Olympus certainly charges a premium for them. Hopefully, there will be some reasonable 3rd party options in the future. Olympus needs to manage their supply chaininventory better. I waited two months after ordering to get an additional battery from BH as there was no inventory in the entire USA during that time.

Bought this as a spare for the Olympus OMD EM1 Mk III but also to use with the HLD9 battery grip. Only drawback was this was two year old stock, manufactured in Jan 2018. Needed to recharge it completely with the BCH1 Battery Charger.

  79. blank

    William

Not that theres necessarily anything wrong with aftermarket, but I like using official parts and accessories when possible. Not much else to say, really its a perfect replacement and spare for the battery that shipped with the camera, so Im satisfied knowing that.

Great battery, own three for the Olympus OMD E1 Mark II. For a full days shoot carry them all. Each battery takes 23 hrs. to reach a full charge. Wish Olympus offered a compact streamlined charger that accepts two batteries for simultaneous charging. As is, if all batteries are depleted the charge time is approx. 7.5 hrs. Camera specs claim 400 images per battery. I get less because of more frequent monitor utilization for image evaluation and longer monitor usage for composition, focus etc. Also take a lot more photos. Not criticizing this outstanding camera merely pointing out that shooting styles impact battery life. Just as published automotive gas mileage ratings vs. actual roadtraffic driving. It would be most helpful if Olympus upted the mAhs capacity to yield more photos. Most DSLR cameras have triple photo capacity. CONS Battery is expensive. To purchase an extra charger is both expensive and not practical. Gave up my Nikon D3S and lenses for a lighter compact camera system. Carrying an extra charger while traveling is an oxymoron. RB

There was a question as to whether this battery came in a case. The copy I received in Dec 2020 did indeed come in a plastic case. This battery is too large to fit in most 3rd party battery wallets at 50mm x 42mm x 18mm so Im glad the case was included. Upside of large size is long life. Lasts all day in EM1 mkiii.

These batteries are currently the only horse in the race, given the fact they are for Olympus new OMD em1 mkII so there is little to which they can be compared. They work fine and they definitely last longer than their predecessors BLN1 5 however they dont last any where near as long as claimed all day, at least not for me and the way I shoot. They seem to live up to the quality of Olympus new camera which says a lot.

I almost didnt purchase a second BLH1 for my EM1 Mk2, as so far Ive been astounded by this batterys long lasting capacityIve already logged in over 800 shots on allday shoots, with still some charge left in the battery. Then again, Ive been foolish enough to have been left in the past with other camerasbatteries with amazing photo opportunities and dead batteries, so I bought this one as a backup. Plus, with the speed of recharging, I doubt that Ill ever be needing a third, even when traveling.

  128. blank

Obviously, works fine with the Olympus charger. My experience with the Olympus batteries is that they far outlast less expensive third party equivalents… usually outlast the useful life of the cameras they were purchased for.

This battery works as it should. Im happy it has more capacity than the EM1 battery, but at the same time I wish I didnt need 3 of these for each of my EM1 Mark II cameras to shoot a wedding… and I still take a charger with me to my jobs. I guess mirrorless cameras just need more power.

The shipment was on time and the package was properly handled. The item was exactly as it was advertised. But unfortunately most reviews that I read are right, this batteries drain a lot faster than the ones I have on my dslr.

I dont know the actual battery life of the OMD M10, as its new to me and I tend to drain the battery in just a couple of days of shooting and experimentation and discovery. So its been very helpful to have a spare handy.

The battery and EM 1 Mark II are a fine combination. My only regret is the lack of a stand alone charger for the BLH1. Id like to dump the cumbersome power cord and proprietary charger that come with the camera in favor of a charger that plugs directly into a wall socket. Ill get one as soon as one is available.

I kept 5 batteries on hand at every possible moment with my EM1. I have only 2 batteries at the moment and so far this has not been an issue even when using the ProCapture shooting mode. Batteries keep getting better and this is a distinct improvement and important for mirrorless power demands.

Needed another battery for my Mark II OM, wanted a Factory battery for longer use times. Ordered in Nov 2020, in a few days the battery arrived, factory date stamped 2018, hum it was new, still sealed, but 2 years old when sold Well, beware of older inventory and ask is the battery fresh, within say 12 months. Still B and H is my go to store for just about everything photo.

This Olympus battery gives me more freedom for photographing based on reliability. This is life line of my photographing especially to work for assigned picture that requires all day long work outside. Big battery. In this case, NONE of the nonOly compatible batteries truly keeps a charge through a hundred cycles like this one. The reason is that only Oly has loadbalancing circuitry between the cells notice that this one is 7.4v That means multiple internal cells. As emergency back ups, other cheaper batteries are sometimes ok. But in this case, even those cost about 30. Not worth it really.

  190. blank

Long life, much quicker charging, and actual feedback from the charger in terms of progress via blinking lights. After 4 years with other OMDs the difference is startling. Realizing that people use batteries at different rates based on settings and how they use their cameras, I am very comfortable now with 2 batteries instead of 34. I shot consistently for 2 days with 70 of one battery. I dont tend to use the LCD much keep it folded in, and my review setting is 0, but I leave the camera powered on and I transfer the photos every day.

The reviews clearly indicate that several of the thirdparty batteries being offered are excellent alternatives to the Olympus OEM Original Equipment Manufacturer product. However, their use can void the Olympus warranty. Therefore, the approximately 20dollar difference in price is a very small insurance premium to pay to protect a new 650 USD camera body. After the warranty expires, I shall definitely consider the alternatives, should the need arise.

I recently upgraded from the Olympus OMD EM1 and kept four spare batteries on hand. When I upgraded to the Mark II I purchased this extra battery. I can really see the difference in battery life And although I have not tested it, it seems to charge a heck of a lot faster too. Yes they are a bit bulkier and certainly cost more but in the end you save by not needing as many. Sometime down the road, I may try a third party brand but for now, Im sticking with the Olympus and having just one extra on hand suits my shooting style. I dont like the bulky wall charger that came with the camera so I bought for 8.00 a simple little 2prong right angle plug adapter that fits on the Olympus charger turning it into a handy, more compact portable wall charger. Hope this helps ciao m

Not much to say, its a battery. Sometimes the OEM batteries are priced so much higher, often more than double the price, of third party brands like Wasabi or Watson which Ive had good results with but not this time. This Olympus BLH1 is only a few dollars more than the third party brands so its not worth the cost savings so I went with Olympus.
