Phone looks great, and is pretty fast in everyday usage, it’s android so it’s simple to use, the build quality is nice, however it’s feels a little cheaper as the back is plastic ( although good quality ) and the phone doesn’t weigh as much as some of the more premium ones. The issues show up pretty quickly however, the battery life is average but slower to charge than some rivals in the price point. I have owned this phone for 3 months and 3 times in this period I have gone to make a call and the phone refuses to dial out. I have to restaythe phone to be able to make calls, this is my biggest annoyance with this phone. The bluetooth quality is also really poor, I have some expensive earbuds and this phone disconnects, sends extremely sharp and shrill blasts of sound to the earbuds every so often and is intermittent in it’s connection, and I’m sat less than 3 feet away from my phone whilst connected. Overall I can cope with the phone in everyday usage, however I change my phone’s every 6 to 12 months as I like to try out new tech, I can say with all honesty I may be switching from this phone to another one before I get to 6 months ownership 3 people found this helpful

I was looking for a mid-range phone to run the variety of apps I have loaded, and the Nothing brand had been popping up a lot on my feeds. I didn’t feel the need to go up to the Nothing 2 as it was out of my price range for what I needed. Until now I’ve been settling around the £150-£200 mark on phones and having an okay time – they did what I needed. My Huawei ran for ages but had to drop that one due to limitations introduced. Blackview was where I went next until the phone bricked after about 2 years. So I took a punt on the Nothing 2a. I liked the idea of the simplicity and the price point was not far out of my range to hold me back. I have to say I was impressed from the first. The box was tiny compared to most with a funky embossed design on the inner carton. Paper packaging with the phone, charging cable and the usual small phone guides. Setting up was simple and I easily transferred the data from my old phone, and I was away. Nothing came with almost Nothing – the usual Android/Google basics, and some extras to run the phone and that’s it – no bloatware. The interface is clean and responsive, and, having downloaded the Nothing icon pack, I also had a clean monochrome display – something I wasn’t sure I’d get on with, but there’s no distractions. The options to customise the home screen were the best I’ve experienced so far – essentially the whole home page is your playground. This is the first time I’ve been able to organise ALL my regular apps on one page, and I’ve also had room to add 3 widgets for showing key information, and altered the settings so I have 5 columns, with my most used groups set larger to easily access commonly used apps like MFA. The dot matrix style text is also clear and pleasing to read, and you can switch off the folder names to gain even more screen space. You do have the option of also reverting to the Android style interface if that’s more your style, so you are not tied to the Nothing view, but I have no intention of switching! I’m also liking the Always on display option – I can mow have my basic info at a glance without unlocking the phone – time, date, next alarm, and icons to show app notifications, as well as battery level, and flipping the phone over to show the Glyphs, it flashes and minimises the battery drain. The ringtones and notification tones are in the same basic style – not overly keen on most of them, but you can add the composer app and then create your own complete with LED combos, or add in items from your music library, so you are not short of options. The camera is okay for my needs – The front camera does seem to lack some focus close up (trying to capture some text from the back of a device while using the screen to see where I was aiming) but I got round this using the rear camera, capturing a video, then using the in-built tools to grab a screenshot from the video, so problem solved. Battery for me generally lasts 2 days with the always on setup, and around 3-4 hours screen time according to the stats the phone gathers. There’s plenty more for me to explore still Overall, even though I’ve only had it a short time, I am extremely pleased with the phone and I’ve already added the Nothing CMF ear buds (which for me is unusual as I dislike in-ear buds normally, but I was sold on the option of not using noise cancellation – I’ll probably post a review once I have used them in earnest!) 42 people found this helpful

I have had the phone for 2-3 weeks now and have got most of it under some sort of control! This comment is down to me, not the phone. It looks well, has all the features and capability you would wish for from a smart phone and has a clear screen with good technical capability. Looks and feels very well made. Everything operates in a quick and tight fashion and so far I have not witnessed any screen flickering or stalling in delivery. I can comfortably recommend this phone. What happens over the longer term is not known of course as it is a new make. Given the quality feel, I am optimistic. 2 people found this helpful

The first thing that I noticed on this phone is the weight difference, Nothing phone 2a is a lot lighter which is a huge boon. I’ve always preferred android over iPhone, but I had to try iPhone for it’s camera, which I must admit is far more superior than Nothing phone 2a. But as this is a base model don’t expect a wow front facing camera as it’s not great in comparison to iPhones 14 pro camera. However, the back camera is ideal for every day photos/scenarios and it’s AI adaptation/ post processing is pretty dope. The screen refresh rate is really good and people with the latest iPhones(15/16) have commented on how good the screen looks. The battery is huge and will mostly last me 2 days without gaming, but a day if you game a lot or use it aggressively. Most games will play really well, however, I did try Genshin Impact on it and had to tweak it to low settings and even then you can notice a lag here and there and for me personally it wasn’t smooth enough to be enjoyable. Sounds quality is good, mic quality is good so no complaints on that regard. I love the fact that I can disable cam/mic via quick menu, but a hardware switch would have made it perfect and maybe a way to block front camera would make it the best phone for me as I love privacy. It’s a beautiful looking phone and does everything that I need it to do. You simply can’t beat this phone for the price bracket that it’s in. 6 people found this helpful

I have always gone for higher end handsets but decided to give the Nothing Phone 2a Plus a go, the modern design of the OS and quirky hardware appealed to me. Also since I bought my last handset the market has changed and you get more for your money in the budget/midrange end. So far I am impressed by the software experience, I like what Nothing have done here. Its fast and I like the use of widgets and the more minimalist aesthetic, plus the Glyph lights are more useful than I expected and very cool. Battery life so far is amazing, screen quality top notch and I have noticed a big step in call quality over my Oppo. Haven’t really had the chance to try the camera but I expect it will be more than enough for what I need and more. I like that its a bit different and the overall hardware quality seems excellent, what’s not to like

Absolutely love this phone!, for me it ticks every single box for my needs. The ONLY negative I will give is the lack of a case and charger, which some other companies include. But I suppose this is at a lower price, so it can be forgiven. Performance – Perfect for your day to day, though if you’re use to flagship performance, you won’t get that here. Though what you do get is 120hz screen, smooth responses and it’ll handle most things. I think 90% of people will be happy with this. Cameras – Nothing special, but nothing too bad. I’ve been impressed with the low light photos from this phone. Though again, nothing special at this price, but that doesn’t mean they’re bad, as they’re really good. Battery / Charging – Easily a 2 day battery life for me, though others may differ depending on your use case scenario. 50 watt charging speed does what it needs to do, no complaint from me here either. Screen – The screen hasn’t been bad, I mean, it hasn’t made me have an opinion in a negative way, so that tells you something. Very nice, bright and responsive. Conclusion – While I can’t include everything in my review or I’ll be here all day, I will say for the price this phone is perfect, I absolutely LOVE the phone and would recommend it with 100% confidence! 11 people found this helpful

This phone is so different, forget the rest, buy this instead, it’s sensibly priced, easy to set up and use, the screen is an amoled, and gives a decent display, the sound is reasonable for the price, and there are some really cool functions like glyph lights, the nothing phone is the only phone that has this function, the cameras are pretty good, in fact everything about it is good considering the low price . I highly recommend this phone. It’s probably the best looking phone built so far anywhere. I opted for the 256gb storage, which for me is ample. It’s the same size as the latest iPhone at a fraction of the cost, it’s got a 5000mah battery, so it lasts longer. The phone is also very responsive so feels great to use . 5 people found this helpful
