Dear Nikon. Thanks for finally creating two mirrorless cameras with feature sets that competesurpass Canon and more importantly Sony. Seriously. Great first effort. I bought two Z6 bodies, the FTZ adapter, the 2470mm F4, and 35 50mm 1.8 lenses. Two batteries too. However, I have some feature requests1. WHAT GOOD IS A BATTERY GRIP WITH NO SHUTTER OR COMMAND DIAL CONTROLS Do a better job. That idea just plans sucks.2. Give us an adapter with a lens AF drive control andor ND filter drop in slot. Canon did it. Nikon cant3. Enable USB battery POWERING of camera WHILE SHOOTING. Stills or video. Especially video. Sony, your direct competitor, does it. Has for years. You can enable RAW video via HDMI and eye AF in firmware you can enable USB powercharging in camera.4. Where is the lens Fn button in the Cistom Control Assignment menu Its not on the lens. A future lens maybe It cant be on the camera. Because its a lens Fn button.3. Speaking of buttons, welcome to 2014. A time when Samsungs NX1 discontinued but otherwise brilliant enabled again, in firmware TONS of assignable and functionreversible buttons. Like assigning custom WB to say, the down direction of the command dial. Or reversing the video record button with the AF ON button. Or AF area to the drive selector button. Please allow Z67 buyers more buttons with more flexible custom assignability. Because buyers can become sellers. And YouTube influencers.5. Please add H.265 compression. H.264 is so 2013. Again, Samsung NX1 2014 did it. Sony does it.Thats all. For now…Looking forward to RAW video and eye AF. And easier stuff Im certain youre capable of doing in firmware.

Im a longtime Nikon user, going back to film camera days. Ive eagerly awaited Nikons first fullframe mirrorless cameras, and the new Z6 exceeds my expectations.First, this is truly a Nikon. Build quality if outstanding, and the look and feel is 100 Nikon. If youve used a Nikon DSLR, youl be right at home here. First and foremost, picture quality is just outstanding. Detailed images, with natural colors, especially skin tones. Ive always thought Nikons colors were a standout, and the Z6 continues in this tradition.Theres tons of options for shooting different effects, and the Z6 expands to include many additional filter effects Ive not seen on prior highend DSLRs you can find these under the Set Picture Control option, most easily reached by pressing the i button on the back. The touchscreen is a great feature here, it makes navigation from the i button quite natural and easy. I didnt notice any banding or moire effects in various outdoor shots at smaller apertures shooting both the 2470 Z lens and a number of my older AFS lense via the excellent FTZ adapter. HiISO performance is stunning. Even at 12,600, theres amazingly little noise in the Z6 images. In sum, the Z6 produces excellent images in either Raw or outofcamera JPEGs.Highlights with the Z6 controls and usage are the huge, bright nolag electronic viewfinder. This is a joy to use Even in verydark scenes, the viewfinder shows a bright, clear image, almost like night vision for very dark night scenes. There is truly no discernable lag here, either.Nikon finally added U1U2U3 settings to the program dial, a much better system than the shooting banks from prior highend offerings. This allows you to setup 3 different camera states I use landscape, portrait, and action and recall each with a simple turn of the dial. So much easier than the old method. Many early reviews especially of the Z7 raised some issues with autofocus, especially in tracking modes of fastermoving subjects. Ive just not had issues in this area in a few days of usage of the Z6. The single point modes are great, and cover nearly the entire image area. Theres a nub controller on the back, perfectly placed under my right thumb, that allows you to move this point easily over your subject. The Z6 was tacksharp in nearly every photo using this method, especially with the native 2470 Z lens. The auto modes worked well, too. Its not quite as quick to pickup lesscontrasty subject in AFC modes compared to my D500, but its pretty close. There is 3D subjecttracking mode under auto. Press the center OK button, and a white box appears. Move this over your subject by either reframing or the nub control, and halfpress the shutter. The Z6 will now track this subject throughout the frame. Give a full shutter press when you want to take the shot. The framing box will continue to track the subject, so you can keep taking shots as you like. Works great. The Z6 uses a combination of shape and color info to recognize the subject, and follows it throughout the frame. To reset the box, you have to hit ok again, and you can start again. Easier to use than describe here, actually.Theres just so much more to say about the Z6. I havent dived into video modes, but all the other reviews say this is an extremely capable video camera. Inbody vibration reduction called IBIS in body image stabilization is another game changer on older lenses that lack this feature. Focus peaking courtesy of the electronic view finder means use of older, manual focus lenses is quite easy Between IBIS and focus peaking, those older Nikon telephotos are starting to look like a real bargain.Mirrorless really is a game changer, and Nikons first fullframe versions are an outstanding advance. So many features here inbody stabilization, autofocus covering nearly the entire frame, an outstanding, highres and nolag viewfinder, tons of picture and shooting options, it all adds up to a highly recommended camera in a great, compact form.Im not selling my D810 or D500 just yet, but the Z6 has become my goto camera for most usage Im still shooting wildlife on the D500. Well done, Nikon

The camera is a beast, I would definitely recommend. The camera bag from the package is a bit compact for the contents of the kit and I would definitely recommend a different package that includes a compatible memory card if you dont already have one. I failed to research memory card compatibility for this camera before ordering and it almost became a very expensive mistake. Otherwise, epic camera.

The Nikon Z6 is a fantastic introduction from Nikon into the mirrorless world. Ive been shooting with Nikon since the D1 days and it truly is incredible how far the technology has come. This camera is fantastic all around, great solid body, comfortable to hold. The EVF is gorgeous and feels almost like cheating seeing your exposure live. Makes checking the back of the camera redundant sometimes. I do not own any S lenses yet, but Im in no hurry since the FTZ adapter makes it a flawless transition. Taken this camera on weddings, engagements and family sessions. Performs beyond expectations. My only wish is that it had two card slots. Thats a popular gripe with the Z cameras so far. Im confident Nikon is listening and will deliver in the future. Very excited for this camera and whats to come.

I am loving the Z6. My pictures are turning out great and Im deleting less. I love that the camera came with all of the extra gear. The only thing really missing is the card reader for the new XQD card. I am thrilled that the camera came with the FTZ adapter so I could use most of the lenses from my D7100 Nikon. Its super cool and so convenient that the camera can send the photos to my phone I just wish my phone had more than 16 gigs of memory. I was nervous switching over to the newest technology but I am not going back now. I just wish I could afford more lenses.

I am not pro but I cannot tell you enough about how much I love this camera.I upgraded from a Nikon D5300 so this is an absolute massive upgrade in comparison and it was well worth it.The cons I keep seeing from people is about the XQD card that you need for the camera since it does not accept SD Cards. For my use personallytravel photographyvideography I found no issues with a single card slot and an upgraded memory card format. I bought a used 64gb Sony card and havent had a single problem and since I can plug the camera directly into my MacBook Pro its even better.I would argue the only downside for this camera is the display on the back does not swivel around to the front but they updated app for the camera is a much more pleasant experience. Those are the two biggest things I see people talk about and Ive found very acceptable work arounds everything else is as great as people claim

Ive tried several brands of cameras and have come back to Nikon more than once. The Z6, along with the Z7, are their first serious mirrorless cameras and they have made a pretty decent entry into the competitive market. This is my first full frame, which may add something extra to my satisfaction with the camera. Low light is no problem, and going to higher ISO ranges with less noise than I am used to has been a really valuable benefit. I find focusing, including low light, is not an issue with the 2470 kit lens as well as the 50mm. I havent done any serious actionsports but I believe it will take care of my needs, though I am not a professional by any means. Its just a fun camera to use.

I waited a little over a year to purchase a full frame camera. I was truly leaning towards the Sony but am so absolutely grateful I waited for Nikon to release the Z 6 mirrorless full frame camera. This camera is amazing Takes a little time to get to know all its many amazing features. Had some small issues with my external flash but truth be told this camera performed like a champ in low light with no flash. I am a Nikon Z 6 lover for ever I doubt I will ever own another camera until this one dies. I absolutely LOVE MY NIKON Z 6. BEST EVER CAMERA PURCHASE

Preordered months ago, was pleasantly surprised when I received it one day after release including shipping.Body Lens and screen seem large for body, but Im sure in a few days itll seem normal. Very pleased with the grip, I have large hands and have long preferred Nikons over Cannons for the grips. I was concerned the smaller body would force an awkward smaller grip but its comfortable to hold.Shooting Breeze to shoot, I was unsure what to expect with the EVF but my concerns were misplaced. The EVF is bright, clear, and fluid smooth.Images Very low noise, Im coming from a FX sensor, so there should be a large improvement but the low noise exceeds my expectations.Have only taken a few shots so its still early days but my first impressions have been very positive. Looking forward to years of good shooting.

I have had the camera for for 3 weeks and most likely to early to review. I found the location of settings easy to adjust from my other Nikon digital cameras. It focuses much faster and more accurate then my other Nikons. I wish that Nikon had included a SD card slot. Having WiFi issues especially when around WiFi routers that are already recognized by the iOS device. I do have a concern about the lack of a HDMI cable in the kit when the manual is clear that one should be in the kit. I contacted Nikon about the cable and they were polite but they stated it was not included but manual shows it is. I believe their is a error with the manual as none of my other Nikons came with that cable. I am overall pleased so far. I believe as they release software updates the features will only improve. Also make sure some lenses do have updates and they may need to be updated to work on the Z6. I hope this info helps.

Nikons new Z6 camera is the first of their mirror less fullframe cameras. Its nominally a 24 megapixel camera much like my recent D7200. But while the D7200 is a DX format with a sensor that is 24 x 16 mm. The new Nikon Z6 has a full frame sensor of 24 x 36 mm, but with the same megapixel resolution. Is it better or just more expensive All reports seem to indicate that the larger, sharper pixels. Having used the camera for about a week now, I am really impressed with the incredibly sharp pictures in the viewfinder, on the display and expanded on my laptop. It is the sharpest digital camera I have ever had and I plan to keep it.Full review here httpsbit.ly2N8PswQ

Nikon has always had the best image files with vibrant colors and fantastic dynamic range. This camera is no exception. With the newer firmware the autofocus works very well. Its more than good enough for most of my needs. The only real downside to this camera is that it uses XQD And CFExpress cards. Yes, theyre expensive, but dont compare these high performance cards to the cheap slow SD cards youre used to buying. Compare them to the highest performing SD cards and youll see that theyre not that much more expensive but theyre much faster than those SD cards.

As someone who worked professional with dslrs since 2008 this light mirrorless, light weight, ergonomically perfect camera is exactly what I want to use for day to day usage. Focus is great, the design is intuitive. If you have Nikon lenses from back in the day buy the adapter and youre good to go. Eventually youll want to buy the new lenses but the old stuff wont go to waste. Doing a lot more video than I thought as well.

I previously owned 2xD750s. Sold both for 2Z6s. Was it worth it absolutely The 1 card slot is not a deal breaker for me. The new Z6 got 2 slots now. I wont go on and on about how good this is compared to the D750. All my F mount lenses focus a lot better and have a 99 hit rate. No need for focus tuning. I got tired of tuning every lenses on the D750.I will never got back to DSLR again. The D750 does track fast moving subjects a bit faster than the Z6 though, but still not a deal breaker. Ive shot sports with the Z6 and did just fine.

My favorite thing about this camera is the electronic viewfinder. As a hobbyist, I upgraded from a D7000, so Im very excited about this new technology and the ability to get a full frame mirrorless at this price point. I couldnt afford to buy all new lenses so I love that this came with an adapter. Also, the bluetooth connection to my phone makes it so convenient to share photos as the older slrs do not have this technology. I love that I can just pick up this camera and use it similar to my old Nikon with just a few changes to how the menus are set up. The in body stabilization its awesome and the focusing is spot on even if a bit slow at times. This is the perfect camera for me

Love this camera. It takes amazing photos, feels so nice to hold, and Im very optimistic about building out my Nikkor Z lens collection. The only downside is that XQD cardsreaders can add an initial cost, but its not a huge deal. Full frame 4k video is also a great feature.

Its hard to believe what Nikon has done with this camera. Its light, compact and feel solid, it has the ideal sensor size in a full frame camera. The image stabilization is second to non and with the new 3.0 firmware upgrade its right up there with the best Sony. All my old lenses are Nikon, with the FTZ adapter I was able to use them all without missing a beat.

I have had my camera for 1 month. I have tried majority of the functions. I couldnt be happier with my camera and lens. I use the camera at home shooting images of my children, landscapes, and night photography in downtown areas.ImageThe picture quality with the 2470mm f4 S lens is superb. I have no complaints on image quality. There were people online that said there were some banding issues with this camera. I have not experienced any issue with banding in low light situations. Skin tones seem to be very close to real life. Probably 95 of the time, I do not adjust skin tones in post. The pictures are very good and I am quite thrilled with the image quality, especially in dark environments.CAFThe face detect continuous autofocus CAF is good as long as the person is not temporarily blocked. The camera looses lock when the person turns away or when something moves in front of the target. It does not reacquire after this happens. However, it is very easy to relock your subject. This is the case for other moving subjects besides a face as well. This is my only complaint with this camera when shooting still images. CAF in video mode locks and tracks well.VideoThe video recording in 1080 at 30fps is probably the best quality I have seen in a long time. It is good enough that I can play the 108030 video on a 4k 55 TV and it looks as good as most 4k videos. The In Body Image Stabilization shines in video. It makes stationary handheld look like the camera is on a tripod.BatteryI have one battery. It discharged completely on me one time. I forgot to turn off Bluetooth in camera. I have gone all day shooting still images on one battery. I usually shoot a 5050 mix of viewfinder and live view. As long as you leave your Bluetooth off in the camera, your battery should last all day.I am looking forward to adding lenses to my kit as they are released. This camera would be ideal for someone who shoots both video and stills. It is hard to beat the image and video quality in one camera body. I would recommend this camera even if you only shoot video or stills.

What makes this purchase even more exciting and amazing is the option of having a promotional time period to pay the camera off without interest and having adorama credit as an option to finance your equipment. Ive been shooting Nikon for over 45 years. This has to be the best Ive owned. Very light, very good focus system, and very quite Ive used it either the new S lens, the manual focus lens, and even the G lens. All images are extremely sharp with great detail. Video in 4K is amazing when you work within the perimeters it was designed to do The eye and face focus is great even though I see others that have complained. I have had absolutely no difficulties. Going from Nikon D750 to this was a great move for me. I now no longer shoot my D750. Thinking of selling it to but another Z6, I like it that well.

Ive been using Nikon SLRs and DSLRs for most of my life, so I opted for Nikon. Glad I did. If you are the same, dont hesitate on this one The camera is significantly smaller and lighter than a conventional highend Nikon fullframe camera which is good for portability. Wonderful auto features with full command of all manual controls. I especially like focus peaking the highlights on the screen that outline focused areas. Im a poorsighted spectacle wearer and this tech is a big boost for me. The camera is excellent in low light better than the Z7 which is why I paid less and go more from this deal. The kit lens is, so far, very light and very convenient, and is a Z lens I recommend getting the kit lens with the deal. Very versatile.

I purchased this mirrorless camera and lens as I had it shipped to me, Apon arrival, When I opened the manufacturers box for both the camera and lens, things did not look right. Some of the accessories included in the box were unwrapped with the empty packaging crumpled inside. A piece was missing, along with one of the warranty registration cards.I have purchased many pieces of photographic equipment from this manufacturer and knew that the packaging was tampered with. It appeared as though I was sent an open box item when in fact I ordered the item new. With much difficulty, I was able to reach a representative online to explain the situation. After explaining to them, I was only offered a 25 gift card for my trouble an no offer to replace either the missing piece or replacing the camera for a closed box one. I still have not received the gif card. I was able to call one of the Best Buy stores where the manager was helpful and offered to exchange the unit for anew one. They only issue I had with this is I had to travel over 40 miles to go pick it up as this was the only store to have what I needed. I did go and exchange the camera, When openingt new the box, everything was present and sealed in the original wrapping, just the way it should be, not like the original unit sent to me. My question is how could I be sold something as new when it was open and missing items What happen to quality control

My favorite camera Ive ever owned. Its outstanding in every way that I need it to be. I use manual focus lenses for stills. I cant comment on AF or video but Im sure its great. The exceptional viewfinder, accurate focus peaking, and customizable controls make for great usability with manual lenses. The FTZ adapter gives me perfect Infiniti focus with both my 60s Nikkor and newer Zeiss lenses while feeling rock solid in attachment. My Zeiss also connect electronically adding full dial control, metering, auto aperture priority and EXIF data which is a big bonus.Furthermore the image stabilization is unbelievable and its easy to tell the camera which lens Ive mounted by adding a customized button to access that menu item.I would normally not use something like Dlighting but its great, as is the highlight priority metering, and the fact that there is about zero noise at higher ISOs.Ergonomics ABattery life ABuild quality AA in every way.

I had the Z6 since March of 2019. My goal was to have a camera with good autofocus, easy to use, feature packed with a proven bloodline. Ive always shot Nikon and hadhave other glass, perfect for the FTZ adapter. I researched like many others for about 3 months before buying and settled on the Z6. Excited when it first arrived, I loved the feel in my hand, LOVED the menu system and the features were endless. But . . .as many know, the autofocus was a huge disappointment. I watched tutorials, read articles, called and chatted with Nikon support . ..you name it and just couldnt get it to stay on focus. It would lock and then lose the subject. One it lost the subject it was a bit difficult for it to find it again. Im NOT a professional by ANY means, and like to shoot raw in Aperture priority most of the time. When it WAS in focus, the results were crisp, well colorbalanced photos with great detail and clarity. NOW to the problem most of my shooting is my grandkids and sporting events. Like a trooper, I waited for the firmware update that was supposed to improve this problem. Sadly, it really didnt provide much of an improvement at all. I continued to work myself to become better, but nothing helped. Again, I dont make a living at this, so maybe if youre a manual shooter with great reflexes you would have better luck. But I dont want to miss shots on my grandkids due to backfocusing, eye AF that hits the nose or eyebrow, etc. I want to ENJOY photography and not struggle each time to get good results. I was better off with my iPhone. When it gets to the point where Im asking myself if its worth taking the Z6 with me or not, then Ill end up leaving it at home. NOT what I want to do. They 2470 that came with the body is really a nice lens Its clear, sharp in the corners and performs its job very well But again, it focuses where and when the Z6 tells it to.The end of this story is, it ALL eventually went back in the box the whole kit and I traded it on a very gently used Sony a9. Yes, even gently used it cost me a little bit more, but OH MY GOSH the difference is stunning I pickup the a9, its set to focus tracking and eyepet AF and I never look back I can concentrate on composition, timing, etc and it has YET to miss. Now Ive only had it about 2 weeks, but this is what I should have done in the first place. I was so loyal to Nikon and had other glass that I ignored the reviews that warned of this very issue. So dont get brand tunnel vision if you like to shoot kids, motion, pets, wildlife and so on. If you a landscape person, a portrait photographer or have a keen interest in VIDEO, then the Z6 is a seriously great choice. But after a few months it was clear Id made a mistake.Best of luck in your decisions

The Best Mirrorless camera of 2018. I bought it via BH Photo Video along with adapter and 2470 f4 lens and its the sharpest lens and has vibrant colors and auto focustracking is the best in both PhotoVideo. One of the best continuous auto focus camera which Nikon has produced for Video and it tracks the subject very well.If u are the Nikon shooter then u should grab it immediately. Its low light capability is another powerful feature and its in par with Sony alpha series.Battery performance is great but not the best I was able to get around 700 raw files with one battery and thats almost double than what they mentioned in the advertisement ie. around 350 plus pics. Anyway I got 2 extra batteries for this camera so that i can shoot more photovideo diring events. Downside Single XQD memory card slot but thats ok as i can take a risk on it. Never seen failure in my SD cards since i started photography in 2013 so I can take that risk.

My D850 went in for repairs, so I finally jumped on getting a backup camera and decided to go in the mirrorless direction as I hope to start recording more video and prep for the future of photography. The electronic viewfinder was, and is, taking some time to get use too but it has its advantages. Being able to watch your setting changes happen in real time in the viewfinder is pretty handy but theres still a latency video feel to watching your subject through the camera. Im slowly getting use to this change and predict it will all be an afterthought in the near future. The menu setup is amazingly customizable and pretty fun to go through. The button placement is very similar to my D850, so switching over was pretty seamless. Im not so concerned with the single memory card slot, so I can say if this is a major issue for you, wait for the Z6s or Z7s that should be out later this year, or look at the Z5 due out later this month.I have fairly large hands, so my fear was not being able to hold this camera in a usable fashion but that also hasnt been an issue. The depth is a lot smaller so getting to a few buttons took a minute to figure out. Its extremely light, almost comically so, but built well. It doesnt feel cheaply made at all.It takes beautiful photos. I wish more long range Z lenses were available right now, but the future looks good with the lens road map. I use it with the FTZ adapter and 500mm f5.6 whole rig weighs nothing and as seems to be the issue with mirrorless, the AF is a little slow I also know some of this is because of a slow lens. When used with the 2470mm f4 Z lens, its a whole lot faster, obviously, so I am really waiting for those Z lenses to come out to really utilize this camera body to its potential.Ive only taken a few videos so far, so I dont have too much to say in that area but I can honestly say that the AF control and settings are far superior to my use of a DSLR for video. All this being said, I am finding myself using this Z6 with the 500mm f5.6 PF lens almost all the time. I photograph birdswildlife and realize that with trying to catch moving birds, I will have to resort back to my D850 as its the better tool for that job. For almost everything else, Im really loving this camera and cant wait to see what the future Nikon Z cameras can do to progress what seems to be the future of photography.

The Nikon Z6 came with the Nikon converter as a free item. This was a promotion and I got it at a great price. The camera itself is amazing. It can do everything the Nikon D850 can do but…..its not great for fast action or panning. It is a bit difficult to get use too if your coming from a DSLR world but the benefits are that it is a bit more compact. The camera itself has VR and it will double up on a lens with VR as well.Get it when theres a sale or promotion. Thanks BB…

The Z6 dollar for dollar is the best value for toughness, menus, and overall picture quality. The rubber is a bit soft, so each to cut, so I recommend a half case. The pictures quality has reached such a state that it is up to the photographer to get right. Its not a light camera to say its competitors, but feels good in the hand. I have both the Z7 and Z6 and have not had issues with either cameras. The IBIS works, AF is fine for me, plenty of buttons toprogram to your bias, plus the toggle control is great. The internal view finder is super, and overall, it does the job well.

I moved up from a d7200. Wow, what an upgrade. The z6 takes incredibly sharp photos and with the 2470S lens, focuses fast, fast, fast. The in body image stabilization has allowed me to take handheld photos at a shutter speed of 15 Images taken at ISO 8000 are essentially noise free. Battery life was initially a concern, but over 800 photos were taken on one battery charge using only the EVF. The only criticism is that it seems many commands are menu driven rather than controllable very buttons.

I have been a photographer since I was 14 years old 75 of all the cameras I went through the Z6 is one of the best. I wore the manual out learning how to use it, so many things it can do. Hand held shots in a living room at night, sharp and bright without flash and just one 100w light bulb amazing. Expensive but so much for your money. Get yourself a Nikon flash that works with see the list in the manual.

Im not a pro, but this is my third Nikon digital camera I still have two Nikon film cameras in my museum. I was looking for a full frame mirror less camera for travelling to replace my Nikon DSLR great quality but too heavy.I picked the Z6 due to the Z mount lenses. Im using the 2470mm f4 kit lens editing with Photoshop and Premiere, and shooting Raw and 4K24fps.So far, the quality has been awesome. Im looking forward to filling out my lens set with a primary lens in the 100mm range when available.

A Very good camera. Coming from Nikon Film digital I waited a bit to get into the mirrorless realm. I was not disappointed, when I decided to get the Nikon Z6. I can bore you with megapixel, etc but bottom line it gets the shots I need. The colors that the camera captures are incredibly accurate and vibrate Then electronic viewfinder takes the most adjustment coming from the standard Nikon D500. Is it actually what the finished photo will look like Only thing I would improve upon is the AF system, especially it crowded leaves and branches, you need to help it to find the bird You wont be disappointed with the performance.

I LOVE this camera the adapter works incredibly well, I was surprised hitting all my shots with my 85 1.8g at 1.8 of my nieces running around outdoors. it has been my main camera now with my D750 becoming my backup. the autofocus is great, even in low light. I noticed it did struggle a bit in low light situations until I tried it with my offcamera flash. Once you turn the trigger on, the camera automatically turns off WYSIWYG in the viewfinder and goes to a bright live view mode used for flash, after that the focus worked perfectly. so I tried it afterword without the flash trigger on and WYSIWYG turned off, and it worked just as great. My friends love theres for the video, I plan on doing more video this summer. just a wonderful camera and I cant wait to get another one soon. This is the next step for a Nikon shooter. While I cant comment very much on the 2470mm lens just yet, when used with the FTZ adapter F lenses, I have been really impressed with the results. Have used the camera with 70200 70300mm F lenses low light performance is very, very impressive. Fast moving sport is a bit more hit miss, but you can still get a good amount of keepers. In most situations I have so far used the camera I have been very happy and would highly recommend to anyone.

I mostly shoot video as a hobby. I upgraded from a Nikon D750. For video the autofocus on the new z6 is a vast improvement over the D750. No more constant hunting for focus. The autofocus with the new z mount lens is dead quiet. I love being able to quickly change focus on subjects by tapping on the back screen, very handy when using a gimbal and needing to quickly switch between subjects. Would highly recommend the switch to mirrorless if you are currently shooting video with a dslr.

This camera has lots going for it, image quality is great, noise is low, raw files are very easy to work with, IBIS works well, ergonomics is great. There are some flaws as well. The AF is not very reliable, sometimes focusing on background. Camera also lacks customization, there are few buttons you can assign and the choices are limited, nowhere as good as Sony or Fuji.

Im like to start by saying that the Z6 is an amazing camera and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enter into photography. I will be highlighting several of my favorite advantages of Nikons new Z Series mirrorless cameras over DSLR. This is not a deep dive into this series, just a few topics I wanted to cover. The Z6 really opened my eyes to the world of mirrorless cameras, showing they can easily hold their own against the powerhouse DSLR to the point where I will be ordering the Z7 in hopes that I can replace Nikons flagship DSLR the D850.I ordered the Z6 to see what all the hype of mirrorless was before going ahead and purchasing the Z7 which cost nearly 30 more just to make the jump from 24 to 45 Megapixels which I believe is a necessary step for myself in particular, but not for everyone. The Z6 preformed as well as I had hoped for. The ergonomics feel very similar to the D850 despite being much smaller and lighter.OVF vs EVFOne reason I was so impressed with mirrorless is the EVF electronic viewfinder vs the OVF optical viewfinder you would find on a DSLR. An EVF is basically the same as the display on the back of the camera an OVF is a set of mirrors that direct light from the lens to your eye. With the mirrorless EVF the ability to set your exposure is tremendously easier, nearly eliminating the need to meter the light from the scene in order to make sure your photo is properly exposed. With an EVF, what you see is what you get.Z6 imaging sensor has its advantages when it comes to AFZ6 imaging sensor has its advantages when it comes to AFAF improvedI was extremely satisfied with Nikons improvement on video. To be specific, AutoFocus when filming… they have been horrible at this previously, with the D850sabilities being abominable when using anything other than AFS. This was because the D850s sensor is placed between mirrors when using the OVF utilizing Phase Detect AF, and Contrast Detect AF when using the Live View display. The Z6 Z7 both have the autofocus sensor located on the cameras imaging sensor giving it the ability to use phase detect and contrast detect when it deems necessary. In May of 2019 Nikon will release a new aspect of AF new to Nikon at least. Following in Sonys footsteps they are adding AFEye which is a mode that seeks out the subjects eye and focuses accordingly, giving you the option to use the directional pad to switch between eyes or subjects. Although theyve provided users a chance to use this feature on the display models provided at CP 2019, Id assume that its still to early to celebrate at least until the update is released to the public and tested with day to day use.Recording 12bit ProRes RAW Video… no wayWho doesnt love taking RAW photos, I know I do The ability to be able to reach into a photograph and pull out so much more than what you can see with your eyes, to be able to recover colors and pixels from what looks like a black underexposed photo that you though you botched… Nikon and Atomos announced together that youll soon have these capabilities when editing your video footage taken with the Nikon Z6 Z7. These cameras offer 8bit internal recording and 10bit NLog when using an external recorder like the Atomos Ninja one of the upcoming updates will push this to 12bit thats over 68 billion colorsAll I can say about this is I cant wait to try it myself.ConclusionEarlier I stated that the Z6 did not make the cut, the sole reason for this is the lack of sharpness of the image produced, which I believe will easily be resolved by the Z7s 45 Megapixel sensor. Id also like to add that the bar had been set pretty high by my current camera the D850.All in all, I would highly recommend all three of the cameras Ive spoken of in this post Nikons D850, Z6, and Z7. They are all amazing and well worth the cost in my honest opinion. If your strictly interested in photography stick with the D850 or Z7. If filmmaking is more your style Id imagine either of the Z series will do a fine job.

I have to admit, I was nervous about going mirrorless. I was looking at this and the D750. I read mixed stuff about jumping into Nikons mirrorless line since it was so young, but Im so glad I did. It has so many features The workability is very similar to the DSLR too, contrary to what I had heard. One of my favorite things that I didnt know about was that it will automatically change modes for the type of sensor your lens is for FX or DX. I also love that the viewfinder or live view will adjust to your eye as you change settings e.g., if you increase shutter speed, the image you see get darker to give you a better idea of what your image will look like. It also works very well in low light. I used it on 20,000 iso and it was way better than my D5300 on like 6400.Negative It uses an XQD card theyre expensive. But, it will hold more on smaller GB. I have a 64 and it will hold over 1,000 pics.PS the turtle images are pictures off my desktop.

Used many mirrorless systems and this is buy for the most ergonomic and fun to use. Fits really nicely in the hand, all the controls are layed out nicely. A shame there isnt an abundance of Z series lenses yet, but the free adapter it comes with on some packages allows seamless transition to the F mount lenses.WARNINGThis camera does not have internal focusing, so any lens without an internal motor will not auto focus will this camera. But this camera does offer focus peaking, allowing very easy auto focus on older screw drive F mounts.

Needed a full frame..looked at the D780 and this camera, read the reviews, looked at the photos on line and decided since I already had the batteries that came with my D500 and the Frames per second, nice firm grip on this camera I would take a chance. I picked up the FTZ at the same time for 50 vice 250 and am very satisfied with using my Nikon 300MM F4 PF ED and my APs 24120 lens on it. The FTZ doesnt add any noticeable bulk. The photos are tack sharp. Very satisfied.

Having been away from camera based photography as opposed to using a cellphone for a long time and needing to upgrade to help get my business going, i purchased based on everything i had read, plus talking to persons i knew who were knowledgeable on the subject, a C…n T7i. Nice camera for sure. After noticing the deals that were being offered on the Nikon Z6 plus lenses, accessories, etc… i took a chance and have not looked back From the 1st press of the shutter, it was wow An excellent asset, very well made, no issues whatsoever, i highly recommend it.

I traded my D500 to move to this new footprint. I had found the D500 to be too heavy for rambling around and used it less and less as a result unfortunate as I thought it to be the best body Id ever owned. I had not considered mirrorless until I came across the Z6 an old SLR guy. Ive not looked back since getting the Z6 and still thrilled by the image quality from the NIKKOR Z 2470mm F4 S lens. Full frame is brilliant a step up from the D500. The EVF is excellent and I have no issues with battery life or single card. So no regrets at all and out taking pictures again which is the best outcome. Looking forward to the new S lens range release for my best body ever Z6. No negatives at all for this camera.

I was flipped out with the first five photos I took with this camera. The ISO was an insane for me 21000 and even 51000. I have never in my life used an ISO above 5000. And the shots were crisp enough to be useable. I did a happy dance. Also, the movie quality also caused me to give up my quest to have a dedicated video camera. The Z killed 2 birds with one stone for me. If is a technical marvel. Speaking of which, I have no issues with small things that has been reported as negatives. It is a machine folks. ALL machines have compromises. The Z6 is no exception. I have fallen in love with photography all over again.

First off, the shipping was extremely fast. I was skeptical about the size of this camera due to it being a smaller body than the previous DSLRs that I own. However, when I received the Z6 it fit very comfortable in my hands. I purchased the 85mm instead of having the kit lens. I did some test shoots with it before actually taking it out, everything went smooth. This past Saturday I used the Z6 in my first outdoor photoshoot and I was blow away at how great the images looked straight out of the camera. This is a versatile camera that can easily be used for a wide array of activities. I have not used it enough to say any obvious cons about it. Yes it only comes with 1 card slot and nonrotatingswivel LCD but those do not bother me and are not that big of a need.

After doing my research and looking at all the options in this price range I waited about a year to purchase this. I tried to talk my self into something else again and again but I continued to go back to this camera. The Z6 is a amazing change from a DSLR the Mirrorless options allow way more uses and user friendly modes. For 2400 this is an amazing camera but for 1800 you cant pass it up. I purchased it refurbished with the 2470 f4 and have absolutely no regrets. it was perfect no noticeable issues or scratches or anything. So if you want Nikon and you want mirrorless this is an amazing deal. Just go for it you wont regret it, and if your worried about the 2470 f4 being a cheep kit lens. It may be a kit lens but it is a beautiful start the the z mount lineup.

Just for reference, Im coming back into photography after a circa five year total and utter break. Part of the reason for that was I made every rookie error to be made when I set up my first kit. I too mistakenly thought that buying pro equipment would give me pro pictures. Being very fortunate to be able to indulge, I bought a D3, then D4, 2470 2.8, 70200 2.8 ,1224 2.8 and 85 1.4. Of course, all that equipment is terrific in the right hands. Even I can take a good shot with the 85 1.4, my goodness what a lens…. But its all so HEAVY. I knew that for me, the weight and complexity of the pro equipment from before significantly contributed to me not wanting to take photos anymore. It was just all too bloody hard. My wife could hardly hold the D4 and 2470 combo. Due to my own failings, I never really got a good shot with the 70200 2.8 except on a tripod, which is the exact opposite of what I wanted this time around. Totally my own fault of course. Anyway, a couple of months ago, out of the blue, I started getting a hankering to take photos again. I started looking around the online shops to each their own but Adorama is my favourite… and review sites at what was contemporary. I knew I still wanted really great quality, stills and video, but I was well over the pro gear obviously, and I wanted easy to use, hand held and light weight. I was very excited to find the Z range as it seemed to be targeted right at me After a little bit of careful consideration, I bought the Z6, the allrounder model. It was definitely the right model for me, and Im very very happy with my decision. Just to complicate things, Im now on medication that makes my hands shake quite a bit jittery. Not exactly optimum for all handheld shooting one might say. Well, I just cant tell you how happy I am with the decision to buy a Z6 Its fantastic. Lightweight, but still solid in the hands somehow. Much easier for the hobbiest to use. I do try and brace myself as much as possible, but I dont have to. AF works like a dream. I get great, clean, beautifully focused photos every time. Every time. I love it Just get one, you wont regret it. I rate the Z6 as five stars…TBC.

I purchased this item and it arrived on time. However, when I opened the unsealed box I noted the camera manual and lens warranty card were unpacked, the condition of the manual was clearly used and the warranty card for the camera was missing. Also, the lens warranty card was in the camera box.Overall, a disappointing experience given the value of the item though Very customer service was admirable as they offered to take the item back and waive the delivery charge. As usual, and unlike other companies, Nikon waited to develop a superb product before releasing. Everything works flawlessly on this camera, including the muchmaligned autofocus. It works great for snapshots, and I dont understand why people who consider themselves serious videographers are using autofocus anyway I think BestBuy was getting annnoyed with me as I purchased multiple mirrorless cameras other brands and couldnt get over the fact that they felt, performed and sounded like plastic toys, so I returned them. The Z6 is a keeper though. Images are flawless, as are videos. Get one today and never look back

Being a long time Nikon user, I realized the great opportunity to change to mirrorless and keep my old lenses with the incredible FTZ adapter. This camera is amazing in every single point. I havent used the Z6 for all too long, but so far it has been great. The cameras ergonomics and handling are outstanding, far better than the Fuji XT2 I sold which was slow and cumbersome albeit fun to use. I wish Nikon would bring a little bit of the Fuji fun and programmability to the Z series aperture rings on lenses, more Fn buttons, less fixed labeled buttons, but thats really minor as from a pure ergonomic performance the Z6 is better than the Fuji. The touch display is very usable and helpful, the buttons nicely raised and very tactile, the overall size of the camera reasonalbe not too small like the Sony A7 series and not too large like for example the Fuji XH1. Again, Nikon has found a great balance.Regarding image quality, there isnt that much to say its excellent, on par or better than all recent cameras in this range. Image quality has become a nonissue for camera selection. What surprised me the most is how consistent the results are. Ive created an import preset for Lightroom in an afternoon, which sets colors, contrast, etc to my personal style and its pretty much a oneclickaffair now. Im saving hours and hours on every single photo shoot compared to the cameras I havve used before. Thats a side benefit I didnt expect and that made me REALLY love this system.Cant wait to round out the lens range for me missing the 24 and 85mm lenses right now, plus a lightweight 300mm f4 prime.I did not expect Nikons first FF mirrorless camersa to be so good, but they actually are. They are better overall packages than the fifth revision of Fujifilms X mirrorless cameras for me, better than the Canon EOS R which I also own, and also better than the Sony A7 cameras which have suboptimal ergonomics and terrible software menu usability. Could I get use to them Sure, but why would I if there are other cameras out there.Things I wish were differenta I dont mind the XQD card all too much, but still wish I could share cards with my other cameras.b I wish the front control dial was a bit more around the grip towards the lens mount, I have to fold my finger back to reach it.c Some more programmability would be nice.d Picture profiles are laughably bad compared to Fujis outstanding film simulations.e I wish there was a proper battery grip, even though the battery itself lasts quite long.f I was hoping for some more programmability of the shutter and AF system. This is sitll very basic. Nikon can certainly improve this, it remains to be seen whether they will.

Pros Image quality fantastic. A lowlight monsterIBS even with my old lenses. Ditch the tripod.Hand feel As good as it gets.Works with classic manual lenses. That viewfinder Amazing.Cons Design of the FMount FTZ adapter design is really bad. Nikon needs to develop a Mk II and quick. Needs to have an AFD motor included.Oh those huge warhorse lenses. These appeal to Nikons ego and some pro photographers, but increasing IQ at the expense of exponentially increasing weight, size and cost doesnt suit most of us. An alternative line of small fast lenses at the expense of a little IQ is a required.

I purchased this as an upgrade to my D5100 which I handed down to my son. The ergonomics of the controls are definitely an upgrade, as are the ISO sensitivity and autofocus. The touch screen controls are great. This is a very well thought out product. The menus are similar to past products, but more easily accessible, especially though the touch screen. Whereas Im used to selecting my own ISO and AE settings, this camera will have you relying on the computer to do the hard work for you. For the enthusiast photographer you will not be disappointed.

Sprung for the refurbished version of the Z6 24704 S combo, which basically made the lens free. You lose the longer Nikon warranty, but for the money saved, its worth the risk.About the camera, briefly… easily the best allaround mirrorless camera to date. Amazing build quality, exactly what you would expect transitioning from a Nikon DSLR to mirrorless. Beautiful EVF that, for the first time, did not make me miss an optical viewfinder. The 24704 S is a wonderful lens very compact but CONSISTENTLY sharp across the frame. A little field curvature at long distance, but thats about the only downside. The 501.8 S is near Otuslevel quality.Battery life is FAR better than EIPA ratings or some reviews would suggest. Im easily getting 12001400 shots per charge and I rarely take more than 2 photos of the same subject. Im a pretty slow and deliberate shooter, not a burst shooter.Only wish that it had a second SD card slot and, more importantly to me, a vertical grip. Also, I wish the refurbished version had come with a manual. Yes, you can download this online, but I like having a physical copy. Not a big deal. Rarely had to consult the manual and wont have to ever again most likely.Below shots taken with iPhone 8, not the Z6 obviously

I have taken some pics of the birds in the my backyard and love the features, the XQD card very fast buffering, but I am use to it with my D500. It will be useful if you can compare this camera with Panasonic, Sony or Canon. I cant remember the exactly models I compared it with, but anyone can have a look on line. Purchased a Z6 in my return to photography. The last digital I had was a D700 and I had pretty much every one of that class leading up to it. The technology of of the Z6 is amazing and being able to see your exposure ahead of time as well as focus peaking is amazing for still subjects. I had two major gripes with the camera that made it unusable for me. The first is a common complaint, which is the AF. Im not sure where exactly the problem lies, but the AF seems slow to focus and is often just slightly off even when it says its on. I show some cars at the track and even in perfect light it had trouble locking on and staying focused as I panned. I had to throw away at least 14 of my shots just for focus FYI that was in WideS mode with the subject filling the entire focus box perfectly. The problem even reared its head in the studio doing a portrait session with several photos being slightly soft for no apparent reason. Im not a huge fan of subject detection and autotracking, but Im looking forward to see if their new firmware with eyeAF improves the system a bit. The fact is, my D300 was focusing more accurately and consistently than the Z6, so I had to send it back. D850 is on its way instead.

The light gathering is beyond phenomenal. I take night time photos with day light quality. It is fast and quiet. Still waiting on the Nikon 70200 lens to come out but the other two lens I use are excellent. If I had to propose a negative, the battery meter could be more sensitive. the meter goes from reading 100 battery to less than 25 very quickly and it doesnt draw attention to itself when reading low battery. The batteries do charge very quickly and I have a 2nd battery so I dont run out of juice. I love the camera though.

Nikon Z6 is an easy to use cameramost of the desired settings are intuitive and easy to remember. Z6 is quite a performer compared to the much more pricey Z7. Z6 can certainly yield professional results even though technically i.e. CMOS sensor it is not as stateoftheart at the Z7. It is a very competent camera given the priceperformance comparison parameter. In terms of support from Nikon, while the written queries to Nikon were not satisfactory in terms of response time, the Nikon Hotline support for real time troubleshooting and support was superb.

I would have given 5 stars but I havent had a lot of time to work with this camera. A lot of things to like on the Z6. I like to keep up with new technology. The only draw back is the qxd card that is needed for the camera it is pricey and you also need the card reader to download your pictures and do updates. So far Im having fun with this camera and happy I purchased. Ill know more after our vacation to decide if it was worth the price. Ill still have my D7500 on vacation as well. GREAT CAMERA I Love this camera Not perfect, as its a well known fact that the eyefocus is not quite to SONYs level, but it is fast catching up, and good enough for most situations that I shoot in. However, Nikons support of this camera has been phenomenal Almost every two months or so, a new update, which usually means a new upgrade to the focusing capabilities of the camera. As for this set from Adorama, it has been really great A nice combo to get started with, even though I had some of the items. Great value for the money, though Thanks, Adorama

The camera is awesome I have shot ski shows concerts dark events its low light is unbelievable very fast buffer clears almost instantly. Old camera is a d810 and for dark fast or video it kills the 810 portraits and product shoots Im sticking with the 810. Battery last almost 3000 shoots I do not know why Nikon quotes it so low. The camera is absolutely awesome buy one you will not be sorry 99 of the complaints online is complete BULL I did not buy the 850 because I needed low light and video and its no better than the 810 in that arena. Can say enough about how good this camera is. Just connect the camera to your phone and you have your second slot in your pocket Ive never saved to sets of Raws it slows the camera down too much when doing this it keeps you clock perfect gps info on pics and use no extra battery on phone or camera as I can tell after setup just pul out your camera turn it on with phone in range and it all happens in the back ground SnapBridge does not have to be open for it to work. Awesome camera and a very good kit lens, amazing value for what you get. Be mindful of XQD memory cards and their price if you dont already have one prepare to spend another 140 for a 64gb card, thats the minimum size I would recommend. CFexpress is another format that this camera supports but only after 2.2 firmware I believe. A card reader is required to update firmware and the newest firmware is highly suggested, as of this writing newest firmware is 3.0, update as soon as you receive it for best experience

I have had other dlsr cameras from nikon so the button placements and menu system is easy to navigate and use. Still learning the capabilities of what this camera can do like time lapse and focus stacking among others, this is not a camera for beginners too many features that would not be used, but for a person with some knowledge of how cameras work it would be a great piece of equipment to buy I would highly recommend it to any advanced users

As a long time Nikon user, when the time came to switch to fullframe mirrorless, the logical choice was the Z6. Switching from the heavy but wonderful D750, the Z6 is smaller and lighter, but is packed with features electronic viewfinder, touch screen, blazingly fast XQD card, eye and face detect autofocus. It will take me a while to master all the new features, but what fun that task will be Any Nikon user will love the intuitive menu system and the fact the you can use the touch screen to scroll through and select settings. The touch screen can also be used to set the focus area and even to take the shot. The fully programmable user buttons are familiarly placed on the weather sealed body and the 2470mm f4 kit lens is amazing. Buy the FTZ adapter if you have other F fit lenses and away you go. The price of this kit is competitively priced at John Lewis, plus you get the benefit of their 2 year guarantee. Allinall, a nobrainer

I did a lot of research on the z6 before buying and Im very very happy with my mirrorless camera. Nikon has never been very good for Video but this camera takes video to another level. The photos are amazing and as a whole, this camera feels like an extension of the user. Quick or indepth menus, the customization allows you to make this camera all about you. In short If you want an incredible camera, this one will not disappoint. If you shoot Nikon or are looking to move, you should look at the z6. I did for months, and this camera still has me going wow

The Z62470 f4 S lens FTZ was my first entry into the mirrorless world was intended to compliment my D750 for theater and portrait work. So far I have used it for a high school play a sports banquet. I am absolutely delighted with few exceptions Illuminated buttons would be nice to have a longer battery use time just bring a few extra are minor considering the many other benefits. I shoot a D5 120300 f2.8 for outdoor sports as well while Id never expect the Z6 to replace it,Ill bring the Z6 to events with a shorter lens for candids, bench, crowd shots. The lowlight capabilities are fantastic I find the convenience flexibility of the menu system especially for metering makes me wish the D750 could even come close to it.Based on the strength of the Z6, I traded in a good bit of other kit well done Adorama to add a Z7 which will now be my dedicated portrait camera Ill add the S version of the 85mm lens when available to use wmy go to 105 f1.4 Eno regrets

The Z6 takes incredible pictures. I use it mostly for Photography. Touch screen is very nice. Continuos focus tracking is good. Viewfinder is good for a mirrorless camera. I like the small body size and modern styling. Body vibration reduction is awesome. I reprogrammed the first function button to be an exposure lock but its hard to reach at times. In comparison to the D750. Focus isnt as fast. Body grip isnt as good. Though it could be the programming, there are times where the camera has decided it didnt want to take the picture. For me this is one of the biggest innovations from Nikon in a long time.

This refurbished camera body came in excellent condition. I use it as a second body so that I can have my 2 most used lenses ready to go instead of changing lenses on location. Now I have a Z6 and a Z7. Love both.

I absolutely love this camera From the great and comfortable handling to the awesome functions, it checks all the boxes. It has that familiar Nikon user interface and great build quality. The big bright electronic viewfinder is amazing and the controls and touch screen work so good. I have been shooting the Z mount 2470 f4, 35mm f1.8, 50mm f1.8, and 85mm f1.8 lenses and they are all fantastic. I will include some pictures taken with the camera here. I also shoot some F mount lenses with the FTZ adapter and they all work perfectly. If you are interested in shooting old vintage Nikon or other lenses the Z6 is a perfect match The InBody Image Stabilization along with the focus peaking works wonders. I use cheap adapters to adapt the old lenses to the Z6. You can buy all the gear I am talking about here on Adorama I would definitely recommend the Z6 to anyone looking to get a mirrorless camera or any camera for that matter. Adorama makes the whole purchase process smooth The Z6 is my favorite camera to date and I have shot with a lot of them. You wont be disappointed.

The rapid frames per second is an attractive feature for us sports photographers. Camera is lightweight, the new improved battery lasts all day for those long track meets, the handle curvature to the camera is perfect for the hand and comfortable to hold, some cameras have fatigued my hand in a short period of time. Pictures crisp and colorful, camera quiet in shooting but has an amazing features that completely eliminates the shutter noise for those wedding photographer types. Management of low light is incredible. All in all, one of the best cameras I have used.

After a few weeks of owning this camera I can honestly say I love it. The top features for me are the deep, rich textured images, the elegant, seamless userexperience and the sheer elegance with which it operates. Autofocus operation is slick, near silent and virtually instant with native lens and improves the usability of nonnative lenses. The Z 2470 f4 S Lens belies its dainty size with its stellar sharpness and essentially silent and instant autofocus operation. I just updated the firmware to 2.0 and am excited to experience and even more capable and confidenceinspiring product from Nikon.

I waited and waited. I read all the reviews. I watched all the YouTube videos, okay maybe not all but a lot of them. I tried and tested out my friends copy of this beautiful camera. I finally got my own and it was not a mistake. This social distancing has obviously prevented me from doing any shoots but what I was able to do before all this went down was great. I am looking forward to do more with this cam and take it through its paces

Solid camera. Big upgrade from my D600. That one had a good sensor but limited functionality. This camera is a whole new ballgame. Really shows the flaws of older lenses. Newer High quality lenses really shine on this camera. The adapter works great thus far. Tight and light. Looking forward to more Z lenses for native use. I had a momentary issue with the eyestart switching between viewfinder and monitor not working, but it was just dust on the sensor.

Everything the other reviewers say is true , I am sure. But the camera and probably the Z7 as well have some annoying glitches when trying to use older lenses. You all know that AF and AFD lenses are manual focus on these bodies. But what Nikon and the reviewers have not told you is that the camera turns off the lightmeter display when you are using AI lenses in Manual Exposure. There is no logical reason for this, just a programming error, though Nikon Tech Support will lie about this. You do get the lenss focal length in your EXIF data, which is nice. But you do not get that info using a third party adapter, for, say, Leica M lenses.Nikon could fix these and other things with firmware, but first they would have to admit there is a problem. And they seem a bit arrogant for that.Nikon could really have improved some things with this camera system. They could have allowed full aperture viewing and metering with manual lenses, which would have made it the obvious choice for such high end lenses as Zeiss, but they chose not to do it.Its a fine camera and system, almost as good as Sony, but they did drop the ball on some things.

Upgraded from a D3200. Images using the Nikkor Z 50mm lens, compared to the 50mm DX lens, came out sharper in addition to the full frame benefits. Settings were intuitive coming from an older generation. The refurbished unit had no scratches or defects from what I inspected. Looking forward to using this cameras higher ISO capabilities for nightastro photography.

Order this online with Argos as Amazon had failed to deliver on time. Price was exactly the same as with Amazon. Ordering and collection process went like a dream. The camera itself is simply outstanding. I have used Nikon DSLRs before so knew my way around the camera quite quickly. The Z6 truly is a semi professional camera to replace the D600D700series. So fast and responsive even an old photographer like me cant find much to complain about. Get an extra battery, though. And remember it uses XQDCFastcards only, which is a bit of a bummer. But the portability, speed, image and video quality is worth it Oh, and the adaptor works well, although Id go for the new Slenses if you can.

Im a professional photographer. Have been since 84. Ive used Leica, Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Contax, Hasselblad, Rollei, and even 4×5 Sinars and Linhofs. I have been waiting for mirrorless to be taken seriously by the big two Nikon and Canon, or was going to go Sony. Now I know which way to go. This is a fantastic camera. The image quality is phenomenal. Video too. The kit lens that came with it, the 2470 f4 Nikkor S, is amazing. Matched with this camera or the Z7 from Nikon, its a stunning performer. As good as anything Ive used, zoomwise, and even better than most prime lenses Ive used in the past. The camera takes some study and getting used to. Its definitely not point and shoot. But with practice and study, it becomes an extension of you with very easy to use menus. Way better than the competition. And it has much better weather sealing than the Sony mirrorless cameras. It is now my favorite camera. Im selling everything else.

Best camera purchase Ive ever made. Video is amazing esp now paired with a Ninja V. No issues so far with the camera. The banding in low light is terrible. Thats the only thing I dont like about it. Not sure there is a settings solution. The 2470mm f4 is a surprisingly good lens however has some significant warping around the subject during video that makes this footage unusable unless severely cropped. Will be buying another z6 soon.

Brilliantly clear and crisp images, outstanding VR, and with the FTZ adaptor my FX lenses are fully functional and work beautifully. Noise at high ISO seems to be minimal too. Great Camera, but wish it had better USB support. Nikon does not support a mass storage mode with usb for transferring, so you must use their file transfer utility when using usb, so you cannot upload anything to the card unless you use a card reader, so to update the firmware of the camera you must have a card reader, since they dont make a utility to do that over USB. I really dont like that, but not a deal breaker. For the short period I have had it, so far it has worked just as Ive expected it to.This is no reflection on camera, but I would like to note how disappointed I was in the shipping when I ordered this. Not only did UPS tracking tell me it was on the truck out for delivery days ahead of it actually being delivered, they just left my purchase worth several thousand dollars on the doorstep without even getting a signature. Luckily nobody came and stole it.

Works much better than I had hoped. The new menu items take some getting used to, but in a good way. The focus system with my F mount lenses works just fine with no issues that Ive noticed. Images are sharp and contrasty. Battery life is just fine. I havent killed mine off shooting all day. Camera is smaller and lighter than my D500, but it feels good in the hands and substantial to hold. EVF is a game changer. I was all about the optical style view finders, no more. Nikon did right on this one

I am happy to say that for my limited one evening experience so far, the Z6 has been better than I expected. The camera feels solid with the FTZ and the 2470 nonVR mounted. Using the EVF does not feel as strange as I expected. I do have to admit that I will have to get used to the fact that not everything is via the buttons. Other than that, we will see. At the moment, I am writing this review to get my 5 year warranty started. I will write a more detailed one once I have spent some time with it. I had been tossing between a D850 and a Z7 for a few months. Choosing the latter is a change in philosophy. I ignored the Z6 as I did not read any noise about it. All reviews and websites are focussed on lack of autofocus tracking on the Z7.

I actually drove about an hour each way to see this camera in person and try it out since these are difficult to find in stores. I actually was looking at it as a essentially a sanity check, because I was strongly leaning toward the D750 instead of this camera. One of my main concerns about switching to mirrorless was, of course, EVFs vs OVFs. I will say this the EVF on most modern mirrorless cameras is excellent, but what Nikon has done with the Z series OLED EVF is a step above. In certain very low light situations, an OVF is probably a little bit better, but overall, I now prefer the EVF. The exposure preview is excellent although this is true on just about any mirrorless. The main advantage to this camera over other mirrorless cameras is usability and ergonomics. This camera has an excellent user interface and the ergonomics are superb. It feels great to hold. Not all is perfect about this camera. Many reviewers complained that the camera only has one card slot. This is a valid concern, but it is not insurmountable. For photographers that need redundancy, the camera has WiFi builtin, and can automatically transfer files to a computer over that WiFi connection. It isnt perfect and I certainly would prefer two card slots, but for me at least, it isnt a dealbreaker. This camera does use XQD instead of SD cards. Some users have complained about the switch because XQD is much more expensive than SD. This is true XQD cards are expensive. However, Im very happy with the switch 14bit uncompressed RAW files out of this camera get close to 50MB. The data transfer speed of XQD is much, much faster than SD, and this is the kind of camera that needs it.Nikon says CFExpress support is coming soon in a firmware update, so I would probably buy as few cards as you need along with a card reader and wait for the even faster CFExpress. For now though, Im really impressed with XQD compared to SD I think it is worth the significant price bump. Some might like the touchscreen, and Ive found it useful in a few instances. However, Ive also accidently taken pictures I didnt want to with the touchscreen. I generally find the buttons easier, but the touchscreen is there if I want to use it.Battery life is not a good as many DSLRs, but that is the nature of mirrorless. A second battery is probably a good idea with this camera although it was also a good idea with DSLRs.Technically, the camera handles high ISO very well, but eventually, if ISO is high enough, of course images wont be usable. The included 2470 f4.0 S lens is extremely sharp at every aperture. Of course, many photographers will find the f2.8 version of that lens to be more suitable for their work. Many reviewers and even Nikon themselves have compared the Z6 to the D750, and the Z7 to the D850. I would argue that these comparisons are somewhat inaccurate the only things that are really similar between the cameras are the resolutions. Essentially, the Z6 is really just a lower resolution Z7 and fewer autofocus points. Everything else is basically identical with the Z6 actually being higher performance on a few specs. For example, the Z6 and Z7 both have builtin focus stacking features. On the DSLRs, the D850 has that feature, not the D750. So in some ways, other than resolution, the Z6 is closer to the D850 than the D750.Overall, this is a great camera. Is it perfect No. But it was the only camera that wowed me enough to get me to switch to mirrorless. For that, in my opinion, Nikon has a winner.

After weeks of online reading, reviews, opinions, and comparisons, I finally settled on the Z6. I may not know too much about photography, but weather sealing, image stabilization, a full frame sensor, and 4K video, my other choices seemed to lack one of them. Time will tell if I made the right choice, but with the limited amount of playing around Ive done, Im happy. Could the battery life be longer, sure, but in all reality I was looking at nature and landscape photography, so I didnt feel it would be a major issue. Again, time will tell.

I purchased this Nikon Z6 camera because it was designed and promoted to be very good at video and lowlight images. It is I chose this over the D750 and D780. I am glad that I did. I am really enjoying the benefits of mirrorless imaging. The colors pop and the autofocusing in low light is good. It is easy to hold and feels good in my hand. This camera was easy to use right out of the box. It is well built, solid, and feels like it would survive a drop. Lets hope I dont find out The Z lenses are super sharp. I have been selling my F mount lenses for Z mount lenses. The F mount lenses that I am keeping work great on the Z6 with FTZ adaptor. Lenses have a secure fit. When paired with S lenses, images are incredibly sharp and colorful. The lowlight ability of this camera is astounding. Easily able to shoot up to ISO 25600 before image quality falls off noticeably. Id feel confident shooting up to 12800 without losing signifcant amounts of image quality. Battery life is great for a mirrorless. Nowhere near as longlasting as a DSLR but definitely better than the Sony equivalent. Adapter works well with Nikkor lenses, havent tried it with 3rd party lenses. Sold a really good Sony A7RIII to get the Z6 . Is the Z6 a more capable camera Absolutely not , it just feels better to use despite some minor shortcomings and I say minor because neither shortcoming has prevented me from getting the images I want . These shortcomings are the one card slot no review would be complete without the mention and the supposed AF issues . For me the AF works pretty good and now via firmware eye AF has been added which makes portraits pretty easy . You will not be able to use the eye AF for people a football field away , but a few feet away in portrait range it works in stellar fashion . The Z6 is a joy to use and Im glad Im back with Nikon . As a long term Nikon user of over 30 years I was delighted that the old F mount lenses work perfectly on the new Z mount. I have both the new Z 2470mF4 and 1430m F4 which are incredibly sharp. The screen display is bright and clear and the menu system is straight forward to use. I tend to use it in silent mode with just the electronic shutter which gives vibration free shots when using a 10 yrs old 200mm Micro Nikkor for extreme macro work. I can take small insects in the field without flash and get very sharp shots. I still use and like the D500 for birds in flight photos as that camera has a legendary reputation for its tracking capability. I will be trying the Z6 for tracking over the next few weeks. Low level light performance is superb on the Z6 and I have no hesitation working all day at 3200 ISO if necessary. Generally my default ISO is 800.

The Nikon Z6 is a lot of camera I get the feeling that Nikon put way more money into developing this camera than they are getting out, likely to get people to move over to the Z system. It worked on me Its hands down, a great camera that is about to have pro res RAW soon externally a first But as of the internal recording, the footage and images paired with the Nikon Z 35mm 1.8 lens, are stunning. I shoot primarily low light video, I also own a A7sii and the Z6 blows it away. No blocky noise like the A7sii has, still love the A7s, but the Z6 is my new go too it is also very easy to use with buttons and dials nicely located. Very happy with the Z6

Pros This camera replaced my D7100 which has given good service and which I still use, exchanging all my lenses using the FTZ adapter The image quality is improved from the D7100 but not to the extent that is noticeable unless you want to print at A3 or larger. Auto focus is faster especially when using long focus FX lenses I do not at this point have any Z mount lenses so can not comment on the full performance of the camera Hand held at slow shutter speed is defiantly in improvement over the D7100 I do a lot of bird and wildlife photography and the focus tracking works reasonably well.Cons The main downside is the flash arrangement on the Z6. I have two SB700 speedlights which I use off camera for closeup work when used on my D7100 the built in flash triggers them. However The Z6 requires radio operation to do this. This is an expensive operation. Requiring the purchase of an SB5000 or a SU800 radio transmitter. The cheapest option the SU800 AT 350.00 the other downside is the screw boss in the base of the camera is not deep enough I always have a swissplate attached to my cameras and I have had to grind the bottom of the screws in order to get them to tighten correctly. The two buttons at the side of the lens and adjacent to the hand grip, are too close to the hand grip and can inadvertently operated in error when the camera is in use. Lightroom 6 will not accept the downloaded images, you are required to convert them to DNGs before any editing of RAW material can be done

Ive owned the D750, but 2 years ago jumped ship to Fuji and Sony. Not knowing when Nikon will join the mirrorless race. They are both fine in a different way, Fujis JPEG color can not be matched, no matter what anybody is telling you, and the dials are not just beautiful but very useful. Sonys AF is untouchable if that is very important to you, I thing they will always be ahead in AF, they had an early start and will not relax about it, just look at the junkie A6400, but AF man..ahead of the curve …everything about the Sony is OK, just OK though..The Z6 video tops the rest, loosing the AF to Sony eye AF is coming everything else is OK or better. There are no perfect camera for everything, but Ive purchased it for the future not for the past Z mount Sony will switch to a bigger mount in 3 years and all the sony people will cry.. I end up using the kit lens 90 of the time. I shoot in the flat profile and give the picture a film look in post. Excellent results. I hope to be using this camera for years to come.

I have been using Nikon DSLRs for twenty some years. I took to this mirrorless camera right away. I like the size and weight of the Z6 and I find it balances nicely. even using the FTZ adapter. The camera is solid and has a good build quality. It feels like a sturdier camera than some of the Nikon prosumer DSLRs. I love the customizable features and am able to set up the camera controls the way I am used to. I plan to use the Z6 for all my event work but will have to get extra batteries as the battery seems a bit short lived.

Nikon took a while to get into the mirrorless full frame camera market, but the result is an unmistakably Nikon Camera. If you are a Nikon lover that has been waiting to make the jump, but see that the future is mirrorless, this is a solid camera.I came from a D750. I tried a GH5 because of outstanding video and people were talking about how much smaller and lighter M43 was. The truth is, if you MATCH the glass, you do not save much of anything. A D750 with an 85F1.8 compared to the GH5 with a 42.5 F1.2 35mm equivalent to 85mm with F2.4 DOF was within one battery of weight, and you needed the extra battery on the GH5.I went through a Sony A7RII and A7III. One, Sony lenses are expensive and heavy. I also didnt like the menu system. I thought it was far to much trouble to just manually focus when the camera and I disagreed on the subject. Finally there are the options for saving images. The latest firmware on A7III give us 1. Uncompressed Raw giant files. 2. Jpegs except for certain use cases, why spend this kind of money to shoot cell phone images, and 3. Compressed RAW but it is a LOSSY compression. Why would anyone want thatThe Z6 is a Nikon. It gives a Dynamic range that matches or exceeds the D750. You get a stabilized sensor to help with slow shutter or video. The firmware in May will bring eye tracking AF, but the current subject tracking isnt bad at all. The pictures coming out of the camera look good, even at higher ISO.The battery life could be better, but if you dont leave wifi on and work reasonable, a single battery will last a LOT longer that 330 shots. I have been able to go all day on one battery.Memory card slots. Yes, this camera has only one XQDCF Express slot and yes, they are expensive. They are quite reliable. I didnt have trouble with SD cards as far as it goes, but these are even better. One slot is good enough for Aria, and they are FAR more expensive than this. Your mileage may vary, but it was never an issue for me. I WISH there were two, but I can easily leave with one.I also really like the display on top for things you see on the other Nikons. It boots up and take pictures faster than the Sony, especially after a batter swap. The A7III could take a good 15 seconds if the batter was changed. 1.21.5 on the Nikon. The FTZ adaptor gets all the old F mount glass work so you can patiently wait for your favorites, but the 2470F4 is probably the best kit lens in the history of kit lenses. It is a cut WELL above what you usually see.

Let me say that buying refurbed was the cheaper alternative, but also one that makes you hesitant to buy sometimes. The packaging on each individual piece was outstanding and everything looks new. In fact, it is hard to tell that this was not new, other than its packaging not being in a retail box. I am very happy with the condition of this camera, but this camera takes amazing photos and the IBIS is amazing, even when using adapted F mount lenses. This does not come with the FTZ adapter, I purchased it separately.

I was on the fence for a long time about mirrorless, especially given the significant investment I have in Nikon glass. I still have my DSLRs and being able to use my lenses has made the Z6 a great first step. Its great for portraits, landscapes and family photos. I have a D500 for sports and wildlife so I dont plan to use the Z for that. Now Im waiting for the newer Z series lenses to come out to see what to add. Im thinking the faster 50mm might be worth it.

I sold my Sony a7 because the EVF separated me from the subject, I lost the contact. I was astounded how much better Z6 is. Picture quality is great. Integration with Atomos Ninja V makes it a great camera for video although the onboard video recording is very good. Only issue for me is that cannot charge it with the USBC connector while using the camera.

The picture quality is impressive. It is in the description but be aware, that the camera does not user normal SD Cards. Made for XQD Cards, which are bigger and more expensive but are necesary because the quality is way higher.Unfortunately there is only one card slot, which can be a problem, when you prefer to have redundance with your data. For those, who want it, should wait for the Mark II versions of both since it looks like Nikon is already working on it.I am a Nikon persion and wanted to work with well known system. Though not all buttoms and dials are the same as with my D5300, the set up is pretty easy to get in and I like that I can use the glass I already have with the adapter. BH has a sweet deal on that actually. The kit lens is nice, a bit short sure but does the job for a walk through the park. Since I am mainly into Portrait and Event Photography I rather use a good primary but the quality f the 24 70 is quite nice. oN the long sure will be relace by the 7200 which also has a better fstop.

The camera is great over all. Its a good step up from my d750 and with the eye autofocus update its very comparable to the Sony A73 I was considering. The accessories are a bit expensive like the XQD card and the card reader Lexar reader works very well. I use a Z mount for my old Nikon glass and the performance is just as good as the D750 when focusing. I havent used the video much but from what I have seen its WAY better than the D750. The image quality is great and the low light performance is really good. The size of the camera is perfect and having the digital view finder is a big bonus. Its makes using the D750 feel very dated.Cons The batter life could be better and when changing the lenses the sensor is fully exposed and can get dust on it. One memory card is fine but it would be nice to have two slots.

I bought this refurbished after my D750s shutter broke down on me during a wedding a few weeks ago. I have weddings back to back for the season so I needed a second body and thought it gave me a good reason to try out Nikons mirrorless line I also shoot with the Sony A73 and the Z6 blew it out of the water for me The color, durability, familiar Nikon menu options, and the silent shutter There are sooooo many wonderful features on the Z6 I did not intend on using it as my primary during my wedding but thats exactly what happened I did not miss my D750 at all Cant see myself shooting without the Z6 anymore

This review concerns itself with shooting video with the Z6.My 5 star rating does not mean this camera is faultless. I have done a YouTube review outlining things that will make the Z6 a much more video friendly camerathings that can easily be done with firmware. The 5 stars are for two things beautiful image qualitycolor, and lowlight performance.Ergonomics are excellent. I really love shooting with this camera. Id love it more when and if Nikon makes the improvements I suggest in my video. William Ridenour A users review of the Nikon Z6.The image out of the camera is the best Ive ever seen from mirrorless cams. My perspective Ive owned and used several cinema cams extensively, including the XC15, GH45, A7RII, A7III, Fuji XT3XH1, just to mention a few. For IQ and color the Z6 is the best of them all.The EVF and LCD are excellentmuch better than the A7III and every bit the equivalent of the XT3.I mostly shoot 3rd party lenses fully manual. But in the studio I do educational videos and use AF to record the clips. To date the Z6 is an excellent studio cam, with excellent and stable autofocus, autofocus that does not hunt in talking headstyle video, and seems as solid as Canons DPAF.I shoot a great deal hand held. Stabilization is excellentbetter than Sony, not as good as the GH5. The 3 axis stabilization I get due to using nonelectronic third party lenses is perfectly fineno complaints. I can only assume the 5.5 axis is better still, but I dont use electronic lenses enough to say for sure.I sold my Sony A7III to buy the Z6, and its hard to find the words to say how happy I am with my decision. I always liked the full frame look, but could never get satisfied with Sony skin tone and color. I hoped Nikon would be better, and it is, by far The IQ is what I always hoped to get from Sony models but never have.I really like the XQD cards. They are solid media and uploads of media are blazing fast. The old Nikon lenses work great with the new adapters, and there are excellent adapters for third party lenses. AF is just as good on the older electronic lenses as the new lenses in my experience, but to be perfectly honest, most of my shooting is with fully manual third party lenses.Theres much more to say, but just cut to the chase and look at the result. As an exclusively video shooter I cant recommend it highly enough IMOthe best full frame mirrorless yet, hands down.

Going from a Nikon D7200 to the Nikon Z6 was a huge difference. One of my main reason was for the video AF and better still photography. After taking it out for a real world test, I was amazed by its functions. I use it mainly for vlogs and still photography but planning on using it for filming soon.I love the touch to focusshutter option and the AF for video is really good. The grip and feel of the camera is amazing. One thing that did surprised me was the weight of the 2470mm lens. It was much heavier than I thought but it felt amazing in my hand. Low light photography is great as well. I also bought the mount adapter for F lens and it was awesome I highly recommended this camera if you are invested in Nikon and would like to use a mirrorless with the F lens as well as any beginner that would like a great camera that has a lot of potential as the Z series continue. Attached are unedited photos and my Youtube vlog with the Z6.

I chose the Z6 as a compliment to my D810, to excel in all the places it lacks. I shoot photo and video at an evenly split ratio. With that being said, this is a lowlight beast of a camera. It has amazing ISO performance rivalled only in my experience by the A7iii and A7S line. The ability to use all my f mount glass on this body and have even my vintage lenses suddenly stabilized, is amazing as a videographer. The filesizes are manageable and the video looks very clean with that amazing color science we have all grown to love. There are many hidden gems of features I have never seen before scattered throughout the menu system and the customization options are truly endless. I am hard pressed to suggest any other camera body for the modern hybrid shooter, especially anyone who wants to take advantage of the amazing legacy F mount glass.

I have been a Nikon user for half my life, but when it came to switching to a mirrorless camera I did think a lot about what brand I wanted to choose for the next ten years. I decided on this camera because the interface and usability is amazing and even my wife who doesnt have a ton of experience just picked it up and started using it. Some people worry about the auto focusing, but as with any camera that isnt the top of the line sports camera, there will be some missed focus but I am amazed at how many perfect focus shots I am getting.I purchased the refurbished version, and the camera is perfect, came with a shutter count below 5, and is indistinguishable from a new one, the only thing I am missing is the manual which I will purchase separately as there are a lot of settings I need to look up. It also doesnt come with the FTZ adapter but in switching to mirrorless I also decided to jump into the Z lens mount, and all of my awesome shots are happening with the kit 2470 lens. The bokah isnt as good as a professional lens, but for the price this kit is hard to complain about.I love this camera, and if you can afford it, and are in the market for a mirrorless as a nonprofessional photographer, I strongly recommend this one.

I bought this to replace my older bigger DSLR. This is a great mirrorless digital camera. If you like holding the camera up to your face, you will be surprised at how bright the digital viewfinder is and all of the information you can clearly see. If you are used to looking at a screen, the live view screen will be a natural fit for you very clear and you can take the photo video by tapping the screen rather than finding the button on top. I recommend this camera for anyone from a beginner to a semipro photographer.

Coming from m43, and specifically the original Olympus EM1, it took me a long time contemplating whether to get another system, mainly because I really like the m43 lenses, but seeing little advances in m43 technology and getting increasingly disappointed by the image quality I decided to go FF. I mainly shoot travel and landscape, as a hobby. I considered Sony, Panasonic and Nikon. The main reasons for choosing Nikon were the supposably better EVF, better build quality, better ergonomics, and having very good small f4 lenses. I wanted the Z7 but the price difference was quite big, and not being a pro it was not worth it for me.After using the camera for a few weeks here is my summaryPros Image quality is great, the ability to raise shadows and preserve highlights, without any noise or loss of detail, is really awesome. The size with the 2470 and 1430 is amazing, more or less the same as my EM1 with the 1240 f2.8, the collapsible design is a plus for me. The EVF is the best Ive used, its also great that all the info is above and below the EVF, not blocking the view.Cons The interface is quite a bit worse than I was expecting, there are various annoyances of settings that are reset when switching the camera off, some are also not being saved to the U banks, e.g the shutter timer. Also sometimes you can use only the leftright buttons, sometimes the dials, its not clear and not intuitive at all, cannot zoom with a dial, etc. The camera is not that customizable, e.g. you cannot assign any focus settings to an F button. The physical ergonomics are also not that great. When holding the camera firmly I dont find it very comfortable to reach for the shutter or many other buttons. The front dial is almost not distinguishable from the grip, using gloves I also sometimes switched the camera off. The front function buttons and the joystick feel flimsy and get pressed easily by mistake. I prefer the handling of the EM1. The screen is being held by cheap plastic. The lens hoods are made of the cheapest, thinnest plastic possible. The manual focus is abysmal, its worse with the 1430, you barely touch it and it jumps from one side to the next, really horrible in comparison to the Olympus 1240 lens, even without using the manual clutch on the Olympus. My hope is that some of these issues be fixed by a FW update. Currently I feel even the interface on my Sony RX100 IV is better. But Ive seen similar problem fixed by FW updates in the past, on the original Fuji X100 the manual focus was as horrible as on the Z6 but after the final update it was linear and much better.Final word about Adorama, I wasnt particularly happy about the ability of the support to solve problems. I made an error in using the free shipping, then I realized it is very slow and will not arrive on time to my hotel, after several calls to the support I havent received a proper solution, only eventually after calling UPS did I figure out that I can recall the original package and make a second order, by then I had to use the 1 day shipping. Also this would not have been an issue if Adorama had a 2 day free shipping like the competition or me being less cheap.

This is my version of a nearly rave review. I have zero regrets about buying the Z6, enjoy using it and am thoroughly impressed by results. But all is not perfect in Z land.Potential buyers need to audition the Z line, I did, if expecting a major decrease in bulkitude compared to optical cameras. You might find like me that overall bulkitude is not much different than a D750. The excellent 2470 kit lens is not any smaller than comparable lenses with builtin optical stabilization. Judging by current Nikon offerings future Z lenses will be of similar heft. As such there is little ergonomic advantage to using native lenses over F mount lenses with the adapter. If you have a collection of quality SD cards they are useless with this camera as Nikon chose XQD, a format with no real world advantage over SD but less common and far more pricey. Sony does everything the Z does with SD cards so . .1080 and 4k video are high quality for my purposes. I doubt most buyers, like me, will ever get an external recorder in order to use the 10bit video options unless that is why the buy the camera in the first place. As such that is another reason to question why Nikon foisted XQD on Z buyers. The EVF in the Z line may be about the best Ive seen but being an EVF still can blow out highlights. There can be a little lag, I find it a minor annoyance. Handling is very good but in use there are glitches due to the EVF that an optical dSLR lacks. As one would expect battery life is not as long as with an optical dSLR but still very good.I have had no problems with autofocus although admittedly I rarely track cars speeding toward me and would not expect perfection in that setting. I have always found zebras the best thing about EVFS and they help if you can not see highlight detail in the EVF. I have had no issues with the EVF while wearing glasses, even polarized sunglasses seem ok. I can live with the Z6 EVF I have disliked every other one I have owned or used.I only shoot raw and have had no banding issues in the way I process. In fact this is the first camera in which I have not hated autoISO, for my uses so far the sensor has seemed essentially ISO invariant. I like that Nikon coded image correction into the lens firmware ala m43.I suspect Nikon will stop development of optical dSLRs for many reasons, including financial and market conditions. Even after just a couple of weeks using the Z6 I would not want to go back to my optical full frame Nikon dSLRwhat higher praise is there

Im very impressed with this camera so far. Im not a pro at video I focus primarily on portraiture photography and use my D850 almost exclusively for that but Ive found this camera to be excellent. I bought this primarily for video and it has not disappointed. There are a few little quirks that Im working through but the 4k footage Ive shot thus far has been excellent. Excellent controls. Doesnt disappoint. Steep learning curve if new to Nikon systems. Kit lens is heavier than camera body. For both for stills and 4k video good compromise. Good value compared to other FF Mirrorless ILC cameras. After extensive reviewing key rejected alternatives were 1. Fuji XT4 cheaper, better video, appears better stabilisation, but APSC sensor and 2. Panasonic S1 FF, better video credentials, but at least AU1000 more. 3. Sony A7 FF series market leader but best versions iiiS, ivR too pricy, older versions lacked latest features, poor reviews on usability.

I upgraded from a Nikon D90. I was looking for a full frame camera in my price range that I can use for sports photography and general photos. I use a lot for indoor ice hockey and outdoor lacrosse. I have stuck with Nikon as they were always better for use in low lighting hockey arenas that are challenging to take pictures in. My pictures are much brighter once I learned the manual settings mode and learned the new functions that differed from the D90. The battery does not last longer than 1 game and recommend a backup battery. I take in raw and fine jpeg so can share photos immediately. It is nice to have blue tooth capabilities to post online shots immediately on social media. I use with my older 70300 mm f5.6 lens with the adapter and have had no problems. I would love to upgrade that lens in the future but will save for that next. I bought the Sony QXD card reader to quickly transfer photos from the camera to computer for editing which is much quicker than plugging camera into the computer.

Im less than 30 days in with this camera, but really like it so far. It fits my larger than usual hands quite well and is SO full of features customizations that its going to take a while to feel like Im controlling it instead of the other way around. I have a 17200 Nikon that works well with the FT adapter but when set to Pinpoint focus and zoomed out to max, it seems to really struggle to focus. If I back off just slightly, its fine. Im anxiously waiting on the Eye AF firmware update that should come in May and I hope it will put the Z6 at or above the performance of Sonys Eye af. I have not shot any video yet so can only speak to the still images, but so far they are quite good Well done NIKON….

Great camera and great value Fast focusing, and it only keeps getting better Helps me capture my intended imagery more than 50 of the time, compared to my D7100 which is more like 25 of the time. On occasion, that has been as high as 90 success rate, even. I believe that is part me, part camera. As I get to know it better, I have learned new things on how to be more accurate, and efficient. Coupled with a Z S lens, like the kit lens 2470mm f4, a great lens in itself it produces GREAT images The low light capability of the Z6 is unsurpassed, only by the new Z6 II, now. Albeit, NOT by much So this is still a better deal for low light, or fast action, if you ask me. Pairs nicely via the FTZ adapter with old Nikon lenses like the iconic, Nikkor 105mm f2.5 lens that is famous for the Afghan girl image on NatGeo cover years ago. Nice, dreamy bokeh, and focus The Focus Peaking makes using such old lenses fun again, and is great for portraiture, and still life Great lowlight capability, and great focus system for fast action, like when paired with the Sigma 150600mm make this a great buy for the money Highly recommend

I already own 2x full frame dslrs and 2x apsc dslrs with about 17 Nikkor lenses so to add the Z6 to my collection was a very natural progression. The menu and button placements are a natural if you have owned a Nikon before, I have always liked the Nikon feel and handling and the image quality is superb, I bought this Z6 for photos as I do not do video, so thats a bit of a waste but its the same as my other Nikons that do video. Have liked the new weight reduction when carrying my gear around these days and the FTZ adapter works a treat especially with some of my older Nikkor glass because of the inbuilt image stabilization. An all round winner for me and with Nikons latest firm ware update to AF ….. just brilliant.

To be transparent, I am more of a gear head than photographer. Because of this I have owned and shot most high end and semi pro bodies from most manufacturers starting with the D3 and 1D IV forward. Having said that there are already several reviews and partial reviews of the Z6 online. Having shot the camera and read the reviews I would surmise my view by suggesting that the camera indeed hits the high marks and you can throw out the majority of the negatives being said. Most of those negatives are IMO due to user error or just writing without using as many early reviewers do.I wish it had two card slots.Besides that, if the file size best meets your needs the cameraFeels like quality in your hand and responds exceptionally well to your input.Low lighthigh ISO performance is as good as it currently gets.Focus is quick and accurate and it CAN track well once you understand settings not all cameras nor all Nikons are the same setting for setting.Image quality is everything a sensor this size should be.This is a user friendly body and the 2470 is amazing for the price

I have been Nikon user for 20 years Didnt jumped right in when Z6 and Z7 released since I am pretty happy with D700 D750 combo and Nikon prime lens It was actually the 2470 f2.8 Z lens that got my interest into Nikons Z system. After some research it is apparent that Nikon Z system has significant advantages over their DSLR, with exception of the autofocus There are many things that I like Z6 First of all, excellent picture out of camera I am very surprised about the color and picture quality, didnt expect there would be much difference from previous generation 24Megapixel sensor D750 The color is vivid, punchy, a bit warm that makes skin tone look very nice Big difference compared to D700 or D750 is monochrome, which is surprisingly saturated and easy to the eyes, hard to explain but MC just look brilliant out of Z6. As result, I shoot a lot more MC with Z6 than with D700 or D750 2 almost silent autofocus with new Z lens, and supper quiet shutter 3 I only have one native lens 2470 f2.8 Z and this lens is much smaller than F mount counterpart and super sharp and transparent, the sharpness, saturation, smoothness and color rendering match and exceed F mount 1.4 or 1.8 primes, without any CA, which is astonishing 4 Z6 uses sensor to autofocus and once it nails the focus, it is tack sharp 5 Very useful incamera stabilization system, which helps low light handheld photo and video. 6 EVF, once I get used to EVF, it is hard to get back to OVF 7 full frame autofocus coverage This is big difference compared to Full Frame DSLR Z6s autofocus points cover nearly all visible frame and allows focusing near the edge of the frame, instead of clustered in the center in DSLRs OVF It is the old habit from DSLR, I used to use single dynamic point on Z6 to manually select focus point, but once I discovered the face eye detection tracking, plus the latest animal eye detection, I hardly go back to single dynamic point anymore. Since I bought Z6 Nikon has released a series of firmware upgrades to enhance autofocus performance. The latest firmware3.0 has made most noticeable improvement to cameras face eyedetection responsiveness and hit rate Now I am very comfortably relying upon face eye detection and convenient tracking to take portraits and cat pictures. I recently compared to D700 and realized that I have less hit rate more blurry pictures with D700 than with newly upgraded Z6 under similar light conditions. Besides, new face eye detection enable me to capture moments that I wouldnt be able to capture in the past, since moving the focus point manually on DSLR is not as fast as Z6s face eye detection tracking Again, very surprised of the success rate came out from Z6. We recently adopted a beautiful young cat and I am very pleased to report the latest animal eye tracking works really well with Cats big eyes, even when cats face is facing to the side I always felt autofocus is the main weak point on Z6. Now the autofocus problem is resolved with new firmware, Z6 has become one capable camera For me single XQD is fine since photography is hobby not my job The card is pricy but the read and write speed is way faster than older formats Lastly, the buttons, touch screen, familiar ergonomics, robust build quality are all welcome features, make transition from Nikon DSLR very intuitive and easy In addition, I recently purchased MBN10 battery grip and it fits Z6 very nicely Z6 has compact size and its grip is bit short for my hand With MBN10 my pinky finger lands on the extend grip which feels more stable and natural, plus the grip body will rest in my left hand palm thus provides firmer support with front heavy 2470 2.8 Z lens I dont mind missing vertical buttons but do appreciate additional battery since Z6 is literally a powerhungry super computer and eats batter a lot quicker than DSLRs, especially shooting video. Overall, the more I use Z6 the more it become the goto camera in my bag. I hope Nikon keep releasing new firmware upgrades and adding more wonderful Z lens to the family.

Received my new Nikon Z6 today and I immediately knew I would be returning it. This is not the small, lightweight mirrorless camera that I was looking for. It is actually heavier and larger than my Nikon D5300 and about the weight of the D7000. Also, I missed the fact that it requires the very expensive, larger XQD memory card which would not fit into the slot of my Mac for transferring photos. I read numerous reviews about the Z6 before deciding to order it, and never saw these issues discussed. The whole point of going to a new Nikon was to have a lighter weight to carry around, perhaps to have on hand always. Not so. There are no camera stores near me where I could have tried the weight of the Z6 or I never would have ordered it. Disappointing, but if you are young and dont mind the weight and have the money for 150 memory cards, this is probably a great camera because you cant beat Nikon color.

I am a Nikon shooter. I was pushed to transition to mirrorless cameras last year from my D5s. The weight of these cameras are amazing, compared to the D5D4s. I havent had any real issues with them as of yet.

First mirrorless and Im completely sold its like night and day compared to my D750. Super sharp even with the kit lens. In fact the kit lens is sharper than my Sigma Art primes on my D750 Ok so it only has one card slot which is a downer but apart from that its superb…..

The Nikon Z6 is one of the most amazing cameras I have ever used. I have owned a D800, D7500, and a D5600. The High ISO capabilities with the image quality on this camera are insane. See the Milky Way image I captured down at a national park in the middle of the night.I especially love the smart features of the camera. Unlike the D5000 and D7000 series cameras, I havent had any issues pairing to SnapBridge with the Z6.Nikon has hit it out of the park with the autofocus in videos. The eye and face tracking is spot on. I have noticed that it takes a little longer to shoot photos from start to photo as compared to my D800, but the image quality is so much better on this camera.I would recommend the Z6 to anyone looking to use it for low light images as well as fast action. I have included a photo of a nephew racing up the stairs and I caught a crystal clear image while he was moving. I love having the capability to use my traditional FX lenses on this camera with the FTZ adaptor. BH Photo has great deals bundled with this camera. Kudos to them for the fast shipping and the awesome price

Really loved this camera body and lenses. Small, light, well built, great video. Honestly, the Z series Nikons are an impressive first mirrorless system. Especially once eye AF, CFExpress compatibility and ProRes RAW are enabled in firmware.Really its a solid purchase. However, the body feels semipro not enough buttons for customization, one card slot, XQDs cost a lot, my pinkie has nowhere to go on the body and the unreleased battery grip has no shutter button or control dials. Um, whatThe lenses are damn sharp, corner to corner even wide open which is awesome, and lightweight. And QUIET for video Its a great first attempt at a mirrorless system, but its only a little cooler than the Sony A7III. The Nikon feels more like it was designed for humans than the Sony bodies though. And Nikon menus are WAY better than Sonys. If you have recent Nikon glass, go for the Z 6. If not, you cant go wrong with either Sony A7 or Z 6.MAYBE the Z x will be more prooriented

This is the best still camera I have ever used. This is also the best video camera I have ever used. In fact, I sold a top end Sony camcorder that I spent about twice what I spent to get a 2nd Z6. I even like the kit lens that comes with this camera. That is something I cannot say about the kit lens that comes with just about every Canon camera, and Ive had more than 3 or 4 of those over the last 20 years. f4 the bokeh is very usableIt isnt the right camera for every situation, but its pretty good for most situations. If youre weight a Z6 against another camera, just get the Z6 and start using it, you wont be disapointed.

I received my Z6 on 127. The first shot I took, on auto, freaked me out. It was so crisp, colorful, and sharp that I thought something was wrong with the camera. And the Auto ISO was at about 51,200 I had never in my life used that high of an ISO for a shot. And the shot was clear. Wow Yes, there were artifacts but the shot was viewable. 51,200 Another was at 15,200 Definitely viewable. Wow. That was new photographic territory for me from my older D610. And the Z6 dumped me into that territory. My photography will never be the same again, in a good, artistic way. My usual camera test is simply to shoot a snapshot in auto mode with decent lighting to determine how sharp, contrasty, color accuracy, edge to edge crispness, and clarity it produced in auto. I was amazed, flipped out, and did a happy dance, especially with the high ISO mater. I traded in my D610 for the Z6 and the difference is amazing, and the 610 is a good camera. I know that if a camera can take a decent snapshot on auto, then PASM, low and bright light, landscape, portrait, etc., would be just as outstanding without super technical feats of skill. I love this camera. FYI It is a machine mechanical photography device folks. No machine is perfect. If you are looking for a perfect machine, I recommend the human body in good health of course. Any man made machine will involve thought and labor to operate and maintain and there will always be tradeoffs. But, if the camera is a camera and passes the snapshot test, then I know that all will be well. Cameras are like beautiful women There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness to the proportion. Anon. P.S. I did not purchase the camera for snapshots but for movies and excellent stills of street photography, landscapes, cityscapes, travel, events, etc. Nikon outdid themselves with this one, especially right out of the gate. It is versatile and easy to handle. I can walk the street with the camera tucked under my arm, set interval shooting and other appropriate settings, and take great pictures on the streets without touching the camera shutter or looking at the viewfinder or screen. FYI, taking street photographs in some countries can land you in jail lit. hell. So, the ability to just sling the camera under my arm, set timed interval shooting adequately and just walk and sing and take pictures with dependable results is easy. Try this with any other camera and you will regret it, as I did in San Francisco one year with a D7000. I had so many blurry and out of focus shots that I had to go back and do it over again several years later of course. Not so with the Z6. The focus is fast enough with interval shooting and focus and aperture settings appropriately set, that you can hold the camera in your hand or with the camera by your side and take excellent photos in street scenes without having to point and shoot which is fascinating . And, the Z6 is also capable of the highest technical quality in cameradom, that includes video. It is one of few infinitely capable mirrorless cameras on the market today. It to me is at the top of the heap. Thanks Nikon.

The Z6 is a great camera, and with the FTZ Mount adapter, I am able to use most FX lenses. I was able to buy used FX 70300mm zoom and 50mm prime lenses, which drastically expanded my range in a way I could afford The video light was a disappointment, only because there was NO BATTERY included in the bundle so I had to shell out more money for something that should have been in the kit. I think this was a simple oversight on Adoramas part, but it grated thus 4 stars instead of 5.

Having owned another Z6 for our personal business I knew we had to find another one for a great price. This kit came with everything you need to use previous Nikon glass and the Z still continues to outperform everything weve owned in shots per second, the interval timer that you can set up to start at any time of day, the brightness and depth of the rear LCD still continues to astound me, and the new firmware face autodetection is a huge step for Nikon. Its simple to clean and keep serviced and holds up to harsh conditions

Havent gotten a chance to use the camera much yet only took 3 photos around the house, but everything came in a timely manner. The refurbished product came in a white box instead of the nikon box for new products. Nevertheless, there were no missing parts and everything appears to be functioning properly. Great deal, the same item being sold on Nikon refurbished store was more expensive than what was on Adorama.

Great raw images but the AF is complicated many custom setups to ensure high hit ratio. Native lenses still less attractive vs Sony. Replaced z6 with 24200 with a Sony a7r3 and Tamron 28200. Happy. If I had many old Nikon lenses, the z6 II would make sense.

I bought my camera in July,so i wanted to use the camera a lot before i made my comments.First i can only say very positive comments about adorama.i traded my sony HXRNX 100 camcorder in and purchased the Nikon z6.I was leaving on a trip to Europe and wanted the camera before i left this was Monday needed by wed and it was here on time. i have been a Nikon owner since 2008 when i first bought the d90.I have always been into video way back to the super 8 film days. However true photography was new to me.After the d90great camera had a d7000ok camera and then the 610great camera. I have done video for weddings and some educational video for work. What i wanted was one camera i could use for vacation to take video and pictures..since i have Nikon lens i was waiting for a light camera with image stabilization like the sonys and some other brands. So when the z6 was introduced i was excited .When i read the reviews on the z6 verse the sony a7iii. the reviews said the video was superior with z6, thats what i wanted.i also own a sony alpha 6500 which i used primarily for video because the picture are not good with that camera but the video is great.so i go to London and pairs use my z6the video quality looks beautiful .however as other have stated the auto focus is slow on video which i expected but it also slow with pictures as well.the low light video was good, filmed some wedding video and they looked good.THE BIG PROBLEM the deal breaker that i just cant deal with is the image stabilization is non existent also the lens 2570 f4 does not have stabilization so you are dependent on the cameras. When you travel its run and gun video most of my video was unusable because it was so shaky. i went back to my old Nikon lens 2570 3.56 kit lens from my 610 and was a little better.i am kind of stuck with the camera for now. I bought a gimbal which helps, but i am so disappointed.I am done with Nikon as soon as i can financial handle it. I will get rid of all my Nikon lens and cameras and switch over completely to Sony. seriously do not purchase this camera get something else but get it through adorama they where great.

This is my second camera. Started with a Nikon D3400, and picking this up was really easy to navigate with familiarity of the Nikon user face. The EVF is a great feature to use in Manual mode considering you can really evaluate the picture process in real time. I was skeptic considering thus was a refurbished model wondering the shutter count. When received I found out it was in the low 300s, not bad. No issues so far and really liking the Z6

Currently use a D3X for landscape, long exposure, and portraits and a D700 for sports and theater.I have not had an opportunity to try the Z6 at any sporting events so I cannot comment on fast focusing or tracking fast moving subjects.I have taken the Z6 camera out to shoot waterfalls and it performs wonderful. One of the main reasons for having an interest in this camera is because of all the focus points covers almost entire sensor. This makes framing a scene very easy, especially if your focus point is not in center of frame. The other feature that I was interested in was the Silent shutter really works in this camera. The Silent shutter combined with the vibration reduction makes shooting slower shutter speeds handheld very easy.I did not purchase any of the new ZSeries lens. I chose to purchase the FTZ adapter. All of my FMount lens work with no drop in performance.Controls through touchpad are very handy and easy to navigate.Even though the camera is much smaller than my D3X or D700 wgrip, the Z6 is very easy to hold.Purchased a LBracket from Kirk mounts to FTZ Adapter and works as advertised.

I love this camera. I upgraded from a Nikon D5500 and my girlfriend uses a D750 so it feels very natural to figure out. You should immediately buy a FTZ mount adaptor to use the rest of your Nikon lenses. Also, beware that this camera does not support SD cards and you need to buy an XQD card which is very expensive but probably a good investment for the future.

Im a wedding and family photographer who recently traded one of my Nikon D750 cameras to put a foot in the waters of mirrorless cameras. After two months and about 12,000 exposures, here are my thoughtsProsRealtime exposure preview and focuspeaking in the viewfinder are a delightThe viewfinder and LCD screens are each very clear and colorful, and give me a good feel for if my images nailed focus or notBattery life is better than Id expected for a mirrorless camera. I get about 7501000 shots per batterycompared to about 1800 on my D750Each of my 6 Fmount lenses work as well as ever with the FTZ adapterNo mirror means no percamera autofocus calibration for my prime lenses. I nail focus with my primes more often than beforeHaving inbody vibration reduction means I can shoot at slower shutter speeds without a tripodThe XQD card transfers files so much more quickly to my computermeaning I spend less time waiting to move files on to my computer. What took 40 minutes before takes about 4 minutes nowThe new auto white balance options are much more to my liking than what my cameras produced beforeShooting in silent mode means no noise whatsoever, which is a godsend when shooting during wedding ceremoniesEye Tracking Autofocus is quite accurate in my teststhough I hadnt tried it yet in client work.ConsBecause Im using all my old Fmount lenses with an adapter, theres no real decrease in weight over my D750Battery life is less than I get from my D750Autofocus is not as reliable in dark situations wedding receptions, onstage events as my D750, though a recent firmware upgrade has brought some real improvementsThis camera is missing dualcard slots that I use on the D750 for redundancybacking up each image to each of two cardsPoint metering especially the spotlight point metering doesnt seem as sensitive as it had been previouslyI miss the 3D tracking mode my D750 had beforeIt would be handy if the LCD screen could tilt more for shots perpendicular to the groundConclusionIm quite pleased with what Ive gotten out of my Z6. When it comes time to replace my other D750, I expect to purchase another Zseries and invest in the mirrorless Sline of lenses in the future. The benefits of this camera especially the EVF, inbody VR, and silent mode make me a believer in its power and potentialas well as in mirrorless cameras in general. These steps forward make it feel like a wonderful time to be a photographer

I was hesitant about this camera being very happy with the D750 that I have used for the last two years and having misgivings about the EVF and lack of flash. Within a week I am converted and am selling my 750 Most of the menus and options are straight forward if you have owned a Nikon DSLR although I found it difficult to understand the different focussing options since these are not explained very well in the manual. So far I have shot exclusively with an AFS Nikkor 24 70 f2.8 lens. The picture quality, the low light performance and the ease of use are truly excellent. The EVF is great, Speed of processing is also a significant improvement over the D750. Battery life seems better than I was led to expect from the specifications but I dont use the screen all of the time. In summary I love this Z6.

By no means, the Z6 is a perfect camera, but no camera is. Overall, Im very impressed by the Z6. I know there are a lot of criticisms and complaints on the camera. I blame Nikons poor marketing that drove a prelaunch hype and the disappointments in consequence.Sure, the single card slot is a bummer but its easier to accept for a 2k camera. The AF clearly is not the best in class i.e., D850 and may not be ideal for fast moving sports shooting, but its as good or better than the D750 or many other FFDSLRFFM. High speed AF and buffer may not be class leading but its not bad.On the other hand, the image quality and dynamic range from the BSI sensor is amazing, better than the D750, which says a lot. The colors and skin tones straight out of the camera are really good. All of the controls, buttons, UI, menus and operations are solid without any stupid nonsense stuff. Low light focus is good as long as the low light focus option on dont know why the default setting is off. With peaking and easy magnification, manual focusing is as easy as it can be. The user customization options are nice with separate setting by stills vs video and three separate user settings per each. The EVF and live view are a pure joy to use, far better than anything out there. Usability, ergonomics, and build quality are second to none. It has best in class weather sealing. The battery is much better than rated. Wireless connection is night and day better than before, maybe even better than Canons. Even the video features are better than any Nikons that existed before. The Z amount is the largest and the flange distant is the shortest. The three new S line lenses are sharp and solidly built. To top it all off, the camera even comes with a battery charger pun intended. For me, the Z6 presents the best overall value in the 2k range as of Nov 2018. I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid prosumer andor backup FFM camera.

Decided to take advantage of the Nikon upgrade offer. Although the offer was somewhat misleading you wont get full credit for older Nikon cameras, I decided to go ahead because of the features of the Z6 mp, light, fullframe, video, etc.. I am not disappointed at all. Ive spent only a week playing with options and learning about the power. Manual is NOT user friendly, but I have a new book that is excellent in stepping the user through the camera and all its features. For travel, I cant imagine a better camera in the Nikon line.As a side note, Adorama was good to work with. However, they shipped a Tamron lens new that was NOT current, and thus did not work with the adapter. I had to send it in to Tamron to have the firmware updated, and it now works fine. I specifically asked Adorama if the lens was current and assured it was, but it wasnt.

WowIf you can afford Z7, go for it. If not, this will do. Or get both if you canSome people complain about one XQD card slot. They are living in the 1980 when we used magnetic hard disk drives. If you use SSDs or similar devices, one drive is just enough. Ive been using XQD cards for a long time with my D500 and D850, and they have never failed. They are fast, reliable, and robust. Expensive You get what you paid, and they will pay back in the long run. This camera and Z7 generate fantastic photos. Forget about other cameras. Sony, Fuji, etc., they are good in a sense, but you dont compare those with Nikon Z7 or Z6. Nikon Z7 and Z6 are beyond comparison.I use Z7 mostly for professional photos and Z6 for videos. I bought the Z 6 primarily for its low light and video performance, after some agonizing about the Z 7. I am far from disappointed. I took a series of photos in Seattle with natural illumination only, using aperture priority and a minimum shutter speed of 130th with the 2470mm f4 S. ISOs used ranged from 800 to 14400 I normally try to keep the ISO at or below 100. For all of them the focus was perfect at f4 and there was no perceptible image motion blur even though I am not known for steady hands. On top of all this I was able to cram the Z 6 in a small carryon bag that would fit under the airplanes seat. The Z 6s light weight and weatherproof, sturdy build make it my new goto camera. By comparison my D810 seems as bulky and heavy as the Speed Graphic I used to haul around in the 1950s.I havent used the Z 6 much with my other Nikon glass and the FTZ adapter but thats coming up shortly. Ditto for video a short selfie was easy to do.

The Z6 is best in class to hold because of the very considered ergonomics. Long sessions of shooting are much easier with this camera than many alternatives. The electronic EVF and rear screen are bright and very accurate. The menus are well laid out and easy to operate. The stabilization for stills and video is excellent. The one niggle is this is not the best camera for fast moving sports, because of reletively new AF, but for portraits, landscapes, and general shooting from photos to videos, this camera is utterly astonishing.

Ive been debating getting a backup camera for an aging D750 vs. waiting for a new pro level mirrorless camera. When I saw how affordable the refurbished Z6 was, it seemed a nobrainer to try it. It is even better than I expected.Using the EVF is so much better than an optical viewfinder. It makes it hard to go back to using my DSLR in all but bright light. The controls are more intuitive and accessible than on the D750. The focusing is incredible, especially the eyeAF. And the images are fantastically sharp. Ive had no problem using my old lenses with the FTZ adapter. The Z6 is so good, Ive stopped looking at rumor sites about the next big thing. If anything, Ill buy another refurbished Z6.

I like the Z6, it has great image quality and decent auto focus. Great camera. While I have the Nikon D810, I find myself using the Z6 for all my shooting except for landscape photography that will be enlarged quite a bit. I stay with the larger D810 sensor size for that. The Z6 at 24mp is the perfect size for all of my other work, portrait, street and macro work that I do and the camera is so much lighter and with the FTZ adapter, allows me to use all of Nikon lens with internal focus motors. I do use it for landscape shots when very large prints are not planned and have included one. It has the added benefit of having image stabilization in the body, providing an update to several of the lenses without IS.

I have been using this Nikon Z6 for about a month. My transition, from mirrored to mirrorless SLR, has been easy. I have been a Nikon user my entire life. The buttons on the camera are intuitive, but also the ability to move through menus, get what I want, is easy as well. I have no complaints. I mostly use it to photograph art work on a flat surface. I was worried the automatic white balanced might not be perfect, but it has reacted admirably to the artificially lit art I photograph. This camera allows me to see my images two ways, on the LED exterior screen and by looking through the traditional SLR viewing port. In both cases I can line up my image, determine the area that is focused upon, and choose to open or close the lens for more or less light all the information appears below the image as summation of the images choice of shot details, from fstop to length of shot, to choice of formal point. The final images are just what I need.

I bought the Z6 with 2470 f4 lens and FTZ adapter in April this year from Wex. After a few months have I firmed up my thoughts. There is a lot to like Largely familiar Nikon menu and controls Mirrorless gives the ability to preview shots accurately The EVF and screen are great I dont miss a proper viewfinder Really good autofocus for static subjects, aided by dedicated back button firmware update v2.0 introduced eye detection AF Great low light high ISO performance Body nicely sculpted for the larger hand The one plane the screen does tilt in is the most useful one for work on a tripodIts an incredible camera but….. I dont reach for it in the same way I reached for some previous models I have owned most recently Nikon Df. So on holiday recently on a couple of days I just left the camera in the room safe rather than lug it around. While the body of the Z6 is by objective measures smaller and less weight than the Df, in hand the Z6 feels…bulkier. I think this is down to the Z lenses which make the camera feel a little front heavy, and look a bit bland and plasticky though reviews say these are very well built with fantastic optical performance. When I was out with the Df and previously Olympus OMDs, I didnt feel people objected to the intrusion of a camera but with the Z6….Im just another camera user with a dull black box. The XQD card requires an investment not only for the cards but a card reader youll need one for any firmware updates, although you can directly transfer pictures from the camera. I shoot in RAW and JPEG and previously used a dongle to transfer JPEG to my iPad cant with XQD unless you have iPad Pro using Snapbridge in comparison is a faff.. FTZ adapter works fine but F lenses look awkward mounted on it.In summary, my head says its a great camera my heart is left a bit cold.

Ive just bought one, I still dont have it on my hands, but, for example fuji xt3 records to 10bits, if you want this quality in Nikon z6 you need to buy a and set the external ninja v… And, I live in Mexico and Im looking for a XQD card, here, the price of those cards is ridiculous 700 usd Thats more than a half of the price of the camera Im seriously thinking about cancel my purchase… I dont know if investing so much in a card is worth enough…

So far this camera had been everything I needed and more. I have been a handful of other cameras, and this one beats them all in image quality, colors, etc. I dont have a Sony or Canon to compare autofocus to, but i can tell you that it has worked for me do far. Im very happy to have bought this camera.

This camera is really incredible. I balked at the notion of a smaller sensor than my D850 but wanted a lighter weight camera and this one is very light weight. The lighted viewfinder which adjusts to the exposure is so helpful that when I go back to the D850 I really miss it. Also the high speed frame rate for bursts is so helpful for bird activity. Using this with the 300 and 500 mm PF lenses makes my equipment light weight enough that I no longer get lateral epicondylitis tennis elbow. With the 1.4x teleconverter my 500 is now 700 mm, a focal length I would otherwise never be able to afford. I can pack two of these cameras with ease and the converters allow me to use all of my prior Nikon lenses. The low light capabilities are amazing and I rarely use a flash.

Best Christmas present ever.First day using it, test few minutes on an action figure and bring it to job the next day with absolutely no problem i use D750 and D800, and kept saying to my client i love this camera too many times.Been waiting for a mirrorless from Nikon and its finally here with all the expectation I had.All I can say is that its perfect for what i do see link below, I just cant be happier. Planning to get another one soon.Instagram.comyansensetiawan

Coming from a Nikon D5000 the Nikon Z6 is just an excellent camera. So easy and intuitive to work with and I enjoy every second with it. Well built quality, it feels very sturdy, is lightweight and extremely compact for a full frame camera. The 2470mm is awesome, gives me very sharp pictures and nice performance even in low light situations. You cannot go wrong with this camera and package. For me its worth every penny.

This camera is easy to use and takes incredible pics. I attached my old Nikon lens and FTZ adaptersold separately to this camera and got very good results. Autofocus works well and relatively fast even with the attached FTZ adapter. Videos turn out wonderful with great audio. I highly recommend.

I bought this to replace my Nikon D750 which is a great camera as a back up to my Nikon D850. So far, this camera has been awesome. It is lightweight but a heavy hitter. There is a small learning curve coming from full frame DSLR, but I have had mirrorless cameras in the past. The feel of the Z 6 is great. It is small but holding it is very comfortable. In comparing with the Sony mirrorless systems, the ergonomics of the Z series is way better, IMO. And, the lens…. I wasnt sure about the 2470mm f4. I usually like faster lenses. But, this lens is great. I would still like a bit faster and might upgrade at some point to the 2.8 version but I am in no rush. This lens is great.

Z6 is fantastic and in low light too. I am really satisfied with the Z6 2470 mm kit lens. I am yet to try out FTZ with some older used lenses. FTZ seems fully compatible with newer lenses like AFS and AFP. Z6 doesnt support autofocus with older AF lenses. I believe its going to be fun with some Fmount lenses too.

I have had multiple Nikon bodies over the years, and each iteration continues to get better and better. I had been satisfied with the low light performance of my D4s and D600, but have been eyeing mirrorless cameras for the sake of portability and silent performance. After a week or so with the Z6, Ive been exceedingly impressed with the low light performance on it. It can find focus easily in candlelight, and the digital viewfinder and thus immediatelive feedback of exposure of your image is pleasing. Im comfortable shooting at higher ISOs than ever before, but I havent had a lot of need to be at the top range just yet.Things that I hadnt thought of, or had thought of, but hadnt been able to identify what it would be like I think it will take a bit of getting used to the digital viewfinder it just feels different, but Im optimistic about its utility. I hadnt considered that the camera operation is slightly slower between an off state and ready to shoot.
