I am an amateur photographer- just starting and this camera is just wonderful. Nikon are renowned for making high quality cameras and this Z6III has everything i need and more. The camera arrived well packaged meaning it was well protected which is the first obvious thing i would expect on such an item so that is good. This is a mirrorless camera – and to be honest i hadn’t heard of such a thing but the quality on this is excellent. The sensor on this is a partially stacked 24.5 MP full-frame and the video recording is 6k RAW. Now i have only used up to 4K recording previously and you can notice the difference during playback. With 120 fps (10 MP DX-format JPEGs), or 60 fps (24 MP full-frame JPEGs), i have been trying different shots watching some football matches. The quality is fantastic with the crisp, full shots without blurring. What i really do like though is playing about with the low light settings on this allowing me to trial pictures of both objects still and moving and the results have been wonderful. There are lots of clever features on this camera and the quality of both sound and vision is impeccable such as subject recognition and I have been using it on both people and my dog. It has great connectivity (Bluetooth etc), nice software and it really is quite easy to use. Overall this is a fantastic camera and i am continueing to trial its features that i am really happy with so far. Highly recommended One person found this helpful

Wow. This is a truly humbling device. I used to do a lot of photography, with film and then later digital; just as a hobby, nothing professional but I have been out of the game for a while and just using my phone to take snaps. I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to try this camera out, it’s reinvigorated my excitement for the art and got me back out of the house eyeing up just about anything that might make an interesting composition. I have not explored a fraction of the features this camera offers and at time of writing I was only able to use an old, but very good, fully manual Carl Zeiss 50mm lens and as such, a lot of the AF lens features were not available to me. I have still managed to capture pictures of a quality that I have never had the chance to capture in the past and it wasn’t difficult. I have posted some of these rather than more pictures of the camera itself. The camera comes with a simple quick start guide because the actual manual is a hefty document but luckily it is easily accessible for free online. I explored some of the features this camera offers. First, with a manual lens the camera needs to be used on a setting other than fully automatic. This is fine by me because it is so easy to get lazy in full auto mode and I really enjoyed playing with the focus and aperture on the lens and adjusting the shutter speed and ISO on the camera. ISO can be set to automatic which is handy if you are moving between different lighting conditions, shutter speed is set with the back thumb wheel and the ISO will change accordingly. Obviously, aperture also affects this. I am still blown away by the display screen and the way that the camera gives you an accurate preview of what the picture will look like, including any graininess due to higher ISO settings. On that note it is important to say that the ISO on this isn’t comparable to film; you can easily have this on ISO 10000 and get incredible shots with no perceptible graininess. The screen is a high-definition touch screen, about 8cm across the diameter and fully articulated. I used this whilst organising a large family shot, I had the screen tilted up to the side where I stood, it was very convenient not to have been bent over looking through the viewfinder. The camera switches between viewfinder and display mode automatically by sensing light entering the viewfinder. Working with a fully manual lens is fairly straight forward although many features are not available. As yet I have not been able to get the focus indicator box to go green when in focus however there is a really useful feature called focus peaking that highlights any edges or points that are in focus in a colour of your choice. I use red. It does this in 3D so the depth of focus increases as you close the aperture. To check focus in detail, you can zoom in digitally on the subject. I have this set up on one of the front custom function buttons so when I press it, the view zooms in on wherever the focus indicator box is. You can take the shot whilst zoomed in, so as long as you have framed up before zooming, you just check focus and take the shot. It has led to some pretty crispy pictures. Among other features that I am looking forward to playing with are “Pixel Shift” shooting. This will take a series of pictures, whilst moving the sensor by minute increments in order to give better colour reproduction after combing the frames. It also does time lapse and customisable interval shooting. I had a play with the video. I shot some regular video at 25fps and the quality is amazing. I also wanted to play with the slow-motion feature which produces video at 20% original speed. The video I posted is of a cup of rain water in my garden, into which I dropped a small nut. The camera captured this at about 24fps and then slows it down for 20% speed playback, I then slowed this down by another 25% so I think the video is now roughly 1/20 of the original speed. I am extremely impressed with the detail of this. I can freeze frame the video and the nut is caught in mid-air with no motion blur. The camera can actually shoot at 120fps so I imagine I can get even better clarity; I am looking forward to trying this. When I eventually save enough to buy a full frame autofocus Z lens I will be using the focus shift function. This takes a series of shots whilst moving the focus in small increments according to preset custom settings so that the pictures can later be stacked together in post to get increased depth of field. It is especially useful for macro shots. I am really excited about this feature in particular. I have been using Nikon’s “Snap bridge” app to connect my phone to the camera. Its works well and allows me to download pictures and video to my phone. It also enables remote release using your phone which I used recently on a group shot that I needed to be in. It was more convenient than timer release because I was able to take several shots without returning to the camera. It also gives you the actual view from the camera, on your phone. Everything I have written about and just about every other feature on the camera has some form of customisation, the number of permutations in terms of camera set up must be staggeringly high. For all of its clever automatic functionality, it absolutely provides users endless creative options and a set up that is quite possibly unique to them. This review is a small fraction of the things I could have written about this camera, there is so much to explore. I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to update my understanding of modern digital photography, I have well and truly got my picture taking mojo back and will definitely be getting out of the house more and reminding myself that the world is a fascinating place if you take the time to look carefully. 4 people found this helpful

The Nikon Z6III is an incredible camera with excellent performance and image quality. While it’s challenging to review the body alone, pairing it with a lens brought its full potential to life. The ergonomics, intuitive controls, and robust build make it a joy to use. Perfect for photography and videography alike—highly recommend for anyone looking to elevate their creative work!
