This lens is solid and means business. It is tack sharp and has fast autofocus once you get used to the camera and lens settings for the intended use. It is heavy but I use it on a monopod. It comes with a strap with which to carry it due to its weight, which could damage the camera mount if carried or picked up carelessly. It has a thumping great lens hood which increases the length but shades and protects the massive piece of glass well. Once I can get my sweaty mitts on the TC20EIII it will be even better.

Just got the lense and was impressed by the weight. Took it to point Reyes to look for Tule elk and was completely impressed with the speed of focus, absolutely sharp focus and solid build. Would like to have a different objective cover than the bag, but overall extremely pleased with the lense.

This lens produces very sharp images, with a fast, accurate focus. I bought this lens for wildlife photography and it didnt disappoint. Pricey but worth the money if you are a serious photographer.

As usual, Nikon delivers excellent quality with this lens. Its a tad heavy, but that is to be expected at this aperturefocal length combo. Focuses quickly and accurately and image quality is excellent. Would definitely recommend

This lens is the benchmark for measuring the quality of other lenses on the market, speed and focus accuracy is amazing and the sharpness and contrast is striking. Certainly it is a little heavy but can be used perfectly for shooting handheld because VRII works perfectly. I had to wait for mine because at the time of purchase was not available but the customer service of B H had me well informed at all times and once I had it in my hands I knew the wait was worth it.

Coupled with a Nikon 2X TC the bird pics I am taking are much sharper than what I was getting from my Sigma 150500. It does get a little heavy when I add all my gear, tripod, camera, lens, backpack, blind, and folding swivel seat. After lugging all that into the woods at 500AM Im ready for a nap at 11 lol. Now to mount that onto my new D600 in a few months and Ill be all set.

This lens is outstanding image quality is second to none Im currently using it with a 1.7 teleconverter autofocus is still extremely fast image quality still spot on . yes it is expensive and a shade heavy but wow you do get one hell of a lens best purchase Ive made
