Performance I expected for the premium price vs. an i78900K. After some tweeking, got even better performances than stock settings, exceeding my expectations. No need to overclock, but pretty stable at 4,7mhz. Comes a little hot at load with air cooler I use a Noctua NHU14S and got a 70 celcius peak, didnt have space for NH15, if you dont need a quiet fan and pump noises arent an issue, consider a big radiator water cooler.

This replaces an I56600k. I have the 9900k ocd to 4.6 the same as I had the 6600k. The 9900k runs just as cool 31c idle as did the 6600k. And does moreI have noticed some apps and boot time are quicker although I have not run anything to push it yet.On a excitingly sad note, my 9900k score in Time Spy benchmark 2k is just as high as my 1070 graphics score…I see a new gpu on the way…

This cpu is a beast. I switched from i7 9700k to this due to lack of hyperthreading. the 9700k will stutter in some games but the 9900k will give you smoother experience. it runs hot so you better have a good cooling to pair with this. NO regrets spending money on this beast.

Just an fyi to people hoping for the display box it does not come with the cpu anymore. My first i99900k did but I dont believe they are doing that anymore. Otherwise best processor Ive ever had Working on my custom loop setup now.
Evan G –
Right out of the box, the CPU ran at 4.7 GHz. I overclocked it to 5GHz without a problem. Runs beautifully. Totally stable. The plastic housing looks cool but took me 5 minutes to figure out how to open it. If the processor could cost 10 less with a simpler box, Id have definitely foregone the box

I bought this i99900k because I needed to upgrade from a i51000k for streaming and it certainly did the trick. Instead of having 40 to 60 percent cpu usage when using streamlabs obs I know avg 10 to 16 cpu usage. And thats me using cpu intensive mocap software alongside it. The only reason I didnt get the i910gen which wouldve been the smarter buy was because I would need a whole new motherboard and Im not ready for that upgrade yet. This cpu is amazing and Im extremely happy with my purchase

Ive been using this product for 2 weeks now and its great. Theres nothing wrong with it. My pc runs very smoothly, its very fast and it doesnt over heat at all. Ive been monitoring the cpu temperature and although that mostly depends on the cpu cooler its still never spikes above a normal temperature while Im gaming. All in all a great product.
west51912 –
Bought this to fully upgrade my computer. This is the best processor my motherboard would support and the price was the same as when I bought my 9700k about 2 years ago. I always find great deals at Microcenter. I would highly recommend this processor if you are upgrading anytime soon.

Just throwing this out here cause I see people saying you need 240 and 360mm rad. You really dont I run 2080ti and this 9900k on pushpull two 120mm rads in custom loop. Does she get warm definitely… Loop heat soaked puts cpu around 78C 4.8ghz under load. This thing is fast already at 3.6ghz. I have mine setup to 4.8ghz all core with boost to 5ghz. 2080ti is stock clocks with ek block.
McGaddster –
First upgrade since a 4690k so this is a significant leap forward. An easy OC to 5ghz if numbers are your thing but even at stock this will do very nicely. Definitely gets toasty so will need decent cooling, ie Im cooling it with AIO 280mm rad. This keeps temps mid 50s gaming, if youre stress testing then of course you will still see 80s90s perhaps depending on the test.I am purely using the PC for games, if youre more weighted to production then the Ryzen chips are maybe more appealing and better value. I would have needed a new cooling solution so the 9900k was a better deal for me plus a free copy of RDR2.Im happy which is what counts.

Since Intels turned to an underdog we eventually can see that those overpriced CPU models are getting down to more reasonable values. 9900K is the best upgrade option if you own Z370Z390 mainboard. Or as an option a flagship level Z170Z270 one, a pair of straight hands and hardware modifications dont make you scared. Then you can go straight to the Coffee mod.Its a nice price offer for gaming stuff. But if you need to run some serious work on it, seeking for a decent cooling solution might turn to a huge headache and money wasting.

All of my other computers use AMD, but this CPU going on sale was too good to pass up. A perfect excuse to build a new PCSo I did, and its a straight upgrade from my old PC. Ive been playing Cyberpunk 2077 and this little guy has been chugging along giving me great performance while running a virtual machine 247 in the background. The only drawback is the lack of a stock cooler, but that just gives me an excuse to buy a fancy RGB fan amiright
Anonymous –
In my humble opinion, this is Intels best CPU to date. Overclocking can really push this thing, but it runs everything I need without it so I dialed it back. Price for what you get is a great value. I upgraded from an i5 9600k to this one and the difference is HUGEAsus z390e ROG Strix32gb ddr4 3600 G. Skill Trident zevga 2080 super

Worth every penny The power on this thing is insane. The specs are true to point in my opinion. Benchmarks and other tests have delivered great results. I use my pc for heavy gaming and video editing with runs really heavy when rendering

This is another great offering from Intel and one of those rare occasions with Intel by which I was able to keep the same motherboard Prime Z370A and upgrade to the nextgen processor. Im using this primarily for audio production and gaming. I have it paired with a 2080 Ti and its a beast. In my audio production software with 50 tracks all with effects inserts and buses also using inserts, the CPU usage shows around 3 usage. This really ramps up during gaming and doesnt choke my GPU on my 3440×1440 monitor. You cant beat the stability of Intel processors.

I had an excellent ASUS motherboard from 2 years ago, but the CPU that came with it originally was a 7th Gen i5, thus not up to snuff for the newest games coming out.Trying to save money, I looked up the best CPU that this otherwiseexcellent Mobo would handle, and its the 9900 i9.While not the absolute top 9900 cpu, the 9900K is definitely the best bang for the buck the preformance ratings on my system are now far far better now Im totally ready for Cyberpunk 2077.

If you want the best, if you want to game at high framerates, if you want to game and stream at the same time, or even if you want to do workloads on the side, this is the processor for you. The thing about this processor, is its the best. That is its goal. If price to performance is your goal, this isnt it. But if the best processor for the tasks Ive listed above is what you want, this is it. My particular chip can overclock to 5.2ghz, and most I am aware of can do 5.1ghz. You need to prioritize cooling with this processor however. I recommend a 280mm AIO minimum, with large tower coolers and others means highly recommended. I am currently using a 360mm AIO and have never hit above 90 degrees in stress tests like aida 64. Throw everything you can at this processor to get max performance i.e. high end cooling, thermal paste or lower your overclocking expectations for smaller mATX or ITX builds.

On sale and available, so it made for a relatively cheap upgrade from an 8700K. 6 cores 12 threads to 8 cores 16 threads. 1080p high refresh gaming in multiplayer Warzone feels smoother and has better frametimes. 6 cores isnt enough for gaming, dont let em tell you it is. If I didnt already have a Z370 motherboard then I wouldnt have bought this Ryzen 5800X or 5900X would have been a better choice or even Intel 10 series.

I upgraded one of my systems with this i9, ASUS Z390A Prime and G Skill Aegis Series 32GB 2 x 16GB DDR4, and its a great combo. I have been building PCs since early 2000s and I have never had a build go so smoothly and work so well together as these two do. The processor is running at 5 Ghz without any overclocking, and the temps barely go above 30 degrees. Im very happy with this processor.
Photo Pilot –
Really slow processor…yeah, if your a photon The only thing this processor cant handle is the truth. It also skipped leg day, so it sucks at the dead lift. Even though it runs really fast, its time in the 40 meter is slower than your Fantasy Football League Running Back. Ask it to move electrons though and it does that so fast, you cant even see them move

I went upgrading from my i7 7700k, and I would say that this is the standard CPU that you need for gaming these days, especially running along with more powerful GPU. It has 8c 16t which keeps multitasking super smooth also heavy cpu usage game feels super smooth. It is overclockable to 5ghz although you will need a strong cooler for that. I have no issues during installation and perform stress test right away and the results blown me away Overall experience with this product Awesome.

Great CPU Replaced my old 6700K. I have my 9900K overlooked 5Ghz all Cores no AVX offsets I am cooling it with a 99 Noctua NH D15 air cooler with no issues at all 70C on BF V during gaming. Also i have 4×8 GB G.Skill Ripjaws V THE CHEAPEST DDR4 3200Mhz OCed to 3600mhz CL16… Yea… Take that AMD Ryzen 3000 fanboys i will dominate you in EVERY single game on planet earth

Picked up this CPU because was almost scammed at another retailer. Got a 9900K IHS but the core was i5 8600 which was No Bueno. Got from NE instead and properly running at 5ghz all cores overclocked without much time or worry ranging from low 30c to full core utilization around 57c. May try to go higher on this CPU and board Asus Strix E Gaming and see what it can put out. Lost my 8yr old system 4930K for some reason I couldnt diagnose and properly speced a new with this CPU and so glad I did. It should last me many more years. Wonderful

Gotta say I upgraded from the i7 4790k, which was a awesome CPU in its own right, and Im extremely impressed with benchmark results and gaming performance. Be advised, do not go cheap on cooling. Im using a h150 and it idles at about 31ish c with room temps at 2527c. Benching it gets into the middle 50s. I will not run prime but Intel diagnostics and extreme tuner is as far a stress testing I will go. Its expensive, yes. My sons 2700x is a fraction of the price and runs games well too, heck my 4790k still performs just fine However, if you have the funds and want the fastest GAMING CPU, this is it.

I am an Intel fanboy uhhh, man. I started computing in the 80s. Intel was always better than the competing companies. AMD was always second tier. I know their Ryzen 3000 chips are getting better but software architecture hasnt matured yet.I put the i9900k in my Gigabyte Auros master. I planned to overclock and used an AIO cooler to dissipate the heat .The stock rate is 3.6mHz. I pushed the voltage to 1.35 and increased my multiplier to 51 on the bios and I had 5.1 on all cores It was stable. I must have won the silicon lottery cause I was able to get 5.2 on all cores but I backed it down to 5.0mhz as the CPU temps were rising above 8590 on the faster click speeds.I coupled the processor with Corsair Dominator Platinum rgb at 3600mhz. It does everything I throw at it….. and fast

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THERMAL PASTE AND AFTERMARKET CPU COOLER if you plan on upgrading to this for GAMINGSTREAMING. If you are just browsing the internet and reading emails then your stock cpu cooler will do fine. You shouldnt get this processor if youre just reading emails and browsing the internet, in my opinion.
Eli A –
As far as the processor goes, it comes packaged as Gordian Knot, its kind of fun and presents a light but Christmas like feel to un package and the way they packaged makes you want to keep it for gamer bragging rights on your desk, especially if youre a streamer XD. Easy to install on my prime z390a board and no problems so far.As far as the purchase goesPurchased during black Friday, you would think the salesmen would be overwhelmed and be hard pressed to find any of them with a smile or a service level that would barely past muster. Only one of those was right, while there was a Disney Land ride line to get a sales associate 30 mins before closing the salesmen were all very courteous to all and super attentive to those that they were serving presently. A great service model you have Micro Center, Keep it up

This thing is a beast It definitely runs hot so make sure you have a good cooling setup and good motherboard. Went with this over the competition because of the fact that Intel products just work. Upgraded from a system with an I7 2600k from years ago, still worked, ran cool, overclocked and everything. Just time to upgrade. Not picky about ram, has overclocking headroom as long as you can keep it cool. This thing is definitely worth the price, you want the best you pay for the best. I also have an I7 8086k and this definitely out scores it in all the benchmarks. Just running it at 4.7 on all cores and honestly you really dont need to overclock it if you dont want. It will handle anything you throw at it and excels in gaming.

When I first bought this cpu, I was so excited to receive it waiting a year to build my first pc. This worked extremely amazing when streaming on twitch as well as playing multiple games on steam. I have had it for almost 3 weeks now and I had not seen any problem with it. 1010 recommended.
Cameron F –
At 8 cores and 16 threads, this cpu is a monster for any MB that supports it. Encoding No problem. Gaming Easy boost to frames. Streaming Dont worry about it. The only thing is finding a good enough cooler to handle its high tdp.

I have been using one Intel Core i99900K on my Gigabyte Z390 XTREME Motherboard for a couple of months now and they work awesome as a combination. I have trusted Intel and Gigabyte for over 30 years in building computers. With only a few minor exceptions during over 30 years, Intel CPUs have been rock solid along with Gigabyte motherboards. As a computer scientist, I have been using Intel CPUs since the 286 AT computers were the standard back in the early 80s. Their CISC architecture have become a little bloated if you count all of the backdoor holes in security IMHO, but as a programmer I have yet to fully utilize their entire Instruction set and Optimized Compiler technology TBO. I am looking forward to Photonic Processors to replace the energy inefficient silicon transistor CPUs even though this may be years if not decades away.

Make sure to update your motherboard BIOS if you use this CPU, or other very newly released CPUs. Mine didnt seem to want to exceed 3800Mhz until I did so. If youre on a budget or just cant stomach the price, the equivalent AMD CPU is a better deal for similar performance. But I had parts for liquid cooling an intel setup and Im reluctant to change brands without a bad experience.
psycomac –
I purchased this processor with skepticism, given that Intel has done very little to improve on their processors from the previous generations. After I plugged it in and fire up my new computer, using a motherboard that can take advantage of all the cores and maintain all cores at full throttle Ive benchmarked and as expected, it did not let me down. the natural clock of 3.6 Ghz was fast, when things really because fast when I increased the clock via the bios settings into what would be considered overclocking. 4.0 was fast and nothing new, my very old i5 34xx series can do 4.0 without killing myself with the bus values, just let the bios manage it and boom, instant overclock. But, when I increased it to 4.5 and followed to the 5.0 Ghz things really got hot, in fact, I would not recommend anyone to go beyond 4.0 Ghz with this CPU using a basic heatsink and fan. Youll need powerful fans and a large heatsink to keep things cool. I chose liquid cooling to keep things very cool. The only downside I can find is that games do not really use all cores, therefore, overclocking doesnt really give much gains. Furthermore, when you overclock you also drain more power and that increase power usage and additional heat may be unnecessary. I will stick to the natural 3.6 clocks and let my Gigabyte RTX2080 super Aorus handle all graphics computing.
Blankman32 –
I got this CPU to replace my i5 9600k. Best decision I made. I can run games at higher settings matched with my RTX 2080 and the games look and feel great. I just hope that the z390 motherboards will support the new RTX 3000 series cards, so I dont have to upgrade again.
AdamDZ –
It runs at 5GHz all cores, no voltage tweaks, cooled by bequiet Slim Rock air cooler and stays under 90C and around 150W TDP running Prime 95. Idles at 35C. The temps would be much lower, Im sure, under liquid cooler. Incredible CPU. Microcenter had the lowest price by far too.Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro WiFi LGA 1151 ATX Intel Motherboard.
TravisJ –
Purchased this discounted on Black Friday deals. Immediately OCd it to 5.1ghz. Very stable OC with a 5236 Cinebench R20 score with temperatures peaking at 80 But hovering around 77 average. Handles everything I throw at it with ease. Runs in the 50s and 60s when gaming on Modern Warfare with all settings maxed. Very happy with silicone quality and the performance of this chip.

First time in 10yrs i rebuilt my system instead of buying prebuilt but felt it was time to give it a try. I had already purchased from BB the MSI MPG z390 Gaming Edge AC motherboard so was just waiting for price to be right to buy the I99900k. BB had a great price, better by a few bucks than some big online shop and I had a good BB gift card and club points, so all in all got it for 361 tax top of the line for that cost out of pocket. So ask for BB gift cards for xmas haha. The install was drop and go, easy, fit properly in the slot, close the clamp, attach the cooler. Presto all done. I had no issues with it and used the MSI easy game mode over clocker to boast power as needed.

Im not an enthusiast that tries to overclock everything on my desktop, but I was easily able to overclock it to over 5.1GHz with no crazy heat issues on a corsair H150i and its great. Coming from an i7 3820 after my CPU was severely bottle necking my GPU, I just wanted to play my games and have the best experience possible with what little time I have left after work.I saw frame rates jump from 4570 FPS on some games with my 1080ti not able to even stretch its legs, to over 120160 FPS on the same games.my experiences over the past month with this new build have been nothing but incredible.Note one of my concerns with the 9900k was the thermal issues pointed out on many reviewers videos and on the forums, I have not experienced any of this through my every day use while gaming, the hottest I have ever seen it was a package temp of 56 Degrees C with an ambient room temp of 25 Degrees.

I have my i99900k overclocked at 5 GHz using my Asus motherboards AI overclocking. It performs well a significant improvement over my old i73770k ocd to 4.3 GHz. I have seen reviews where the i99900k runs fairly warm during stress testing. However, so far it is running cool for my daily usage. I use it for desktop productivity. I purchased it to get burst of speed when performing OCR on very large pdf files and when performing some complicated document analyses not just spellinggrammar checking. I have a beQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU cooler. The fans are controlled by the motherboards QFan control, and they are running slow enough that I cant hear them. I have been monitoring CPU temps most of the day using CPUID HWMonitor, and the maximum temp reached on my hottest core was 60 deg. C. The package reached 61 deg. C. Most of the time, though, the temps are hovering between 30 and 33 deg. C.

Bottom line up front, I am happy with my purchase of this specific CPU as well as the buying experience through BH. I would do both again.Ive used BH a lot in the past for photography purchases. This was the first PC component purchase through them and Im pleased with the outcome. Shipping was fast and pricing was actually very competitive and, in a few cases, lower than more traditional PC component sources. For the CPU, I opted for the standard folding box and I have no regrets. Im confident the packaging I received performed at least as well as what the dodecahedron packaging does, while saving me 7.00 in the process As a bonus, the standard folding box integrated with all other component packaging also standard folding box configurations. That made easier to stack my components together without fear of my CPU rolling away. One downside to thestandard folding box though, I was unable to repurpose my CPU box as a 12sided die to add to my oversized DD dice collection. Theres always a tradeoff. This CPU was part of a custom system build designed to optimize performance using Adobe Premiere Pro for a nonprofessional but heavy user read Im not getting paid to produce videos and I dont have a monetized YouTube channel, but I do create a lot of content with effects that require a lot of CPU horsepower to process in a reasonable amount of time.. By design, this was intended to be a 11.5 generationlagging system. By staying a generation behind bleeding edge, I am able to take advantage of cost savings with a year or more of bug fixes, while obtaining significant performance increases. For me, this CPU is replacing a Xeon X5675 12M Cache, 3.06GHz, 6 cores, 12 threads running in a Dell Precision T7500 from 2012. Certainly, the other components in the respective systems also play a large part in performance. Suffice to say, the newer CPU running stock speeds and voltages in the new PC is noticeably faster when compared T7500 run on the butt dyno.In motorcycle parlance, the butt dyno is a nonscientific method of gauging performance increases to torque and HP by the felt difference riding the bike versus comparing before and after data on a dynamometer. Some riders put more emphasis on the dyno graphs typically, those who post in forums more than they ride. Other put emphasis on how upgrades improved the feel of their ride experience regardless of what a graph might illustrate.

This is still a fantastic processor, especially for gaming and it will pair perfectly with any of the powerful new graphics cards. With a little bios overclocking, it will run stable at 5Ghz on all cores. This has hyperthreading, with 16 threads and this makes mincemeat of heavy desktop workloads. If you can get one for under 300, you have a very good value to performance processor, that will last a number of years still, amidst this current climate of constant cpu releases.
MDA19 –
Pros This CPU is great. We paired ours with a Corsair AIO cooler and its fantastic. We bought two and built two computers and they both are just what we wanted.ConsThe decorative container in the picture was broken for both CPUs. Fortunately this didnt bother the CPUs at all, as they are inside a protective box in the center. In addition, there was a price decrease and when I went to get a price match the CSR tried to tell me how their policy is that only one item may be price matched. I let him know that it was either price match both or Id happily return one and then turn around and buy it again at the lower price. After talking with his supervisor he was able to provide a price match on both units just this once. I absolutely wont stand for that, so if this kind of thing happens again I will return the whatever. You either match the price or dont, people sometimes buy more than one of something.

I am absolutely smashing games now with this 100 overkill CPU.I did notice that Im getting 35 more FPS when I run games that are CPU heavy. Really lifted the bottleneck I was experiencing with the new 3070 RTX.Good product. Took a long time to deliver.

Upgraded my I59600k, using the MicroCenter Warranty i bought, to the I99900k that I wanted in the first place and have been more than satisfied. I had some concerns about possible dataloss and backed up important data, just in case. But honestly, the computer barely blinked at the upgrade. It was the first time in a long time that everything went right when making changes to a system. The 9900k under the same loads, runs about 10 degCcooler than the 9600k too.

I was running a threadripper 2990wx in my workstation for after effects and c4d and sometimes Houdini thinking the 32core beast would slay any tasks I threw at it. Not true Viewport speeds in c4d were terribly slow… slower than my i5 from 2011… and ram previewing wasnt much better. Apparently the lower relatively clock speed and less optimized architecture… possibly combined with issues in windows task scheduler… made threadripper a terrible workhorse for anything but rendering. Enter the 9900k. Less cores, but way faster clock and more streamlined architecture makes this thing way more responsive. I have never been able to interact with my computer faster. And the multitasking is insane. I was rendering with the cpu in c4d, while watching a YouTube video, while also working in after effects actively keyframing things and doing RAM previews all at the same time with no issues. Playback in AR was so smooth I actually forgot that I was still rendering. Maybe I got a lemon with my 2990wx, but the 9900k makes me very happy to be back on team blue. AMD is impressive on paper and in synthetic benchmarks but for me the proof was in the pudding.

I already had a z370 board laying around so I decided take a chance on one of these chips despite performance concerns. It didnt come in the collector box in the product photo. I already updated the BIOS so I installed it and it instantly recognized. My performance tests showed normal performance numbers. I had it on a 240mm water cooler and it was thermal shutting down while gaming. The board did have strict thermal limits to save the chip. To remedy the issue I undervolted the chip to I believe 1.25V and it ran stable and I had no more overheating issues. Very happy.

Has made my life way better. I would frequently top out my 9600k and the lack of hyper threading made life much more difficult for me due to the amount of things i would do at the same time. 9900k solved all of that and gave me a nice speed boost on top. Only concerning fun is that it runs really hot even with liquid cooling.

Micro Center has the best price in the game right now. At less than 100 I had the option to get the i99900K. Did I need this, nope. Did I hesitate to purchase it, heck no. For a new enthusiast the price and performance is obvious. I am still learning about overclocking, but holy cow this thing screams. I have never had the temp over 32 while trying to run multiple programs and using VR. If you have 440 at the time of writing this review and are on the fence go ahead and treat yourself.

If your a gamer like me and want the best performance for playing games, movies and content creator. This is all you need. In my oppinion Intel is really good at making cores for your pc I wanted to buy AMD Ryzen 9 3900X but seen so many people have issues with this working with windows 10 after updates and bios updates causes issues alot with it so I wanted something that was either equal in speed as the 3900X but I have to say the performance of the i99900K is awesome and worth the money I think. If you dont have the money to buy this wait for a sale but my build is powered by Intel. Not a fanboy of intel just really love there products.

Great purchase, nice upgrade from i7 to the i9. I decided keep same MB Z370 and upgrade the CPU to i9 and add the Intel Optane memory. I also increased RAM to 64mb.. I am using the D15 Noctua cooler. Everything is running great. Nice, cool and quick…

I am coming from a 6700K, this was a pretty big jump in raw horsepower for me. Why did I buy this over newer Ryzen Two reasons. One I got this on a steep discount 299 and could not pass up the opportunity. Two I have always appreciated the consistency that intel CPUs have provided me. This has been by far the most powerful processor I have ever owned and it handles CPU heavy games like a champ. Its getting to the point that the main area holding games back specifically is more about optimization, not the hardware, which is where I feel like I am getting to. Paired this with a 2080 at 3440×1440. There are definitely better price to performance options out there for straight retail value, but this one was hard to pass up. One small grip… Intel moved away from the cool box that this used to come in, so now its just a normal old box I am someone who keeps boxes of hardware so this was disappointing.

You can air cool this but you have to nerf it. I know, I know, not ideal but some of us have limited options. I was getting runaway voltage and temp spikes running stock. This worked for me YMMV First, get a good diagnostic like CPUID HWmonitor so you can find whats best for you. Im dealing with a cramped cube case with little CPU head room thus Im using a low profile SilverStone SSTNT06Pro. In the BIOS, disable Turbo Boost and set the Base Clock use to a number between 36 and 43. Obviously, the lower the number, the cooler it runs. Save and Exit. Thats it. No need to mess with the voltage. Guys with the big tower air coolers that have fans that run at 100mph can try higher but at some point, you may need to add voltage. The consolation prize here is that, paired with a good video card, you can game on ultra settings without the CPU alarm squawking at you and the temp exceeding 80C. I have a MSI RTX2080 and am getting 65 FPS in the Assassins Creed Odyssey Benchmark and that is acceptable to me. Also, some games may need to have the FPS capped at, say, 60 so as not to introduce the extra heat.

Switching from AMD 2700x to the i99900k was a decision Ill never regret. You can easily boost this to 5.2 if you get the right voltage and everything down, but if not youll still run at 4.7 which is still really good Havent had any complaints yet and Ive had it about 2 months. This paired with a 2080Super is a crazy combo. Handled the new CODMW with raytracing on throughout the whole campaign with no stuttering and still kept me above 100fps on 1440p Max settings

I waited for the price of this processor to drop before I purchased it and couldnt be happier. Im still using a z390 mobo and was considering going to a 1200 platform but then this price drop put that idea to bed ,why bother jumping up to a 1200 system for marginal gains and a but load more money when i could use my existing mobo and get this gem for a much cheaper price and end up with a rock solid gaming machine. Ill wait at least another year and consider my options to see where the next gen takes us but for not this puppy can handle any game I play.

runs hot and uses a ton of power if motherboard manufacturers dont enforce intel turbo tdp settings. my gigabyte board z390 aorus elite set tdp to unlimited and caused 70c bfv sessions, 90c in blender, and 220 watts power consumption in prime 95 with 100c core temps and thermal throttling. yeah, unlimited tdp gives it great benchmark numbers but crazy power consumption and heat. make sure you set PL1 and PL2 if you get stuck with a board where the manufacturer didnt follow intel spec. on gigabyte boards this will be power package limit 1 tdp watts set to 95 watts as intel specs power package limit 2 watts set to 25 of PL1 as intel specs PL1 is the base tdp setting. this is the 95 watt setting that intel specs it for. PL2 is the setting for short bursts tolerance. intel specs PL2 to be 25 over PL1. So if you set PL1 to 95 watts, PL2 would be 118 watts. as 951.25 118. now the fun here is that you can tweak these settings to match your cooling capability. so with my noctua nhd15 i know it can easily handle 170 watts and stay under 80c under avx prime 95. so i set my PL1 to 140 and my PL2 to 175 watts. 1401.25 175. So for a short duration my 9900k can draw up to 175 watts but then settle down to 140 watts for the duration. Under avx prime this gives me 4.4ghz initial all core and then settles at 4.2ghz all core clock for the rest of the duration. 75c highest core temp. in everything else the 140 watts limit pretty much allows solid 4.7ghz all core in virtually all games and most intensive workloads.

Installed into ASUS Z370H ROG MB. I bought this to replace a i78700k and I definitely noticed a difference in performance overall. I mainly use the i99900k to game but also for music production and video editing and it performs flawlessly for those tasks. Combined with a Samsung 970 nvme drive and 16GB of 3200MHZ Ram if you have the cash I definitely recommend this processor. If not ryzen 3900x is close to performance in terms of multitasking….Temperatures never reaches above 55 degrees centigrade connected to an H90 Corsair water cooler modified with two noctua fans from Microcenter. The chip comes in a cool case and black silk bag.

Upgraded to the i9 9900k from an i7 9700k because the 9900k is really cheap right now and I needed the multithreaded support. I originally wanted to get a 10900k but didnt want to upgrade my mobo for the 1200 chipset. Anyways the i99900k is really fast, I definitely didnt win the silicon lottery but I am able to get 5ghz all core with 1.345v LLC5 which is great IMO to have LLC5 run 5ghz. The only downside Ive found is this csrd get extremely hot, Ive got a 240mm nzxt CLC and I instantly hit tj max when I run prime95 v 26. 6. With avx loads I have to use 3 core offset because I hit max temp and thermal throttle instantly, therefore Im giving it 45.

I guess the numbers dont lie, the 9900k is a significant upgrade on my previous processor without a doubt. The things I didnt expect is how fluid my system became after upgrading. I could multitask while gaming, running multiple programs and never be throttled by my CPU. The whole experience of my PC has massively improved.

Do you take your gaming, work flow, and productivity seriously Is peak performance something that matters to youMe too. I was skeptical at first when deciding how best to upgrade my workstation and the price tag of the 9900 is a serious one. However, the serious price tag comes with some serious computing power. Im not going to talk about numbers, go look those up somewhere else. Im telling you that this thing is like riding griffon. Elegant, powerful, head turning. Everything you need to really take your experience to the next level.

I dont overclock my processors, I like to run them at their normal clock speed. You can overclock it but I dont see the need.I find this CPU works great for my gaming and work applications. I work with very large MS Access and Excel files and play games on Steam. The faster turbo mode does make my CPU cooler work a little harder but I find the chip temperature always stay well within limits, I am very happy with it.

I recently built myself a Ryzen 7 2700X gaming rig. I loved it and it runs fine. I wanted to build a top of the line intel machine as well and compare. So I built this I9 box. Both machines have all MSI hardware, all G.Skill DDR4, all MSI Nvidia graphics, liquid cooling…. This I9 is soooo much faster. I was totally shocked. I love AMD but I wont buy anymore AMD cpus until they up their game a lot to compete with the Intel chips for gaming. Time Spy shows a huge difference, but I can SEE it when I play Division 2, Fallout 4, Battlefield V or any of my other games. its just night and day. And the setup was easier with the RAM.
goodxtwo –
As a videographer, I needed a machine that could handle 4k footage without any lag. After some research I decided to build my first PC and chose the i9. Its been amazing thus far. Scrubbing through 4k footage is seamless and exports are super quick. Its miles faster than the Macs Ive been on for years and Im kicking myself for not doing this years ago. Great product

The title says it all. This CPU is bar none the best CPU money can buy for a 300 series Intel Motherboard. On top of having the most threads of any CPU on the platform, it was also the best gaming CPU period for the time.I say for the time because both AMD and Intel have released several generations worth of CPUs that well exceed the 9900K, for the same or lower MSRP. For that reason, and the fact that 300 series motherboards are no longer supported, I would not recommend buying one for a brand new PC unless you can get one for well below MSRP.If you do however have a 300 series motherboard and are looking for an upgrade, this CPU after a BIOS update is a very strong upgrade.
Jase –
Very expensive CPU, but very fast for video editing and general processing tasks. Possibly the most interesting and confusing packaging for a CPU in my experience it took longer to work out how to open the package than to fit the CPU. Combined it with a Scythe Shuriken cooler and its absolutely solid, though for what I use it for its not been overclocked. Maybe in a few years time as it gets older

The K is for mmmhmm K its a hot one. Thats right folks step right up and get your cooling, because WOW when you OC this processor yea. While one of the absolute best for gaming have your cooling ready and trust me that old 120mm AIO stuffed in your prebuilt pandemic panic buy isnt going to cut it. But properly chilled this baby will easily crank up 5.2 GHZ with blazing speed on a proper MBPSU combination, as long as you have a cooling solution that can turn the Gobi desert into Siberia.

I really needed an upgrade for my CPU so I was looking around for a intel and came across this. It was affordable and exactly what I needed. The EightCore processor is more than enough and will handle all your tasks without a problem. I highly recommend this CPU whether you are building a new computer or just trying to upgrade. Very good buy

I paired this chip with a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Motherboard. I knew this was the processor I wanted due to its high core count and top of the line performance. It did not disappoint. I am seeing performance upwards of 4.9 5ghz with this CPU on all 8 cores. One con of this CPU versus the other i Series chips is that it doesnt come with a stock cooler. Realistically, you wouldnt want to use it with one if it did come with it but this did cause me to spend a little extra on the build overall and spend more time researching what cooler to get. I ended up choosing the Arctic Liquid Freezer ii 240mm and it was a great choice. My CPU never goes above mid 50s Celsius even under load. However, I had to do a lot of research into CPU coolers before I found something that was right for my build. Im glad I chose the motherboard and cpu first since it ultimately impacted every other part decision from then on due to the i99900Ks reputation of running a bit hot. I would strongly recommend an All In OneAIO CPU water cooler for the i9. This did also influence my choice of case because I needed something that could mount a radiator. In summary, its a very powerful processor that fulfills my work and gaming needs despite its now being 2 years old. If youre considering this CPU make sure you do your research on what cooler you will need for it since it does NOT come with one.

I think for the price point of this CPU vs the performance is an awesome deal right now I got this as a build when prices came down for a new system that didnt need to be on the bleeding edge.It has been working great with no issues with a mild overclock. Keeps up with my i910900k without trying all that hard. Great for anyone looking to build a new system on a tight budget while wanting to still have enough power to get some gaming in.
NoRest4wkd –
Ive been using this for nearly a year now, and Im really pleased with the purchase. While it isnt the latest socket version, its something of a bargain and fits the motherboard I had purchased first. Im not big into overclocking, but I have pushed this pretty hard with an AIO liquid cooler, and Ive been impressed with the speed. Im an Intel fan and highly recommend.

Works out of the box, flawlessly with Windows 10. No compatibility issues. When you start overclocking to 5.0GHz all core whoa Performance gains are great. 5.0GHz all core overclock and 4.7GHz cache, runs all my AAA titles smooth as silk. Temps with this OC only get to 80 C max under extreme stress tests, with 360mm AIO mind you. Bought this CPU on sale at Micro Center for a great price compared to other retailers and couldnt be happier.

I upgraded from playing console and finding a good deal on this cpu has helped me. Smoother gameplay at higher fps compared to my previous console having a limit. For its price and only being released two years ago, Id say this deal is a real steal.

If you want the best go with AMD. The Ryzen 9 5xxx line are better performers for the money. If you need Intel Quicksync support then you are kind of stuck with Intel. This cpu performs really well and I have no issues with it but comparatively it falls behind especially in tasks that dont use Quicksync.
Redneck IT –
If your on the edge like I was just jump. You will not regret it at all. The price for the performance is unmatched at this point. 10th gen are stupid over priced and the i9 Still puts them in there place. For an example. Yes you could buy the newest stupid mustang, or you can buy a one year older maro with a big boy v8. What would you do What would the crowds on the side of the road want you to do 1010 would full send again on this deal.

It may not be a 10th or a current cpu from ryzen but it can still run pretty darn good Microcenter gave me a great deal I cant refuse I overclocked it at 4.9Ghz and having no problem whatsoever. Overall I think it was a good decision to upgrade from my older pc specially with deals from microcenter. Thank you

No problems yet. Not overclocked. With an AIO and running at 4.7, this thing still got too hot for my taste. Not dangerous hot … just hotter than any other CPU Ive overclocked. Custom loop would probably be able to deal with it. On the other hand, this thing is so powerful, most people probably have no need to run it at 4.7.

This is a fantastic CPU. I will not mention names but I did not like the way my pre order was handled. So I waited a few weeks until stocks started to come back in. The only MC that had this processor within my driving area was Rockville. So the night before I made a reservation and took the drive down to MC Rockville to pick up this CPU. So far, it is running well on my Z370 platform. While doing a gaming test, the max temps I gotten was 58C with a dual 120mm liquid cooler. 8 cores and 16 threads will be plenty for my workloads and gives me room to grow. I will be switching to Z390 eventually to take advantage of the new 9th gen features. Cool packaging as well by Intel. All and all, this is a great CPU.

Fabulous processor. I came off of an 8700K which was fast but this is notably faster. Especially when loading up applications like Steam. Easy to overclock to 5.0GHz on all cores at 1.325v and easy to install as well. If youre planning to overclock I recommend a custom loop water cooling solution, or so what I do and use an AllInOne Cooler, where everything is assembled for you and just install it. eVGAs CLC 280 is the one I use and it keeps my OCd 9900K down around 35C. Great for gaming as well.

intels processors have always been a top pick for me. Ive always liked how long theyve lasted before having to upgrade. The i9 9900k is no exception. with 8 cores and 16 threads, it will be a long, long time before i ever have to upgrade again. This chip is lightning fast, with the windows loading screen barely showing up before im on the desktop. gaming performance is stellar as well, this chip is plenty powerful to run many of todays AAA titles .

Very good price for this processor especially at micro center. I do remember it received hate in the beginning but as the dust settled this is a truly great piece of processing history. 8 cores and 16 threads I rarely see it go above 40 percent when gaming on max settings on AAA titles. 5 ghz overclock can make it last for a very long time especially when everybodys worried about future proofing.I paired this with a 3060ti in case anybodys worrying about a bottleneck theres absolutely none.

It has been a quite a while since Ive fully rebuilt my PC and Im glad I went with this processor. I got it at a price close to what the online retailers are trying to get for the 9700k. So far everything Ive tossed at it has been eaten up without issue. Watching it hit 5 GHz to tear through my applications brings out the nerdy excitement that I havent felt in a long time.At first I wasnt sure with the 10 series being so close to launch but at this price point I have no regrets and definitely recommend it to anyone on the fence.
mkreinitz –
I have had no problems with this chip. It doesnt have the thermal issues of the 7th and 8th gen Intel CPUs. I cool it with a noctua nhd15 and overclocked to 5ghz on all cores. It never gets hotter than 45c gaming. Its a great product but its definitely more expensive and not worth it to everyone. I find it very much improved over the 7700k which would always over heat
Garrett H. –
I did not overclock this CPU. I mostly just used it for gaming and streaming. The chip stays anywhere between 2956 degrees Celsius. About 2932 degrees just idle and up to 4556 degrees when gaming. Temps may depend on what case, cooler, and how many fans you have. I was using an H150i cooler with a push pull configuration and three exhaust fans. So in total nine fans inside of the white 570x Corsair case. Perfect chip for whatever you want to do, Windows is so smooth, gaming is amazing. Spend the extra money and buy this chip, itll last very long and youll never worry about a studder or freezing in games. Clocks range anywhere from 3.6ghz5.0ghz. Great for overclocking to be honest I regret not overclocking mine while I had it.

I came from 5930K to this and the 9900K is way faster in synthetic benchmarks. It works great with a Passmark CPU score of 21524. This is in the 99th Percentile. I have it installed on an EVGA Z390 FTW board with G.Skill 3200 CL14 memory. Its running at 5200MHz with voltage around 1.26 and bumping to 1.34 occasionally. The system is a custom dual loop with the CPU and GPU on seperate 360x38mm radiators. The CPU runs very warm under stress tests and benchmarks pushing beyond 90C on all cores. I have a couple of threads that will crash in Prime95 at 92C. The rest will touch 100C during these tests without issue. Lockheed Martins Prepar3d v4.4 with lots of addon scenery runs the temps up to 70C. I just dont see a whole lot of improvement in P3D over my 5930K. I expected much more from it.

I built this pc to do many things at once. It has so far excelled with everything I have thrown its way. Gaming, recording and live streaming along with multiple web resources involved like browser extensions, music and back ground videos. I have not ever had a cpu that did not struggle when I unleashed the horde on it. This i99900k has tamed the horde and made it known it can handle it easily.I dont know how it keeps up but it does and does it superbly.I have done several benchmarks and it is up there on top with the best scores I have ever gotten from a build. For the price of the i99900k it is a no brainer. Its worth it and more. Whether you game or crunch numbers it flat out gets the job done.I have Zero regrets buying this for my build and paired with the Asus Z390 Plus Gaming, it has given me beast like performance. I love turning my machine on now, where as before I could go for days and not even care if I booted up my i77700k.It was not a slouch but it did not excite me like this i99900k does. I cant wait to hit the power button and see what else I can get accomplished.Im not fan boiing out here, I just prefer intel and Im so happy they upped their game and can give people like myself an affordable choice that just performs so beautifully.

Coming from a 10 year old X58 platform with an Intel i7 980X 6core that was only OCd to 3.6 for daily use and had it up to 4.4 for smashing benchmarks, this i9 is a noticeable improvement. I ran all my benchmarks with MULTICORE ENHANCEMENT enabled in BIOS, and I obliterated ALL of my 3DMark scores Games load noticeably faster than before and I am able to finally play the first Crysis game at High settings at 4K resolution LoL Comparably, my super pi at 1M went from 10 seconds, to about 7.75 seconds Conclusion When I upgrade to a new platform, I want to see a DIFFERENCE. Thats why I go so long with my builds before switching platforms. I want it to be a significant upgrade. I already had some good parts to migrate 850 watt PSU, 4 TB WD Black Edition for storage, Cooler Master HAF 932 case, LG BluRay burner, and a Corsair H100i AIO water cooler for the CPU. It kept my costs lower than actually building a soso modern mainstream gaming PC. I guess if I am ever able to upgrade this CPU and stay with the same chipsetplatform, maybe intel will have a 10nm CPU with more cores or the same number of cores, but faster clock speeds. Only time will tell

Ive had my new pc built without a gpu due to gpu shortages, but my pc performs AMAZING without it. You dont run games as good as if you had a gpu, but even without the gpu its great I highly recommend this cpu if you can get it on sale. I personally got it on sale, and I used the money I saved to buy ram. Its so worth it

I got this as an upgrade from an i77700k which was much needed. I wanted to start streaming in my free time and the i7 simply could not handle the load when running games that were more cpu intensive. While I have still had some dropped frames while streaming rainbow 6, which is kinda disappointing, it is much better than what the i7 could do. Back to the i9s dropped frames this to me is the one negative about this processor, and its a pretty big one. I got this expecting it to be able to handle that kind of load without any issues but that was not the case. Otherwise it has been a monster upgrade as it can handle streaming on discord while also watching videos on twitch or youtube without any issues.
Geek On The Hill –
Ive been using this CPU in a machine designed for video editing for about 10 months now, and its performed admirably.Ive since moved all of my workrelated applications to that machine. Its scary fast for code compiling and package building. It also handles video rendering and transcoding quite competently when using software that utilizes Intel graphics, like most Magix products. I have an HDMI dummy plug in there to fool Windows into making the Intel graphics accessible to those programs despite the system also having a discrete NVidia GPU.I havent overclocked it because Im more concerned with stability than the clock speed when doing sustained rendering or transcoding. If Im doing it overnight, I just want to make sure its done by morning with no errors. So I cant speak on its overclocked performance.I also cant speak on gaming because Im not a gamer. I spend enough time staring at screens at work.
LeonaK –
Reminder I do not however recommend this at all if youre only doing gaming. No game today will need nor want 8 cores and blistering speeds, I render games and utilize the performance well with that and music creation. Its a perfectly rounded processor and I cant take that away from it. Intel has been sitting on performance increases and lacking in the department for years until AMD finally gave them the run we needed. Zen 2 will be releasing, pushing Intel into another war and furthering our processor needs.Ive seen and used an 8086 in 1989, to see Intel progress only this far in 30 years is an understatement to what they can do. Good on AMD for pushing them back into the swing of things.
Fleming Computer Tech –
I couldnt be happier with the speed.Ive seen in many places that this CPU runs hot. But in my experience, at least with a liquid cooler and good case ventilation, it runs cool. Idles at 2832c and doesnt often break even 40c in most games. Im using a CORSAIR iCUE H100i RGB PRO XT to cool it. Maybe if you overclock it I guess, but then again that usually makes everything run hotter. Maybe Ill see how more current games end up heating it up when they come out later this year. But for anything out now and older, it doesnt have to try all that hard to run it smoothly.
Chris M –
Always been a fan of Intel. Considered the Ryzen, but got this instead due to much lower cost. Run with an OEM Intel Fan, and maintains cool temps at 4.8 ghz under load. Havent had the need to overclock it as of yet. Best processor Ive ever owned D

Extremely fast CPU, have had no issues since the beginning. Using it with ASUS ROG Z390E Gaming MOBO. This thing is a beast and performs extremely good in terms of gaming. I mostly use it for gaming and have had zero issues until now. Performing extremely well on most of the games like Apex Legends, Fortnite, PUBG, Call of Duty Modern Warfare etc without the need of overclocking. 8 Core 16 Threads simply outperforms every application you use.5 Stars to Intel Core i99900K

I had an Unraid running a slightly older 8700k. There were times when it would get bogged down with the virtual machines it was running or transcoding 4k video files. For the giggles, seeing this on super discount, I bought it and slapped it into the system to see if there would be an improvement. The extra 2 cores, 4 threads help quite a lot, especially with the virtual machines. If you are looking to build a whole new system, there are better choices than going out and buying an old 9900k and an 1151 motherboard. But if you have an 1151 based system already, this is the pinnacle of that platform. For my use case it certainly was worth the upgrade with its sale price. One important note, for those that care. The packaging is no longer the fancy hexagonal one in the picture. It is the simple little tiny box any of Intels CPUs come in with no cooler. Doesnt bother me one bit, but I know somebody out there does.

Im pretty happy with my new upgrade.Windows is running super fast by using the game boot mode. Got it over clocked to 5.20 gigahertz with out any heating problems. Temp is staying around 36 to 24 when idle. Im very happy with it. I totally recommend this CPU.

Spent 1 week debating about upgrading my 8700, you tube videos and reviews only showed 34 frames increase in games and minor benchmarks and high base temps.ALL WAS A LIE Im getting 20 Frames on WARZONE. Paired with AORUS z390 Gaming WiFi, EVGA 3070 XC ULTRA, 3200mhz 32gb ram. Stock cpu speeds, Im seeing 140 159 FPS on 1440p 27 ASUS ROG 165hrz monitor.Temps also great about 59c in game. Only 5 more than my 8700Get this thing before 299 sells out. Stop reading them lies online and wasting hours in your tube etching comparison videos.

At first I was a little skeptical because it came in a square box and not the huge geometric crystal casing. But, it is the same processor. I love it, it is super fast I am a twitch streamer, the processor is able to manage my stream plus whatever game I am playing. I do recommend that when installing the processor you make sure that your pc can handle it. If you have outdated parts the processor wont really make a difference in speed.

This is a great product if your looking for a PC upgrade This is great for streaming and gaming at the same time I highly recommend this product Also Micro Center has the best prices around so I would highly recommend this product and Micro Center

Pros it is clearly very very fast, even non overclocked it seems faster than my old 8600k 5.0GhzCons to much packaging, talk about wasting materials , the plastic octagonal box is likely expensive to make and totally pointless, Intel should think more about the planet here I think. Especially when they put so much effort into making the actual processor so energy efficient.

I bought my computer in 2018 and it was probably the best you could buy…gaming ibuypower i7th 9th gen with SSDs, 16G RAM, 850W power supply, an ACER gaming 144Hz 27inch monitor etc. I wanted to upgrade to get another 4 years of good gaming performance. I did not expect the difference to jump out at me…I was playing the disappointing cyberpunk 2077 but it was very noticeable. Due go Covid, I did not install until 2 weeks ago. The bus architecture would not allow going to i10. Best Buy installed for free as I have TTS.

Great CPU with absolute maximum performance. Nothing even comes close to slowing it down. Overclocks well. Only negative was that mine ran around 80c when playing intensive games. That was with a Hyper 212 heatsink with 2 fans on the heatsink on stock clocks.

At first, this is actually my first time seeing new packaging with premium plastic casing including the pouch, compared to previous Intel CPU product that uses traditional cardboard box. In order to open it, I had to use the knife to cut the tape, and then pull the plastic case off to open it. As far as packaging goes, its bulky and big. So, I wish Intel uses high quality cardboard box which is a lot easier to open the box and install the CPU onto the motherboard. That way, we save time. Coming from Kaby Lake i77700k, it was well indeed worth the upgrade for better performance. I was really impressed that Intel finally listened to customers feedback, regarding temperaturewise when overclocking their CPU. To recall CPU product, Sandy Bridge CPU i7 2600k uses Fluxless Solder TIM which is easier to overclock at higher clock speed at lower temperature. Later on, Devils Canyon CPU i74790k, for instance, uses Polymer TIM which delivers much better thermal performance and overclocking stability. Speaking of overclocking, I was able to overclock my i99900k at 5.1GHz in all 8 cores16 Threads with 1.32V which Im very happy with my overclocking results. Minimum temperature was around roughly 3040c, average temp was 5061c, while max temp was around 8081c for short period of time which is not bad in gaming video editing. The air cooling solution was Noctua NHD15, applied with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Thermal Paste. There are plenty of decent thermal compound you can purchase online such as Arctic Silver 5, Arctic MX4, Noctua NTH1, etc. Motherboard I use was Gigabyte Aorus Master Z390. Last but not least, graphics card and case was MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 2080 Ti and Cooler Master H500M Mid Tower Chassis. When I overclock my G.Skill TridentZ RGB 4000Mhz DDR4 RAM kit, I had to raise VCCIO InputOutput Voltage at 1.04V while VCCSA System Agent Voltage need to be raised at 1.09V via UEFI BIOS to ensure RAM overclocking stability. For performance, gaming performance was consistent, video encoding time was improved, its easier to stream multitask simultaneously without frame drop. For example, playing streaming the most popular games on Twitch such as PUBG PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds, Fortnite, Call of Duty Black Ops IV, League of Legends, Battlefield V, CounterStrike Global Offensive, Path of Exile, World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, you name it. For supplies, its unfortunate that i99900k is currently out of stock due to supply and demand. In addition, it may be difficult for customers to make the right decision to purchase since its hard to find one in stock at most retailers these days. From my experience, I preordered i99900k at BH Photo Video on October 8th, 2018 during 9th Gen CPU announcement. By the time it was officially launched at October 19th, 2018, I was extremely disappointed and frustrated that it wasnt available in stock, and thus I had no choice but to cancel the preorder on BH Photo Video. So therefore, I have decided to patiently wait until October 26th. Luckily, Ive purchased i99900k and Gigabyte Aorus Master Z390 Motherboard Bundle at around 3PM Pacific Time on Newegg. I was so glad that Newegg had enough supplies right before it ran out of stock, compared to other retailers like BH Photo Video, for instance. Yes, it was shipped from Newegg Fulfillment Center at Edison, New Jersey which took 5 days to ship and arrive in Northern California via FedEx. As soon as I picked up the package at FedEx Store, the package was safely intact, no bent, no torque, no damage at all. But hopefully, there should be more supplies for everyone else who wants to purchase i99900k for an upgrade. Although it is indeed prohibitively expensive, it was specifically ideal for enthusiasts gamers and content creators who wanted the best mainstream 8core CPU performance. Of course, when it comes to pricevalue, its subjective to all consumers, whether heshe wants to pay at high price for better performance or go with other competition like AMD, for instance to save money while delivers great performance. And besides, life is about choice, rather than enticing customers to buy specific CPU products, regarding pricevalue. Hence, it all comes down to personal preference. One thing I like to point out the conundrum on why i79700k has no hyperthreading but i99900k has hyperthreading, even though both have 8 physical cores that causes price point differentiation. Sadly, it may be confusing to some consumers whom gotten used to i7 brand as premium mainstream product line for quite some time now. But other than that, its going to take some time to train their muscle memory as well as memorization to get used to i9 as a new i7 replacement brand for Intels mainstream CPU product line. Overall, Im very happy with my purchase for an upgrade, and I recommend i99900k if you want the best mainstream 8core CPU for gaming, multitasking, streaming, and content creation.

Excellent cpu, doesnt run as hot as some say. Have mine over clocked to 4.8 all cores 1.25v and never see Temps hit 60c under load. Did overclock it to 5.1ghz on all cores 1.35v and Temps were 75 to 78c which is still decent. But be mindfull it all depends on cooling and silicon lottery. Im running a corsair h150i 360 aio radiator.

After my old computer bit the dust, I decided to build a new one and debated on an i7 or i9. I went with the i9 after reading reviews, talking to friends, and debating the prices. Im glad I did. My computer is running smoother than any other computer Ive owned and I feel that Ive gotten something that should be able to help me move forward and still be able to keep using newer software. I added a Noctua cooler and were up and running

Ive been running my i78700K for two years. Never an issue. It was time to move to a Z390 motherboard and upgrade my CPU, so I selected the i99900K. Why Because its still the best gaming CPU out there. Yep AMD does make decent stuff, but if you want the best CPU for gaming, this is still it. And yep, you can easily see the performance difference between the 8700k and the 9900k. I dont overclock so I cannot comment there. Oh and the packaging is darn cool too… Remember to get a good heatsinkcooler when you purchase as the i99900K does not ship with one, which I think is a good thing. Get whatever you want I went with a closed loop system from Corsair.

The Intel core i99900k is great for workstation applications. With the addition of hyperthreading and a higher boost clock, the i9 handles CPUintensive workstation processes much better than its i7 counterpart. However, if just gaming, there is no substantial improvement over the i79700k. The same applies for general multitasking.Overall, the i9 dominates workstation applications but is not worth it just for gaming.

Upgraded from the I77600k to this beast, and WOW. I have it over clocked to 5.3GHz with the thermaltake Floe Dx premium AIO and it is blazingly fast. Windows starts up before I can get seated, apps open and run seamlessly. If youre of waiting for the next gen of Intel CPUs dont. Get this one, excellent price, 8 cores, 16 threads, hyperthreading, everything you need to blow the competition away while gaming and then log off and do some Adobe Photoshop.

Ive build PCs for years, and Im a workstation user not a gamer or overclocker. I set them up to run cool, and stable for a long time. I Built this system, monitored all the temps, Loaded Windows 10 to my M.2 drive, and I was up and running, and started editing videos to see what it could do. By the end of Day 1, the system started randomly crashing during video editing. Went into the bios, checked the tempsvoltages, everything ok… Stable temps, stable voltages. So, I started looking at drivers. Didnt see any issues there, but Windows would randomly crash even when using basic functions. Right click Computer, Bam reboot. Formatted the drive to reinstall Windows 10, and thats when I started getting the WHEA Uncorrectible error. Windows installer would crash at about 23 of installation. I tried USB and DVD installers based on the Microsoft media creation tool. I tried my old trusty Win7 install disc too. Ram check ran, didnt find any issues. Scandisk, good there too. Swapped HDDs. UEFI vs Legacy, Tried just about every combination I could, in addition to different ram. When we swapped out the CPU for an older I78700, the system booted, installed windows, and didnt crash using all of my existing hardware. Swapped the I99900K CPU back in WHEA problem returned instantly.

I was looking to upgrade, but with intel making very little progress in the performance jumps even the 11700k is only ahead marginally, it made no sense to go full on upgrade with a new board and CPU. I dont mind not having a bleeding edge build as long as my apps and games run fast, smooth and stable. Ill likely upgrade when intel gets stable production of 10nm wafers, but at the moment even the 11000 series is stuck in 14nm production. were not likely going to see the leaps and bounds intel made in past generational improvements because of the limitations of being stuck at 14nm for 3 or 4 generations now… lots of articles and discussions out there covering this topic. I paired this CPU with 4000MHz samsung bdie DDR4, and it handles everything I throw at it with ease. If youre still on the 300 series platform I would highly recommend this CPU, i moved up from an i7 8700k and have been very pleased in the performance increase. 5 eggs

I wanted to replace this H97plus motherboard I currently had in my build. I was not happy with it. It was a downgrade from my previous motherboad, a Z97 that I had for few years which stopped working. ddr3 motherboad dont seem to be manufactured anymore. I had to upgrad to a ddr4 motherboard. So, I got myself the Z390 TUF motherboad and this processor to go with it. And boy, was I NOT disappointed. This processor is a monster. I never felt my computer faster and more responsive. It was well worth the money spent.

Intel got this absolutely right. Base on price performance and longer term investments running. Its perfect But still run this on a water cooler when in turbo mode thats 5ghz speed.i have got all 3 cpus on nzxt older n61 models. 2 are for simulation stress test modeling and the 3rd for my digital audio workstation windows with thunderbolt motherboard using protools ,cubase etc. perfect bang for a small cost.

Performing just as expected. Coming from a 7700K and has already withstood an overtemp due to AIO pump failure and holds a 5.1ghz OC on all cores at around 1.368v with no complaints so far. Plan on letting it run on game boost for the rest of its life on a MSI Z390 MPG Gaming Pro Carbon. Would have liked it to have been 100 cheaper but oh well. Seems that waiting on the 10th gens wasnt worth it so I jumped on this one.

Intels 9th gen processors are truly a force to be reckoned with, and youd be hardpressed to find anything that can compare, especially with the i99900k. This 8Core, 16Thread, 3.6ghz monster which can be overclocked to a whopping 5.0ghz with ease is nothing short of the paragon of current generation gaming CPUs. Everything from the packaging to the performance speaks volumes about intels ingenuity, and attention to detail. Ive been coming to microcenter for about 3 years now and Im always satisfied with my experience here, not a single question goes unanswered and the people here KNOW THEIR INDUSTRY, SERIOUSLY. Whether you build computers as a regular hobby or are just delving into the thought as a firsttimer, Micro Center has your back.

First off, this CPU is one of the best Ive ever seen let alone used in my entire life for 1511 socket. It runs extremely well with all programs, keeps up with every task, and multiple at once due to hyperthreading, and is absolutely incredible for gaming. No GPU on the market other than MAYBE the RTX 3090 overclocked will be bottle capped by this bad boy. Runs extremely well even out of box

The i9 9900k imho is THE fastest processor money can buy. I have put this cpu through the wringer and it exceeded my expectations. Pros Easy to install, fast, handles benchmarking with ease. Cons The only con I could see is this cpu runs hot hot hot when pushed hard. However, a good cooling system I use a BeQuiet fan or a watercooling solution will take care of the con. Value This cpu is not cheap. But, you get what you pay for. You want an oversized calculator…get the cheap cpu. You want a monster cpu for that gaming rig of yours….pony up the extra cash and get the best.
bljdavidson –
This processor is amazing. The box is really unique. The power and performance is breathtaking. I did a benchmark test on how powerful it is compared to my last one. My last one scored 956 and my new one has scored 4878… I dont really know how the scoring works but higher is better

THE INTEL CORE I9 IS GREAT AND COOL AND SMART AND SUCCESSFUL MEN USE IT BUT THE ISSUE IS THAT I FEEL LIKE ITS GOING TO BE OUT DATED AND SURPASSED SOON. BUT DONT LET THAT STOP YOU BECAUSE ITS REALLY STRONG AND MY FRAMERATES ARE HIGH WITH THIS BAD BOY. ITS COOL AND LOOKS NICE. IM SAD I DIDNT GET THE SWEET 3D BOX WITH ITS THATS A HEXAGON OR SOMETHING BUT I JUST GOT A REGULAR BOX BUT THE CHIP IS GOOD AND STRONG. I9900K10

You may be swayed away by the fact that its not the newest generation, but in reality, 10th gen intel isnt hugely different and this is so much cheaper. I dont see myself needing to upgrade this cpu for at least 6 years. Handles absolutely everything i throw at it without breaking a sweat and actually stays relatively cool for having a 50 air cooler, so an aio or fancy air cooler isnt even totally necessary. In conclusion, i highly highly recommend this cpu, it is totally unneccessary to buy latest gen Intel unless 11th gen is a huge leap foward. There is no beating Microcenters price.

This is the current gaming king. AMD might be a better deal but the fact is if you want THE BEST, this is it. Be sure to get an adequate CPU cooler to maximize the allcore turbo. Using a Dark Rock Pro 4 it never gets over 70C when doing heavy gaming at stock settings without any down clocking. Im using stock settings as I really dont get why people need more than 5GHz on all cores and overclocking this CPU is more about bragging rights than actual performance gains. Just make sure you pair this with a robust Z390 motherboard with good power delivery to make sure you get the most out of this beast. I made this purchase knowing it will outlast my current GPU and will still be relevant even in 10 years to some extent as a gaming build still using my 1st gen I7 in another build. AMD is still trying to compete and I appreciate the effort but just think about what CPU they are playing catchup to even with a 12 core processor Thats right, the 9900K. If you want the best bargain workstation CPU get an AMD but if you want the best gaming CPU get a 9900K.

About 2 years ago, I purchased a z390 motherboard and an i78700 non K with the intention of upgrading to the i99900K when when the price was more reasonable. That day came when Microcenter had an AMAZING deal on it for 300 in store. Went to the Brooklyn location, found a very helpful sales rep, purchased the CPU without any fuss, and installed it right into my PC

To open Cut clear tap for cardboard surround and remove. Pull blue plastic pieces apart and away from each other at the seam. There is no hinge or clasp just pressure fit together. The CPU may jump out when you pull them apart. Overall this CPU is exactly what I wanted it for. It handles everything I throw at it no problems. Ive only seem a few very very slight slow downs in super graphic intensive programs such as games in full settings on an ultrawide monitor. I can say this CPU can handle things just fine if youre looking for a gaming machine to max your settings on. I have not had a chance to test the full 8 cores with any data crunching or rendering yet so I cannot comment on that aspect of this product. But I did slightly bench test this in 3dmark11 just for kicks and I scored just barely out of the top 100 in single CPU and single graphics card setups…. I almost made the top 100 list with this CPU right out of the box everything on default first boot settings…no over clock. I do have an evga 2080ti hybrid too so I am sure that helps with the score, but still, this CPU is a nice pair with a great graphics card

Some of the cheaper Z390 motherboards dont even have the power delivery to sustain 4.7GHz all core turbo, like the ASRock Z390 Pro4 and ASRock Z390M Pro4. If you run any CPU stress test for over 15 minutes you will see the turbo speed throttled down to 3.63.7GHz, which is probably what the processor is originally designed to run at. However at the last second Intel decided to slap on a 4.7GHz all core turbo due to pressure from Ryzen CPUs.

got to use the cpu at the very first with noctua d15 heatsink and fan. was not running any big processes and was staying between 27 and 45 degrees.ran intel tests and passed everything. after just hours of use it froze and gave repeated whea errors and it wouldnt boot. then booted again , then never again. changed ram and boards to different brands and still the same errors.

This is replacing my i76700K which absolutely refused to go beyond 4.5GHz with 1.36V and eventually I had to lower it to 4.3GHz with 1.295V. Also I could never run my RAM at the rated speed of 3200 so was running at 2666.The 9900K doesnt break a sweat hitting 5.0GHz in light usage and without going over 1.3V Under full load it will run at 4.7GHz again not going over 1.3V. This is all with my RAM running at 3200 as wellTo me this is insane that it can do all of this with an extra 4 cores Sure this CPU is still 14nm but you can see and feel how much Intel has refined this process. The performance out the box is a huge improvement for me so I dont feel the need to overclock. Thats for another day.As for temperatures… well first let me tell you that I am using a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler. Running Linpack Extreme stress test with 30GB of memory the max temperature was 94C. I know this sounds bad but this is just the absolute highest it went. It was averaging about 8788C. Its named Extreme for a reason because it puts the CPU under immense and unrealistic loads. You will never be able to stress your system anywhere near this kind of load.In IntelBurnTest Maximum Stress the max temperature was 74C so thats a solid 20C cooler immediately which goes to show just how extreme Linpack really is. IntelBurnTest is also a really demanding program so again itll be really hard for you to put your system under this kind of load during realistic usage. In games I was sitting at 4050C mostly. It went to about 60C sometimes but even that is well within reason but thats the highest it went.Im not sure what else I can say about it. It performs very well. Price is higher compared to the new AMD cpus but it makes little difference in the end because Z390 boards are cheaper than X570 boards. I got a Z390 Aorus Master which cost 280. The AMD equivalent cost 390The packaging it came in is nice but I wouldve been happy with just the cardboard box instead of the plastic case. I was actually going to buy the OEM product but it was out of stock. I guess the case will look nice on display.Overall Im really happy and impressed with the CPU. I would definitely recommend it.

I purchased the CPU the second they were back in stock in Newegg. I bought it with the board with supposedly the best VRM for Z390 series Gigabyte Auros Master. I thought the board was bad originally so I RMAed it and got a second board. Same issue with that board. Could not post at all. Brought CPU to a friends house to use in his board and he could get into BIOS with this CPU but could not load in windows. Swapped back to his 8700k and it loaded just fine. This CPU is now bad in 3 different motherboards and it turns out I may not have had to return the first Motherboard. Next time I go through this Ill just RMA all the parts instead of playing the parts shuffle game. This has been a terrible experience so far. I have never heard of the CPU being bad before, but I guess even though its rare it happens.

This CPU is great if you can find it on sale. Most newer AMD CPUs are constantly out of stock, so if you dont want to hassle with that, this is a great fit. Definitely going to be using this until Intel produces a high quality 12th gen CPU.My only suggestion would be to wait for a sale, believe I got mine for 350.

I upgraded to this from an i54670k and wow what a jump. The i5 was still great for the type of games I play, civilization, sims 4, farming simulator. Unfortunately, games like cities skylines, star citizen, and even Minecraft I needed more and Im glad I got the 9900k. Going from a 4c4t cpu to 8c16t is like going from crt to led, its bonkers. The 4670k used to be in the range of 7590 usage in the last 3 games mentioned but now Im seeing 2550 usage and it feels great.

Upgraded from a i7 5930k because i wanted the best possible game performance. In alot of tasks it is quite difficult to notice any difference but when gaming it runs really well my pc stays pretty silent as the fans do not ramp up like they did with the 5930k. As i use mainly for gaming i did not want to leave team blue but can see why many are now switching to team red. Although i feel i now have the best gaming experience as this compliments my 2080ti. I did get some blue screen issues to begin with until i got the right over clock which is 3 cores at 5 rest at 4.8. I still believe Intel is the king when it comes to single core which mainly means gaming and this is an awsome cpu for this purpose.

Coming from a 9600k, its a worthy upgrade. Get it for 249, never regret it. I can play high refresh rate games at more consistent fps, doesnt get hotter than 9600k except when under full load. Undervolted mine and ocd a tiny bit. Got a lucky bin

The most powerful processor Ive ever owned. With an SSD copilot, it absolutely crushes load times and processing on complex strategy games like Civilization or Cities Skylines. With a fairly simple fan cooler and an adequately ventilated case, keeps to the high 60s C under load.In terms of raw power I suspect AMDs offerings have it beat, and already did on price point.Either way Ive been an Intel man since the 90s and this processors performance has given me no reason for that to change.

After searching for a while benchmarks and YouTube videos, I went from i5 9600k to i9 9900k . Just running stock clocks .. amazing . Some games used to give me some kind of throttle but with this beast . Everything is a breeze. I know some people is going to be , oh way you didnt go with AMD . I know the new gen from Rayzen are amazing , but is way to expensive to do that jump . I just stick with the big guns from intel , for a couple years .

I went from an AMD FX8730 to this processor. Ive had it running for a few days. Even the out of box performance is better than my old CPU. I tried to support AMD but after some issues with my processor burning up after three years, I couldnt justify the purchase. And I dont mean figuratively my processor when turned on with an AIO and Noctua thermal compound burned up to a blistering 107C with heavy load. Finally it went.I havent tested its OC yet, but with a stable 5.0 ghz across the board on many reviews, Im excited to try it out.I 1110 recommend this CPU. And for the price you cant beat it.

Was considering an upgrade from the i5 decision was easy at this price. Simple upgrade with BIOS update overall speed both on benchmarks and in actual work has noticeably jumped. Highly recommend this i9 especially since it allowed me to max out my current setup in one quick step.

Again gaming makes, makes lots of money. 2080 makes lots of money in gaming VR even. Creating content isnt going to be let go of Nvidia Im assuming. People can draw, everyone are wanting to create content and produce goods. This CPU will be able to do that and that of the motherboard. I also equipped with NVMe Samsung hard drive 1TB. I notice that the cost is always low like is always seasonal pricing throughout the year with Newegg.com and sells quickly, nah. I think is because Newegg.com must know closely with the computer manufacturers. Whatever the sell maybe Ive waited to buy at the end of the year. When Z390 came out and i99900K, the deal isnt of products, is forecast sell of the holidays special moment. Happy holidays. Live long and prosper. Fit 4 Flight.

I was looking for a good processor for my first build and I came across this which was cheaper than the ryzen 7 and had better performance quality so I was really excited. I watched this for about a month or two and had the tab to buy this open til I saved up enough money to buy it and I am so happy I got it It can run the rtx 3060 well and I have been wanting to get a processor that could be able to handle the 3060 smoothly and this does well. I recommend this. People who say intels price to performance is bad can be proved wrong with this

This processor is the fastest one I have ever used. Nothing slows it down it can handle high work loads with ease. As for gaming its a monster and very obviously wont bottle neck and lets you have freedom over upping some settings without performance issues. I highly recommend this product to pc enthusiasts that want their machine to just run literally anything they want.

This cpu is amazing Coming from an i5 9600k, people say that the upgrade is not worth it, you get basically the same FPS while gaming, but thats not true. Frame time problems with the i5 9600k would cause games to stutter and for me when it seemed most important. Render times were cut way down. All core 5ghz no problem. Its a monster If you are on a budget go with Ryzen 7 lineup. In gaming it doesnt compare though.

I honestly love this CPU. I upgraded from an i58400 to this behemoth after about a year waiting for the sale prices to take effect. I heard about the Avengers game combo, and a small sale of about 50 off, and I was completely sold on this opportunity. I gladly drove over an hour to get to my not so local enough microcenter and got this no problem. All sarcasm aside, I love this thing. good for streaming and gaming for years to come. 100 recommend but definitely wait until sales hit.

8C16T… what more do you need I initially picked up a 5800X for 420 from Microcenter but decided to return it and get a 9900k for 250… much better value. I have this 9900k flawlessly running at an overclocked 5GHz on all cores and it is just a beast. It does run a bit hot though, I have it on a 360mm Corsair AIO and Im about to swap the thermal paste for Kryonaut to see if I can get some better temps.

Upgraded from an i58600k to this i99900k this year, was able to reuse my old Z370 motherboard. This CPU is the end of the linepeak of the 300series board supported CPUs and depending on the price you paid its a great value 2020 discounted prices vs. launch. Runs HOT, be prepared to have a strong CPU cooler, especially when overclocked. Watch the VRMs on your motherboard if they werent built for this so they dont overheat. 8C16T is the new midpoint gaming CPU with games like Cyberpunk and others pushing CPUs to the max. Needed all those extra threads to support running multiple VMs as well with Covid and remote work.

Awesome processor very fast. Tho I upgraded from the I7 8 Core version and in all Honesty if youre doing Video editing great, but for Music Production I feel like its not needed, ended up having to disable the hyperthreading anyways to make the system more stable. Love Intel, but should work out their virtual cores better or just say hell with the Hyper Threading and go right for the Physical Cores. Best Buy ships incredibly fast, thanks guys.

I bought an i5 8600k and a Gigabyte z370 Aorus gaming 5 back in 2017. I wasnt ready to upgrade my whole platform just yet, but when I saw this i9 for only 300, I checked Gigabytes cpu compatibility list for my board and found out it would work with the i9 with the most current bios. I bought this processor and dropped it into my board. What a beast It runs at 4.7 ghz on all cores and 4.8 ghz on single core. My 240 Coolermaster AIO is cooling it ok at stock, but not sure if it can handle O.C. or not. I am planning to run this setup for a few more years or so and wait until ddr5 platform is out and stabilized price wise. Have this paired with Rtx 270 super and it is doing just fine with gaming.

Picked this up when it was at 299 and it was a steal. Insane performance for the price. Make sure to pick up a good air or water cooler to ensure you dont overheat it. Also make sure to get a compatible motherboard. Outperforms my old i5 by a longshot

The Intel I9 9900K is a top level processor for your PC. The chip boasts some amazing speeds and provides your system with the flexibility to use it not only for gaming, but for any processing tasks you may require. Whether work related or personal use, this chip will keep your computer relevant and up to date for years to come. The chip has excellent operating temperatures when paired with a CPU fan. The multithreading capabilities was well worth the added cost relative to its I7 counterpart.

At the prices these are at this is without a doubt the best buy for intel systems. The next generations are marginal improvements at best that require newer motherboards, which are not great unless you need PCIE 4, or something specific to them. For performance, this overclocks better than the latest generation i9 anyway. Runs hot and depends on your sample I guess. Overall very satisfied with this purchase and MicroCenter. Also it didnt come in the cool box but thats ok

Over all intel still amazing even AMD having a come back…. intel still over all better Quality for gaming and reliable…. it can take heat and stress because my case dont have great air flow and type of game like cyberpunk, arma, dayz, and GTA it can take it…. And I am running about 5.0 GHz 247 and always on…. no issue at all

Its been eating everything I throw at it. From graphic design to gaming to just basic surfing. The i9 hasnt skipped a beat with anything I have put it through. It truly shines with multitasking and does it without even sweating. I was lucky enough to get it for a great price here and dont regret it on any level. The onboard graphics leaves a lot to be desired but that shouldnt matter at the end of the day since it isnt its main purpose.

I bought this CPU for my new computer build at the start of May 2020. Combined with a MSI pro carbon gaming mother board I could not be happier. I was able to overclock it on the fly with the MSI motherboard to 4.9 ghz without altering any voltages or tinkering with bios much. I play a very cpu demanding game online MWO and I am hugely satisfied with the results this cpu has delivered so far. Microcenter had unbeatable motherboard core I9 combo deal that saved me over 80 dollars on my build just with the motherboard and the CPU alone. Factor in the deal they gave me on memory and a cooler and I saved about 120 dollars towards the build than had I gone with online competitors. Only regret is finding out 2 weeks later that the core I10s are going be cheaper than this cpu. Still my original core I 7 is going strong from my build in 2012. Overall thrilled with the product have yet to meet any actual in use problems. Even during intense gaming the CPU temp has not exceed 65 c usually it is around the 55 c mark when playing online matches with 24 other people.

Its the almost the latest gen but still a power hog. Keeping it cool is a problem. NO AIR OR WATER cooler manufacturers give engineering thermal data. nothing but stupid LED crap.I use it for rendering 4k video. far more strain than gaming. Rendering is pure math. Its all on the processor. where gaming is a split between GPCCPU. So the need for a large cooling system is required. A single heat exchanger will allow Temps in the low 90s. the double H.E. keeps the Temps in the low 70sAbout the processor my i7 quad core is several hours for a 5min file, the i5 6core is faster but this i9 renders a 30min 360 camera 5.2k file in about an hour. The CPU load is 100 all 16 threads. It is a phenomenal improvement. no more waiting till morning to see the results

I purchased the Intel i9, based on reviews. They have so many variations of the same processor, but this one seems to have the most bangforthebuck, if you will. Very fast. Very stable. Have had zero overheating issues. Out of the box, it runs at 3.60 GHz, but I have it running at 5 GHz, with no overheating or instability issues. The only thing I had a problem with Was figuring out how to open the ridiculous blue colored plastic hexagon cube that Intel packages it in. Other than that, Im very satisfied with my purchase.

The Intel Core i9 processor is outstanding. This device makes my computer run faster without any haste. i click it happens. Before i obtained my graphics card i tried to play many different games that my computer could support. the games i was able to play still looked great without a graphics card i could still move shoot and navigate with a quick response time. This processor is AMAZING 1010 WOULD RECOMMEND.

I decided to ugprade my computer after Windows 7 update made my computer unbootable. I decided to get the 9900k and ASUS Prime Z390A motherboard. I reused my GTX 1080 video card. With a Cooler Master 240mm AIO, I manage to keep temperatures at about 70C at full load on a hot summer night.I can playafk on Black Desert Online and play a low to medium intensity game like skyrim, AND stream with OBS to twitch at the same time without much hiccups at 1080 resolution.Interestingly, it also helped my load times for games like PUBG. I had a 4790k and my first game of the day usually takes very long to load i load in when the plane is half way across the map and every subsequent loads, i load in while plane is in the air. Now, with the 9900k, I load into the lobby with the timer at 50sec.As for render times, I do notice that it is faster, but nothing life changing when compared to the 4790k if you are the average joe that renders 1080p videos. HOWEVER, at 4k resolution, it definitely makes a difference. The 9900k should last you a good 4 years, or even 5 years if you overclock it.The blue case was annoying to open and annoying to close. But it is just minor and doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things.

CPU utilization is well optimized, as this CPU can stream, game, and stay under 75. In fact, I left a game open once, and had 2 games running simulataneously. Still worked fine the only reason I knew I had 2 games open was not because of a performance hit, but instead just seeing the other game open. I run this with a Noctua NHD15 air cooler, as Im not a big fan of water cooling. Temps are well in line w this cooler. If you go w this cooler, make sure to get Low Profile RAM. I used 32GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX nonLP RAM WILL NOT fit Purchased this RAM from BBY as well

This thing is a monster Currently overclocked to 5.2 with low 23c idle temps. While gaming it stays below 60c. I run warzone maxed out while having 69 tabs of chrome open to include spotify playing music. In the background ill have discord for communications. I wont have to upgrade this for years. I highly recommend to gamers or power users.

The i9 is obviously one of the best CPUs you can buy. I grabbed this cpu when it was on sale for a great price and its quite the upgraded from the i58600k I was using. However compared to the new line of AMD chips that was just released this is no means the best cpu but I bought based on price to performance and at 300 dollars this couldnt be beat.

What can I say, this is a great processor. It does integer operations, it does floating point operations what more can you ask for I was a bit disappointed it came in a square box, though. Otherwise, runs well with a slight overclock and 240mm AIO cooler.

I bought this as my CPU for a new PC built primarily for gaming and standard day to day use. I paired it with an ASUS ROG Strix z390E motherboard for overclocking ability, but I havent done any overclocking yet. So far I have had zero issues with it and Im looking forward to overclocking it in the futureMicro Center has fantastic prices for processors and motherboards. Add the CPUmotherboard bundle savings and it makes it even sweeterI built my first PC through Micro Center about 5 or 6 years ago and the whole experience put me at ease about the part picking and building process. It was an easy decision to come back to Micro Center again to build my new PC this year. I upgraded to this from a i58400K and it is amazing. This is hands down the best process on the market for gaming right now. I have not found a single game that comes close to using more than 20 processing power for this beast. I play all my games in 4K at 144hrz with a 2080TI I feel like a god when I game. The jump from a i5 to this is significant and noticeable. This is worth every penny.

CPUZ shows that this cores multiplier is 850, meaning that it will automatically choose which speed it will run depending on the load, meaning, no need to overclock it, it does it by itself. I love that. Ive noticed a definite increase in zippiness in opening and running programs. The only negative is that memory will only run in dual channel, but with the motherboards Z390 Taichi BIOS, one can employ XMP 2.0, it will run the memory speed at 3000Mhz.

PROSEasily oc to 5 ghz on all cores.Extremely fast and with 8C16T very good multithreading capabilities.Fastest single core performance out of the box.CONSNo cooler includedRuns REALLY hot when running full load.Pricey especially when factoring in seperate cooling. So far I m very happy with this cpu, I have it paired with an aio cooler from corsair and it stays cool and stable with a 5 ghz oc on all cores. The processor works great for whatever I throw at it including 3D modeling in Maya, Max etc. Sculpting in ZBrush Digital painting or photo editing in Photoshop Gaming

I was rocking an old 4790K prior to upgrading, and man has it been worth it. This thing just tears apart any day to day tasks in a heartbeat…but you are buying it for the games, not tasks Benchmarking Doom Eternal at 2K Ultra settings with a GTX 1070, I saw a 2025 frame improvement. This thing rips.

Upgrading from an i5 8600k the difference is definitely noticeable. I am using a z390 Maximus hero IX I got the CPU to do 5ghz very easily with really good temps. When playing games I definitely notice that the games were smoother and not choppy at the same frame rate of 30 fps at 4k, which made it actually playable. I am still using a 970 Strix for this comparison I hope to upgrade to 3080 Strix whenever it comes in stock. If you want better fps I suggest upgrading your GPU first not your CPU. I also video edit and the difference is night and day going from i5 8600k to an i9 9900k. I do recommend this CPU but before you spend this much money I advise you to really do some research into the CPU market and see what best fits your needs.

From 0619 I had only built three PCs, including this one. It went as such X6800 4790K 9900K I thought the jump to the 4790K would have been the biggest difference. Ya no. The move to the 9900K from the 4790K was absolutely insane. Stock clocks this is a very powerful chip and would serve you well staying that way. Though many, including myself, will OC. Its only natural Id muse that the 9900K was the best of the 14nm line, including the KFS. There wasis no need if youre in the market on this socket set to go for the others unless you want the brownie points on rarity. The chips that came later in the lifecycle seemed to have been binned well. Discrete GPU and an OC on the K series is, for all intents and purposes, the same as the final two iterations. I held back on an OC until I purchased a case that could support a 240mm water solution, I had initially been running stock clock on a 90 to get by. I have been on the 240mm cooling for just over a year, all core 5ghz at it sings. It runs warm as mentioned above but it doesnt hit the thermal ceiling. Make sure you cool these things properly, OC or not It would remiss of me if I didnt point out that I think there was a good amount of binning and silicon lottery going on. I think I got very lucky with this one. I know many that have had stability issues running stock and even modest OC, let alone 5ghz and above. As stated above, this chip stock is amazing and will serve anyone well when it uses Turbo. If you want some more out of it, a stable OC nearing 5ghz has been a sweet spot for me. Everything that I have thrown at it as been no problem. I would recommend this chip to anyone who is on this socket that wants to step up to the best of the generation.

Ive had my 8700k rig for a while now. When the price finally dropped for the 9900k, I decided it was finally time to upgrade. I could really use the extra 2 cores 4 threads and the slight gain in frequency and ipc. That being said…I wouldnt tell most people to buy this. If you need to buy a motherboard to take advantage of this cpu, youd be better off going with a 10700k or Ryzen 3700x. At the end of the day it just made more sense for me already having a compatible motherboard to upgrade what I had.

Even though the new AMD 3000 series CPUs post very impressive benchmarks I decided to stick with the Intel platform because I think it just requires less fiddling with to make it work correctly. My time for overclocking and tweaking computers has past, I just want them to work correctly now.I dont need the i99900k, I got it because I wanted it.This is paired with a Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Ultra and 32GB RAM.The computer is working well, I am pleased.

I purchased a 9900k open box, and saved lots of money. I was a little hesitant at first because if you are not familiar, every chip is different in terms of how it is binned, and that effects how it can overclock or undervolt. Since this one was returned, I was thinking it would be a chip that wasnt that great. The open box 9900k I received is very good, I am able to overclock it to 4.8ghz on every core at under 1.20volts I consider that to be good in my book, and the temperatures are way lower than stock. Immediately after undervolting I noticed my max temps dropped over 10c, and since I have small ITX build, this was perfect for me.Highly recommended.

I previously had an i7 7700k till I went to micro center and saw a deal on the i9 9900k that I couldnt refuse. Immediately everything runs smoother and fast, especially while gaming. As someone who streams and does a ton of other background processes other than the game on screen, having a strong CPU is a must. Would 100 recommend this product to anyone needing a solid CPU.

I bought this processor since I had an extra Z390 motherboard and I can say that I am extremely satisfied. Honestly this processor is more than I need but it was on sale for 60 off and I though why not. Handles all workloads I have been able to throw at it and hopefully in the future I will have more demanding tasks to use it for.

I won the silicon lottery on this one I was able to overclock my chip to 5.1ghz stable. Theres nothing I can throw at this processor that it cant handle and gaming performance is awesome. If youre a enthusiast and want the best for just gaming you cant go wrong especially with the decrease in its price. Go with this instead of the KS. If you need a more productivity rig obviously go AMD.

Upgraded from my 8700K as this was the highest processor I could run on my board. Dont recommend that to everyone as for some uses it could be pointless. I really just wanted the max I could and it hasnt disappointed. Very happy with my purchase.

Even though this isnt the latest, Im really happy with this. I saved a ton of money over upgrading a motherboard and buying 10th gen, saved a ton of installation time not having to take my whole PC apart to swap the motherboard, etc. Mine is running at 5.1ghz all core 1.312v of course everyones results may vary. I might even be able to do it at higher mhz or lower vcore, too impatient to dial it in further at the moment. Saw some youtube videos about this being hot.. I havent experienced that. Granted, I cool this with a 240mm AIO, and I use Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut as my thermal paste to help as much as I can… but this hits around 75C peak after a 10 minute Cinebench R23 run. More like 5254C during intense gaming. Pretty sure Ill be able to hold on to this for a while.
Tony –
Fast, overclocks well Im at a continuous 5.1GHz stable without running much of a sweat and runs around 5060C under load with a Corsair H115 water cooler. Havent seen much reason to upgrade to an 11th gen CPU yet. This one continues to shred most everything I throw at it.

It was either this or a 3900x. After reading how the 3900x was having issues with boost speeds I chose to go with the 9900k due to it being out for awhile and having read builds being reliable and easily over locking to 5ghz. I do not regret my decision in the slightest. The 9900k gives me plenty of performance when it comes to games or any music plugin I throw at it. The case that holds the chip is super cool as well and is a great piece to display. I have yet to experience any cooling issues with the fan setup Im running.

I upgraded from an i58400, due to my old pc just lagging so much. I record mixed reality VR with camera, green screen, Oculus Quest, and several programs running at the same time while also running the PC game so I needed a cpu that could keep up. This I9 9900k handles everything I needed, and fast Whether you are a gamer or looking for something that handles multiple programs for casualwork, this CPU is the way to go if you are debating between upgrading to an I7 or I9.

For 299, this is best choice on the market. Best value to dollar. Highly overclockable with 360mm AIO. Could go to 5.2 Ghz at 1.30v but too hot for everyday applications. No extra benefit.

In a desktop computer age dominated by AMD Ryzen processors, I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about buying an Intel processor for my first gaming machine. However, in the pursuit of saving money, I did so over its price competitor, the Ryzen 7 3700x, another 8core 16thread CPU, and I havent ever looked back. An excellent CPU that runs smoothly and efficiently, doing exactly as advertised by making my multitasking, gaming, video editing, or day to day use just that much better. Im not a huge overclocking guy, but I was able to get a 4.6 allcore boost with my meager 120MM AIO. Without overclocks, the CPU runs at reasonable sub45 C temps, and even under heavy load stays well under 80 degrees. To give some context, I am a prebuilt computer builder PC repairman who likes to stream, game, and produce content on the side.Overall, the product has remained a gem even after 2 years of newer CPU launches and I heavily recommend this for anyone who is looking to save money over the marginaltomoderate performance gains in multithreaded tasking that the Ryzen line of processors provide, while still packing a behemoth punch for all of todays tripleA titles assuming, of course, youre packing hefty graphics down below.P.S. Oh boy, does this thing game.

This processor was purchased to allow my tried and true 4790k to finally be retire to a comfy home media server station. Out of the box, and combined with a Corsair H115i, idle temps sat at 25C with a max temp of 52C under heavy load at 4.7 GHz. Easily cranked it up to 5.2 GHz with an idle of 28C and max of 71C so far. I am HUGELY impressed by the ease of cooling and headroom on this chip just wow Love it so much I purchased a second one to gift to my father a heavy Photoshop CAD user.

Great improvement over my old i5. Installation was easy by adding a new MB my experience was just what I expected. This was part of a package that Best Buy had on sale, unfortunately when I picked it up I was charges individually and not the package price. There was no receipt given since it was an online purchase I was surprised when I got my bill.

Im upgrading from a Q9550 and a AMD 965 BE and am continually impressed with the 9900K. Worth every penny as long as you arent paying more than 510 for one. Definitely gonna need an AIO or beefy air cooler if you want to run over 4.3 Ghzs consistently. Pairs quite well with the Aorus Z390 Master motherboard. Two thumbs up. Dont let the jaded PC snoobs tell you otherwise, this processor is amazing. Im using a Arctic Freezer II 280 AIO to cool at 5.0 solid clock. 32Gb 3600 CL 16 ram. No complaints.

I updated i59600k with this 8core16thread unit. Coming from 6core6thead I immediately noticed that there is absolutely no bottlenecks for multitasking for my typical workloads.Single thread performance was very similar with overclocked i5 and was already more then adequate. This processor requires proper colling if you gonna to overclock it. My 120mm aio water cooling can barely keep up during intensive all core benchmarks. During real world use sometimes the cpu cooler spikes to full rpm.

8 cores 16 threads. Does exactly what it says. Its a good workhorse and I am able to run multiple tasks and game at the same time on my z390e motherboard. I highly recommend this processor to keep up with games and applications so far.

Bought this for my Gaming PC build and of course I wanted the best. Though I wasnt willing to shell out insert crazy high price here from X retailer, So I saw a sale on for low low price. Im like why not and bit the bullet. Wasnt much more than the 9700k. Im glad I did, its top of the line and works like a charm. You want speed This has it. You want to outperform what your old jalopy couldnt do This does it Want it to serve you cold drinks Yea no, not there yet. Is it overkill Maybe, Yet it has killer performance. If youre building a gaming rig, 9700k will do just fine for todays games. I just wanted something future proof for another 78 years. Best upgrade I made. Edit Changed review to abide by Rules after writing this.

Installed in a new build for audio work. The whole system works like a charm, fast and crisp,no hitches. This CPU must have something to do with that. Have for the most part always had Intel processors. Why change

I waited for this to be the right price for a while. It is the fastest CPU my motherboard could support and with the extra cores it lends a nice amount of processing to my photography and workstation flows. I couldnt be happier.

The Intel i99900k is a great CPU. I recently upgraded from an i38700k, and I knew there would be a huge jump in performance, but the difference Ive seen is far beyond what I was expecting. I got it for a great price, and I couldnt be happier about the performance this processor provides. Do yourself a favor and buy this CPU.

Great processor, I rarely used its maximum capacity, I was disappointed to read Intels policy on the warranty and know that even though I am a processor in the K line, I cannot overclock the processor or memories, otherwise I will lose the warranty. which seems very strange, because I paid a higher price for being an unlocked product for overclocking, and so intel announces it, in this case it is not worth picking up with the K line. I found this very stupid on the part of intel, because they themselves developed the chips that allow overclocking of ram memory, but if I use I lose the warranty of the processor, you can use memories with frequency of only 2133Hz or you can say goodbye to your warranty the same as having a ferrari with a popular car engine, it has power but cannot be used, I really hope that Intel changes its warranty policy.

For those who havent noticed, the latest incarnation of Intels i7 has dropped its multithreading ability. Although theres been a bit of rejigging regarding the number of cores, the i7 seems to have taken a bit of a backward step with the latest Coffee Lake 9th generation refresh. The i9 is now the new multicore, multithreaded CPU to go for if you really must have Intel. Anything else and Threadrippers are still probably going to give you more bang for your buck as long as you can afford the extra electricity to run them. Those in any doubt re the latest i7 vs the i9 should refer to the excellent article in Custom PC a couple of months ago which clearly sets the case for both why the i7 has lost its way and why the i9 is the one to go for.Bought mine to put in a new small server. As youd almost certainly expect for a chip in this price bracket, so far it hasnt been overclocked in any way and hasnt broken a sweat. At the moment multithreading isnt really needed for todays games, but if you also like your multimedia or do a lot of rendering then this will certainly benefit from the extra cores and threads compared to the latest i7.Amongst other things my server is now running a custom ARK server, and so far doesnt show any signs of stalling with multiple users online when it performs a world save midgame. This probably has something to do with the checkbox in Server Manager being ticked for Use all cores, but it shows the power of this chip.If you can afford one then definitely have it on your shortlist to give yourself some future proofing. A lot of practical apps can already make use of the multithreading, and its only a matter of time before the next generation of games start to follow suit too.

I purchased this processor in November of 2020, in just around 4 months its now completely dead. Testing on multiple rigs has shown that this CPU was the only failure point. No overclocking was done to the system, it was just meant to run normally. For how much this processor cost it is unbelievable that it didnt hold up for longer than 4 months.

I had hoped that the new hardware mitigations in this processor would prevent prevent some of the new malware that is being developed. Spectre and meltdown brought about security concerns from an attack path that has taken the security world by storm. It turns out that Intels hardware mitigations implemented in this processor ACTUALLY MAKE MY CPU MORE SUSCEPTIBLE to new attacks like fallout, zombieload, and ridl See the whitepaper titled Fallout Reading Kernel Writes From User Space Temperatures are 40C with a minimal workload using a Corsair h100i AIO water cooler Im using this processor with Gigabyte Aorus Master z390 motherboard G.SKILL TridentZ Series 32GB 2 x 16GB 288Pin 3200 DDR4 SDRAM

I noticed a reviewer said their chip was DOA. Mine didnt work at first until I updated my motherboard BIOS. Intel updated their chips, so even if your older motherboard would have worked with an older i99900k, theres a good chance it wont work with the new batch WITHOUT a BIOS update. This newer i9900k runs cooler than my older i79700k. I am getting 2527 C across cores at idle whereas the i7 was 3334 C idling. Liquid cooled with a Corsair H100i Pro. Not sure about the temps at load.

If you are getting serious about content creation and dont want to spend 1000 plus on a processor, the 9900k is the best value you can get right now. AMDs closest CPU is 10 less performance for 15 higher price. That may change eventually, but that is a fact right now. At the advertised speeds, the 9900k is a beast at CC. Compared to the 3610QM I leave behind, the 9900k is about 4 times faster to complete a task in Handbrake, and about 4.5 times faster to complete a render in Resolve. Thats not nothing. With the Asus z390e and a Dark Rock Pro 4 air cooler, 4.85.0Ghz all core is absolutely doable though the temps and power consumption can get pretty high. There are some asterisks, of course. To get those kind of frequencies on an air cooler, you will have to AVX offset so that AVX heavy load tasks are running more like 4.6Ghz or 4.7Ghz at the most. Not that it matters anyway. Above 4.6Ghz or so no matter if you got air or AIO or WC, the real world performance gains are almost nonexistent while greatly increasing your temps and power consumption. And its not due to throttling. There is just not much to be gained up there. Every 100Mhz all core extra is maybe 34 seconds off a 10 minute render job. Its almost nothing. I did under volt, and I got good results. I dont think I got a golden sample, but the one I got seems to be above average. But, at the end of the day, even with under volting, the performance gains were minimal and the temps and power consumption got exponentially higher above roughly 4.64.7Ghz. Above 5.0Ghz all core, things start to look crazy and I would not recommend it on air even with a golden sample. So, my advice is to find yourself a sweat spot 4.85.0Ghz all core with an AVX offset of at least 23, and leave the higher frequencies to those chasing benchmark scores. Overall, I am super happy with my 9900k. This CPU is great for the content creator. Absolutely crushes 4k in Resolve, and I only have a 2070. I cannot even imagine what it would do with a 2080ti. Color grading in 4k is now a pleasant experience, and no more proxies for this guy. My workflow time is now hours instead of days vs the 3610QM670m I had before. I plan on sticking with 4k for a good long while, so I can see this CPU serving me for at least 67 years. If you are looking to go higher res with your camera gear, might be worth the investment in a 2080ti but I would still get this CPU.

This is the catch of the week. This processor premiered at 500. I got it for half. It is, only slightly debatebly, the best 9th gen intel socket 1151 processor available. The next best deal is to upgrade to an entirely new generation. This means new motherboard and new processor. Seriously satisfied with the purchase that at the time second best 11th gen hadnt been available widely so second best gen which is fine for me.

Hope this review might help someone with the decision I just made to upgrade to a 9900K.I upgraded my GPU recently to a RTX 3070, after that when playing some games like CoD my I5 8600K was pegged almost all of the time at 100 usage on all 6 cores. This was while being Overclocked to 5.1ghzI knew I had to upgrade my CPU as it was a huge bottleneck but I was afraid the on paper specs of only 2 more cores might not be enough.. I was wrongThe 9900K improved my average FPS by 30 removed the bottleneck and averages 30 usage during CoD gameplay.Bottom line, if you have a similar situation where you need more CPU power but would prefer to minimize your upgrades the 9900K is phenomenally more powerful then the 8600K, despite only 2 more cores and a few more mhz

There have been other options that are better. AMD is suppose to be a budget friendly but not anymore. My z390 board Xtreme was about 450 while the same motherboard in x570 is about 700. So do I really want to pay an extra 250Motherboard and 100 cpu for a performance increase of 25 go for it.. 9900ks 9900k binned chips. Im perfectly happy knowing my i9 can do the same work for about 350 cheaper

Great processer, easy to overclock. I got lucky with mine and test in the 92nd percentile. This CPU will not let you down. Ive thrown a lot at it many times and Ive never had any problems. After switching from AMD Id honestly never go back.

I had been using a 9600K on a good MSI MPG board for the last year and a half or so, and saw the 9900k was on sale a couple days ago, so I decided to pull the trigger and swap it in and replace the 9600K, as the 9600K with its lack of hyperthreading is already becoming saturated in modern games. It was a good move. Some things you just cant quantify with numbers and graphs. While the 9600K and 9900K theoretically offer similar performance in many games, the 9900K feels more consistent snappy in games and for everyday general use on the desktop. Much has been said about what a challenge the 9900K can be to cool properly, and this is mostly true if you plan to aggressively overclock it and if you push it at or near its limits in applications. But what I found is that my 9900K is actually easier to cool than my 9600K was in the same tasks because the 9900K isnt nearly as stressed and saturated in modern games as the 9600k was, which always seemed to be running at anywhere from 60 to 90 of its limits in demanding games such as AC Odyssey, and so it always ran hot. Most modern games dont push the 9900K all that hard in comparison, and so in many instances, it ends up running cooler than its 9thgen I7 and I5 counterparts. All in all, Im happy I upgraded. The 9900K is a great CPU so long as you have a decent cooler to go with it.
