I’ve had Sony and Samsung phones historically, and then an iPhone 5 & 6 more recently. I have completely lost faith in the iPhone, as the battery life is appalling. I also found out after replacing the battery that the iPhone 6 was cobbled together from different phones and then sold as a factory sealed and unlocked unit. Anyway, the Huawei P10 Pro is everything I wanted in a phone. The major appeal being a keen photographer was having the dual Leica lenses, and boy do they rock! The screen is large, and is a joy to edit images in Lightroom on the fly. The finger print sensor is amazing. My old iPhone 6 sensor was sluggish and often I’d have to input my pin tomunlock it. The P10 Pro is instant. My finger barely has to brush the sensor and as if by magic, the screen unlocks. Having used the phone for a couple of weeks now, I’m finding it a joy to use. The interface is very intuitve, and isn’t a million miles away from using iOS. The only difference to an iPhone is that I miss is imessage, but I can live without that. The battery life is superb. I charge in the evening once a day, and the battery sees me through until the next evening, even using a lot of demanding apps throughout the day. There’s really nothing negative I can say about it. The rest of my family have seen it, and all want to make the jump from Apple to Huawei! A few friends have commented on the Chinese being party to my personal information, but as far as I can see, it’s really no worse than the Americans or whoever having the same information via Apple or another brand. A great handset with loads of features and an amazing phone to boot! Love it! 3 people found this helpful

July 2022 Colour: Dusk Verified Purchase I had the Nokia 5 and 5.1 before this that were both excellent phones, despite the occasional software glitch And for the most part I have to say this is the same A good, stylish, solid looking phone, with a decent (although not quite as good as advertised) battery life There is the occasional software glitch, apps that may not open as another app is somehow blocking use even if no apps are open, but this doesn’t make it a bad phone, just a bit annoying at times The interface takes a little getting used to, such as not having specific buttons for back or to open the list of open apps etc. I found this annoying at first and almost sent the phone back tbh, but stick with it and it actually feels intuitive after some time of using it The camera is ok, not amazing quality but it’s a camera phone, what do you expect All in all I really like this phone, it does everything I need it to and cost me little when compared to others on the market If not for the slightly annoying software glitches i would have happily given It 5 stars Read more 14 people found this helpful Helpful Report var metricsName = “DesktopCredibleBadgesInTopReviewsDetailPageCount” if(window.ue) { ue.count(metricsName, 0) } daisylousheldon 1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy. I have to restart my phone every few hours or no apps will work or open. The camera is absolutely not 50mp I have a 12mp camera that takes superior quality pictures to this phone, that being said largely speaking the camera app crashes immediately upon opening so I’ve only managed to take one picture out of sheer frustration over the fact this phone just doesn’t work and was an absolute waste of money. As I write this the Gadget Tree app has crashed 4 times and this has taken me about 25 minutes to type. Don’t do it. It’s rubbish and does not fit the specs stated. After buying a Huawei tablet (MediaPad M3 10 lit, 5*) and loving the build quality I decided to make my next phone Huawei. Decided on the Mate 10 Pro coz it had no notch and a 96hr battery rating on GSM Arena. What can I say? Awesome. Very good looks, solid build and it does have that great battery. The Emui skin is not too intrusive but I always put Nova Launcher on for my own customisation. It comes with a clear case, screen protector applied, fast charge brick and some USB-C earphones (and a 3.5mm to USB-C for normal earphones you may want to use). The screen is great. The new 18:9 ratio that most phones seem to have means it’s taller but narrower, easier on the pocket. It does have some strong power saving modes as default but you can soon sort out which ones to turn off. The battery life is really good. After a full, first charge, it took me 8hrs setting it up, with screen full brightness to run it down. Very impressive. After a few days with it being used normally, it easily gets through a day. Sometimes with 60% still left! The audio is another strong point. Using some hi res earphones I get some good, clear audio. I mostly use Spotify at very high quality. I did notice it doesn’t like third party equalisers, preferring it’s own, very customisable app. Using its own external speakers the phone uses a downward firing port for the lows while the earpiece handles the treble. However, switch to landscape mode, for video viewing and the two speakers then also split the audio to stereo too. Very good idea. The camera is very good, plenty of modes, though to be honest, I don’t use it that often. A few stills, when out with friends etc but they look crystal clear. 6gb of ram is more than enough to handle the four constant widgets I have on my home screen and still show no signs of lag. As this model has been superceded by the Mate 20 and P20 models, it’s now over half the price it was a year ago. Also, although it’s a year old, it still has Android 8 so still pretty much up to date, software wise. It’s a great phone, that battery is phenomenal. Very happy with this purchase. 5 people found this helpful

July 2021 Colour: Aqua Green Verified Purchase I’ve had various Moto G phones. This one’s very good and I got it at a bargain price on Gadget Tree. £33 off! I have the green model and it looks beautiful. The camera is okay. A step up from the G7 Power. It seems to take decent snaps in most lights. The macro lens is a waste of time, unless you’re an insect enthusiast or something. I like the screen. It’s quite easy on the eye and it’s perfect for watching movies. The touch functions are very smooth and typing on it’s a joy. Having 5G onboard was an attraction as I regularly tether my laptop to my phone. I got 95 mb/second the other day, but the speed does tail off very quickly as you move into the back garden. Still 30 mb/sec in the summerhouse, so good enough. 5G does hammer battery life, which is another good reason to choose this phone, with Its huge battery. I turn 5G off until I need it and I’ll get a couple of days between charges. The fingerprint reader works really well and Android 11 is a good step forward, with all kind of thoughtful new touches. My G7 Power was never quite the same after I upgraded it to Android 10. I doubt I’ll make that mistake again. I’m a big fan of the G series. If you want a powerful budget phone that’s well put together and offers 5G, then this is ideal. Worth tracking on Gadget Tree for a few days. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 January 2023 Colour: Aqua Green Verified Purchase I find this perfect as a replacement for my laptop so am probably not the best person to write a review for those that spend their life doing what others do with smartphones! But for those on the move that have been forced to scale down from a laptop (as I have), this works as my mobile office. I carry this along with a Perixx PERIBOARD-409C Mini Keyboard, which plugs in to the phone’s USB-C socket and a Bluetooth mouse (when really strapped for room, I also use a Bluetooth fold-up even more mini keyboard, though the mouse and keyboard have occasional fights for the Bluetooth). Most of my apps are work related, so have no idea of gaming capabilities or the like. I mostly use Microsoft apps, usually Office 365. It has room for two SIMs, though I use only one SIM and have a mini SD card in the other to store about a week’s worth of music for playing via Bluetooth devices. Works fine. I have only used the standard camera and, whilst it seems to do well when the light is not that great, I far prefer using a standalone digital camera, where I know better what I can and cannot get away with when photographing for reproduction of images in printed publications. To my eye, the results do not quite match what my naked eye is seeing, so there is obviously some sort of processing going on that I do not yet have any sort of handle on. Oh, yes, I occasionally use it as a phone! Rugged build Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 May 2022 Colour: Steel Grey Verified Purchase I replaced my aging Moto G6 Play with this as it was really starting to show its age. Perfect upgrade. phone is fast and responsive, doe in fact run 5G when its available and has an absolutely brilliant battery life. It should easily get you through a long day of quite heavy usage. The performance of the phone wont match the latest handsets, but that’s not why we are here is it? The performance will be absolutely brilliant for day to day use of YouTube, email, internet chat etc. and can in fact handle some games (League of legends wild rift) with ease! Build quality is typically Moto. Rugged and sturdy. I cant buy a metal chassis phone because they bend inside my pocket. this has no such issues. The fingerprint reader is fast and the handset DOES support facial recognition. camera does the job and offers decent macro performance but again if you are using your camera a lot or an Instagram enthusiast / Vlogger this is probably a little low end for you. To summerize a brilliant day to day phone. Bags of performance and battery life without the need to spend a fortune. ALSO supports Android 12 which just installed. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 December 2022 Colour: Aqua Green Verified Purchase I am a Moto G fan and have been for years. I had the first model (Moto G) when it came out and every few years I get a newer, more up-to-date version, but only when the old one’s Android operating system becomes too out dated. So I don’t buy every new model/version by any means. Great basic phone. Lots of memory and a great battery. Nice big screen. On the downside of all Moto G phones is that Motorola only gives their phones a few Android updates, so the operating system becomes outdated in a couple of years, which means that it’s security is no longer as good or trustworthy. So in my mind this is how they build in obsolescence and force you to buy their newest models if you care about how impervious your phone is to bring hacked, etc. I happen to care very much. Then you should consider this phone. Lots of reviews here covering this phone so I won’t go into all the details – but I bought this phone outright at the give-away then present price of £360 (inc vat although the seller couldn’t provide a UK vat receipt for the phone claiming they weren’t vat-registered (which seems almost impossible for the size of their operation)) but that aside (or even included) the phone is both excellent by any standards and excellent value outright (at the current price). I bought it to replace an ageing Huawei P9 which I bought on contract in 2016 so to anyone who considering the same, don’t hesitate at this kind of price to grab one while you can. It’s noticably faster with an even better screen than the P9s which was already very, very good IMO. To anyone who is still weighing up spending over £300 more for equivalent ‘top brand’ phone (Apple, Samsung etc) then DON’T unless: 1. You’re very fussy about having a Mac-like interface/options etc, etc, and you’re happy to pay a £300+ premium for it. 2. You think you can find an equivalent phone elsewhere for the same kind of price – which I don’t think you’ll be able to – especially if photography is important to you (in which I don’t think you can beat this phone with it’s Leica lens/software (which is excellent) either). 3. Unless having a superfast phone/battery + OLED screen isn’t that important to you either* *I was looking at my UHD/HDR Netflix movies/box sets on my phone last night and the contrast/colours when viewing those on this phone is truly astonishing and 100% better than my 10bit 50″ UHD/HDR LG TV (although it’s LED and not OLED). The contrast/colour quality of this phone is astonishing. I actually prefer watching UHD/HRD content on my phone with my a headset on (although the sound quality doesn’t compare that way) to watching UDH/HDR movies/box content on my £600 50″ LG TV. The build-quality of this phone is excellent too. There’s nothing to fault here unless you do prefer an original iPhone/Mac interface + lock-in and don’t care about the aforementioned £300+ premium. Bottom line: Buy one while you can. Personally I wouldn’t bother getting the Huawei P20 Mate Pro either as I can’t see the minor extra features of the P20 Pro justify the £300-£400 premium for that phone either, as excellent as that phone no doubt is too. 48 people found this helpful

This phone is stunning and it’s incredible that it only costs £380 (when i brought it). Although it’s not perfect, it ticks the boxes that i would want out of a smartphone. Design: This phone’s design is gorgeous, its so elegant and attractive to look at. It’s nice and thin and i love that it has a slight curved edges. It’s a very sensitive design that heavily requires to be protected with a case, thankfully there is a case provided in the box which is very nice. Display (6 inch 1080 x 2160 amoled display HDR10 compliant): This is my very first time owning an a smartphone with an amoled display and its beautiful especially when you enable vivid mode and FHD+. I love how the colours are so bright and vibrant on this phone and when you consider that its a 6 inch screen, watching media is a joyful experience. Speaker quality (stereo speakers): The speakers are outstanding!! It’s crisp, loud and clear especially when you rotate it to landscape. I highly recommend enabling “stereo+” in the settings to experience the quality of the speakers when watching media content in landscape. Huawei does provide a type C earphones which is great and they do offer some features in the settings to enhance the experience. In terms of it’s quality, when using the earphone indoors is very good, however when using it outside is not so good mainly because I find that it’s very quiet and when enabling the “Huawei listen sound effects” it helps a little bit but not that much. So i used a third party in ear earphones and it performed much better than the Huawei’s earphones. Battery and charging (4000 mAh battery): Another reason why you should consider this phone is the battery life. It’s absolutely fantastic! I can easily get above 6h of on screen time at maximum brightness and the phone will still be above 50-60% (i am a faily light user). It’s a joy having a smartphone that is able to last throughout the whole day without charging it. The phone also comes with Huawei’s super charging and it charges very quick! Rear Cameras (12 MP, f/1.6 & 20 MP f/1.6 laser AF 2160p@30fps, 1080p@30/60fps) and Front facing camera (8 MP, f/2.0 ,1080p@30fps ): When it comes to the camera quality, it’s brilliant! I love how quick it focuses on a certain item and having a monochrome camera is a great option to have. Video is also great as well, the optical image stabilization (OIS) is CRAZY SMOOTH! I just love how the camera focuses on the subject when recoding video. The interface is complex and there are ALOT of options, features, etc, so it’s going to take some time getting used to how to actually use the camera to it’s best ability. The front camera is pretty good, i haven’t fully tested it but from what I’ve seen so far, it has a potential of being a fantastic front facing camera. Software (EMUI 8.0 Android 8.0): I have to say EMUI isn’t that bad at all, it’s relatively easy to navigate through the software. There are things that i dislike about this UI. One of them is the knuckle gestures, I find that it’s a aggressive feature to use and it requires to really use your knuckles in an aggressive manner in order for the feature to work. Also, when receiving notifications on the lock screen, i can’t seem to expand the notification and the only way to expand the notification is to unlock the phone which is quite annoying. But, once you get used to EMUI, it’s a pretty good UI that has room for improvements. Performance (HiSilicon Kirin 970 GPU Mali-G72 MP12): Performance is great on this phone, it quick, smooth and its fairly reliable. There are some minor issues, lags, etc, but that can all be fixed with software updates so it’s not too much of a concern. Other things: The fingerprint sensor is nice and fast and you can also use the fingerprint sensor for other things like to swipe down (on the fingerprint sensor) to get to notification panel, browse photos, answer calls, stop alarms, take photo or video, etc. Face unlock is fairly reliable to use, but sometimes it takes awhile to find your face (especially if you are wearing a hat or in a dark environment), call quality is very good on this phone, using mobile data absolutely fine and the vibration it’s excellent on this phone. The phone is also IP67 dust/water resistant which means it can handle water up to 1m for 30 minutes, so getting this phone wet is not a problem. This phone does NOT have a headphone jack, however Huawei does provide a type C to 3.5mm headphone converter in the box so don’t lose it
Overall, this phone is a beauty and although it’s a year old, it’s a smartphone that should be heavily considered especially when you look at the price of this phone. It’s a beautiful, stunning smartphone that can improve greatly with software updates. The only thing that’s stopping me from rating this phone a 5 star is the software. Nevertheless, the Huawei mate 10 pro is a smartphone that i highly recommend. 5 people found this helpful
