I have this in white…it does show dirt easily but expected, to some extent.Quality of the sound is very good, in my opinion. Since I stream my music and have nothing on my device iPhone to play, i am stuck using the builtin EQ. Most of the sound from the speaker sounded hollow at first. I have my EQ set to Latin and that improved it dramtically.Other reviews and the specifications state the sound is better and louder when plugged in. This is VERY true. But, on battery, its certainly more than average.I recommend this speaker, for sure. Its larger than you might have expected. It will not fit in a bagpurse. It should fit in a backpack, but I wouldnt do it. Its easy to carry as it is nice built in handle.Controls are easy to understand and use.Bluetooth setup was simple and straight forward for me.

I specifically bought it for the ultimate back yard poolside experience. I have both speakers linked to my phone blue tooth and couldnt be more pleased All my friends are green with envy.

I bought the speaker last month as a present and I am grateful that I did. I am so amazed with the performance that I am looking to buy one for myself. I would highly recommend it for a home office or any personal use. Strong deep sounding bass but could use a little more trouble and high end tones. Overall it is an amazing speaker the build quality is fantastic with lots of attention to detail.

I have had mine for about 2 years. However, I have only used it 5 times. Now it sounds like garbage when its not plugged into power source. They will now replace because its out of warranty. I paid 350 for the speaker through Sprint i know way too much. If you do the math I paid 70 per usage time. Thats crazy. They did, however, offer me 30 off of a new speaker…….haha why would I ever buy this again. No thanks…..dont waste your money or time.

This unit probably has the best sound for the size that Ive seen. Great clarity and bass. But, theres one big problem with the Onyx Studio 4. The battery is terrible. I know this for a fact because I have 2 units. And both have failed me with the battery on both. When plugged up to an outlet, theres absolutely no problems but within a year expect the battery to fail when youre on the go. Without power the unit will probably run for about 5 minutes… yes 5 minutes. So if youre going to the beach or on an outing, forget it and leave it hooked up at home because this unit will not hold a charge.

I have 2 of these they sound great when in stereo mode, thats the problem the app is the worst app ever for so many reasons 2 biggest issue is pairing is always a adventure no matter what divce I use for 2 years now I often go to my little Sony xb20s because I dont have time to deal with the HK app, WHY LOCATION JUST TO TURN IT OFF And HK has the worst public relations, I have seen numerous others with the same complaints about the app requesting a updatefix.. HK never in all that time responds to this ISSUE. Thus company has gone down hill in the last 10 years and way overpriced for OK speakers to be having app issues like this.. Ask SONY for help and fire your existing app developer…

Ive had my studio 4 since 2018. Only used when im outdoors in yard working on house, in the garage while working. Battery will only last about 45 min hour yes, after a full charge 6hr min. Id like to get another, but scared of battery issue for that price.

I used to own an Onyx 3, which i loved. The 6 is better as Id expect. Its just a well built amazing sounding bluetooth speaker. You can get one for 50. Plastic, So so sound, that will be long gone in a couple months, or you can go With a brand like HK, with a metal housing, room filling sound, water resistant, that will last for years…its up to you

I love this thing. I cant believe that speaker the size can put out that kind of sound. Its not like the day shakes the walls or anything, you can definitely hear low frequencies, and thats saying something. Great value.

I bought it less than two months ago. The first couple of days it worked great. Then it suddenly wouldnt stay connected while play music off my Macbook Pro. My air pods stay connected to it just fine. Ive tried everything I know of and recommended on the inet I could find. The guide that came with it isnt very helpful at all. The sound quality is great and I want to like. I need it. But I purchased it specifically to play music off my Macbook and iPhone iTunes libraries and Im very weary of wrestling with it to try and get it working every time I need to use it. Ive had it too many days to take it back to the retailer where I bought it or I would be on my way there now. I WANT MY MONEY BACK so I can purchase something else that works.

Bought this during Black Friday as a second HK Onyx for the house. My original one is an Onyx 2 … this 4 has more depth and brighter mids. The bass is as good as the 2. The industry design is sleeker and more appleesque. Cant wait to get an Onyx 6 at 100 soon.

I bought this for one thing only…to lay in bed or hang out on the sofa while watchinglistening to stuff usually You Tube music vids on my iPad Air which has a pretty crummy speaker in it. Obviously, I wanted wireless capability 1st and foremost with portability a secondary consideration. Good sound, ease of operation, good looks and ruggedness would be icing on the cake. I powered it up 24 hours ago and could not be more pleased. Great sound, huge volume and paired quickly without a bunch of drama to my device once I figured out how to do this…Im a techno Luddite. Obviously too early to report on battery life, ruggedness, etc but so far, Im thrilled with this purchase. My only complaint is HK could have included at least SOME call it Device Pairing 101 documentation for us Luddites. Eventually, I found what I needed on the HK site but it was REALLY buried

This is the second one of these HK onyx studio 4s that I have purchased. The sound quality is amazing and the sleek look makes it easy to leave out without being an eyesore. I bought the HK onyx 5 and in my opinion the 4 sounds much better. Battery life is decent for how powerful the speaker is. Only downside is when you connect more than one together for the surround effect they tend to have static and cut out. Other than that I love these speakers.

Quite confused as to why Harman Kardon would make it so that you could not pair the Harman Kardon Studio 4 to the Harmon Kardon Studio 3. Its actually Quite sad that after searching online for about an hour and then finally calling customer support where the gentleman who answered told me out right that because it is a new feature that they would disable backwards compatibility even though my studio 3 is less than seven months old. This seems like a major flaw considering i bought the Studio 4 so that i could expand my collection in the hopes of pairing them together to give me a great home listening experience. I work a geek squad agent and am thoroughly astounded at how this would be over looked hence me searching for an answer because i thought there is no way this couldnt be possible.Well after recommending this speaker to every customer i have encountered i will have to rethink that because how can i sell someone a speaker that might become obsolete to its newer generation model in less than six months. This falls in right in line with apples policy of forcing you to upgrade to new products as soon as the new model comes out. Overall the speaker quality is amazing and the bass adn low fanominal, even the high are sharp. I would say this a speaker with great potential but held back by its flaws with compatibility.

I bought a speaker on cyber Monday for a great price. Unfortunately, I was sent a speaker with marks on it clearly used. Company offered a future coupon or the option to wait 3 weeks for a return but no discount on the current purchase. One would expect higher customer service from this type of company.

The speaker works fantastically for anything other than auxiliary connection. When plugging an audio source directly into the speakers aux port, the audio cuts out intermittently. It seems as though its cutting out low amplitude signals, like a limiter, but its also very random and often cuts out high amplitude signals as well. Completely unusable as a wired speaker.Also, without any sort of bluetooth security, anyone nearby can freely connect to this speaker at their own will. I once was unable to connect a device via the aux port due to a neighbor incessantly connecting to the speaker via bluetooth.

I love the bassy and punchy sound of this speaker. As someone who prefers a more bass heavy listening experience this speaker was perfect. A little lacking in the high end range of the audio band , but well worth it for the low end performance.

Having done lots of reviews, I plumped for the Onyx 4. I do not regret my purchase. The speaker produces a richness I have not heard before in a bluetooth speaker. Bass is deep, mids are clear, and treble is pretty crisp. It loses one star however because nothing is perfect. The bass seems just slightly lacking at lowest frequency, and the treble is not as absolutely sharp as I would like, however, these are ultra picky points because the sound generated is lovely at this price level.

Update After 8 months of having a pair of Onix 4s I am even more delighted than I was when I bought first one If you plan to buy a home hifi without breaking a bank, my advice is to buy these. Position them as far away from the wall to reduce not so controlled bass, remove the grills to gain 1db in hf range, use app to pair them in stereo mode for soundstage, tilt them like studio monitors for imaging and keep those tweeters at ear level for detailed sound… You wont believe what sound quality these bt speakers can produce. Now at 360 USD for a pair in Europe, I cant find anything even close… Pure madness

Bought this over Black Friday 2020. After reviewing other brands and Onyx Studio lines, Im so glad I bought this It has a slick, modern design w easy setup. I love the builtin microphone during athome work conference calls.I also use the speaker for online, phone listening to Podcasts music. I dont crank up the volume too much so I havent tested the quality sound boundaries.I connectively gets sketchy as times, but, dont all of our devices get that way sometimesOverall, quite satisfied w this purchase.

Dont be fooled by the size the Onyx Studio delivers deep, rich sound with impressive bass from such a small speaker If you have a pair, you can sync them for stereo sound. I arated it 4 stars because there is no battery life indicator, so it dies without warning when low and not connected to the charger.

Best speaker Ive ever seen in my life. The loudest, perfect bass, can connect 2 devices which comes in handy with friends over. Can definitely use to an entire event sound system if needed. Only downside is its huge so cant really bring anywhere.

i just got 2 of these speakers, first let me say the sound is awesome and I love them. Now here is the bad part. YOUR APP sucks HK Connect needs to be redone, after installing it, all it does is discovering I have connected the speakers to the wifi on my phone and can play music. Mind you that the stereo mode works likes this. the first speaker stays connected but the second speaker loses connection at the start of every song, sometimes it comes back and some times I have to restart the stereo connection, I hope you fix your app soon, my wife has threaten to take them back. Please fix it quick or you will lose a happy cust, but not wife

The speaker is absolutely amazing. I have owned several Bluetooth speakers that were both portable and in home. This one is both. I cant gauge how well it would work in a Room with high ceilings but in my standard 8 ceiling house its absolutely perfect. A friend of mine has a Bose Bluetooth speaker that costs 3 times as much and it is close but still nowhere near as crisp and clear as the speaker. If you can pick this up for around a 100 or so it is more than worth it. It sounds as good as an entire stereo system and if you want to you can pair up to a 100 of these speakers together and give you the most incredible sound quality you will ever have in your home. Now I cant attest to the longevity of the battery because Ive only been listening to it for about an hour but I find it hard to believe that Harman kardon with as much prestige behind their name would invent something that doesnt live up to its claim. As I mentioned earlier it is way cheaper then a Bose speaker and always will be because Bose never puts any of their speakers on sale ever. If you dont have the speaker already you need to go buy one you will not be sorry wherever you live it comes with an adapter to fit your specific region of the world

I own both the Bose Soundlink and a Bose Revolve.Both great products. The HKOS 4 will blow you away Sound is clear and bass is amazing. Even at higher levels it does not distort. Battery life is excellent. It is large 11 in diameter. We use outside for cookouts and our guests just cant believe that much sound is coming from one speaker. Very satisfied and highly recommend.

I bought for the great sound my son has an Studio 1 or 2. I bought twostudio 4s with the intent of epic stereo sound. I had much trouble with the app required for stereo sound. Ive reset both speakers hold plus and bluetooth till it turns off and was finally able to use stereo from the app. I dont know why this worked it was a last ditch effort before sending one of the two speakers for return. If the appp keeps working Ill be very happy with my purchases otherwise only one speaker is needed.

Ive had my hk onyx studio 4 for almost a year now. The crispquality sound never gets old, but recently I experienced multiple occurrences when the speaker randomly goes stupid. The audio cuts and skips, making any music lovers ears bleed and the only solution is to let it play and it eventually goes back to normal for a bit. its actually happening more and more now, and while writing this review it went off 3 times. And thats when I changed my rating from 3 stars to 2.

Ive become a Bluetooth speaker junkie and these are wonderful in all areas, execpt two the app to connect stereo mode is a test of patience..plan a extra 15 minutes out of your day ,never seems consistent no matter what divice Im pairing with and more than half the time the app just keeps closing.. I also wish they had Auto shutoff after a certain amount of time like my Onyx minis do . But other than that the best for home use, get 2,put in stereo mode eventually, keep them plugged in for extra ummpphh and enjoy ….

I had the original onyx and was expecting this onyx studio 6 to be better Not have lower bass, lower volume, and less crisp sound then the original. The only better thing about this speaker is that it had a wide base stand instead of the fragile now broken pegs of the onyx 1.

Best portable speaker Ive ever owned. I bought at Best Buy while on sale. This was my first purchase of any kind of a portable Bluetooth speaker and I know I made the right choice. First time owner of anything HarmonKardon. I recommend this speaker to anyone looking for amazing sound that is comparable to more expensive similar brands like Bose. It just has the crisp clarity, BASS as well and very loud Battery life could be better but I always leave mine plugged into outlet so that its ready when I need to take it with me somewhere.

I bought a pair refurbished, and I couldnt be happier The price was right and I cant tell the difference. The speakers sound phenomenal, easily crushing the sound from my BIG Jambox. They BT connect easily and pair up no problem.The App sucks, and although stereo works, it is voodoo on why and when it works, nonintuitive and random. It also mostly makes me mad that the app requires location to operate. Stop frustrating your customers with nonsense. If this HK dumped the app people would have a higher opinion of the speaker.

Let me start by saying from a sound quality perspective, these speakers are nothing short of exceptional. I bought two 2 Onyx 3 speakers in 2017 after our son had purchased one for his apartment as we heard how great it sounded. Nearly a year into ownership, they started not keeping a charge. Not a total loss to me, as most of the time we are somewhere we can have them plugged in. However, considering how new they were, I contacted HK, and they arranged to check them out. I shipped them in, they tested them, and found the batteries were faulty. They arranged for them to be replaced with Onyx 4s as there were no 3s available. Quite frankly, would have been happy to just have batteries replace so they held a charge. None the less, got my new Onyx 4s. They worked great. Same great sound quality with a new convenient linking feature, even though the 3s linked as well. One year later, one of them has a buzzing sound. Hard to explain, but needless to say, nothing makes it go away and it sounds terrible. I contacted customer service and their response was as follows. Since they were replacements for warranty issue on a previous speaker, they dont get warranty related to their delivery date. Their warranty is related to the old speaker purchase date. They will give me a 10 coupon to buy another one. Ummmmm lets see. Ive had four 4 of these speakers and three 3 of them have had an issue and you want me to buy another. No. Keep your 10 coupon. I also have three 3 other HK products Headphones, Computer Speakers, AVR and when they need replacement, theyll be with a different brand. Like I said…. they sound freaking great, but great sound cant outweigh poor quality and even more so, poor customer service.

For the MSRP they ask i was expecting a bit more of a premium product, the sound is just that of course, but the overall functionality has had me wondering if i flushed a few hundred bucks down the drain…For examplethe first day out of the box after a full charge, while i had two speakers connected, one began to distort and make a terrible screeching noise, which is both concerning and dissapointing. It has done it intermittently since then… also while with a near full charge..Oh, which brings me to my next point, the battery life is a claimed 8hrs, Im pulling closer to 6 on a full charge at 2 notches below maximum volume on the speakers themselves, and one notch below max on whichever device is connected. And on the final note of connection once a device is paired, that device can connect at any time, even if another phone or device is connected and playing music. Which I find very silly when someone I once let connect hijacks my musicAll in all the sound quality is as expected, but product functionality seems to fall short to my experience thus far.

DOES NOT PAIR with STUDIO 3. Fine product as standalone but dont try and pair it with a Studio 3 for party mode sound. Bass is slightly better with Studio 3 but it sounds quite similar otherwise.

In Europe is priced at 200 euros and its hard to find anything better in that price range. Balancing it with some eq is a must, otherwise bass is way too overwhelming, mids are recessed and highs are not well pronounced… But when you play with it for a few days, man it shines Nice sound stage, punchy bass, good mids, solid highs and even some stereo separation… Planing to buy another one these days. The sound of these speakers are very good but the set up was a problem from the start. After receiving them I had trouble pairing and getting them in stereo mode.I talked with several techs on the phone ad they were giving me incorrect instructions to pair. Finally the last gentleman I talked to was more knowledgeable about the set up. As far as putting them in stereo mode that is my other problem. The H Connnect App does not work well. It takes several attempts to get them in stereo mode and this has to be done every time I use the speakers. Also the speakers have to be paired every time you use them. I keep them apart to play but have to put them together each time to pair.

Have recently purchased and have placed in Living Room. Wood floors and furniture combine to make sound from HK speakers perform brilliantly. Highs are crisp, midtones are clear and bass resonates for a sound I was not expecting to enjoy as much as I do.

The sound the Onyx 4 puts out is amazing. Very deep and rich bass. Clean crisp highs. I have been a fan since the Onyx 2. But the Onyx 4 seems twice the speaker. Maybe even three times more. No bluetooth portable speaker. As far as I have own. Even comes close. Honesty I use the Onyx more than my high priced home system. I give 100 out of 100. You nailed it thanks. I definitely want another one. So I can link them. Thanks for the wonderful product.

I bought this refurbished about 20 days ago and the sound quality, especially the bass is excellent. However, it keeps skipping within songs and this is very unusual. Resetting and pairing iPhone and iPad did not resolve this. Returning before the 30 days return deadline

Big sound from a small device. Any reviews that hate on the size and mock its portability are misleading you. If youre getting a wireless speaker, just get this one. Everything else sounds small and weak for the same price.

I bought this so I can take zoom and teams calls hands free. Alas, no use. All the suggestions to pump up the volume on my computer and control the hk master volumes are useless. It does not work.

Always skeptical with used products but this one proved to be a good purchase. Excellent condition. Only issue so far is that it did not have a USA plug. Nor did it have the adapter. I luckily had one so I could test it out. Ill need to spend a little to get another adapter since I borrowed it from a hard drive.

I love the sound quality of the Onyx series. And the Studio 4 is true to that legacy. Deep base, but the highs and mids are still very crisp and clear. The Studio 4s now have stereo or party mode when paired with another Studio 4. The Studio 4s really fill a room. The new app is pretty good too. It doesnt have and EQ, but it controls the stereo and party mode nicely. The Battery life is better too. For in home use or on a patio they are great. But the downside is that they are a little larger than other Bluetooth speakers, not water resistant and charges with a larger power brick and not USB. So they are less travel friendly.With the new HK connect features and longer battery life the Studio 4 is a solid choice in the market of higher end home type portable Bluetooth speakers.If I were looking for a beach or camping speaker Id probably look elsewhere. Or I needed just one speaker to serve all purposes, Id probably look elsewhere.As an added note, the Studio 4 does have the 3.5mm input jack in the back. And they not backwards compatible with the Studio 3 or the Onyx Mini for wireless connectivity.

I have two and for some reason ordered a third. The speakers worked great, at first, no the sound clicks in and out, and theres static. When connecting the two together, one plays, the other goes out. Im soooo hoping there is a product fix for this. I really enjoy the convenience of being able to pack these up in my car for my fitness classes, which is why I wanted the third. This is a finical investment that I hope is a smart move.

Its currently blasting my music whilst I write this review.It is the speaker Ive had the longest, and Ive had a large amount of speakers…it might have been a little pricey, but on sale now its definitely worth it.The sound is clear, crisp and you can hear the hit of every instrument. Bass is balanced and well tuned. I have never been disappointed with this speaker, and havent even been able to find a replacement should I need one.Overall, I highly recommend the HK Onyx 4, honestly at the prices its at now, I probably will buy another one.

Brand new to about a year worth of daily use, HK OS4 was my ideal portable wireless speaker to hear HipHop, Rap, and action movies with explosions due to its clear a full theater sound will deep rumbling subwoofer bass, which I prefered over the Bose portable speaker of the same size and cost class. I was able to squeeze 2HK OS4 on top of each other in a light plastic like REI sackpack that was durable enough, yet did not drastically muffle their sound output as a backpack would. If the legs were removable it would of been ideal with using them in a sack pack worn and would not have the legs poking you in your back. With HK connect feature on it sounded like I had an upgraded car audio speakers coming from my sack pack I was wearing where ever I went. For the 1st year their fully charged battery could play about 45hrs at max volume. At about the 1 year mark their fully charged battery life drastically reduces to 23hrs of play at max volume, which has been the most disappointing flaw of HK OS4. You start of with the jams poolside, bbq, beachside, etc., and peeps vibe good with it the first hour or two…then the batteries are drained and the kool tunes and vibes have to come to an early end and will take another 5 more hours of charging just to get another disapointing full portable wireless use it for a short 23 hours at full volume teasing everyone again. If HK OS4 batteries were not built in and unremovable, the jams going at full portable mode could be kept going by just swapping out the drained battery with a fully charged one. At about a year worth of daily to weekly use, their portable mode value is drastically reduced to lowest and they then serve better as home audio that can be kept plugged in. HK OS4 was not worth 300 when they first came out a couple years ago, but are worth it now of their 190 cost.

I bought my son a newer version than the one I own. Mine you cant hold a conversation while connected to speaker and it wont charge. So once I unplug it the power shuts off. But, while its plugged the sound is awesome.

Im genuinely shocked at how nicely this speaker plays a variety of music. Having only used the Bluetooth function, I cant speak to direct connection via aux cable, but Bluetooth is impressive enough. Stumbling upon this speaker on sale when I did just before a camping trip was awesome. Battery life and portability have proven to be just as good as the audio quality. A great purchase.

I purchased six of these speakers at Christmas. Four were gifts, and I kept two to get stereo sound. I have a Onyx1 weve hade for three years. I love them all. I wish they would sync together a little more seamless. My only real complaint is I wish there was a good way to see when the battery is low. I have downloaded the HK app, but is really not that good. I would have otherwise rated them at a 5. Maybe they will come out with a better version on the app.Mike

Nothing amazing to this speaker. There isnt any distortion but there is a harshness to the sound. I guess i was expecting a more pleasant sounding speaker considering the name and price. Maybe its because it is bluetooth……Im not sure….but i am underwhelmed.

Purchased my speaker at Sprint and Im not sure if Sprint got a bad batch but Ive had FOUR of this same model and they literally dont work I havent had a full charge on this latest one EVER. I subscribe to multiple music services so a nice speaker is a necessity and this latest speaker doesnt want to play music from a particular subscription service. Thought Id go with this brand since its factory installed in my car and wish Id made a different choice. Sound is excellent but quality is very poor. Beyond disappointed

I like to listen my music with bass, that ectra kick is what i love but in order to enjoy that you need big bulky equipment.. But this speaker gives you just that in a small speaker. Very loud, crystal clear mids and the bass awesome. Very impressed with the sound it produces, i was hesitant because of the price 129 but now that i have it is worth it no doubt. I listen my music and i enjoy it, so rich and crispy the living room gets filled with sound and you dont feel is struggling to produce it. So impressed with my Onyx the best i ever heard for its size. It will beat any other speaker even much bigger ones with is capcity to produce nice sound and the bass.. Just waow

I already owned one of these speakers but by combining two the sound is more balanced. I have a number of portable speakers but find the overall sound and especially depth of bass make this the best. Combined with chrome audio I can get higher level broadcasting than the Bluetooth and I am not let down by the increased sound quality. The link button on the speaker ensures that they are in sync and works far better than the HK app

Great audio quality, but poor Bluetooth connectivity.This speaker just support SBC Bluetooth codec, does not support any high quality codecs.To get battery level on android or apple, you must install HK app, share location, and wait 10 seconds for it to sync, because it creates a separate LE connection for just that. Can you please fix that Either implement HFP1.7, or the Apple Bluetooth Headset Battery Level Indication. If you cant do that, at least use standard LE Battery Service rather than custom notification.Please fix the battery level in next firmware update.

I have try 4 different BT speakers before deciding on this Onyx Studio 4. Connecting to BT is a bit difficult. The recommended app does nothing. I ended up using the phone BT connection function in settings. Once it is connected, upon hearing the first note being played using Grover Washingtons Just the two of us, I was blown away by how clean the sound was deep bass, clear midrange. Have purchased several HK speakers over the years. Sound quality, great. Value, great. This purchase was for 3 of the onyx speakers. With the intent of connecting all together for television watching. This proved cumbersome. We finally got it to work by having the TV read the speakers as 1 device. Only remaining issue is the daily startup. Sometimes they all come on. Sometimes they do not. We then have to push buttons until connection reestablished. No real order to button pushing . Once they are firing extremely happy with results.

After researching the top blue tooth speakers, I decided to purchase the Onyx4. It suits my needs perfect. Super elegant, easy to set up and absolutely stunning sound. I adjusted my Eq on my phone to my preference and it sounds velvety smooth, deep bass, crisp highs. Does not distort at full volume. I dont need anything that is waterproof or to turn on my lights. This is to me, the next best thing to a 2 channel audiophile system, but for just a couple hundred bucks. These sell for less, but there seems to be a catch, such as other new or refurbished. You will not regret this purchase, unless of course you like to swim or kick dust on your fine audio equipment.

The speakers are great. But they had bad connection when link. They also have problems listening. The come in and out. I made sure that there were no other bluetooth devices on. But still alot of interference. But when they are connected with no interference, they sound GREAT The HK app is lousy. You need to upgrade it or the firmware. Thats the reason why I give it 5 stars. Actually I was going to go down to 4 stars because of interference, connection and the speakets going in and out. Its a big problem when listening to music and they go in and out. Please solve this problem and let me know if I can download an updated firmware or something.

Ive owned the original onyx studio for about 5 or 6 years and last year we upgraded to the studio 4 version. When I saw this come on sale a few weeks ago, I jumped on it. Great sound, and the ability to the daisychain the two studio 4s either as speakers that mirror each other or as a stereo pair is absolutely awesome. It is a bit clumsy to have to go into the app every time to set it up, but the resultant sound is so worth it. Love these speakers

I saw this speaker on sale and grabbed it. I have been using a small one on my deck and when I travel to play tunes from my phone. It blows away the smaller one I had been using, but isnt portable for hotel travel, etc. Well, it is but not really practical based on size and weight. It sounds excellent and gets pretty loud. Looks good too. The only reason I gave it 4 versus 5 stars is that I wish it went a little louder. I had heard and read great things so expected my socks to be knocked off, and that didnt happen. For the money, however, its a really good and crisp sounding speaker. Excellent value.

I bought this a year ago. It would sync rather well and the sound was perfection. It would occasionally cut me off, but nothing crazy. About 2 months ago, I unplugged it from the wall to use it in another room I dont think Id ever done that before and it stopped playing. Now it will not turn on… unless I plug the Service port into my laptop, which reminds it is capable of functioning. I am then able to turn it on via the wall plug once and it plays music for 2030mins. Then it cuts off and I have to threaten it again via service port laptop. That is not a reasonable amount of extra work.I paid about 200 and it worked for less than a year. Thats ridiculous.

Unfortunately it locks up my youtube feed on my pc in bluetooth mode, so i bought a male to male cord and pluged it directly in and it works perfectly. I bought this on sale for about a third of the price, and I think the most Id have paid for it was half price.Now I want to make sure Im clear, if youre looking for a portable Bluetooth speaker then this cant be beat. It has superior sound quality and base that is second to none.However, there are a few problems.First the price. This speaker simply isnt worth the 450 price tag. Secondly, and I understand this exists to save power, but the fact that speaker output is halved when not plugged into power is incredibly dumb. As someone that will be mainly using this as a portable speaker Id like to be able to chose that for myself.The last part is the app, it just isnt refined enough to actually be useful when using the speaker. It doesnt display volume level or an actual battery percentage. This makes the app pointless other than renaming your speaker, which most phones can do on their own.

First, let me say, this is a good speaker with great overall sound including bass and low tones. However, my issue was that this was going to replace my JBL speaker that had extreme volume and bass RIP, and I already own the Harman Kardon studio 5 but I want teleconference on the speaker, too. When compared to the two, this studio 4 has lackluster bass and volume, which was a huge disappointment. Its also larger than I had anticipated for the spaces where I was already using the JBL speaker. Therefore, based on these two things I had to lower my expectations, and I decided to keep it because its still an okay speaker with teleconference for its intended use.

Yes, there are NOW Bluetooth speakers that have much longer battery life. And this one isnt super transparent in terms of mid and high frequency details e.g., acoustic instruments. But it does produce some pretty daunting bass mine can actually play a 10 Hz sine wave, and at a price of around USD100, it provides good value for money. It will easily fill a small to midsize room with music, and as long as you dont try pushing it to its upper volume level range, it will do so with little strain.

The bass really hits like bass should, the mesh screen is actually removable and I personally find the device to sound and not to mention look sooo much better without the screen as the high notes are much more pronounced and the sound carries much further. I bought 2 of these. One sounds spectacular, specifically compared to other bluetooth speakers. But with two, you can set up stereo mode on both ends of a room and get high quality, full filling sound all around you. Its hard to describe but its pretty cool. I like that you can connect via wire for when I watch movies on my desktop. Its portable enough where I regularly take it to the kitchen to listen to music or YouTube videos. its portable enough where i have taken to house get togethers.

I just purchased the artist studio 2 speaker back on February 2016. when I first connected to speaker up what the quality of sound. after about a yearandahalf I noticed there was a distorted sound coming from the speakers. after removing the cover and listening I noticed one of the midrange speakers with blown. After contacting one of the technical Representatives I was told that this speaker was not designed to be played at high volume for a long period of time. I wish I would have known that before I made the purchase of 499. Hopefully they corrected the problem with the Onyx Studio 4

Purpose for purchasing Onyx 4 was to pair it with other speaker and it keeps going out Pairing only last 1525 min before one speaker turns off and they are both plugged into a power supply meaning they are not dead. I keep having to reconnect and that process takes 25min max. Ive bought more than one version of this speaker and Im not sold. Sound is great though. I only bought 2 at same to pair and it doesnt work

Our music uses a lot of drumming. we got the blue and it is dreamy. Its even better than the pics. Pairing them as a stereo set is basically a 20 40 minute adventure EVERY SINGLE TIME…never pairs on the first try and you have to go through every single aspect of pairing for example turn off bluetooth rerecognize speakers hit the pair button, etc. Its not worth my time. They will go back this weekend. The WHOLE point of having a great set of bluetooth speakers is mobility and to be able to enjoy them with ease. These offer me neither unless there is a magical fix.

We already have an Onyx 3 at home. It sounds very well, so we decided to buy one more. We cant found an Onyx 3, so we bought a new Onyx 4, because it was the current newest version, and in the box it says that can connect with other Onyx units.In my 38 years of experience as a systems engineer, I knew that backwards compatibility with immediately anterior product versions is a must. You didnt do that. Thats basics, dudes And its not a tech limitation, it is a design decision.Those decisions speaks very badly about any brand you want to sell new products, you dont want support customer satisfaction. Its even worse, because if you want, you can solve this very annoying issue with just a user firmware upgrade. I am waiting for it. Thanks.

Breaking down each sound the Bass is deep and rich you can feel the punch at high volume without loosing quality bass totally with zero distortion, the high and medium sound frequencies are clear melting perfectly with the deep bass enough for not to reduce absolutely the low bass, Sound on tweeters and low deep bass on Onyx 4 are more sophisticated than the onyx 6 which surprised me because I returned the onyx 6 and got 2 more onyx 4 studio, and I think Harman Kardon can do even better on onyx 4 studio sound and release a better version of it, but for now Im just satisfied with these onyx 4 studio putting together to work with the app which helps to communicate each other to sound all at the same time, I didnt know that having several onyx 4 studio in my room makes me listen different sounds on the background that I didnt hear before even in the same songs I already know, wow Its impressive, so Im glad that I did return the onyx 6 and got several onyx 4 studio due to an exhausted comparison between both breaking down and listening to them separately with different songs, repeating, listening and repeating again and at the end the Onyx Studio 4 won the battle, maybe Harman Kardon needs to look back on the Passive speakers on the back of all onyx studio which really helps to bring more sophisticated sound than the onyx 5 or onyx 6 which doesnt have any passive speaker, but for now if you have a good ear listening music and matters a rich bass and good tweeters, the Onyx Studio 4 at this moment is the best option.

Ive owned about a dozen bluetooth speakers now, and this is easily the best one yet. Most speakers, you can hear the bass but you cant feel it. With the Onyx 4 you can feel the kick drum. The trebles are also very tight and crisp and theres exceptional separation between the different frequencies.The speaker is a tad bass heavy, perhaps, but I just use the EQ on my mac to soften it a bit. Speakers will sound different in different rooms anyway.Its a speaker thats best suited to home use and occasionally taking out the home, potentially. I have owned several of these units, starting with Studio 2, 3 and now 4. Each generation feature incredible sound quality, with clear highs and surprising lows given the modest size. HARMAN has really made the sound sound great. Now that the 3 and 4 can be connected together, this offers an amazing and enveloping experience where you and place speakers in different rooms, but have the audio synced such that you dont have to turn up or down the unit or move it from place to place. However, if you do want to use it as a portable, the built in battery makes it super convenient.

This HK Bluetooth Speaker is one I have been watching for 3 years after seeing it in a local Sprint store. Price was 350 and now around 125. Love the punch this delivers. I feel it sounds better than the Bose series due to the way it delivers a little bit nicer mid range to compliment the crisp highs and deep lows. Price, Value, and Quality is spot on. I would compare the sound quality closer to the Klipsch Pro media 2.1 system. My reason for using HK over Klipsch is the Pro media 2.1 Sub Amp continues to fail every 2 years and Im tired of its constant repair costs. Also love that the HK is portable for all events and can be paired with another. HK Onyx 4 on up are all great speakers, the 4 is just my preference in design. Either way this jewel will fill a room with awesome sound quality.

I didnt think the sound quality could get any better but I was wrong I like the new features too like being able to connect more than one speaker, being able to unplug the power adapter and the speaker continues to play. The sound is better too on battery power. The original dropped down quite a bit when not plugged in. The 4 does this too but not nearly as much. If this thing was made by Bose it would cost over 500 on a black Friday deal It blows any of the Bose Bluetooth speakers away and I know because Ive had a few of them. It will rattle your windows Very good speaker Harman Kardon makes very good products that are priced much better than the overpriced Bose stuff.

Look a little dirty so I feel like it may be refurbished or something. I couldve brought this off of amazon for cheaper. Ive had this speaker for about 6 or 7 months now, and the sound quality still continues to amaze me. This speaker is a great bang for the buck It has incredibly deep and rich bass that hits right where it should, unlike some Bluetooth speakers where it falls just short, leaving a lot to be desired. The Bluetooth connectivity is standard, I can walk about 50 feet away before it starts cutting in and out. It has clear and crisp audio with amazing bass that somehow doesnt distort the audio even at full volume. It gets very loud and easily drowns out background noise, and it gets even louder when its plugged in. Its very user friendly with its simple design and self explanatory controls. Its a lot more powerful than a lot of speakers delivering 30 watts of power on battery and a whopping 60 watts when its plugged in. That means youll get deeper bass and a lot louder audio when plugged in. It has 4 speakers 2 3in woofers and 2 tweeters along with 2 passive radiators to deliver even more bass. It also has a mic that works pretty well. Now that Ive gone through all the many pros of this speaker, well get into the reason Im only giving it 4 stars. First of all its battery… kinda sucks. It lasts probably 23 hours on a full charge at max volume. Next when plugged in, bassy songs kinda make the passive radiator on the back do something where it makes a rattle. I dont know what it is, but it sounds like its hitting something inside the speaker, however it hasnt caused any damage so thats kind of minor issue. This problem next problem is kind of a major one. When plugged in, at max volume, the speaker will just randomly turn off with no warning. I think it has to do with it being over powered so it just turns off to protect itself, but it only happens with particularly loud songs. Next, it is pretty portable but the legs on the back are not detachable, which makes it a pain in the butt to pack into a bag or suit case. This speaker also has no sort of water resistance rating. Last, there is a noticeable audio delay with using Bluetooth. In conclusion, dont let these drawbacks stop you from buying this wonderful speaker. If you bring the charger with you, you probably wont have a problem with it. It has excellent bass and clear loud audio and will last you a long time.

While this seller claims that this was cleaned and refurbished, it was dirty on the speaker cover and had thick sticker residues on the back. Also, you gotta read the small print, because it doesnt come with the power cord. Seeing as how the seller has a few of these, I can only assume they are selling the speaker and cords separately. The only upside is that the power cord has a fairly generic port that accepts my Sony radio power cord.

Ive had this for at least 4 years. Its a permanent fixture in my house connected to Alexa via bluetooth. It doesnt hold a charge anymore but thats fine since its always in the same spot and plugged in. It held its charge fine in the beginning of its life.

We bought this speaker about a year and a half ago. Cant say enough about the sound quality It plays a richer sound when plugged in therefore not in battery saver mode, so we always kept it plugged in. But now when we do want to unplug it to use in certain situations with no power, the battery only lasts about 1015 min. Very frustrating, as I wouldnt consider it long enough into its life to be having problems like this. And the warranty is only 1 year..

When we saw the newest Onyx Studio 4, we knew we had to get two so we could have our music playing throughout the house without having to crank the volume too much. Unfortunately, these speakers are not designed to live in a smart home with multiple items connected via Bluetooth and WiFi. If we are listening to just one speaker, the sound quality is amazing as one would expect. When we pair the two together, our music just skips constantly. Its the most frustrating thing EVER My husband is heartbroken he used to build car radios for Harman Kardon, so hes the biggest advocate for their technology out there. Even he cant justify the expenses incurred for two speakers when they cant function together as advertised.Im honestly not even sure if well be keeping both speakers if we cant find an answer to the skipping when paired together, as the sound quality is not that much superior to the original Onyx.

I bought two of these speakers from Best Buy because I thought I could pair these in stereo mode with the connect App. Let me tell you something, this app is useless. The speakers will only stayed paired in party mode and they dont stayed paired for very long. The speakers sound nice but the useless app has ruined them. I have two JBL extreme speakers that play perfect in the stereo mode with the JBL connect app. Same company but completely different results.

If you want a portable speaker that youll have to keep plugging in, this is the one for you. 8 hours of battery life is impossible in a party setting. You need to have the volume super low to get anywhere near that, and at that point, whats the purpose If youre going to buy this, just know that you will never get good battery life out of it unless you want to listen at very low volumes. There are much better options out there for way less of a price point and sound just as good. The Aomais Go is a great example. 30w just like this speaker, water proof, rugged, good design, dual pairing, and a 7200 mAh battery as apposed to the 3000 that this speaker has. My advice, only buy this if you plan on making it an indoor speaker, or dont need something that will last long.

This Wireless Speaker has incredible sound quality with excellent depth and no distortion, even at higher volumes. It does have some weight to it and it is larger than your average Bluetooth speaker. That and the fact theres no water resistance will limit where you can take it. Also keep in mind that the sound is slightly limited unless plugged in and expect about 5 to 7 hours of charge.

It was a backorder that took two months to arrive by a slow boat from China literally but it was worth it. Customer service was excellent in getting me details when it would finally arrive. Unfortunately, they pulled the money from my account early twice but would return it. Arrived. Sound is excellent, as expected. Larger than you might expect, and with heft. I wish they used a nonproprietary power adapter such as a USBC but it probably draws too much juice. Excellent battery life with 8 hours. You will love it if you can get it without waiting for two months.

I am disappointed of this product. I bought 3 months ago 2 Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 4 speakers. Sound is very good and clear, but the main problem is Bluetooth connection. For example, I connect my iPhone to speakers and listening music from my playlist, then if I change it to YouTube, one speaker disconnects, or if I watch some videos on Facebook, sometimes there is no connection on both speakers and I must reconnect. It is so disturbing Also when I connect to the computer via cable, there is a lot of bugs music sometimes plays and sometimes not. I bought because of sound quality and that there is possibility to connect more than one speaker. But in fact if I would have an opportunity to test it for one week, probably I would not bought it. Do not recommend for one reason connection problems more than one speaker connection. I give 3 stars only for sound quality. Harman Kardon, I am really disappointed… Such company like yours really should think about these crucial things in depth… My opinion…

Got this on a nice little promo. Does pretty well at filling a small room. Pretty crispy highs. I believe you should adjust the bass from your streaming device as the louder it gets, the more the bass gets sightly too much.Naturally Over all I love it.The biggest flaw I could find was that most times I disconnect my phone and the speaker wouldnt automatically power off. Resulting in the next time I turn it on for use, its dead.I was told that after 30 minutes it should automatically shut down. I bought two speakers to connect them together and play music and video audio they them in stereo mode. The problem isnt the sound, they sound great.The problem is the setup is glitchy.One speaker goes to sleep in the middle of a playlist while its plugged into the wall. The other has static the entire time its playing as well as a choppy connection.The HK app offers no updates and there is no HK app for the Apple TV to connect them as stereo speakers.Over all very poor for a 450 product.

One of the things that I like about it is the power cord connection. Its not the mini usb its the barrel type connection. Old school. The new ones break if you plug them in upside down or force it in. Im very happy with my purchases of the HK Onyx studio.

But, after 5 months of sitting in my room doing its job, the speaker refuses to charge both usb and charging port. Im very disappointed as 200 isnt very cheap.

Ive had Harmon kardon products in the past and have been very happy with them .. I cant say this about the onyx 4 .I had visited a friend and she had an older version and it sounded amazing crisp and rich… So I ordered one directly from harmon kardon it came quickly I was actually excited its well made and looks great but I was quickly disappointed with the sound.. it was nothing like my friends I tried fine tuning it which is limited to begin with it sounded horrible… I have jobsite speakers from home Depot that were 30 and have far superior sound .. unfortunately this speaker will get returned and Ill stick with what works

I had an Onyx 4 for several years then got another on sale, realizing I could pair them in stereo via the HK app. I feel like I got lucky getting it eventually set up, and it DOES sound great in stereo. That said, the app sometimes gets wonky and drops one speaker, then the other. Then it tries to repair themmost of time successfully. Neither speaker is out of BT range, so I think it must be the app. Also, I MUST keep the app up on my phone, front and center. If I try to answer a text or use another phone app, the entire thing stops working. So its a little buggy, but if you can get it working and dont need to touch your phone at all, youd golden.
