This is my main lens with my R6 mark ii and it’s a workhorse for day to day use. The form factor and weight is really good and makes it super manageable to carry and throw in a bag. Obviously having the versatility of an f2.8 is always appreciated, in most use cases f4 is more than good enough and this lens produces really nice images and any focal length. This is also a perfect first lend if you’re just getting into the world of Canon full frame 4 people found this helpful

This is my first RF lens. I was a bit worried about its quality but I think it’s a brilliant lens. I like the result, constant f4 is a happy medium. Sharp photos, an excellent travel lens in my opinion. It’s quiet, fast and its price won’t break the bank. I’m happy with it so far and would recommend it to anyone. 4 people found this helpful

It practically delivers a great image. Very sharp and colours don’t bleed into each other. Very fast focus too. Just remember, you will struggle to get the background blur that you will with a f/2.8. But with a little positioning, it’s achievable. One person found this helpful

May 2022 Verified Purchase I did see the reviews saying that the specification of what they received was not as described, so I double checked with the seller, who was very helpful. I did receive the LTE model, with core M3 processor. So far (1 month in) I cannot fault it at all. I have upgraded to Windows 11 and installed office professional. I don’t use it for games. It performs just as well as my actual laptop (Dell with i5 8th Gen processor). I use the usb-C port to connect a docking station, and then use keyboard, mouse, 2nd screen, LAN. Works perfectly for web browsing and all office tasks. I’ve read not to have too many apps running in parallel, but haven’t managed to find the boundaries of the processor performance yet, with up to 10 Edge tabs, Excel, Powerpoint often all running at the same time. I also often have Bluestack running too for apps which aren’t yet in the Microsoft app store. I also invested in the genuine Microsoft accessories (type case, mouse, surface pen). So I have many options – touch screen, type case pad, pen, mouse for navigation and I find I often use more than one in combination. Then, if you want to pick it up and take it anywhere, it fits in a tablet carry case, and with LTE works anywhere you have mobile reception, and I can use the Hotspot function to share the internet connection. In summary, really happy all round. I have not found a compromise yet from buying the “Gadget Tree renewed” version. No scratches or marks, and battery life seems to be as good as on line reviews report for new (6 to 8 hrs depending on use and screen brightness). I just hope it stays this way and is reliable. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 February 2024 Verified Purchase Have an old, very faithful Surface 3 LTE, and was looking for a cheap update. This looked ideal: double the RAM, twice the processing power, much faster SSD storage, similar form factor (minus the displayport output). The machine itself is all of that; but not sure the condition qualifies as being “excellent” with visible scratches on the screen and scuffs on the shell; but not a deal breaker for a second-hand unit. The reason for returning it is the battery was dead on arrival. Runs very well on mains power (both using the supplied brand new surface charger, and my PD charger connected to the USB-C) but the battery failed to charge at all. Apart from being useless, it means the battery wasn’t checked during refurbishing… so if I were to get a replacement with a working battery, who’s to say it would have the described >80% original capacity. I bought this to replace my old surface go2, which I had been having loads of problems with for a while. I am having ‘just as many’ problems with my new(second hand) one, as my old one. The battery life is far worse than my ‘old one’ the loading time is far slower than my ‘old one’ it has so many glitches, and really annoying problems. I have to admit that I never owned an L lens and have recently upgraded (to R6) from an APS-c crop sensor 12 year old DSLR. The lens itself is amazingly quiet and fast. And I mean Fast with a capital F. The lens is a surprisingly sharp from corner to corner at any given focal length which is something that I personally never seen before. My old nifty fity F1.8 from Canon, Sigma and Tamron lenses always had image quality problems when fully opened which doesn’t happen on this RF 24-105mm. The range of the 24-105 focal length is very convenient too as you don’t have to get very close to the subject and you also have the option to go relatively wide indoors or when shooting landscape (or architecture). Haven’t tried night sky photography yet though, but I think that it will perform great. The compression at the end of the focal length also makes this lens very nice for portraits, or when you simply want to separate your subject from the background – and all this without spending the premium of lets say 24-70mm F2.8, which is just brilliant and I love it! The F4 aperture is no issue for the new mirrorless cameras as they work amazing with high ISO, plus they also support in body image stabilisation, so if needed you can shoot without any issues with low shutter speeds when your subject isn’t moving. The built quality is also amazing for a lens that’s mostly plastic (high quality) and rubber. When you hold it feels very dense and the weight is well balanced. Personally I think that I won’t be needing to upgrade to any other lens for a very very long time

I receive something else don’t buy it guys (verified owner) –
Just bought for my Canon EOS R, was after more image stabilisation for quick action shots. Honestly I haven’t noticed a massive gain over the EF 24-70mm with no IS, actually the glass of the 24-70 is exceptionally sharp. However, even only 1 or 2 stops gain is helpful for fast photography and the extra lenght up to 105mmm also great for portraits. Reduced flange distance works also very well with DPR for additional sharpness. In all very happy, I’m keeping this lens on the camera most of time now. 12 people found this helpful

Its taken a while to get round to buying the 24-105. I started with the 35mm on my R6 along with an EF 100mm macro for shooting mostly indoor music performances. The 100mm macro has produced some stunning portraits in low light. I then experimented with my EFS 15-85mm with the adapter ring and enjoyed the flexibility of the zoom. Some good shots however, the EFS produces a cropped image and the quality never quite matched the 100mm macro. Contenders for my general purpose zoom were: RF 24-105 F4, 24-70 F2.8, 24-240mm. The EFS 15-85mm had shown me I could manage with an F4 lens and the wide zoom range was useful. The RF 24-240mm was tempting but the extra barrel length was less welcome for general use. The RF 24-105 F4 is living up to expectations with some fine shots matching the quality of the 100mm macro but with the extra flexibility of the zoom. The quality of the lens handling and compact size encourage me to take it out more frequently 5 people found this helpful
