Im too lazy to upload a photo but wow. I used this lens for 5 minutes and I was immediately blown away. Plus I work with the Canon R6 and the AUTOFOCUS IS UNREAL OMFG. Get this 50mm. Not the Sigma version IMO

I am not a one to write reviews but this one made me do it. After seeing pictures that I took with this lens I am having hard time using any other of my lens. I was looking for something that would make my portraits sweeter and dreamier and this lens surpassed expectations. Maybe next step will be 85 1.2 no, definitely but for now I have or know of no other lens for my gear that gives so much color and dreams and character to my pictures. What I was looking for. If you need sweet smiles with sparkling eyes looking out of a creamy bokeh and surrounded with outstanding outdoor colors, that is it.

This lens looks wonderful on the camera and when you start using it, it doesnt disappoint. Wide open at 1.2 it isolates the subject from the background with an attractive softness. It gets sharper at 1.8. This is a lovely walking about lens on my 5D and my only comment about that is that the partnership is a little heavy. I love this lens and it stays on the camera unless I have a pressing need to fit something else. Would I recommend it Oh yes. Its a 1.2 for goodness sake. Whats not to love about that. Well, it does struggle to find a focus occasionally in really bad light, but since the light is usually really, really bad when that happens and when it does focus the image is wonderful, its worth the wait.

I have several Canon zooms 1635mm f4L, 2470mm f2.8L II and 70200mm f2.8L IS II, but have been wanting to add a 50mm prime to my collection. After much research I decided to pull the trigger and purchased the Canon 50mm f1.2L and now I regret waiting so long. Once you understand the capabilities of this lens you dont want to take it off your camera. Yes it does take some practice, but thats part of the fun. Pricey yes, but worth the investment.

Finally I think I learned to use this Lens to get sharp images, after a lot of trial and error I am not a pro, and if you are like me, hand holding camera most of the time, you can get the best result from this camera if you useshutter priority mode, set it to a minimum of 200, and adjustthe aperture thru the view finder. Also set the ISO in your camera in AUTO mode with a max limitI have my ISO set to 800 on my markiii during the day. I think my problem was I under estimated the lack of IS on this lens. I was not getting good results just because of the camera shake below shutter speed 200. Happy shooting

First off this isnt a standard lens, its unlike any 50mm lens currently in production. The ef 50mm f1.2L is a specialty lens. I know, your asking How can a 50mm be a specialty lens To answer the question you have to understand exposure. Actually, you have to be a master of exposure. When you set this baby to f1.2 it creates the most creative DOF you can imagine. It also creates the perect creamy bokeh. No Zeiss or Leica lens can coe close. The problem is many people buy this lens and dont understand that its designed for creative compositions when used wide open. The DOF is so shallow, that everything but the area in focus will immediately begin to blurr, or get soft. If you look at examples from the guys who love this lens you see they are masters of creative DOF compositions. The guys who hate this lens, Shoot it wide open, and cant figure out why most of the photo is soft. People say its soft in the corners, wide open. True, but thats because the DOF is Razor thin. If you back it down to f2, it will preform as good as any other 50mm better even. But if thats what you looking for, than buy a cheaper 50mm. Like the ef 50mm f1.4. BTW, the f1.2 still outpreforms the 1.4 when stopped down beter Bokeh is better bokeh. And dont listen to the guys who say the sigma 50mm f1.4 produces the same bokeh. No where near it. This is a perfect lens, if you know how to use it, and trully understand exposure. Do you want to add a creative element to your work, become a bokeh master, or take unique Weddingportrait photos Then look no further. But be prepared to to practice and think outside the Box. I dont mean to be rude. But If you just set you DSLR to P. or a pre set, then dont waste your money. Because your never understand this lens, or how to get the most from it

big, heavy, solidly built. not the sharpest lens i have used but it does allow for shooting in very dim environments with its fast at F1.2. The blur is pretty outstanding and i am finding I am shooting pretty much all my shots with this lens at 1.2. Because it is so heavy i am unsure whether i would take it outside much to walk around with it all day. I use it on a Canon 5D original. If outside, I might rely instead as a walkaround my 50mm F1.8 MK I with the metal mount, not the plastic that is on the MK II. Also have a 28135mm IS USM zoom, which is also lighter than the 1.2, but more imposing because of its bigger size

In a lens fight the 50mm 1.2 would be my first choice. Big, ultra fast and very good looking lens. Creating works of art in photography any L lens would be great to have. And the 50 1.2 has the potential for creative works or art in photography. I had this lens for one month and only beginning to see impressive results in image quality. The colors achieved at f1.2 are amazing. Creating works of art is doable with this lens. Any Canon 50mm is a good choice, but the big 50L is worth the experience. And if it works for you at your level of expertise then keep it.

pictures. As an observation one might want to mention which camera they use this lens with. I shoot a 7D and I dont have any focus issues. Yes it shoots FAST I would recommend this as a good lens with the 7D but I do not know how it operates with other cameras I have used this combo for action photos, landscapes, and portraits al with great results. it takes a little while to master the razor thin focus wide open, but you get great results I plan to purchase a 6d FULL FRAME and I am sure the results will be superb Thank you Buy this lens and if you dont like it then sell it.
