September 2024 all canon batteries are very expensive but when you pay 1000+ for your gear you need the best batteries for the job, does the job there supposed to do. I just wish there were 3rd party batteries like this one. One person found this helpful

I wanted a second battery having upgraded my DSLR to a new Mirrorless camera that only comes with one. This one is a genuine Canon battery and that is reflected in the price. Yes you can buy cheaper; a lot cheaper but do you really want to trust a knockoff battery in a camera that has cost you several thousand pounds?

I always have the same internal debate when buying batteries, like ‘How much better can the Canon one be over 3rd party ones?’ and ‘is it worth the extra cost?’ and ‘why do I care so much about batteries?’ and ‘am I procrastinating by spending my day looking at batteries?’ And unfortunately, the answer is Yes- in my experience, the canon ones will last longer, degrade slower, and don’t occasionally throw up a ‘check battery for authenticity/brick my camera’ on one hand I hate canon for making such good batteries for their cameras, and on the other hand I realise that I should always just get them, as being a professional, why would I cut corners on something that could mess with my job if it breaks (like a third party battery) 2 people found this helpful
