Ive worked with with end cinema cameras and got this for personal projects. For anyone complaining about data rates or battery life.. stick with your DSLRs. You have to build it out a little, but its the same with ARRI and RED.. this just costs 110th the price and gets you a tool that can help make your story. The footage is pretty solid and the functionality is a big step up from other prosumer cameras.

Used the camera twice in an indoor location at aperture f 1.8 and got some amazing footage. Didnt use the camera again until yesterday for another shoot. This time I was filming outside. I was using an 8 stop nd filter but still needed to crank up my aperture to get the right shot. At aperture f8 or f9 you start to notice a black spot on the left side I was using f13 so to my surprise when I get home to a black spot on all my footage. Luckily I was able to scale the footage enough to get the spot out of sight but I shouldnt have to go thru this Im super careful with my equipment and I know I didnt do any to damage the sensor let alone get dust in there like people keep saying. When Im not using the camera I put it back in its original box. I do that with every camera I own. I am very disappointed with this. I would have returned it but Im a week after the 30 days. Going to try contacting blackmagic directly today.
REAGAN –
An absolute steal for the price The color is amazing even on the factory LUTs. The menu is very intuitive and the ability to switch between higher frame rates by one click of a button is a game changer. I was a Sony user before and I will never go back.
Chris –
I own the Sony A7III and was looking to upgrading a new camera, however the A7SIII is way to expensive and the other camera that Sony announced was expensive as well. Blackmagic 6k Pro was a decent price that had a lot of life quality options that I enjoy, compared to Sonys UI. Though I have invested sony lenses, this will be my main camera for short film projects while I use sony as my photography and commercial based work.
Angel –
Going into this camera you got to know what you getting yourself into. Battery life isnt good as we all know but the fact you can get atleast 40 min in a small form factor canon battery is great considering Ive used reds that kill Vmount batteries a lil over a hour. When buying this camera you should go into it investing in a external battery source as you would in any of the bigger cameras. Overall Blackmagic never fails with quality
SAMUEL –
This is a great camera at a great value I have been excited for a camera with this capability for several years and now it is here. Excellent images, love the RAW or Prores options and out of the box shoots beautiful video footage.
Corina –
Im a young filmmaker from California and Ive saving up to upgrade from my a6400 and I decided to go with this. Im extremely happy with it having blackmagic raw and prores. Its a very good experience.
Jason –
All the good is carried over from the previous version, but the sensor and quality is much improved. Not only the 6K, but the highlight recovery All of your old accessories work with it, and who doesnt have EF lens setting around Go for it

If this is the first review of this camera you are reading, get ready because you will see innumerable reviews of how this camera is so fantastic…unless you only want to do blogs.
Philipp –
Excellent. Lightweight, RED quality footageWishes gaps1 Stabilization without needing a heavy gimbal2 Native BRAW support in Autodesk FlameSmoke3 Bluetooth focus wheel for focusing without lens motors focus control through gimbals as well
Drew –
If you know how to use a camera, this is one heck of a camera for the price. Ive been waiting on the a7s3 for what feels like two years so a lowend alternative to my RED Weapon 6K. The moment this came out I knew the wait was over and I was jumping ship. Avoiding the E mount alone made this decision very easy.Do these eat batteries like the cookie monster eats cookies Yes. Buy a bunch of cheap Canon alternatives.Does it plow through CFast cards Yes. If you cant afford several, then Bongo tie a small SSD to the camera. Is BRAW readily supported in Premiere No. Wait it out and shoot ProRes in the meantime if you need to.Amazing image for an insanely low price. As with any camera, use it to its strengths. Dont expect to go shoot hourlong interviews on this camera. This camera is for making beautiful imagery in a compact form factor, and its very good at it.
George –
Its built like a tank, and makes great images. Its slightly larger and I think heavier than the previous 6K so your old cage wont fit. It has a bit of a noisy fan but if you use wireless mics or a boom its not an issue at all. Overall its a great upgrade. The adjustable angle screen makes it far more versatile than the previous model.Pros Image quality is great, Black Magics menus and simple operation are great. Built very well.Cons Several people have reported white spots on their ND filters, so immediately check for that. Also, some people have screens that are too blue and bright which BM says theyre working on a firmware fix for. I feel theres too much grain in lower light but its not a deal breaker at all with fast lenses.Id like to see BM make the USBC port somewhat better designed so theres less stress on it and Ive noticed that plugging in miniXLR cables into it is tricky as its such a tight fit sometimes.
Sam –
The image you get out of this camera is amazing. i would definitely build a rig around the camera unless you feel like carrying around a dozen batteries and many cards. Although even when significantly built out it is still cheaper then the next closest cinema camera. canon c200. rig including full cage monitor top handle matte box filters follow focus side grip. Definitely reccomend this camera.
VAN –
Such an awesome camera, specifically due to its small form factor. It packs a real punch in image quality, which rivals that of the RED. The small, elegant design, makes it great for onthego type camera shoots documentary and the like. Would recommend, especially given the great price point.
Christian –
Perfect camera for anyone who wants to do video on a budget. Very professional outcome. Very simple to use. I use it on a small rig and Ronin S setup. Make sure to get an external drive and battery as it takes up A LOT of storage and battery but to me its worth it.
STEPHAN –
Great little cinema camera that captures impressive images at a relatively affordable price. There are countless of reviews and howtos online, my 2 cents would be the fixed monitor and battery life. This camera wants and possibly needs to be rigged up at least minimally, to perform to its potential.
Ernie –
This camera has been a great addition to the kit. I have it fully rigged out using Tilta Products. The BMPCC 6K feels like a video camera. The camera works great in low light, especially combined with a little denoising with Davinci Resolve. I cannot comment on the auto focus because I have never used it. We use this in addition to a R3D and manually pull focus for everything. The focus peeking on this camera works very well. Its pretty incredible that this camera is only 2000. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
David –
INCREDIBLE camera for indie filmmaking BRAW so much flexibility, and can change WB and ISO in post High Dynamic Range very difficult to clip highlights Dual ISO awesome in low light situations EF mount lots of good lenses options Super35 sensor classic cinema look Great big touch screen 3D LUTs awesome for previewing with the desired look
Alexandria –
I wanted a BM camera I could run a more minimal rig with. Ive been using the 6k Pro about a month now and am in love with the footage and ease of use. The tilting screen has been absolutely amazing and I havent found it difficult to focus thus far, even in bright light. They released an update that fixed the blue screen issue, however the camera did have it initially. Easy fix though The internal ND feature was unbelievably easy to use and great to have especially shooting in the high desert this weekend The audio ports have also been a nice feature. Once the tilta cage is released Ill probably get a bit more fancy with it but for now Im very happy I went this route. Beautiful results with the 6k Pro as is.
Luis I –
Very powerful piece of equipment for its price. Great for people trying to tell stories, not for vlogging or for consumers. It is also a great option for an action cam if you work with ARRI you can easily put it on the top of a car, roof of a car, door of a car, hood of a car, car of a car. It matches pretty well with ARRI.SpecsGreat menu, even though it is touch.Great Dynamic range closer to an a average of 12, but it can make it to 13.5 if you know what you are doing.Form factor is awkward if you dont build the camera. After you build it, it is the closest representation of what real cinema cameras are for a budget.Data is precarious. Not everything works but what does work is the expensive industry standard CFAST cards. Which brings me to my next point future proof. When I say future proof I do not mean the 6K although, that is good. What I mean is that when you buy a monitor for it, you can use it for an Alexa MINI. When you buy CFAST cards, you can use them with the MINI. If you buy gold mounts v mounts, you can use them after with your future upgrade.Ultimately, get good lenses… You date your camera, you marry your lenses.Good luck
Stephen –
This camera makes everything look theater ready. One of my favorite aspects of it is its user friendliness. Take it out of the box and youre ready to go
Ryan –
This camera is nothing short of amazing. The video quality, the availability of 6K and high frame rates, different crops, and different recording codecs make this camera a beast with a small form factor. This camera rivals the Canon C200 and other cameras that have a starting price of at least 4,000, but this camera has a price similar to the obsolete Canon C100 mk1 which is what I upgraded from. The only downsides that I have to mention about this camera is that you must invest quite a bit more money initially on some sort of battery solution and some sort of media solution. This camera records incredible high quality files that you must have at least a 500GB SSD attached to record any length of time at all. Coming from a C100 where I could use two 64 GB SD cards in the camera and record an entire weekend and then some. With this camera I have to have a 1TB SSD to make it through one day. The other problem I have experienced is with the batteries. The Canon LP6 batteries that this camera uses only last about 3540 minutes. This is basically no time to work. I had to invest in a Vmount, DTAP battery which I still need two to get through an entire day. This camera requires at least another 1,000 investment to get it up and running, but it still is a lot cheaper than a C200, FS7 or other similar cameras where you still have to buy more for the rig.
Martin –
The BMPCC 6K produces videos with an amazing cinematic look, but it takes some time to get used to the operation if you come from a DSLM I came from Sony. The BMPCC 6K only has a VERY slow autofocus and very basic automatic exposure. But what you get for your effort is definitely worth it.
Brett –
Better than I could have hoped for. The new 121 compressing is next level. File sizes are manageable and the image quality is superb. Highly recommend. Be sure to write to a T5 Samsung drive and get an external battery.
Roy –
This camera is an absolute beast. If your looking to take your production quality up to the standards of RED, ARRI, and other cinema cameras this is the way to go without putting out the cost of those cameras. For us we was use to DSLRs so if you need an easier way to transition to cinema cameras this is a great option as well, not to mention the free Davinci Studio software thats included. This is a clear winner for upcoming filmmakers and even seasoned filmmakers thats not trying to spend a ton of money to get a look or feel you can get for allot cheap while also maintaining great production quality and value.
Joe –
This camera is unbelievable for color… BRAW is truly crazy in a 2500 camera and has great dynamic range. Davinci is also a perfect combo for editing when switching over to black magic. Great camera

Who knew that such an advanced cine camera body could be purchased new for only 2,000.00 It works as advertised, very impressive. Now the skies the limit.
RahulJ –
Received the camera on time and without any issues from Scan Computers. Lovely camera. Bigger than I expected but very easy to use.
Joel –
Excellent video camera. Great color and image. Lifelike skin tones. The braw codec is excellent. A great combination of file size and flexibility in post.Very intuitive workflow on the camera. Everything is laid out in a way that any setting is easily accessible. Adjustments on the fly are fast and easy. No guessing.Overall terrific product. Highly recommended if you want to shoot in 6K.The only downside is that braw is only available in 6K, and you have to use prores in 4K. Understandable that they dont want a direct competitor to their own BMPCC 4K, but it would be a welcome feature when shooting in 4K.
Roger –
Great camera BlackMagic realy scored with the changes they made with the pocket 6k. The switch from MFT to a EF Mount and the capability to show BRAW in such a small package Is a huge plus. Would definitely Recommend for filmmakers who want to step up theirs production value.
David –
First rule with this camera is do your homework, which if youre reading reviews like this, youre already doing what youre supposed to. The footage youll get from this camera is just incredible and the dynamic range lets you push your clips just about anywhere you want in color. This is without a doubt, a very affordable cinema camera that happens to look a bit like a DSLR.That said, just like a typical cinema camera, youre not going to be ready to go shoot right out of the box. This camera definitely needs extra bits to be effective such as recording media, audio components, and most likely a cage with the capability to hold most of the bolton elements and youll need lenses too of course. The menu in this camera is based on the URSA Mini menu. It is intuitive and very easy to navigate. I also particularly love the FPS button which lets you quickly jump from 23.98 to 50fps, for example, without needing to dig through the menu. This camera does shoot stills as well, but it will not compete with your DSLR. I view the stills capability more as a nice to have feature, particularly if youre scouting or need to quickly grab a reference frame for something.I opted for the 6K mostly because of the mount. I have a ton of EF glass so this fit my workflow best plus its 6K. The body is lightweight and feels almost too light. Thats great news for your gimbal though again, youll need an addon component to fit most gimbals too.Overall, I think this is a solid camera, but should be viewed as a B cam or part of a larger camera package. Youll need some more investment to make this into your A cam, but at the price of this camera body thats more than feasible.
JEFFREY –
I use the Canon Cinema Series for work and am happy with them. I have always been interested in the BM lineup and specifically the BMPCC. Once the 6k Pro released with the internal NDs I knew I wanted to jump in. I mainly plan to use this as a run and gun camera for family home videos and trips but also like that if I need to punch higher than a C100m2 or C300 on a job I have that option. I am really impressed with BRAW. I can color grade and edit 6K BRAW with more ease than ProRes on my computer and the flexibility in post of editing RAW files is amazing. Overall I am super happy with this camera and look forward to years of creative use.
Alec –
As a gh5s owner i was very curious about this camera. I was very inpressed with its build, image quality, and user interface, but this camera requires 3 external accessories to make it work reasonably well a monitor, ssd, and external battery, and to mount all that you need a cage. So the build is too big for my wants. If this camera comes out with an articulating screen and a larger battery in the future i will buy it again.
Efe –
I didnt spend a lot of time with it, but generally I am very happy. The only negative part can be the plastic surface of the camera. It is easily sketchable and feels like a cheap product.
Xzavier –
This camera exceeded my expectations and video capbilities excels past any camera under 15,000. You should absolutely get this camera, i recommend also getting a cheese plate and v mount battery as you only get 30 mins of life without one
Justis –
This camera has surpassed my expectations by far This is THE best camera for the 2000 range and it is dominating. I love that you can shoot yourself and have the camera connected to the power cable so no need to use the battery The little light in the front letting you know you are currently recording also is small but is HUGE for people who are a one man show All in all this camera blew my mind. The screen is also SO good, there is some glare in the sun but thats to be expected so a hood can do you some good or if you have the money get a second mini screen and you are SET.
Dakota –
I really cannot believe the quality of footage coming out of this camera. The inclusion of Davinci Resolve makes this less of a guilty purchase and more of an investment.
patrick –
My experience with the BMPCC4k has definitely benefitted me with this camera. Its a wonderful camera in this price range and I find them image, build quality and functionality to be very good. Highly recommend.
Vincent –
Was an early buyer and paid about 2.9k for my bmpcc6k. I had to RMA my camera cost me over 100 to ship because it kept shutting off randomly, and when trying to turn back on, the camera would show only a black screen with the fans running. BM found an issue with the power control, repaired tested it, and returned the camera to me. It worked for a few weeks of shoots, then started experiencing the same problem, but only with the LPE6N batteries BM and Canon brand. BM offered to cover shipping as a one time courtesy since Im having the same issue twice in a row. I found it odd that they expected a thank you for covering shipping when its their fault for failing to repair it the first time. The reason I didnt give it 1 star is because when it works, the dynamic range is amazing and the focus peaking, false color and touch menu interface was well thought out. Davinci Resolve which came included also handles the 6k files as smoothly as the HD files from my 6dMKII. That was really impressive. You can really make some serious films with this camera. Unfortunately, Ive lost all trust in this camera. I constantly worry the camera will shut off midrecording and ruin my footage. It takes a good 1520 minutes until it actually turns back on and functions. Imagine this happening while recording a wedding ceremony Based on the durability, I cant recommend this camera. I think theres a major design flaw in using LPE6N batteries to power the camera. If you only use it with a Vmount plugged into the 12v port or directly connected via wall outlet, then it might last a long time, but then its no longer easily portable. If you try to stay minimalistic for run and gun cfast card and multiple lpe6n batteries, then I highly recommend avoiding this camera.
M J. –
I already have one of these from early last year and its been the perfect A camera for anything I throw at it. Totally worth the money for the capabilities of this compared to the competition. The image and the dual ISO is amazing and now having two of these for corporate shoots and live events if you us a ATEM mini is a winning budget combination.Only downside is that they artificially locked out BRAW recording in 4K, wouldve been nice when I dont want to record in 6K to safe space on an external 1TB Samsung T5 SSD but I rarely fill that up in a given day.Definitely recommend this to people getting startedeither this or the 4K version however you do give up the EF Canon Mount option, which for me is a must.
Collins –
Absolutely phenomenal camera for independent film. Beautiful picture and easy to work with. Blackmagic offers great customer support. Highly recommended
ROBERTO –
The blackmagic pcc 6k is perfect for small shoots, or run n gun style productions.Pairing it with a V mount battery and a SSD you can shoot for the whole day without worrying.
Heather –
This camera is absolutely amazing. The quality and craftsmanship is outstanding. I highly recommend this to anyone seeking a new camera.
isaac –
you cant get much better than the bmpcc 6k pro in the field of under 5k cinema cameras. My only complaint is that Im not a big fan of the build or shape of the body, but that might be due to the fact that I mostly work with larger cinema cameras. If youre coming from using a dslr or mirrorless then it should be pretty comfortable to operate. I would recommend using lenses with ibs if you do handheld work. Overall its a fantastic camera and the image that you get is comparable to cameras over twice its price
Cole F. –
Blackmagics Pocket 6k is such a high quality cinema camera for the price. The power of BRAW is mindblowing. The versatility of settings and features you get with a 6k are more than enough for any filmmaker. The battery life isnt great with 1 LPE6 battery lasting only 10 minutes while shooting 6k 50fps 121, so be sure to invest further in Blackmagics battery grip, or other external power options. And of course, plenty of batteries, haha. Also, dont expect to get a lot of use out of a 6k without a proper camera rig that allows for more realistic functionality with the camera. Yes, theres a lot that goes into using this camera, but thats what you need to expect. The Pocket 6k is a CINEMA camera, not your average point and shoot camera with autofocus and inbody stabilization. This camera is designed for shooters with a plan, a storyboard, and plenty of time. The 6k can be pushed to shoot quickly for documentaries, but you have to be a good operator. Once you learn shooting skills and master this camera, youll be amazed by what you can do with it.
Maxime –
It is a really good camera for the price. Its body looks strong, the touch screen monitor is easy to use and the camera is light. I am very satisfied of what i purchased.
John –
Ive owned the original BlackMagic Design BMD Ursa, the original Ursa Mini Pro, Ursa Mini Pro 4.6k and now this. This, is by far the most thought out product BMD has designed yet. Although, a bit of a niche product for simple shoots and for those who may already own Canon glass, it has fit the bill for our studio with occasional travel shoots.I had to add a cage to mount mics and batteries, the accessory community has met almost every need to customize this rig. That along with a passionate fan base makes this a well supported piece of gear.My only gripe so far is the mic preamps are just not up to the task. I think I will likely start recording audio separately with the camera being a backup audio source. This will likely totally replace my UMP 4.6K as my go to camera.
Matthew –
I really love the Blackmagic cameras, and the Pocket 6K is also a winner. The color science, the usability, and the pricing for such an amazing bundle of tech is impressive. The only wish I have would be to have BRAW available for 4K DCI and UltraHD instead of skipping those options so I can have more card space. Lovely camera, and the free bundle of batteries and the fast 128gb cards is awesome.
Joel –
There really isnt another camera out there at this price range that does what it can do. 6K BRAW is really amazing The smaller form factor makes shooting a lot easier we used to shoot on a C100. There is an astounding amount of accessories for the BMPCC. We were able to build a really good, versatile rig. Just a really good camera.
Emmanuel –
Ive worked with the famous red, arris, sonys , canons you name it but the bmpcc6k for this price is by far an amazing camera. Over the top quality and not far behind from the big leagues
Ahmed –
Was very looking forward to getting my hands on the BMPCC 6K . Right out of the box, turned the camera on and it would not turn off whatsoever, had to send it back in exchange for a new one. Still waiting on the other one.
Juven –
Ive been using only DSLR cameras to do my videography and now that I acquired this camera, I realized that it is another level. If you only do weddings and similar events, you dont need this camera but if you want to make movies, its a must. I already realized that you have to expend another 2,500 on accessories but thats true with all other cinema cameras. The included battery doesnt last long around 30 minutes. The autofocus is limited but it helps you are able to put your finger on the screen to achieved focus. Also, the cards are too expensive, you will have to buy a SSD drive. I bought the GTech 500GB and works great with any recording settings. I didnt go for the T5 because BM took it out from their list for raw recording. Depending on your 6K raw settings, you get 32 minutes to 128 minutes. In ProRes HQ you only can record up to 4K getting 76 minutes. Now with the Canon EF mount, I feel this camera will be easy to get rid in the near future when you ready to upgrade.
Sean –
Just used it to shoot a corporate video and am in love with how easy it is to use. The intuition of the touch screen is unbelievable coming from other cameras that are several years back in the dark ages.Theres plenty of reviews out there about this camera. Yeah the image quality is great. I love that I can use my canon lenses and not drop a ton of money on any new gear at all to use thisI already had all the batteries, rail system, monitors etc. All I bought was a couple of cables dtap battery cable and a mini XLR. Obviously this would be a much bigger purchase if you are starting from scratchBut the most surprising part was how much of a joy it is to actually use.
Joel –
This camera was everything we hoped for. My only issue is that there are only 3 different color profile modes to choose from. As someone who has a lot of EF mount style lenses, this camera is perfect to dive into real cinema camera quality. Be sure you buy the 6k version if you need the EF mount as the 4K version comes with a micro 43 mount instead. Overallthe quality at this price point is unparalleled. Good job BM
Allen –
First time doing business with Moment. Definitely will not be the last. Nothing I love more than great service. International delivery to Asia in 4 days Say what Thats whats up. Everyones selling the same stuff. I feel service is what sets companies apart. Moment came up ACES.
NEIL –
Every camera has pros and cons, for the price, you cant come anywhere close to this. Recording and editing on Samsung T5 drives are a breeze. Im starting to like 6K BRAW better than 4K pro res DCI. I originally set out to buy the 4K but since I have a bunch of EF glass, this was a better choice. Native mount and no adapters that can and DO fail on set. I can still use M42 vintage glass with EF adapter rings. All in all, autofocus is terrible, but the rest of this camera makes up for it. I hope BM keeps updating the camera. There are still a lot of cool features this could use.
Gary –
The image quality is just jaw dropping BRAW makes working with 6K a breeze. The menu interface is hands down the best Ive ever encountered on any camera. The build quality it solid, and once you throw on a cage, it becomes a little tank.My only issue is the form factor. I have never been a fan of these DSLR Cube form factors that have to be rigged into oblivion. Its so counterproductive, and makes for a very unbalanced camera. Still, with that being said, what the BMPCC6K offers far outweighs this gripe of mine. The BMPCC6K is more than worth the cost. Im loving mine, my clients love the results so far, and this little beast will be apart of all my shoots going forward.
James –
HDMI port is dead, outputs no signal. Not BHs fault, just frustrating and interfering with my work.
Tomasz –
If it wasnt for the Blackmagic Pocket 4K I would say that the Pocket 6K is the best deal for cinema cameras out there. In the end both the 6K and 4K cameras are amazing. Love the raw recording formats along with the touch screen and menu system. Its fast and easy to work with these cameras. Only thing that could be improved is battery life. But that is also easy to fix.
Shanna –
On the initial start up of the camera I was a bit concerned because it wouldnt go past the start up screen but an update from the Black Magic Support page did the trick. I did wish it came with the usb to connect it to my laptop but luckily I found the right cable lying around In my room. This camera is beautiful and even bigger than I originally thought it was going to be. Thankfully I did plenty of research before purchasing and supplied myself with the necessary items to turn this camera into a beautiful cinema rig setup. My computer personally cant handle editing the BRAW 6k files. So Ill have to wait until I upgrade to enjoy that luxury. But even in Pro Res the footage is beautiful and how can you argue with a great camera and free access to the full Davinci Resolve.
chris –
this camera is nothing short of spectacular. ive come from a long line of digital cameras. from the canon XL1 through a panasonic HVX200, the era of the 5DII and the M43 revolution with the A7SII. in addition to that, ive had a RED EPIC for a long time. for me, this camera beats all of them for 90 of shooting situations. BMRAW is a fantastic codec one which will only improve in time, id imagine. it still falls a LITTLE BIT short of the RED image quality, but for most projects, it gets to the point of splitting hairs.the image quality coming out of this camera is just nothing short of spectacular. combined with the flexibility and workflow of DaVinci Resolve pro version is included with the camera theres no excuses for not making cinematic visuals that are usually the domain of cameras costing 10 times the price.an absolute gamechanger, and in the right hands, probably the only camera youll ever need to OWN.
George –
I purchased two of these and I dont want to repeat what other users have already said in their reviews. I love the dynamic range, color and the simplicity of use. Just fantastic for getting a prolook at a reasonable price point
Ryan –
I own two of the BMPCC4K cameras and when Blackmagic announced the Pocket 6K I ordered it 30 seconds later. It arrived just three days after and I immediately realized how amazing it is. The Super 35 sensor gives a very lovely depth of field that makes your films now look far more like professional Hollywood productions. The EF mount works with an unbelievable amount of lenses and the ability to shoot in anamorphic is a much welcomed addition. Did I mention 6K raw to CFast cards Thats incredible. Fantastic camera and an unbeatable value.
JC –
On paper the camera is great, and cant wait to use it on a project. Mine was poorly packaged. The bottom of the box was bulging out, and once I opened it I saw why. The camera was not sitting properly, but at a strange angle. Upon inspection there are scuff marks all over the body, that does not buff out. Does not affect the operation of the camera, but a brand new camera should be pristine. I would return this, but knowing that there is a back order Id probably wouldnt see a replacement for a long time. Also notice a little bit of FNP in the shadows, will have to do further testing to see if footage can be usable or not with the FNP present.
Evan –
PROS The Price. 6K Beautiful Images. USBC for external SSD support. Free DaVinci Resolve Studio A total Beast. A wealth of pro features at a consumer price point. Awesome and easy menus Not a DSLR but can be disguised as one.CONS No continuous auto focus or facial tracking. Not full frame. EF Mount this is probably fine for most shooters. Lowlight is quite good but no A7sii No inbody Image Stabilization This is a super shaky camera. Very poor battery life youll be switching out every 40 minutesThose are a lot of cons but overall, I highly recommend this camera. The pros outweigh the cons by a lot.
Dave –
A tremendous camera, much improved from the 4k version. Video using the Gen 5 is noticeably brighter and more life like.
Stephen –
The best investment I made in 2019…..As wedding cinematographer, I constantly need camera with good image quality that gives the ability to manipulate footages in post. This camera does me proud every day.
Robert –
I shoot a lot outdoors and Im using this as my runandgun camera. The lack of inbody stabilization is a bummer but the camera actually does quite well if you use a lens with stabilization. Love, love, LOVE the builtin ND filters and the ability to record in ProRes. And the interface So intuitive. Makes shooting in manual much easier to do.
Jun –
I own two of these for interviews. Although Ive never been the biggest fan of BM cameras, its hard to argue what they offer at this price point. If you need 6K interview cams or need a couple of B cams for your big boy camera, I cant see any real reason not to recommend this product.

The BMPCC 6K is everything Id wanted and more Its not only small and light weight, but delivers an amazing image. The 35mm sensor makes for an amazingly cinematic image, and I can use all of my canon glass I love the dual native ISOs 400 3200 allowing a great shot in very little light. This camera works well with everything from my Ronin stabilizer to all of my URSA mini 6.4k accessories. All of the ports are solid, full size HDMI, mini XLR, USB 3, and power. I also like that you can use all of the accessories already being made for the BMPCC 4K. I absolutely love this camera At the price point, I recommend you take one for a spin

Bought three to film highereducational online courses. Having three matching cameras is a huge advantage. We will publish the lectures in 1080p, but with the 6k resolution, we can digitally zoom in, making a single camera shot both wide and zoom as if two cameras.I have this paired with the ATEM Mini Iso Pro, taking advantage of the camera controls, color adjustments, and synchronizing the recordings via the ISO recordings. Makes the editing process quickSmallRig with Rode mics and SanDisk SSD makes it a great camera package

I finally have a camera Ive dreamed of for years. It has an amazing image, Is compact, Menus are very intuitive and easily accessible to navigate. Its about time creativity can rule with the technology supporting the creativity. Im excited and now ready to go to work Doing what I love creating independent Feature films And technology is behind the scenes helping with that and not in the forefront trying to figure it out. The price point is incredible as well.

This is a great little cinema camera. Some see it as an entry camera, but the picture is fantastic. 12bit BRAW is extremely easy to grade and it performs very well in low light as well. Would definitely recommend and may pick up another.

I have a YouTube cooking channel and I have been filming in 1080p. To capture the sharpness and slowmotion quality video of cooking food, I felt the need to up my game to 4K. I edit on an Intel i9 based workstationlaptop so I wasnt threatened by 4K at all, but 6K is daunting, just because of the enormity of the file sizes. I also failed to mention that I shoot with four cameras. Making the switch to a more Cine style camera was a tough choice because the investment for me would be at least 2X, most likely 3X than just buying one setup, if I eliminated one or two camera angles. I decided to give the Pocket 6K a try. I am currently only shooting in prores HD. There is not too many more praises to give for this camera than what has already been said and reviewed a thousand times. This is an exceptional camera. What really impressed me, besides the unbelievably easy to use menu setup coming from a sony a6600 which is like trying to solve a Rubiks cube puzzle every time you need to change a menu item, was how beautiful it is to color correct and grade in post. The depth, sharpness and contrast is just spectacular with the footage from this camera. I was very happy with my purchase of one, and now, of course, its on back order so I have to wait to purchase then next.

I had two large projects scheduled when this arrived so had zero learning time before using the camera and Davinci professionally. Fortunately, its layout and menus make it simple to use so with the exception of figuring out how to engage 120 fps I was able to throw on a lens and start shooting. The results in 6k raw are mind blowing and Davinci renders clips pretty quickly so its user friendly, even when the clock is ticking. The display is usable in full sun even at 50 brightness and zebra and focus assist work well.I have a Canon 1124mm lens which looked amazing but the best shots Ive captured so far have been with a Nikon 2470 2.8 and an adapter which allows the focus assist to work. The capture quality is so good I used several screen shots as stills and they compare favorably to my Nikon D850 in raw.You cant touch this camera for the price.

I think there is finally a codec to compete with REDs R3D. BRAW is fantastic This is a work horse of a camera for the price, the image is spectacular. You do need to rig it out a little, but a small cage, with a t5 ssd and a Sony battery attachment is a perfect little rig.Its a must have for filmmakers. You will need a decent machine to work with the files without a proxy workflow.Menus are great And honestly for what it is the internal battery isnt that bad if you know how to work around it.

Love the hype of the great value and capabilities of the NewBlackmagic Design Pocket Cinema 6K Camera.Looking Forward to use it in my next upcoming Photography Project .

For the past year Ive been shooting with the pocket 4k and 6k. I would have one for gimbal and one for handheld and locked off shots. I love the 4k and think its a great value but the 6k has a slightly better image and I HATE adapters. I had 2 systems going. MFT glass and full frame or aspc. It kinda became a headache. When the 6k pro was announced I was immediately interested but wasnt quite ready to sell the 4k and all my MFT glass. A few weeks later I took the plunge and Im glad I didI bought the EVF and Battery Grip. Both are great value. I wanted a camera I could just grab and go. No ND filters. No mattbox. No external monitor. No follow focus system. ETC.So with the 6k Pro I can put on a camera strap and go out wherever without too much attention getting drawn. The built in ND filters are great. I wish they went to 10 stops but for the money 6 stops is great. The new articulating screen is great. I havent had the blue tint problem. The screen is bright and I can even see it with sun glasses on.I already loved the pocket cinema camera line but this is just so much better IMO.
Julian –
Im loving the camera so far. Yes the files are heavy, but I already knew that. Yes you cannot flip or move the screen, but I wasnt expecting that from the camera, thats why I paired it with an external monitor. The camera is not an introductory camera, is a compact sized cinema camera and if you have that clear from the get go, you know what to expect from it.The battery is great, I thought it was gonna be bigger, but not disappointed about that. Its light weight and perfect for travel.

Bought this to downsize from the C100 Mark II. While the ergonomics arent as good in my opinion, the quality for the price is outstanding

We get out and make money and make our nonprofit fine art plus collaborators shine better with this camera. In 365.25 days of having this camera, I hope Blackmagic Design will take my wishlists seriously as I beta test and am sponsored by all my hardware and software companies with a professional resume to match it. Thank you BH for making this possible. I love my Pocket Cinema 6k almost as much as my MPC Live 185668232.orgvideo

There are hundreds of positive reviews on this camera. They are all right. I have 5 Canon DSLRMirrorless cameras, 4K JVC pro camcorders, and about a total of 10 cameras that shoot 4K or better. This one has the best color science of any of them. The footage always looks spectacular. To get anything better I will have to rent because Id be into quite a bit more money.
Patrick –
Ive owned dozens of Blackmagic Design cameras from the URSA Mini Pro 4.6k G2 to the OG pocket 1080p. This camera is by far the easiest camera to use that Blackmagic has made. Not only that, but the footage is also the best looking out of any camera Ive used by them. The 6k Super 35 sensor is gorgeous, and the gen 5 color science is brilliant to work with. Its much less depressing looking. The battery life is now at the point where I can use use just the camera as a minimalist rig, however I still recommend rigging this camera up to a vmount. I didnt buy the viewfinder for this camera, as I dont particularly love the form factor it provides, as Im much more likely to sit on the left side of the camera rather than behind it. Im hoping that a third party manufacturer will provide some way to change the position of the viewfinder, at which point I will look at picking it up. The ND filters are amazing to use. Theyre significantly less janky feeling than the ND filters on the URSA and are worth the extra 500 by themselves. Additionally, the two mini XLR ports are a welcome addition. Add in a tilting screen and all of this is only 500 moreBut, theres one problem for me. The LCD on my screen is tinted completely blue. Like unusable blue. Its embarrassing to have this camera on set because even directors will see the color difference between the two monitors. Ive talked with Blackmagic and theyll be issuing a fix, but I cant believe they didnt see this before sending the camera out. Until this is updated and fixed I cannot rate this camera anything other than one star. If youre thinking about picking one up, either buy it through a company like Bh with a great return policy, or wait until the issue is resolved.

As a semi pro photographer of many years I decided to enter the world of cinematic video. I have owned many cameras over the years and this is my very first cinema camera. I have had it a few weeks now and so far I love it. Being able to use all my Canon L glass on a full sensor is pretty much why I chose this camera, also the great price felt good on my wallet. I have followed Blackmagic for some time now and I feel confident in their technology. The camera is not as heavy as I thought it would be and it seems to be very well made. As many reviewers have stated the battery life is not that good on a single battery. While I understand this is not meant to be a still camera, the button for capturing stills makes it almost impossible to do without camera shake. For me the ProsPrice. Can use Canon glass no adapters.Easy to understand interface.Free DaVinci Resolve license key included.Shoots BRAW ProRes.Shoots BRAW in 6KLarge sensor for great bokeh. Not too big to fit into my travel bags.ConsBattery life.Large file sizes but understandable with 6K BRAWNot easy to balance on the Ronin S using a 2470mm lens.Still capture button is horrible to say the least.Need a pluggin to edit BRAW in Premiere Pro.The pros out weight the cons and I feel this camera will serve me well. I will indeed look for a better power solution.

I was waiting for this camera for so long Better battery life, flip screen, integrated nd filters, a filmmakers dream camera Dont hesitate and just buy it

Amazing camera, amazing price you cant get a better cinema quality camera with these features at this price point ANYWHERE. This thing will change your filmmaking.

Ive used the original pocket, the pocket 4k and now the 6k pro. Is the upgrade worth itI wanted to move away from MFT sensors and mounts, so this checks the box for that.Do I need 6k No, but do I want to spend 1500 more for an A7slll and use a hybrid camera for my work even though all I do is videoInternal NDs are insane to have and I still have to get used to them. The 2.8k 120fps is very usable and can be matched with the 6k footage easily if you know how to grade and denoise properly.I shoot mostly 121 on a 512GB Cfast.Another added feature is the extra XLR input which will come in handy in a lot of shoots. The camera is heavier than the 4k, but I think it can be run and gunned similar to a canon C line camera especially with the battery grip and eyepiece if you end up adding them on.I had a heavier zeiss lens on without the grip or eyepiece and it came in at around 1.95lbs.The only con is the form factor. It grew on me since ive been using the 4k for 2 years, but a more boxy shape like the Zcams would be nice would probably get rid of the beautiful display though. If youre stuck between this, the fx3 or a7slll, and care mostly about workflow and organic colors, get this. Anyone can get decent color if they know how to grade, but the BRAW codec imo is unbeatable, and at the price, I wouldnt consider anything else at the moment. Thanks for coming to my ted talk
Zviad –
Image and video look very cinematic cool. But this camera has serious issues with the power. It cant work with LPe6 batteries for more than 15 min 4k. While my old canon mark ii worked up to hour recording FHD.the camera is very lightweight. Looks a little cheapmade.Has some noise. And its not suited for a rainy or dust environment due to huge ventilation halls.
Brian –
Its the first dslr style camera that feels like it is made for video, that I have gotten to use. When i entered production I was very much a camcorder guy. This camera bridges both worlds so well. the compact style of dslr with the camcorder straight forward approach. You will be buying hard drives like crazy.
Alex –
Light weight, canon lens compatible. Does not take a regular sd or cf card in their respective slots.
Zach –
I have 2 of these and love them. The BRAW workflow through Resolve is great as well. They need to be rigged a bit to use for anything serious, but that isnt too big a deal when you consider the price you pay for such an amazing camera.
Jon –
Really intuitive interface, great features, really powerful camera. The only downside is battery life is terrible. Fortunately, our use for this is fixed in a studio and connected to ATEM mini pro which it works great with even shows the red light when you cut to the camera so talent knows where to look
Vincenzo –
I cant say enough about this camera. The price, the ease of use, the quality…if you are looking for a runandgun, or a vlogging camera, while it can be built out for those purposes this was made to build out just like an ARRI or a RED Camera. The nonarticulating screen and autofocus are not features these MUCH more expensive cameras have either. They are meant to be used with VMount batteries or other add on accessories like the former l, but at fraction of the cost. Worth every penny
Jeremy –
Also received a camera with scratches on it. I could live with this but the camera also does not function properly at all. I can record clips and playback on the camera when it doesnt shut down or stop recording after 3 seconds but when I transfer files to my computer theyre corrupt just a black box shows up when opened in BM Raw Player. Looks like they jumped into production too soon with these. I still love my BMPCC4K and Ursa Mini Pro G2
Matt –
Comparable image to our RED helium. 8K at a much smaller size and much better price.
Mark –
While I havent had a chance to really break in this camera and test every little thing yet, I have to say being able to walk around with the bare camera is such a treat. The built in ND filters look great to my noncritical eyes, the LCD on my copy looks fine No blue tint Ordered 31621, and everything Ive shot so far looks fantasticI havent really had the pleasure of seeing any high brightness monitors before, but the rear LCD at 100 brightness is absolutely daylight viewable in direct sunlight. Pulling focus off the monitor is difficult on wider lenses, but you can also punch in even with the clean feed active to really nail infinity.Even 1080p ProRes 422 out of this camera looks incredible, and with no crop on the full sensor. I was an original Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera owner back in 2013 and this 1080p footage blows that out of the water. It is a different quality of image The original is still incredible image quality, but having a S35 field of view with Blackmagics color science and the convenience of all the extra features this camera brings to the table makes this a winner in my eyes. No longer do you have to rig up a monitor This camera is 100 feasible to use bare bones.I even have to give props to the internal mics. I dont know if theyre the same as the Pocket 4k, but they sound excellent as well if you need ambient sound in a pinch.
Travis –
For the price, this camera is absolutely amazing. Ive been putting it through some stress tests and its been consistently beating my expectations. Cannot recommend it enough. I do wish it could adapt to a PL mount or have the newest canon mount.
Mark –
I ordered within minutes of the announcement, but returned mainly because my delivery vehicle for classical music performances is YouTube, not Netflix and P4K images already better than why YouTube can deliver. I loved that I can use my EF lenses directly, but the p4k can with adapters too along with many other types. I loved the idea of working in 5.7kp60 Braw and then downscaling to needed output, but the data is massive and a true performance problem for available recording devices. I love braw and would need to use prores for lower resolutions that I now use in braw on my p4k. The biggest advantage of the p6k in my opinion is fixing the pink cast some reviewers in underexposed areas with the p4k. If you need 6k resolution, this camera is a steal. I dont, so will wait for a follow on model which can record 6k60p braw 51 to economical storage. CF Express can handle the data rate, but is even more costly than CFAST 2.0
david –
I dont know what Everyone elses issue is because this thing is amazing. How you could complain about a 6k camera for is beyond me. Ive taken it on two weddings since I got it and the image quality is amazing. I have had some bugs mainly is not recognizing my memory card about 13 of the time when I turn it on lol. But I talked to someone at black magic and they said a software update was coming soon that would fix the problem. It could not turn on Half the time and Id still be stoked on it. If you have the chance sell your red and buy this camera, it will change your life.
Adam –
Its a beast So far it has delivered on all levels. The only thing I wish they would add into this camera is an upgrade to the autofocus system. Follow focus tracking would have been a great upgrade even for a few more dollars
Collins –
I absolutely love this camera. It has incredible capability and is easily transported to locations. Highly recommended
Marco –
I guess everything about it has been said already. Incredible for the price, but please, never trust the internal batteries and get some VMounts.
William –
The UI is intuitive and easy to learn, the options for resolution are incredible. It can house multiple forms of storage and is ultimately an incredibly versatile camera. Ive wanted one for years and it was well worth the wait.

An absolutely fantastic setup, we are normally BnH customers but they didnt have this in stock. So happy with the customer service and fast shipping. The unit itself is awesome, does everything we need it to do and so much more. Now we are excited to try different lenses and some cini glass. We have owned several Black Magic cams in the past but this one is the best. Recording to an SSD 2 terabyte drive and powered with a x lion battery lets us film most of the day. We have a production company in Key West FL. This unit will get used several times a week for sure.thanks
Jesse J –
The shooting itself isnt the complicated thing. As many reviews say, the menus are completely intuitive and easy to navigate. The trick with this camera is learning how to make the most of the footage when you get into the post bay. There are LUTs to be sure. But, the footage is so flat that youll have to learn a bit of grading to make the most of this device. Also, yes. It chews through batteries at a savage rate.
Darius –
This camera is amazing I bought a tilta cage and a vmount battery and now I am shooting all day with this Love it.

I had originally purchased the BMPCC 4K thirty three days before they announced the BMPCC 6K and needless to say the 4K went back and I upgraded to the 6K.The BMPCC 4K I loved from the get go, however I quickly ran into a few disappointments. I have worked professionally in high end film and television production for 30 years. I only choose EF or PL mount lenses which are the most common on movie sets. The BMPCC 4K had a few limitations. Firstly the 2x crop. I initially looked to buy both the 0.64x and 0.71 speedboosters at 699 each 1398. I had initially purchased Viltrox EF to MFT adapters, but found they had wiggle at the camera body, and some had wiggle on the EF mount side. I rented out the 0.64x and 0.71 T Cine Ultra speedboosters and even those had play. Not good for follow focus. On top of that I needed to buy the straight Metabones smart adapter 399. On top of that I needed to invest in a 6501200 external monitor that could do a 1.33x desqueeze as I shoot with an SLR Magic Anamorphot65 1.33x anamorphic adapter. All up I was looking at 3000 on top of the BMPCC 4K to get it up to spec. Then the announcement of the BMPCC 6K happened and all my planned purchases went out the window. For just 1200 more I could have the 6K with native EF mount and a super 35mm sensor. Coming from the world of feature films and having started on 35mm film, this was the camera I had been dreaming of since cinema went digital. Not only that, but the super 35mm sensor and the EF mount were things that I wished the BMPCC 4K had And Blackmagic deliveredYesterday I received my 6K and I am over the moon. I can now get a 16mm focal length Rokinon Cine DS 10mm without extra glass between the lens and the sensor. Crystal clear images and way better than the 4K with the Metabones. There is a Magicbooster that has been announced which will do the same function as Metabones but for the EF mount, converting it essentially to a full frame equivalent lens Angle of View. Of note, imagery comparisons with the speedbooster show the ever so soft blur that the extra glass causes. Now onto the 6K itself. I am not bothered by not having a speedbooster to shoot full frame, why Because I come from the world of Super 35mm 3 perf film. This is what I am looking to emulate with my digital cinematography. The math is easy to figure out your focal lenth 10mm16mm, 24mm40mm, 35mm58mm etc. Id really prefer to invest my money into good glass rather than speedboosters. The EF mount is a dream Absolutely firm lock with the lens and zero wiggle or play. Makes it perfect for motorized and manual follow focus systems, no lens shift when focusing. As I use high end glass the only lens mounts I need are PL or EF only I dont need 10 billion photography lens adapters.Having come from ARRI and RED to be able to own my own Cine camera for 2500 glass is a lifelong dream come true. From receiving the camera to assembling it, shooting test footage, editing and uploading to video servers the process was less than an hour. Way better workflow than DSLR Mirrorless photo camera based shooting. The menus are intuitive and easy to find and save lots of time on set getting the camera set up or to change shooting modes. Firing up the camera ready for filming is a matter of seconds in comparison to the RED which can sometimes take up to 12 hour once you arrive on set to turn it on and run calibration. The only drawback right now on the Pocket cameras is no in camera desqueeze for 1.33x anamorphic lenses. The included anamorphic desqueeze is 2x so I still need an external monitor to properly view the anamorphic shots. Also hoping that Blackmagic Design allow for 4K and below recording in RAW again. I really dont want to use ProRes for lower resolution shots. All in all, Im super thankful to Blackmagic Design for making my lifelong dreams come true.

I am so pleased with my Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera 6K Pro. What a perfect camera for a first time cinema camera owner. BH made the purchase so easy and they were so helpful
Satesh –
I bought this camera for some documentary work and at first I was in between this and the GH5s. I was able to get sample footage of both cameras and to me the BMPCC was a clear winner when it came to image quality. When buying this camera you have to realize a few things. This is a Cine camera so it doesnt have continuous AF or a flip screen or any features like most mirrorless or DSLR Video cameras. As a canon owner I already own a number of EF mount lenses so it was a no brainer to get this over the 4K version. Plus my documentaries are going to be edited in 4K so having that extra resolution helps. My one complaint is that EF mount on this camera doesnt seem to lock the lens is place very tight. The other is that recording at constant quality at Q0 will sometimes drop frames and it seems to be in scenes with a lot of detail.Overall this is a great camera and there are always new updates being released so its a bit future proof as well. I love the ease of use, picture quality and the build.
SYDNEY –
My dad loves this. The only thing I didnt know is its not usable as is. You need a huge battery, storage, a lense of course. But he is over the moon with the camera He talked about a cropping factor though…and how unfortunate it is. I know nothing about it. But there are some amazing features, he discovers a new one every day
Mannuel –
Best budget cinema camera you could ever get at this price point. I would get more to use with atem mini for studio production.BH service was simply the best in my experience during this pandemic
Enrico –
My camera arrived on time and in one piece. The only thing thiscamera needs is an update for focus control on its bluetooth whichBlackmagic has yet to implement. Overall, extremely happy with thispurchase.
Mike –
I bought this for some streamingI get a nice image recording to internal cards. The menu system is easy and powerful. But it only outputs 1080p via its HDMI connection. For a variety of reasons I want to record directly to my computer and I cant. My mistake for now looking this up ahead of time but now I know. I had no idea that a camera that records in 6k would only output 1080p.
Erhan –
With the EVF, Inbody ND filters and better battery life you can use the camera without a cage or any additional upgrades. But Its harder to effectively operate BMPCC4k in a bright day light. You cannot see the screen at all. Battery last only 2535 minutes, need variablends to get a decent image. So, you have to rig it up with cages, better battery solutions like Vmount batteries or battery handles, lens adapters to be able to use wide variety of lenses. So BMPCC4k becomes heavy, not much portable as intended. Also BMPCC4ks price gets closer to BMPCC6k Pro with metabones adapter, quality VND, battery solutions and etc… So if its your first buy, save your money and get 6k Pro. You will pay at least 1000 more to 4k eventually. Also, I realize, I take my 6k Pro with me more often than 4k because its just lighter to use than 4k.
Xavier –
Youve seen the comparisons with other high end and higher priced cameras Arris, REDs, etc. etc. THIS camera with the right knowledge eye can produce some amazing quality shots. I dont push ISO past 1250…some may argue 1600 but to each their own. You WILL need a F750 battery mount or other battery mount..stock battery lasts 30minutes on the BMPCC 6K. Some pair this with Leica Rs, some pair this with Zeiss, whatever your paintbrush is, you wont be let down. Also note most SSDs cannot record past 81 or 51 RAW.Overall, even with the weaknesses this is ground breaking for filmmakers on a budget.
Lamarc –
I bought this camera for the camp I work at. I didnt want to spend so much money on a camera so I decided on this beautiful gem. Very lightweight and a nice size. Very userfriendly and for this price a great starter tool for all the filmgoers. The only reason I gave it 4star is because the autofocus isnt the best but if you are a person that loves to control this then its not a problem.
Christopher –
I took some time making the decision between the 4k and 6k models of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras. One one side, you have a relatively inexpensive 4K at 1200 and on the other a 6K just at 2000. My decision came down to two factors The first had to do with the collection of EF L Canon lenses I had laying around and the other with the larger 6K capabilities the camera offers.Despite being a 20year video veteran, I admit I was fairly ignorant of Cinema Cameras and have come a long way in a short time in understanding the differences between these and the ENG broadcast cameras I am used to working with.Having used the BMPCC 6K in a short amount of time I can give you my first impressions, which are that the camera has some issues I wish I had known about before buying. Nothing that constitutes a deal breaker but would have helped me budget the whole purchase better.Beyond the initial purchase of the camera, you will have to secure a proper power source, as the included Canon E6 battery barely holds a 40minute charge on normal continued use. The other turn off was the need to purchase a seemingly endless bit of accessories to make this into something manageable in the field. Many professionals know that buying a camera is only the first step in the spending process. Not withstanding the normal lights, microphones and lenses, the camera benefits enourmously with a cage that allows you to better attach necessary items like those mentioned and some I have not, like the SSD drive you will no doubt want to consider, some cable attachments that improve the convinience and position of your cables and some fixtures that allow you to securly mount monitors, field recorders and other necessary gear. However, notwithstanding these annoyances, the camera is utterly brilliant in how easy it is to learn and operate. Within minutes, because of its familiar form factor, I was able to get set up and shooting with an SD card and the included battery. The experience was short, mind you, but very gratifying right out of the box. Most of the literature you will find on this camera does little to point out that the storage for this camera at 6K has to be considered carefully. The most expensive thing after the camera and lenses will most definitely be an SSD hard drive. Buyer beware NOT ALL SSDs will work with this camera and only a select few will allow you to take full advantage of all the resolutions this camera offers.Depending on your needs a Samsung T5 1 or 2TB drive will work for most settings BUT NOT at 6K 121 ratio. I learned this the hard and uncomfortable way. There is a couple of drives you can buy that are twice the price of the T5 and if you can stomach the cost, then you should take advantage of that so you can access the 6K resolution. I have discovered that some of my SD cards work at this ratio well, but are limited to 128GB which only give me about 12 minutes of footage. For some projects that may be all you need though. So, perspective. The EF lens mount was very convenient for me as I had a number of Canon L grade glass laying around I had not used since I put my DSLR down a few years ago. I was glad to be able to dust those off and put thm to work on this camera, especially the f1.4 50mm and some of the f2.8 lenses I have.Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of the image this camera offers, allowing you to customize your color grading in Post with little effort and with outstanding color fidelity.I could not detect any flaws in the operation of this camera and I have not fully explored all that it has to offer yet.It does connect to the ATEM mini and Studio HD, that I can confirm. I wish Blackmagic would consider updating the ATEM studio hd to take full advantage of the camera control features this only works in the new line of ATEM minis for now.Connecting an external audio device will require you buy a couple of specialized cables. Depending on your need and if you decide that a cage and rods are necessary, you can be prepared to jump down a pricey rabbit hole of seemingly endless and overpriced accessories. My experience has been though that the camera does quite fine on its own and can be very functional as a broll cam, where sound engineering is not a requirement.I am rating this camera a 4 out of five based on price. At 2000 many may think it a bargain in the Cinema Camera realm, and they would be correct. However, I believe that in comparison to its little brother, the 4K version, this camera has little offer beyond the EF mount and slightly larger, hard to access 6K feature. If you are starting out with Cinema camera like I am, you cant go wrong with the BMPCC. It is a solid little camera and at the fraction of what these cameras can cost, its a great place to startOf course, BH has staff to answer all your questions before buying, saving hassle and time in getting your purchase to your door.

Great image. Easy to use. Excellent value for the price. Would highly recommend for prosumers.

Main reasons for buying this camera Price, image quality, and recording formats. The option to record to ssd is also helpful. Once you find an alternative solution for battery power, stabilization, and pulling focus this camera is great. Dont expect to use AF and internal batteries.
Avery –
I bought this the hour it came out because I was ready to pull the trigger and get the 4K version to pair with my GH5. When I saw the announcement I knew this was what I wanted. I also got the Sigma 1835 which Ive wanted for a long time.It is amazing I know the dynamic range is listed at 13 stops but it feels like much more. I love my GH5 but this feels like 23 stops better. The B Raw is so nice. being able to make correction in post is a life saver sometimes and the latitude in color grading is awesome. the 2,500 price tag is clearly a steal. The sensor is basically a glorified M43 sensor as it barely fits the super 35 category but the extra dof that it gives me over the GH5 is really nice. The battery life is terrible but that wasnt a surprise. I just bought 8 knock off batteries that are just as good as the original and just swap them out while on the Ronin S. I didnt want to build a big rig like so many other people so I just have the SSD on top and thats it.I shot some test footage in 6K and it shows off what this camera can do. You can watch it herehttpswww.youtube.comwatchvoLH8rXE73ck

Feels is solid, touch screen is fast, layout is logical. Really every thing BM claims is there. Two things 1. Dont rely on AF, this is a cinema camera, AF will disappoint. 2. There is a stills button, but this camera is not designed for stills and the stills button is moody, for lack of a better word. This is a known issue. All said, I could not live without this camera. Canon mount is what attracted me. This is the first time I bought a body and didnt have to throw in another grand for lenses. Battery grip or external power supply is a MUST. Even with a pocket full of batteries, youll be stopping every 3035 min for a battery change.

Ive used Resolve studio since 12.5 its amazing software, google Resolve Studio Update download the FREE latest version 16 or 16.1 cause if you get version 15 with the BMD camera 6K raw isnt compatible with it. If the camera stops recording after 3 wish seconds its cause the card is too slow for the format its set at. I had the lexar 3600X set at 6K 50p it stopped after 3 seconds every time, I set it to 5.7K 60P it has no problem recording longer than a few seconds. BMD site has a list of recommended storage for different formats.

I have been a hybrid shooter for the better part of 3 years. I shoot professional photo and video for clients all around the world in the tourism industry. The 1DXII has been my workhorse able to handle any conditions while still producing amazing results. Lately, I have been looking to invest in a solid cinema camera and ditch professional photography for now. I was looking at the RED Gemini and seriously considering buying one for a few client shoots and an upcoming passion project. That was until the BMPCC6K was released. I was absolutely blown away by the specs of this camera and the fact I could use my EF glass. It was a no brainer. I was planning to rig it out and with about 5000 in additions, its currently hitting way above its weight even better than RED IMO, and heres why First, the image is incredible. It really looks closer to an ARRI image than anything. Its a true cinematic beast. Second, record to SSD. This is absolutely massive. I use a 2TB Samsung SSD and Ill really never run out of record time on a shoot. When I get back to the hotel after a late night of shooting all I have to do is take all the footage from the day and move it into a folder and done. Takes all of 5 seconds and my dumping workflow is complete. I used to stay up for 23 hours every night dumping footage with my 1DXII and dumping cards. I am getting better sleep because of this camera. Third, the resolution is on par with cameras that cost 2030K. Thats all I have to say about that. Fourth, Pro Res 4K is actually great when I shoot weddings or events. I usually properly expose and dont always need the hassle of the RAW workflow. Pro Res has actually been a really great feature lately and it runs incredibly well on my mac. It opened my eyes to how nice it is to edit a native format. Fifth, the UI is the easiest and most intuitive of any camera system Ive ever used and Ive worked with all of them. Its simple, fast, and responsive. All the professional video monitoring systems are intuitive and its easy to slip through frame rates. The sixth best thing about the camera and I could go on all day is that its inexpensive. I would have regretted buying a RED. Yeah, you may look more professional, but my image and videos are better using this tool rather than a RED and for far cheaper. I built this camera with accessories for 7000 using the best monitor, cage, shoulder rig, SSDs, and a matte box. It looks professional when I step in front of the client. And most importantly it does everything I need it to do and I know how to operate it. Thats why I love this camera. I have seen Canon and Sony drop new hybrid cameras and I just know the best camera for me is the one I have right now. I think its the industrys little secret to be honest. I have 5 friends shooting on them right now and the content they are making is nextlevel. If you are trying to become a serious video shooter and you want to make films this is the camera. I am convinced its still the best on the market for a lightweight rungun filmmaking. Its a cinema camera. And the best one you could possibly buy right now for the money and its almost September of 2020. If this hasnt convinced you yet than this camera isnt for you. Black Magic kudos to you for delivering just a heavy hitter of a camera and making it about the actual filmmaking. Now I can use the other 23,000 I saved from a RED to make my film.
Benjamin –
This is a really really nice camera to have as a B Cam but cmon BM, stop producing cameras with dead and stuck pixels, a new camera is not supposed to have those, specially a cinema camera.Every time I buy a camera from Blackmagic and this is my 4th I have to order two and even three times the same product in order to keep the camera with the least problems, from fixed pattern to stuck pixels you name it, its ridiculous.QC at the BM factories is very bad I have to say.Are you listening Grant Petty
William –
Just a beautiful organic image and color. Possibly the bargain for all the video cams presently on the market. There is, for me as a hand held shooter, a significant omission JOY STICK.I use a Kinotehnik view finder to shoot run and gun and it works great But every time I have to change something in the menu I have to stop, remove the view finder, and scroll through the pages. NOT GOOD.This one addition would make both the 4 and 6 k cameras MUCH more useful for hand held shooting. Please, Blackmagic…DO IT
Kyle –
I am in love with everything about this camera. Incredible value for the image quality. You certainly need to know how to use it, but if youre an experienced videographercinematographer than youll easily master this camera.
ILJA –
Dope camera, great bang for your buck Chews through batteries like a beast but what do you expect for 6K RAW or 4K ProRes footage. Footage looks awesome from this lil guy so far cant wait to test more..
Robert –
Love everything about it.. BM is on the filmmakers side. For those that are new in filmmaking. get this cameraThanks BH for the fast shipment. well packaged also.
Dominic –
Best user interface.False color is awesomeGreat codecs.A solid state drive is best for media.
Anonymous –
Great video thus far. Easily adaptable to lenses. Great program to edit the videos. Easy touch screen. Light weight and good quality
Kevin –
This is one of the greatest budget friendly cameras aroundThe only con is that the battery life is terrible. I knew this before purchasing so I also bought a v mount battery kit, giving me endless hours of shooting
Edward –
This camera as well as the 4K has relatively short battery life with the internal battery. They definitely require substantial external batteries which is a nuisance when they are used handheld. The Tilta hand grip holds a higher capacity 12v battery, but even that provides insufficient capacity ro extended shooting in the field.
Elias –
Bought this camera to use at my church for filming sermons, studies, interviews, and more. Excellent image quality with pro features. Really hard to beat it at this price.
Jana –
I used a pair of Panasonic GH5 bodies for the last few years and was hesitant to switch to Black Magic but Im SO happy that I did. Im not the strongest videographer Im more comfortable shooting than editing but I feel so much more comfortable on the BMPCC 6K. I love the menu system, the LUT preview, the large beautiful screen, how light the body is, that I can record straight to a T5. But most importantly the dynamic range this cam captures is lifechanging for me It inspires me to shoot more than my GH5 did.
Jeff –
This camera is a beast…The 6k raw footage is incredible I shoot a lot of corporate interviews and the skin tones are very good. Is the camera perfect No…Battery life is poor, the body is an awkward shape for mounting on a gimbal…But hey its only 2500.00. No regrets…If fact I have 2.
Norman –
Great camera Nd filter build in perfect toolbraw and proRes both are
Danielle –
unless you have 20k to spend, this is THE best cinema camera money can buy. It gives you the sharp, dynamic cinema look of ARRIs and REDs but with a much more portable form factor. This camera some great and affordable accessories WILL let you make professional quality films without having to hire full crews and spend a ton of money on gear. The color science is incomparable. Dont waste you money on a RED. And dont bother with DSLRs if you want a real cinema look.I cant say enough great things about this camera. Just buy it and start creating.
Travis –
Our old 4k pocket has iris control for tamron 70200mm lens, but we get no control when we put it on the newer 6K pocket. Why
William –
The quality of the 6K compressed raw footage absolutely blows me away. I shot some video at night at ISO 3200 with a cheap Canon EFS kit lens, and the result was sharp, well detailed and needed no video noise reduction. I suggest you buy a real battery solution like the Core SWX, which runs the camera for at least 3 hours on one charge. Also, use an optically stabilized lens if you want to shoot handheld. I have not yet seen any rolling shutter issues when shooting moving vehicles or trains. Be sure to use the focus peaking, as the monitor on the back of the camera is too small to see critical focus. Over all, this is a fine camera.
Andrew –
This camera has it all almost. This camera is embarrassing to other companies charging upwards of 80K for a cinema camera. Obviously this camera will never replace an Alexa on set, but man, oh man is this thing a beast
Levi –
I used the 4K for corporate events several times in the past, and decided to jump on the 6k for Freelance work. Love the fact that I dont need an EF adapter, and when you account for the cost of a metabones, this camera doesnt have that much of a price premium on the 4k.Lowlight seems to be a little better. Sensor is a definite improvement. My biggest gripe is that 4k4k DCI1080 is Prores only while the other resolutions are BMRaw only. Thats odd to me, but Im clearly not an engineer. Its a little larger to accomodate for the larger sensor but thats such a minimal issue. My camera arrived in superb condition.I have yet to test it on an all day shoot, but I look forward to it.
walter –
This camera delivers on everything from an image quality, and usability perspective. The thing that would have made this a five star camera would have been built in ND filters. I would have given it a 5 if it had built in ND.
Zach –
This camera is everything I could ask for. The ND filters are a dream. The quality is incredible. Shooting BRAW has gotten me amazing images. Shooting 6K looks absolutely beautiful, although I only use it selectively for wider shots since the camera crops a fair amount in 4K. In 4K I had to grab a 15mm lens for an image close to what I was getting from a 24mm lens on a full frame DSLR.I never noticed the blue tint everyone talks about, but a simple update that BMD put out fixed that with the ability to calibrate the color temperature of the monitor.Im blown away by this camera and for the price its a no brainer if you are in need of the features this camera offers.
Jeremy –
They develop solid professional tech, and roll it out to as many pieces of their product line as they can. Pretty straightforward. I use the ND on this all the time, the screen is a big improvement, its solid. Now if theyd just stop aping a form factor from 1940, I think I would really be in love.
Vince –
Incredible performance and features for the price. If you read other reviews, they will most likely comment on battery life its true that the camera is a power hog, but not surprising considering how large and useful the monitormenu is. Luckily, the easy to find and quick to charge LPE6 batteries make distruption minimal. My one criticism is that the camera turns off dead battery well before the indicator suggests it would. It has done so several times around the 25 mark.
paul –
just shot my first feature film on this camera and im in love with it. having used the original BMPCC for years, this newer version is not only higherres, but solves so many of the operation issues from the original version. i was almost crying the first day, seeing everything theyd improved.color and sharpness are great. the 6K is a great acquisition for an excellent, sharp 4K master. the CF cards are stupid expensive though you may still want one for car mounts, etc. like i did, but you can get an external 2TB SSD and record out through USBC for much less money.as with any camera, its only going to be as good as the glass in front of it. i used the Rokinon cine primes no metabones needed and im really happy with the results. a lot of my rigging from the original bmpcc carried over, but i did have to upgrade a few things.
Bryan –
I purchased an entire setup around the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K for my company that made the final cost around 4,000 and after using the camera twice in the office found that its lack of an alwayson or continuous autofocus is a big enough deal for me that I returned the camera. It does have an autofocus, you press a button once, the camera finds a focus point set to either the center of the screen or the a point on the touchscreen you select and it is set this is great feature for many and one I would utilize, but I also need the camera to adapt focus to a changing environment.Example I focus on an interviewee about their business and ask them to give me a tour, I need the camera to take some of the workload of finding the focus so I can think about followup question to ask I have used a Canon 77D with great success and will likely be purchasing a similar DSLR.If this camera is sitting on a overtheshoulder mount, it would probably work better for what I need it to do, but would still have limitations.Additionally, I found when the camera controls and makes changes to the iris, the lens makes a clicking noise that gets picked up on the mic. My research has shown the BMPCC6K uses a stepping iris system which is likely the cause so every time you open or close the iris, the camera sends a single for the iris to move at one step at a time and it clicks my Canon uses a smooth motion iris control so it doesnt make that noise again, this is what I have found to justify the clicking noise, it might be something else but it 100 comes from the lens and I tested multiple. For my needs the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K was not a great fit. Between the weight of the total rig and lacking continuous autofocus, I will end up spending too much time on filming projects and not enough time in the office.
Stephen –
It is a very easy camera to use. The variable ND filter buttons are easy to access due to their location. The 6k footage is pristine. It also comes with Divinci Resolve.
William R –
BMPCC 6K, Tilta Cage with Power Grip, Samsung T5 SSD, Canon 24105 stabilized zoom, FreeWorld 7 ultra bright monitor with small rig mount. The BRAW video format combined with DaVinci Resolve editing and color correction creates incredible footage. I have been shooting a Canon C100. There is a significant difference in form factor. Both cameras are shot handheld using two hands. I think I am going to like the Tilta Power Handle and BMPCC as well or better than the Canon. This lens makes it a bit front heavy but the 4 stops of image stabilization is worth it. The entire rig is a little heavy compared to my Canon 5Dsr. But the 6k footage is stunning. The menus are simple. But, this camera goes deep and thus there is a lot to learn for first time cinema camera users. The on screen image is very flat and ugly as the camera is setup to capture an image that can be manipulated in post. Thus the image is not bright. I have a screen hood from Tilta very nice for bright outdoor shooting. I will probably end up getting a viewfinder to mount to the Tilta cage. This camera uses the Canon LP E6 battery. The BM battery stinks. It will not work in your Canon camera. Additionally, the camera eats batteries. Thus, the Tilta PowerGrip which uses the large Sony F970 which will quadruple your recording time.BMPCC 6k 2500Canon 24105 1100BW UV, Polarizing, Neutral Density filter, 200Tilta Cage and Grip 450Batteries 200FreeWorld Monitor 300Small Rig monitor mount 40Samsung T5 SSD, 2 Terabytes, 280Misc. Well butter me up and call me Sally This camera has taken me on the ride of my life in the short week in which weve gotten acquainted. We went from first date to wedding bells in no time flat.In all seriousness this thing is my new workhorse. The dynamic range allows you to capture video even in less than ideal lighting situations and make the best of them, and the color science is really onpoint. The ease of operation of the menus is years ahead of the competitors, and the image quality is absolutely incredible for what youre spending. This is my new girl through and through.
Austin –
Came fast, packaged great, and unmanaged.I have been loving this camera I am an outdoor videographer and the BMPCC 6k suits all my needs.
xiao –
I like BMPCC 6K PRO very much. I am willing to give her 5 stars for the updated design, image quality and price, but now I have to give her only one star. Why shouldnt you buy this camera now Because of serious hardware quality control problems, my camera has two problems1. The flipped screen has a bluish tint,2. There are small black spots in the builtin filterThere are more problems seen on other networks. You can search for it yourself.
Kenneth –
For those who are more advanced, this is probably a minor point. But, with other major brand cameras I have found the menu operation quite clunky. That is not the case with the BMPCC 6K. It is intuitive and takes very little time to get the feel of what settings you need to get started and how to explore the menu for more advanced features. It is well done. Enjoying my purchase.
Misael –
This is the poor mans cinema camera, you cannot go wrong. The only thing I wish,is that it can have a metabones adopter. Which it does not. It works really well though and it is the best deal than any DSLR.
Jonathan –
Obviously there are some downsides to the BMPC6K like very short battery life, but it is an incredible camera that captures great images I already have several great Canon lenses, so the 6K EF mount is the perfect choice.
Nicolas –
For sure this is not the best camera on the market but for this price range… Impossible to beat itI love the picture and its perfectly match with the RED footage
HIEU –
Awesome cinema camera. High 13 dynamic range make a big difference and love braw. Able to change the white balance, iso and other setting in post help a lots. For the price, I highly recommend this cinema camera.
DUKE –
One of the best affordable cinema cameras in the industry. Love the quality of the images, especially the BRAW footage has so much more potential to be creative in post.
DEJUAN –
I love this camera Although I did not receive the memory card because they were out of stock, this camera has not disappointed me yet
Evangelos –
Amazing camera, I was completely blown away by its image quality and ease of use.BUTThe HDMI port stopped working after 1 shoot for no reason. This is a problem many other people have encountered. I sent the camera back today, waiting on a repairreplacement.I would 100 recommend this camera, just a bit scary to use the HDMI
Aaron –
Remember glass is very important but dang this camera is trick. We are have 3 now. Look the camera is great. Battery life is not great so buy a external battery and also buy a T5 drive to record to. Shoot in raw 121 and it will be the fastest workflow ever. We are extremely happy with this camera.
James –
Great quality camera. I bought this to use as a b camera to my RED Raven. The raw 6k capability is convenient for the price and the dual iso makes low light shooting on the go much more manageable. Be aware that this does not fit on most stabilizer due to its awkward design. I have it on my ronins but the setup needs to be very specific to make it work.
Robert –
I really like this camera. Its a great deal for a 6k camera that records in RAW. It may not be the right fit for someone shooting networklevel episodic programming but for medium budget commercials and industrial work, its fantastic.
A.J. –
Pocket 4K guy here who had many great shoots with it despite a repair order which was fixed and sent back very quickly. Jumped at this and Im glad I did. The pocket had taken over my super 35 camera as a main camera for the ease of use with DaVinci, small size and amazing color science. Back to super 35 with this and native EF mount and forget how much I like the larger sensor. All in all a great purchase.
Timothy –
Would give it 5stars if it had some internal ND filters, but thats just being stubborn. Overall, this is a great camera. Had a problem with a dud on first purchase, but easily returned and got another.Great compliment to my Canon C100 Mark II, great for green screen and onset.
Martin –
Very powerful camera. Very easy to navigate menus. Main issue which I would like to see fixed is lack of continuous autofocus.
SEAN –
Image is amazing. Braw is amazing. The menu is the best menu out there. This is a Cinema camera so rigging is necessary. 6k at 2000.00 is a no brainer.
ron –
Really should be 4.5 stars. Having owned the Ursa Mini 4.6, I wanted to add this as a B camera and also as a low light camera 3200 native ISO in addition to 400 which was a limitation with the Ursa Mini in situations where lighting the scene wasnt possible or convenient. For the price, theres nothing out there that captures this kind of image. The interface is great, just like the Ursa Mini. The only real drawback is that you have to rig it a bit more than you might prefer for a pocket or compact system, but definitely not a deal breaker. As many have said, the battery life is a joke, so youll either need to go with their battery grip or the Vello, etc. for a few hours use, or go with a vmount or gold mount system for a typical production day.The lack of a tiltable screen also requires the addition of a monitor to avoid squatting in unattractive positions for a view. All that said, Ive gotten terrific imagery that perfectly matches my Ursa Mini in a much smaller package.
Caleb –
I have only been able to test and play around with it for a few days, but wow. The things that this camera does are quite amazing especially at this price point. It does need to be rigged up in a cage, but all cinema cameras do so I cant really look at that as a valid concern. You will have to spend anywhere from 400 to possibly above 1500 to unlock the full potential of this camera. Obviously, the more money you spend rigging it, the better quality parts you will have usually. Having done this for many cameras in the past here is my advice spend the money and only cry once.As far as rigging there are plenty of great cages out there by smallrig, tilta, 8Sinn, etc. You will need a monitor with it as the rear screen, while quite good, does not swivel which makes it impossible to see at certain angles. You will need a battery solution. I went with Tiltas battery grip, but there are plenty of V mount, Gold mount, Sony NPF and other battery solutions out there. You will need some kind of recording media. I recommend SSDs. They are much cheaper per gigabyte than SD cards and C fast cards. You will need hard drives to store your media. A lot of them. You will need a relatively fast computer to be able to preview and edit the files although, I am blown away by how well the footage plays back. I have a moderate gaming computer with pretty mid grade specs and i can play full res 6K raw files back with a color grade applied with no problem. There are other bits and pieces that you need to be aware of before investing in this camera. This is not a DSLR nor is it designed to operate like one. Ultimately, be prepared to spend a good chunk of change to rig the camera up and make it ergonomic and usable. Once you do, however, the images are simply fantastic. Dynamic range is great. Resolution is, of course, stupendous. The footage is VERY malleable, meaning it can be pushed and pulled in color grading much more than any DSLR camera could hope to be capable of. I have used Cinema cams like the C300, panasonic EVA 1, sony fs7, blackmagics own ursa mini pro and worked with RED footage from some of the lower tier RED cameras. The image quality out of this camera is simply the best I have used.I wanted to write an actual review seeing as how the others on here seem to only be worried about scratches on the camera body. Weird that they are experiencing that. Personally, I would not care if mine did come scratched out of the box. The price to value of what youre getting is off the charts anyways. In conclusion, if you are willing to invest in a proper rig for this cam, you cannot possibly be disappointed with the images coming out of it. If, however, youre looking for a vlogging camera or something that shoots a decent image with relatively low learning curve and ease of use, well, there are plenty of DSLRs out there that will do the job just fine.
Geoff R. –
In terms of image quality for the pound spent I think this is hard to beat but dont expect DSLR convenience you actually have to work a bit. The build is good but, as the manual warns, if you want to mount any nontrivial accessories you will need a cage. Battery life, using the single internal battery is pretty terrible not unexpected. Be prepared to buy some accessories. As a digital cinema camera body pretty amazing value.
A –
I got one of the first ones, but mine had scratches all over it and the grip where the card slot is, was loose. Dont believe me Check out Matts review on Newshooter, he talks about these scratches being a commonthing. The image is great, and the recording options are fantastic for such a inexpensive camera, but the rolling shutter was really bad.
Kelsey –
The image this camera produces is spectacular BH sent it out real quick and I couldnt be happier with it It is a much larger camera than I expected. It is impressive in quality. Not for vloggers It is a cinema camera.
Bryan –
Was pretty excited to get this on the initial release date but the camera was in terrible condition when it arrived. The screen had scratches around the side, there were scratches all over the body and even two small chips near the mount. There was also glue or grease couldnt tell what it was all over the lens cap and parts of the body. Ive purchased dozens of cameras of all price ranges for work and this thing looked like it had been used for a few months before being packaged and given to me. I just looked it up have seen others with similar experiences. Watched a YouTube review of it and unboxing and as they pulled it out I could tell their lens cap had stuff all over it as well. As much as I love bm, this shouldnt be happening. Returned mine waiting to see what the next one looks like.
Keith –
This camera is the best value on the market bar none. The 6K image is absolutely stunning and it truly inspires me as I use it. As a professional DP, I work with a lot of different cams and while this has some drawbacks from a functionality standpoint, they can easily be worked around. The three biggest issues I have with the camera are the battery life well documented, the lack of recording options compared to the 4K model and the severely cropped 120fps. There are many ways to power the camera, so battery life is not the end of the world, but something they need to address in future models. This isnt a deal breaker for me as a Canon user I have tons of LPE6 batteries. However, I was disappointed to see that you cant record 4K in Braw like the 4K model and then you cant record Prores in 6K. So the options are limited. The 120fps is severely cropped 3.3X on this camera which is a bummer because thats one of the main reasons I bought the camera. There are also a few software glitches that I hope gets worked out soon with a firmware update. However, its hard to be upset about anything on this cam. Blackmagic is really pushing the limit and providing insane value with their products.
Bronson –
Dont believe the negative reviews. This camera is fantasticI recently purchased the camera and put it to the test in the British Columbian mountains and WOW, it did not disappointCheck out the film I used it on and you be the judge.httpsvimeo.com375375323The film features, aerials, misty trees, helicopters, rolling valleys, unforgiving mountain peaks, grizzly bears and jumping salmon just to name few.For anyone thinking about making the jump from the Sony A7 line like myself. Just do it You wot regret it
Ken –
Beautiful image Great camera. Runs through batteries like no ones business and randomly shuts off. But, overall, I love it. In some ways, more than my Canon c200.
Devin –
I love this camera. I have a bunch of canon lenses. so, this was a no brainer. I made lots of videos with this cam and I am so surprised by how much it looks like a movie. Be aware that you will still end up spending lots of money on accessories but its all worth it in the end.
Logan –
Ive been eying the BMPCC cameras for several years, but only run Canon EF glass. I didnt want to mess with adapters or have to buy new glass. When the 6K came out with the EF mount, I knew it was time. I switched from shooting video with my Canon 6D to this, and my mind is blown. The dynamic range and color info these files keep are incredible And the UI and button layout are perfect. I use it on a Crane Lab 3 gimbal and couldnt be happier.
Mario –
This is my third Blackmagic Design camera and I just love what this company has done for the creator industry. Beautiful footage and ease of use at a fraction of the cost. I am happy with this purchase Give it a shot
ADAM –
Such a great camera at such a low price. I was worried about letting my ol C100 Mkii go, but Im completely satisfied with this move
Dietrich –
Being a newbie to Black Magic Design, at first I was kind of unsure if Id like this camera, but now after using it for several shoots Im lovin itIts got great DR, its user interface is super easy to pickup, and I love the EFmount so I can use all of my old Canon lenses especially, the Sigma 1835mm that everyone seems to get and for good reason. I also enjoy its smaller form factor…although I built a full shoulderrig for this thing so, haha, I guess that doesnt count. The two weaknesses I knew about before I got the camera were the weak internal battery life and the storage requirements. Once you solve those two issues though, I feel like this camera really sings.Coming from a GH5 as my Acam, it was kind of disheartening to lose the IBIS and the familiarity with controls, but given the fact I can shoot wider and recrop shots to distribute in 4K, plus for the current price this thing is ridiculously awesome and I recommend it.Just my two cents though.
Ronald –
I will start off by saying this is my first cinema camera and there was quite of a learning curve. I did not know I would have to purchaseupgrade my storage as my existing 128GB SD cards are useless. Beyond that, the quality of this camera, hardware, software, picture, everything is amazing. This camera will surely upgrade your quality from a DLSR to the next level.
David –
The sensor size makes all the difference. I felt like the micro four thirds looked fantastic but something about didnt make me feel like it was a cinema camera, the images sometimes felt muddy. But this one definitely bumped it up and I really feel like this is a cinema camera. Better highlights and recovery better 4K image and future proofing yourself. Also cleaner Noise from the higher isos. Great job black magic
Philip –
This is the best camera ive ever owned. Its perfect for cinema style shooting, definitely not run and gun, and with the proper accessories cage, external battery, Ill be using it for years.
William –
This camera is everything I wanted and more. Beautiful images that are easy to work with. My computer works better with the braw files then with trying to edit drone or phone footage.
Michael –
Was on the fence about adding a used pocket cinema camera 4k or 6k as a 3rd camera. Wow the screen is bright. With the 6k pro rigging the camera for use is not needed now. Parring it with an URSA mini pro works and looks great. Only issue, makes the URSA feel outdated with the new gen color science. Best portable Cinema camera so far.
Alan –
I own one. Id like to own more than one. Someday I will own many. This is a very good camera, that doesnt cost very much money. I like it.

This camera has been incredible to work with. Certainly different than shooting with a DSLR where I came from, but in almost every way an improvement. The stops of dynamic range are incredibly powerful for color correction, the resolution it captures is amazing, and the controls are intuitive. There is no reason you couldnt shoot anything from wedding videos to feature films with this bad boy.The two things I can see that might really get people coming from DSLR is first the workflow. You may need an extra step or two to work with braw especially if you are not using Davinci Resolve second, it is quite a bit heavier and then even more so with your extra gear on top.For me, I added the SmallRig with a Samsung T5 and an added battery pack the builtin battery is known for not lasting very long. I used the Rode VideoMic NTG for run and gun. My lens are already EF mount. So this is all I really needed to get shooting.

I use two Blackmagic 6k cameras. Usually in a controlled environment. The picture that comes out of the 6K is incredible The 6K is easy to use and has many features. The battery life does suck Fortunately many solutions out there to solve the battery problem.Things extra that will enhance your experience while using the BMCC6K.. External Monitor, 5inch. Battery Grip, VMount, etc… External HD at least 1 Terabyte. 256cf Cards or UP Pricy. Camera Cage. Fast Lenses F3 or faster. Fast Computer, Minimum 32gb of Ram shooting in 4k and up. Camera Case. Warranty

I love this camera The footage it captures is professional and Im very happy with what it can do.It comes with Da Vinci Resolve 16 for free.It was shipped very quickly, and required a person to be at home upon delivery or you can set up to pick it up at local station, so you dont have to worry about such an expensive package being stolen. The only downside is that you cant just buy this camera and start to use it right out of the box. You need everything, a lens, a battery the one it comes with is about 30 minutes of power, memory, a cage to hold it together. Its fun to customize it, but can be a lot more money.

The images coming out of my BMPCC 6K are very good. I am quite pleased so far. The feature set for the price is ground breaking, in my opinion. Of course there are some features left out that make this price point possible. But they are simply things to keep in mind to plan for, not things that I would say detract from the camera itselfevery camera has its idiosyncrasies, and you just need to know what they are.So far, this is what Ive foundNo continuous autofocus. AF is accomplished by holding on the touch screen where to focus or pressing the AF button to focus on center frame. It works fine. But plan on getting a focus pull system. No image stabilization. This is a problem only if youre handholding all the time. You can, however, use stabilization in lenses that have it.BIG files. Plan on an external SSD I use the Samsung T5 1tb. Internal SDs and CFast cards can work for run and gun type situations or on a gimbal.Use a cage. I like the Tilta cage system for this. NOTE REMOVE THE TILTA LOGO PIECE before mounting, otherwise you will scratch up your new BMPCC. With that piece off, everything fits great. For the price of shipping, Tilta is offering a replacement logo that wont scratch up the 6K.BRAW is native only in Davinci Resolve so far. Some have had success using BRAW in Premiere with the help of a 3rd party plugin. I attempted this, but Premiere crashed on me every time I tried to edit that footage. But I prefer to edit in Resolve anyway, so that is not an issue for me.The rolling shutter is not awful, but it is there. If you do a lot of whip pans, maybe reconsider this camera. Otherwise, footage is perfectly useable. Shutter readout is faster than the Nikon Z6.It is difficult to balance this camera on a hand gimbal because of the body width. But it is not impossible. You have to offset the mount, which puts the lens weight offcenter. Compensating for that offset pushes the gimbal hardware to its physical limits. Have been able to balance on the RoninS, and its just a little bit easier on the Moza Air2.The footage out of here looks incredible once RAW development is properly applied. The footage is a joy to work with. Easy to color correct and grade, and match with other cameras. I have had some success matching the footage with my Panasonic EVA1. More testing to come.On a whole, I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a good cinema camera on a middling budget. Just keep in mind the cameras limitations, and you wont regret it.

Im not a huge fan of the dullness of shooting raw, but the color correction ability is amazing. I definitely recommend downloading some LUTS though.

Im not a vlogger or person who complains about builtin ND filters or Autofocus system. For me, as Cinematographer, Video Editor, and Colorist, the main reason to buy this camera was the final result of the cinematic picture I filmed. The colors and possibility of BRAW files are very close to RED camera quality and sometimes even better the Noise Reduction is amazing. Skin tones, Dynamic range, contrast, midtone details, and many other small features are the biggest benefits for me. I dont even talk much about 6K resolution or the size of the camera. For 2499 price tag this is unbeatable in all ways. And I would like to repeat, this is a Pocket the size CINEMA Camera in compare with other brands that are under 10K price and even more. Yes, you need to rig it up and a lot of additional techs to buy, but overall this is my best purchase for the last decade and next camera will be Ursa g3 I hope. Good luck

Upgrading from the regular 6K, the only things I regularly found myself wishing for were builtin ND filters, a screen that swivels, and one more XLR input. NOW ITS ALL HERE Love this camera so much.

Camera works great. Very impressed with the images and they cut really well with our RED. The small sizeweight has allowed for easier gimbal use.Only flaw is that the camera body had some minor scuff marks on it when we received it which seems to be a somewhat common theme with the initial shipments.

I was excited to get this camera, and it didnt let me down. Only had time to use it on one shoot so far, but it outshined all of the other cameras. Battery life is pretty short, but that was expected. I have a big vmount battery though, so thats not an issue. This is an amazing camera, especially given the price

I shoot for TV with atem mini from blackmagic and this camera works perfectly for studio production. Not just that it also functions excellently in my film production. I will recommend it, absolutely phenomenal. Thanks you BH for your service

Easy to use. Best ergonomics and menus of any camera manufacturer. With this camera, I can get the shot. Thats what counts.

Great camera, running through the paces, got it rigged out and so far so good. No issues, I know about all the flaws like the battery, so you just have to make it work for you. I am very pleased with the video quality.

The BMPCC is a great cinema camera for a reasonable price. The 6k BRAW you get out of this camera is incredible.
