Brilliant router and installed in about 5 minutes and range covers our large 3 storey Edwardian house. Absolutely no problems at all with this. I’ve just upgraded to Fibre optic and this router just plugged straight into the BT Fibre Modem and the setup was so easy with the CD supplied. Just needed to note down the SSID and passphrase of bottom of router to enter into computer when asked to do so. I like the USB socket for printer and hard drive backup and have used this to plug in my external hard drive and again no problem getting it to work and back up data. Router webpage interface so easy to navigate. I like Belkin routers and dongles as I’ve always had them to replace supplied routers from ISP’s as the range is good and reliability is good as well. All in all I’d highly recommend this router. Remember it is a ‘cable ‘router so separate modem needed. One person found this helpful

The router was used as an extension to our homehub5 from bt to eliminate the need for an ethernet switch for my console and pc and to improve wifi reception. I was previously using an old homehub3 we had lying in a drawer for that same reason, but having experimented with streaming media from my pc to my tablet, I decided to upgrade to something more robust. The setup was a doddle and took about 5 minutes – in my case (connecting to an existing network) the auto settings worked a treat. There is a setting for an access point only mode, but the default setting, which set up a separate network, was better suited for my setup. The broadband tester speeds I get on my pc with a wired connection are the same as when connected straight to the main router, and the 5ghz wifi streams fullhd content from pc to an ipad with no problems whatsoever. All in all a great product, especially at the £60 price I paid for it.

This piece of kit is perfect for my needs. It boasts about having an easy setup CD but I only used that to get at the very detailed pdf manual that was on the disk. I didn’t want to use the setup CD because that would have added cludge to my startup routines and had something else running in the background that I don’t need. I plugged the router into the power socket and then plugged the ethernet lead into the BT modem. That was it. Job done. We are a family with 2 desktop computers, 2 laptops, 4 android smartphones, 2 Xbox 360s, a Wii, a smart telly and smart blu-ray all of which connect to the broadband hub, hosted by Talk Talk. Each of these instantly found the wireless SSID broadcast and simply entering the password resulted in instant connectivity. All items are now working far better than they did before. I have all the smartphones and the laptops connecting with the 5 Ghz connection and the others using the old frequency. I used to have an old Belkin router that worked wonderfully and did so for years. Then, about 18 months ago I switched to Fibre Optic and the router wasn’t suitable. I used the Talk Talk router that was provided, but having had two of them and still getting problems with the VPN connection going up and down like a thing possessed, was delighted when the installation of this router took all of that away. My VPN connection is now as smooth as a silk, with no dropouts! I’ve also changed the Network Name and the password and removed the guest access. All of this was simple to do via the 192.168.2.1 address and even this IP address can be changed if you wish, should you have any clashes with a VPN connection, for instance. I notice that someone said that each change caused the router to reboot, and they are right. It would be nice if you could bundle up these changes and then reboot the router just the once. That said, its used as a home network and didn’t cause me much grief. The only negative I have about this router is its size! It’s certainly bigger than I expected. It’s just over 20 cms (8 inches) tall by the same depth. The cables all fit into the back end of the tower which means that you are going to need a shelf that can accommodate about 25-30 cms of depth, unless you want cables sticking unpleasantly out the side! However, it is aestethically pleasing and for its size it sort of blends in without being obnoxious! None of this is sufficient for me to remove a star but I just mention it, if space is an issue where you want to place this router. It is quite large and can only stand vertically, there is no horizontal positioning. Overall, I’m delighted with the Belkin N750. My old router is still working in my fathers house, replacing the ‘free’ router he had from PlusNet. If this router works just half as well as my last Belkin then I will be very happy. As I’ve only just installed it, I cannot comment on complaints by other about it stopping working after two weeks or so. If it does, I’ll let you know. If not, then I’ll keep on smiling

While I’m normally pretty technologically literate, WIFI and networks is something I’ve always struggled with, and have had on occasion difficulty setting up. Not however the case with this router, it was incredibly easy to install, plug it in, connect your computer to it, download updates, scan for internet connection and done! The installation wizard does it all automatically and really makes the whole process hassle free. In terms of speed and connection it is very fast, able to support streaming in HD as well as online gaming without any lagging. I have been able to use multiple devices at the same time with quite internet intensive activities without a huge drop off in speed, and thus far it hasn’t dropped a connection once. I only live in a relatively small apartment, so its harder to comment on its range, however it is strong enough to connect to my phone from my complexes lift, which is quite some distance away and is usually a dead zone for all signals. Very impressive little router for the price. Fast, reliable, stable, far reaching and easy to install. What more can you ask for! 13 people found this helpful

Pros: – Inexpensive – Very easy setup – Fast connection – Reliable connection – Wireless N compatible Cons: – No inbuilt modem – Slow to reconnect to – Slightly dissapointing range My earlier review is the reason why I normally wait a few days before reviewing anything. In my earlier review I unjustly said that this router was too slow, but all that has changed now. I purchased this router to save me having to keep moving my ethernet cable between my laptop, Xbox 360 and other devices as well as to grant my iPod with internet. Setting up this router was very quick and simple. It’s certainly well designed, but not exactly expensive looking (top end expensive). It’s definitely not out off place in the bedroom or living room setting. The instructions were easy to follow and came printed on a card. It really is as easy as they make it seem to set up, within about 10 to 15 minutes of opening the box I was up and running (possibly shorter, I wasn’t timing). The only issue I ran into was the Belkin software on the CD asking me to run setup when it was already set up and in use. Connecting to the router is a piece of cake. Belkin provides you with a card with the preset username and password. From there it’s really easy to connect to it. However, the router proved a little bit slow to allow devices to connect to it. This is true for both new devices on the network and previously connected devices. Once connected though the router is pretty impressive. Initially (when I first reviewed this), it was giving me very slow load times. My games were lagging out or stating they had poor connection (Tekken mainly), internet pages (mostly YouTube) loaded incredibly slowly or didn’t finish loading at all. It would get my full internet speed, but that wouldn’t translate to actual performance. Tinkering with a few settings seems to have done the trick though. Switching off Quality of Service and switching the bandwith to 20/40MHz has upped the speed tremendously. Pages are loading virtually instantly and games are completely lag free (apart from the ocassional bad connection and Tekken). I’ve even done a performance test where I streamed and HD YouTube video at the same time as gaming online. The first time I did this, the game lagged out horribly and no YouTube videos would load at all. Since changing around settings though, I was able to stream two HD YouTube videos on two different devices as well as game online simultaneously. All lag free. This router handles gaming and video streaming with ease. As I said in the previous paragraph, it’s capable of supporting multiple devices at once without trouble. The router is also inexpensive at the price I got it for (Bits N PCs) and is also wireless N comppatible. The wireless N capability is certainly a big plus and the settings changes appear to be making the best of this. The connection this router offers up is very reliable. I have not once had a dropped connection (although it’s only been 24 hours)apart from when I was tinkering with settings and it had to reboot. The range is acceptable for what I am using it for, however as far as routers go it could be much better. The one thing that does annoy me with this product though is the lack of an inbuilt modem. This is a router, and router only, so if you don’t already have a modem you will need to get one. I probably should have read the description better before purchasing, but this could have also been made more prominent. All in all, this appears to be a very good router that gets the job done. It’s quick once you connect and gives as solid connection. Some people may need to alter a few settings to get the best out of it though. The inclusion of 4 ethernet ports and a USB port are a nice touch. I haven’t used the USB port yet, but from what I understand it lets you share files among devices on the network. The router also allows for guest networks, which means if you have people round often they can still have internet. WPS (not yet tested) which allows one button connection to your devices is a useful feature (but all of my devices are set to connect automatically). However, the lack of an inbuilt modem means that this could be a little bit cheaper for what it offers (but I don’t know too much about routers so I could be wrong). Time will tell if it stays this way The streaming tests with YouTube were run with 3 devices connected to the network === Quick word on the seller (Bits N PCs) === Very fast delivery, arrived before the expected delivery date. 2 people found this helpful

I am a technophile but am not a techknowitall. I love gadgets and love them the most when they are simple to set up and use, and deliver what they promise. The Belkin N750 fulfils all of my criteria. I cheated completely on this. I have neither BT infinity nor a cable connection (which the box states this is designed for). I have been using my Sky modem router with a Netgear Rangemax (great in its heyday, now seriously out of date) piggy=backed onto it simply by connecting it into one of the LAN ports usually meant for a PC or laptop. The sky router fed the signal to the Netgear, which then spread it about my house. This worked well initially, and over the last year the efficiency of the Rangemax has decreased considerably. This is, I think, completely due to the proliferation of wireless, bluetooth and wifi enabled gadgets in the house. I took a chance that the Belkin would piggy-back successfully in the same way -and it did! I now have a reliable and fast wifi signal throughout the house and down to the bottom of the garden (maybe 40 yards from the Belkin), and video and music streaming has improved immeasurably. Media streaming is what this router was designed for, and it does the job well. My Internet radio finds stations very quickly and there is no break in playback -as there was frequently with the old router. Set up was simplicity itself. I was up and running within 5 minutes. No hardwire connection to a computer needed -with the installation disc in a laptop, full control of the unit is done wirelessly. It provided me with a main network, and a guest network, each with their own passwords. The guest network allows internet access only and no possibility of control of the unit or other networked equipment. Great for kids and their freinds. I have to admit to ignorance and that I don’t fully understand all the techie stuff that other reviews go on about. What I can tell you is that this router does what it claims to do, it looks good, with (thankfully) understated lighting -one blue LED- and is a cinch to set up -very little technical knowledge needed. How refreshing! Very highly recpmmended AA 5 people found this helpful
