Got the 32 Gig version to replace my decades old version. I guess the best way to describe this is shaving with work gloves on your hands. Not a lot of discrimating detail available on menus. Could have been much better, though it is fine as it is.What it does it does very well we use it to mirror apple devices mostly. The remote is way cool, I have to admit touch reactive is addictive once you learn the quirks.Overall a fine choice for the iOS ecosystem

Love this device Initially bought to use to stream Netflix, Prime video and other streaming apps. I was dissatisfied with my LGs built in streaming apps as streaming was constantly disrupted although I hardwired the internet connection. The Apple 4K TV did not disappoint on that front and surpassed any of my expectations by offering so much more content and functionality. After 2 weeks and constant viewing show, movies seamlessly stream without interruptions. Additionally the Apple TV remote is amazing with its simplicity, touch screen navigation and built in Siri. I never imagined that the remote and Apple TV tech would improve in app navigation. For example Netflix or Prime, fast forwarding or rewinding is either a simple click, swipe, push or ask Siri to fast forward 30 minutes. Additionally a swipe down on the remote brings up a simpler intuitive menu. Menu button is multi purpose and convenient. There is an abundance of apps to watch other content including Live tv. Want to watch the NBA finals Click on the microphoneSiri button and state what you want to watch, including movies. iTunes movies is very easy to bring up many movies that you might not have on your subscription service. Im also an Apple Music owner and the incorporation of that with my set up was seamless. Now with a simple click or ask Siri I can enjoy music on my home theater. There is still more to explore including screen mirroring content from my iPhone or iPad. The Apple TV works seamless with my iPhone and IPad which is very helpful when you have to do a search or type in your Apple ID password, the virtual keyboard pops up on your phone or iPad for easier typing or even use your Face ID for stored passwords. As far as watching 4K and Dolby Vision content, it is amazing and comes very close to physical media4K blu ray discs. Just make sure that you go to settingsAudio and Video and set it to 4K SDR, then turn on Match Dynamic Range and Match frame rate and turn off Dolby vision. This allows the Apple TV 4K to display the content as it was intended instead of forcing everything through a layer of Dolby Vision. You will not be happy if Dolby Vision is on when the TV itself or movie or content does not have Dolby Vision coding or capability…looks like crap. When the content has Dolby Vision and you have a Dolby Vision capable TV the Match Dynamic Range and Frame rate options allow the content to display the Dolby Vision automatically. So in short, the device is amazing and surpassed my expectations and continues to surprise with additional features and tech that I continuously discover. For what I use it for, it absolutely replaces my cable box. A word of advice go for the 32GB version instead of the 64. You will never need the additional internal storage as most apps have minimal space and most people will not hardcore game on the device itself.

I absolutely love the Apple TV I purchase at Best Buy. I was able to tell the door attendant what I was there for and he contacted his associate inside the store who was waiting for me with my item. I was able to check out quickly and be back in my car within 20 minutes. The Apple TV was easy to install and get up and running. I was able to quickly find the series I was looking for and even quickly figured out how to place subtitles. I find the Apple TV easy to maneuver and easy to return to cable tv when done watching. The entire process of buying, setting up and watching was very quick and easy to operate. If you want your item immediately I would highly recommend going to Best Buy, telling them what you want, buying it and leaving the store all very quickly and efficiently. Thank you Best Buy……

4K is pretty cool, but more processing power is what I was looking for. The unit is more responsive, as I upgraded from a HD AppleTV with 64GB. This unit is a 32GB option. 4K is there and so are other HDR options. Remote is still same form factor the ring on the menu button. Helpful for orientation but still has its fan and haters. I often as with the AppleTV use my iPhone AppleTV App but even with a virtual keyboard the iphone cannot control volume for a AV receiver nor TV. Great device made for Apple Eco System ITunes, Amazon Prime Video, NetFlix and a bunch of apps. I am not a gamer but there are some available. AirPlay is really cool for a household with iPads and iPhones and laptops to share content on a big screen.

since HBO max and Peacock werent on Roku, we started thinking about getting the Apple TV. What sold us was that we can easily cast from our apple phonespads to the apply tv box and thereby to the tvsound system. Nice No more arguments. wohooGot it from best buy since it was available sameday while amazon showed 3 days before it would be delivered. The main drawback so far is the remote has a touchy touchpad on the end to use to get through the onscreen menus. we have encountered several oops selections when just moving the goofy remote. Other than that, we I love this almost as much as our Roku.

Apple TV remains a brilliant product. Now it is faster and the remote works considerably better. It is difficult to justify in the era of smart TVs and Sky Q with those services offering essentially the same options without the need for a separate box or couple of hundred pound spend. It is however much quicker and more personalised than those mentioned before and more pleasing to use. You also have the option of airplay and Apple Arcade games on your TV. A really great product but not a huge leap over a decent smart TV

I purchased a newer Apple TV anticipating that I would need it to stream Disney, not realizing that the TVs that I wasnt sure would support the app would actually see it pop up on launch day. I still didnt regret the purchase, because we have other uses for the device. It remains a very sleek device. I have enjoyed receiving the free year of Apple TV the shows. Really, my only complaint is with the remote. The thing is just TOO small. The remote for my older version is also too small. They are always falling off of the armrest of the chair or couch, and because of their size they ALWAYS find the crevices and fall most of the way through, causing me to have to scramble onto all fours and flipping the furniture until I can free the remote. The new remote has even more complications thanks to its touch sensitive navigation. Im forever nudging the edge of it while trying to put it down, causing a navigation screen or options to pop up on the screen. It is really frustrating to be in the middle of trying to watch something only to have to fight with the remote in order to clear the distractions off of the screen.Again, the device itself is great, and the remote works well when you are actually trying to use it purposefully. It just needs to learn to stop being so sensitive to the slightest bump and to not jump into the furniture every time I take my eye off of it. Is that too much to ask
Lito –
As usual, this unit exceed my expectation. It is very easy to setup and use although the remote makes you think at first and get familiarize. It is also fast in moving from one app to another as you dont need to logoff and login when you close the previous app. Opening an app is quicker than any other devices I own like Samsung Bluray players have 2 with smart apps and PS3PS4. Though it is more expensive than Amazon Firestick and Cube, I still like it because of it is very easy to use the mirroring feature from my cell to the Apple TV due to full compatibility and no need to install additional app. If you have a budget, I highly recommend this.

I exchanged the shield pro for this item. The shield was great, but getting Dolby visionatmos to work for all the apps is a pain. It varies from app to app as to what wants to work. Also, as of the time I had the shield, you could only have one YouTube account logged in at a time. This was unpleasant for my girlfriend and myself. The Apple TV just works. I wasnt getting Dolby atmosvision through my receiver, but it was just an incompatible hdmi cable. The only gripe that I have is that while the remote is okay with the touchpad, it makes typing cumbersome. You can use your phone with the remote app, but that gets annoying quickly. It is smart enough to control my receiver volume though, which I like. Ill take the clunky remote issue as long as I get my video and audio quality.

I bought the fourth generation 4G Apple TV to replace my third generation one. I wasnt sure it was really worth it when I made the purchase as I have no interest in gaming and the only problem with my previous Apple TV was that the remote control started to malfunction. However, I have been absolutely delighted with the newer version. The new remote is far more advanced and intuitive entering terms into the search bar is easy and quick and ITV and All4 can now be added to the main menu screen, aswell as Prime, Netflix and YouTube, etc. I no longer have to use my iPhone to stream but it can be used as a remote. One of the best pieces of new technology I have bought in years
MattG –
Its more expensive than the competition. It just is. However, it provides the most refined experience, and the widest range of content. If youre a cablecutter, you can add YouTube TV, or Hulu Live TV, and that app will replace your cable TV. No more payments for renting settop cable boxes. It also has AirPlay, mirrors content from iPhones and iPads, and works flawlessly with AirPod headphones. The remote is a technical marvel…. it has a capacitive touchscreen and voice control but I wish Apple would release a bigger and cheaper remote.

I bought this to replace a Google Chromecast and I am blown away by the sheer number of things that it can do. My TV is 4K UHD with HDR and the picture output from the device is beautiful. I love the Apple Music and Homekit integration. You can also set different profiles depending on how many people will be using the device. I bought the 32GB model and have had no issues with space or the device getting slower. Overall, this purchase was a good one. If youre thinking about buying one, do it, you will not be disappointed.

With Smart TVs and cheaper options like roku, chromecast and firestick it seems indulgent to buy the Apple TV 4K. That said , it does delivers quality streaming video if you are trying to stream 4K content. The overall user experience is great. I find the remote scroll pad sensitive and prefer the older remotes. I am seeing issues with the Prime video app on the apple tv, but I am not sure if it is a problem with the app or the apple tv.Overall it is definitely a nice to have device and I dont see it as a game changer. Like I said it is a good purchase if you are building an Apple ecosystem.
malikjaevon14 –
Let me tell you about this thing. Its a great streaming device without an iPhone or iPad but its even greater with an iPhone or iPad. The remote touch pad is very sensitive but its accurate as heck, Siri works great so if Siri on your phone can already control your lights or turn other things on or off around the house then those same Siri features will work on the Apple TV as well. You can even download games on this thing even Apple Arcade games and I believe HomeKit is on it as well. My favorite features are the ability to spell out exactly what your looking for or if you need to input a password or username for something you can literally speak into the remote and say Capital P, a, s, s, w, o, r, d and you dont have to speak slowly because Siri will keep up as if you are spelling your password or username to a real person. My other favorite feature is the input sync feature. This means once a text input field is opened on your Apple TV, your iPad or iPhone logged in to the same Apple ID as your Apple TV will receive a prompt to use your mobile device to type instead of using your Apple TV remote or voice. The remote is super small and easy to lose so I recommend putting a sticky Tile device on the back of it. The remote uses lighting usb to charge so your iPhone usb cable will work. You can also use your phone or iPad as a remote for the Apple TV from the control center and its been flawless ever since. I think I only had to charge my Apple TV remote once since I had it.

I really dont like the interface. The remote is great, but it is hard to know which item the mouse is on with the new flat look. I have to move away from the selected item to know which item is selected. Other than that and the fact that the items purchased online and those purchased and copied to my iTunes library from disc are not together in the menu, this is great.I have it connected through a Denon AVRS540BT to an LG 4k monitor. I use my iPhone as the remote for both the Denon and the Apple TV. The Apple TV is able to control the volume on the Denon with either the remote of the app.

This is my first Apple product. The physical design is understated elegance. Build quality is first rate. The software is intuitive and responsive. Apple support is excellent. Overall great product.Ill remain a Windows PC user for high performance computing. However, I can certainly understand the popularity of Apple entertainment devices. I will be purchasing the iPad Air 4th generation when it is available. I am no longer satisfied with the Android tablet experience. So PC, Android phone and iPad tablet. One confused human.
GiovanniB –
Built solid with a small footprint, great software design thats easy to navigate and very intuitive. I might add that the Channel Show The Morning Show, Ted Lasso are our two favorites selection is Great My one concern is the remote dont get me wrong, its well built but, you must be very careful not to drop it since the remote is so thin and very smooth slippery. Maybe Apple should use the Roku designed remote and modifyit slightly to fit the Apples design needs and wants. Maybe a little thicker remote and a more rubbery finish would be more suitable. Just my subjective opinion.
Cybornerd0 –
Pros 4K, Dolby Digital, Dolby Vision and HDR. All the apps for music and movies.Cons Remote is not as effective as the remote from Nvidia Shield Pro. There needs to be a mute button and a power off. The Apple TV device needs to have a power switch to power it off when not in use otherwise, the device can be wakened up by hackers.Other notes This Apple TV should be a computer and not just a media device. It should be bulkier with memory, ssd drive, USB hub etc so that it can be an Allinone Entertainment system and be able to play 4k Games.

We have two Apple TV 4k devices and this is the second one. Its easy to use, the picture quality is excellent, and it integrates well with other Apple devices we have around the house. Regarding that last point, one positive the Apple TV has over the Amazon Fire TV devices is that if you go to search for something, such as searching the TV app store, and your iPhone is nearby, the Apple TV will shoot an alert to your phone so you can use it to type in the search box instead of scrolling around letterbyletter. Thats a nice feature, especially in view of my comment below about the bundled remote. One thing to note, depending on your TVs capabilities, is that this device doesnt seem to work properly if you connect it via a switchbox for example, if your TV has two HDMI ports and you want to connect three HDMI devices. It works great when plugged directly into the TV, but I couldnt get a picture when I ran it through a Rocketfish HDMI switchbox. Thats a minor nuisance for me on this particular TV because we dont use the Bluray player very often, and I therefore did not deduct a star from my rating, but I mention it for those people for whom it could be a bigger issue. The one thing that did cause me to deduct a star is the remote. My wife, in particular, hates it. If you look at the picture in the product listing, youll see the lightercolored area above the top two buttons. Thats a touchpad, similar to the device you find on many laptops. Its how you move the cursor around the screen and how you fastforward and rewind. It can be imprecise we both much prefer the ringstyle cursor control on Amazons remote that comes with Fire TV devices. Maybe the idea is youll use the microphone for voice control instead, but I find that to be a bit hitormiss in terms of how well it works on both the Apple TV and the Amazon devices, and I also dont like fastforwarding by voice when, say, I want to skip the commercials during Jeopardy. If the remote had dedicated fastforward and rewind buttons, I would not deduct a star for the touchpad, but it doesnt. I will note that you can use your iPhone as a remote as well, but I dont much like doing that.
DonMcC –
First things first. I HATE the remote The touchscreen at the top of the remote has a hair trigger, and its super sensitivity is annoying when I inadvertently touch it and it affects whatever Im watching. Its also a pain when trying to navigate your way around the screen. I prefer directional keys for simpler operation. Now thats out of the way, I love this device Ive owned nearly every iteration of every streaming device ever made. I currently use the Roku 4K, and the Amazon Fire Cube among others. The Apple TV is a lot faster than its most worthy competitors. And unlike the others, it has HBO Max.The HDR 4K delivers a much better picture than my other devices. Siri is fairly intuitive, which is great because it precludes my having to use that annoying touchpad.Airplay makes it a breeze to share my iPad screen on my TV.You can also get a year of Apple TV when you buy a new Apple TV 4K. But dont let that be a motivating factor, Apple TV is pretty meh. But still, go buy an Apple TV 4K. Its pricey, but you get quite a bang for the buck.

Im using the Apple TV as a replacement for most of my Altice One cable TV boxes. I had been having connectivity issues and this solved the problem. As the first device was setup, I was able to use my iPhone to finish the setup details and that process became easier as I added additional services HBOMax, Disney etc.. Siri did get a little confused with some speech and I had to add the word channel CNN for example instead of just CNN as Siri would translate as see NN or would try and load up a separate app for CNN instead of going through Optimum Altice One app which is a clumsier process as we are still accessing cable just through the Apple TV. Im very happy overall. Price at Walmart was the best too. Make sure you UPDATE the software before using
lpinnell –
I connected this device to my home theater receiver, which has a display of the input signal type and number of audio channels. The Apple TV appears to be sending 7.1 pcm from Disney Plus and 5.1 from Netflix. I mention this because previously I was using a laptop with an nVidia video chip and HDMI, which only delivered two channels from Disney Plus and other services no matter how I set the nVidia driver settings. The Apple TV has a fast response, only limited by the speed of the streaming service I am currently using. The remote is a bit unusual but it became second nature to me quickly. I was able to set up a couple dozen streaming services by using my cable TV company login for no extra cost. The picture is very clear as well. The only minor thing, when I wake up the Apple TV, it sends a signal to my home theater receiver to turn on, with no ability to disable this feature for times when I dont want the home theater running, and just want the TV speakers only. The workaround is to just turn the receiver back to standby and use the HDMI pass through. Its a bit expensive but the integration to the streaming services I set up all seemed quite seamless. I am happy with it and do recommend it to those willing to spend the money on this device.
BinkyBarns –
Im in heaven, well sort of. I have struggled with streaming, Roku sticks, Amazon Fire sticks, built in television apps, PS4 gosh darn, just about every kind of streaming method, Ive tried it. And none of them hold a candle to Apple TV.Clean simple interface. A major pain in the neck to set up and get it to stick to my wireless network. But very kind Apple support got me through the worst of it, and thankfully all the nonsense connecting to my network is gone. The image is spectacular out of this thing. Seriously great. On image quality, Im comparing to built in apps on an LG C9 4K television the apps on this television do Dolby Vision. Im blown away with how fast this thing streams. I get full 4K almost instantly it always took the other streamers 30 seconds to get there. The interface is ultra clean. It is essentially an iPhone or iPad screen with apps. Since this is television, the apps used will be a small number. An incredible pleasure to navigate that home screen.OK, the downside. Like every Apple product made, there are no instructions. You have to figure out how to do things simple stuff with no real clues on how to do them. The remote has 4 buttons and volume control. And the magic touch pad at the top. It took me a long time to figure out most of the remote. Killing an app should be the same procedure as on the phone nope, double click the screen button, then select the app, and swipe up. Not the least bit intuitive.Frankly, for me there are only three buttons. That Siri microphone thing is worthless they should make that a long press on the touch pad, and put something useful in the place.Fast forwarding is really complicated. Each app seems to respond differently. Hulu, most of the time likes a double tap if there are commercial markers to move past commercials, and then a press and hold to time move forward. Philo only like single button presses to move forward, it doesnt seem to like hold and press. Criterion is the most normal, press and hold to fast forward but only at one speed. Disney acts fine sometimes, other times it shows additional information on press and hold. And sometimes that touch pad doesnt like to respond. A support person said, treat it like a cell phone screen. That has helped a bit.Yeah this is the streaming box to end all streaming boxes. It really works great. The advantage of a real processor and memory in teh box is obvious.
GLuv –
This is the streaming box by which all others compare themselves to.Brilliant 4K, hdr, seamless remote interface with tv, receiver, sound bar.Apps, quick response, complete iTunes integration. Airplay. It just works. And its brilliant.Yes its expensive. And its shocking that at 34 years old now, the price hasnt dropped. And I miss the optical audio out.But compare to the rest out there this is the best and it isnt even close.

I already have Roku, Chromecast, FireTV and ATV3. I bought this, primarily to use this for the one thing that none of these settop units do well mirroring pc or mac web browsers to a TV screen.I had much higher hopes for the ATV4k than were seeing. On the positive side It was easy to setup and produces a great viewing experience. I love the expanded use that comes with having the Apple App store theres an app for almost every imaginable purpose. All of the channels perform well… as they do on the much less expensive ATV3. The abundant apps also work well, which in itself may be a great reason for most people to upgrade to the ATV4K.On the downside I have a Macbook Early 2016 and iPhonesiPads, none of which will consistently stream Audio and Video to my ATV4K over Airplay or screen mirroring. The ATV4K has been hitmiss with the pcs on my home network too. As I said, I got this so that I could play content and video from web pages… usually NOT YouTube content there is an app for that on all the boxes. I find the inconsistent streaming very frustrating sometimes audio but no video, sometimes video but no audio and sometimes nothing at all.One other thing to note the ATV4K has a lot less types of connectivity for older tech. No USB ports, etc. Depending on existing tech and intended use, some might find this to be a real handicap.I now see that my Roku can do everything that the ATV4k can do except the apple store for half the price. I should have just saved the bucks.Oh well. I bought all of these devices for less than most people pay for 2 months of cable TV bills

I stream almost everything. Netflix, digital copies of movies through Vudu, YoutubeTV, Disney, you name it.I have a Sony Bravia TV 900e and anyone that has a relatively new Sony Bravia knows that their picture is great, however the Android TV built in is garbage. For audio, Ive got an older Samsung Dolby Atmos soundbar K850 that delivers wonderful sound. The built in OS to the Sony wasnt cutting it. I started with a Roku Stick ran through my soundbar and then out to the TV via an Audioquest Sky cable.I was fine with the Rokus picture and OS, however I ran into a few audio issues, and quickly found out everything that SHOULD be giving me Dolby Atmos audio, wasnt. After a little while, I finally gave in and spent the money and got an Apple TV 4k. From 49 to 179 I decided to invest a little more into the upgrade since I can appreciate a quality picture and above average audio, and used Audioquest Cinnamon cables from the Apple Tv to the Samsung soundbar, and then passed through another Audioquest Cinnamon cable to my Sony Bravia.COMPARED TO THE ROKU, THE VIDEO QUALITY AS WELL AS AUDIO QUALITY WENT UP TEN FOLD.On top of that, the apps themselves are much easier to use, and the Siri Remote is a HUGE upgrade from the Roku Stick voice remote. Voice commands are much more responsive and even let you search within apps with the Siri button, as well as spell out passwords if you like. Then add on, if you have an iPhone, the Apple TV remote app is fantastic and lets you type from your phones keyboard, directly into your Apple Tv.Id recommend this for everybody, even if you have a brand new SamsungSonyLG Smart TV, you WILL notice a difference from the internal operating system or from a FirestickRoku.
Fuyaz –
The new Apple TV 4K is a lovely product however I find it expensive for what it offers .Having been around for a few years since it was first introduced and many generations later I find it wanting .I would have though that it would offer a bit more in terms of connectivity eg USB port to connect your external hard drive or even a slot to access you flash drive. The remote as beautiful as it is I find it a touch fiddly that could just be me.Over all I would recommend this product if you already dont have it, but not as a major upgrade over the previous last year model.
Hondo –
My old Apple TV was a lot easier to both setup and use. I had much trouble accessing my password. Ended up having to change it three times before I had one that Apple would accept. Also the interface is a pain in the butt. On my old one about 100 youtube titles would pop up in history which I could leisurely go through before picking, but now if I linger for over a second on a title it starts playing the last video and I have to scroll about looking for what I had been looking at. The only reason I purchased this one was because I could no longer access Youtube videos on the old Apple TV. Finally Apple hasnt changed the contoller in a way to make it easier to find it when your watching TV in the dark in bed. Interestingly, my old classic IPOD wore out and I had the same problem setting up my new IPOD. Thats a whole other frustrating story. Making things more difficult rather than easier is an interesting business concept from Apple.
SuburbanGuy –
Nice device. Download the apps for the content you like. Less clutter. Just very unfortunate that the radio app which used to be in old Apple TV is not available to the new box. Even bigger omission is that Apple chose to remove the optical audio port from the new box. Used to be able to take HDMI to a display device and digital optical audio signal to the surround sound stereo system. Not anymore Now you will have to buy an additional HDMI audio extractor to get the audio stream. Many of these extractor devices do not work well in this role including the unit sold by Best Buy.

As with most Apple products, the components are very stylish and attractive. Unfortunately, the controller sacrifices functionality for the sake of attractiveness it is too small and thin for either an adult male or female to handle well. there is not enough tactile difference to let the user know which end is up without looking at it this causes frequent unintended program selections when pickingup the device it feels very fragile, I suspect it would break easily but dont want to find out a hamster could probably destroy it let alone one of our dogs it is too thin to easily pick it up off of a table, I have to slide it to the edge of the table in order to lift it off the surface it is so dysfunctional my wife refuses to use itNo complaints about the main unit, it works. We like some of the programming available on AppleTV. Fortunately its free for a year. There is so little programming to choose from, there are literally only a dozen or so programs to choose from. And we like only about a quarter of those. Needs MORE programming to make it worth a monthly fee.And finally, the device is WAY too expensive, but Im an Applenerd and wanted to try it.

Was on the fence about the new Apple TV. Finally when HBO announced they were ending support for my old one I decided to order the 4K. Definitely happy with the new one. A few thoughtsobservations…The new video screen savers are awesome. Hi res overhead views of cities, nature scenes and other interesting places on the planet. You can set it to download new ones each day. Sometimes I just sit and watch the screen savers to see what new ones have arrived. The new remote has a few more functions like a mic for voice command, volume, and a track pad that works like a laptop track pad allowing you to scroll with your thumb. Takes a little getting used to but it is still user friendly. Also having a volume button on the remote is convenient.Apps like Netflix, HBO, YouTube etc do not come preinstalled. A bit more to set up in the beginning but you only use what you need so you dont have a bunch of apps to scroll through to find what you want.Overall I really like it, video quality is great and it is easy to use. The Facebook watch app was a nice surprise. Great for watching live streams of my favorite musicians on my television. And all my other favorites like Netflix and HBO work great. If you have an old Apple TV and are looking to upgrade, I think the features on this version make it worth the cost.

The Apple TV 4K 32GB device is a great performer and works as advertised. It took a little bit to set it up with the apps I needed. You have to go online and get the detailed instructions. Once I got the hang of it I was able to get the setup I wantedneeded. It takes a little getting used to the new Siri remote especially the touch technology is a little sensitive. But, I eventually got the hang of it. Overall the unit performs great. I would definitely recommend this product.

I have tried them all…Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Chromecast…and this is the best. Chromecast is cheap, but I didnt like constantly having to use a smartphone or tablet as a remote control. Amazon Fire TVthe user interface is so bad, just awful. And Ive been an Amazon Prime member for years and years Roku is okay, and just thatokay, mediocre. We have a really good, fast internet connection but the Roku buffers a little too often, and their remotes stop working all the time plus the remotes batteries are constantly draining.I have none of these problems whatsoever, though, with the Apple TV. No buffering, no problems with apps, great user interface, and a really good remote control that also controls the TV volume and onoff. The rechargeable battery in the remote control hardly ever needs charging. The tactile differences in the remotes buttons make it easy to use in the dark. It just works, and works well. It may be on the pricey side, but it is well worth it.
AppleTVreview –
I was replacing a previous generation Apple TV. Had issues initially setting up this one. It kept losing connection, the screen would go black. This was happening often and at random intervals.Unit is plugged directly into my network. Replaced HDMI cable, updated the Apple TV to the latest software nothing fixed it. Finally performed a factory reset and fingers crossed its gone 3 days without disconnecting.

This is our 3rd Apple TV in our house, and 2nd 4K version. Being able to download all of our streaming apps is very convenient, plus having the ability to watch movies in Dolby Vision and HDR is amazing We have a Denon AVRS739H, which allows us to utilize the Atmos option. We paired this up with a Hisense H9G and the picture quality is topnotch. The only downside I would say is the remote can be a little temperamental at times. I use voice commands most of the time to search and the integration with my iPhone makes most tasks a breeze. If you want a standalone streaming device and love Apple products, this is a mustown
Seth –
Yes, the price point is a bit much. The value, however, is incredible. This is far and above the best streaming device. The only con is the remote could be better, but if you have an iPhone the functionality is built in Using this with the Fitness is an incredible experience. There is no streaming app that is unavailable to me that I want, unlike when HBO Max rolled out and FireTV and Roku had to wait several months. The WiFi capabilities are more than adequate and it doesnt need constantly updated like the other two streaming devices mentioned. I should think something priced this much would work as well.

I watch my movies on this device, it does perform wonders. I bought this and a NVIDIA Shield, and the Apple TV is the one that gets the honor of powering my theater screen. But much like every apple product Ive bought, its too expensive. You may counter and say, well you gave this the prime location over other options, so it is the best, and you must pay more for the best. I would have to agree with your statement at that point, but the incredibly high price point of this product leaves me confused. It works well and I like it, but I feel I paid too much for it. not Best Buys fault, it was the same price everywhere. I hope this helps you find your way on your product quest, I know buying Apple products can be confusing, because some say they are the best, but they cost too much. In my case, Im keeping it, and enjoying it thoroughly, and as long as I dont think about it too much now that the money is already gone, Ill be happy with my purchase.

I use my APPLE TV for all my content binges. The interface is user friendly. It is simple to navigate from one app to the other. It offers all the apps I need. I mainly use it for NETFLIX, HBO MAX, HULU, and PRIME VIDEO. The picture it produces looks very nice on my 4K TV. The only issue is the remote. Although the remote is a huge improvement from gen3, I still believe it is easy to lose because of the size and color. Overall, the remote works well and the battery life is very good. Easy to charge.

Its certainly not cheap but its handsdown the best brain for your TV, especially if you already have a lot of Apple products in your house. We have 3 of these in three different rooms, and it is so seemless to control them remotely. When that movie my kids are watching upstairs gets too loud, I can open the Remote app and turn down the volume without having to go upstairs I can instantly beam whatever is on my phone to any of my TVs in the house. When listening to music, I can play that music through all 3 TVs at the same time. At the same time, the Apple TV serves as a HomeKit hub, so all of my HomeKit accessories can be controlled from literally anywhere. All the photos Ive marked as a Favorite on my iPhone magically get inserted into the Photos screensaver. I actually extended the autosleep timer because my family loves seeing all of the pictures play. It really is an excellent device, and I think its worth the investment.

After my fire tv died after several years of service I researched a new device. I considered, Fire tv cube, Nvidia tv, roku Ultra and Apple TV. Tried the Roku which is a nice device but slowed down when too many apps are downloaded and most of the free content is not that good. Also Roku does not pair well with hd homerun and does not have Att watch app. The fire cube tv is a mess not slick at all and amazons home page is way too busy. Nvidia is great for hackers and side loaders however it is obvious google is going to put a stop to side loading. So I went with the apple tv because of the superior hardware, speed, storage and the ability to customize the home page. The home page navigation is clean, crisp and easy. Apple works extremely well with the channel app for my hd homerun. I have found even though I am no longer using Kodi or other such apps I have more than I can watch with a much superior experience in terms of use as well as picture and sound quality. For me the apple tv is less hassle and much more enjoyable than the other formats which seem to be very busy.

Some people will say you dont need Apple TV with the new smart TVs. And that may be true. But I LOVE my Apple TV box. I find it has a stronger signal for the internet and therefore apps load much quicker than on the Smart TVs especially older Smart TVs. I love the choice of apps including so many podcasts plus it finds my FYC screening apps so thats a plus for me. In addition, its a user friendly interface. Most new Smart TVs come with airplay and casting to the screen but Apple TV seems to stay connected vs my new Samsung TV. If you are a Mac user, Apple is seamless. But if you dont want to pay Rx tea because the newer smart TVs include casting and quite a few apps, then this may be overkill. The last thing Id say is I live the screensaver. Apple takes you all over the world, under the sea and from space with drone photography over cities like London, Hong Kong, San Francisco and New York and from Space over Japan, Russia, Sahara Desert, swimming with dolphins, jellyfish and so much more. I love it. I could just watch that and it calms me, like a meditation. Thats a bonus I hope they keep adding more cities and more places. Makes me remember where Ive traveled and where I want to go back to as well as new places and really puts the world in perspective. So I must say that I bought this in August. But then my tv broke down in early December and I had to buy a new one. I wonder if I would have bought the Apple TV after buying a mew Smart tv but Im glad I have it and enjoy it alongside the Smart TV.

Apple TV has pluses and minuses. As with most Apple products, not a lot of instruction included in the package as it should be intuitive to the user. Right. Okay, my husband and I think were pretty smart, but we couldnt figure out how to make the TV turn off with the Apple TV remote. Seems we werent the only ones. YouTube helped us out on the remote functions. We were excited about getting Apple TV, but then we had the difficulties with the functions and found out you cant record shows with it, only stream. We should have researched the device more before purchase. You cant really return this thing. Getting better the more we use it, but we will still have to get a DVR box from the cable provider to record shows that are not available On Demand many arent andor not for as long as it would take us to get around to binge watching them. Somewhat disappointed to say the least with this purchase. It may end up going to our son who likes to stream more than we do.
IntermittentConnectivity –
We just got the Apple TV 4K 64GB several weeks ago due to changing streaming requirements. Not sure why but when we watch the ABC news streaming channel, it intermittently plays the sound. The voice goes in and out. On top of that, we often get an error that says no internet connection. However, when we check our internet speeds and other wifi enabled items, there is nothing wrong. As a result, we need to keep unplugging and replugging the cord to the Apple TV a lot. This solves the problem. We are going to return this unit in case it is a lemon.

I bought this primarily for the screen mirroring feature on an iPad on an Android TV. It works great for that and otherwise works fine. The remote is very sensitive. There is probably an adjustment for that. I wish I knew a new model was being released at the end of May, but I wouldnt have been able to use it for a few weeks, and I use it every day. For screen mirroring it works far better than any iOS app that I tried. Im fairly unimpressed though with the layout of icons and operation of the unit, but its fine for my purpose.

Nice streamer with excellent wifi reception. Had a Fire TV box previously and its wifi would buffer at times not because of home network speed, not with Apple TV. Much better responsiveness with my Harmony one ir universal remote too on Fire TV used a flirc with the Harmony for ir control. One of the few streaming boxes that has ir remote capability. Perfect picture clarity, 4k and Dolby Atmos inherent to the device. Top of the line, but does have a top of the line price.

Needed to upgrade from the oldergeneration AppleTV so that we could install custom apps to do video streaming of MLB, NBA, YouTube TV. Generally works great, as you would expect. One nontrivial issue is that they switched the location of the pause button from the location it was in on the old silver remote, which causes no end of fun when negativetransfer occurs and you hit the wrong button when youre trying to pause. The touchpad interface also takes some getting used to, even if youve used a laptop mouse touchpad for a long time. And its hypersensitive, so even the slightest accidental touch to this when youre watching a show can produce an unexpected stop or change in your show. I always leave it turned upsidedown so the control surface isnt open to accidental touches.

WOW I am so impressed with this thing. especially compared to my old, very limited compared to this 3rd gen Apple TV that I havent even used in years.I recently upgraded to Apple One and decided that to take full advantage of the Fitness I wanted a new Apple TV. For that I am so impressed I have apple watch series 5 and it displays your workout stats on screen LOVE ITI am so impressed with this thing Apple Music is seamless on here too. I downloaded all the same apps that I run. on my 5 year old smart tv and they run way better on here. I ran it momentarily on wifi but decided to hard wire it just because I could. ran fine on wifi, but hard wired is always better. The remote is a huge improvement over old style. Siri is nice and touch pad is a super nice addition. playing games with remote is passable but Id prefer my dualshock4 though I havent tried to connect it yet.Setup was fairly simple and it automatically was able to adjust volume through my older Yamaha Receiver. I love and highly recommend this thing. But, I think Ill wait and see if a new one is released this September before I buy one for my upstairs tv.

If you dont have a multimedia box on your TV, the Apple TV 4K 2021 is the best choice If you have an old Apple TV HD or less, its a very cool upgrade If you have the Apple TV 4K 2017 is the proc upgrade enough for you to buy a new one But take care, the Apple TV works best if already are in the Apple ecosystem if youre not, its a great box, but not the greatest. If you have an iPhone, iCloud, a Mac or anything else with an Apple on it, its the must.I have multiple HomePod mini trough my condo, and the Apple TV works flawlessly with them With iOS 15 you can ask your HomePod to light up your Apple TV, and with HDMICEC, your Apple TV wakes up your TV, sound bar or whatever The same when you ask Siri to shut off the TV, everything shuts off, without touching the remote. And now, the Apple TV 4K handle the ARC form your TV to broadcast sound through your HomePods, so now, you can watch your Blueray disc, on your HomePods, through the Apple TV I already own an Apple TV 4K 2017, and it didnt stopped me to buy the 2021

I purchased my Apple TV approximately a month ago as I dont have a smart TV and was missing out on watching all my favourite Netflix and other streaming services on the big screen. My Apple TV purchase came with a one year subscription to AppleTV, after which the cost is 5.99CADmonth. After setting up my device I was pretty disappointed with the limited selection of movies and shows available on AppleTV and discovered that if I wanted to watch a movie or show I had ever heard of, I would have to subscribe to individual channels through the AppleTV, each of which is approximately 5.99month. Therefore, if you subscribe to several channels, it can get pretty costly. Im unsure of whether you need to be subscribed to AppleTV to get the additional channels, as the AppleTV subscription is a big waste of 6 in my opinion. The box works great as a device for streaming other providers such as Netflix, PrimeTV, Crave, Disney, and so on, and its very easy to install the streaming apps, just like on an iPhone or iPad. I also LOVE the Siri remote, and can connect my iPhone as a remote as well which is very convenient. In conclusion, I do like the box for streaming content, however I think its overpriced I would say its worth 75, and if you ever plan on getting a smart tv in the future, its likely useless.

Ease of use, siri voice control, simple remote, amazing picture quality. And Im not an Apple person…. so I would imagine, well I know that iPhone users love this too.1 issue they need to solve like yesterday. Engaging dolby atmos along with at least the LG CX OLED creates an endless loop of audio cut out. On one second off one second… tv speakers, sound bar, headphones. Only option is to kill the atmoseARC on the Apple tv. So if you have these 2, ATV and LG OLED, and then want atmos, youre I trouble. I have it with one of my tv combos, so I use WebOS on tv for atmos watching. Pretty annoying. LG and Apple blame each other. Not helpful.Butbesides that issue……I do hone theater work and its pretty easy to justify the cost on this. Make sure you buy the 4k version as the 1080p is same box, same look, similar price.Dolby vision amazing. My spectrum tv app looks amazing which is my main cable.I cant say enough about the product. Im a harsh critic as well.

I purchased this recently after being a longtime Roku Ultra fan. Both the streaming box and remote feel sleek and solid. I like that the remote is charged via a lightning cable, so there is no need to periodically toss a couple of batteries and buy new ones. The Apple interface is not much different from all of the other toptier streamers. Its both elegant, smooth, and easy to use. I connected it to a 4K TV and the picture is bright and crisp. I am really impressed with Apples streaming product.

Cancel your cable company, get Hulu, and buy Apple TV. We purchased Apple TV because the Samsung Smart TV features werent that great. It was constantly disconnecting from our home wifi. The Apple TV has great WiFi connectivity, the user interface is awesome, and the setup was super easy. My wife can play her music and look at pictures directly from the tv. Additionally, since we preordered Disney I wanted to make sure it would work on that unit and it does. I read that Disney wouldnt be available work on Amazon Fire Stick. The one thing I wished was different was the back of the remote is a very smooth metal which makes it somewhat challenging to hold. They shouldve made it the same material as the top side of the remote. Not a big enough issue to ding them a star. The Apple rep suggested we get the 32G not the 64G and he was right. Overall SUPER happy with the purchase

Ive only had this for a few weeks but so far so good. Picture and audio quality are top notch which was what I was looking for. Im not much of an Apple person so it took me a while to figure out how to navigate through the content and set things up. The user manual sucks. I thought there would be more apps available to access content. Hopefully that improves over time. The only other issue Ive come across so far is that it doesnt wake up properly after it goes into sleep mode. I did a web search and found that many users were experiencing the same problem. I expect this can only be corrected through a firmware update.

Hey Apple, ever hear of BluetoothSort of a silly rhetorical question, right I do not think so.With great comfort I gave this product a onestar rating. When it works the way it should, it is very fivestar worthy. With this said, I had a disturbing telephone conversation with an Apple tech support person a few days ago, who by the way was extremely professional and tried to be helpful. What upset me is the tech person told me Apple was not aware of the problem I described. I responded with,Really Well, the consumers know about it. Just do an internet search on, static noise Apple TV and Bluetooth speakers. The idea that Apple does not know about this is poppycock. As an Apple fan I have long appreciated their commitment to quality, and I am in the quality controlquality assurance business. After three decades in this field I understand that inspite of hard work and commitment to quality, things happen. Its life. However, when Apple pretends to the world they do not know about an inherent problem in a product, they lose me as a supporter. When at home, I am active and move all over and have fallen in love with the ability to move Bluetooth speakers to where I am, or I use headphones. I love itminus the static cutouts. By the way, the static is present regardless of the distance of the speakers to the unit. It is not signalstrength related. After researching the web and three telephone calls with Apple support, I have tried EVERYTHING to correct this problem Two new top quality 4K cables, moved the speakers and unit closer to one another, restart, reset, unpair, repair three different brands and types of Bluetooth speakers by the way, wrapped aluminum foil around all the cables, blah blah blah. This problem began a few months before the warranty expired, but I assumed it was a simple interference problem that I could track down, thus the first new HDMI cable. Once I understood the problem was with the 4K Apple TV unit, the warranty period had passed. With my quality background, I understand much more acutely than most people that the best products have anomalies. I get it. I buy products with this understanding and make decisions whether I want to purchase an extended warranty. My purchase constitutes an agreement between the manufacture and myself regarding the expected lifespan of the product.I bought this unit without an extended warranty fully conscious of the risk. Thats fine. It was my decision. Just please, please do not insult my intelligence and pretend that this problem is unknown to Apple. That is not an honest commerce agreement. Its lying. If you own one, are having static issues, and it is still covered by warranty then assume it is defective and get it replaced TODAY

Im pretty impressed by how well this device works for being a refurb, I had not known that there was a touchpad in the remote, all I can say to the person who had trouble with theirs, go get a new remote, there was probably nothing wrong with the device itself. Or, get yourself an Apple keyboard and you can use that to navigate. Unfortunately, this ATV4K is not applerefurbished see image 1. If this were applerefurbished, it would say Apple certified refurbished on the outside of the box. This does not, it has some blue label so this was probably refurbished by a thirdparty. And because of this there is no protection via Apple, Apple extends their one year warranty to refurbished items, without that official Apple refurbished label, we do not have a vable warranty. If this were an official Apple refurbished item, the person who got the bad remote would have been able to get a brand new remote from any Apple Store, simply by showing them the receipt andor the box. But because this was not refurbished through Apple itself, we dont have that option. So it is always a risk buying thirdparty refurbished. However, the device is clean and it works properly and it passes all of the tests and it was also 60 cheaper then a brand new Apple TV 4k64gig. I decided to take the chance and so far everything works great. The 4K signal plays back perfectly on my TV. Next step jailbreaking this thing, but thats a whole other can of worms requiring a Mac. I only purchased this so I could watch The Expanse in 4K UHD through my Amazon prime membership, and I am doing that right now and it looks fantastic. Before this, I had an Apple TV 3 which I had installed Plexconnect onto, all you need to do is install a certificate and it allows you to use the trailers app to stream from your Plex server. But you had to keep the firmware of the ATV3 at tvOS 7.2, which is extremely primitive compared to tvOS 12.3 which came with this. Setting this up was just like setting up an iPhone in complexity, but I had no problems following each of the steps and it automatically connected to both of my iCloud accounts. And I was able to connect my Apple keyboard as well as the remote. Not to mention it automatically connected to my iPhone so I can control through that as well. The only disappointment I have is that I was assuming that the volume control would work, but it does not. Im not sure how to get the volume control to work, but if you are hooked up to your TV through the HDMI 4K cable, then the volume is controlled by wherever you are sending the audio output of the TV to, in my case to my 5.1 Kenwood system. So I have to use the main volume control on my Kenwood remote, and the volume control on the Apple TV remote is basically useless unless I am missing something, I will go through the settings again later but Im pretty sure I set everything up properly.

The picture quality the Apple TV 4K delivers is incredible. We actually stopped watching our cable channels through our providers box and began using the Spectrum app on Apple TV instead because the programming looks so much better. The remote is sensitive and difficult to get accustomed to. I had better luck downloading the Apple remote app and using my phone as a control. I also wish it were rechargeable but it needs to be plugged into a power source at all times. Apps are limited compared to whats available on a mobile device and no internet browser is available, however, screen mirroring works well as long as your device and the Apple TV are on the same network. Though far from perfect, I am pleased with it overall. We get plenty of use out of it with our subscriptions to Amazon Prime, Netflix, Pandora, etc.

I prefer Apple TV to all other streaming devices. I have tried Roku, the Samsung Smart TV streaming format, and Amazon Fire Stick. The Apple TV runs the fastest, smoothest and has less glitches than all the others. It lasts the longest, is the easiest to get apps on, and the remote signal is much better as well. This new unit immediately pairs with the remote on my iphone, and lets me use my phone keyboard to type in the searchpassword bar so that I dont have to struggle with touch pad remote. My only complaint is the new design of the remote with the track pad. Its way too sensitive, so unnecessary, and so small. If the remote is lying on the couch and you sit on it, or go to pick it up without paying attention to which part youre grabbing, youll definitely activate the touch pad and mess up your viewing. I usually just use the remote on my phone, or an old, trusty silver remote with buttons from an older Apple TV. Even with the bad remote design, this streaming device is still miles ahead of the competition, so the price tag is justified.

This is my 5th Apple TV. Ive been a fan since the very first generation. What do I like most about it Its the touch remote combined with the smooth scrolling to fast forward and rewind movies. For all the movies I own digitally 400, and most programs on the various streaming services, I can put my thumb on the remote touchpad and search for precise scenes via the thumbnail picture that comes up. Its like scrolling on a videoediting software with the speed precisely controlled with my thumb. The experience and effect are completely different than using the typical fast forward and rewind buttons on the other devices. I love reliving many of the favorite scenes in my movies when I am in the mood to just browse. I can jump to a battle scene in Lord of the Rings in no time, then quickly find and watch a famous speech in The Darkest Hour. This device is typical of Apple products with great user interface.

The biggest advantage to Apple TV is the Apple integration with other devices. Screensharing is perfect. You can start looking at photos, videos, movies on your iPhoneiPadMacbook and easily transfer to Apple TV. Audio also transfers to the TV.If you have AirPods you can sync them up with Apple TV as well, which is awesome if youre trying to watch something in a small houseapartment while other people are working, studying, etc…Probably my favorite feature. The remote is cool, but takes some getting used to. It can learn your TV and surround sound receiver if you have one. Itll turn on the TV and will control the volume on your receiver wont power on the receiver though. While Im not sure I could pay full price for AppleTV, I did use gift cards for this purchase…but I wouldnt say youre crazy for paying full price. I also have a FireTV Stick and FireTV. I would say the Apple TV home screen is easier to navigate, as the Amazon devices have a lot of noise information on the home screens movies AND apps are kind of all over….BUT thats kind of picking knits. If youre on a budget the FireTV Stick will probably do…but if youre thinking about getting a FireTV or that FireTV Cube thing, youll probably be happier going with an Apple TV.

It has virtually every streaming app youd want. The user interface is very easy to use and intuitive. It has very good responsiveness as well. It is HDR10, Dolby Vision, 4K, and Dolby Atmos compatible. You can choose to have it match the picture mode and frame rate best options to match the content and it will automatically do it for you. The only small drawback is the remote. I think buttons would have been better instead of the touch pad for the directional selections. Also Ive noticed with friends the remote is prone to crack if dropped since it uses glass. But otherwise, the ease of use, quality, and available options within it appwise make this the best streaming player in the market right now. If you turn on HDMI CEC on your TV, this device, and sound system sound bar or recover it should allow you to control the volume with the Apple TV 4Ks remote. You can also use your iPhone or iPad to control it with the app. You can even use an Xbox or PS4 controller now to play games from the App Store or Apples new Arcade service.

Set up was a breeze, and it works great. The picture is spectacular and it is nice to get DolbyVision for streaming movies. The interface is nice and works similar to a Roku etc. At first I did not like the remote, but it works pretty slick after you get used to it.I do have to keep on either unplugging the HDMI cord to reset the signal or restart it. It is a new cord I bought just for the device. FinickyStreaming is great, however I had to stop using it after only 13 days of use In the first month after I almost hit my Comcast terabyte limit for the first time ever.We streamed on Roku every day on 4kHDR 10 maximum resolution and rarely hit 50 of our data. Never came eve close to the max.Come to find out all the integration advantages with photos, podcasts, and awesome screen savers eat your data fast. Also streaming AppleTV shows and DolbyVision eat it fast too. Some have measured the data hog at over 100 gigs sitting idle with little use….I looked at its use and data use by AppleTV was very high in the middle of the night when we were in bed no kids at home.So I disconnected the integration, podcast downloads and etc and screen saver downloads. I kept on watching in DolbyVision and Atmos so worth itAlso, the apps do not shut down when you are not watching them and keep on running in the background. This eats data. You have to manually shut them down so they are not live. This is unlike Roku which shuts them down to conserve resources. I manually shut these down when I switch apps.I spent January monitoring data use and shutting of AppleTV connection at the router. Data use was back to pre AppleTV levels. February has also been normal without shutting of access at the router. I still have the integration items shut down and manually shut down the apps. This is a known data hog issue. I found the roadmap to reduce data use online.So….I watch the data closely and shut off the apps.

I upgraded from the 2nd Generation Apple TV that came out in 2010. I have really enjoyed this purchase Since I mostly stream TV shows, this was worth every penny. Definitely recommend it if you are more into streaming than cable TV. Pretty easy to set up tooId just warn you to name your device something unique so neighbors arent constantly trying to connect to your apple TV. I named my Apple TV Living Room and my neighbors did the same. So many of my shows would be interrupted because of this. Otherwise, its a great product and worth buying

This is a great all around streaming device. If you had any of the previous versions, you will certainly notice an improvement in performance and speed. I use this as my fulltime connected smart device on my TV. With the popularity of the Apple ecosystem, App creators are going to make sure they produce an Apple TV app for their offering and make sure it works well. The remote is not my favorite, but once you get used to it, it gets the job done. Sometimes it would just be nice to have a few more buttons. Unless you are planning on using this as a gaming device, 32GB should be all you need for streaming your content. It starts up quickly and maintains a good WiFi connection, or can be hard wired if available. It is great for AirPlaying content from your iPhoneiPad or Mac on to your TV and even allows those not on your wireless network to AirPlay which is great if a visitor wants to show off something on the big screen. If you have a smart TV, you might think you dont need this, but in my experience, TVs last a lot longer than the smart technology inside them. So it is easier and cheaper to upgrade the connected technology, such as this Apple TV, to gain new and improved features and give more years of life into your TV. For the business users out there, it is great for a conference room screen as it can display connection instructions on screen and can easily be switched from user to user.

After trying out Amazon Stick and Roku, we have found a winner. My main issue with the other streaming devices was the picture quality wasnt good on certain apps for whatever reason. Even though I didnt want to pay all this money for this streaming device, I have heard nothing but great things about the Apple TV device so I decided to give it a try and Im glad I did. Its very easy to set up and the home screen alone, I could tell a difference in the picture quality with it being 4k. I downloaded all of my apps and I cant be more happier. The picture quality is not only the best Ive seen it, but I have access to all of my apps including HBO Max which I couldnt get on the firestick or Roku. The remote is different too, but easier to use than a regular remote in my opinion. Im glad I got this and it was definitely worth the investment. I would highly recommend this to anyone. You wont be disappointed.

Got this to replace my Apple TV HD when I purchased my Sony X900H 4k TV. 4k HDR quality is outstanding, same great interface. I found some YouTube videos with video and audio setting recommendations that made a huge difference in picture quality set to 4k SDR and match dynamic range and frame rate rather than force everything to HDR. Still some quirks in the audio department. I didnt expect much, but when set it to Atmos I get nothing to my preAtmos preamp same set up for my Bluray player decodes as Dolby TrueHD. So Im using PCM 5.1, which in most cases sounds great, but is also appdependent Hulu is usually PCM 2.0.Its just what I expected and beats the socks off any TV or Bluray player posing as a streaming device.

Bought this to enable some channels not available on my older Apple TVs. The video output is much better than the older units. The interface is much prettier and the Siri interface works well. The touch screen is a bit sensitive and takes a little practice to get good with it. Its easier to access auxiliary information on movies, etc. using this remote over the old remotes the old remotes will still work with the new unit. The only downside Ive found is the interface doesnt visually display the viewed status of videos in our personal local library like the old interface would do. We have to remember which episodes of a series weve watched no indicator of this like the older units provided but the improved video quality and Siri interface is worth losing the watched indicators on the local library.Ive recommended the AppleTV to a number of friends and they have all been extremely happy they got one.

Whats not to like Simply the best video streaming quality available to date. Apple plus streaming has some great content. What really blows me away is the integration of my spectrum programming. Awesome. Watched Jumanji off starz app and videoaudio was incredible. Spectrum tv, apple tv plus, Disney streaming, Netflix, Amazon, spotify are my favorites on the apple tv platform. Truly after using roku, etc this is the smartest guide available. If you have a 4k tv this is a must to take advantage of what your tv is capable of with native 4k content. Quality blows cablesat boxes out of the water with improved navigation and content. Siri search is awesome and if you live in the apple domain its even better. If you dont its still worth price of admission for audio and video enhancements. If you have a robust internet speed this is your huckleberry. Take advantage of what your tv and surround audio systems are capable of. You get what you pay for and with this product you get more than what you pay in my opinion. There is a learning curve with unique remote but you get used to it pretty quickly. Highly recommended.

Weve been mostly a Roku family with a little bit of builtin Android. Rokus summerfall inability refusal to support HBO Max drove me to buy this for our main TV. I like it a lot. Much more refined than Roku. The one thing Ill say is that I have a mysterious staticky band that shows up on the bottom of the screen sometimes. Not always, but sometimes it repeatedly pops up for just a flash. Its very annoying. Ive played with various video settings which may or may not make it better. Having said all this, this installation is part of a pretty sophisticated home theater system that was built up over a period of 10 years. I have what is probably a 25 foot HDMI cable running from the receiver to the TV, and that cant be helping the situation.

I am extremely pleased with this previous generation apple tv 4K. Got it at a great price and was in excellent condition for openbox. Its so easy to use and being an iphone user, the interface is just plain simple I dont care for a lot of the negative reviews about the remote as I use the remote app from my phone and a universal remote with the rest of my set up. It is a little more expensive than other products like fire tv, roku and nvidia sheild but i am a creature of habit and I love the common layout of the apple operating systems.I paired this with a 4K AV Receiver and a 4K Projector Love it

Before you do anything else… after you connect this box to your internet via hard wire or WiFi… make sure you go in to the setting section and update the software in your box.1. Boot up the Apple TV and open the Settings app.2. Go to System.3. Select Software Updates.4. Select Update Software.5. Make sure the auto update feature is on.If you have the most current version, it will tell you so.If not, it will take a few minutes to download and install the most current software version. The first box I connected would not download the Netflix app, the Amazon app or the Hulu app, until I updated to the latest software version. If you have a Netflix account, just log in with your information and you will connect immediately. With Amazon, you have to have your computer or ipad close by as it will give you a code you must enter on the page at http://www.amazon.commytv. After that, you will connect.Another tip is after you load all of you apps, you can move them up to the top of the page by clicking on your app and holding your finger down and then using the up arrow to move it to the top and then clicking on it again to drop it where you want it to live. You can also use the microphone button to speak your email address and password one letter at a time when you are setting the box up. Its much easier than moving the cursor to each letter. Use the menu button to go backwards from the page you are on. Have fun

I just purchased my 7th Apple TV, not because any of them broke, although technically, I had 2 of the original version. I have them on 4 TVs at my house, even though 3 of them are smart TVs, and each of my 3 college kids have one in their respective cities. We store all of our families movies in the Apple Cloud and we can all watch from our respective 4 cities and 3 states. It makes me feel better about spending money on movies, as we can all watch as many times as we like. We do try to buy the movies on sale andor use Itunes cards we buy on sale to buy the movies. If you dont have a smart TV, you can get tons of streaming apps, games, and more. The kids use their iphones as a remote control. I use the remote that comes with the device. No HDMI cord comes with, but you need 1. You do get a lightning to USB, which is used to charge the remote. In my opinion, 32G, 4K is all I need, as 64 is overkill for what I do most, streaming. Its Apple, which is why I suppose these are a little pricey. Ive never tried any of the competitors for streaming and probably never will as like I said, we use Apple for movie storage.

Apple 4K isnt bad if you like to be in eco system. Hooked up to UHDTV, and i am very keyed in and fined tuned on different streaming apps on getting perfect picture and sound settings overall. Disappointed and i am not going to name the better device, but a hint on device is it has UI upscale and 16gb for 199.00 dollars, picture adjustment settings and quality of picture is a step above Apple. As for Apple4k , no matter what i did changing TV, set and AppleTv , couldnt get picture just right across all major streaming apps. Either too dark and washed out or too bright across the apps. So i traded it in for Hint..Id rather break the Apple Eco system and have outstanding picture settings on a device across the board of apps than be loyal to Apple. Also Apple 4K remote , lets not go there. Glad i finally manned up and ditched AppleTv.

This unit is very good, just as good as Amazon Fire Stick 4K Stick. The biggest difference to the Fire Stick is the Apple 4k box allows to wire the internet direct while the stick is wifi only. The only issue I found was that the Dolby Atmos audio isnt compatible with older Dolby Atmos AV Receivers, in the way no sound… at all. So the Apple TV box needs to be switched to 5.1 Surround or Stereo for those that dont have Surround Sound. The picture quality is excellent and I never encountered Buffing. Apps can be added such as PLEX TV and Movies. Sound Quality is excellent, I found no trace of a harsh digital sound with music or movies.

I mainly purchased this product to use the Airplay feature from my phone and in that aspect it works really well. Just keep in mind not all streaming apps will give you the option. Ive had issues with the remote where it disconnects and it takes some work getting it to work again. Also, since the remote has a touch pad area you have to learn to pick it up a certain way otherwise you will inadvertently run a finger over the touch pad area and cause a menu to pop up while youre watching something. I bought a silicon case as the remote is not grippy for me but the case was pushing down on the touch pad button and so I had to cut the case with scissors to make sure none of the button was being covered and the button pressed. Overall its been ok for me. Again, I got it specifically for Airplay and that seems to work well for what I needed it for. If you dont have Apple devices or dont have a real need to pair with Apple devices, I recommend you try a Roku. The interface is simple and you will never inadvertently make a menu or some info screen pop up while grabbing the remote.

Turn any TV into a SmartTV. The best streaming device for your Cablecutting needs. I am able to watch Disney unlike Amazon and Roku devices. Enjoy Netflix in 4K. Watch cable via YouTubeTV or Sling App. Didnt cut cable…this device still has the easiest User Interface and Remote, enjoy Bravo, HGTV, HBOMax, and many more. Did I mention that this is a game system as well Yes, link a console controller via Bluetooth and you are set to play many games. Enjoy over 100 AdFREE games with AppleArcade for only 5 a month.

Ive tried a number of video streamers, but this is the best for my needs. It integrates with my other apple products seamlessly, so I can stream music or videos, enter passwords for Hulu, Netflix, and other apps that are saved on my phoneiPad, and it can be controlled with Siri, so I can ask the apple tv to turn on the Hue lights and bang theyre on. My tv remote somehow controlled the apple tv with no setup on my part, so I dont always need to use the apple tv remote.Beside that, I wish I could use Siri voice commands with Spotify on my apple tv. It has a Spotify app, but I cant say Play me some jazz or something like that. Someday, maybe.Oh, and the audio quality is fantastic. For me, I turned down the framerate to 30FPS because the machine would get laggy at 60FPS. We have a slow internet connection, but even moving around the cursor on the home screen would be laggy. I dont notice when I watch tv though, so the lower framerate doesnt bug me.

Despite this low mark I would buy the same again. I probably wouldnt pay an extra 33. for 32GB more memory next time. When it works, it works well. My main issue with this black box is that it is a black box. If the unit crashes into an unrecoverable state, there is no option other than to return it to Apple either via Digitec or the Genius never going to happen Bar. This is not good enough and there should be a way for normal users to make a hard reset of the unit. As it is, I am forced to send it away with my apple account still logged in and hope that they cannot fix it. Maybe Im stupid okay probably and have missed something obvious. If not, then sorry guys, the 2 stars are well deserved.

Having tried various streaming services across different devices and platforms, the Apple TV 4K is easily the most stable and reliable of them all.It may be the most expensive but if youve spent a lot of money already on decent audio visual kit, the Apple TV 4K also offers the best image and sound quality of any Ive tried. The ability to match frame rates and dynamic range of the source material means you get to see movies in the form they were intended to be seen at the cinema, at the correct speed and with the best colour reproduction. Dolby Vision content in particular looks spectacular on a decent OLED or highspec LCD TV.Compared to Sky Cinemas UHD HDR movie content, the Apple TV 4K is in a different league when showing 4K HDR movies bought or rented via iTunes.Hooked up via a home cinema amplifier, Dolby Atmos encoded movies TV shows are absolutely sensational with full, rounded, multidimensional sound. All the main UK catchup services are available BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4 etc. and integrate well with the Apple TV operating system. The BBC iPlayer cant unfortunately show UHD content like it can on many iPlayer apps built into TVs but this will hopefully be updated by Apple in the future. HD content upscaled by the Apple TV 4K all looks fantastic, really cant fault it. Amazon Prime Video and Disney also show movies and TV shows in pinsharp 4K with HDR.The Siri remote works extremely well. You can simply say something like play the next episode of RuPauls Drag Race UK and it will automatically open iPlayer and start playing the next episode. Very simple and extremely quick too.If you own other Apple devices like an iPhone or iPad then its easy to view any photos or videos you have on there on your TV screen.

This will certainly seem obvious but it does indeed lag w bad internet, due to no fault of the product I assume. Unfortunately I Had to return this as the streaming, both video and audio is slow, choppy, problematic w bad internet, Where I live they currently only offer 18mbps max as absurd as that is. And w everyone home and gobbling up bandwidth mine is often under 15 or even 10. My understanding is this Apple TV 4k uses more bandwidth for 4k uhd as most or likely all 4k streamers I assume. And just as stated as requirements for streaming ideally you need at least 15 as bare minimum and optimally 25. Which should be no problem to have nowadays. So this is really a heads up for ppl w crap internet like mine, you will indeed have issues loading and streaming. Not always but I did often. Otherwise seems a fine product, interface.

Just reviewing the whole experience more than the device itself.I was upgrading from a 3rd Gen Apple TV to get the 4K and HDR feature for Disney along with Vudu apps. It is nice to have all of the digital streaming and content under one hood. But there is so much room for improvement. The bad things are many. Nothing from my prior device is saved or storable with iCloudiTunes devices so I have to reregister the new device with all of the existing apps even after signing in with my apple ID. All with a sub par remote that has touch detection issues and I ended up just using my 3rd Gens remote to click through and enter everything since the touch pad on the 5th Gen remote rarely went where I wanted and clicking down would move the cursor from where I was clicking. It is a horrible design with performance issues. If I wanted to use Siri, maybe it has a purpose. But, I dont like using Siri or Cortana assistants so the remote is a massive negative for me. It is also rather unresponsive trying to navigate has required repeated pressing of the menu button to go back in some apps sometimes taking dozens of presses.Apps are manually added instead of the automated popular apps are automatically added into lineup with the Apple TV prior generations. You can keep the main menu clear of unwanted apps but you have to manually go download and register each one you want. Again this really should be done through iCloudiTunes for apps and tied into your Apple ID so you can speed things up by signing into your device once. They offer tabletphone setup, but not too helpful for android users. I also havent found a way to rearrange the main menu apps.Disneyseems to hate Apple TV. I constantly get buffing with nothing happening and Oh No something went wrong errors trying to watch, skip ahead or go back a few seconds in a playback to catch something I miss. Ive seen this on my PS4 so it is definitely Disney has a horrible interface, but since I bought the Apple TV because only the 5th Gens can have it. I felt it was worth noting here as well. Being required to restart my Apple TV within its first 12 hours of use is a head shake in reliability. If I could have had Vudu and Disney on the 3rd Gen I would have skipped the 5th Gen Apple TV. Its doesnt seem worth the upgrade considering streaming HD vs UHD on my 65 OLED is virtually indistinguishable at my 13 foot seating distance and the compression used and upconversion my receiver and TV already do for sources. But now I got my 3rd Gen in my bedroom on my 47 LED so I can watch my iTunes library there now.

This is a no brainer to purchase if youre in the Apple ecosystem and have a 4K TV.I have 3 Apple TVs of various generations including a very old Gen 1 that no longer gets updates. Its pretty limited on its usage now so it was looking to get it replaced anyway. I happen to purchase my first 4K TV and felt I had to get a Apple TV 4K since it pretty much converts all media to 4K HDR if available. We do our movie purchases through streaming services and iTunes Movies so it just makes sense for us.While I like the Apple TV and all they integration with our Apple products, I do feel things could be better on it. I found at times the Apple gets sluggish and freezes up. The older gens are even worst. So as the tech gets better and the updates keep coming the older gens like computers and phones will be outdated. Im not a huge of the control. Its very testy and you have to be pretty precise with your movements. Also the remote is gets lost WAY too easily. There should be a locating beep that can be actuated to find the remote.I still recommend it, it just could be better.

The best streaming device available for purchase I have them all, Roku, Firestick 4K, Nvidia Shield… and AppleTV 4K beats them all. As an Android Enthusiast I was always in denial about about AppleTV being better than the Nvidia Shield Androids Flagship streaming device until I decided to pull the trigger and actually try it out. I dont want to turn this into a comparison review, so let me just give my review on the AppleTV 4K. Easy to use right out of the box it does not come with an HDMI cord, plug it in, log in, and you are ready to use. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR, Dolby Atmos sound and a countless amount of apps. Very user friendly and easy to use. The integrated tabs are awesomeWatch Now pick up a show or movie where you left off, regardless of the app it was being streamed onTV watch apple originals with a subscription, of courseMovies movies to buyrent from the Apple storeTV same as aboveSports watch whatever may be on at the given time. You can also select your favorite professional sports teams and get notifications about their games. Also, if your wife is hogging the remote and she decides to watch a romantic comedy, there are close game notifications that will appear that you can click on that will pause the movieshow and take you directly to the game I think this is a very cool feature. Also, you can choose to display or not display scores in the tab to avoid spoilers.AppleTV also supports Apple Arcade, I have not tried it, so I dont know how great, or bad it is. I do know you can connect an xbox controller for gameplay, which is cool.AirPlay and connectivity is easy to use, you dont even have to be on the same WiFi network, which is very convenient.Another great feature is the ability to sign in with your cablesatellite provider and enable a oneclick sign on kind of method so you dont have to keep putting in your password for multiple apps.Awesome Device

I have been an AppleTV owner since generation 2, with the silver aluminum controller. With each version of the AppleTV software upgrade, things improve, and now it is the launch pad for whatever I want to watch, such as PBS, CNN, Netflix, and the AppleTV original offerings. I never pick up the cable remote, unless I want to watch a newscast real time. The Siri based controller, integration with the iPhone for using the phone keystrokes to enter a long password like for Netflix account rather than having to navigate on the screen to pick out from the alphabet displayed on the TV, etc. I find that the 64K storage size is more than adequate I do not play video games, which I think do use up storage in the unit. And I chose the 4K model, as I was getting a 4K TV and thought I should maximize the resolution for the movies from iTunes purchase.

Unless you must have the Apple TV app do not waste your time or money on this product. My family owns multiple Apple products and love Apple in general. But this product is absolutely awful. The remote is flimsy, at times unresponsive or inconsistent in terms of what action it performs ie fast forward vs stop. Apps on the device constantly freeze or get errors causing me to reboot the box. I also have an NVIDIA Shield 4K and have never had an issue with the exact same apps.Maybe the developers of the apps I am having issues with are terrible at iOS development but if I could return this box today I would.

I got this for my wife for Christmas 2020 so she could use it with her MacBook Pro and we could use it for streaming our TV services. We have had NO problems with buffering for freezing with this as we had with Android TV built into our Sony TV. I was also able to easily sync the volume control with our Pioneer receiver so that we can control the surround sound volume. Were very happy with the video quality but disappointed that it doesnt have a mute button so we can silence commercials. We have to use our other Logitech universal remote to mute. That is the only thing preventing us from giving it 5 stars.

Upgraded to this model from the previous generation. The new features include voice functions, that really save time from having to type everything out. Also, the volume control on the remote is a nice addition. The user interface is still mostly the same, but dont fix it if its not broke. Disney is available, which was another reason we upgraded to this model. The only downside is it is pricey for a streaming device. With all the integration with other apple products, it was a must for our household.

I bought this device as the only one I could find which had the Zwift app.The speed at which apps load, and moving between screens is much faster than the LG smart TV that I have been using. No delay Picture quality is better with the 4K upscaling. Seamless pairing with Airpods as well. If you are already in the Apple universe, the Apple 4K TV streamer is a no brainer, worth the extra cost over a Roku for the seamless integration with other Apple devices. The only complaint I have over using my old LG remote is the slide pad on the Apple remote does not advance the screen in 15 second increments instead, you have to slide along the preview line on the bottom of DVR recordings, and I dont find it as easy to find the start point of resumed programming after a commercial break on YouTube TV. I still use the old LG remote for that function.

This replaces my early model Apple TV because we spend so much time streaming these days, thought I would get the latest model. I discovered long ago, that my Apple TV would steam programs with noticeable improvement over the builtin smart TV tuner, so with exception of the news of the day, or special network programs, go directly to the Apple TV to browse various services. It is indeed a dazzling display with all recent programs started listed right at top, no matter what platform they are on. A little nuisance, but fun feature is an automatic preview of any program where search is positioned. For me, the only reason didnt rate a 5 star, is the remote is small for my stiff fingers. I have trouble with the touch pad control, not always responsive for me, but generally works ok. Maybe with time I will get used to it. It has voice control that may be worth trying.

I love the Apple TV. I like to use the up next feature on my phone and my other devices, and was excited to learn that it connected with the Apple TV box. This is one of the main reasons I purchased this box. I like how it gives the user control over their streaming, for example I can put up multiple streams on ESPN at the same time. I cant do this with my Roku. I also love using the Homepods OGs with the TV Box. It is truly better than most sound bars. Only down side is the whole Apple Eco System. So if you are invested in Apple, it really is an investment, then you will love this. If you are not, i would not recommend.

There are many reviews of this product already so what can I add that has not already been said. It is Apple, it is quality, and works like it should. I love it. Video and sound quality are excellent. Expensive yes, but worth itOne subject I have not seen addressed in a review is in the area of the builtin video player itself. It is Awesome This is the first video streamer I have used I only have experience with Android players, my Nvidia Shield and my Sony TVs built in streamer that actually works like a proper video player should. The FF and RW are actually usable. It is possible to find your way within a movie to nearly the exact second of elapsed time you are looking for. Try that with Android TV, I am lucky to get within five minutes of a certain time. Sometimes if I put a movie on pause with my Android devices when I come back say 5 minutes later it may have stopped playing the movie altogether and I am left navigating my way back to what I was watching. Not to name names but the A.P. player is simply awful on Android. With this Apple streamer I have put movies on hold and come back even an hour later and find it to be just where I left it. Bravo Apple The Apple TV 4k is worth it to me just for this alone. With all its other outstanding features it is for sure a keeper.

Ive used Apple TV for years and its just worked. The equilevent to this device on the Android side would be the Nvidia Shield which was, by all means, an excellent device. However, while Hulus fault, the Live TV only broadcasted in 480p unless Chromecasted to the Shield. On the Apple TV 4K, Ive always had great image quality from all of my apps and the app store has every video app I would ever need but I do admit Roku is the leader in lesser used and known applications. The one thing Shield does so amazing that others could learn from is their AI Upscaling. Its something I wish my Apple TV had but its not a deal breaker.Apple TV is overpriced though. It doesnt really do much over Roku and youre basically paying the Apple Tax. But if you are deep into iOS and want AirPlay this is your best option.Note The remote is very small and difficult to hold. I would definitely pick up a small case to protect and provide better grip.

The box itself works fine, although we dont care for the new onscreen menu format. Again, Apple is so hardheaded on making unnecessary style and function changes to the Apple box remotes instead of simply IMPROVING them. Because this remote was slightly larger than the older models, we hoped it would be easier to use and not misplace. We found the touchpadmouse combo style control function was far too sensitive and makes the most simple tasks senselessly MORE difficult. We now keep it on hand just as a backup, but we shelved it shortly after buying another older model box and remote. Apple boxes are no different than iPhones. New NEVER guarantees better with Apple. What it always confirms is their business model of continual product obsolescence, which includes introducing new products they KNOW are flawed even before marketing begins while simultaneously throttling product performance and discontinuing support for older products and systems that work better.

A bit slow in connecting AppleTV to the Bluetooth remote. However, after that it was straight forward. Easily setup and installed our Cable TV App. Its working great. Looks like new. Process of getting used to the remote took a little time but now we are cruising through the channels with ease. Remote is small and thin dont drop it in your recliner lol. Great resolution for Spectrum compared to past experiences with Roku. Heavy duty streaming box. Great open box price

I had an Apple TV 2nd gen and really missed it. I invested in the 3 inexpensive alternatives but nothing compared to Apples tvOS. For me, it is easier and more convenient with the apps I use to stream. Netflix, Disney, Crunchyroll, Vudu, most cable tv networks. The 4K works flawlessly with my tv. Dolby vision recognizes immediately going through the Apple TV setup. I get zero lag time switching from app to home screen, then to another app. WiFi connection and loadingbuffering is much faster than my other streaming devices in the house. I enjoy not having to use AirPlay on my iPhone for playing Apple Music to my receiver since Apple Music is on the Apple TV.My only thing I am not a big fan of is the touch remote and prefer a directional pad like my old Apple TV remote. I am currently using my tv remote. I will be looking for the old style Apple TV remote.I did not need the 64GB model. I purchased it due to the 32GB being sold out at the 3 Best Buys in my area. 20 difference.Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I highly recommend to anyone having at least one iPhone in the household. Typing user names and passwords is a pain for any streaming device. The integration between iPhone and the Apple TV makes it a breeze.

I had a Roku Streaming Stick prior to the Apple TV but I wanted something a little more highend with multitasking abilities and a smoother experience. At first everything went smoothly, it was easy to set up because I have an iPhone as well. About a week goes by and then I start to notice some weird things going on.First the picture would skip frames like crazy and sometimes even go black altogether then come back on a few seconds later which I figured was fine and I could deal with it. As the issue became more persistent I did some research online and found this issue happens with a lot of people and to change the matching framerate and refresh rate settings on the Apple TV because the Apple TV upscales everything and tries to make it look better and enable them. Heres when things got really out of hand. Eventually the TV would go crazy with constant black screens flashing the picture in and out a few times before finally going black and becoming completely unresponsive. Did more research online and based on what I read a lot of peoples issues were fixed when they purchases Apples recommended Belkin HDMI 2.1 cable which transfers up to 48 gbps of data. I was using a 4K HDMI 2.0 cable which should get the job done to transfer 4K HDR video at 18 gbps. Why was my 4K HDMI not good enough for the Apple TV I do not know. But this is why I say Typical Apple because they clearly want to push people to order the Belkin HDMI cable through them even though you can get it other places, the majority will still go through Apple. It already doesnt come with an HDMI cable and then on top of that the one I already have isnt good enough so I need to go out and spend ANOTHER 30 on top of this already fairly expensive device. No thanks.Fast forward and I returned this hunk of junk for the Nvidia Shield. My current HDMI cable works PERFECTLY with it, no settings to fiddle around with to get it to work, AND it works with Amazons Alexa.Maybe it was my TV, maybe i had a defective unit, but overall the Apple TV just created way too much of a fuss for me to deal with when I just want to watch my freaking movies.

I love nearly everything about this product. The 4k streaming has never looked better, and I can finally get dolby vision on some of the appsshows I watch. Having a MacBook and iPhone made this even more enjoyable. I can now use airplay to extend or mirror my desktop to my 65 tv, adding a lot of flexibility and fun for FaceTime and zoom or simply sharing photos with guests. The remote control seemed cool at first with the touchpad and swiping functionality, but as time went on it became finicky and annoying. After a few weeks of using, Ive decided to pair one of PS4 controllers yes, you can do this. Same with Xbox to the Apple TV and use that as my remote. The directional buttons make it easier to navigate and I may check out the Apple TV games soon. I also own Rokus and Amazon fire sticks, and this blows them out of the water in terms of performance. The price tag is much higher, but Id recommend this hands down for your primary tv. Leave the rokus and other cheap devices in your guest rooms.

In having an older model of Apple TV, I wasnt sure it made much sense to upgrade to the 4K model aside from screen resolution. However, the UI and remote have undergone considerable upgrades. The software allows for greater ease of connectivity to IpadIphone, is quick to start up, allows for greater customization and has much better screensaver options than the original model. Channels like Shudder are available on this model, an upgrade from prior models. I also love that it can detected your cable network and auto authenticate. One of the biggest upgrades is the ability to use your IphoneIpad as a remote keyboard, making various functions so much more user friendly.

I own a 3 year old Smart TV now that the manufacturer has dropped support for so no new apps. Grab on of these to address that situatuion. Especially if you own iPhones andor iPads as they integrate very well. I own two of these and the previous AppleTV 3. The ability to install apps in these new models is far better than the previous generations of where you only got what apps Apple wanted you to have they werent very feature rich. TVOS being based on iOS really helps the app developers get a consistent experience across the platforms too. Being integrated with iCloud and being able to use AirPlay with these makes it easy to share things or show content on the TV from a iOS device. My two gripes with these devices is the remote is really small I find fiddly with my large hands so I dont really like it. Apple removed the TOSLink audio out too that was on the ATV3. Id prefer a direction pad than the touch pad on the new remotes but I use universal remote now. Not having TOSLink audio out means I cant directly connect the AppleTV to my amp for better sound and it has to go through the TV which down mixes the audio tracks to stereo, I need to upgrade my amp to a 4K unit to address this problem. I was planing to do that anyway as the amp is 9 years old now. My other 4K amp in a Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 setup handles the HDMI audio properly and the AppleTV streaming Atmos content from NetFlix is fantastic.

First Apple TV box bought for Apple TV. Picture quality very good on 4k TV. Remote control takes a bit of getting used to. Great to be able to display iPhone photos on the TV.However there is an elephant in the room and that is lip synch of picture and sound. I never researched this prior to purchase but if you do you will see this is not an unknown issue. There is now a settings feature that you can use with your iPhones microphone that supposedly sorts this. Ive tried numerous times and whilst improved its not yet perfect.I must point out I play sound through an AV receiver but all my streaming goes through this and Apple is the only device giving this problem. I may be able to improve further by many more trial and error recalibrations but come on Apple this is basic stuff and shouldnt be an issue.

I purchased the Apple TV to replace the slow and adridden smart TV interface on my Samsung TV. Being an almost allApple household, the Apple TV was an obvious choice. Its fast and responsive, has a great app library, and there are plenty of smaller features that make it great too. My only real complaint is that the remote could be a bit better. Its still miles better than most TV remotes, but could use some polishing.ProsFast, responsive, and well designed UIGreat picture quality with HDRPlenty of appsAbility to act as a HomeKit Hub for control outside the homeHDMICEC control No need for other remotes, this one controls TV power, soundbar power, and volumeAudio rerouting to AirPods which is a lifesaver for nighttime watching while others in the house are busyConsThe remote is a bit tricky at times. The touchpad is pretty intuitive, but it also has a tendency to misclick sometimes. Also doesnt allow for very fast scrolling No dedicated powersleep button on the remote

Excellent streaming device. Integrated easily into my streaming wish list. Wide variety of apps available from Apple APPs and Apple Support does excellent job keeping it all running. Supports the latest high end video and audio formats. While SIRI and the rechargeable remote features are a significant improvement over the original battery model remote, I still do not see the userend functional advantage of the trackpad over the original thumbwheel.

I bought the Apple TV 4k to replace a 2nd gen model on a non 4k TV. I like the new GUI and setting it up was relatively easy although there was some confusion when using my iPhone as the remote. The actual remote is difficult to use. Its very sensitive so moving the cursor takes practice. After install I noticed that the quality of the picture on my TV was very poor. And actually I believe it was a result of the Apple TV, but Im not sure. I also get periodic black screens now. And again I cant tell if its this unit or the cable. The screens may be an indication of buffering, but I cant tell because nothing comes up. The black screens go away in 1015 seconds. Also its really become a nuisance that I have to reset the Apple TV 4k before I can bring up HBOmax. A week after I purchased my Apple TV 4k, and new model was announced. Oh well.

Overall, I like the Apple TV. Ive had Rokus in the past and I liked them as well, but one of them had a problem with the audio and I got tired of having to reboot it, so I thought Id try the Apple TV. The UI is pretty easy to use and the set up was no hassle.I think my biggest complaint is that the top part of the remote is really sensitive and I end up all over the place sometimes. I have a universal remote that Ive setup so that fixes that problem.I do like that the remote is rechargeable and the same cord used to charge my iPhone is used for this.Oh, and the voice recognition is good, too. I used it to input passwords in various streaming apps.

Its unboxed now so I cant return it but this thing is awful Its functionality with HomePod is pretty tragic, the remote is going to take a lot of getting used to as its so dainty and Ive quite slim hands and not user friendly, the NowTV app is dreadful with no option to watch live as you get with every other platform. The content on AppleTV is a little thin and quite frankly all the apps for other content are identical to the ones built into my smart tv already. Each to their own and do your research, perhaps a nice Apple branded coaster is what youre looking forThe positives It looks neat and if you dont have a HomePod, this can act as your hub for smart HomeKit enabled devices apparently, Ive not tested this personally as I have a HomePod.

Briefly, I purchased the 4K unit to replace Apple TV II. My wife and daughter wanted Discovery Plus and this was one way to get it. I am an Apple guy, so figured Id upgrade. Walmart had best price. The unit is nice size, same as II, and once you get it setup works great. However, no instructions included, you have to get it online, but to be fair, out of box setup, once unit fires up is relatively easy. The biggest problem is the included remote, which has no instructions, and is not intuitive to use, and its touch pad is way to sensitive which causes selection errors. Just awful. After I got set up done, I programmed my Harmony 650 remote to control it, and all is well. Apple is getting just like BMW and Mercedes, everything is totally over engineered.

I have tried numerous streaming devices including the Roku Ultra, the Fire TV stick, and the Shield TV. The Apple TV 4K is the most solid performer with my TV, a Samsung 2020 65 Frame TV. It is easy to setup and provides solid Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and 4k content when present. It has a wide range of Apps available and considerable flexibility. Before someone says, wait the Samsung Frame doesnt support some of these features, this is true however by inserting an HDFury Arcana inbetween the streaming device and the Samsung, it is possible to get all of these features. My speakers are WISA certified and I use the WISA SoundSend to send audio to the speakers. The Arcana is part of the loop. This combination produced rock solid performance where using the other streaming devices produced drop sound and various other issues with the Samsung if you wanted more than Stereo or Dolby Digital.

I love my Apple TV 4K, it will play on any TV with HDMI connection. You will also need WIFi. It is compatible with 4K TVs, you can play better resolution content if your TV and whatever you are streaming is high resolution. It is a streaming box, you can upload any of your favorite apps like Netflix, Hulu, Disney plus, amazon prime and all other streaming apps, its great for travel you take all your streaming accounts with you. It works great with your iPhone or iPad, you can control the Apple TV with your iphone or with the Siri remote. You can also play music and it has some wonderful screen savers. I have stayed in places were there are no smart TVs with Apple TV you make it like a smart tv. If you stream a lot like I do and travel like I do this is a nice thing to have. There are a few things that I did come across like, my cableinternet provider has an app to stream my channels but their app doesnt work that well unless you are home. But if the app works on your iPhone like mine does you can stream on your iPhone and mirror it to your Apple TV and it will display on your TV. Or download each channel app and watch it from there. Another thing would be to match your display to the Apple TV settings. Nice additions for sound is the HomePod you link them and you get amazing sound watching your favorite movies, shows or music. It is easy to navigate, if you search for a specific show or movie it will search through all your accounts and play it. Or you can choose and go directly to the streaming app and watch it. If you have movies anywhere app and you been validating your digital movies when you buy Blurays, Apple TV also gives you your collection of movies. 32gb is more than enough if you are going to be streaming. The only reason for memory is if you are downloading movies directly to the Apple TV you might only be able to fit a few. But if you must download better do it to your 256gb iPhone and mirror it to your Apple TV. I am an Apple user iPhone, iPad, Mac air, HomePod so it works perfect for me.

This device is awesome. Everything about it gives the impression of quality. Its powerful, enough so that its capable of playing small video games found on its app store. Gaming on a streaming box isnt something Im looking to do, but the devices power still makes traversing menus and digging through streaming catalogues smooth and snappy. The addition of an ethernet wired network plug is fantastic. Wired connections are more reliable than wireless ones, and while the Apple TVs wireless connection worked great when I tried it, I always prefer a wired one when I can get it.As for the remote, its strange and neat enough that Ill talk about it in a dedicated section later in the review. The user interface the menus and whatnot are very nice. It borrows from the iPhones interface design, and adapts it to the big screen. Apps on the home screen can be rearranged and put into folders, and folders can be renamed. Apps can be prioritized at the top of the home screen, allowing for features like recommended shows to be seen before launching the app.App icons are far larger than those on the iPhone or iPad, meaning these features come at no cost to usability or visibility. It takes advantage of Apples previous design successes and adapts them for a different use.The remote is strange and high enough quality that it was worth showing off to people on its own and not just because it looks like a baby iPhone. The remotes touch padbased controls are surprisingly intuitive and comfortable to use. Directional buttons on other remotes dont feel obsolete, but the touchpad is clearly a worthwhile addition for the Apple TV.Many icons in the interface detect subtle motions on the touchpad and use this to swivel a bit on the screen, with most icons having multiple layers to provide a 3D effect when this happens. I love this. It doesnt add any functionality but its slick. Little attention to detail like that can really leave an impression.Whats more, most TV show seasons Ive bought from the iTunes store use this depth effect for their menu icons. Thats just cool.Initially I was annoyed that the top right button, the one with a little TV on it, always launched the Apple TV app thats Apples own streaming service. Turns out the system settings app allows you to toggle whether this button launches Apple TV or returns you to the home screen. No other options are available, but I much prefer having it set to the home screen. The top left button Menu is the one youll press when you want to go to back a page in the menus or inside apps. Holding this button returns you to the home screen.Lastly for what Ill cover the OK or accept button is just a click of the touchpad. Not a gentle tap on the surface, but a press of the entire surface, which doubles as a big, physical button.Apple TVs remote is strange, but its very high quality, it has some unique features I really like, and using it becomes intuitive very quickly. To wrap things up, the Apple TV is an excellent streaming device easily the most premium one Ive ever seen. Everything about it is slick and refined. Functionally, its intuitive, snappy, and capable of everything youd want from a streaming device. You pay for the quality, though. As someone who uses streaming devices all the time, I found the hefty price tag to absolutely be worth it, but if youre less picky, you can get all the functionality you need for far less money.I love this thing, but I wouldnt recommend it to anyone not looking to splurge a bit. However, if youre looking for the absolute best streaming device out there, this is it. I highly recommend buying one.

The Apple TV is, on its own, a great video streamer, and even better when integrated with other Apple products and services. My first Apple TV was the 2nd generation model and I was motivated to buy it so that I could play my iTunes video library on my TV instead of my computer. The 3rd generation introduced 1080 support, and the 4th generation introduced 3rd party apps as well as gaming. the 4K model 5th generation takes that to another level with more storage capacity and a powerful processor. Its more expensive than its competitors, but I much prefer its functionality and integration ability to similar products by other companies.

I feel like Im stuck buying Apple TVs. Im vested in Apple and will never be able to break away. From MacBook, phones, iPads, AirPods, Apple Watch and my 3 Apple TVs, including this one.I love using iTunes and buyingrenting movies, using Apple Music thru my surround sound are two reasons smart tvs dont always do it for me.But I wish theyd come down on the price. With Rokus and Amazon products fire sticks entering the market around 25, Apple isnt staying competitive and sucking every dollar out of loyal customers. My smart tv has Roku which has the Apple TV app but it doesnt allow me to play my music.Im a sucker… Apple gets me again and Im happy with the purchase

Although apple tv 4k has been out for a few years Ive got to say that this is worth it. Its a little pricey, but definitely one of the better streaming devices out there right now. One of my only gripes would be the remote. The swiping on the remote is a little wonky, so I use the voice control as much as possible. I would say the roku remote is definitely better, but thats my only real problem with this thing. Otherwise, this still holds up strong against the newly released roku devices and say the fire cube tv.

We recently found out that our LG TV was just a bit too old to let us download some of the streaming apps we want to use Disney being the primary one. And our Comcast cable box also would not allow us to download this app. This forced my family to pick a streaming box. Because we currently are bought in to the Apple ecosystem, this was the logical choice.Very easy to set up. Connected to wifi without issue. Remote is sleek and cool, though it takes some getting used to using the track pad feature. Voice remote is akin to Comcast Xfinity voice control.Nice ability to create multiple profiles for different family members. Also extremely easy to use Apple Airplay to stream content from phone photos, videos, etc onto TV.

I dropped Dish and this device is the perfect replacement, and a LOT more. I get Netflix through my TMobile account, I added Hulu Live, I already had an HD HomeRun in my local network. After the simple hookup and setup, I added a few more apps and now Im saving 50 every month, plus Im getting the exact content that I want. Buying Apple TV will also get me a free year of their new TV service which Im looking forward to checking out. This device is more expensive than other streamers but the interface is just head and shoulders above everything else. I picked up the 32 GB version as Im not a gamer and only plan on having 10 or fewer additional apps on top of Apples default app load. If you already have some Apple devices and want a 4K streaming device, youll love this Apple TV. The remote is a little funky, but were getting used to it and iPhone or iPad work as remotes which I find a little bit easier to navigate with. This little device is also is about ten times smaller than my old Dish box, saving a ton of space and cleaning up a messy tangle of coax cables Last but not least, the team at BestBuy did a great job explaining it all to me before I made my final decision.

Have had this Apple TV for over 1.5 years now and we love it. We also bought a 55 Vizio TV at the same time and both work seamlessly together. I find the picture to be clearer and crisper versus our Roku streaming device. But more importantly, I just prefer the menu and the integration with other Apple products and accounts. I like to have the same experience, design, buttons, etc between my phone, TV, computer, etc. It helps my spouse as well. The clear MVP of this product is the remote which is just fun to interact with both the trackpad and the Sirivoice aspect. Its just genius. There are other aspects of privacy issues that are worth looking in to. From what I can tell both Roku and Google are simply selling your information out to third parties. I cant say with Amazon. But Apple, they state, keep all their information on you inhouse and with Apple. Maybe that plays a part into why I like this product. Mostly its just a great designed software and remote.

At first, the remote was a bit hard to figure out. However, it is not that difficult once you get it. This is required by our cable provider to get their channels. I do like the use of one device for many different TV options including netflix, paramount, hbo, etc. I also like that I can do on demand with this. The remote does not use batteries and has to be charged, but it does stay charged for a long time. I think I have only charged it twice in about 34 months. I do have concerns that it runs off wifi so if my wifi goes out, so does this and no TV. I guess that is my sign that I should be doing something else….lol

This Apple TV HD replaces out decade old Roku box. We liked the Roku box for what it did all those years, but this last year, with Roku boxes we had, just had too many issues and both are dead.So when it came time to replace them, we looked hard at both the highest end Roku boxes, the Apple TV options, we even thought about just replacing the TV with a Smart TV that already had the apps we wanted. In short, we absolutely made the best decision with the Apple TV HD.We would have gone with the 4K model except that the TV this was attached to is 720p and wont be upgraded anytime soon. Because we are already in the Apple Ecosystem, this fit in quite well, and even made things like separating family member accounts, and who sees what, very seamless and handy. Its also great if you have Apple Fitness Being able to see the workouts on a larger screen is a HUGE plus.Lets talk about searching apps. Rokus remote sucks. the Apple TV Remote with the Siri Button is beyond awesome. Just press the button, tell Siri what you are looking for, release the button, and Viola Its like Magic We will never go back to the single letter typing of the Roku. If thats not enough, if you have an iPhone or iPad, you can use those as remotes as well, with the same functionality as the Siri Remote. Very well thought outAnd then theres Apple Homekit We are just getting started with Homekit, but we see serious potential as we continue to build on it.Overall, Id give this 7 out of 10 stars if I could since we ended up getting much more than expected out of it.

I like Apple because of ease of use. Phones, computers, tablet, and now TV. AND access DisneyI got Disney but I have Comcast and they dont offer that app, so I could only watch on iPad. Short of buying a new TV, Samsung comes with app, this was my only choice. I tried iPad to TV, no joy.Bought this little guy so I could get my DisneyPixarMarvel fix.To the product ease of use, though it did take a call to service center to set up. I couldnt figure out the remote. For me it was not intuitive. User idiocy or no instructions or both.Call center said they get many calls with the same issue. Communication in packaging would be great. That said and once all was set up AppleTV The remote is nice and tiny, adventurous to find. Hard to hold, the little bugger leaps out of your hand and hides. It is uber sensitive, one little touch, and something new will appear on your TV. The buttons are tiny, not well marked and made for tiny fingers. One star off because of the remote. The remote seems flimsy, as well.

This is our first Apple TV and wish we got it sooner. We dont have a smart TV and have been using Vodafone TV and Chromecast for the last 2 years. We got it so we could access Disney plus since Vodafone TV wont get it and the Chromecast always buffers. Now we can watch everything we want. The Apple TV gives us exactly what we need and works so much better than the other two. We just wish we could access live TV on it then it would be perfect. Love the picture and how you can AirPlay from your Apple device. Time to throw away the Chromecast.

The Apple TV is a great streamingcasual gaming device The setup process is very easy and if you already have an iPhone it becomes even easier when you hold your iPhone near Apple TV Your iPhone will transfer WiFi and iCloud settings automatically. So if you forgot what your password is for WiFi, no worries Once you get into the main screen, youre greeted with only a few icons. Head into the App Store and its simple to download YouTube, NetFlix, Hulu, Etc in a few seconds. I like to game using Steam Link and have had a flawless experience using WiFi to stream from my desktop in the next room over Speaking of gaming You can use an Xbox or PS controller to not only play games, but to substitute as an Apple Remote, if you dont like the remote in the box I appreciate the small gesture of choice. Siri, as usual, is functional on Apple TV, but thats the best praise she gets. She can search for things, but as for Liking a video on YouTube or any other similar type of interaction on Apple TV, she cant do it. Disappointing when Google Assistant can like videos and songs on Spotify. The trackpad on Apple Remote is a bit sensitive out of the box for my taste, but your mileage may vary. The remote is very light, yet wellbuild. The trackpad portion at the top is very smooth and easy to use. Buttons has a very satisfying click to them. Apple TV does not respond to Hey Siri, but you instead have to HOLD DOWN the microphone button and say your command. Not an issue for me, but might throw some people off who are very used to just saying Hey Siri for everything.During setup, Apple TV will prompt you to check Dolby Vision compatibility. My TV Passed this check on the HDMI and TV compatibility, but I found in certain scenes where dynamic range was very demanding, some scenes looked discolored. Once I turned off Dolby Vision and went to standard 4K HDR, i checked those same scenes and no issues So if you encounter the same thing, try my solution and that should help. Odds are if you have a high end TV like a Samsung Q60SonyX8Vizio pseries, your tv will be compatible. I have a Vizio Mseries TV, so any comparable quality tvs like wont be compatible with Dolby Vision, too. I can see a difference in color range, but your mileage may vary.Apple TV is very quick, responsive and simple to use. So far after using it for a few hours and overcoming some minor issues, coming from a faulty 4K Roku stick, I am VERY happy with my first Apple TV Its pricy, but if you want something simple, responsive and already own an iPhonemany Apple products, this is awesome to havePS You have to BUY an HDMI cord. One does not come in the boxHappy watching

I didnt understand why I was buying an Apple TV other than I have one of the worlds last flatscreen dumb tvs, and truth be told could have just bought a new TV for the price. I wanted to see what this was all about though.Apple TV is a fancy, expensive way to augment your tvviewing experience into an Apple experience, which is not a bad thing. It provides 4k and Dolby Atmos if you have the equipment to take advantage of that. It has an awesome remote with a touchpad that feels like a gorgeous iPod shuffle in your hand. It has Siri. You can speak your text instead of typing things out slowly. You can use 2 HomePods as stereo surround sound. You can airplay anything from other apple devices, and even a PC with AirParrot. You can view your photo library, and access the App Store Very cool. It took time, but I now love Apple TV.

Better picture than the rest, no blips or flaws in operation, and integrates with other Apple products without a hitch. But, the remote I cannot understand how any company could approve this remote. It is annoying enough to cause me to return the product but, our granddaughter loves everything Apple, and has everything Apple. So, we keep the product and work very hard to adjust to this deeply, terribly annoying remote. Yes, I know I can use my phone to substitute for the remote but, the remote for any product should be user friendly and certainly not annoying.

We bought the new Apple TV because there were several streaming providers HBO Max, Disney that we couldnt access with our Apple TV that was likely the original model. The latest version is better to use and the remote is much more functional. But I have to say that I was disappointed in the time it took to set up and the learning curve for using it. By Apple product standards the set up was complicated particularly since the remote is so different and there were no instructions included. Also, I think Apple made it harder than necessary to download the other streaming service apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime.Absent those issues I would have rated it excellent.
Basinboy –
I am normally not a fan of Apple. I wanted to get Dolby Atmos for Netflix. This device is the only way you can get it. So I took a chance. The unit is more responsive then my Roku Ultra. I even like the remote that is not that popular with Apple folks. You can play many of the games you would play on your phone or tablet and they look great on a 65 inch tv. The picture is fantastic as is the sound. Roku still has more esoteric video apps. There is a reason this is more expensive then the others. What can I say, this Android fan is sold. I took a bit of the Apple.

We purchased a Sony X850G 85 4K TV in 2020. The picture is magnificent, but the software is very buggy it might be the dumbest smart TV out there. Specifically, about every 2030 days the software would lock out all of our application data, requiring a complete factory reset of the TV. This became a tedious task, requiring 3045 minutes each time to reenter application log in data for things like Netflix, Hulu, etc.Enter Apple TV. We had the previous model for probably 10 years, and used it very seldom. I always thought it was sort of a device looking for a job because we could stream through our Playstation, and streaming really wasnt a big thing until 23 years ago. With the TV issues it suddenly made sense a little digital hub with nice, safe, stable Apple firmware that could manage all our iTunes digital content, but also give us access to all our streaming apps. We decided to give it a shot, and upgraded to the 4K version to take full advantage of our TVs capability.Great move the device is a major upgrade from the previous version. Applesimple to use, Applereliable to use. Works every time. Streams beautiful 4K content from every app you can think of without all the clutter of a smart TV interface. Load up what you need, and only what you need. Weve had it for 30 days and thus far, its performed flawlessly. Another great piece of Apple hardware that was ahead of its time by 10 years Apple TV is now the perfect digital entertainment hub for home.

I own just about every streaming device there is FireTV, Roku, smart TVs, etc. Apple TV is far away the best especially if you own multiple Apple products such as an iPhone and iPad. It syncs will all of your Apple devices and makes switching between seamless. As if that werent enough, apps like Hulu, Netflix, HBOMax, and Disney, work better here than on other devices. Even Prime Video is better developed here and is more intuitive than on its native device FireTV. And if youre like me, you have a TV streaming service instead of cable or satellite. Mine is YouTube TV and the biggest problem I had was finding a device that carries the app that isnt Google owned. Amazon cant come to an agreement with Google so theres no telling when or if it will ever be available there. So I purchased a Roku stick just to stream my YouTube TV, and its interface is extremely clunky, buggy and in sore need of an operational overhaul. The Apple TV doesnt suffer from any of these issues. Yes, its pricey, but it eliminates the need for any other device and the ease of use and intuitiveness of the operating system make it well worth the price tag in my opinion.

Apple has released a product that Id say is a must buy if you have a 4k television. Regardless if you are in the apple ecosystem or not this device will really transform your entertainment center. Apple will still support this device and older devices, by releasing excellent content through their streaming services and apps. This device works well with most apple devices. Its easy to use and the siri integration is a game changer. I think the price of this item is a tad high considering other similar devices exist on the market, none are as refined as this one i believe. If i had to complain about something it would be the fact that this doesnt ship with an HDMI cable which is something to consider because it becomes an added cost. I hope with future iterations they beef up the internals to compete with game consoles and throw in a compatible high speed HDMI cable to sweeten the deal. Otherwise this device has exceeded my expectations and will remain the only device I need in my entertainment center for the foreseeable future.

I love the AppleTV integration with my notsmart TV. Plug and play. But I hate the touch pad on the remote. The slightest pressure or accidental brush makes random menus appear that can be maddeningly difficult to dismiss, or it exits the program you are watching altogether. At other times, I swipe left or right or upper down seems to have no effect at all. What an annoyance. After 5 weeks Im Still not used to it. If possible the remote is even more slippery than the silver version from older AppleTV models. Forever getting lost in the couch cushions or your clothing or falling on the floor and because its black you can never find it. But The Siri function on the remote is pretty good. otherwise this generation AppelTV is a good product.

You have to like Apples interface and theres no better TV device if youre firmly in the Apple ecosystem. I have four of these Apple TVs in my two homes. However, the remote is a disaster. Jonny Ive should lose his knighthood over this one. It looks good, but the remote trackpad is just plain useless. You find yourself oscillating between your intended selection, or sometimes it wont respond to your touch. Doesnt matter what sensitivity you set for the trackpad. The remote is too thin you pick it up and you almost cant help touching the trackpad. It still puzzles me that this remote is still being produced.

Works great in my Apple ecosystem. Not sure I would have gotten it or I would get as much use out of it if I didnt have other complementary Apple products was actually the gateway to getting the HomePod minis although they dont work with the Apple TV like the original HomePod doesI read someones fairly negative review which included the sensitivity of the remote, which was absolutely spot on. However, after a quick google search, I adjust the sensitivity in settings and bingo. My only negative is the price. Ive dropped aSmall fortune on Apple stuff and work with it on a daily basis. There is usually a feeling of satisfaction with the product despite the price. This didnt quite hit that mark for me, even though I use it all the time.Im still not a huge fan of the Apple TV subscription. GuessIm till trying to figure out the point, so maybe if I learned more about it, Id find it worthwhile. All in all, once I came to terms that Apple develops stuff to work perfectly with Apple stuff so the end user experience is fantastic, I began to stick with Apple. I guess thats the point, but they get it right way more often then wrong, so for the time being, Im ok with it.

While the Apple TV 4K is a bit pricey compared to other alternatives, and it is getting a bit long in the tooth its still a fantastic streaming device. The interface is unmatched by other streaming devices, and the Apple TV App Store is unparalleled especially with support for not just streaming apps, but games and utilities. The biggest downside of the Apple TV is its remote the Siri Remote. While I personally like the remote, many people do not, and I completely understand one. The biggest downside is that it is completely symmetrical, making it difficult to determine what side is up and what side is down without looking at the remote. In addition, the touchpad can be quite sensitive and can take a bit of getting used to. However, if you take the time to use the remote and get used to its quirks, its actually quite powerful.

Im a huge fan of Apple but for some reason always shied away from trying this. Im used to Roku, did Chromecast, etc. The thing that always held me back was negative reviews and comments about the remote control. Its NOT that complicated especially if you have or do use a computer. It took me about 30 minutes of playing with it to get the feel of operating it smoothly but it comes with a little instruction pack that explains everything simply. I LOVE IT Its an amazing system Its so simple to use and you can add HBO MAX and many other channels watch it right away I now find myself watching more on Apple TV than Roku and I canceled ATT.tv altogether Give it a try Its a dream product once you get the hang of the remote. ONE THING TO MENTION THOUGH You DO NEED AN HDMI cord to set it up which is NOT INCLUDED. Make sure you pick one up before you do your setup. Best Buy has many great choices for those, too

Apple TV seems easy to use. I personally hate the remote. Its too small. Im always losing it, more often than the Roku remote. My dog will barely touch it and well be 30 minutes into the future watching DeadwoodThe touch portion on the top of the remote is upsetting. It might take some getting used to but I just want more physical buttons. It would also be cool if the remote had backlit buttons. For the price of this device, the remote is BELOW AVERAGE. The remote needs more universal remote options added. More options for changing the menu. A proper back button. An off button. I could go on.

Ive got Apple TVs throughout my housea couple legacy versions, plus a couple Apple TV HD and several of the 4K. Setting up the device is a breeze just have any one of your iOS devices close at hand, and the setup is completely automatic. Your iTunes library is instantly at your command. I have a voluminous amount of movies and TV shows in my library, and I can call any one of them up at any time, across multiple Apple TV 4K devices, at the same time. Wired and wireless both 2.4 and 5GHz connections are supported. If your TV supports it, the Apple TV remote can control the TV volume. Most importantly, the most important apps for streaming are available, including but not limited to Disney, Hulu, Netflix, Sling, and YouTube, among others. If youre a gamer, theres a nice arcade available. I havent tried that though, but Im sure its probably fun. The price tag is a bit hefty though…you can get a lot of the same functionality in an Amazon Fire Stick. However, you cant beat the Apple ecosystem once content is in your library, its available on ALL your devices.

Picture, sound transmission from iPhone or wifi all great and easy set up by using your iphone next to the device to sync. The unit turns itself on and then my Samsung tv will turn itself off every 15 minutes. Evidently based on google searches the Apple TV detects devices and turns on which is fine except then the tv starts turning off. I have to turn all devices off then back on. Very annoying. Otherwise a good product. The older gen Apple TV did not cause this problem.

I purchased this to use as part of my training set up on my road bike. I had been using my laptop to run a programme called Zwift. I had nothing but issues and I saw a lot op people used their IPads to control the trainer. I wanted more than a 10 screen my laptop was 17 screen when it worked so I figured using the apple TV with a 23 monitor would work great. So far the set up hasnt skipped a beat. Ive done a few 46 hour rides no joke without a hiccup. Its been awesome, and I wish I had done this a year agoThe bluetooth connects with my trainer and my heart rate monitor every time, for both cadence and speed, plus resistance to replicate up to a 20percent grade.Massive improvement over my laptop, and as I do about 200 miles a week on this during the winter, it has been a revelation. Would recommend to anyone

You can be an Android fan and still love this Apple TV 4K device. Its ok Forget the more affordable options out there especially if you own a 4K tv or have a Dolby Atmos surround sound. The device is addicting but like anything new it takes time to setup and appreciate everything it can do.If youre still reading this needing more persuasion or reason to consider this device then look I get it, youre either an Android fan or just trying to justify the higher price point. Its simple. Do you want the most content you can get in 4K HDR Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos Because if you get anything else, you will be missing out on premium content. Why did you even buy a 4K tv then if you cant enjoy it to its fullest potentialThis beats cable, DirecTV, TiVo, and all the other smart tv devices out there hands down. Have a different opinion about that I guarantee you personally dont own one yet.Make sure you upgrade all your streaming services to 4K if you havent already. You need to be a little tech savvy or have a willingness to research YouTube videos and learn what this device is fully capable of. With that being said it does walk you thru setup. Make sure you do so you can enjoy everything. Already one an Apple device Even faster setup because you already have an Apple IDemail. Dont It will help you create one so you can download streaming apps and even arcade games. Apple TV is like Apples Netflix. The shows are amazing and worth the cost of the device alone. Hey, this is an Apple device, so you can pretty much bank on the fact that it is well built. The Apple TV is solid. It is easy to set up. You will need an Apple ID to set it up, which is free, if you do not already have one. It is a great addition to your home if you are already the owner of Apple products iPhone, iPad, MacBook, etc.. This streamer has all of the major streaming apps plus Apple game apps, and you can mirror the screens of all Apple devices with very little setup. This unit comes with the updated Remote, which is a great improvement over the original Remote.

Without any doubt this is the best streaming device on the market. Picture quality is superb, control is easy and quick.Just the new screen saver is worth the upgrade Watch the fantastic scenes from all over the world while listening to your music collection from your phone or your computer.I also like the new Arcade it is OK the way it is but if you get a separate bluetooth controller it takes gaming up a notch maybe not as great as a dedicated console but you can play the same game on your phone as well.

I bought a Roku and a Alexa based Smart TV, after having Apple TV 4 3.. two things are clear. 1. There are more apps in RokuAlexa products. 2. There are also way way too many commercials you have to deal with trying to watch anything on them Even browsing reviews on YouTube is a 2 precontent commercial affair along with multiple commercials DURING content streaming. I dont mean a long 1 hr. Review of Electronics, even a 34min. Short clip will have multiple yellow markers where you will have to bear interrupted content..or fumble for the remote to back out of the clip to push content forward…In short, it SucksThe Apple TV 4K is just like the previous versions with upgraded content when available, and more to the point here..Very few commercialsI feel for PC users.. but I switched to macs 15 years ago, being a electronic musician. If you have not tried anything Apple before, just this small change will make your life more enjoyable

Pros Ive been using Apple TV since the first revision. My likes1. I wanted multi room for my streaming services. This devices with the relevant App and license on 1 devices offers this. I have one in every room theres a TV.2. I can connect the Apple TV device using either Wifi or Gbit Ethernet cable. With my BT Whole Home wifi configuration this combination gives me a great service availability.3. The number of Apps available is growing and all the UK primary suppliers are available4. I can beam video streams played on my iPhone or IPAD onto the big screen via the Apple TV as long as the service is enabled on the hand held device App. Some Box Office Apps could steal a lead if they think about this. Who wants to watch a premium priced sport event on a hand held 5. In my opinion is a more reliable App platform than the Smart TV we are using.6. There quite a lot more to investigate and features Im yet to explore. Dont be put off by the little black box look.Cons 1. A Wall mount option ie a bracket or holder2. Ill need to investigate the functionality further. Im sure therell be something of an opportunity.

Pros Most streaming apps sync to Apple TV app except Netflix and Hulu. Apple Arcade, Apple Music, Apple Fitness on the big screen Product will have a long shelflife considering its delivering 4K, 60hz, HDR10 if your TV supports it Memory size for those with big movie libraries Siri is pretty smart and delivers promising results when asked to start playing music, show, etc. Homekit integration if you use it also makes this a powerful toolCons Price is a bit steep for a product 3 years old Cant integrate Netflix or Hulu, which means you still have to switch apps to use those services No Google Apps besides Youtube which hurts since my smart home is connected using Google

Got this as refurbished and has had a few glitches but been pretty good so far.Picture is great, especially on my 4K LG. Dolby Vision really enhances the picture. Processor lets this run very quick with no lag. I tried out YouTubeTv from my tv and Appletv and channels tune in a lot faster with Appletv. The ability to be able to type from my iPhone or iPad is the best feature, especially when setting up apps or searching.I did have some problems with some of the apps crashing, Vudu especially. Updates didnt help and it was driving me nuts. I ended up wiping it out a couple of times resetting and that fixed whatever was going on. It wiped everything out, updated, and then restored my content. Everything was fine after that.I have a universal remote so I dont use the Apple remote it came with. I did try using a couple of times but it felt awkward, maybe with more time it would be better.Appletv is great but is a bit expensive, Roku Ultra with Dolby Vision is a better value.

The box is heavy for its small size but very smooth and simple in design. HDMI 2, Ethernet, and power ports at the back. The device plugs in and attempts to set itself up but asking simple and plain questions which are easy to follow, understand and answer. If you have an iPhone or iPad its even easier to set up as the device recognises your details already in the phone and transfers these automatically. The ATV also can act as a home hub for HomeKit. The picture and sound is the best Ive seen I also own a 4K Roku and a 4K Nvidia Shield. The arcade makes this a cool light gaming device and the choice of apps in the App Store are good. Not as varied as the Roku but much higher quality. Its not really possible to hack or sideload apps on the ATV like it is on the Nvidia Shield so if you are looking for KODI or to stream from a home server this might not be the best choice. Stick to Nvidia Shield for that. Overall Highly recommended but if kit especially if you have other Apple devices andor have some media purchased through the Apple store.

I knew nothing about the Apple TV before purchasing, honestly. I have only the fire stick and Roku to compare it too. Given that I have an iPhone and iPad I thought it would be cool to skip the tv adapter and purchase the Apple TV. I am not disappointed This thing is amazing The layout is exactly as one would expect from an apple product. There is a gaming app you can connect a ps4 or Xbox controller to, which is a neat featureTo be honest I havent mastered the remote yet. It was frustrating the first couple of days trying to work it out. Instead, I found out that I could sync our tvs remote to the Apple TV and use it instead It let me pick and choose which buttons I preferred to control the Apple TV which made it much easier for myself and my familyAnother cool feature is being able to airplay things to the tv. Game Changer I was able to share fun photos and videos of my kids with my whole family over the tv instead of passing my phone around. Much more enjoyable This was definitely one of my favorite purchases and I look forward to learning more cool features it has to offer

This is our 4th Apple TV. We bought the 1st gen big white box years ago, the Apple TV 3, the Apple TV 4, and now the Apple TV 4K. We had the Apple TV 3 in our bedroom and my wife kept commenting that we couldnt get Disney on it it comes with a default set of channels, so we decided to buy the Apple TV 4K. I put the 4K on our main TV in the family room, moved the 4 into our bedroom so now we have Disney in the bedroom, and moved the 3 into the loft on a third TV that we have. It doesnt matter as much now with Movies Anywhere, but over the last decade we have accumulated over 200 digital movies either by redeeming digital copies through iTunes or buying them through iTunes, Vudu, or Amazon. We like the Apple TVs simplicity and the ability to hook them to our phone remote app. Apple makes a nice polished product and we keep sticking with Apple.

Better that the smart feature on my Sony x900f which running and older chip. Maybe the newest Sony models are much improved Dolby Vision etc.Definitely much easier to use if you have Mac products already iPhoneIPad etc as they integrate perfectly. No Lag, much better UI , though you really are stuck with the Belkin Cables. They should just include them with purchase. Hopefully the next model will have the newer chip and other cool features.

Love it so much, we bought another oneIve tried the Roku devices and the apps that come bundled with a TV. After using this, there is simply no comparison. What I would really like is if I could purchase a dumb TV with no apps just inputs and enough firmware to run the thing. After that, Ill plug in my AppleTV and get all of the features Im looking for.The native clients are simply much better than what I had on my Roku premier Plex app is cleaner and much more responsive Netflix and Amazon Movies work seamlessly and are well integrated with both voice input and iPhoneiPad keypad The cable apps ABCNBCFoxetc all sign in with my cable provider easily All of it integrates on the AppleTV home page showing you whats up next, and what I might be interested in. Best of all, it integrates with my HomeKit devices as a hub. All my lighting, thermostats, and even garage door opener is controlled from this central location.Apple really got it right integrating everything and this AppleTV shows.

I think this product is worth it for a few reasons. The smoothness I now have moving between platforms Netflix, iview, SBS on demand, YouTube, makes life easier. Search function looks at all platforms too. Has improved my picture quality and we have way less issues with buffering. My tv is quite old not smart, so it really improved the functionality. Also appreciate the way you can screen mirror from iPhone which is great for watching own videos and viewing photos. Remote is easy to use also.Husband questioned usefulness vs cost, as Apple free year came with deal, has quite a limited Title range. In the apple menu it shows tons of moviesseries but most arent apple and require payment to watch. Have now discovered a way to just see apple offerings, so this helps. Overall Im happy with my purchase, easy to connect and use. Has added lots of functionality to my older plasma TV.

Apple TV made our nice TV resolution clearer and removed wait times, as the smart tv needed about 5 minutes to connect to internet. The process of using the device was pretty intuitive for our family and we loaded our favorite apps and starting enjoying in less than an hour.Learned early on that Apple TV airplay settings needed to be turned off in order to eliminate other apple products from interfering with the follow of entertainment. Even my laptop started connecting to the device. Luckily, we were able to figure this out in less than 30min. Once the settings were adjusted, no more problems

Ive been holding out for a long time on Apple TV. However, my entire household is Apple devices so I thought Id go ahead and see if Apple TV live up to its hype.At this point, I am very happy with the purchase. The main reason for my purchase was the ease of using it to project content from my iPhonesiPads to the TV. No need to purchase a smart TV trying to find AirPlay. No need to purchase additional HDMI cables. That said, I am also enjoying the content Apple TV has to offer. Many of their original shows are actually very good but I do wish they offered more free contentIm sure it is coming as stuff like this can take time to iron out contracts, etc.Anyway, I would recommend the purchase due to the current state of the high quality content and technology inside the box. Great space saver as well unlike my satellite box.

So I purchased 2 of these for the purpose of watching HBO Max because it wasnt available on a Fire TV. One is on a Sony 4K TV and the other on a Samsung 1080P TV. Well I now use it for most of my streaming content, aside from Amazon programming.Thats not to say its been a smooth experience. I had what I thought was a compatible HDMI cable for this, but it was a no go. I had to go on Amazon Best Buy didnt have it and order a Belkin Ultra HD High Speed HDMI cable Apples recommended brand and cable for this to work correctly on my Sony 4K TV. I purchased a 2M 6FT cable that cost 39.99.BUT I still had issues with Apple TV on my 4K Sony. The one that is installed on my 1080P Samsung TV works without a hitch. The one on my Sony X900F still gives me issues today.During the setup process Apple TV lets me choose my TVs resolution. Even after CORRECTLY telling it what I have and with the PROPER HDMI cable, my screen will flash and I have to unplug the unit and let it restart. This happens almost daily, and I have read and read and read on forums to find a fix, but nothing has worked. I have swapped my Apple TV units around and its still the same result.Im not sure if its a handshake issue with a Sony TV, but that is my problem. If you have any other brand of TV, are you experiencing the same issue I dont care for the included remote, I still cant get the dang slide and press navigation control to work for me. I have to either use SIRIs voice command or the app on my 11 Pro Max.If not for that issue on my Sony TV, I would have given it 5 stars. I like the ability to play videos and show photos on my TV with little effort Apple does a great job integrating all their devices seamlessly. When it is working if the content you are watching is in 4K HDR or Dolby Vision, its an incredible experience. On my 1080P TV the picture is equally great.

Im sure that the latest Apple TV is a great product IF you have an iPhone. I have owned several 6 of these from a previous generation and was very happy. The latest with a touch pad on the remote and little or no support for using an Android phone during setup was just not worth whatever benefits the product may have over Roku, Amazon Fire, etc. After spending a frustrating two hours working through setting up the device, and several of the apps I already owned, I finally gave up, reset the device and returned it to the store.I am so much happier without this extra complication in my life.

I dont care for the programs, I just wanted to be able to use AirPlay from a Mac. I wish LG would have an AirPlay app it could have saved me a lot of money and aggravation.I had a hard time setting it up. The remote with these lame swipe commands is totally useless. The saving grace was when after a long websearch I discovered that I can connect a Bluetooth keyboard to the TV and forget about the native remote for the setup. Finally, I installed it and now it is working. However, the image on the screen is distorted and I could not figure out how to fix it I have a clock on the desktop that is a perfect circle, but on the TV screen it is an oval it looks kind of stupid.

Apple TV 4K is fast, reliable, and simple. The processor in this Apple TV 4K can handle all your streaming apps and games smooth and snappy. It holds recently used apps in memory so you can jump between apps and resume your content instantly. I love how it turns offon my TV and soundbar and controls volume all with the included slimlight remote. Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Prime, Twitch, Pluto and so many more streaming apps are optimized so well for Apple TV. Everything runs so smooth and is easy to operate. If you have other Apple devices iPad, iPhone, AirPods, etc.. they can control and pair with Apple TV too. AirPods can become your source of sound, iPhone and iPad can be the remote, and you can cast whatever youre watching on your Apple device to the Apple TV. You can even use the Apple TV as a secondary display for your Mac.If you arent an Apple device user, no worries. This thing is still everything I said it was fast, reliable, and simple.Amazing what this thing can do, and it only gets better with regular software updates from Apple.

Ive had Apple TV in the past, but the 4K version is absolutely worth its money and more. You get access to a lot of free content. Usually your Networkcable provider account can unlock a lot more programming too. The app layout and is great and you can customize everything similar to iOS devices. The remote is awesome, the touch pad is smoothly operated, and the buttons are plain and simple. Works great overall, and you add this onto a 4K tv and its a no brainer. Also, a side note for any OLED tv owners, the Apple TV 4K has STUNNING backgrounds of super high definition clips, plus drone and aerial footage of some gorgeous places around the world. Its really amazing, and theyre constantly updating so its never stale material which is just eye candy for a 4K tv. If you own Apple products this is perfect, and even if you dont use any other Apple products, youre still good to go.

I bought the latest version of this product to replace an earlier version and the improvement is enormous. The remote control is extremely responsive and easy to use, and it is very convenient to have all your TV subscriptions BBC IPlayer, ITV, All4, Prime, Netflix, etc available on the TV screen, alongside YouTube and the photos and videos stored on your phone. Switching between the apps is really straightforward and the device saves your place on different TV programmes. My teenage son also loves the fact that games hes downloaded can be played through the Apple TV.Im not particularly techsavvy but I absolutely love this product and setting it up was an absolute cinch.

I have an older Yamaha AV receiver that doesnt take the audio through the HMDI cable. This made me buy an HDMI audiovideo splitter. I wish that Apple would have had a optical audio port available that was supplied on their older Apple TV bundle. The only reason I upgraded to the newer Apple TV was that Crave would no longer support the older generation units. A rather expensive way of keeping abreast of software. When I started up my Apple TV, a friendly message came up that Ill receive a year of free Apple TV use. Then they will hit with a monthly charge. WOW. Not really happy with that deal. Maybe look at going to Roku. I dont like surprises like that.

I was using an older hand me down Apple TV unit for the last few years and was regularly interrupted with buffering or I would simply be cut off from streaming during a movie while the unit reset itself. Im VERY happy with the upgrade to this unit. I like the ease with which I can move around the menus with the trackpad. I do not have voice activation set up, but I like being able to search and enter passwords with my iPhone. My only complaint is how slippery the remote is Ive dropped it a couple times already. I will be getting a case for the remote to solve that issue soon. Best Buys delivery was on schedule, perhaps a day earlier than expected.

I really like the Apple TV 4K. The interface is clean and polished, and probably most importantly smooth and snappy. Image quality and variety of content is great. Setup was very easy, with one exception. Im using mine with a Vizio E65F1 4k HDR tv, which supports HDR and Dolby Vision. The set is connected to my Apple TV via a Blackweb HDMI cable. HDR10 works great all the time. Dolby Vision works great EXCEPT for Apple content. When viewing Dolby Vision iTunes movies I have purchased, for example It Chapter 2, and Apple TV content like See, there is a terrible pixelated halo effect in shadows. This is most apparent in the opening sequence of See which rapidly transitions from pure black to bright light. Around the lights are big blocks of colorlooks like something from a CD video circa 1995. I called both Apple and Vizio tech support and neither seemed to be aware though they both did some serious searching of any issue similar, and neither was able to solve the problem for me. By accident, I came across a partial fix. By switching UHD Full Color to ON or to OFF if its already on while watching Dolby Vision content, the TV and Apple TV reset their connection and Dolby Vision works great. Interestingly, I have seen no such issues with HDR10 in any circumstance or with Dolby Vision content from Disney Plusif the issue were present with Disney Plus, I would almost certainly have seen it in the opening of the Mandalorian, but I did not. Other than that one weird quirk, which I really hope will get cleared up with a firmware update at some point, I have really loved my new Apple TV 4K.

Amazing picture quality and sound Dolby Vision is the best. Supports other sound formats and has high quality screen savers that display on your UHD4K screen and look beautiful. Some people complain about the remote, but its actually really well organized and can be programmed to make it simplified. You can get used to the remote and find it helpful. Just dont misplace it. Overall the picture quality and access to Apple TV Plus, make it worthwhile for anyone to adopt this great streamer. If you are an Apple customer already iphone or Mac, this is THE ONE to get because it makes mirroring and streaming from Apple Music and Spotify easier as well.

When we installed this unit first, everything was wonderful, all worked fine, amazing user interface, access to all our streaming apps, all good, except… Video images were flat, colors were diluted, blacks where horrible…Then, we installed the latest update, and everything went to hell.Applications crash constantly. The unit NO LONGER synchronizes with our Sony Bravia, so when we put the Apple TV to sleep, the TV will no longer turn off automatically. When we turn it off with the Sony remote, the unit turns on again, UP TO 7 TIMES. Images look like crap. Video streaming freezes.Tried Apple support, and they blame the Sony Bravia. Nice.NEVER. AGAIN.

I wanted to be able to mirror my phone. That was my original reason for buying an Apple TV. At first I had to kind of learn how to use it. But I really like the way my phone was able to help me set up everything. I also like the Bluetooth capability for external sound. Also I recently found out I dont need a cable box from spectrum with Apple TV. I find new things Apple TV does every day. The size and simple setup is a bonus as well. The picture on my tv significantly improved

I purchased this Apple TV 64GB 4K device to replace an earlier generation Apple TV. I wanted to stream new services but there was no way to add new apps to the old Apple TV device. The new Apple TV has the App Store and other functions that the old Apple TV did not have. As with most Apple products, setup was so easy. I am now effortlessly streaming all of the new services. I realize that there are less costly streaming devices available. But, I love having most of my tech devices being associated with the wonderfully interconnected Apple universe.

Love the Appletv The user interface is best available in my opinion, and the range of appscontent is fantastic. Works great with a Tablo for live tv and Plex to stream our own content. Plenty of other content apps available as well. If you have multiple units, you can set them so that if you make changes or additions at one they will roll out to all the others. Also got one for aging parents the user interface is the easiest of all the stream boxes we looked at. The remote is great to use and well made but is very small and thin, and easily slides between cushions. We recommend getting a gel protection cover for the remote, which protects it and also makes it less slippery.

WE LOVE OUR APPLE TV…and EVERY OTHER ONE WEVE OWNED PRIOR. My husband and I always lose the Apple TV remote very sleek, so we LOVE having the option to download the Apple TV remote app so we can control the TV from our iPhones I find it much more convenient to use and I never lose it. Whats even better…the apps I LOVE the apps we have access to with the Apple TV We watch the Investigation Discovery ID Channel a lot so its great having the ID app which contains an endless supply of true crime shows and specials all seasons and episodes. The other feature we use a lot is screen mirroring which can be done using an iPad or iPhone. Mirroring takes the content youre watching or reading on your phone ex a YouTube clip, a webpage, your photos and projects it onto your TV screen so it can be shared with others on a larger screen. The Apple TV is dynamic, high quality, and a great way to get rid of cable TV too

It does all the things dolby vision, dolby atmos. Theres an app for just about every video service. But it does have some issues. My main complaint is audio sync. I can adjust the audio delay in my receiver, if the video is running behind, but sometimes I get the audio running later than the video, even with the audio delay set to zero, and theres nothing I can do. Its inconsistent too. Even with the same show on the same streaming service, Ill watch an episode and I get the audio delay adjusted so its in sync, but then I play the next episode and its out of sync again. I never had this much trouble with other streaming devices or the builtin smart tv apps.Even using the feature where you can automatically calibrate the audio sync using an iPhone doesnt help.It may be the fault of the apps themselves, but sometimes when I try to play a video, especially with Hulu, I just get a black screen. I have to force close the app and start it again to get it to play. The touchpad remote is nice in some ways, but its a little twitchy. When Im browsing shows or something, and I want to move the selection one to the right, it often overshoots and I have to go back. Its also hard to tell which way is up on the remote without looking because they made it so symmetrical. For as expensive as it, I would have expected it to be better, especially the audio sync issue.

3 stars average on this review scale. I can not give it a 5 because Airplay sucks, I have a macbook pro, imac, iphone and ipad and the airplay lags and skips and can be out of sync almost all the time. I should drop all the stars for how frustrating this is. Airplay was the main reason I bought one and it does not work. The remote itself is annoying to use as a everyday remote to watch tv. The design is flawed and its so tiny in the hands, it feels weird. The Apple TV itself can only be paired with 1 remote, I have a preference for my situation to have 2 remotes in one room so this dings the review too.Other than that it has a good user interface.

My old original Apple TV would not allow me to download any apps. So I headed down to bestbuy to get a newer version. Well there was only one left and this lady had grabbed it. But… she wasnt sure if she wanted to purchase it since there was some online for a few bucks more. I watched from afar as she and her band of merry friends searched endlessly for a cheaper one. To no avail, they attempted to show the Bestbuy sales person the price in the hopes of price matching . I decided to move in closer to see the outcome… then finally the sales person told them sorry I cant price match even then the ladies huddled up and with them Apple TV box in hand… they weighed their options… then finally after a good 30 minutes, she put it down on at the check out. I then swooped in for my attack and said hey sir is that for sale And of course it was… sold The group of ladies didnt even know what happened. Its now at my home displaying movies along with other great entertainment.

Siri remote broke after 4 months. Very confusing with newer Samsung tv and without network apple devices its not worth it. Surprisingly convoluted interface and still cant figure out why hdr is an option for qled, or Dolby vision supported TVs. I tv and frame rate are upscaled by tv why offer hdr at all. Maybe it upacales older 4K idk. Anyway, much preferred Roku interface but what choice do I have when surrounded by apple tech. Do not buy more gb unless you like throwing away money. There is port for external drive

Ive had an Apple phone for a long time and only recently I decided to go Apple all the way. MacBook Air, IPad Mini and now Apple TV.This product is amazing as Ive tried other similar products and have had issues like delayed sound. You know, like when the voice goes faster than the screen Hate that. So with Apple TV, its like watching live TV without any disruption. However, I do admit Apple can do a better job on guiding you to all the tricks of how to use the remote. I had to utube these. Not cool.

Again, Apple has created a product that simply outperforms all of its competitors. I didnt realize what I was missing until I bought an Apple TV 4K, mainly because I was viewing Netflix, Prime, YouTube, etc. through the Samsung TV apps just fine. But then I bought a Dolby Atmos soundbar, after which I quickly discovered that true Dolby Atmos sound wasnt possible unless using a device that was configured forcompatible w Dolby Atmos. Enter the Apple TV 4K, and not only did I get Dolby Atmos sound to come through when viewing Netflix, Prime, etc., I also got a much cleaner, simplified user interface to navigate all of the third party streaming apps along with Apples own network of content. Just like all other Apple products, everything is well thought out, very intuitive, and simple. Picture and sound are excellent. No more wondering if Im getting actual Dolby sound or 4K picture, which otherwise often get dumbeddown due to the hardware limitations of the TV or incompatibility of third party apps. Got the smaller storage size since I primarily stream content. No compatibility issues, hiccups, or quirksit just works. Well worth the price. Very happy with it.

Apple never disappoints and this Apple TV 4K is another amazing device that exceeded my expectation. I recently became a cord cutter and purchased another streaming device and it did not provide the quality for all the apps I needed. I had a Apple TV previous generation in another room on a non 4K I smart tv and it provided a excellent streaming experience for all my apps and streaming tv services. I took back the sub par competitors device and purchased this Apple TV for my 4K smart TV. The quality and smooth operation makes it worth the money. Also if you have other Apple products like I do it mirrors and functions seamlessly making it a no brainer. All streaming service apps do not work the same across all device. Quality is huge for me and this device provides that and a great experience across all streaming apps I have. Highly recommend

We have Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney. This device allows us to seamlessly access all of these streaming sites from the same hub. So seemlessly in fact that sometimes it is hard to tell which one we are currently using That is the only reason why I gave it 4 stars. I have had moments where I got frustrated because I look for a series that is actually on a different streaming platform, but I had no idea that I wasnt on the desired platform at that moment. The touch screen is, sensitive, this causes my dog and my family members to sometimes click unintended buttons on the screen, but as long as you know it, it is easily avoided. We love the voice command feature, it works well 99.9 of the time.We really love that we can control the volume of the TV with this remote too, which means that the person in charge, doesnt have to handle two different remotes.Best buys curbside pick up was easy, painless and quick. This is our second apple tv purchase we just wanted the updated features. The older one still works great

We decided to purchase an Apple TV 4K to upgrade from an original Apple TV series 2 from several years ago due to unavailability of certain apps streaming services.Impressed with the new Apple TV 4K so far, the remote is very responsive and there is no delay when selecting apps. We enjoy the use of Siri which even lets you ask questions on the weather and stocks, just like on my iPhone. You can also download games to play on the TV which is another benefit over the old Apple TV.I cant think of any downsides to the new Apple TV 4K except the price tag, a little steep, but its a great upgrade from the previous generation Apple TV.

Apple TV 4Ks have an annoying issue with the software. It frequently requires that you restart the unit otherwise certain selections do not operate. This is something that should be addressed through a software upgrade. There is also an annoying glitch when it first boots up. Periodically, the boot up screen in just static like it is malfunctioning. It eventually corrects itself but I do worry that this is just a sign of a electronic component starting to fail.

Very good streaming device. The build quality and picture quality is excellent. I like being able to access all other streaming apps like Netflix, now TV, Amazon Prime and the usual Itv hub etc all in one place. The reason for dropping to 4 stars is that the remote takes a while to get used to and the touchpad is too sensitive. For people that want an alternative remote there are a couple of alternatives with buttons made in collaboration with Apple from the Swedish company Salt. The other is called Function 101. Apart from the remote I highly recommend the item.

I bought this Apple TV to replace a Gen 2 device that had worked solidly for many years. The only reason for replacing it was the fact that many of the channels we watched on it were not supporting the older Apple TVs, which is really too bad, ours has been a flawless performer, and easy to use.The new Apple TV 4K is almost as easy to use, but I took a star off for price, its almost double the price of the older versions and functionality is not all that different. For the extra money, I would have expected chrome side pipes and custom paint. Getting all of our apps downloaded and set up on this device took much longer than expected. I find it bothersome that I have to go to a web page, get a some special code, and then match that to my device. Some apps were hard to find in the app store. Also, many of the new apps available require a paid subscription. Had I known that, I would not have downloaded them. Getting them off of the unit has eluded me for now, but I attribute that to lack of pilot training. Overall, it has been worth the hassles, and is something we can grow into when we decided to go 4K.

Although The Apple TV easily outperforms its cheaper competitors, trying to operate it can drive you nuts.First, here are the good points. Streaming is fast and flawless. The picture is gorgeous, and the glitches that pervade other streaming devices are conspicuously absent. There is no input lag with the remote no audio dropout regardless of your wireless network and, as long as your network is reasonably fast, there are no buffering issues. The Apple TV works the way that all streaming devices should work. However, its the little things that get under your skin. Lets overlook the fact that it costs about twice as much as its priciest competitor. If you buy Apple products, you expect to overpay. However, why Apple doesnt even offer a web browser app as an option is beyond me. If you want to stream content from a provider that doesnt have a dedicated Apple app, you are just out of luck. The absence of a web browser isnt necessarily a dealkiller, but including one would have been so simple and inexpensive. It just seems that there is no justification for creating this conflict. The absolute worst thing about this generation of Apple TVs is the remote. It is far and away the worst one that I have ever used, and it is difficult to imagine that human beings tested it and concluded that it worked well and was what people would like.Like most Apple remotes, this one is too small, making it slippery and difficult to even hold. However, its worst design element is the touchpad that replaces the traditional arrows with an Enter button in the middle. Trying to get the cursor to lock in on the icon or alphanumeric character that you want is an exercise in futility. The cursor seems to stubbornly adhere to an adjacent icon, and when you finally get it to move, it jumps over the icon you wanted and sticks to another adjacent icon. When you finally get it on the icon you wanted, pressing the touchpad to accept your selection will often cause the cursor to move off the icon it was on, thereby accepting a nearby one that you did not want, forcing you to delete that entry and try again. Trying to type in a search or enter a password takes 2 3 times as long on the Apple TV as it does on my Amazon Fire TV, and by the time Ive completed this arduous task, I often find that Ive lost all desire to watch anything on this infuriating device.Apple seems to have realized after the fact that buyers were displeased with this remote, as evidenced by the fact that it has been modified on the latest versions of this device. I also notice that they have not offered to replace this garbage remote with a more userfriendly version for those of us who purchased this generation device. The good news is that there is no reason to put yourself through this frustration. The new version of Apple TV is now available, and it only costs 20 more. Buying this older model is false economy and will make you rue your decision. Just pay the extra 20 for the new version. Youll be so glad that you did.

From the moment you begin to unwrap and unbox your new Apple TV your reminded of the high quality and thought that goes in to every Apple product and this is no different. Just outstanding high quality product.I was using the best ROKU device available and that pales in comparison. Its not even close. I have several ROKU devices that I purchased. The last one I purchased about 3 months ago for me LG OLED tv. It was very cheesy. Lightweight. Got super hot. The pictures was sometimes ok sometimes not. But at the ROKU price point it was easy to buy those devices. The final straw for me was when they started billing me for a trial I had clearly need and would not stop charging me for. For four months after calling my bank and having charges reversed they kept billing. Good luck getting customer service its virtually non existent. So here I am with the best tv on the market. Should I invest in the Apple device Yes ROKU didnt have HBO Max available. Some other channels too. But Apple has everything. And the picture is amazing Maximizes the potential of my OLED tv 100. The remote control is a cool functional design. It integrated with my sound bar and tv flawlessly. Easily. And if your an owner of an IPhone like me its even easier. Basically just hold your phone next to the device and it takes care of the rest. It does not run hot. Its cool to the touch. It has a small footprint but weighs a solid pound or so which helps keep it in place on top of my 4K Bluray player. HBO MaX does not have 4K available. So HBO did not look good on ROKU. But this device upscales the picture and HBO looks great now. Now as good as my 4K Netflix picture or my streaming channels like ABC or NBC but it looks great still.I cannot day enough about this streaming device. I had Direct Tv since 1996 and couldnt take their outrageous prices anymore and their customer service got terrible. I signed a 2 year Dish TV contract with their Hopper 3 product for a reasonable price but it is severely lacking. If I could rewind the clock about 3 months I would not but the ROKU Premiere device. I would not sign that Dish contract. I would simple get rid of direct tv go straight to Best Buy and get this Apple TV device and stream everything from now on on this one device. I just cant say enough about it. And Im an early adopter and 59 years old. I was the first to get everything in the last 30 years as its come along. This is right near the top of one of the best purchases I have made through those years.Dont hesitate. Get this thing. And dump everything else you have. You will figure out what packages to put together to get all you want. The local channels and sports are still the biggest hurdles for streaming. But with a 5060 dollar package to HULU or YouTube or others you will get what you need. Just add Netflix and HBO Max and for under a hundred bucks you have an amazing tv package and this wonderfully designed and works flawlessly Apple TV..Cant recommend it highly enough.I wish someone had written this review and I read it. I hope you do. Your welcome…..

Its Apple, so one must expect the high price tag. But the quality I have come to expect from their products is there. The interface is simple and easy to use, yet feels very refined. Similar devices from other manufacturers are certainly less expensive, but their UIs are usually clunky andor irritating.Overall, this is very much like the current 1080p device, but in 4K. The one big upgrade I love is the raised lip around the menu button on the remote. This makes it A LOT easier to tell youre holding it correctly. On the old one, the tactile symmetry meant one would often hold the remote backwards without realizing it.

Like all Apple products, it was packaged very well. The setup was easy after I watched a Youtube video. One of the great features during setup was information transfer from my iPhone to the streaming device. All I did was unlock my phone and lay it beside the device. The remote was tricky to use even after I watched the youtube video. I had trouble with pushing on the remote enter button which is not marked on the remote. This is my reason for the 4 stars rating. I would recommend buying a skin for the remote they cost about 5.00. You also will need an HDMI cable to complete the setup.

This is the second Apple TV we have owned, we upgraded to the 4K version after using the 4 generation for 3 years. Setup was very quick and easy and was ready to use in less then 5 minutes. The load times are much faster then on our smart tv Roku and the picture quality is fantastic. Now the bad news, sort of. Apple made some changes so that everything is set up for 4K, it causes the colors to look washed out on most everything except 4K shows and movies. Apple says this is to eliminate delays when changing from one show to the next, but its easy to fix. 5 minutes on Google told me what I needed to do, just 2 changes in the settings and everything is great again, as for the delay, it may be a second or 2 so not really noticeable. Well worth the money, especially if you already own other Apple products, I will defiantly buy another when we are ready to upgrade or add a new device. As a final bonus, we have a Logitech hub, so we can control everything with one remote and with voice commands using Alexa, Google etc

Pros Ive had 4 out of the 5 Apple TV boxes and seeing how its capabilities have progressed and keep a similar price point is fantastic. The improvements over the 4th gen thats still available is noticeable, with its 4k picture, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos even running on an 8 year old Panasonic projector you can see a more vibrant image. I was happy with the 4th gen and now even happier with this Its worth paying that little extra for the 4k version especially if you can benefit from Dolby Vision and Atmos.Cons An audio output would be useful to me, the combined toslink analogue last seen on gen 3.

I had my Version 3 2012 era AppleTV connected to a Samsung 75 inch smart TV since early 2014. It was always my goto device for Netflix and Prime as well as the Apple content because the app was so much more responsive and userfriendly than the Samsung Smart TV apps. I also loved having my pictures as the screen saver but was always frustrated that loading them took so long and it seemed like despite having several thousand pictures in the cloud it only played about 100 or so of them. I also didnt like that the version 3 didnt have the ability to get new apps. I had subscriptions to the DAZN boxing app, Disney, etc that I had to either Airplay to the TV from my iphone or Mac or use the clunky Samsung apps which, incidentally, could never seem to synch the sound to the screen perfectly. Then the screen saver started resetting to the default apple pictures every time the hockey puck went to sleep and I got really frustrated. I wanted to change to a different streaming device I was so upset but after searching and reviewing all of the options AppleTV still seemed to be the best for me. So I bought the 4K version and decided to go with the 64GB in hopes that it might help with the screen saver.WOW It SOOOO Exceeded my expectations First, let me talk about the setup. I was dreading the need to go through the wizard, dig up my wifi passwords, icloud passwords, other accounts, etc. Let me tell you Apple has, again, set the bar so much higher than anyone else. You plug the new hockey puck in and turn it on. It tells you to bring your iphone close to the device and BAM youre doneThen I was STUNNED by the picture quality I could NOT believe the difference. I THOUGHT my 4k TV was getting 4K content from Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Apple but it wasnt either through the smart TV apps or the Version 3 device. The video quality is AMAZING. Then I went to the app store and found apps for ALL of the subscriptions I have. My wife called me to lunch and when I came back my screensaver was on with pictures Id never seen on the TV before I dont know whether its because of the 64GB or just the upgraded device and I dont care wowAnd talk about a responsive app The new remote took a LITTLE time to get use to and its very sensitive but in now time at all I was flying around the screen whether its surfing youtube videos or just flipping between Netflix and the CW. OH, did I mention how easy it is to use the voice commands on the remote Hold down the button and say Lois and Clark and BOOM, youre watching superman. Dont wait another second, Im sorry for every second I wasted … go buy one of these puppies TODAY

After struggling with TiVos very unstable mini crashed almost every time you turned on the TV, I finally opted to replace it with this unit. Once set up, it has performed perfectly. I then bought a second unit and scrapped our TiVo Bolt. Besides dropping TiVos annual 149 service fee, we ended up saving 50month on our cable bill by going to 100 streaming. With all the apps out there, there are very few programsmovies you cant watch at a later date which besides zooming through commercials is the only reason to use a DVR.Once you get used to the menus and using Siri to call up your program, it is an excellent system Much faster to maneuver through apps and access what you want to watch than the TiVo system.

I have been wanting an Apple TV 4K for a while. So far it has lived to its reputation. It is very easy to use and setup. If you are already an apple user then this is a great addition to their ecosystem. The Siri integration is great and I like the integration with the iPhone and iPad. I found it a lot faster than the Roku Ultra which I also have. The remote control although nice and clean could have use a little bit of work such as it would have been nice to add an audio jack similar to Roku remote control, or a finder in case the remote control is misplaced. But overall pretty please. Was waiting for Apple to come out with a new Apple TV before their Apple TV launch but that didnt happen. Would have been nice for a spec upgrade so that would be future proof more than it is now. I can see myself also using this for gaming which I already did and to pair it with Arcade from Apple would be a great addition. The only downside as I said it is that it is still running and older chip so an upgrade would have been great. Or if Apple was not planning to upgrade they should lower the price. I got a good deal on it otherwise would have waited to see if Apple releases a new one with more bells and whistles.

Prior to my purchase it was difficult to understand just why the Apple TV 4K box was so much more expensive than any other option with same kind of features. I already owned a Fire TV 4K stick which on paper can do everything that one of these can. But I recently upgraded my home cinema setup to include a Dolby Atmos sound system and wanted to be able to take advantage of the Atmos enabled programming on Netflix and Amazon Prime and thats where things get tricky as only a few devices actually provide the Atmos signal from these services. Even TVs and streaming devices such as the Amazon Fire Stick that are Dolby Atmos capable do not provide the Atmos signal on Netflix and Prime. Apparently in Netflixs case at least this is due to them getting paid by certain manufacturers to use Atmos for their devices. Out of my setup the only device I have that allowed Dolby Atmos from the Netflix app is my Xbox One X and thats not a device I want to use on a daily basis for watching TV on. So I purchased the Apple TV 4K 32GB box the internal storage is purely for apps so not much point buying the 64GB version as its unlikely most people will ever install that many apps to need it and replaced the Fire TV 4K stick in my setup with it. Now you might find when first loading up Netflix that it still appears that Dolby Atmos isnt working for some reason you need to start playing a Dolby Atmos enable program and then the Dolby Atmos content will start being identified by the Dolby Atmos logo on the program details. The sound and video quality of anything you stream is superb. I find that Netflix and Prime streams look better through this than the same apps on other devices. So for the purpose I bought it for I am more than happy but an unexpected surprise is everything else. Its such a nice interface that brings together all your streaming platforms and apps into one interface and actually then pulls programmes to continue and suggestions on what to watch next along with content you have purchased through iTunes onto a front page. Its like a TV guide for every possible content you use and makes it so easy to continue watching the things you love across various different platforms. Another surprise was the great value of the movies in the iTunes Store. Most films are much cheaper than through other platforms and a lot of the content now includes Dolby Atmos sound and 4K HDR video and if you purchase something that doesnt currently have these features you automatically get upgraded to the best version if they add those features at a later date. With the latest movies between 9.99 to 13.99 in 4K HDR Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos sound its a great alternative to 25 4K HDR Bluray Discs. Obviously the quality on a 4K Bluray Disc will always be superior to a stream for many films the difference wouldnt be noticeable unless played side by side and its a cheaper way to get 4K HDR with Dolby Atmos for the films you want a decent version of but dont need to own an expensive disc for. The remote you get is a stunner. Tiny, slim and typically Apple. Includes a built in Mic and you can use Siri to search across your platforms to find content. When you do search for content maybe surprisingly the Apple TV will always priorities the Free or Cheaper options first even if that costs Apple a sale through iTunes. Its great as you know you can trust the search results and wont then find it cheaper elsewhere. I cant really comment on the gaming features as I havent tried them yet but there are also games in the App Store that you can buy and play. Many just using the included remote and some that you need to buy a compatible gamepad for the good news there is they are adding in support for Xbox and PS4 pads soon so if you already own one of these you dont have to spend money on a new pad. In summary I absolutely love this box, the image and sound quality are the best I have found on any streaming device, the interface is like most Apple interfaces, just perfect, simple, functional and attractive and the build and design of the device and remote itself is again typically Apple, modern, simple and stylish. Its not cheap by any means but its worth the money.

I had been using an earlier generation of Apple TV for last five and half years. I finally decided to do this upgrade. I am very glad that I didI watched a couple of YouTube videos on the hook up procedures. Its pretty simple and using your phone for passwords needed made for a streamlined stress free task. Once all has been completed w settings, etc.. the fun and beauty comes alive on your 4K television. Now the remote can be a problem. It is very touchy, kind of slippery in your hand and small learning curve needed to be efficient using it. I bought a case on Amazon and that made using the remote much easier. All in all, very happy with my purchase. Fun to use, looks nice. Kind of refreshed my opinion of my Sony 4K television and all of the streaming services I use.

The best part about this is the remote. Its super intuitive and Siri works like a charm. The IOS interface allows you to switch between apps like you would on your other IOS devices iPhone, iPad by double tapping the home screen on the remote and even swipe up to close the app like you would on your IOS devices. My favorite part is that I could be in the middle of watching several shows more like 8 or 9, all at different seasons, episodes or even midway through an episode, and all I need to do is tell Siri resume Married With Children and it will resume the last episode I was watching regardless of how many other shows Ive watched since then, which is amazing No more need to remember the name of the last episode or even which app its on HULU, Netflix, Amazon Prime. Goodbye scrolling through channels to see whats on tv. Lastly, the remote magically controls the tv volume and even turns it off and on from the Apple remote. Even better, I tested this out and moved the Apple TV to the bedroom from the living room. All I did was plug in the HDMI cord and viola. The remote worked with the tv without having to reprogram anything Innovation at its finest

Upgraded from Apple TV 3. There is no comparison. Set up was easy. The remote is sensitive. You barely touch the pad area by accident and it will respond. I am able to type in whatever I am looking from my iPhone and also use it as a remote. I can also watch a movie or whatever via Bluetooth with my AirPods so I dont disturb anyone in the house. Oh, with the Apple TV I can use the remote to control everything. Turn on Apple TV. My tv and external tv speakers turn on. Also you can turn the sound up or down. I was even able to connect to some small speakers via Bluetooth.

Ill start this off with the positives First and foremost The interface is clean, usable and the audiovideo quality is pristine and polished to a point of perfection. The box hardware is about as simple as you can imagine. Its a box, theres an HDMI, ethernet and power socket. Thats it, its minimalistic and clean to look at on my AV cabinet. I love that. Plus, if using an iPadiPhone, this has possibly the easiest setup of any product Ive ever used. I unfortunately have no experience if youre unable to do this. For us in the apple product ecosystem though, it was even more simple to set up that I had expected. Even passwords could just use my face id to tag into the password manager on my phone, and sync with the appleTV for log in. No typing needed. That being said, there are a few glaring issues that cause me to only give this 4 stars One issue thats currently present in the firmware for the current tvOS 12 is that theres a faint gradient banding that occurs in dark areas its almost like a flickering vignette when youre watching a movie from appleTV app in HDR mode this only affects HDR appleTV content and doesnt show in other streaming apps such as Netflix. I found a work around online wherein you could remove this dark flickering completely by viewing directly from the purchased section of the movies store app. search dark flickering appletv for more. Apparently, one user whos installed a beta version of tvOS 13 has said the bug is fixed, but it was quite jarring to experience when purchasing an otherwise premium product that is known for being the premiere HDR streaming box and HDR content provider. Youd think that HDR quality would be unrivaled, not broken with an odd work around. The last issue is that the ergonomics of the included hardware remote are appalling. Yes, its usable, but holding onto a nondescript, slippery, tiny thin flat slab is less than appealing. I either feel like my hand is about to cramp, or the remote is about to slide out when using it. Not to mention how easy it would be to lose inside of a couch. Fortunately, this has HDMI CEC built in, so my TV remote and universal remote are able to operate with it, but for a lot of users, I dont expect this will be a case.

I bought this because my Samsung Q70 TV does not offer an option to disable HDR, this device does, so that issue was fixed. I am not very satisfied with my purchase though, lets begin with the remote. I do not know what kind of evil person would design something so unintuitive and delicate as this. The bottom half is glass, so if you drop it, you can kiss it good bye, the top half is a touch pad because, well, you know… everyone needs touch pads in their remotes Good luck trying to scroll through your netflix menu without accidentally rushing through 17 shows due to the fact that the touch pad is quite sensible. Not only that, the freaking buttons are right on the middle of the remote, so half of the time you will grab it upside down Seriously Moving on to the apple tv itself, it is an all right device, offers plenty of options with one major flaw, if you use hulu get ready for some frustration. Apple and Hulu are not friends, you can tell by how ridiculously buggy the Hulu app is, you will have to restart your apple tv device every now and then because Hulu wont open and will crash your device. Considering how expensive this premium streamer is, I am extremely dissapointed.

If you have an Apple iPhone, Apple have made it extremely easy to set up. Very impressed and it takes a lot to impress me.The OS seems much faster, easy to use and the availability of more apps, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney is a bonus fewer boxes and dongles required for the TV. The remote is taking a while to get use to and does not feel as intuitive as the old remote. However it works well enough. A real advantage is the ability to dictate passwords and film requests via Siri on the remote so much easier than scrolling around the screen. More of an advantage is when searching your iPhone automatically loads a screen allowing you to type in passwords inspiredOne of the reason for purchasing the device was to access Apple TV and Apple Arcade. We did not have a Game box before, but in the lockdown decided to learn a new skill. We were not looking for shootthemup games, which is just as well as the titles appear to be more of an Arcade selection. With the addition of a gaminghandset, so far Arcade has kept our minds active and given us an activity in the evening.

We only bought this streaming device because it allows us to watch HBO Max. It works great for that.Im pretty unfamiliar with the Apple world, so the Apple TV was a bit frustrating when I started to use it. The remote wasnt intuitive for me, and I wanted to throw it out the window. I guess its a little bit easier for that Apple initiated. My Applephile stepdaughter got me straightened out, and it seems to work well for its purpose.Be aware that theres no browser available unless you sideload one from a Mac device or stream from an APPLE device. This doesnt run a normal iOS, its a special TV OS, that has limits. One awesome point is that it uses Dolby Vision, not just HDR10.My ratings are what they are because Im virtually unfamiliar with Apple devices and Apple OS.

Apple TV lets you stream audio around the house using radios or powered speakers using connected Airport Expresses. The latest tvOS update 14.0.2 brought easier onscreen selection. Set this puppy up just by holding phone near it. Its compatible with Harmonys universal remotes but using the Apple improves slippingit into an Elgato case so it wont get lost in the cushions. Play classical music all day or install a radio tuner app to openmore stations. Downside requires a restart every so often but onscreen controls allow restarts without tugging the power cable out. The 4K model is useful as more 4K programs becomeavailable and if you have, or think yournext television set will be capable of UHD, etc.

Good purchase. I had older Apple TV Version that had served us well, but it did not have the ability to add additional streaming accounts or channels that have become popular. I had thought about purchasing one of the streaming sticks that handled some of those items. However, after checking, I found the Apple TV would also give me access to the exclusive Apple TV programs, movies and special features. Yes, there is a small fee, but worth it because of the premium selections. However, the best part current Apple promotion included one year of service free with this purchase. I call that a winwin. I did not order the larger 64 GB version because I do not download a lot of movies thus this 32 GB version was all that was needed. BTW this newer version also appears to screen mirror and air play bettereasier than older generation. Good purchase

Love I have a 4K, 70 Inch Smart TV and I really like the interface. Its an Android TV. Even though I like the interface of the Android TV, it is very slow. The remote is not very responsive and I have to be patient.Ive had an Apple TV for a few years now and love it but the reason I bought the 4K was because not all Android Apps on the TV support 4K like VUDU and if I used my older Apple TV, I would be losing quality and not be able to see anything in 4K or UHD. Is this 100 necessary, no. lol. Its a luxury like most Apple addons.Apple TV is super smooth and easy to use. There is no delay, you dont need to point the remote directly at the Apple TV which allows you to hide the Apple TV box and if you have a 4K TV, this makes much more sense than the non4K Apple TV, especially for the small price difference between the 2. If you have Apple videos, movies, shows on your phone or iPad, they can all sync with the Apple TV to play on your television. We also have a family games downloaded on the Apple TV for when the family comes over like Hangman where they use their Android and iPhones to play along.I have a Roku for my bedroom TV and I have used the Firestick quite a bit in the past. The Apple TV is much more responsive vs the other 2.it is definitely more expensive than the other 2 as well and if you didnt want to cough up the Apple TV money, then I would highly recommend the Roku or FirestickFireTV. Amazon Prime users would probably appreciate the FirestickFireTV a bit more.

I purchased Apple TV after going through plethora of articles, blogs, reviews.I must say so far I am enjoying the product. The remote is tiny and easily lost under couch cushions but we could easily control using iPhone which is great. I love the performance of the touch pad on the remote. Its very User friendly. The best part of this remote is you do not need to add to electronic waste in the form of pencil batteries. This charges with a same charger as iPhones. The picture quality delivered to television is superb. The colors are bright and i have noticed that at night when all lights are turned off in the room, the television brightness is automatically controlled to suit the eyes. The only reason i was hesitant to give five stars is because this product do not offer any kind of browser to play content directly from browser.
