I am in love with this camera it works so amazingly The pixels theres no lens blur when youre taking portraits. I also bought a 50 mm lens and that is my absolute favourite. I do like the lens that came with the camera as well it works awesome But I got to say in 50 mm Im love lol. The customer service was amazing the equipment is amazing I am very happy with my purchase

This camera is still good in 2021. I got this camera about a year ago. I dont think I need to upgrade camera for a while. The image and video qualty are good, especially in low light combine with fast aperture lens, like f1.8 or faster. The dynamic range of this censor is good. Its able to recover high light and shadow without degrading image badly. I wish this camera had flippy screen.

I resisted Sony cameras all the way up until this model, for the same reasons as most others the greenish tint to the colour science the pitiful battery life the overheating problem, and the dogged refusal to have a flip out screen. This little bad boy has corrected 3 out of 4 of my issues in a big way, and then some Colour Science HUGE Improvement over past models, and closer to the holy grail of Canons. I am a filmmaker that both works with teams and solo. My A camera is the Canon C200. There are settings available, the EOSHD Pro Color v4 that, once applied pretty much match it completely. Battery life the new batteries are ridiculously good. One battery shoots continuously for over two and a half hours. I have 3, and have never yet started on the third on a days shoot. Overheating not as yet, touch wood. Flip out screen it still doesnt have one. The menu has had a lot said about it being complicated. I have not found it so, and there are so many customisable functions everyone can tailor make it to suit themself. Add to all of that the camera is full frame, and the autofocus runs Canons Dual Pixel Autofocus a very close second. Absolutely loving this camera. There is nothing in its price bracket anywhere near.

All around, this is a great camera and best bang for your buck if you are making the jump to your first full frame camera. I switched over from Canon, and have not regretted it at all. The Eye AF is fantastic, images render very sharp, and is a good all purpose camera for photovideo. There are some downsides such as an 8bit color system, and the live view feature goes away when my gimbal comes behind the viewfinder, but if those are my only gripes the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Youll know when you need to upgrade, but if this is your starting point youll be good for a while. Last bit of advice, buy the body only. Get a better lens than the kit lens which can hold its own, but there are better options out there for around the same price, and youll outgrow that kit lens in a day if youre not a beginner.

Even in 2020 the right choice for money.Unfortunately the Mobile Phone App is crap.Neither for attaching GPS coordinates or remote control really reliable. Have purchased the IR remote. I considered to give one less, but camera is so good. I am ok with the menu however its not a strength of the device.

Ive been looking for a good deal on the popular Sony A7iii. As all sellers are bound by minimum advertised pricing there wasnt much difference to be found. However, bundles and points can still be offered This bundle offered actually useful accessories, not the oftentimes useless stuff that other sellers throw in. Good quality protective case, external charger, quality rechargeable batteries, and solid medium speed SD card are all highlights of the included accessories. Plus 20 back in points Everything came perfectly and quickly, extremely happy with this purchase

I bought this sony a7iii used, and couldnt be more happy with it. Keep in mind, it is a hybrid shooters camera and I got it because I wanted to get more into photography, as a video shooter and let me say, it lives up to its glory as a hybrid camera. Autofocus is fast and image quality is amazing. Great for video as well. If you are only a video shooter tho, the a7siii would be a better buy and if you are strictly photo, the a7r series would be worth checking out. Overall though, the a7iii is a good all around option. My only gripe of the a7iii is the screen not being fully articulate like how it is on the a7siii haha

Purchased this Camera earlier this year. after doing quite a bit of research, I landed on the Sony A7iii. it is a somewhat difficult camera to set up, but once you do, the options that it has make it so easy to set your settings to exactly what you want in no time. one thing to note if you are going to get into the Sony ecosystem… the native Sony glass is not cheap it is amazing though. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone that wants to get into photography. If youre thinking about getting this camera, stop second guessing yourself and go get it. you will not regret it

I purchased the camera at the beginning of May, since then it has been to Singapore and Mountain NW. This camera is awesome. I didnt need a 42MP camera and the memory requirements that come with a7riii. Sony filled a gap in their lineup that fits perfectly in the 20 megapixel market. I went from barely 7evs to over 14. The ability to pull faces out of the shadows is amazing. I kept my Canon L lenses, instead I purchased the MetaBones V. Some of the older MetaBones were problematic with focus but my 70200 f4L IS actually focuses sharper with the Sony body. Over 30 of my photos with the 7D and 70200 wound up being focus soft. I was even able to handhold closeup photos with my MB V and Canon 100mm ES Macro lens with pinpoint focus. I purchased 2 native Sony lenses an FE85mm f1.8 and an FE G 24105 OSS, they are both excellent glass. The metabones V will allow you to reuse your top notch Canon Glass with this FF Mirrorless body and get better results than any Canon body. Sorry Canon but your sensor technology is way behind the 8ball.

I love the Sony A7III sensor. Its great, even in very low light. I find the dynamic range to be impressive. I love that in auto ISO it strives to keep the ISO as low as possible. If youre willing to buy Sony native autofocus lenses, its pretty much a nobrainer. Clearly, thats what Sony imagined everyone would do, because they cut a lot of corners on all other aspects of the design. My opinions are informed by years of shooting with Canons full frame cameras, like the 5D mk3 and the 1DX Mk2. I feel like cameras are generally designed for one of two paths the novicebeginner, who doesnt understand the technical aspects of photography or the professional, who requires complete control over every aspect. With the A7III, Sony is weirdly in the middle. A good example is the inability to change the manual focus units from meters to feet. A small thing, but thats just one of many. The cameras user interface is constructed as a tool set that requires a lot of customization, often placing the function you need one layer too deep to assign to a function button. As I mentioned previously, that would be fine if it was using precise units, but in some cases it deviates to things like standard or high. This is not the language of a precise tool.Beyond that there are just a lot of odd design decisions. The way the SD card goes in and the orientation of the battery are both unintuitive and make it slow to change them out in midst of getting the shot. Maybe thats just my Canon experience talking.Back to the lenses Ive tried adapting my Canon lenses using the Metabones V adapter to no avail. It works in AFS, but AFC is too much to ask.Even the way Sonys manual focus works is poorly thought out. It requires you to zoom in two different times before returning to full frame if youre using a cold adapter with manual focus lenses. Fujifilm does a much better job of this.In summary if youre going to buy all Sony G Master glass, youll probably be pretty happy with it, but if you want to adapt your existing lenses, youre going to be disappointed.

Still getting used to working with a mirrorless camera and a Sony after decades using Canon SLR and DSLR cameras. The photos are terrific, the kit lens is okay. Figuring out where things are is a learning process, and I wish the screen had the same touch functionality as the Canons Ive used the past few years, but thats not a major issue. The ergonomics are solid now that Ive figured out where the things I need the most are. I also purchased a 50mm f 1.8 prime which I like a lot.

As a amateur photographer that tries to get more into the professional photography, this is an excellent product. Really compact body, wide selection of mirrorless prepared lenses, and exceptional results out of the camera in JPEG. The backpack is a great addition to carry the extra lenses and equipment, and the included kit lenses and filters gets you started right away. Very happy

I recently got serious about photography and I have wanted this camera for YEARS. I would always tell myself that I would eventually get it. IT FINALLY HAPPENED I am so in love with this camera and I just knew it would be perfect for me before I even bought it. I am currently learning the functions and settings on this camera and its been great The video is also amazing. The lens is comes with is also pretty awesome

I bought this Kit a few weeks back, as every review out there spoke about how good it is. Well, reality vs potentially sponsored reviews are not always in sync.Heres what was actually good about the camera…AF was very fast with native lenses.Sensor has very low noise.Video has a ton of good features and works fairly well.Heres whats not so good about the camera. The Meter is not in sync with the capabilities of the sensor and things that should be better handled by the meter often leave you with lost data in the Highlights I know how to use a cameras meter, this one is just very liberal with its settings.Skin tones are among the worst Ive ever had in a camera and two other people who bought this camera reached out to me to tell me they felt the same way.Eye Auto Focus only works if the subject is facing the camera and even then it depends heavily on the lens for locking on. As soon as your subject turns their head at even the slightest angle away from the camera, it is unable to get a lock on the visible eye.Sony set the contrast so low in the images, in order to get a bette Dynamic Range out of the camera, that you literally have to use their best lenses with great microcontrast in order to get a decent looking image out of the camera.Another point of failure is the fact that the camera doesnt come with an external battery charger and that creates major issues where youre likely to snap the door off while trying to charge the camera via the plug that was provided.Even more, the menu driven controls has you going through about 100 pages of controls just to configure the camera. Its one of the worst menu systems youll ever use and this is compounded by the ridiculously poor content in the cameras manual The literally layout the whole camera menu system in the manual and fail to thoroughly explain several settings. If youre looking st this body and you dont need the 5 FPS burst rate, just go ahead and grab the A7R II, you wont regret that decision.

Pros The ability and capability of this camera is truly phenomenal. Given the right investment in time and patience to learn how the camera operates this camera is an absolutely incredible piece of kit which you will have no regrets in investing in. Coming from a Canon EOS 250D to this is a huge upgrade and the improved specification from DSLR to Mirrorless itself is a clear improvement and is able to produce brilliant photos even with the kit lens provided. For those aspiring photographers who wish to delve further into the world of photography this is by far the best high end camera to start looking into The possibilities that this camera offers are infinite and is by far a strong contender in the photography scene.Cons Out of my time getting used to the camera itself I have but only two improvements I could possibly want.1. Nikon, Canon and other companies use very friendly user interfaces. Sony on the other hand requires you to do research to understand its countless pages of settings. A silver lining is this creates the possibility to personalise pretty much any setting to suit your own person taste.2. The porting covers for HDMI, USB and microphone are all very easy to access yes but at the same time the covers are flimsy and could be improved with a more solid alternative.

This review comes after a brief period of two weeks use of this camera. I am primarily a wedding photographer, using adapted Canon L primes with the Sigma MC11 adapter. This is a stellar little camera. Image quality is excellent, with the best dynamic range of any camera I have personally used. High ISO performance is also fantastic. Autofocus was surprisingly good with the MC11 adapter, fast in most situations. Autofocus with this combination in video mode, however, is not so good. If youre planning to shoot video with this camera, consider manual focus or native Sony lenses. The menu system is not perfect, but better than I was expecting. Battery life isnt as good as Im used to with my 5Diii, but really good considering how much battery life is in this generation of Sony cameras vs. the previous generation. I got about 1250 photos on a charge. My largest gripe is that Sony did not include a battery charger. This is bad form from Sony, but considering how good this camera is, at 2000, I cant complain.Id recommend this camera to just about anybody. Excellent image quality, perfect resolution, fast autofocus, small yet dense form factor. Im impressed.

Let me start by saying I love this camera and the quality of images it produces. Now that thats out of the way, Ive been one of the unlucky owners who have experienced the what appears to be becoming infamous Camera Error. Turn power off and then on shutter assembly breakdowns. Im a very busy real estate photographer who shoots pretty much every day and this camera was everything I had hoped for when I purchased it on release day. The other day, the shutter of my three month old camera went haywire multiple shutter releases similar to a burst shot in the middle of a shoot and the Camera Error message appeared. When that message appears, the camera cannot be turned off and can only be powered down when the battery is removed. The problem did not resolve itself and the camera now has to go back to Sony for service with shipping costs NOT picked up by Sony. There are YouTube videos posted by others that are experiencing this problem. I guess the point is buyer beware, especially if youre a working photographer. I imagine the problem is a manufacturing defect or defective shutter assembly with at least some of the cameras, but who knows, maybe its a widespread issue with all the cameras that is only now beginning to reveal itself.
NAIRBOY –
Returned the unit after a few weeks of consistently seeing a tiny spot on all my videos. Mustve been a spec of dust on the sensor or something, but the built in sensor cleaning shouldve handled that. The Sony A7C is a better buy at this point because it delivers the same sensor with better auto focus in a liver body, but I didnt have the time to wait for its availability. Went to the Canon R6 instead.
SUBHRANIL –
In short, its awesome. You will have the feel of the best camera in an affordable price. Its lightweight and small but had some stunning clicks. I am yet to explore it more with different varieties of lenses. The only feature I could wish to be present in this is a rotating screen to view the live picture in a selfie mode.

The camera is a great entry into the full frame format. The video features as well make it an attractive camera for sloggers and videographers. If you are looking for a generalist kind of camera this is the perfect fit for you. In addition if you are interested in entering the Sony ecology over the long term like I am, I am looking forward to collecting the spectacular variety of lenses available to the alpha line. There is one catch. I am not to thrilled with the kit lens, though it is a pretty good lens, only that in my case I am looking more to do with low light projects. I should have bought the camera by itself and taken care of looking for a good prime lens to start with. However that being said, the autofocus features works of this kit lens works very well, responds well in video settings and for now I can hang on to it until I can save the money to start my lens collection for this series.
Jose –
I am very happy with the camera, its an awesome entry level device into the fullframe market. Being that I am a lifelong Canon user going back to the AE1, this is my entrance into the mirrorless, fullframe world. I barely had the budget to purchase a decent lens, so I settled for the kit lens which is quite limited. Thinking back however, I should have opted for an entry level prime lens for a little more money. but I hope to expand my equipment and lens collection in the not so distant future.Outside the prime lens the kit is worth the money, You will need a lens cover, and it doesnt hurt to acquire the other goodies if your starting out for the same price as buying the camera itself.

I upgraded from an a6300 and Ive had the camera for a little over a year and a half and it has been nothing short of fantastic. Great value, awesome performance and because I bought it Body Only and on sale I was able to match it up with a Tamron 2875 Lens and a few Sony Prime Lenses 85mm 1.8 and has allowed me to everything I needed from shooting weddings and engagement photos to being able to use it as a Streaming Camera for Twitch. Highly recommended and is still one of the best Bang for your Buck buys to this day.

I strongly suggest looking around for detailed reviews, so that you know what you are doing in getting this camera, you are dropping 2 grand after all, but that said, this is the former flagship Sony Full Frame camera and is an extremely strong performer. I take absolutely stunning photos with this camera and its lowlight performance shooting in dimly lit clubs with the 85mm F1.8 is phenomenal. Im a big fan of the joystick and the plethora of dials and buttons, and the battery performance is extremely good I havent felt the need to purchase additional batteries yet, as I havent come close to running out of juice doing shoots for an entire night. I somewhat regret getting it with the kit lens since I am replacing that lens with a tamron 2875 F2.8, but that is just a matter of replacing a 300 lens with a 900 lens.Long story short, I am in love with this camera and havent really found a fault with it.

What a professional camera packed into a portable, budget friendly body. I feel like a real pro when shooting with my A7iii between the almost completely that dang battery door weather sealing, 10fps burst, eye af, and fantastic Sony, Zeiss, and Sigma glass My 70200 f4 lives on my A7iii. My only concern is the shutter life at a low 200,000 vs. the 500,000 on my A7rii. Why make a camera capable of this burst rate and buffer if youre not going to ensure a longer shutter life If Sony commits to fixing the broken and it seems a lot of the time defective shutters for free, Ill change my rating to 5 stars.
Danish –
The A7III really is the best allaround camera a person can buy today, and for years to come. Ive owned it for five months now and Ive used it nearly every day with the Sony 2.8 2470 GM. Many of the photos Ive taken have been for digital publications and print some making it on the covers of magazines. Ive come back after all this time to write this review because with this 3.0 update that introduced Realtime Eye AF words simply cannot describe how lifechanging this is for any scenario. Imagine every photo you take where the camera instantly focuses on the eye every time, without hesitation, and in nearly any lighting.Battery life is phenomenal the ability to charge it with USBC or microUSB is a dream come true. I have no need for a second battery. I just carry a big portable battery and plug it in after a shoot. The only criticism I can give is the menu system just wish it was more touchenabled something I believe could be done in future updates. Also, the autowhite balance could use some adjustments. Working a studio testing the camera out, it changed the tones a dozen times even as nothing changed.I also do video. Admittingly, the IBIS is not as good as the GH5 largely in part due to the fact that most Sony lenses do not have OIS. However, something is better than nothing, especially in low light.

This camera right here. This camera right here is a godsend. For anyone looking to upgrade to full frame andor 4K, this camera is a definite go.My only issues with the camera are that you cant view both cards info in playback. You can only view one card at a time and you have to dive into the playback menu to change which card to read since you cant add it to the My Menu tab. You also cant use the zoom function in photo modes, although you can still use the APSC mode if you want. Other than those two issues which are relatively minor for my purposes, this is a beautiful piece of kit.Ive used the A7 III on night shoots, in apartments with iffy flourescent lighting, overcast and broad daylight, and on set with controlled LEDs and tungstens so far. The footage looks amazing straight out of camera, especially if you learn to tweak your picture profiles. The battery life rumors arent exaggerations either. Ive shot in 4K from around 3PM to 9PM along with some photos and 120fps 1080p also gorgeous by the way with monitor brightness set to the max and still had 19 left on one battery. Always a good idea to have a second one for back up, but on most shoots you probably wont need it.Photos are amazing in this camera. Eye AF is a useful feature, especially if you havent been able to use it before hand. The joystick is great for selecting focus points, but you can also use the screen for the same purpose. Autofocus is snappy and reliable, especially on native lenses, and focus peaking is great when using vintage glass.Definitely recommend this camera. I upgraded from a Canon 80D and have zero regret. Sony, thank you.

Excellent camera Takes great photos and videos. I have no complaints regarding this camera whatsoever. One piece of advice would be to upload the photos directly to your laptop and email them to your phone from there. The app that allows you to transfer them from the camera directly to your phone is not only terrible to use, but it makes the photos lesser quality and adds a bit of blur to them. The photos Ive added are taken by this camera with a FE 2870 mm F3.55.6 OSS lens that I purchased as a bundle with it.

This camera is amazing. As someone who has been trying to upgrade their camera gear for a while this has been the most exciting thing This camera takes amazing pictures and stunning video. I highly recommend this camera if you are one wanting to up your photo video The camera is very sturdy and the finish is very nice. It fits comfortably in the hand as opposed to other cameras that have an awkward hand grip.

Upgraded from the Sony a6300 and it was the smartest investment Ive made Ive been wanting to upgrade to a full frame for years after honing my craft in both portraitflash photography and filmmaking I knew this was the right camera. I just started figuring out Slog profiles and bought SmallRig cages and items to make this thing into the beast that it is The EyeAF Zone is super fast and burst mode is lightning quick and consistent. I havent had a problem with battery life like people have mentioned and the electronic viewfinder is incredible
Hutchy –
I tested the burst speed using a Lexar 300MBps memory card in the UHSII slot. The camera manages 10fps in its fastest burst mode. The amount of shots you can take before the camera stalls varies based on the file format you use. I tested Uncompressed Raw and Extra Fine JPG 34 shots, Compressed Raw and Extra Fine JPG 78 shots, Uncompressed Raw 37 shots, Compressed Raw 103 shots, and Extra Fine JPG 164 shots. Recovery time, the duration it takes for the buffer to fully clear to the memory card, varies based on file format. If youre shooting RawJPG either format expect to wait about 24 seconds, but only about 14 seconds for Raw alone. Because you can capture so many more JPG images at a time, the write time to clear them to the card is about 54 seconds.

Switched from Nikon to Sony. I used to use a Nikon D850. I needed to lighten my load due to carpal tunnel on my right wrist.Bought this combined with the 55mm f1.8 lens. Perfectly balanced. It is fast and accurate with its latest firmware update. I am a dance and fashion photographer. The EyeAF nails focus super fast and accurately with the dancers I have photographed. I have not tested the EyeAF feature for animals. Battery life is pretty darn good compared to DSLRs nowadays. My only Two cons that I can see is the menu system and weather sealing. I have used the custom menu to set up functions I use the most so I do not have to scroll through the menus and submenus. In the area of weather sealing it is not as good as the Canon and Nikon DSLRs.
Angel –
Perfect camera. This thing does everything well. Lots of people always ask, what do you shoot If your answer is a little bit of everything, I dont know, or I want flexibilty…this is the camera for you. Improved battery life from the previous model that was already great. At 1999.99 there isnt a better camera on the market
Geoffrey –
Pros Light weight comparatively. Fantastic autofocus system. Good battery life for a mirrorless camera. Great weather sealing. Seemingly endless options for lenses if you are using or want to try adapting and dont mind manual focus.Cons Battery life seems super short if you are used to a DSLR. Lenses are less plentiful than other systems. Lenses and accessories are expensive. No reliable autofocus adapters if you are coming from a Nikon system. When I got started with photography, I started with Nikon and they did fantastic. But, as I progressed, I realized that the A7III was the perfect blend of weight, size, autofocus speed, adaptability, and low light performance for what I wanted to do for the foreseeable future. I still have my Nikon gear, but for most situations I find myself ending up with this one in my hand. Also, the kit lens is a pretty good lens comparatively, but if you plan on doing a lot of low light or video work you might want to consider getting something with a constant, fast aperture and snappy focus speed.

Only had the camera for a day and I can easily say it is a priceless piece of hardware. Spent weeks looking to upgrade my Canon 80D as I shift into indoor and studio photography. The full frame sensor gives me so much more versatility in these situations. Went ahead and put a 50mm prime on it right away to fit my needs and almost cried after taking a few photos. Truly spectacular. The autofocus, low light capabilities, and controls are all intuitive and quick to customize. In body stabilization is groundbreaking after working without it for so long. The only gripes I have are the size of the camera being pretty small for my bigger hands, and the strap is lackluster. I also wish Sony would include a battery charger with the camera but charging in body is not the worst. Ill also miss the fully tilting screen, but its got enough tilt to fit most situations I will need it in. 2400 extremely well spent. I imagine it will pay for itself handily in the coming months.Photos included were taken with minimal prep just to see what it could do. Do with this info as you please.
Raul –
This camera is amazing. I use mostly vintage lenses and shoot manually. I like to plan and practice which saves me money I dont have trying to buy Sony native lenses. The camera is flexible and if you take care of it, plan accordingly, and have one or two extra batteries it will take you far. The cage is a must because you can add even more accessories and given the small size of the camera body you dont get much bulk even with the cage, plus you have added protection. The only gripe I have is the lcd it is definitely too small to see if you captured the details. I have added an external 5 monitor and it solved that problem. Either way, I love this camera

After couple of months researching, and reading up as much of professional reviews and customers reviews as I can find, my main requirement this time for a new DSLR is that it must be a full frame camera. It came down to either this Sony a7iii or a7riii. I finally settled on the a7iii. The main reason is that I dont need the extra megapixel that came with the 7r since most of my photo shoots will be for family functions, street shootings, nature, and astrophotography. When comparing Sony a7iii to other full frame, I looked at the functions, features, imaging quality, and last but not least, price. Since I am not a professional photographer and I dont rely on my camera for a living, I lean toward a mid entry camera. When comparing the similarly priced Nikon, Canon and others, Sony stood out from the rest of the pack. I bought a package with 24105mm OSS lens. I can honestly say that this camera did not disappoint in term of features and pictures quality. Even when shooting under low lighting, the images are sharp and beautiful. The included battery last entire day of shooting with plenty of juice left at the end of the day. Charging the battery through the camera can take up to 5 or 6 hours. I recommend purchasing a Sony external charger. Charging time takes only 2.5 hours to fully charge a fully drained battery. One thing that threw me off first time using it is that any part in the viewing screen that the camera think its too bright or can be over exposed, that part would have black and white diagonal lines through them. No where in the instruction or in any of the reviews did they mention that. I almost panicked the first time I noticed that and didnt know what caused it. It wasnt until I started playing with the iso, fstop and speed, that I noticed the lines went away. So just because you see it, it doesnt necessarily mean that your photo will be over exposed, it just to let you know that that part of the photo is brighter than the rest, and you can compensate as necessary. With the 24102 mm OSS zoom lens, I was able to take photo of my daughter soccer game, and crop it later to close up on the actions. Even when cropped, the photos still remained sharp. Everyday street shooting, family gatherings, evening time by the firelight, the images are stunningly beautiful. The viewing screen is a bit small for me. When trying to focus on a distant star through the telescope, it is a bit difficult. But that is normal for any DSLR. My plan is to purchase an external monitor to attach to the Sony to make that task a bit easier. One thing I came to love is the button customization. You can go online to see how you can customize the buttons to do what you wanted it to do. Once you get used to it, you will wonder how you ever lived without it in the first place. Like anything else, there is a bit of a learning curve. Im still learning it. To me thats part of the fun. I havent played with the video mode much, but the quality of the video Ive taken so far was quite impressive. It definitely rival that of some dedicated video camera. Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase. If you dont need or want a full frame camera, you can definitely save some money by going with the other format DSLR. But if you want full frame and with DSLR features, and superb quality, you cant go wrong with this Sony.

Coming from the A7II this wasnt a crazy upgrade but in the first few weeks of ownership Ive done a mixture of photo and video and the features that called out to me to upgrade have proven worthwhile the better AF from the A9, the joystick on the back, the better battery life, and the 4K video.I use my camera for a mixture of hobbyist use and some photo and video shoots for work. The new AF has been a lot more solid for me and the joystick with the adaptive spot AF has been great. Both have helped me shoot quicker. The 4k video was the real reason I thought about upgrading in the first place and Im glad I have it.One small upgrade that I didnt even think about but I love is the Priority AWB. I always found the Auto White Balance too warm on my A7II and now the A7III has the ability to set the warmth of the Auto White Balance. I can now set it to a neutral white from the start and add warmth later if needed. One of those small hidden features that has been a huge change for me.With A7IIs still getting good prices on the second hand market, this was a good upgrade for me. I got some new features that have improved my work and was able to rationalize the purchase with a strong sale of my old A7II.

This is my first Sony, having been a Nikon user since the Jurassic era.But now Im increasingly doing video, I needed to upgrade from the barely adequate Nikon D600 I was using.First impressions were that the camera felt very good to use, I loved the positioning of the buttons once Id got around the finger memory of using my Nikons. The position of the record button is just right, and the exposure compensation knob is perfect, I love it really good to use for small adjustments on the fly.The menu system took a bit of getting used to, and I know Ive still got a way to go before customising the camera just how Id like it.But now Ive used it on a few filming jobs, I love it.The focusing is beautiful, especially compared to my D600, or in fact any other camera Ive tried.I really feel that my filming can flow.Already and Ive only owned it just over a month I feel I can concentrate on being creative, and not wrestling with the tech. This is the best tech upgrade Ive done since going full frame with my stills cameras.Im seriously thinking of selling all my Nikon gear to buy a second Sony body, and a whole set of lenses.Yes, Im that impressed.

for me. Very impressed with the overall quality of the camera body as well as the 3570mm lens. There is much to learn about the detailed and lengthy menus, but many menu items are not required for normal shooting. Operating in full automatic, aperture or shutter priority modes are all yielding great results. Priced well below the latest models, I believe current pricing of the alpha 7 iii is a great deal.

I use this camera mostly for video work and Ive still only scratched the surface of everything it can do. The recording stops after 30 minutes for those looking for that details. An added bonus is I am able to link it to my computer to use for live streams making the video through zoom or youtube far superior to a laptop or webcam. I also love the auto motion sensor keeping me in focus whenever my subject is moving, especially if Im working on another camera and this is the BRoll camera set up on a tripod on the side.

I bought a Sony a7iii a week ago. I got two lenses, the kit lens f3.55.62870mm, and the f1.885mm lens. My primary use case is recording videos of myself using a tripod in my home hence my interest in the features below. With a new toy, I had to play with it a bunch. As a camera, it works better than any camera Ive ever used. I brought it on a camping trip, and was amazed at how late into the evening I was able to take reasonably clear photographs at ISO12500. The focus tracking when recording video with shallow depthoffield is much better than any prior camera Ive used. I could take clear videos of my kids reading books in a dark tent to the light of a single flashlight. Wow My kids think the slowmotion recording feature is neat. The only taking pictures issue Ive encountered so far is that one pixel always comes out bright white, no matter what the color of the area Im taking a photo of is. I guess that is what retouching is for, although Id love a way to map it out and perhaps have it colored based on neighbouring pixels. If you want to learn about how great the photos are, how great the videos are, etc. just go look for reviews on YouTube. There are plenty of them. But as an engineer, I tend to notice the things which are not quite right yet, and figured it would be useful for some others if I listed what Ive noticed so far. Many reviewers have pointed out that the menu system is a mess. But how is it a mess It has three problems a too many options presented in a single flat menu system. The organization and categorization of menu items is loose at best, with many things crammed in where they dont really seem to fit. b too many poor abbreviations. Quick, what is Set. Face Prty in AF Is it a face party Clicking on it reveals the ohsoclear option Face Dtct Frame Dsp. What c in a seemingly random fashion you can only select certain menu items in certain modes, only if youve not selected other menu items. Getting something turned on such as actual silent shooting with no beeps is hopeless without Googling the answer. The camera can be controlled by a cell app. Ive tried the PlayMemories Mobile app on Android on a Google Pixel running the latest Android release 8.1.0. Getting it to connect via WiFi over a local network is not something Ive gotten to work. I cant get the bluetooth pairing to geotag photos to work. The WiFi direct connection works as long as you dont mistakenly open a menu or change modes, at which point the connection will probably but not always drop. Once you run this app, Android will tell you that it is draining your phones battery even after you close the app, swipe it away, and turn off your camera. You need to force stop it or reboot the phone to stop it from consuming power. Every time you want to connect your app to the phone even after a random dropped connection you need to find the WiFi option deep in the phone menus strangely you are not allowed to add this one to your custom quick menu and turn it on again. This annoyed the crud out of me until I figured out that an NFC tap also seems to turn it on. So this app is better than not having the app, but has a lot of rough edges. There is a desktop app called PC Remote. Like the mobile app, it promises to let you not have to buy an external monitor for your camera, just use a laptop instead I got it to work by plugging in a microUSB cable. It worked briefly then failed if I tried using USBC. It strangely doesnt work over WiFi or bluetooth. The UI is so compact as to be illegible on my Surface Book screen. It seems that Sony engineers only own and test on lowerresolution displays. Due to my trouble connecting, requirement for a cable, and the tiny display, this is much less useful to me than the flaky cell app so I dont think Ill be using it even though it would give me a much larger display. The phone supports WiFi. Cool, can you use that to copy photos to your computer It supports that, via ftp great So I set that up. I configured an ftp server, and then gave the phone the credentials and IP address. It worked… sort of. To use it, you have to select each and every photo you want to copy. You cant just say copy them all. Or even better, copy each photo to my server as I take it. That would be too easy. Worse yet, it arbitrarily refuses to copy video files, it only copies photos. Photos get placed in a directory named via a random number generator, so after they are copied you have to go hunting for them. This is a feature which seems not ready for actual use on a prolevel camera what Id really want is for the fullyconfigured camera to just automatically copy photos and videos to my server as I take them, without my getting involved. Perhaps this will come someday.Overall, I love the camera but some of the features could certainly use some work.

This is A7iii is my second Sony camera. My other Sony is A77II. As much as I have enjoyed that camera it isnt even in the same realm. The images this camera produces are beautiful. I find the camera to be very user friendly with the exception of the menu system. I watched several videos on how to useset the menu up and although those few hours were a bit dry did help me become confident in using the DEEP menu structure. The A7iii ability to gather light is nothing less than spectacular. The auto focus is as close to instantiations as seems possible as well as very accurate. I have not shot any video with it yet, so I will leave those functions to others to comment on. The body is a bit small for my hands especially when paired with the 2470 2.8 GM lens which is my only lens as this time. I felt the need to purchase a third party grip right away since I didnt feel very confidant in the grip I had with the enormous lens. The ability to set custom functions to several buttons makes many common tasks easy. I do miss the fully articulating screen of my other camera but I usually use the EVF anyway. The A7iii and A7Riii both have some firmware issues at the time of this review which have caused me to be unable to view pictures I have taken in camera. Yes that is frustrating but having read several articles I believe Sony will be releasing a Firmware update in the next week or two which will fix this bug. This is the sole reason I didnt give this camera a 5 star review. The lack of an included dedicated charger, while annoying was not a major issue for me since I knew about it before purchasing my camera so ordered a charger at the same time. The menu structure while very DEEP allows a lot of customization which I appreciate. This camera allows the user to create their own menu for the settings which one most frequently uses and that is brilliant I was disappointed Sony did not include a PC sync port on this camera but the Sony wireless adapter has one on it, so not a major problem. The battery life is better than any camera I have ever had including several Cannons I had before switching to Sony. All in all I am very happy with this camera and encourage anyone on the fence to give this wonder a shot.

This product is great…. Im an amateur photographer that specializes in automotivedrift photography and the quality of the photos is amazing. There is a lot to learn with this camera… it has so many settings its unbelievable. To some, it may be too much but out of the box with the lens it does great work. This is coming from an A7ii upgrade, does great work. Lenses are pricy but you pay for quality.

Pros not heavy, solid body qualitym low noise at highiso, nice colors, very nice viewfinder and display, much better battery life than a7 II. Video quality is also stunning. Great autofocus for both photo and video. Two card slots still, one is UHSI which may be a problem for someone, not for me. Cons compared to my old a700, it is smaller and needs a vertical grip so you could hold it with all your fingers Also, lacks a couple of switches metering mode and focusing mode. In fact, it only have buttons, no switches, which sometimes may slow you down.

After 3 years with an a6000 my long overdue upgrade to an a7iii has been transformative. Paired with my Sigma 2470mm f2.8 Art lens Im taking the photos Ive been dreaming of but came up short on too often with the crop sensor. While the MP rating is the same, the quality and resolution of this camera is far above the a6000. I like the feel, the menus were easy to learn having used Sony before, and the battery life is silly awesome. I shot 250 photos last weekend at an event over 3 hours with quite a bit of reviewing and only went from 97 to 82. I have a second battery on the way and I think Im gonna be good for awhile.

I switched from Canon and have zero regrets. This camera is great in low light and performs exceptionally in both photo and video. The inbody stabilization allows for smooth video off tripod. Back to low light, I crank the ISO beyond 3200 and barely notice any noise. The only con I have so far is the menu. Its overwhelming at first and does take some getting used to. Almost everything can be customized, so once you get the hang of it, the possibilities are endless.
Harmony –
I got this as an upgrade to the A7 ii and is a definite improvement. Bigger battery means much more use between charges. Much better autofocusing. Two memory slots although I only use one of them so far. The M3 is a tad heavier but still feels nice in the hands. I also shoot stars at night and find that the M3 is easier to manually focus on stars many more stars are visible in the monitor than were seen with the M2. Maybe due to a better sensor Maybe due to a better monitor Focus Peaking, on both the M2 and M3, is a great feature that I used a lot when in manual focus mode.

Listen, this camera is a bit old at this point, but it is still a pound for pound contender. The one thing that still separates the a7iii from the current crop sensor offerings from Sony is that the 1080p footage actually still looks fantastic. The a6300, a6400, a6500, and a6600 all have very soft and generally unusable 1080p at 120fps.I do wish this camera had some of the newer, less talked about features, but theyve done a great job with their firmware updates keeping this camera competitive.

As a long time cinematographer, I wanted to purchase a camera for less than that would really satisfy my baseline needs from a photovideo device. For many years I shot almost exclusively on blue chip cinema cameras Arri RED but I wanted something I could bring with me while traveling going on adventures that could do the moments justice.Put simply, this camera stunned me not only with its ease of use but its detailcolorpicture quality. Its sometimes scary when youre trying to judge your photos just off of the LCD on the camera. When I first took it out and started snapping shots, I didnt REALLY know what I was getting. Once I brought them into lightroom, I quite honestly fell in love. The amount of clean detail you can pull from shadows without that purple noise that canon sometimes has… the amount of detail hidden when you bring down the highlights… the color straight out of camera… its truly amazing. Not to mention how quickly and consistent the autofocus is both for photos and video. This is one of those cameras that makes you want to plan weekends around it. Where can I go that I can get some great shots from this thing This camera wont make you a photographer filmmaker, but if youre already an enthusiast it will give you every reason to want to go out and shoot because you know the end result will be just as you hoped or better.

Anyone hesitate going to Sonys mirrorless dont. Theres a reason why this camera is sold out everywhere. Theres a lot of raves about this camera. When Sony came up with NEX 7 more than 5 years ago, it was a head turner in terms of design and image quality. A really small camera can produce image and 1080p video that is good if not better than other APSC cameras of its generation. The A7 series live up to the expectation with one important upgrade full frame sensor. Coming to the third iteration of the A7 series, Sony not just give you the best bang for the buck it is now already a mature system with full options of lens line up and accessories.Compare that to Nikon and Canon, they are just becoming more serious in the mirrorless game. But the true and tried is Sony and the camera for the general purpose shooting is the Sony A7 iii.The camera feels and looks good. It is a solid camera in terms of design and portability.Image quality is great, enjoy it with your 4K screen so you can realize how good it is. Noise control, sharpness and color is pleasing. Dynamic range is great, the camera is able to capture some really complex lighting conditions. Low light performance is great, will likely to turn heads of Canon 5D series owners. High ISO feels useful not just some gimmicks though you may want to limit shooting above iso 6400.Menu customization is great and well structured. Compatibility to Sony Amount lens is available through a separate mount adapter and it works great although youre going to waste the A7 iii auto focus system by using the adapters AF system.Kit lens is not bad. It is actually good for the money. If you compare it with the Zeiss F4 lens of the same focal length, you will appreciate your kit lens more as there are not a few people keeping their kit lens rather than getting the Zeiss lens due to insignificant image quality differences between these lenses.Video quality is also great and options for great video lens are there. You can buy cheaper APSC power zoom lens, which works great for A7 iii video. No 4K 60fps but that is okay because that is the standard 4K framerate nowadays. Video is still limited to not exceed 30 minutes per clip. Builtin microphone is okay but most people will eventually use external mic anyway if they are serious about their video. One feature that no Canon and Nikon give you even with their newest mirrorless camera that they just announced dual slot cards. This gives you another layer of security so you know that your image will not get corrupted due to some memory card error. You can also assign the first slot to take JPEG and the second slot to take RAW.Transferring image from camera to computer and even to smartphones are easy. The app works well. For those of you who consider getting the A7R iii or A7 iii, the former does give you more resolution. If you have tons of APSC E mount lens, it does more make sense to get the A7R iii because the A7 iii will automatically crop your image to 10mpix while A7Riii will give you several more mpix. When you come to think of it, even with the cropped 10mpix image that can make good quality A4 size prints.A7 III is a good investment that will last you years.

I switched from Nikon to Sony when I got an A7 earlier this year and liked it more than my D750. I bought the A7III expecting something similar to the A7 and did not quite get that. The build feels cheaper than the original A7 and the screen flip is not as fluid or solid, that being said, its definitely a far better design. While the initial feels is of slightly lower build quality than the A7, and its much thicker, actual field use proves that it is far better constructed and way more ergonomic. Its definitely a learning curve to go from anything else, be it A7 or Nikon, to this camera because the controls are so different, but after spending an hour with the manual and about 20 hours shooting, the controls are second nature. Its almost like Sony knows where the controls should be, its hard to explain why, but thats what it feels like.Image quality is amazing, the weight is better than my Nikon, and the video is out of this world. Some may argue that with a big lens it weighs as much as the D750, but they fail to mention that the camera AND lens of the A7III weigh as much as the D750 body alone, so youre really shaving off the weight of whatever lens would be on a conventional DSLR. While its almost as thick and as wide as the D750, its a lot shorter so it still fits nicely in a smaller camera back and better in your hands. I feel like with a battery grip, the size would be perfect. The biggest drawback for me, and this was an out of the box shock, was that it doesnt come with a battery charger, you have to charge in camera unless you buy an external charger separately. That bugged me mainly because if I would have known, I would have bought the charger at the same time.Bottom line, I couldnt be happier with the camera and I just love shooting with it. Nikon is supposedly coming out with a comparable mirror less camera, but I feel it is too little, too late. The Sony A7III has mastered the art of what it is, and Sony has been working on this for 5 years, for Nikon to try and jump in right now is a not going to work well for them.I hope this helps anyone considering the camera, Its an easy 5start choice on this thing and dont let the battery rating by Sony fool you. I used this for 12 hours at a car show and the drag strip and ended the day with 1200 pictures and about 20 minutes worth of different slow motion video clips. The battery was still at 40 when I got home. If you leave it on all day it might kill the battery, but if youre turning it off when youre not using it, I think that youre going to be just fine.

The Sony a7iii is the best camera Ive ever used. The image quality is better than my also full frame DSLR. Eye autofocus never misses. Low light performance is impressive. Also many 3rd party lenses available. The menu system will let you customize almost anything, but is very poorly designed. Battery life is extremely good for a mirrorless camera. I got a great deal on a barely used copy. However FedEx shipping is terrible

I have been filming corporate pro sports video since 2010 and have ownedused many cameras Panasonic GH2, GH3, GH4 Canon 5D Mark II, Mark III, Mark IV Canon C100 Mark II and various other small chip Panasonic and Canon camcorders. The thing that made me delay switching to Sony sooner was the color science and the lack of reliable continuous autofocus, after all everyone knows that Canon has the best color and autofocus on the market right But most people agree that Canon has fallen behind on video quality in their DSLRs. The 1080p video across all DSLR cameras is very soft almost blurry and the 4k video uses horrible file codecs. Unless you want to spend 10k and buy a C300 mark II or use the RAW files on the C200 then you are out of luck.So being fed up with Canon, I decided to give Sony a try starting with the latest addition to their lineup the A7III. After using it on my first job, I was nervous about seeing the footage. Do the colors look good Did the autofocus work After reviewing my video files I can say without a doubt that for video, the Sony A7III produces the sharpest and cleanest video files of any system I have used. The continuous autofocus worked perfectly and the colors are gorgeous.I am definitely a Sony guy now and will start building my native Sony E lens collection along with a second body I may wait to see what the A7S III has to offer but if it doesnt come with 4k60p, then I cant see how its even possible to improve on the A7III video image at all. In summary the Sony A7III is the pinnacle of full frame video when it comes to image color, sharpness and quality see the 4k video frame grab I am posting. Final thought about battery battery life is great. People are complaining that the camera doesnt come with a proper battery charger if you do shoot video or take photos as a pro for pay, then you will need multiple batteries anyway so save yourself the headache and buy the Sony NPAMQZ1K Multi Battery Adapter Kit. I can now charge 4 batteries at once which will last probably 2 full days of shoots before rechargingIf you are on the fence just buy the camera, you will be glad you did.

If you are looking for a great point and shoot this is it. Not too expensive compared to others but definitely not cheap either. Unless you know you are going to be taking alot of pictures or already do there are others in the 800 or less. But if you have the extra money and truly want quality then its amazing. If you are beginning its best to get the starter lens and mess around before buying a more expensive lens because you will be paying 700 for a great lens to go with the great camera. I have shown the quality to a few friends and they have all bought the same camera its that good.

The Sony A7 iii is a great value camera, full stop.Pros Image Quality the 24mp full frame sensor and processor delivers exceeding clean and malleable RAW files and great quality JPGs. Dont believe the stuff you may readsee about Sony color science. The files this camera produces are very flexible the only limitation is the skill of the editor. Size Weight The A7iii body is small, and light, if you dont have large hands this camera handles pretty well. Still Image Features The AF features are excellent. Eye AF and continuous tracking AF are really fast and are game changers in the real of autofocus.CONS Video Its solidly capable, but there are better, cheaper, and more flexible options on the market for videohybrid shooting. Ergonomics Good but not great compared to similar cameras from other manufacturers. Once I customized it to my liking it handles well. Yes, the menus are complicated but the feature set is extensive Lens Cost and Size While there are some good quality affordable options out there and potentially more in the future right now, to get the best quality glass you will have to spend a fair amount. Also, physics always wins full frame highquality glass is large and heavy.OVERALLIts really hard to beat the combo of features and performance in the A7iii. Some similar cameras cost less, while others have better performance in certain areas. No camera is perfect but this one worked the best for me. I shoot mostly still photos with some occasional video. Sonys ecosystem in full frame mirrorless is the most evolved at this point. At the end of the day, its the photographer that takes the picture the camera just makes it easier or harder to do, and this Sony definitely makes it easier to create the kind of images I want to create.

I purchased the A7iii to move to the next level with my photography. I had an entrylevel Nikon D3300. I was not invested in too much glass and I liked the idea of moving to full frame photography. I was also impressed with the array of features offered on mirrorless camera systems. I decided between the Sony and Nikon z6. I felt that the z6 did not have enough higherend features to justify the price. I like the dual memory card slots, the battery life offered in the A7iii. The downside of the Sony is the menu system is a maze. That being said, there are plenty of tutorials on setting the camera up and using the numerous custom buttons to make going back into the menus a rare occurrence. The electronic viewfinder also took some getting used to but it is great having WYSIWYG. With all of those settings it is very customizable. The autofocus and the many options with it are amazing. I was so impressed that Sony released a firmware update including the Eye autofocus and several other entirely new features. The kit lens is sharp but I did not find it to be very versatile so I purchased the FE 424105 G OSS lens a couple of months later and have used it for just about everything. Once you start using bigger lenses the sizeweight of the body does not make that big of a difference.

I will preface this review by saying that I am a longtime Canon person with quite a bit invested in Canon bodies and lenses. However, after a recent negative Canon experience and my sense that Canon wasnt investing in their sensors like Sony is, I decided to see if the mirrorless world was where I wanted to invest for the future. I have had the a7R III and the 2470 lens for about a month now and I have to say that I am truly blown away. The image quality is superior to my 5d Mark IV and 5DSR, the video quality is spectacular, and the camera is just simply easier to use and quite a bit lighter than my Canon gear. The EyeAF feature in particular is tremendous. I backbutton focus and then recompose but with the EyeAF feature the camera accurately tracks the eyes perfectly and the results are stunning. I am in the process of mapping out a plan to sell all my Canon gear to transition to Sony.

Sony a7iii is my 1st camera and i am beginner for the photograph. I was satisfied with a7iii. Although i didnt use this camera very hard but last 2 weeks i tried with my kit lens 2870 mm and got decent good quality images. Im sure that i will get high quality images if i put some lenses like 70200mm f2.8, 85mm f1.4, etc. The ergonomics for handling is comfortable. When i operated continuously for 2 hrs, i felt the gear getting heated little but you can operate. You can operate until the battery die after the full charge. I knew this is a common problem from mirrorless. With the sony tough 64sd in slot 1, i didnt experience lag in buffer when shooted in high frames. During my usage with eye autofocus, i didnt feel any delay. Its really incredible and continuously contact with the eyes. I tried mainly with manual mode because i can control all functions. Zebra settings, manual focus assist, peaking levels helping me very much. I have to try my gear in winter. I highly recommend this product. Another thing i want to mention about the service of Calumet. I made the order through the website and i was satisfied highly. People were polite and friendly. I got quick response from the people very fast. thanks calumet.

I am having a lovehate relationship with this camera. I have been a Canon shooter since the film days. This is my first Sony digital camera. I am having difficulty connecting the camera to 3rd party devices and trying to actually ask Sony Customer Support a question seems impossible to accomplish. My first issue was connecting the Vello ShutterBoss II to the camera. The BH site shows it in the accessory popup. I have used this remote with my Canon cameras for doing timelapse capture. The ShutterBossII would only work with the A7III if I did a halfpress on the cameras shutter button which defeats the purpose. I contacted BH and was referred to Vello Customer Support. According to Vello the A7III has a different voltage requirement than similar A7 cameras. Honestly, I think they were guessing. There are other intervalometer solutions out there but Im not sure at this point if my camera is working correctly or notThe next issue was trying to connect my Atomos Ninja 2 to the A7III micro HDMI output. It does not recognize the HDMI signal. I contacted Atomos Support and while very helpful, they are at a loss as to why the Ninja does not recognize the signal. I worked with them to try various camera HDMI output settings. I can even move the cable from the Ninja to my computer monitor and the signal is there. I get a clean HDMI video output to the monitor. I can also connect my Canon 5DIII to the Ninja with the same camera output settings and the Ninja works as it should. So I am wondering if there is something with the cameras firmware that is preventing the connection Ive seen YouTube videos of the A7III being used with other Atomos monitorrecorders and according to Atomos Support if it woks with the computer monitor it should work with the Ninja 2.I tried to find contact info for Sony to ask if they knew what the issues were. I am trying to determine if it is just the camera I received or if there is a valid technical reason why the camera wont connect with the devices. The Sony website is frustratingly circuitous and leads to nowhere. I also contacted BH Photography and Video Experts to see if they knew of the issue or at least could provide me with a way of getting in touch with a real person at Sony Customer SupportNo luck there either. So at this point lacking any useful support, Im probably going to return the camera. If I could at least determine whether my camera is malfunctioning, I could try different products to meet my needs for external devices. Thus even though the camera has some great attributes, I only give it 2stars primarily because of support.

This is a little on the expensive side coming in at a 2000 body. It is worth every penny. Coming from a Canon EOS Rebel 6 it is night and day compared to old Canon.Focus speed, Full Frame, stabilization, touch screen focus, auto viewfinder vs screen and more customization than you could ever use unless youre a full time professional photographer. This body should last a good decade if you take care. The only thing you would need to upgrade would be Lenses. the FE 2870mm it comes with is good, but could better, a great beginner lens.I would recommend the FE 24240 lens as a good all around lens that you can leave on for normal shots and distance.httpswww.bestbuy.comsitesonyfe24240mmf3563ossfullframeemounttelephotozoomlensblack4615017.pskuId4615017

If your a hybrid shooter you know the challenge of finding a rig that can play well in both areas. I shoot both wedding portrait photography and videography. I have used the A7sii, Gh5, GH5s, C100mkii, and now A7iii systems over the last few years and I have to say the iii was amazing. After shooting an 8 hour wedding film yesterday heres what I took awayThe autofocus on this system really is everything its claimed to be. I ran with both the Tamron 2875 and the Sony 70209 f2.8 all day. Where it came in clutch for me was when I needed to capture medium to wide angle gimbal shots. Knowing that it would keep the subjects face in focus was a game changer.I also got to shoot some stills with it and although this will likely be argued with I thinks as a stills camera, its easily at a cannon 1DS, or Nikon D5 level of technology. Say what you will, but I had this think wide open at f2.8 and could not even get a shot of a person out of focus. To some this level of autofocus technology may take away from the art form of photography. To me, it means I can focus more on pulling emotion from my clients and feel confident that I got the shot.

I purchased the last generation A7ii back in 2015 and loved the camera. Not because it was perfect but rather because I saw where it was going and its potential. Coming fronm the Canon 6D, everything was just smaller, the feature set was more robust, and I knew that mirrorless was the future of photography so I decided to become an early adopter. The biggest issues I had with the A7ii model was the slow autofocus speeds as compared to the A7Rii, the lack of continuous eye autofocus, and a single memory card slot. Sure, there were a few minor others, but nothing that I couldnt live with. Fast forward three years to the announcement of the A7iii Sony literally fixed EVERY problem I had with the a7ii…and then some.Is this a perfect camera No, that doesnt exist. Is it close to the perfect camera for me Yes, indeed I dont need the 42 megapixels of the A7Riii. I dont need the lowlight capabilities of the soontobereleased A7Siii. The A9 is a great camera but the benefits of the superior buffer speeds and frames per second just dont warrant the 4K price tag, for my use. The A7iii is the sweet spot between them allThe autofocus system was borrowed from the A9 and is super fast and reliable. It now has two memory card slots making event photography more of an option than in the previous generations. It now has continuous eye autofocus. Its like Sony was with me through every gripe and complaint of the A7ii. The price point is just right, the feature set beats all competitors in its class, and it makes shooting fun. With the addition of the previously missing feature sets, I can now spend more time taking photos and focusing in on composition and creativity. I love itNow, the bad. The electronic view finder EVF is a bit worse than the A7iis EVF. it was noticeable at first glance but not a deal breaker. The buffer wont clear as fast as the A9 making the silent shooting mode a moot point in LED lighting due to banding issues and the resolution is almost half of what is possible on the A7Riii. And…thats all Literally. I cannot find any other reason to give pause to purchasing this camera. So much so that I bought a second one as a backup for my event photography. With that said, why are you still here reading this Go buy the A7iii and get out there and start taking great photos. Happy shooting my friend

One of the best cameras Ive had over the years. Ive always been a video guy..using Panasonic cameras for years prior. Once I got more into photography, I started with this and has been a great camera. Aside from pictures…it takes great video. But tough to review this camera in so few words. Large sensor for lower light situations. What else can I say No issues with the build or design, buttons sticking, screen issues…zero problems.

This thing is a nightmare. Horrible red color artifacting in low light midtones even at low ISO. Footage basically unusable, certainly cant be used reliably for client work. Photos are also a struggle, Color grading is not easy by any means, skin is either yellow or has the same red splotches as the video footage. Ive tried contacting Sony support and no response for months. I used to use my canon almost daily, since switching to Sony Ive used this camera 5 times in 8 months. Mostly just to do more test footage to troubleshoot. I definitely would not recommend this to anyone. Yes theres a billion features that make it sound better on paper, but in actual use, not even close to my 5DIII. Ill take compressed 1080p over this unusable 4K any day. My IPhone takes better video and is more reliable. What a waste of money. Just a bunch of half baked features crammed into a tiny uncomfortable box with a worse display than the first ever smart phone.

Going fullframe to enjoy subject to primary benefits. Eye focus is nice. Tons of features to learn. Coming from A6000 this package feels heavy but its full frame, plain physics. Cant do much with it. I was surprised on occasions autofocus feel lagging, not sure if its trying to process face detection, eye detection etc. Battery life is excellent. I can get through whole day with one charge, 300400 rawjpg, even in 30F temperature. Wish itd build in flash though.

Bought this camera because I wanted to jump into mirrorless full frame and Sony seemed like the right choice. Coming as a previous Nikon user, there is a learning curve to this, particularly the buttons and menu system. This has an great auto focus and the eye AF is amazing. Also its nice to have an electronic view finder especially in those dark situations. Probably the biggest gripe I have is the ergonomics of carrying it in my my right hand. Since theres no place to put pinky finger I might just pick up a grip extension rather than those bulky battery grips. Overall this is a great camera choice.

This Sony is the perfect DSRL if you are trying to keep your camera portable and contained. It is quiet, clear, and produces incredible detail and color in the photos and videos. While the Sony G lenses are nice, they are pricey. I hope more manufacturers come out with less expensive quality emount lenses for this camera. I have no regrets about this purchase.

Ive shot Nikon and Fujifilm in the past. After not shooting for a couple of years I had not intended to even try Sony, given they dont have a big photographic history, but I found a great deal in a returned demo and for the cost I gave it a try. This camera is all its hyped to be and surprises me. Never saw this coming. I can see why its the best selling camera for the past few years.

Ive had the camera for just over a year and I can easily say its the best camera Ive ever owned. It takes great photos and has a lot of additional functionality, most of which I havent even begun to use.The kit lens is decent bearing in mind its just a kit lens, but you will want to buy at least another lens to get the full potential out of this camera. Its great, but is far from perfect. The battery life isnt great, especially with the screen on you will need to buy a battery grip or multiple extra batteries. The wifi transfer is handy, but can be a little temperamental. The main control ring moves a little to easily for my liking, as Ive accidentally changed the setting so many times. It doesnt have the most intuitive menu system controls. The low light performance is quite impressive. All round super solid camera.

Summary I have been a Canon user for 15 years and I was very hesitant to jump to the Sony A7 III for several reasons see below but none of them were a problem at the end and after a few weeks of usage I am definitely very happy with it.More detailsReason 1 Sony Menu System navigation. A lot of folks says the Sony system is hard to navigate, but after taking the time to look at it and understand it it is not this hard. Furthermore you can create your own customize menu with most used functions.Reason 2 Skin tone. I can see a difference with the Canon colors, but it is not bad. I think Sony has made a lot of improvements in the past few years and now it is at a very good level.Reason 3 Body size. Some people complain that the body is not comfortable to hold. I think it all depends on the hand size. but I have normal size hand for a 510 person and I do not have any problem holding itReason 4 Battery charger. A lot of reviews are slashing the a7 III because there is no battery charger included. I thought, yes maybe it can be a problem. Well … in fact it is great that I can charge the camera using either a micro USB or a USB C cable. Furthermore one can shoot while using a USB cable to recharge. So basically with a power bank you will never run out of juice. I happy that I do not have to carry another dedicated charger for just the camera. Last the battery last very long. I have been shooting an event and after the all evening shooting I was still at 50 charge. This being said I was not recording video.Overall I feel very happy with this camera and does not regret jumping from Canon to Sony.

I have never had a camera and decided it was time so I did a lot of research in a short amount of time. I was between this Sony A7III and the Sony A6400. At first it was the price difference that had me going for the A6400 but it was when I thought long and hard about what I want to do, I started leaning to the A7III. It had everything I wanted when I laid out the specs so instead of going back and forth, I just said Go big or go home. Now I know there are far superior cameras out there but that motto fit me in the moment while I was between which would be my first camera. Also Im the type of person that needs to get a solid, highly rated and professional piece of tech so that I have something that will meet my wants and needs for a while. I dont want to settle for something less fun or capable while I learn, only to go out a year later and pay more money for the better device. I need the best now. With all that said, this camera is perfectly balanced, comfortable to hold in portrait or landscape, clear and easy to use controls and the layout and interfaces makes learning fun I wanted a full frame sensor, 4K video, in body image stabilization, varying angle rear display, time lapse abilities built in and an abundance of ports. This has it all and then some. I like that theres USBC, two SD Card slots, mic input, headphone jack and a hot shoe. I really feel the possibilities are endless with this and I couldnt be happier with this purchase. I cant wait to learn and take stunning photos I love architecture and scenic landscapes as well as street photography so Im pumped to get this going

This is my first Sony camera, I previously shot on a Nikon D600. When I started shooting with the a7III I could not believe how much better my pictures were. I was prepared for some of the features that I had heard about, but when I started shooting with this camera everything changed. For example, I new about the evf, zebra stripes, and focus peaking for video work, but the interesting thing is that you can use these features for still photography. I use focus peaking and focus assist magnification to manually focus my lenses and it is easy and fun. A couple of nights ago it was a full moon so I went out in the backyard and captured some great pictures. There was not enough light for autofocus, so I manually focused the lens. Another Example is zebra stripes and the evf. I went for a walk in my neighborhood and I realized that I could use the exposure compensation dial to lower the exposure until all the zebra stripes were gone from the sky in the evf. For most of the photos I shot around 2 pm and 3 stops under exposed and then raised the exposure of the ground in post production. By shooting this way I was able to capture the real skies properly exposed. The pictures look amazing.

I ordered this camera for a commercial project and unfortunately there was a bit of mix up with my order and I was sent a used camera in error with some functional defects. In my experience, this happens from time to time even with really seasoned operations such as Adorama. So, I wasnt upset but anxious because I was under a time crunch. However, I was able to contact Adorama customer service over the phone on the same day I received the camera, explained the situation to the very helpful Yassy and we started the process of returning the camera for an exchange. It was quick and painless. Now, not to go into too many details but long story long, I was able to mail out the used camera back to Adorama and within three days my new camera was at my front door.Amazing customer service This is the way you turn a frown into a smile folks.I was able to complete my project on time and retain a great client.AS for the camera itself outstanding piece of kit. It performs as well if not better than most Full frame units. Very versatile camera for the price. And even the kit lens takes some amazing pics if you pay attention to your composition and control the light touching your subject or environment. Truly, this camera is an excellent addition to my paintbrush collection for creating some fine art. You live once SO, buy it and have fun. PEACE

This camera isnt perfect, but its very good at a lot of things. First, the sensor is just incredible. It produces detailed, extremely low noise, very colorful images. The AF system is pretty darn good too. I shot a softball tournament with the 70200GM and I have only a handful of images that arent in focus, mostly due to obstacles getting in the way as I was panning and the silly PreAF function that I turned off. Its at the very least on par with the tracking in my 7D II. Battery life is also impressive for a mirrorless camera. I shot 4 softball games and 1232 images on a single battery, so no complaints there. So whats not to like First of all, the menus have pages and pages of options which is a good thing, but many of the names dont make much sense. Youll definitely be using MY MENU to set up your most used functions, because finding them in the regular menu quickly is not going to happen. Olympus is infamous for terrible menus, and I much prefer the OMD EM1 II menu to the Sony.Ergonomically, Sony has come a long way in just a few years, but Ive found that the AFON button is too close to the viewfinder which doesnt protrude from the camera like on many DSLR models. Since Im a lefteye and backbutton focus shooter, this means that my nose and thumb are competing for the same space which takes some getting used to and some maneuvering to get comfortable with. Its definitely not quite as comfortable as shooting with my 7DII or OMD EM1 II body which is extremely close in size to the A7 III at least not with longerheavier lenses like the 70200 GM. The addition of the battery grip helps the ergonomics quite a bit in my opinion. Im also using this with the Metabones V adapter for Canon EF lenses. This adapter works well for static or slow moving subjects, but for tracking AF when shooting sports, youll have to use a native Sony lens for good performance. My final comment will be about a recommended setting to turn OFF. When I was shooting my first game, I noticed that the AF would seemingly randomly jump from where I had focused to another area of the photo even when my finger wasnt on the AF button, and I was getting shots with the wrong thing in focus. Theres a setting in the menu called Pre AF that will focus on the selected AF area even before you press the AFON or shutter button to focus. This is highly annoying if you focus and recompose any at all, or if youre a bit tired from a day of shooting and you let the AF point drift from your subject just a bit. I have a few images of a sharp background and blurry subject due to this feature causing the AF to move away from the intended subject.Overall this is a pretty compelling camera that performs very well once you set it up to your preferences and customize the buttons. The sensor is wonderful, the ergonomics are not quite perfect but a big step in the right direction, and the AF is extremely capable as well. My only warning is to not get caught up by the value of the body, since Sony lenses tend to be at the high end in terms of price and adapting lenses works well to a point… but will never perform as good as a native Emount lens.

For the past year, I have been working hard at both photography and videography using nothing but my iPhone. I felt as that I had pushed the little guy to his absolute limits and it was time for an upgrade. I opted for the A7III as I knew I wanted to go fullframe, the price was 6001000 lower than its nearest competitors, and the 3rd party glass from Tamron and Sigma make the sony ecosystem much cheaper for those just starting out. This camera has absolutely stunned me. It makes the photos I used to take with my phone tenfold easier and has allowed me to take photos that the iPhone never could. The lowlight performance is absolutely spectacular. For the mere aspect of documenting family occasions, personal stuff, etc. Ive been at 12800iso, f2.8, 1100 at night with great results. With a 1025 hit of noise reduction in lightroom, while the photos are still slightly grainy, they look absolutely fantastic for family photos. On a more professional basis whether client work or you want to print large I easily can push the camera to 3200iso with minimal image degradation. Ive had this camera paired with the sigma 2470 2.8, so of course, with a 1.8 or 1.4, you would have a 12 stop reduction in iso, delivering fantastic results. I highly recommend this camera. Even at its current age of 2 years old, competitors are now just catching up, but with much higher entrylevel prices.

The Sony A73 is well made camera that has a great deal of features and will give you great shots. However this is not a camera you can fall in love with. After using Leica, Olympuss and Fuji cameras and their lenses Ive became spoiled by the color science for these cameras. With this Sony You have to work extra hard in editing to create the magic a photo should have. If it wasnt for Best Buys 15 restocking fee I would have taken all the Sony equipment back. Both the Sony zoom kit lens and the 50 mm f1.8 standard lens are well made but give poor output. Steer clear.

Pros Eye AF is just incredible, the image quality and sharpness is very high.Great hybrid camera for both photography and videography.Customisation options in the menu allow it to suit you whatever you prefer.Cons The menu is huge Going to take a bit of getting used to after using Fuji. For a long time, but the my menu helps a lot. Im sure it will be worth the time investment though. The connection covers seem like them have break in time as they dont seem to fold out the way properly compared to other cameras, but Ive not heard anyone say they do, so maybe they will be more durable than I think.

As an amateur photographer, there is a lot to take in. The auto settings are great and the menu is fairly easy to navigate. Sony just gives a lot flexibility and wrapping your head around the settings can be tricky. But, at least they are there 4k video looks great and photos look stunning. Cant wait to improve with this camera

Ive been shooting for more than 12 years with Nikon and Canon cameras and I gotta tell you that this camera is a musthave for videographers and photographers. What really shines about this camera is the build quality, and high ISO low noise capability, not to mention the continuous focus it has that most cameras cant achieve. Gone with those days of blinding people with lights when shooting video. The best part is the price and feature for your money and the longlasting battery.I used the camera for the first time this weekend for a wedding mounted on a Ronins and the result was jawdropping quality in color and sharpness. Now for the negatives. No charger included even though it was originally planned for it to be included because if you read the manual it was part of the included parts with the camera. I guess Sony decided they want to profit even more, which was a bad decision. Every camera I ever bought in the past included a charger for the camera. But I wont take away a star because it doesnt affect the quality of the camera. BUT still, Im mad at Sony for getting greedy. They will hurt in the long run if they keep doing this. Another negative is the lens are hella expensive Thankfully there are lenses in the market that offers much less expensive alternatives. IF you are looking for highquality camera money can offer then your search is over.

Dont get me wrong, its an awesome camera. I am a professional who needs high level photo and video in the same camera and this didnt fit my needs in the video side. For people needing handheld video, the stabilizer system is simply not good enough compared to other cameras. A steadycam rig or gimbal is necessary, otherwise post processing is needed. This might be fine if my job didnt require using raw footage. Full frame cameras are typically poor at stabilizing but this is worse than other cameras.A side note on a small but very serious oversight by Sony When using the camera handheld with a mic plugged in, the mic cover dangles down and the sharp corner stabs your left hand. Theres no way to fix it without tape or using a rig.. which lowers the benefit of the mirrorless size advantage.

I purchased the A7M3 camera on 11292020 from BH along with a 24105mm f4 Sony G Lens. BH did a great job shipping it to me and packaging all equipment. Then, literally just as I am getting ready to purchase a Venus Laowa 100mm Macro lens and Godox Flash and remote trigger from BH, my 3 month old a7M3 gave me the dreaded Camera Error, turn off and turn on while I was shooting. I tried everything including taking out battery and resetting camera by holding shutter button for 30 sec recommended on Sony website all to no avail. Then took off my lens and saw that the shutter was stuck in the closed position So disappointed that a 3 month brand new camera already has issues. I didnt ever drop the camera or treat it roughly. Its been babied the whole time So frustrated that I have to send it back to Sony for repair and wont even have anything to shoot with the entire time.

At this point, I have had the A7iii for a couple months now and have clicked roughly 3000 images mainly of family, pets, and my 6 months old babygirl. I can honestly say that these are some of the best images I have ever clicked and that this camera has helped elevate my photography to a whole new level. I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeatA little background and more details…I had been a dedicated Canon user for 10 years with 70D APSC sensor for my last camera. Unfortunately that camera had front and back focusing issues even though I had microadjusted all my lenses to it. I was so used to clicking 34 extra images for those cantmiss moments just to be sure one of them was a keeper.Earlier this year, I decided to go fullframe and lucky for me, Sony had just announced the A7iii with features that were years ahead of anything CanonNikon had to offer at similar price point. After weeks of reading rave reviews from pros and amateurs alike, I pulled the trigger and ordered my A7iii along with the 2470GM lens. After 2 months of using Sony gear, I couldnt be happier with my move. Here are a few pros and cons that you may not find in other reviews.Pros Eye AF The hype is real The Eye AF works 90 of the time incredibly well and makes it super easy to take portraits. With it on, most pictures are so razorsharp that I can zoom into the eyes of the subject and find my own reflection. And thats not an exaggeration Excellent Lowlight capability On my Canon, I rarely pushed past 1000 ISO because of high noise in lowlight images. With A7iii, I havent purchased a flash yet so I am regularly forced to shoot in 10,000 12,500 range and the images still looking stunning after processing. Less time in postprocessing Compared to 70D, I find that less of my images need postprocessing now and the ones I do have to process take less time. File size At one point, I was seriously considering the A7Riii but now I am glad that I chose this camera. The 50MB files uncompressed RAW from this camera already make my 2014 Macbook Pro feel slightly sluggish. Cant imagine what 8090MB files from A7Riii would have done to my computer.Cons Sony software is worthless the RAW processing software installed 3 different apps a photo manager, an editor and a remote shooting app. I found the apps a pain to use so ended up uninstalling after the first week and purchased Capture One Pro. No builtin flash I personally miss having a builtin flash. In most lowlight situations, I could take out my 70D from the bag and start snapping in seconds. I dont own an external flash for A7iii but past experience tells me it will definitely take longer to get snapping when I have to attach an external flash. With all that said, I still rate this camera a solid 5 stars because of the incredible difference it has already made in my photos.

This camera is a three year old design. However, it is still reviewed highly and I decided to buy one. The included 2870mm lens is quite good in daylight, but I would not recommend it for lowlight shots. With a good lens the images are razor sharp and finely detailed. One of the best reasons to buy this camera is the large number of third party lenses that are available for it often at greatly reduced prices vs namebrand lenses.
SKramer –
Love this camera super clear pics from multiple lenses I have used with the body. Would recommend for both portraits and action shots. My only complaint is the wheel on the front of the camera that changes shooting modes. I keep accidentally flipping from sport mode to portrait mode in the middle of the game. Aggravating to miss a shot bc I have bumped the front dial.
Emat2000 –
To start off, I want to give this camera 5 stars based off performance but there are little quirks that keep from being so. The menu system is a little bit complicated to find small changes you want to make. Thankfully they have a function in the menu that allows you to customize the important features for quick customization, in addition to the customizable buttons the camera has. Mainly though, my biggest gripe is the lack of a full articulating screen on the back. I wish Sony would design the screens in mind for bloggers like canon does. Having it flip upside down isnt enough for those who use a microphone. The autofocus for facial recognition is fantastic so there is a work around. I want to give this a 4.5 but its not possible on this forum. The camera is a great bargain for the cost.

Initial unboxingAdorama sent me a huge box where the camera was safely packaged. The total packing was easy to unbox and everything came as expected.Camera accessoriesThe camera accessories such as the camera bag, SD card, extra battery, and pro optical cleaning kit are all very useful. The SD card is very fast at reading and copying high fps shoots. The one thing I would proabably recommend the most out of the accessories is the pro optical cleaning kit. I use the dust blower whenever I change lenses or need to clean the outside.Sony A7IIIThis camera is absolutely amazing. I came from using a Canon 77D and a M50. Changing from cropped senson to a full frame does wonders with the lenses. The color science for the sony may not be the same as Canons but overall its very hard to tell. Shooting at 120fps in 1080p is great as well side note IT HAS AUTOFOCUS unlike my previous Canons. This camera packs it all and definitely worth its price and more.

The A7iii is a fantastic camera. I mainly used the D500 but wanted something better for portraits. The IBIS is fantastic, being able to shoot at lower shutter speeds, handheld, and Im still getting crisp photos is amazing. Higher ISOs are very good as expected from a FF sensor.Human and animal eye auto focus is fantastic. Having moved from cameras that didnt have eye AF, it feels like Im cheating a little bit. Being able to focus on composition, and putting my trust into the camera to nail the autofocus on the eye is fantastic. Ive noticed than while using eye AF Im getting more keepers as well. Now 2 cons that i personally am not a fan of though not a deal breaker. Im not really a fan of the menus. Theirs tons of features, though finding many of those features are a little annoying, especially when changing some things on the fly during a shoot. I plan on configuring the camera to allow me to quickly change inbetween different camera profiles that I frequently may end up using by mapping different profiles to different camera mappable buttons, which will hopefully resolve some of the frustrations of the menu.Secondly, the lenses are pretty expensive. Im hoping to add an 85mm f1.8 opting for probably the budget Sony lens which is a little bit better price wise, instead of the f1.4.Overall, I do really love this camera, and I definitely plan on using it so much more, highly recommended.

Ive been looking for a full frame or even a medium format mirrorless camera for a while but didnt think the A7R2 was worth the 3200 especially given its battery issues and the wonky sony menu system. However once Sony announced the A7iii for 2000 I was onboard even with the Sony menu system. And I even have to admit the custom menus and customization options coupled with the extra dials for exposure compensation allow for operation without delving too deep into the menus and sub menus for each shot once everything is set up.I had owned a sony NEX5 previously so Im somewhat used to the Sony menus and even in some strange way liked the amunt of technical adjustments that one can dial into with Sony. However I was also enamored with the pure simplicity of say the Hasselblad 1XD and would have chosen that body over the A7Rii for just 1000 more. But once Sony announced the A7iii I was sold and ordered right away and havent looked back. I thought I would miss out on the resolution of the A7Rii as it has 42 or double the A7iii but for 99 of my pictures Im not needing to optically zooming in enough to warrant the huge files that an A7Rii or a medium format camera would generate. The only things that I would suggest with this A7iii body is that you will need either the sony grip attachment as the body is too small and doesnt have a grip spot for your pinky finger which may seem like a small thing indeed it is but without this frip extension its unwieldy to hold. sony of course charges an additional 120 for this very small grip extension but it is necessary.Im using a Zeiss 35 f 1.4 lens and although pricey I couldnt be happier with it. Eventually Id like to get a wider lens maybe the 1224 as well as a more tele photo probably the G master 85 f1.4

I am a beginning photographer and videographer who has owned the Sony a7iii for about one month. I found this camera to be fairly easy to familiarize myself with and it can take very clean pictures, even with the kit lens it comes with It has a lot of nice features for a variety of photography styles. I believe this camera is more than enough for most individuals wanting to start out or even intermediate to advanced individuals.

I have a couple of Canon 5D IVs and lenses for work. I purchased the Sony a7 III and some prime lenses for my personal work and play. Ive used the Sony at work for the last couple of weeks, shooting more than 3000 frames, so I can get comfortable with the system. On the assignments when I used both systems, I cant readily tell which camera shot which frame. The color and sharpness are virtually identical. I would feel very confident shooting with this Sony full time. I admit Ive made mistakes, such as accidentally changing the settings as Im shooting. Somehow, I was recording three nearly identical frames for each image I shot. I have gone from continuous shooting to singleframe at the worst times. And it took me a while to figure out the focusing system that best fits my style of shooting. At first, about half my pictures were out of focus. After three weeks, Im down to about 10 percent. I assume Ill get it down to about five percent, the same as with my Canon gear. Some of my favorite features are the custom buttons, the fn button and the silent mode. The Canon has a silent mode, but without a mirror, the Sony is totally silent. Its great for photographing selfconscious people. The Sony a7 III is a great camera for professionals and anyone who wants to invest in the U.S.s topselling fullframe camera.

Spectacular camera for photography and videography not good for long video sessions, as it can overheat and is limited to about 29min by Sony to prevent that from happeningBattery life is pretty good, Id recommend picking up at least one more battery.Definitely get your self some nice UHSII SD cards to fully take advantage of this camera and to make your workflow easier. If you have the money and feel like you will use this camera often, definitely buy it.If youre just getting into photography and are unsure, maybe look at some mft cameras.

I purchased this camera recently, and despite its having been out for several years, it proves to be an excellent hybridbudget Sony fullframe camera even still in 20202021. The Sony A7IV is rumored to come out in Summer of 2021, but if you need a good fullframe camera with great photo and video capabilities now, I highly recommend this especially if its on a budget. The only con with this camera to me is its a bit small in my hand as I have very big hands, and I like having a full grip. Additionally it doesnt have a flip out screen, but overall I still thoroughly love the camera.

The A7iii feels like a real camera, Coming from the A6000 Crop sensor, This is definetely a game changsr, While the A6000 paired with a 35mm 1.8 gave aome sharp results the A7iii has alot more features, The continues eye Auto Focus is a must if you want to get sharp portraits Never will i miss the perfect shot. Something that was very hard to achieve with the A6000. This is a must buy if yku want to get into serious photography, Loving this product, Cant beat sony with this great quality camera

I was ready to upgrade to a system that would provide me 4K video and was ready to purchase a Sony 7R iii for my next trip to Africa. My first trip, five years ago, with a Sony NEX6 really sold me on the benefits of a mirrorless system when traveling and I was really pleased with the HD video and the photos I got. In researching the 7R iii, I came across the information about the new 7 iii and came to the conclusion that it was a great value. My greatest concern was weight the full frame body and lenses are significantly heavier than the APSC systems. But I desired the better quality and went ahead with a purchase. Adorama were great to work with and I got my camera just a few days after the official release date.Already familiar with Sony, I found the 7 iii an easy upgrade and it worked well on my trip. I used a range of features, more than I have normally used in the past, and found that they made capturing great images easier than ever the camera was doing more of the work and I grew more confident in relying on it. I took along three 256GB cards and discovered I could click away at anything and everything without considering the cost in storage. I had been afraid earlier that 4K video would eat the cards alive but I was wrong I had plenty of room, coming home with one card I never used at all. Also, the battery life was such a great improvement and made life so much more relaxing than dealing with three batteries or more a day as I had to do with the NEX6.I took all RAW photos and have been very pleased with how I am able to manipulate them with the free Sony software since I have returned home. I am proud of my shots and very happy with this purchase. I am not a professional but a hobbyist who enjoys getting professional results. The only thing I can say on the con side is that I feet that I may have been able to get video that was somewhat more stable with the APSC system because the lighter weight made it easier to handle. However, I was also in lessstable environments this time. I have used Mercalli software to stabilize some of my clips since I returned home and have gotten very impressive results even on footage shot from an helicopter. Finally, I kept my NEX6, took it along, and used it in situations where I needed to travel lighter. It is still a good solution to that problem.

This camera takes amazing pictures I use it as a local reporter and love it. Having the flexs Uluru to use it as a video conference camera is great too. Saved me the trouble of having to buy a separate web cam and its much higher resolution. The biggest downfall I see with Sony cameras is the lenses appear to be more expensive than the other brands for the same speccd lens.

Ever since Ive got my A7 III, I find myself grabbing A7 III more often than my A7R III.For the most part, I think A7R IIIs resolution is absolute overkill and only needed for specific purposes. I also enjoy enhanced phase detection AF points on the A7 III, which now covers almost the entire frame for better composition.I also found that the autofocus IQ has also been slightly improved over the A7R III, as the A7 III will most often focus on the main subject instead of something else around the main subject when tested side by side with my A7R III.In terms of image quality, Sonys BSI 24MP sensor produces stunning highiso images with filmlike noise. Images at ISO 128000 is most definitely useable, compared to the competitors APSCmicro four thirds sized sensor camera at the same price, this is a huge advantage and most important feature set for me.4K video recording capability is another advantage of the A7 III that blows competitors away at the same price point. Featuring dedicated microphoneheadphone jack and loghybrid log profiles, they have now figured out the overheating issue plagued previous generation of Sony Alpha cameras. Long recording sessions do not trigger A7 III to go into automatic shutdown. The hugely improved battery life compared to previous generation of cameras also keeps my shooting time up without having to worry about changing battery eversooften. The EVFs 60fps frame rate is more than enough for composition, and the slightly lowered resolution compared to A7R IIIs EVF is not noticeable at all during actual use.If Im forced to nitpick on this otherwise fantastic cameraYes it only comes with a MicroUSB cable and a 1.5Amp USB Wall Adapter for charging instead of a dedicated charger and a USBC cable that came with the 3000 A7R III. So do spend 70 and buy a dedicated charger, and while at it, buy a spare battery too.The exterior camera body of A7 III is also now made with mostly plastic compared to metal on the A7R III, but its a understandable cost cutting measure and also is in no way going to affect the usability of the camera.SonyZeiss lenses also seem to cost more compared to other manufacturers offerings, but Im glad to see Sigma put out their fantastic Art series lenses in dedicated FE mount. That will sure ease up on the total cost of adapting Sonys mirrorless camera system.Im quite impressed with A7 III. At 2000 this is a camera thats really hard to beat in terms of performance and feature set.

I am just a beginner photographer, trying to film my own videos to work with. And I was heavily recommended to purchase the Sony a7iii due to its capabilities. Adorama always delivers, and I have never run into issues purchasing from them. The Sony a7iii is everything I was hoping to be and more. I am constantly learning the capabilities of this camera, and it is truly exciting. My background is in VFX and Animation, so I am always accustomed to working in front of the monitor with footage taken by other creatives. With this camera, I am allowed to do my own. Super excited Great quality, Adorama is trusted seller and super friendly staff Thank you

This camera is great 24 megapixels is more than enough and I also love the customizability of the buttons on the body. Low light performance is superb, I can comfortably push the ISO when I need to. Autofocus is quick and accurate, and eye autofocus works well too. My only complaint is that the grip is a bit too small and my pinky slips off sometimes.

Newish photographer, but bought the A7III as something I could grow into. Was debating DSLR vs Mirrorless, and really glad I went this route The body is compact and much easier to deal with than a dslr. I was worried that I wouldnt like the viewfinder on the mirrorless, but it has pleasantly surprised me really clear and provides a great representation of what Im shooting. The camera feels extremely well built, like it was machined out of a solid block of aluminum. Crazy fast shooting rate, and the pictures I have been able to take even with my limited experience have been really impressive. So many great features, I cant wait to learn and try them all. Was deciding between this and the Nikon Z6, the only thing I liked more on the Nikon was the bigger screen and better touch interface, along with a better viewfinder. But in the end I want to take better pictures, and for me the Sony clearly had the advantage there.

I took advantage of an open box deal and I am very happy with the decision to do so. The package seemed very close to brand new and the camera itself was flawless. As for this camera…wow Very easy to use. As my first real DSLR the layout of controls make learning a manual shot a breeze. I found Focus Peak via YouTube and this really helps focus in on your subject manually. The Auto Mode does work extremely well. Durring the first few days I had it I brought it to my kids soccer game and got some really great shots fully auto.

If youre still waiting for the A7sIII to come out, this is a great solution to your problem. This camera has wonderful low light capabilities and is a dream to work with when it comes to shooting real estate photography.RAW photos combined with 59 bracketed allows for wonderful HDR photography. For video purposes, Ive paired the Sony XLRK2M by connecting it via the MultiInterface Shoe Adapter allows me to capture 2 channels of audio and feeds directly off the battery.Lastly, Id have to say the biggest improvement with Sonys line of mirrorless cameras has to be the extended battery life…now Ive taken it a step further and added a 2nd battery using the Sony VGC3EM Vertical Grip. This gives me hours of usage for both 4K video and photography. All in all, its a great camera and Im glad I purchased it when I did. I found an excellent openbox deal down in Fort Lauderdale and saved 25 off MSRP.The lens Im using is the SONY 1635mm f4, I opted for the f4 over the f2.8 because I felt the reason Im purchasing this camera in the first place is for low light sensitivity, so I just push the ISO up a bit more and it works just fine. Thanks for reading.

There are many video reviews and setup instructions available on YouTube.alpha 7 III has many options to customize settings and features for personal requirements. I am very excited about learning to use the camera effectively. It is a little expensive, but I am convinced this will be the last mirrorless camera I purchase. This will save me money in the long run because I wont have to keep upgrading camera bodies.Sony provides many highquality lenses. Also, the SONY Remote Commander RMTP1BT is well worth the expense appx 78.00. The Bluetooth sync is very simple and eliminates the necessity of a receiver occupying the MultiInterface shoe on the camera and operates both shots and videos.

I recently bought the Nikon Z6 and fell in love with the build quality, but poor autofocus performance, limited native lens selection, subpar battery life and issues with the EVF It shows a brighter image than what the camera will actually capture, Jared Polin talks about this in his Real World Review of the Z7 caused me to return it. I picked up this kit as a replacement and I could not be happier The build quality feels great. The EVF and rear screen could be better, but I do not feel that they detract from this camera at all. Battery life is insane, I have been setting this camera up over the past few hours while taking about 200 test shots and I am currently at 99. In my opinion, the menu system is amazing, I feel that this menu system is better than the Z6 menusystem again, just my opinion. The autofocus system is literally INSANE, I cannot believe how fast and accurate it is, even in terrible light with a kit lens. I have pretty big hands, so I did need to buy the battery grip for this camera to be comfortable, but having the extra battery is going to be amazing. I have been shooting Canon primarily for the past 10 years and now I see why everyone is jumping ship and moving to Sony. I never thought I would love another camera enough to give up my 5D Mark IV, but this camera is a game changer. I cannot wait to see what Sony has in store for their future cameras and lenses. Dont hesitate, buy this camera, I promise you wont be disappointed.

I switched from a Sony A77ii to this camera with the Tamron 2875 and have zero regrets. Sony continues to innovate and really push what they offer in their cameras. It took me a bit to make the switch to emount, it was tough to walk away from the A mount as I had a nice collection of lenses. I only regret not having done it sooner. Sony really has a great package in this camera. So much so it is funny that this is an entry level for the EMount. This body and the compact Tamron makes for a great setup. I highly recommend this camera.

A little bit of a background first. I am an amateur photographer who does no video and has owned a FF Canon DSLR for the past 10 years and was looking for a replacement body. Before the purchase of the Sony A73, my stable of lenses includedCanon 70200 f2.8L nonISCanon 50mm f1.4Canon 24105mm f4.0 ISCanon Macro 100mm f2.8 II ISCanon 1740mm f4.0L USMI started by looking at the Canon DSLRs FF and then I heard about the release of the Sony A73. Researched it a bit. Also looked at possibly using either the Sigma MC11 or Metabones adaptor with my Canon lenses. Finally decided to place an order for the Sony camera kit.The camera and the kit lens arrived during the first batch of shipments from BH, about two weeks ago. I have been using the camera and have tested it with most of my Canon lenses in addition to the kit lens and the Sony 85mm f2.8 which I purchased recently it was on sale. The camera has been performing superbly. The images I have taken have come out nice and sharp love the viewfinderback screen. The capabilities of this camera easily exceed the abilities of this amateur photographer. The menu system could have been overwhelming, but I prepared well by watching many videos online while waiting for the camera to shiparrive describing the menu and helping with the most critical settings. When the camera arrived, it felt like I already knew it. After configuring the custom keys, the function key, and the personalized menu screens, the camera became very intuitive and easy to use. The back screen and the EVF have made taking pictures a lot easier. You look at either prior to taking the picture and you know what the image will be. Now all I have to do is get rid of the nasty habit of chimping after every image. A high class problem. I found the kit lens to be very sharp, specially during eye focus mode. I have read some folks not liking the kit lens, so maybe I got a good copy or they are better photographers than me. My other current Sony lens, the 85mm f2.8, is very, very nice. You just have to read the reviews for it to realize it is very good value for the money. The big question for me from the beginning was how well will this camera play with my Canon lenses. Part of my order included the Metabones V adaptor which arrived with the latest firmware already installed, v57. With the exception of the 1740 which I have not tested, all the lenses are working well with the camera. In the spirit of transparency, not all options are available in the Sony camera when using the Canon lenses, but I have yet to set up a shot thinking darn, I wish I could use this fill in the blank, but I cant because I am using a Canon lens. It should be noted that the Metabones can be used in two modes which are the Green Mode and the Advanced Mode. I say this because most of my Canons work better under the Green Mode with the exception of the 100mm Macro, which works better in Advanced Mode. Also, many sales reps including BH are unaware of the Metabones two modes. In conclusion, this camera has so far delivered on all the hype it has gotten since the announcement. It takes great images, the interface is very flexible and configurable, with a few limitations, the Canon lenses work well thanks to the Metabones adaptor. Hope you find this review useful.

Ive been using mirrorless cameras since 2011. Ive had a bunch of m43, several Canon M, a dozen of Fujis, and almost all Sonys, both APSC and FF. My last Sony was A7Rii. This camera is better than anything I had before. The image quality is excellent, the noise is very low, Sony finally got the metering and WB right, so even jpegs and default converted raws are usable without any additional editing. But, of course, if you do edit raw files and you should you can get absolutely stunning colors and tonality. The raw files are very clean and malleable easily taking strong editing. The sensor apparently has a onedirectional AA filter which half the strength of A9. The images are very sharp, but the moire sometimes is visible. I wish they would utilized the full AA filter like in A9. I dont understand the modern day craziness removing AA filters. Their impact on sharpness is minimal and easily countered by deconvolution sharpening, but moire is a lot bigger problem. The focusing is very good with Sony and Samyang lenses I have, in my estimation better than the other mirrorless cameras I had. My canon lenses on MC11 adapter work well too. Now, the flaws. The only thing that drives me nuts are the back buttons, in particular the joystick and the dpad. They tend to get pressed, get turned by accident all the time. When the camera is hanging by a neck strap or a shoulder strap every time one button or another would get pressed. You need to quickly shoot and you find out the ISO is screwed, or the focus point is nowhere to be found. Who was that idiot that decided to add the joystick The worst invention ever. The touch focus works great, joystick has the only purpose to accidentally screw the focus point. If I find a way to disable the joystick and the dpad I will be very happy.Another usability problem is the EVFLCD eye sensor. Especially in a bright day, the eye sensor is way too sensitive, so camera constantly switches to EVF. Using LCD in that situation is very frustrating. Those are the only negatives I found so far. I Sony in the next model gets rid of joystick and makes dpad recessed or do something to prevent accidental pressing and make eye sensor less sensitive they will make a perfect camera.

The camera can take on a lot of roles, whether you are doing a portrait shoot, photographing products or just taking pictures of your kids, the camera does it all with ease. Thanks to some highly customizable function buttons placed all over the camera. The menu system has been improved and the My Menu feature is god send. Once dialed in and setup, youll be able to access most settings you need during the shoot with a click of a button. The EVF is highly useable in bright sunlight where LCD is all washed out. I know the resolution is slightly less than my A7R3 but in real use side by side, I cannot tell a difference at all. Battery life is one of the best among mirrorless cameras and should last you almost a day of shooting, but do pack a spare just in case. Yes it doesnt come with dedicated charger but charging with included micro usb cable and ac adapter or get your own USB Type C cable is just as easy as taking the battery out to charge it. I found myself plug in the cable to charge more often than taking the battery out to charge using the charger that came with my a7r3. Its just that convenient. The AF is fantastic and able to find faces and eyes so easily that I dont have to worry about missed focus on the eye and just focusing on composition. The fact that AF covers almost the entire frame means I can place my subject at the edge of frame without worry about not be able to get a good focus on their eye. The noise control is amazing. Images are highly useable at ISO 125000 with film like grain. So is dynamic range, that I am able to pull out a lot of shadow detail and bring down highlights and still get a lot of detail in it. The only small complain, as with many mirrorless cameras, is that start up time is a bit slow compared to a DSLR so may have missed shots the first time you need to turn on the camera and shoot.

I photograph a lot of events which are often in dark venues. While I love my micro43 bodies and lenses, the images do get noisy above ISO 800. I can use higher ISOs with them but noise reduction reduces detail. The first time I used ISO 12,800 with this camera was was blown away by the quality. I decided to test the image against those taken with the micro43 cameras at ISO 12,800. I made sure to keep increasing the exposure compensation in those cameras until the pictures looked properly exposed in the viewfinders. They werent bad at all…so…why I have learned to appreciate this camera quite a bit in the fewI h days that Ive had it, I have a great appreciate for my micro43 equipment and it wont be relegated to a closet I bought a Sigma MC11 converter so I could use my Canon 70200 f4L on it, and it works very well. Since the Sony E mount full frame lenses are VERY expensive and few in number spoiled by whats available for micro43, I am very happy that I have a longer reach than I can get with the excellent Tamron 2875 I bought for this one. I bought a Vello screen protector which was very easy to apply and which didnt have any bubbles or dirt underneath it something Ive had trouble with on other camers with other screen protectors. After a few days, for some unknown reason the middle of the right edge has lifted a bit and theres a visible indication of that which I cant get rid of with all the pressing in the world. The is my first full frame camera, having had crop frame Canon dslrs and micro43 before. Getting used to the smaller reach e.g. 75mm is really 75mm and not 150mm as it would be on a micro43, is a BIG adjustment I have to learn to stand a lot closer The attached photo was taken at ISO 12,800 at the end of a gray day with window light. The ambient light was much darker than the photo indicates I made it light.

I currently own another brand of full frame DSLR, for topside use, and other brand of micro four thirds mirrorless, for underwater in a housing use. I needed to go for something a little bit more compact than a full sized DSLR, but with more megapixels and pro functionality than a small micro. The reviewers, and a bit of handson. swung me to the Sony A7iii.I am not disappointed, more gobsmacked, at the tech packed into such a superb camera. The kit lens is okay for general portrait and nottoowide angle landscapes. The picture quality is outstanding on both stills and 4k movie. There are multiple connection options for downloading and connectivity. Although pitched at pro level user, Auto, Program and Scene settings offer simplicity with quality for the newbies.I could go on for reams about how good the Sony A7iii is, and can say it will replace both of my others for land and sea.Pics added are first shots taken with standard settings, no filters,no enhancements.

Im an exNikon fullframe shooter D810 who switched to Sony when the A7Riii came out. I couldnt be happier with the RIII, but needed a backup so bought the A7iii when it came out, thinking it will play second fiddle. Was I wrong A7iii is the little brother who outruns the older brother a little too often. If you want to see where the A7Riii ranks amongst other full frames, do some research. You will find most experts put it above the venerable 5DMk4 and tied with the D850. Well, in many ways, the a7iii beats the a7riii. Focus coverage is better. If you like shooting wildlife or sports, the a7iiis focusing system is more closely related to the biggest brother a9, than the a7riii, and its the one you want. a7riii has amazing iso performance and dynamic range and blows its Canon counterparts out of the water, well the a7iii is better in this department too. File management with a7riii 43mp file 80mb uncompressed RAW can be difficult, and the 24mp on the a7iii hits the sweet spot for most photographers. It matches the a7riiis great 10fps burst rate, which according to most reviews is double to triple what Canons and Nikons new fullframe mirrorless can do in real world. Any camera deserving of the Pro label requires dual memory slots. Hard drives go bad, solid state drives go bad, xqd cards go bad, and yes, sd cards go bad. I have been using digital cameras now for about 18 year, and I have had card failures about 6 times. Some may say that doesnt seem frequent enough to be worrying about it. Imagine saying that to your grandparents, who asked you to shoot their 50th anniversary, and thats when the card error happens.. worse yet, imagine being responsible for someones wedding pictures. Well, unlike its Canon and Nikon mirrorless counterparts, the a7iii has you covered in this department too, so you can have instant backups of all your pictures. So, whats the catch Well, there is no perfect camera, and this one is no exception. The LCD screen on the a7riii is nothing to write home about, and the a7iii has it worse. The viewfinder on the a7riii is amazing, while on the a7iii, its kind of okay. Unlike its Canon counterpart, its LCD screen does flip towards the front of the camera only tilts up and down, so if you are looking for a camera for vlogging, look at Canon. Bottom line, the shortcomings of this camera are not related to the quality of pictures that you take with this camera. A so, so, LCD screen will not impact what people will see as your pictures.

Not a photographer. This is my first photography camera. Im in love Yes thought it was a little pricey. But I have no buyers remorse A lot to learn. Went to you tube and it those guys are a great help. Once you get used to the camera you will start to get great shots and never want to use your iPhone again lol. the lens is not the best but its ok. I invested in the Sony 24mm 1.4. But baby steps. You wont regret this camera. Good luck on your decision

Ever since I owned my first DSLR, a Canon 70D, I was into both photography and video. I dreamed of a camera that could do both perfectly, and while the 70D could tackle both, it lacked features. For example 120fps, 4k, and very importantly, a full frame sensor. At the time, a 1DX ii was the only camera capable of that. The issue with that however was the cost, the video format that was huge, and in 4k the camera would crop. I later moved to a two camera setup with a 6D for photography and an A7S ii for video. While these two cameras were very good at doing their jobs, it was a hassle carrying two cameras every time I traveled, and the lack of auto focus on the A7S ii made run and gun demotivating. As soon as the A7 iii blew up on YouTube, I knew it was the camera for me. I took the risk with selling my A7S ii and bought it. The only regret I have is not purchasing it sooner The auto focus is unbelievably quick, the video and photo quality is ultra crisp, and most importantly Its small and fits in my normal backpack. The dual SD card slots works well with my workflow where I can have the camera sort photos into one card, and videos into the second card. So I can go on a trip and take all of my photos and videos on one camera, and then when I reach the editing phase I dont have to be manually sorting everything on my computer. Overall I am extremely impressed with this camera, and if youre like me looking for the perfect hybrid videophoto camera, this is the one.

When I bought this camera, I was trying to decide between the Nikon Z6 ii and Canon EOS R6, however, this one is way better both for photography and video. It takes such clean images and does really well in low light situations. Even though this camera is a few years old, it still holds up with todays technology. The only part I struggled with is learning the menu system which is very cluttered with stuff you will most likely never use. However, after watching a few YouTube videos I was able to learn it.

I started out with the A72, but found it struggled to focus accurately. Not so with this A73 It also has some great features that I have come to appreciate 4K video, inbody image stabilization, multiple userassignable buttons, customizable instantaccess menu. The battery is great too. Give yourself time to learn where everything islike take a thousand pictures. The menu is huge.Im not an expert, nor am I a professional photographer, but with this camera I feel like I have to tools to attain both. For the price, I would highly recommend it.P.S. Lenses are expensive, so get used to spending money. I would also highly recommend getting a copy of Adobe Lightroom.

This thing BLEW my mind. Coming from a Nikon D7000, I was blown away with the technological advances weve reached in photography. I do not have any complaints about this camera. I was lucky to pick it up at a fairly decent discounted price during black Friday sales, and am very very happy. The kit lens is nothing special, but generally speaking, all kit lenses arent incredible anyways. I was impressed with the low light capabilities paired up with 1.8 prime lenses of this camera. Even at high ISO numbers, the files are incredible. Sony did a phenomenal job with this camera And please, shoot RAW people.

To get to the point, for 2000 this is an incredible camera. I do not have experience with other brands except a few clicks of friends cameras so I cant really compare. I can say though that having upgraded from a Sony a6300 crop sensor to the a7iii full frame I have zero regrets and no concerns over the price.I shoot mostly in natural light, sports, outdoor pursuits etc. Having so many custom button options gives the ability to set up the camera to your most common setting adjustments and make very quick changes to your exposure aperture, shutter speed, iso, focus mode, drive mode etc etc so you can adapt to changing situations and still get the shot you want.Focus points and focus modes on the a7iii are amazing allowing you to compose and focus exactly how you choose. Autofocus is fast and true and when shooting in manual focus you get excellent peaking assist and auto focus zoom when dialing in your focal point.Touch screen focus is great I mostly shoot using the viewfinder so only use touch when shooting from a tripod for landscape etc or when shooting video. Being able to set spot metering to your focal point allows for perfect focus and exposure on your subject when shooting in situations with extreme dynamic range. When shooting outdoor pursuits, sports etc you cant always get everything exposed correctly and have to sacrifice something.Overall, this camera has blown me away with its abilities. I still have my a6300 as a backup, but the a7iii will be my primary camera for a very long time to come.

This camera body is packed with features. It is such a great value and really has the specs to take you far into your photography endeavors.I love the mirrorless setup. The digital viewfinder is such a game changer for me. Being able to review images in the viewfinder is nice also when you are working under bright conditions.Ive had several different DSLR cameras and the Sony lineup of mirrorless is easily my favorite. Keep up the great work Sony

Buying a Sony mirrorless camera has been the best investment Ive ever made. I started with a Sony a6000, I took it everywhere. But when i was looking to finally upgrade I decided to wait and review everything single camera i could think of. After about a good 10 months of just researching i cam to the conclusion that the Sony a7iii was going to be the one for me. From the moment I got the camera in my hand i knew i was holding something special and that it was worth every penny. From the feel and weight of the camera to just lifting it to your face to take a shot. it is a great camera. I do not have any complaints about the camera, the battery is great, the display is easy to use and understand. If youre still essentially a beginner like i am, this camera will make you want to invest more in to your camera and lenses. Youll want the best to continually take better shot. This camera will immediately show you a difference in your new from old camera. Do not buy unless youre ready to go all in.

I love this camera I needed a second one, and I chose this because it came with the kit lens. My wife does not like using any of my prime lenses, and the kit lens is super lightweight and intuitive to use. She has no problem picking up the camera, throwing on her lens and capturing amazing photos. This is a great combo to buy because you save tons of money, and the kit lens does a great job for photo and video

Ive had the 7 iii for almost two weeks now. All I can say is if youre on the fence about upgrading to a fullframe mirrorless system, pull the trigger or push the shutter, haThe 7 iii body is lightweight, making it extremely portable and this little beast packs a punch of incredible features.I was hesitant about mirrorless technology and had been a faithful Nikon user for 10 years. Needless to say, I am beyond blown away by the 7 iiis image and build quality alike. Many complain about the charger situation, which yes, is irritating, but if forking over an additional 90 for a necessary accessory makes you that upset, perhaps look elsewhere. Unfortunately, you will miss out on some incredible technology.Maybe Nikons newly announced fullframe mirrorless camera will be equally fantastic, but Sony was one of the frontrunners and has now released three generations of fullframe models. My loyalty to Nikon wasnt strong enough to urge me to pay reportedly double the price of an 7 iii for a first generation model.I am sure some may disagree with my statements, but all photographers are unique in their own way and have their own personal preferences. This allows for a sea full of diverse creativesFor beginners and professionals alike, I highly recommend this camera system. If you have extra cash, take a look at the 7r iiibut do your research because several of the 7 iii features are altered andor forfeited for higher image resolution 24.2MP vs. 42.4MP. 24.2MP provides beautiful, crisp images with much smaller file sizes. Personally, I dont need to zoom into 6400 to see qualitybut like I said, some doFor me, this was less of a purchase and more of an investment, and boy am I satisfied. If you are still hesitant, stop by BH in NYC or you local camera store and try out the different models When you discover which model suites your needs, order it from BH because these guys are top notch.Happy shooting fellow photographers

I switched from Canon to Sony a year ago and was so pleased that Ive purchased a second Sony a7iii body. This camera goes everywhere with me. Its significantly smaller than Canon. I love the lowlight capabilities and feel comfortable bumping my ISO up to 6000 in lowlight. Dual slots are essential for me as a wedding photographer with a fear of losing photos. The timelapse capability is fun to play with. You can customize the buttons to have exactly what settings you want. You really can customize this camera to be the perfect setup for yourself. Everything about this camera is amazing and I tell everyone about it.

First, I already turned OFF the Silent mode and eFront Curtain but this strange colors look like rainbow to me keep appeared on my object my dark pants, hat and short not only in my room but outside too. I have researched this issue on Youtube and GG but turn the silent mode and eFront Curtain either both on or off does not work. I just bought this camera and very disappointed. I also change the DATETime to year 2037 and turn off and change it back on to 2019 and turn it off again but it still not work. I have checked my sensor, it is clean and I have not touch or damaged my sensor. I have used 2 different lens sony 35mm 1.8 and sony g master 85mm 1.4 and the results are the same so I suspected it is the cameras fault. The version I am using is Ver. 3.01. If you know how to fix it please help otherwise I have to return it.It takes good pictures with different object but apparently only dark color objects are having issues my camera is racist lol

But this works perfectly well in full auto modes too. You WILL need to read the manual online accept that this is a photography computer with Smartphone, Computer and even direct internet connectivity manual and fully automatic modes. So, if youre prepared to put in a little effort, even with the included kit zoom lens 28 to 70 mm you will be taking great photos as soon as you open the box and install an SD card. The resolution and sensitivity of this camera are a great combination and probably as good as you can get for the money currently. Fit one to preferably two fast SD cards the primary slot can work with the very fastest cards available today which you may need if shooting video at 4k or fullframe with low compression. Done some astrophotography and without much effort got very passable photos of the NEOWISE comet but this is also great for portraits and landscapes. Bought an adaptor to use older lenses I have from way back when these work just fine, though clearly only in manual mode no connection of aperture or focus. Im happy with the purchase.

Learned on a Canon film camera, and shot nothing but Canon for the last eight years. Picked up an A7III in July of 2019 after using an EOS R and A7III side by side. Its blown me away in the overall performance. My main body was a Canon 5DIII and this body was like night and day compared to my old DSLRs. Im a full time wedding and boudoir photographer so I literally make my living off of my cameras, and I couldnt be happier with this camera. I purchased a second one last month, and my wife bought her first in October. You really cant go wrong with it.

This is a spectacular camera. I am new to photography, but I wanted a camera to capture nearprofessional images and video of my two young children as they grow up. One child is two years old and very active, and taking pictures of her with an iphone is not easy. The accurate and speedy auto focus of the a7iii changes that. There is a learning curve to using the camera, as I imagine there is no matter what interchangeable lens camera you first use, but I have been impressed with how quick I have been able to get the hang of it and yield some impressive pictures. If I had to pick a gripe, the kit lens that comes with the camera is pretty limited in both max zoom distance and aperture size. However, that is nitpicking, and I have still been able to get some shots with nice bokeh. All in all, I am very pleased with the camera and I look forward to many years of captured memories.

I LOVE THIS CAMERA I cannot stop giving this camera enough praise. The image quality of both photo and video is just stunning, The incamera colors before editing are already remarkable. We are wedding videographers photographers and these cameras do so well in low light situations, we havent had any complaints with these cameras so far.We bought this one and less than a month later we got a second, if youre a filmmaker or event photographervideographer, and are looking to enhance your image quality without breaking the bank, it DOES NOT get better than this, unless you wanna splurge twice the money.

In the mirrorless dept. A7iii is got everything you require to capture 20MP full frame pictures. I have shot awesome telephoto shots, street photography, landscape and also shot moving subjects.Sony A7iii has got very fast and responsive auto focus with eye tracking.Hands Down this is the best goto beginner to pro mirrorless camera.

I believe this camera to be one of the best on the market in this price range except for one purposeful shystery thing which Sony did that Ill discuss later. I was able to learn how to use it in a matter of minutes because I have previously owned other Sony Alpha cameras. That was very much appreciated seeing as most manufacturers seem to randomly change the entire layout and functionality of their new models therefore enraging all of their loyal users who loved the previous layouts. This camera is amazing It performed better than every other camera Ive ever used. Those of you who are worried about Sony color science, fear no more With the introduction of the Sony A7iii all color science problems have been fixed in my opinion. This camera renders colors remarkably true to life 10 times better than the Sony A7Sii. As a previous Canon user, I can say that it is different than Cannon color, but I actually like it more in many ways. I have only used it on one photoshoot so far, but its performance was nothing less than spectacular It can take pictures as fast as a machine gun and the autofocus is miraculously awesome … I only have one huge gripe… WHY DOESNT IT COME WITH A CHARGER SONY, IF YOURE READING THIS I HOPE THAT YOU ARE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES…. NOT INCLUDING A CHARGER IS NOTHING SHORT OF CROOKED. I know that Sony is banking on people not reading the In The Box section clearly enough and saving some money. They are banking on people buying this camera with the knowledge that almost every camera on earth comes with a charger. It does come with a cable so that you can charge the battery while its in the camera… but come on It takes like 5 hours to charge. Who wants their camera to be down for 5 hours to while it charges What a shystery thing to do, Sony. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS 5 STARS IF IT CAME WITH A CHARGER. IF I AM GIVEN A CHARGER FREE OF CHARGE, I WILL UP THE RATING TO FIVE STARS. Absolutely shameful. Everything else was great.

Pros The packages Lens is a great starter for a varied range of shots to get started. If you register your camera on Sonys website they will send you regular emails to introduce you to the cameras features should you wish to explore them.Cons I do wish Sony would make their port covers more robust. Hinged covers with positive locks shouldnt be too hard to do for a camera at the price.

Sold all my Nikon gear to go mirrorless. Could not be happier. Amazing camera. Amazing quality of images and 4K video. The weight is so much less that my old Nikon D4s. After a shoot i would be exhausted. These feel like your working with a toy. But believe you me. These are anything but. This is a total work horse. Do your self a favor and buy 2 if you can.

I upgraded from a Nikon D700 as my main camera, plus a Sony alpha 6000 as my pocket camera, to the D700 plus a Sony a7m3, so I am not new to the Sony menu. I had ordered it with the Sony 24105 mm, but since that never came in I bought a Sony f 2.890 mm, and a SonyZeiss f 1.855 mm. The camera is probably too much for me. There are endless options which can be customized into astronomical possibilities. I settled on simple stuff, ISO, exposure time, aperture, ready to take advantage of the widely praised AF, but found that with both lenses, especially with spot focus, AF would rack end to end and end to end, and sharpen the background more frequently than a flower before it. DMF is equally problematic. I chalked it all up to my inexperience with the camera. When it does focus the images are amazingly sharp. The glass is excellent. What makes me think that I received a lemon is the screen. I realize it is a step down from the a 7R3, with which I am not familiar, but the screen never settles down as it does on my a 6000, constantly has lines running horizontally, a kind of nervous twitch, what ever the lens, focused or unfocused, and whatever the status of the battery. So it has to go back. I wanted to use it for an important photo shoot at the end of the month. Thank God for the D 700.

This camera is absolutely brilliant. The image quality is just astonishing. The autofocus in picture, as well as video mode, is actually surprising. You will, however, have to buy a separate battery charger, you can charge the battery in the camera, but it doesnt come with a standalone charger. I bought the following from Amazon httpswww.amazon.comgpproductB07HNK16TWrefppxyodtbasintitleo03s00ieUTF8psc1

I have upgraded Canon 80d and the difference is significant especially in low light photography. Full frame makes the difference and eye detection is a great feature that I dont have to worry about focus. One disadvantage for me moving from 80d is the screen on Sony is not touch for most of things and it is also not that kind of 360 degree movable. Just tilting up and down. I am using the camera with tamron 2870 2.8 that is working perfect and the price is not that high as sony gm with the same characteristics.

Really enjoyed using the camera. Purchased it as a beginner and havent had any issues w. becoming acclimated w. its functions. Also, bought it used open box excellent. From reading other reviews, I guess buying used is just a hit or miss. Personally, the camera looked and functioned as new, so didnt have any problems w. that. Overall, a great camera.

I had been a Nikon user since I was 13 or over 50 years so this move to Sony was both long in coming and difficult. In fact it was similar to my move to digital vs film which also took a while but I have never looked back. As I was moving from the D800 and D7200 cameras to the Sony I expected similar or better performance and usability. I have now had the camera for over 2 months and travel out of the country for 30 days having taken over 5000 pictures. The a7iii has not only met my expectations but exceeded them on so many levels that I am criticizing myself for not making the move earlier. I have fitted the camera with a 24105 f 4.0 lens and believe what it can do.To begin with the weight has dropped considerably from the D800 with a 2470 f2.8 lens so I am able to enjoy shooting more without the drag on my shoulder, arms and hand. I now go an entire day without the strain and pain I experienced before. You may question the move to a f 4.0 lens vs a 2.8 but I assure you with the spectacular high ISO performance of the Sony you do not need to worry. In fact with the D800 I hesitated to shoot above 1000 ISO and dreaded going above 3200. Now I have no hesitation in shooting up to 3200 and still love to results at 6000. In fact some interior shots made at 12,500 even were acceptable, maybe not for an enlargement, but for most other uses.In addition I find the vibration control on the Sony to be far superior to the Nikon and I now feel comfortable shooting as low as 115 sec handheld. In fact I have set my minimum shutter speed at 160 sec and get results as good as I got with the Nikon set at 1125 sec. Remember we have gone to a 105 mm lens from a 70 mm lensAuto focus is spot on and quicker than the Nikon and the eye recognition feature is beyond belief. I leave it on most of the time and it has let me not worry about focusing on the eye of my subject.I have not used it with a moving subject such as a bird in flight but I do not expect any issues.I have also found the dynamic range to be much better than on the Nikon and you dont fully appreciate it until you look through the viewfinder and understand what you are seeing. The display is very good and it renders my photos better than the Nikon did. When I brought my photos into LR I could not believe the color rendition before any post processing. That combined with the better dynamic range has made the post processing operation easier. The 24105 Sony lens is great because it has a reach beyond my 2470 Nikon which is helpful in some situations where you would like something extra. I have not been able to discern any major quality image results though I would expect the Nikon to perform slightly better. The question you need to ask yourself is how much better is the difference worth and will you actually be able to see the differenceThere are so many other things about this camera I love but my recommendation is just get it I know you will not be disappointed. One very important note is that the Sony manual is almost worthless and totally beyond comprehension. In fact the Nikon manual is at the other end of the ease of learning spectrum from the Sony but stick with it. After you get a basic understanding you will be able to figure things out yourself rather easily. Clearly Sony needs major help in writing user friendly manuals for there cameras as this is the constant complaint I hear in all of my readings online. You can also find some good guidance to setting up the camera and usage on youtube.

Sold my Nikon D750 for this camera. It beats that camera in many ways, but also has its cons. Nikons lowlight performance has been great since the D700 compared to Canon at that time, over the years that gap has narrowed. I have heard great things about Sonys A7S cameras ISO performance, and this A7III has exceeded my expectations. I shot some samples at night at ISO 16,000 and got very, very usable photos. You must try it for yourself. I also shoot video with the GH5, and this blows that away at every ISO and gives me the ability to shoot in darker situations that I would not dare with the GH5 without adding a light. The AF is definitely on another level. Face and Eye AF blow my Nikons away. The center lock on AF during video just crushes all the Nikons I have used and my GH5. Simply tap the touch screen on a subject and it locks on with accuracy. The images and video coming out of this camera are sharp, and because of the amazing accuracy of AF, you get much more usable photos and clips. I like the color science on the Nikons and Fuji more, but the Sony is not bad.I took 2 stars off my review because of a few things. First, like most negative reviewers, I didnt like that this 2k camera, as much as a value as it is, does not come with a dedicated charger. Remember, I am coming from Nikon, and even their entry level D3000 and D5000 series cameras come with one. I also own a GH5, it came with one. I own a Fuji XT2 for travel work, and it came with one. Not enough of a complaint for a 1 star review, but THIS A7III SHOULD COME WITH ONE.I took off another star off for a few minor things 1 there are weird stripes that appear on photos that are backlit. Some have called this striping. Hopefully there is a good fix for this soon. 2 the touch screen has limited functionality, you cannot tap menu optionssettings like on the GH5 3 The camera startup time is SLOW, and may cause missed moments at an event. 4 I get an awful looking flare almost looks like a lightleak when shooting with the Sony 55mm, backlit by the sun. So much for using this at golden hour 5 Its hard to see the spot focus box while shooting. 6 Coming from Nikon, I do not like that you have to remove the Sony battery door, and insert the grip into the battery compartment. Its a pain to go from using the grip to not using it on the Sony, and I anticipate losing that battery door at some point. On my Nikon and Fuji I can just attach it to the bottom without taking removing the door or battery.

Never got to use it as I took it back.Bought the camera to take to Tahiti contingent on waterhousing arriving from Hong Kong. However the housing arrived w the trigger lever snapped off. Massive bummer and returned the camera unused. Hope to buy one once I can source a more viable underwater housing supplier.Best Buy staff was very helpful understood my situation.

Great camera, really like its performance in low light in comparison to my previous cameras. It handles higher ISO well. Really havent found any part of this camera that I dont like. Highly recommend it if you are looking for a full frame camera.

My first full frame camera, moving from MFT. This is quite a revelation, incredible focus, ideal for most types of photography and incredible low light performance and dynamic range. As easy to use as you choose, could be a first time camera owner and begin with snapshots, albeit at an unbelievable quality, or for a professional photographer changing systems. It is fully customisable so I have configured the buttons and even the menu for options I find I use the most.To begin with, I have started with the 28mm F2, the 55mm 1.8, and next on the list is the 85mm 1.8. The growth of the full frame Sony lens line up as well as Sigma and Tamron getting on board is really excellent.Just a heads up, you cannot see the back screen when outside, but the viewfinder is excellent. While it is touch screen, the menu isnt. Personally, touch screen doesnt appeal to me, but the joystick they have is very useful when selecting focus. The continuous focus has to be seen to be believed and makes getting sharp images almost insultingly easy. The build is solid apart from the flappy doors on the side with the USB ports etc.Not yet tested the 4K video so I cant comment on that.

First time reviewer and an amateur photographer started when I received this camera. Primarily would like to be a portrait photographer and wanted to test out the many functions of the camera on an every day theme. I youtubed how to operate the camera and learned all of its functions going into this new hobby. I love this camera. Recently did a shoot with a group of family members for an hour and it turned out amazing. It was great that this camera went on sale too. 1010

What I likeEye AF is absolutely amazing. Finds the eye nearly anywhere in the frame and is very quick to focus and track. Huge benefitComing from a DSLR D750, the exposure preview of the EVF is super nice.BSI sensor is extremely good and works well at high isoVideo capabilities are greatWhat I do not likeRather small body pinky hangs offNot quite as weather sealed as comparable DSLRsMenu is terrible. Very confusing to customize buttons etc.Touch screen interface is nearly nonexistent.Despite its flaws, this is an amazing body and will produce amazing results if you take the time to learn how to operate it

Ive been a Canon shooter for numerous years I own The Canon 5D Mark II III And The 1 DX and of course a number of Canon L glass which includes the 85 f1.2, 2470 f2.8, 70200 MK II f2.8 IS, 1635 f4 are just of the many I own. I mostly shoot landscapes but I do shoot a few events and you can throw in a few local sporting outings. I bought the A7III in early November 2018 because Best Buy was offer an online open box deal so I pulled the trigger. I also purchased the Sony 2470 f2.8 GM, 1635 f4, and the 55 f1.8 to go with it. I then purchased a Sigma MC11 adapter to use with my Canon glass. I use the MC11 when Im doing landscapes but however I prefer to use native glass when Im shooting weddings and other paid events. The A7III is my main camera with my 1 DX as my back up. The low light focus is great so much better than the 1 DX and yes I know the 1 DX is 2011 technology. I left Canon for Sony and Im glad that Ive switched. Im deciding whether to buy the A9 or the A9II along with 70200 GM glass. I like the clean files that Sony produces on my monitor and its much cleaner than the Canon 5D Mark III. The menu system could use much improvement but however I took the time to customize the settings to my shooting style and that makes the menu issue a moot point for me.The Good1. Clean Files2. The Incredible Eye Focus is a game changer3. PriceThe Bad1. This Sony A7 III is not durable as my Canon or 5 series.2. Open sensor means its a dust magnet and yes its a pain to clean the sensor frequently. I hate changing lens in the field due to that fact. I wish Sony would listen and implement a cover that activate when youre changing lens because we all dont work in sterile environments such as a studio where you can keep dust to a minimal3. Frozen Shutter Curtain yep I had it to freeze up while I was shooting in the Catskills Mountains this summer. Thanks to Best Buy to their Geek Squad plan I was to able to get that issue repaired. I highly recommend that you purchase a protection plan because it will save you the headaches later down the road as it did for me.There you have it. Ill recommend the Sony A7III to anyone who enjoys photography but be prepared to clean that sensor frequently because it collects a good amount of dust. Sony I hope that youre listening please add sensor protection feature when the lens is off the camera

The goodAs full frame cameras go its a great price. Ive been very happy with the image quality and video capabilities. The battery life is significantly better than my A6500 crop sensor Sony. The build quality is also top notch. The OKYouve already probably heard about the terrible menu, terrible manual and lack of touch screen menu interaction. That actually doesnt bother me quite as much as it does other reviewers. There are tons of setup guides for it on Youtube and tons of customization with the hardware buttons and with the Fn menu. There are a few things I want to put on the Fn menu that I cant, but overall once its setup to your liking its pretty easy to operate. The BadNo flip out screen. I mean, cmon, thats been a staple of DSLRs for decades. Also, no charger in the box. If Im dropping 2 grand on a camera body, you could either go ahead and provide one or just raise the price by 5 or 10. I guarantee nobody will notice that as much as they notice having to plug the body in to charge. The worstSony really needs to get their act together with regards to software. Most camera companies turn out some pretty bad software but Sony really takes the cake here and in fact seems to be worse now than it was a couple years ago with my a6500. Transferring images to a mobile device is a hassle. Getting them to the computer relentlessly is a hassle. The NFC connection setup doesnt seem to work at all regardless if youre on Apple or Android. And this brings me to my final pointThis camera is not platform agnostic. It, at least as of this review works MUCH BETTER on Android. I cant even get the app to connect to the camera on my iphone XS with everything updated, and a few months ago when I could, getting it to do so was a pain and only sort of worked. On my Samsung Galaxy S 10 no problem. Connected and working like a charm.

I was sold on this camera upon its announcement. I did a ton of research before this camera came into my hands. Im still learning plenty about it still, but everything Im learning is about how to make an already amazing entrylevel product even better. I wanted to buy this as a replacement for my Canon for photography purposes, but I just cant see myself doing that still. Instead, this camera is allowing me to open myself up to the world of video a lot more. When it calls for it, I use this camera and it blows me a away at the dynamic range that it covers. highlight recovery is incredible, almost too good at low ISO, but tapers off a little more as you raise the ISO. It does what I want it to so well. I am a hybrid brand shooter now. Its hard not to believe in Sonys future at this point. Well see if Sony completely sells me next year or not. At this point, I still have much use for Canon, as I have all Canon glass and flashes and their AF system just works better in low light photography, which is my forte.

Im a professional video and still shooter who was a Nikon for more than 20 years, I switched to the Canon 5D mkii when it came out because it was better than the Nikons of the day. A few years ago I started using a Lumix for under the radar shoots. Then, Last September I needed a cheap 4k videostill camera for a Hurricane Irma shoot. So, I jumped on the Sony bandwagon. But this review is supposed to be about the a7iii.I got it because it can use the highend Glass I already own with a metabones adapter, its ability to capture low noise images and video at high ISOs, the reduction of stupidity compared to the a7Rii such as small battery and screen that is useless when shooting 4k outside, I shoot a lot of timelapses and the 42megapixel images are a resource hog when shooting long timelapses, the auto focus system would come in handy when shooting on a gimbal and when using native glass I got the kit lens to see if it actually worksIt does and finally I bought it because people says it makes nice images. The reality is it does make good clean moray free so far 4k but much of the stupidity still needs to be removed. High ISO performance is quite good and corporate video for the web can be shot at 3200 ISO if you need to go that high. The battery life is fine and the screen is bright enough to see even when shooting 4k so I dont need to connect the Shogun Inferno just to see the image. But there are still things that are stupid. 1 Sony still plays and hide and seek with the files captured. Stills are in one folder and video is a tier or 2 down in another named Private. This is utterly stupid and unnecessary. Canon, Nikon and Panasonic all have much better file systems. 2 Down here in Texas its hot for much of the year. After 40 minutes of shooting 4k outside in the shade on a 90 degree day it over heated and stopped. None of my non Sony cameras have ever stopped because of heat. The small body size doesnt just result in overheating. 3 It has the same 5 axis stabilization system as the GH5 but the body is too small to allow full movement of the system. So the GH5 is more stable than any of the latest generation Sonys though the a7iii is still darn steady. 4 To shoot timelapses your need to buy an external intervalometer. Sony discontinued its poorly designed timelapse app for which they charged an additional fee. This was smart. But it is stupid not include this function. Even a cheap LX100 includes great timelapse capability. Heres the real stupid partyou cant change exposure I the middle of a timelapse So, bulb ramping is not possible. This a show stopper for professional timelapses. Ive unplugged the intervalometer from the micro USB changed the exp and plugged it back in but it misses one shot in the sequence even when it shouldnt. No other company has this stupid limitation. 5 When shooting video, it wants to be in auto focus all the time. You must dig through the convoluted menu system and assign a button to toggle between auto and manual focus. 6 When switching between picture profiles not including slog, from time to time it sets the exposure about 3 stops over. Power cycling the camera fixes this one. 7 From timeto time pushing the shutter button does absolutely nothing. Taking out the battery fixes this. 8 The processor is slow, so youll frequently be waiting for the files to be written even with a fast 400MBs SD card. You may miss a shot because the camera its ready. 9 Cheap button feel not as toy like as the A6500 but not close to Nikon. 10 Micro HDMI port. Why not a more robust full size one like the GH5 11 The mic input is just below the little metal triangle that connects the camera strap. If this metal strap hits the metal conductor on the mini mic jack while the camera is on it can short out the camera Ive wrapped tape it. 12 You need spend another 88 on a Sony charger. The supplied USB internal charging system is slow. BTW this system cannon be used to power the camera all day from an outlet. Power from a charged battery is needed to run the camera. The battery will last longer than normal however.Other issues to be aware of as will all mirrorless camera the sensor gets dirty easily. I shoot outside a lot and Ive had to clean mine 3 times already.Am I returning it no. Its a cheapish camera that does many things well and it works with existing glass. If I were a kid starting out Id look real hard at the Nikon D850. Its not that much more expensive but its a real camera that shoots great stills and 4k video with very little to no stupidity. Nikon glass is better and often 100s of dollars cheaper than Sony Glass. Sony lenses look good, but in camera software does a lot of the work. Search photozone for reviews which show how poorly they perform without this software help. One expensive Sony lens had 4 stops of vignetting and over 3 distortion. Thats unacceptable for a that a few 100 dearer than a comparable canon or Nikon lens.

Pros For the price this is an amazing camera. I shoot video and stills and this is the perfect combo. Good range of lenses out there.Cons Would have liked a higher resolution view finder, just so I can judge the photo better. A flip out screen would help for lower and off angled shots. Kit lens is not the sharpest around the corner edges.
MikeyLikesIt –
While not the latest from Sony, the A7III hit all my checkboxes for a reasonably priced full frame Sony camera. Its low light capability alone is reason enough to get this camera. 24MP seems to be a nice sweet spot between resolution and file size. I particularly like the compact size vs. a typical DSLR. The 2870 lens is a decent lens, especially affordable as part of the kit sold with the body. I opted for open box and everything was perfect in the original box with full warranty. The savings essentially made the lens free, which is unbeatable without buying used. Best Buy shipped the camera quickly and ordering online was fast and easy. I hope to add additional lenses from Best Buy in the future, along with SD cards, spare battery, etc.

Let me rip the bandage off this review by saying the only true bad part of this purchase is the lack of battery charger, a usb C cable, or a mini hdmi to hdmi cable. BUT seeing as they state that such things arent included, I cant really be too upset. Although for a 2k price tag… it sure would have been niceFull disclosure my pursuit of digital photography is merely amateur. My previous camera being a Nikon 5100. Obviously making this jump makes me feel that this camera is nothing short of magical. With 35 pages in the menu full if lists and tweaks and setting there are few things this camera cant do. There is even a customisable menu screen for your Go To settings to which I have narrowed it down to a measly 3 pages of settings that i can adjust quickly in the field. But I digress. The kit lens is wonderful. Its not the fastest glass but it gives you a good feel for the cameras thorough and customisable autofocus system. With a cheap Amazon adapter, Ive attached a few Nikon lenes to the A7III and gotten great results. However, I had to physically prop open the lens aperture. But the pictures still look great.Im not about to start listing everything on the spec sheet because everything they say it can do, it does. With this kind of power in my hands I just feel like I can aim higher in what I set out to accomplish

After moving to Sony, i feel i have come to informatical age from stone age. Everything is so hustle free. Hardly I feel the necessity to move out of auto mode. It is so damn awesome. The eye AF mind blowing. Even at shallow depth of field it captures stunning details. Did check a lot of comparison videos between a7riii and a7Riii and a7riv and based on my research, this is best. Perhpas a9 has better advantage but you can buy more lens in that money than invest on that expensive body.

Let me just get this out of the way before getting into more detail. The a7III is a very generous and impressive upgrade over previous a7 iterations even before taking the price point into account. Everything on this camera is fast, from autofocus to processing. Its low light performance rivals and even beats out its more expensive sibling the a7RIII.What I loveSize and weight feel great.Lots of customization buttons and menu options14 bit RAW files provide a ridiculous amount of developing range.Fantastic low light performance even at higher ISO. Very small noise patterns compared to other cameras.Addition of new autofocus modes including flexible spot and expandable spot w coupled with the use of the multi selector joystick is a great pro additionNew BSI sensor delivers on range and color reproduction5 axis stabilization x,y on OSS lens x,y,z on the sensor itself is fast, reliable and helps w slower shutter speeds4k HLGSLOG3 video with multiple bandwidth options is great. Video looks very high quality.Dual card slots w the ability to control what type of media goes to which card etc ie photos to one slot, video to another , or shoot video proxies to one card and full video to another etcThings I dont loveThe body is magnesium alloy but there is still a lot more plastic than on the a9i really wish at least the shutterpower switch was metal superficial gripeNo more apps to install Remote software is builtin now howeverNo battery charger includedSony really needs to update their menu systems. At this is a must buy for pros and hobbyists alike. It will hands down outperform anything in its price point and even some cameras beyond that price point. The addition of some pro features only found on more expensive cameras shows that Sony means business and is ready to seriously compete w the likes of Canon and Nikon.

I have nothing but good things to say about this camera and regret not getting a Sony mirrorless camera years sooner, over the other brand I was so loyal to. I record mostly video and all the features and custom buttons that this camera provides makes life easier. The ergonomics are excellent, the buttons are easy to get to and feel very professional and firm. The ability to film in low or almost no light is second to none, even when bumping up your ISO, and without the need of using a video light. The pictures are just amazing and crisp using a f1.8 or so lens. The menu system is excellent and gives you the ability to customize to your hearts content. You can easily narrow down your favorite settings and features in so many different ways, that there is no excuse for you to complain.Through out the 90s I only used Sony video camcorders, VCRs and TVs and stereos. My Sony 8mm camcorder is 25 years old and it still works, the point is that this brand builds things to last. I am confident that this camera will continue to satisfy my needs as a videographer for years to come.

This is our 2nd Sony camera in the last 5 year. The first is still working, but we needed this one for behind the scenes. Great for taking pictures, too, which is what we use the previous model we own for. Highly recommend. Big fan. Make sure people who use this know what they are doing.

I am both a photographer and a videographer, so hybrid cameras that perform well at both tasks have always appealed to me. I started my hybrid camera journey with the Canon 70D and its classleading dual pixel autofocus. I also purchased a Canon 6D as my primary photography camera, and I have built up a decent collection of Canon lenses. Then along came the NX1 with even more impressive autofocus, higher framerates in photo 15 FPS and video 120 FPS, and wider dynamic range. Needless to say, the NX1 immediately became my primary video camera and the 70D became the B camera. However, I continued using my 6D as the primary photo camera since I prefer Canons color science and had more lens choices with Canon. I was aware of Sony mirrorless cameras during these years, but they did not offer significantly more value than my NX1. My biggest gripes with the NX1 were the lowlight performance, limited lens choices, and the fact that it is now a dead ecosystem.Fast forward to March 2018 when I first heard about the Sony A7III. Ive always wanted a fullframe mirrorless hybrid camera that performs well in virtually all shooting situations and the A7III met all of these requirements. The dynamic range, autofocus including eye autofocus, battery life, and low light performance exceeded my NX1, and the fact that it is part of a very active ecosystem with many lens choices and constant innovation was a big selling point . I am now ready to let go of my Canon 70D and possibly the NX1 and eventually pick up another A7III as a B camera so that Im not mixing and matching different video formats during editing. As for the cons1 The menu system is cumbersome to navigate and I suggest that you take some time to program the custom function buttons C1C4 as well as the quick access function menu with the features you use most often. Otherwise, you will waste a lot of time hunting for settings in the menu.2 The touchscreen can only be used for focusing. You cannot use it to navigate the menu or browse through photos.3 Sony lenses are more EXPENSIVE than their counterparts in other ecosystems. Fortunately, most of my Canon lenses work on the A7III with a Metabones adapter, so I dont plan to replace all of my Canon lenses with Sony equivalents.4 At this price point, I expected Sony to include a dedicated battery charger rather than expecting users to spend an additional 88 for the BCQZ1 charger. The fact that I have to use my camera to charge the battery via a USB power adapter is absolutely atrocious. I would rather be shooting while a spare battery is charging. Furthermore, the included microUSB charger cable forces the USB access cover to point downwards which makes it awkward to place the camera on a flat surface. I plan to purchase a USB 2.0 to USBC cable to resolve this problem.Overall, I am satisfied with this camera and I plan to keep it in my arsenal for several years.

I used the Sony A7Rii for several years and although I was happy with it, the battery life and autofocus was not perfect. I upgraded to the a7iii and am glad that I did. Yes, the A7iii has less megapixels than the a7rii but unless cropping small objects from large landscapes, that likely wont add value. What makes the a7iii a major winner is incredible autofocus, excellent battery life, USBC port faster video and photo downloads to computer, dual SD card sots and tolerance to overheating. There have been many complaints regarding the EVFLCD display not being high quality. I can confirm that had I not been reading forums, I wouldnt have noticed the difference between it and the a7rii that I had used for the past several years. It had a touch screen which I may or may not use but the joystick for selecting a focus point is a great feature Enhanced menu customization is a welcomed addition I have a custom menu that contains format card, MF to AF toggle, APSC to fullframe and a few others features that I frequently access. I do notice subtle differences in build quality between this camera and the a7rii i.e. no push button to lock the dial on the top, etc. but these differences are insignificant in my book. Im glad that I upgraded from the a7rii and am happy that I didnt spend more for the a7riii. This camera is exactly what I need at this point in time and not shooting the larger 42 megapixel stills will help to conserve disk spacecloud storage.

Ive been very pleased with this camera body for still work. It has excellent dynamic range and capacity to cope with low light situations. I havent had to go above ISO 4000 yet, but noise levels arent bad even there. Im reminded of the old TriX ISO 400 film. Many lenses, Sony and otherwise, in various grades of quality are available for this body. I chose Sigma rather than Sony kit lenses and have been impressed with the photographic results. The controls will take some getting used to for newbies or people who, like me, step up from a compact Sony model. The owners manual and online companion guide could be better, but together they provide just enough information to give owners a fighting chance. But Im rating the camera body here not the writers of the manual.

I purchased this with all the excitement in the world. Could not figure out why it kept missing focus. Took about 2 days to realize the auto focus was not working on it. So I returned and exchanged it with no issues in store. Only for a week and a half later, it happened again. Im sure it was a bad batch but I was refunded with no issues. I still have no bought another camera. Sony stuff is not on sale anymore, neither in canon.

Ive had a great run with my original A7 but have long felt that I could use certain AF, sensor and interface refinements once they fall within my price range. Thats what this A7iii is all about. My older Sonys demanded then rewarded the effort to familiarize and customize the interface this generation takes that to a new level. One could simply morph this camera to suit existing preferences, but I feel it is well worth taking a step back and rethinking old shooting habits to accommodate at least some of the new possibilities. After a month, I have still not settled on a final setup. I was at least able to do a productive shoot and enjoy some of the new refinements on day one. There are now more assignable buttons than I know what to do with. One good use for one or two of them might be to recall a Custom Shooting Set. This momentarily engages a group of focus, drive andor exposure settings of your choosing. I think of it as back button focusing on steroids, or really just back button for the 2020s. I cringe now to think of how much slower and more tedious it used to be to switch between shooting styles on my old NEX7.There are some smaller amenities that make this new camera a joy to work with. I particularly love the way the focus area can be set to change as I switch between landscape and portrait orientation. I find this to be an even bigger time saver than the Joystick which is also great to have Some might say these are bells whistles but I would sure hate to part with them. The menu layout gets panned by many reviewers but Ive made my peace with it. I recommend going through everything once and setting all the things youll never want to change. Then set up the My Menu section. In one full sweep you can toss in whatever you think you might want to access occasionally. There are 30 available spots, which should be plenty in conjunction with the assignable buttons and the 12 function menu slots. Its easy enough to add, move or delete items later.I would save my harshest criticism for the documentation. The basic manual seems redundant yet incomplete in all the wrong places. The online help guide is quite a bit more thorough and friendly to navigate. There are still some significant tidbits that youll have to glean from reviews or blogs. Like the way the camera focuses stopped down in AFC but opens up to f2 to focus in AFS.The new AF may trump most other considerations for many. I found it not to be infallible or foolproof, but my keeper rate certainly has gone up This is my first time really using continuous autofocus so Im still learning. In my Eye AF tests, when the subject moves toward the camera, I noticed the focus could sometimes lag for a frame or three. But then it would catch up, midburst. Try that in AFS I can see the justification for buying an A9 for those who need the best possible tracking. Ditto silent mode you will have to deploy it more sparingly with this base model. Thankfully the mechanical shutter is relatively quiet.Higher usable ISO has been on my wish list for a while and the A7iii certainly delivers there. For visible noise the new sensor appears to be roughly 1 23 stops better than the A7. For colors Id say about 2 stops for detail and shadow recovery without banding Id say even greater. This allows me to comfortably use higher 4digit and even 5digit ISO settings I used to avoid. I can now get a malleable RAW capture in conditions that used to be marginal. Not least of all, I can go handheld instead of using the tripod for certain webbound product shots. Out of all these new refinements, this has had the most benefit for me.I also love the great dynamic range at ISO 100. The uncompressed RAW captures feel extra buttery to process. My best unscientific assessment. If you specialize in landscapes or reportage, you may well want to pay extra for the A7riii or the A9. For my situation enthusiast, online vendor, 2000 budget, hooked on MILCs and FF, ready to expand low light try continuous AF this camera has no real competition.

As a novice photographer and videographer, I researched for quite a while before I settled on the Sony A7iii. For the price, the A7iii is unbeatable. Its a full frame camera with a mic input and headphone jack. It takes 4k video and for simple vlogging, it looks fantastic. Low light has been better than any other camera Ive worked with. I have used the Rebel series and the 6D for interior photography and this camera blows them both out of the water. The Rebel series isnt even in the same league. There is a learning curve to this camera so if its your first foray into photography give yourself some time. Its been incredible to learn with and I have lots of room to grow.I initially bought this camera to do video work but over the course of the pandemic found myself in need of newborn pictures when my second baby was born. Since we were in lockdown it wasnt possible to capture those first days and weeks of our new baby. I picked up my A7iii and after a bit of trial and error and having only shot home interiors, we walked away with some great pictures of our newest family member. Ive been able to get great holiday and milestone photos of our family.Because of this camera, I have found a love for photography and a desire to delve deep into it. Its a desire I didnt know I had.The kit lens is ok, there are better lenses but its a great lens to get started with if youre learning. I have since purchased a couple of primes and an offcamera flash though I did use the kit lens for over a year and still break it out every now and then.Looking back, I thought the price tag was a little high. As Ive learned more over the last couple of years, I would say this camera is absolutely worth the money given the quality of images, performance, and features.

Sony have really nailed mirrorless with this My choice was based upon what I dont do as in I dont need 20 FPS 24mpx pictures Sony a9 or have my laptop and drives full of super large files 70100mb each pic Sony a7r3. So I went for the a73. It is as fast as I need, more than sensitive enough and the AF tracking is superb. The price point is excellent for the quality of what you get. It is simple enough to use, just leave it in Auto and fire away. For the more experienced Tog, it has a wealth of features not to be missed. I now use my smartphone to control the camera with the Imaging Edge app from Sony. The app even has live view on the screen from the camera. The menus can be daunting of you are moving over from another brand. Dig deep, go with it it will be worth it. Maybe even consider using one of the many custom buttons to speed up and access your favourite settings. Im overwhelmed at how good this camera is. The images I now have are second to none. Update Since Sony gave us the eyeAF tracking in the last update, this is incredible for capturing images with lenses wide open. Animal eye AF is simply superb.

From 20142015, I had the luxury of using a used Sony RX1, which was the first time I used both a Sony camera as well as a full frame sensor. I was blown away coming from a Canon Rebel XS. But the RX1 sadly broke by the end of 2015 and was not covered by warranty. So I settled for the Sony a6000 and 3 prime lenses based on my budget. That was a great system no doubt given the much better autofocus, remote capabilities and interchangeable lens options. But it just was not the same as the RX1s full frame sensors dynamic range, lowlight performance, and shallower field of depth. Granted, I could have gone instead with the new original Sony a7 that 2015 year, but given the limited lens options and the anticipated shortcomings of a 1st generation fullframe camera body, I figured itd be better to wait till the technology matured and till I had a bigger budget. Then when then Sony a7iii came out, and with an infusion of cash from doing lots of portraits, I realized that the time to upgrade back to a full frame camera was much sooner than expectedThere are so many things I love about this camera inbody stabilization, wide dynamic range, an onswitch that doesnt come on accidentally nearly as easily as the Sony a6000, silent shutter for the candid photography Ive missed so much, fantastic auto focus, great battery life I could go on. Combined with a mature native lens lineup in which Ive saved up for 3 prime lens 28mm f2, 55mm f1.8, 85mm f1.8, its the most wholesome Ive ever felt as a growing photographer.

I love the versatility of this camera, and i love the quality of the images. Even in 2021 this camera is still worth buying, and is one of the best mirrorless hybrid cameras in the market. One negative is the size of the actual body, its too small, but you can buy an extension of the body and your that problem is solved. I highly recommend this camera to everyone.

Ive had it for a month and have shot about 700 photos and have been very happy with the results. The auto focus is great and the intelligence mode is very fast and responsive to all conditions. The camera to photo WiFi is kinda of confusing at first but once its set up with the app its simple. Im excited to start messing with different lens options further my knowledge of filming with it. Over all suggested.

I love this camera it fits my use cases perfectly event videography, real estate, interviews with a battery grip and a 24105mm lens I have been able to earn back the cost of this camera while providing high quality work to my clients. You might be thinking its 2021, why should I purchase a camera that was released in 2018It films 4k 30fps and 24fps with 1080p 120fps slow, this should fit most use cases for the amateur or hobbyist and even some professional work.I do plan on getting a A1 or a A7sIII or maybe even a A7IV if it ever does come out, but in the mean time Ill be using this beast of a camera.

Switching from Canon EOS 6D, the first thing I noticed is the dynamic range I updated to the firmware version 2.1.0 and my Canon EF 85mm f1.8 USM and Canon EF 135mm f2L USM performs flawlessly wide open with the Sigma MC11 adapter Even I can confirm that my Tamron SP 1530mm Di VC USD G1 lens performs and focuses perfectly with the Sigma adapter. Therefore, I dont have to buy native Sony lenses for now. However, given that the Tamron 2875mm f2.8 Di III RXD is so good, I added it to my set up and I am blown away by the quality I am gettingComing from one crosspoint autofocus and focus recompose technique, using the flexible point autofocus with joystick works amazingly for me. AFC is better than AFS. Eye AF is awesome and it performs very well in dark situations such as taking portraits in Christmas lights without using any flash And then during editing, shadows can be recovered really well But I found the auto white balance a little bit off from the real world when I took the picture. So it takes a while to adjust during postprocessing. Well, I shoot uncompressed RAW to have the freedom to make any adjustment, so I aint complaining.Of course, Canon EOS 6D is a goodold sensor and has old specs, it cannot be compared with the A7III. But for 2000, I cant justify getting even the EOS R was being sold for 1900 on eBay for a while when this camera performs so well with the Sigma MC11 adapter on the Canon lenses with IBIS I am confidently saying that Canon lenses are sharper on A7III than on Canon 6D. I calibrated and microadjusted all the lenses on 6D so they were sharp. But on A7III, they are sharperI am more inclined to travel and landscape photography, so I added extra battery and Lbracket. Amazingly enough, in this freezing winter, I didnt need second battery during 4 hours of outing And while the Lbracket helps as a tripod mount, it also guards the edges of the camera and provides support for the pinkie. It also protects the battery door from snow and water Therefore, I keep it on my camera all the time, except while changing the battery. The menu is broad compared to Canon. But I am okay with it. I customized the buttons watching the Youtube reviews and it is becoming muscle memory after every usage. After using Canon EOS 60D and 6D, I waited to switch to mirrorless. As Sony has progressed so far while Canon is catching up, I will keep using this awesome camera for the time being and expecting better techs from Canon. Third party lenses are so good nowadays that as a consumer, you cannot go wrong if you change systemsI took it out during heavy snowfall on Christmas night and it did not show any warning at all So I confirm its weatherresistance. I have added a picture here to say it all

Amazing Camera Auto Focus is amazing Love the Pet AF Detection feature for my dog. 4K video looks superb I mainly use this camera for video recordings and portraits. BATTERY LIFE IS AMAZING as compared to the A7II and A6100. This does have a more in depth menu selection so it can be a bit overwhelming as first. Also, with a USBC port, its convenient to charge it with that port since all of my gadgets have USBC as well. It doesnt feel to bulky, since I also used to own a Canon 80D, that canon has a bigger body so traveling with the A7III is a nice change. It does amazing in low light photography as well When I have the ISO set to 10,000, there is rarely any grain to where I dont lose any picture quality. This helps out knowing that if I lack lighting in certain areas, the camera can still perform very well. When editing the raw images in Lightroom, there has been multiple times where my pictures are under and over exposed and correcting it makes it a breeze due to the megapixels and capabilities of the camera.Im trying to up my photography a bit, and its nice knowing that with this camera Im essentially future proofing it due to its amazing features, build quality, and reliability. I have paired this camera with a Tamron 2875 2.8f and Zeis 55 1.8f and thats all I need for portraits and videos. If anything I would get a more Wide Angle lens if I want wider shots but for the time being, itll be more than enough.

Let me start out with this. This Camera will do the job in 9 out of 10 cases.I would have easily rated this camera at 5 stars. But sadly the weather sealing on this camera is almost laughable I have heard horror stories sense my purchase about a single drop of water destroying the entire camera. Now with that said if you do not plan to use this ever in damp or in rain without protection then you will 100 love this camera. If you do plan on using this camera in Damp or in the rain snow I would highly recommend looking for something with a better weather sealing. i.e Sony a7r iv.The AF on this camera is fantastic I love it.The Kit lens that comes with it the FE 2870 F3.55.6 is amazing sharp lens and can produce wonderful shots. The video options are fantastic and you can have some wonderful slowmotion shots if you decide to go that route. The picture quality is really good for the MP size the camera is fast and can do the vast majority of anything that you would plan on doing.I highly recommend this Camera especially if you have experience with camera. But if you are a complete beginner you will do fine as well, the Auto mode on this camera is wonderful.Honestly I love this camera so much, I just wish the weather sealing was slightly better.

I am a postCanon user. Canon 6D Sony A7ii Sony A7iii.Pros Its smaller than any full frame CanonNikon. Sure, its just as long as any CanonNikon if you attach a lens. However, the height and width is smaller making it much easier to fit into my bag. The best camera is the one you have with you. This is definitely better than a smartphone camera. This is the primary reason I switched judge me if you like. Eyetracking AF is changing the way I shoot. Up to the A7ii, I used center point focus and recomposed. I was initially skeptical about eyeaf. However, being able to nail focus without recomposing increases my keeper rate noticeably. But this is something that you dont realize you need until you have it. Auto focus with Canon lenses is about 98 of what I used to get with my Canon 6D mk1 center point. Although not strictly scientific, I feel that I can shoot in equally dim locations as with my 6d but the focus is ever so slightly slower than my 6d. The Sony A7iii is leaps and bounds faster than the A7ii. I am sure AF would be much faster using native Sony lenses. fyi, I use a Sigma MC11 adapter with Tamron 2470 G2, Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art, Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art Canon 85mm 1.8 10fps is amazing. Its something you dont realize until you are able to capture that split second moment when everything in the action shot is perfect. Battery I add this because everyone makes such a huge deal about this. With my A7ii, I had three batteries. I shot a few family events and a concert. I never felt that switching batteries was as TERRIBLE as everyone says it is. It takes 3 seconds. Having said this, it is nice to be able to go a whole event without changing batteries. External Battery Use Yes, you can use an external battery bank connected to the USBC port while shooting. I have never needed to do so, but if you need to shoot nonstop for a REALLY long time.. it will work.Cons Even after 1 year of selling off my Canon 6D, I miss the color science slightly warm of Canon. Sony and Nikon have a relatively cold tint to the images that I find unnatural. Ofcourse, this can be changed in lightroom. I also feel like the Sony images are more grainynoisy. Although, I admit this may be because the Sony has more actual detail. I guess Im a Canon snob atleast for image quality there is more to an image than dynamic range. So disappointing they got rid of the Apps. Am I the only one who thought the apps were useful I liked the time lapse and touchless trigger apps.

So I thought I was going to love this camera because so many people said good things about it. Previously I was using a Canon 6D and Im a professional family photographer, so I was very excited about how this camera was supposed to be super sharp and have amazing auto focus capabilities, plus it was supposed to do great in low light and have a high dynamic range. Well, only the last thing was true. I found my photos to be incredibly noisy, and I was properly exposed and only at ISO 800. Thats ridiculous. I also was surprised to find that the focus wasnt very sharp at all, lots of the photos had missed focus. I was using the Eye AF feature and did a tester family session, and I had purchased a Sony Zeiss lens because I figured Id get the best images and most accurate focus with a native lens. Well, I ended up disappointed and returned everything. Also, the colors of Sony are muddy and yucky, so I went back to Canon.

Unbelievable camera, sold as a consumer camera but it feels and all the extras makes this a professional camera. One negative, is they should let photographers decide on the menu and not the engineers. Lots of great features hidden in the menus sub folders. It takes time to find them. photographers that are in the field or studio should decide the menu system not the engineers as mentioned earlier in the review. personally, I stay with Sony lenses and found out that the Sony external flash is the best The buffer fills quickly wish I had a larger buffer not to slow the shooting. the double slot memory card is a great especially when using video for slot 2 and stills for slot 1. I prefer shooting in RAW JPEG, so I set my slot 1 for raw and Slot 2 for JPEG. I find it very easy in post. I love the minimum ISO 50 as high as 204800. Depending on shutter speed and exposure levels, you can shoot comfortable at a high iso by making adjustments in exposure. I shoot a lot in Aperture Mode, shutter Mode and Manual. the Sony sensor is the best in my opinion in the industry. They make the sensors for most other manufacturers. Sony is considered as the 1 in the mirrorless camera market with an outstanding sensor. I give the Sony a7iii 5 stars and is my go to camera beating out the completion by a long shot. All though sony was quiet for many years having Canon and Nikon as the premier camera companies, Sony, by far has won the race for mirrorless cameras and lenses. So, if you want a work horse, the Sony a7iii is the best bet.

Amazing A fantastic CameraI had been out of the photography game for over 25 years. Then I went on vacation to Alaska back in July, taking along my daughters Canon Rebel XS. I was so disappointed in its performance. Upon my return, I immediately started searching for a new camera to get back into amateur photography. All of the prices were higher than I had expected. I looked at Canons R RP and Nikons Z6 Z7. I hadnt even considered a Sony camera. So after quite a few weeks and lots of hours on Youtube channels, I decided on a Sony. But, I hadnt decided between getting the A7R lll or the A7 lll. I liked the idea of the A7R llls higher 42 Mp and better Screen and EV, but the A7 llls low light capabilities and wider 93 focus coverage was very appealing. So after even more Youtube scouring and website reviews, I decided on the A7 lll, and couldt be happier Although the menu system is a bit overwhelming at first, it is absolutely necessary for the powerful flexibility and customization of a camera of this quality. I decided to get Sonys 24105 Zoom lens, instead of the kit lens combo. Another excellent choice. Absolutely sharp images Im still learning some things I imagine Ill be learning new things for quite a long time by subscribing to various Youtube A7III and Sony channels. The picture quality and Eye AF are amazing Buy this camera. You wont regret it These were my first purchases ever with Adorama. Im a very satisfied customer.

I love this camera It has everything I need. I own two of them now because I needed two bodies for work. I went back and forth on deciding between this and the a7riii, and ultimately decided the 24 mp was enough for what I and my clients need. I shoot photos and films, and really appreciate the fact that its so easy to switch between the two. The focusing is amazing, and I always get such great, professional results from it. You seriously can or go wrong with this camera

This camera amazing and totally worth the cost. If you are no longer a beginner photographer and looking to level up your game, then definitely get this camera. The fact that aperture, ISO, and shutter speed are at your fingertips with the included dials along with whatever amazing software that tracks focus easily are all included makes this the camera to get. I also use this for streaming on twitch and the clarity of my face gets noticed more than the content in streamingI would only day that you should watch a YouTube video that goes through the instructions so you can get started quickly. I am still figuring out a lot of the options even after that but it gave me a good baseline to start with.

This camera is phenomenal but it does have some quirks that keep it from being perfect. Most issues are ergonomics, for one, the menu button is on the left. I tend to hold the camera mostly in my right but have to always bring my left hand up to hit menu so I can go to the favorites menu. Also, the microphone input is butted up next to the camera strap. That port is going to break with a strap attached to the camera. As for functions inside the camera, I wish all these new mirroless cameras came with a waveform. Also, I wish the remote control app had the ability to touch focus and had a slider like DJI app to control focus inside the app, this way the camera could be operated remoted. As for the lens, my biggest gripe is the fact that it isnt its most compact at 28mm. At 28mm it pokes out just a little then slides in when zooming to 35 then back out to 70mm. Its a little quirk but I wish it was like other zooms. Also, I dont know if this is a lens thing or a camera thing, but I wish I could move the foucs ring in AFC and make adjustments. On my older Sony ProCamcorder, I would rack focus to outoffocus in 60p and let the AF pull back in for a nice effect.Other than these small things, the camera os really cool and a great buy.

Best camera I have used. I cam from a Nikon 3200 to this for work. I didnt really need all the extra stuff but it was cheap. The menu is insane compared to the old Nikon. the clarity of the Sony is top notch and the Eye AF has to be the best. I shoot events among other things and this is my new workhorse. I was looking at the Nikon Z6 and the Z6ii but their prices of lenses are insane and Sonys prices are a lot more reasonable.

I love it, but it has a difficult learning curve, and I have had no luck with GPSSmartphone linkup. Perhaps its because I use it in remote locations and the signal can be poor. Wonderfully built and beautiful images when used with my Sony 2470mm f2.8 GM LENS.Biggest flaw is innate to the mirrorless format, and that is that it must be blown out continually to keep the image processor free of dust. I replaced the first body because right out of the box it had dust marks all over the images. The second was great out of the box but quickly gathered microscopic dust that shows up as what look like water droplets on the images. I thought if I left the lens I only have one lens so far on all the time it would stay clean but not the case. Appears to clean fine with a blower designed for the task only, but I havent had much luck with the cleaning function in the camera which must be used manually when necessary, as opposed to Canon which cleans. every time you turn the camera on or off.Net net, I love the camera and the images, but block out a lot of time to get use to the menus, etc.

I upgraded to the A7iii from the A7ii which I had used for over a year. The main noticeable upgrades are much better autofocus system. Eye AF works very well and I have noticed a much higher percentage of in focus shots. 10fps bursts make capturing action shots a breeze. Image quality and dynamic range is excellent. Video quality is great, 4K is very sharp. 1080p 120 FPS allows for nice slow motion. Only gripes are lower quality back screenresolution. Controls on the camera are much improved over A7ii, the toggle joystick that allows you to pick autofocus points is very useful. Battery life is incredible and a huge improvement over the A7ii.

I bought the Sony Alpha A7 III after doing a lot of research. I wanted a fullframe mirrorless camera but I wasnt yet prepared to invest in an a7R or the newer A7C. When I found a deal on a competitors website and BestBuy matched the price, I knew I had to take the leap. For someone with basic knowledge of photography, the A7 III has been easy to use and very accessible. At the same time, it rewards learning and practice. I have been so impressed with the quality of the pictures that have come out of the camera, and Im excited to experiment with videos soon. The camera isnt nearly as big as I thought it would be. Its almost dwarfed by the massive Sigma 2470mm lens that I bought to go with it. Overall, if you are a novice or beginner photographer, the A7 III is still a great choice.
Jaff –
This is a great camera but there are so many more things I wanted that this just could not deliver. First, this camera has a poor heating solution and will decide it doesnt want to continue shooting just after an hour and 30 mins, and thats with the setting on high tolerance, and not even on a hot day so youd be lucky to get just about a full hour… Then theres the lack of front facing display, poor io port placement and bay door design, and to top it all off the grip gets super uncomfortable. I recommend the a7c because it has fixed all, but if you want more customization, a7sIII is the better choice for higher heat threshold and overall longevity.

I am a total novice and researched purchasing a full frame mirrorless for a while. Was looking at the 6400 and after reviewing hours of YouTube reviews and learning the menu system, I am very happy to have gone this route. The low light ability is really good, much improved with other lens options besides the kit lens.I have a couple of friends who are very serious boudoir photographers and they all have been impressed with this camera as well.Am still learning what it can do and the flexibility is amazing with the menu systems and the extra custom buttons.Even for a beginner like me, I think this is one camera that will last a very long time and the pictures are stunning.

All I ever shot with is the Sony system. I love the mirrorless as it is smaller and lighter, Sony is so motivated on the technology. I originally bought it as a back up for my a7 m2, and still use it, as now I dont have to change lenses as frequently, while i clen sensor on a7 m2. Both are superbly great cameras. I cant see an image quality difference between the two on my MacPro 15, yet. I shot an early morning first light on a lake and foreground with the a7 m3, i closed it down a full stop as not to wash out the distant peaks. The foreground was black, in uncompressed raw. LRcc easily pulled the a7 m3 foreground to where it was the correct exposure. In a few nights it am shooting multi row panos of this lake reflection and Milky Way. I cant wait Even at 3200 iso, a multi row pano with the m2 has very minimul noise, so i am so anxious to use the new m3. Focus peaking is intense on the m3, more pronounced than the m2. The EVF is sharperbrighter than the m2. I put it to 2 brightness and it was too much, so i put it back to the middle. The dials for exposure and f stop are more pronounced, the click is firm, nicer than the m2. The shutter release button does not feel mushy like the m2. The shutter front curtain feels softer, like it is buffered, very nice. I shot several muti row landscape panos and several single shots, and the larger battery was down maybe mid 80 to upper 80 pct. The m2 would be to the point I might put in another battery. Not used the m3 much yet, but so far, if you are thinking of buying it, why wait If you are a Sony shooter, looking to upgrade, and dont feel the need for the higher res a7r3, this camera is great. You can buy an after market battery and charger for around 40 total, so dont listen to the people that complain. All Sonys come without these any way. For the price of this camera, the no charger is a non issue. The crystal clear EFV, helps me knowing i am in focus for landscape i really dont need Focus Peaking, but night, at low f stops, this pronounced peaking and bright EFV, should be sweet. I can concentrate on my composition better too. For a 24MP FE, this one is amazing. If you shoot multi row panos, the images will be very satisfying. The menu has changed some. But if you are a Sony fan, after an hour, you will get to like it, and maybe more, as you pull down on a menu sets, you can thumb thru every option wo going to the top every time. It is all about the weight, and the low light high ISO for me. Check at DXOmark and compare if you are a night shooter. I want to shoot star trails in the near future, the larger battery will be better to have wo a battery grip, to keep the system small and at an optimum light weight .At image resource the m3 will produce excellent prints 30×40 in ,at 50800 iso, the m2 is rated at 50100 iso for these enlargements. Also the lens mount is allot firmer, tighter, 6 screws vs 4 screws, also, solid. Gary E.

Ive been using Nikon SLRs and DSLRs since 1976. I photograph sports and theater performances as well as family, friends, and travel shots. Most recently Ive been shooting with a Nikon 610 fullframe camera. Early reviews said that the 2000 Sony A7 III was not only as good as the Nikon cameras in the same price range but in many ways even better. The A7 III was compared to the 3000 Nikon models. For the money, the Sony A7 III is a great camera and is comparable to the more expensive Nikon DSLRs.The pictures from the A7 III that I saw online were generally of very good quality and the camera really was outstanding in difficult lighting conditions. Since shooting in the theater usually provided difficult lighting conditions, I was intrigued. Now that Ive used the A7 III for a few weeks I can see what all the fuss is about. The lowlight behavior was fantastic The noise level at ISO 6400 was surprisingly low and easy to take care of in Lightroom. See attached picture. The sharpness of the images Ive taken with the A7 III is admirable. The camera is easy to handle under difficult circumstances. The only drawback for me is that I have to buy a whole new set of lenses. However the quality of the Sony optics has so far proved to be as good as the Nikon equivalent.

This is really a great camera. We have a photography business and up to this point have always used Nikon. We wanted to try both mirrorless and also Sony. So far, the camera is much much more intuitive and user friendly and the pictures are fantastic. The thing that stands out is that you can see what your image will look like in real time as you adjust settings. Auto works perfect if you are just in tourist mode and need a quick shot. None of our Nikons do auto well at all. They have a much steeper learning curve. Also, Dell price matched the camera. The process for price match is a bit lengthy and a bit of a pain, but it got done.

Google the reviews, this is the best all around mirrorless camera on the market. Great low light capabilities. Decent megapixel amount, Ive printed quality detailed 12×18 pictures probably could print larger. Of course youll need great lenses which Sony has but I absolutely love this camera This is my first Sony camera but it wont be my last. Im shooting professional quality photography. Thankful that I went to Bestbuy and the geek squad showed me the canon I was wanting then showed me the Sony. Told me to do my research on my own if I chose to but the quality pictures they had on display at their camera center and their camera knowledge was plenty. Go to a Best Buy with a camera center. Those guys have the camera knowledge and can take the time to explain it to get you what you need or want.

This camera was a huge upgrade for me. I used to take pictures on T7i Canon and then I decided to upgrade. All of my friends recommended this. OMG, the images are stunning and miles sharper than my old camera. This is the best upgrade I could get. The viewfinder is a masterpiece and the sony colors are awesome. I would suggest this camera to anyone even without a second thought.sony camera a7iii ilce sweepstakes

I bought this camera as a backup body so I wouldnt have to keep changing lenses from landscape on my A7R3 to telephoto when I want a different shot. I love the resolution on the A7R3, but I also love this one for the fact I think the autofocus is a little better and it pairs with my 200600mm very well for wildlife photography. Especially since I couldnt afford the A9 at the moment. Fantastic addition to my kit.

Let me start by saying wow. Just wow. There is a reason this camera has been hard to come by. For 2k you get a camera body that performs better than anything in its class and even classes above it. This thing even outperforms its sibling, the A7rIII in low lightISO noise much to my own surprise.Things I loveLow light performance is fantasticEverything is fast autofocus, processing 30 exposures, whatever. All fast.14 bit RAW gives you fantastic developing range Autofocus tools have been drastically upgraded, adding flexible spotexpanded flexible spot focus modes w multiselector button is a huge win for meupdated screens viewfinderpanel doesnt have the a9s beautiful finder screen but still pretty great.4k HLGSLOG3 video looks great with the option to control bandwidth gives you flexibilitydual SD card slots that let you prioritize media type based on card slot, or mirroring etc is a very pro addition5 axis stabilization x,y on OSS lens x,y,z on the sensor is great, especially for lower light situationsvastly improved batter lifeplenty of customization optionsweight and size feel great.Things I dont loveTrigger buttonpower switch is plastic come on.Menus are updated but still feel datedNo more apps but smartphone control is now built inSmartphone control doesnt always give you metering seems like an oversight. No battery charger includedI highly recommend this camera. It has enough power, features and performance to satisfy pros and hobbyists alike at a price point that still blows my mind.Obligatory test photos attached. Shot w a Voightlander 10mm hyperwide.

This is Sonys third version and its great. I bought the original a7, and returned it in 24 hours. Way to slow to focus. I have been mostly a Nikon shooter for the past 15 years, and most recently used the D850, but before that had D810, D800, Df, D750, a bunch of cameras. I always wanted the small size of Sony, but what really sold me was that after I ordered a Nikon Z6, I read the reviews and discovered the Eye Auto Focus on the a73. Wow Nikon cant touch this or at least hasnt yet you program one of the back buttons, and wham, it focuses on the subjects eye. Then, review that eye one to one with the focus check, and every eye lash is perfect To do that with my D850, I had to put the focus square on the eye, then reposition the subjecta two step process, while the Sony a7iii, finds the eye within the frame. Wow. Best focus system I have ever used for portraits. Plus, I am getting these results this just the 2870 lens. Its the smallest and lightest of the Sony midrange lenses. Still, very sharp One real note of caution when I first received my cameras from BH it was loaded with the original version 1 software and the focus didnt work very well. But once I loaded the recently released V2 software, the camera worked beautifully. So, if you own or are about own this wonderful little camera, check the software version. I downloaded mine from the Sony web site. There are also instructional videos on YouTube, on how to do this.

Was initially reluctant to go from DSLR to a mirror less but so glad I did This thing is top notch very well designed and constructed camera that takes very sharp photos and very nice 4K videos. Also got a longer range lense 105m to complement my glass collection. I would not get the converter because it crops the edges but would rather pay for Sony lenses directly because they are made for this camera. Really love everything about this camera. Never hesitate on this purchase if you can afford it. Always a top pick among camera sites and it will do everything you want it to even in low light Great buy

Im coming from having nothing but cropped bodies NikonD3100, D7100, Sony A6000, A6500 and went and decided to upgrade to FF finally. I knew that it would be better but wasnt expecting it to be this much better WOWI still consider myself very much amateur so this is not going to be a very techie review I let my brothers yt videos from Japan do that JPRTech D But given the sensor expanded capabilities and insane autofocus, my margin of errors and getting more keepers closed a little bit more.Love cropping to a shot and still have tons of sharp resolution, shooting in lower ISO really is a game changer for me. For example the photo of the red shoulder hawk I shot it using an old 300mm Nikon lens manually focused.Pixel peeping I know I missed focus on the actual main subject because there were many things in front but Im still very happy on how much detail I was able to capture on a missed manual focus shot from a non native lens. Also btw Ive used same lens on the A6500 and got nowhere near the same color richnessdepth of field see lioness photo. My big problem now is that Im going to have to at some point redo some of my favorite vacations Ive to reshoot them in Full Frame P photographerproblems

Im hobbyist and use this thing everyday. Coming from an A6000, this thing is a massive upgrade. The autofocus is fast I highly recommend pairing it with a GMaster lens to get the best performance.Love that I am able to recover photos that are poorly exposed or still get a great picture at higher ISO.One minor complaint that is unrelated to the camera itself is Sonys iOS app for transferring raw photos. Its either impossible to do via WiFi or just not obvious.

This is my first camera and Im 69 yrs old with very little technical skills. I can nearly operate my smartphone I know this is a good camera. I just have to use it to learn how to operate it. There is a lot to learn. Hopefully it all works out. The body is smaller than I thought. I bought two lenses with it just a shot in the dark on that. Im sure Ill grow into them no regrets there. I will say if anyone in my position total beginner is thinking of taking the plunge just get the option of the body with the kit Lens until you have an idea what you need. I look forward to warm weather Michigan and getting some sailing shots and some wildlife shots.

The National Parks are open I was beyond excited to hear this so I purchased this camera along with every accesory to capture all the beautiful wild life. The camera would take wonderful photos when It wanted to. But most of the time it didnt work. It would not take photos. So i quit using it and just used my Galaxy Ultra and Iphone Max. I shipped back the camera and extra lenses, and to my surprise Best Buy charged me over 500 in restocking fees I will never buy electronics from best buy again.

If youre looking for a doitall camera that packs a punch at a great value as good as 2k USD can get you, the A7III is it.Unless youre looking for the absolute best in resolution A7RIII, video performance A7S series, or sports speed A9, the A7III will be able to suit your needs with minimal compromise. The autofocusing system is lightning quick and very accurate people running at a fulltilt sprint will be caught by the eyeAF without much issue. Perfect for those who want to shoot their kids playing sports or on the daily.Low light performance is great as well, Im very comfortable using images shot at ISO 6400 and even 12800 can be manageable. The body is comfortable and compact, with dualSD slots for added peace of mind. This is a camera that will allow you to focus on what youre shooting with lots of customizable buttons rather than fiddling around deep in the admittedly convoluted menus. Battery life is also very improved among Sonys FF cameras. This camera is not perfect, but does everything very well considering the price tag. Sonys also offered up some pricy but quality glass, but now that some third parties are starting to step in it can definitely be more affordable to shoot Sony mirrorless.

Well, after almost two months of use I began to wonder of certain things, but overall impression is pretty good. For example, Lockon AF is not available when Animal Eye tracking is enabled. Why is that It would make sense to track animals in motion, rightIve been talking to Sony rep about this, and didnt get any reasonable answer. For the most part, camera does the great job, but you should be really careful about using full auto mode which you wont never use, I hope. Anyway, automatically it shoots ISO very high up, while not really necessary. What Ive liked most is working ISO of 12800, which I would never use on any of my previous cameras. To be honest, they were not fullframe, but in any case this is really convenient when you want to take some photos indoors.Or course, youll need to spend some time remapping buttons to make it reasonable, and always stay surprised why menu items are so weirdly abbreviated.

This camera is as good as it gets for its price tag. Doesnt matter if you buy it new or used nothing really compares to the image quality. If your buying this you no doubt are very interested in Photography and will understand with all the reviews out there, on the complicated menu system, this is why I have given it a no, where this survey says is it easy to use of course you could just stick it in Auto if you know nothing but for most there would be no point buying such a camera. After a steep learning curve you will produce amaziing images out of this camera.

For everyone who has been waiting for the right time, that time is now. Its not going to get much better than this. One of the reasons I didnt wait for a Canon FF mirrorless camera is because Im tired of having all the great features stripped out of the entry level camera. Canon is the worst at this, even Nikon doesnt do this to the same degree. My pair of 6Ds are going away. Sure they can produce a great image, but its not easy when you have 11 focus points and only one cross type embarrassing. While Canon adds a few more focus points 5 years later for a replacement body, Sony is packing its cameras full with everything they have. There are so many awesome features that you cant get on a DSLR, if you are not familiar just do some research. In body image stabilization, focus peaking, 10 frames per second, 693 focus points, eye auto focus, are all things that make this camera a better choice than its DSLR cousins. Some because of the technology you get by not having a mirror, and some because of the culture at companies like Canon that say, lets not put very much in our entry level full frame cameras, like really really not much.I am using a full array of Canon and Sigma EF mount lenses with a Sigma MC11 adapter, and using features like eye auto focus. The transition can be done without buying all of your new lenses at once. Good luck, do your research, maybe rent one before you make the decision to stay with your current camera brand.

Since my Canon 10D, purchased in 2003, Ive upgraded with Canon bodies, the latest a 7D…great camera for its day. Like many Canon users, Ive awaited the announcement of a meaningful replacement. However, each time Canon has released a new camera in the past few years it has been lacking competitive features. Canon has given Sony space to innovate, the proof of which is the A7 III. Still, the move to Sony could mean buying replacement Emount lenses, an expensive proposition, especially since Sony lenses are pricey. This review is as much about the Sigma MC11 and Metabones 5 adapters as it is about the A7 III, because without a fully functioning adapter I would not have purchased this awesome A7 III.I own 5 Canon brand lenses. Two are EF L lenses and 3 are EFS lenses. Heres the meat of my review. My lenses do not function acceptably with the Sigma MC11, period. All 5 of them work at least as good as when mounted to my Canon 7D. Realize this A7 III has so many settings, Im still optimizing. READ THIS Its incredible that the 400 Metabones 5 adapter does not have a piece of paper inside the box. No instructions. Nada. When I first attached it to my Sony A7 III with one of my Canon lenses, it went into huntfocus mode, finally settling, but wishywashy at best. I felt frustrated, very much so. As fate would have it, a few days later I attended a camera swap meet whereupon I bumped into a fellow photographer who owns a Sony A7R III and Metabones 5 adapter. READ THIS FOR SURE I told him about my focus issue. He took my camera. A minute later he had changed the Metabones 5 to advanced mode indicated by a red LED light on the adapter. Instantly, my Sony A7 III and Canon lens combination was stellar. The Metabones 5 had transformed from marginal performance to almost stellar. I note Metabones 5 reviews which are critical of its performance. I wonder how many have been returned because of this mode issue.OK…THE A7 III I bought it for low light performance, shooting at higher ISOs IBIS 10fps 693 focus points fullframe battery life and all of the other reasons this camera has been applauded, for less than 2K. Add the cost of the Metabones 5 and its just a home run, not perfect, but awesome. I shot 920 RAW images, plus 20 minutes of video and had 7 battery remaining. I just ordered a backup battery, but only as insurance. This camera is crazy good.MESSAGE TO CANON Wake up and smell the coffee.

Started with a5100. Wanted a small capable camera for casual street shooting. I was happy with it but it got pinched. Then I had a fuji. No touch screen. Then I tried an m43. Not enough controls in that particular model. Small size was always a consideration. Would have bought the a6500 but the heating problem on vid put me off.A7iii has put me out of my misery. Highly recommended it for those who want to get into full frame. Still compact enough and has all the sony tech features. I am now shooting all manual but nice to know all auto features are there and highly customisable for ones specific needs. Sony now probably has as many lens choices as any other brand if you consider the apsc, third party and legacy, canon and nikon lenses with adapters it has become a very flexible system. When I want it compact I just use the Sony apsc 20mm pancake glass which gives me 30mm on the full frame and it is like carrying no lens on the bodyThe other thing of note is how viable it is now to use prime lenses only. A 28mm wide angle full frame lens will give you the flexibility at the push of a button of 42mm cropped on the A7iii. The drop in resolution has no effect in what I do. Add to this Sonys clear image zoom you almost get to a portrait friendly field of view All without any image degradation and with one bright prime lens only.
