Want to use your EF or EFS lenses with the new Canon EOS R body This basic adapter makes it happen and perfectly. Performs exactly to make the best use of almost all of the Canon EF or EFS lenses ever produced. Highly Recommended Photo shows the Canon 500mm f4 IS USM mounted on the EOS R using the Canon Mount Adapter EFEOS R.

If there is any downpoint at all its the extra length to use it. But sure happen I can add RF lenses over time and use my seven or so EF lenses for now without any issues at all Shot the images of the elk swimming a fews weeks after a stroke and the R6 AND 100400mm held it steady
Matt –
Let me tell you about this adapter I couldnt be happier with the way it adapts I thought I was buying just another piece of equipment but was I wrong, this adapter has adapted like no other Ive used in the past. I honestly dont believe I would be able to adapt to using my EF lenses on my EOS R without it… It works that well. So, if you have a body with the new RF ring and have EF lenses youd like to use with it, I would definitely recommend this adapter.
armlength –
This simple adaptor enables me to used my older EF lenses with my new EOS R camera body. It is solidly built and does what its supposed to with no issues. I use autofocus lenses and they sync perfectly with the camera. Recommended
Amber –
I recently upgraded my gear and switched to the Eos R, but I wanted to still be able to use the wide range of EF lenses that are available. So I made sure to purchase this adapter and I am glad that I did. I havent noticed any lag or delay in the performance of my EF lens while using this adapter.
George –
I have a substantial collection of Canon EF L series lenses and the Canon Mount Adapter allows me to use all of my lenses with my recently purchased EOS R body with no loss in functionality or image quality. In fact although not a scientific test, I feel my EF lenses are actually sharper when mounted on the R body with the mount adapter than when attached to my DSLR bodies. Since the R is a mirrorless body there is no need for lens micro adjustments. The mount adapter is also dust and moisture resistant as are my EF L lenses. Using the EFEOS R Mount Adapter is a great cost effective tool and I highly recommend the adapter if you own either the Canon EOS R or RP bodies.
James –
I already have may EF lenses so this is quite handy to let me use them on my EOS R5. Eventually I will purchase R lenses, but this allows me to transition more gradually to the new lenses.
Mike –
I bought 3 of these and sold it all for profit. I have a discount code every time I purchase this here so even more profit for me. Also, thanks Canon for being sold out and hard to find.
latishaw24 –
Absolutely must for our Canon r6, unless you plan on buying all new lenses for your camera or are just starting out with no lenses. We have a ton of lenses that we have been using on our Canon 5D Mark iii and when the sensor stopped working we had to purchase a new one and decided on the Canon r6. This adapter made that decision easy for us since it allows us to use all our current lenses on it. By the way, we LOVE our Canon r6
Lanice –
Works flawlessly with my EF lens. Im considering the one with the drop in filters next for video and long exposure work. Im also considering another EOS R or maybe Ill wait for the next mirrorless model. This tech plus adapter works very well.
Ryan –
The product was shipped and arrived on time. So far the adapter works flawlessly with my new EOS RP and adapted ef lenses. This adapter is one of the perks in investing in Canons new R series cameras. You can use ANY lens to connect to these cameras basically natively. Good job Canon
OLGA –
I had a set of Canon lenses that worked good with my old camera and I dont want to change them all now, also because most of lenses that are promised for EOS R are available to preorder only. This adapted added 1 inch between lens and camera, but fits well and works good. I wanted to get a more advanced model with controls, but it is twice more expensive and was also for preorder only, that is why Ive got this one. Probably some day later Ill get lenses for EOS R, but now I am satisfied with this transitional solution. Image quality is very good and sharp.
Ronald –
I cannot review this item as I purchased it for my new Canon R5 from BH, however after over two months of waiting for the camera, I am not able to utilize this adapter until the camera arrives. No clue at this point how it works.
Sivamani –
When I was in the market for a new full frame mirrorless, one thing that was under consideration was my lens collection that I have already with my 7D MII. Dont have the money to reinvest in new lenses. This adapter is brilliant, you can have the cake and eat too One day I will buy dedicated lenses for my EOS R, until then this will be a permanent part of my EOS R. brilliant shots with my old lenses.
SIRCOFF –
Excellent adapter for my Canon R6. Flawless and seamless. Cant ask for more Thanks Best Buy
Matthew –
Ive been using this adapter with the Canon EOS R and a number of EF lenses. Its very solidlybuilt and affixes to both camera body and lens very wellit always feels very secure, without the slightest bit of wiggle that some adapters tend to have. The AF and electronic controls function without any issue, and Ive used it with just about every focal length possible at this point. Definitely recommend
Sebastian –
I can use my older EFS, EF and Sigma primes work seamlessly on this camera…. I just leave the adapter on and I dont even notice that its there…. my next investments will be in RF lenses.. until then, I can use my current glass with my new body.
Marco –
Because the Canon adapter rings werent available for a while, I first tried some third party products. One ring worked, one was loose and wonky, and about seven didnt work. BH was very helpful, and the return policy made it easy for me to keep trying to find a ring that works. The Canon adapter ring works without a hitch. It has a snug fit, but not too snug. No issues with communication between camera and lens. Just the way its supposed to be.
studio –
I had to buy this mount to be able to use my collection of EF lenses when I bought the R5. Compared to the RF counterpart lens that I have tried and experimented, personally the EFmount combination is not as good in many fronts. Having made the switch to mirrorless, I dont think I would ever go back to DSLR, so eventually I would be looking into slowly replacing into RF lenses. For anyone who is deeply invested in EF lenses like myself, this is of course a quick and cheap solution for the mirrorless transition, but if not, I would consider purchasing RF lenses even though they are almost twice as expensive as their EF counterparts.
Tom –
I own numerous EF lenses and just recently purchased a Canon R6. This adapter allows me to connect all my EF lenses with full communication.
NickMemphis –
Pleasantly surprised Best Buy had this product in stock at the time of order when Canon was back ordered. Works great. Used it over Christmas with my Canon RP and a 70200mm 2.8 and 50mm 1.4. Both lenses worked well.
Tom –
I purchased the Canon R mirrorless body and have been using the EF adapter. All of my EF lens are performing flawlessly on the R body preserving my lens investment and allowing me to move forward with mirrorless and new lens as the need arises.
Robert –
Ive used this adapter with an R5 body and EF 500 f4 lens with and without a 1.4 extender. Also with an EF 100400 zoom lens. Focusing is fast and precise. Communication between camera and lens seems errorfree. It works as it should.
Mark –
Ive used the adapter with many Canon and Sigma lenses. Ive found it works much of the time but many times Ive had to reattach the lens to get the electronics working. It is a connection issue of some kind. Ive tried to clean the contacts on the lenses but it doesnt seem to help. Best solution is to turn it and click the lens in position quickly vs slowly. To be fair this lens issue does occasionally happen on my 5D III and 6d II but it is very rare.
Paul J. –
Its the standard adapter, Canon offers two other adapters that offer extra features. This one is the standard, least expensive one, but I works flawlessly for connecting any EF glass on the new Canon mirrorless camera. My only complaint is that here in the States, Canon doesnt include it with the EOS R camera. Peace

I have used the EOS R for 10 days or so, I have over 3k exposures. I am switching from a 5d iv, I do not use it for video. Here are the things I likeGreat picture qualitySilent ShutterWorks with my 2470 f2.8 II, 70200 f2.8IS II and other lenses without a problem with the adapter.Single point single shot Autofocus works great.MOST of the time face detection with Eye detection works.Ring on the adapterSold separately, I have set ut up for Aperture, I really like this even though the ring is a bit to close to the camera. The FV mode is probably my favorite new feature.Great battery life, not sure how they measure the battery life for the specs, but I am getting an average of 900 photos per charge.Touch Screen as good as the 5d ivThings that I need to get used toTouch and Drag autofocusMultifunction bar, I have programmed it to ISO, left side ISO 100, right side ISO 3,600, it works.Things that need improvementFace Autofocus, it works great 90 of the time, but sometimes just decides that the hands or a chair are the face. The touch and drag autofocus can be more responsive, meaning when I touch the screen while looking through the viewfinder the to change the focus point sometimes I need to swipe a few times to get to the point I want. I have tested different options, like mapping the screen to 14, to 12 to absolute and relative. It works but not as good as it couldBursts silent shooter.More options to customize the buttons. For example, I would like to not only program the back button for Back Button Focus but to go to specify what type of autofocus singleservo, single point or different areas, etc…In conclusion, I am very happy with the EOS R and know that when Canon releases a firmware upgrade I will be really really happy with the camera
GINA –
Works really well with my lenses from my other camera. 1 Canon 50mm prime lens, and 1 135mm Sigma prime lens. Havent run into any issues
Jesse –
This adapter is great for carrying over old EF lenses to the new RF system or even for buying new EF lenses since the RF lenses are not particularly affordable yet Snaps on easily and securely. Love that Canon made this product.
Canonuser –
Works as it should. All of my EF lenses work with autofocus and IS on my R6.Have tried non canon converter and did nor communicate between lens and camera. Was wast of money
GBH75098 –
This is a must have for anyone planning on getting a EOS Rseries camera. If you already have Canon lenses, this will let you use all of them on your new body. If you dont have any previous Canon lenses, this will give you a much greater variety of lenses to choose from, instead of just the expensive R lenses. The supply of these has been limited at times, so if you see it available, get it.
Daniel –
Works well with all of my EF lenses even the third party lenses I use I I dont know if I am allowed to say S,,,, or not so I wont Auto focuses well, and a nice solid build. If you use a Canon Mirrorless camera this fits I would recommend it over buying new glass for sure
dennis –
This adapter works flawlessly to use my existing EF and EFS lenses to my new EOS R. Both Canon and 3rd party lenses I have tried all work, including autofocus, as well as they did on my DSLRs. In fact, the autofocus performance on the R is so good it makes the autofocus performance of the lenses seem even better than on the DSLRs With older 3rd party lenses, your results may vary. But most of the more recent lenses from the big 3rd party lens makers Sigma, Tamron have been verified to fully compatible. The only thing that will not work, are the inbody distortion and chromatic aberration corrections. But this is to be expected with nonCanon lenses. The adapter itself appears robust and wellmade. Connections both on the body and lens sides, feel very secure. The adapter seems to be mostly metal, has significant heft, and adds almost an inch of length to the lens barrel. But if you are looking to adapt an existing collection of EFEFS lenses to the R, that is what you have to live with. Benefits far outweigh the downsides, in my opinion. If you are getting an adapter, probably best to spend the extra 100 on the one that has the control ring 199. But it was not in stock at the time I got my R November 2018 but is readily available now. Or if you dont want to spend the extra cash for the control ring, then this one works just great
Roman –
Theres not much to the Mount Adapters design. Its a short metal tube, built to similar specifications as the EOS R. The exterior is metal and the adapter protects your camera and lens from dust and splashes. It doesnt have a tripod foot, which is a concern if you plan on using large, heavy lenses which dont include their own tripod mount. But none of Canons adapters have a tripod socket. It measures 0.9 by 2.8 inches HD, weighs 3.9 ounces, and is finished in basic black. The rear connects to an RFmount camera, the same as an RF lens, and the front accommodates an EF or EFS SLR lens. While EFS lenses dont cover a fullframe sensor, they are handy for video with the EOS R, as its 4K system uses only a small area of its image sensor. The adapter works without issue or any additional effort, and without limiting autofocus speed or accuracy. I cant think of a better thing to write about an adaptertransparency in operation is what you want when using nonnative lenses with a mirrorless system. At just less than 100, the Mount Adapter EFEOS R is a nobrainer purchase for photographers buying the EOS R. If you already have an investment in EF lenses, it will let you use them without any drawbacks with an RF camera body. If you dont already own the lenses, but youve decided on the EOS R, it makes it possible to supplement the rather limited selection of lenses currently available. Either way, its an almost essential accessory for the EOS R.There are other adapters to consider. The 200 Control Ring Mount Adapter EFEOS R is essentially the same device, but with a programmable control ring, just like you find on RF lenses. If you love the feature, you may find it worth the additional cost.
Rogers –
This adapter allows you to use your ef glass on the R series of canon mirrorless cameras. This allows you to move into the future now, without have to retool with new RF glass right now. A must have item
DNguyen714 –
My EF glass works perfectly with this adapter with the R5. Autofocus, including face detecteye tracking, works perfect
Lynn –
This is essential for transitioning from DSLR to Mirrorless. I have had no problems with any of my lenses. It makes it so much easier than buying all new lenses right out of the gate. Hightly recommend.
Lisa –
I had trouble finding this in stock, but its now available I purchased this after using ef mount lenses and then recently purchasing the canon RP mirrorless camera. Adapter works great and saves a lot of money so I can use my EF lenses
Dan –
Get the Canon EFEOS R if you can. Canons version is much better than the Aftermarket versions. Theres no play or loose movement between the adapter and the camera. It fits perfectly. The Canon EFEOS R also communicates between the lens and camera perfectly.
Shultzy –
I sold my Canon EOS 60D and two lenses to get this and the EOS RP. I have two other lenses that I absolutely love to use and Im not done with them. The fact that this came with the camera was amazing. I can still use my DSLR lenses with my mirrorless camera until I get the correct mirrorless lenses to replace those two.
Dwight –
This works perfectly mating my older EF lenses with my Canon RP. Excellent build quality and compatibility. No sloppiness in this fitting.
Christopher –
I recently switched over from the Canon M50 and had a EF to EFM sense adapter and I loved it When I switched over I knew I wanted to keep my various EF lenses that I have accumulated over the years and I was surprised that when I used these lenses and the adapter on the EOS R that they worked perfectly Autofocusing and manual focusing were quick as always, Eye AF worked to some degree and video was a breeze. Had some slight hunting but I figured thats expected depending on the location and the lens.
Jon –
Love Love Love, I love the EOS R, this is coming from a 5D Mark IV user. The EOS R has now become my camera while the Mark IV is now my backup. The camera first off has great ergonomics it feels so good in your hands, I was looking at the other options A7III and couldnt get over how it felt in my hands. Its also light weight which is great for weddings or just taking it hiking etc. The EVF is really well built. The touchfocus pad is also awesome it allows to get quick and accurate focus. I love the video that comes out of this Im able to retain better highlight and shadow details than my Mark IV. The RF to EF adapter works flawlessly with all of my EF lenses. I will probably end up selling my Mark IV for another R here soon.
JTSOTO –
I recently bought a Canon RP to start getting into Full sensor cameras. However, coming from owning a 60d and an 80d a have quite the collection of EFEOS mount lenses. Enter this adapter. On the RP does feel a little bulky with EF mount lenses and you have a cropping issues but to be honest Id rather have that issue than a bunch of useless lenses. Love it
Groth –
The Canon EFEOS RP Lens Mount Adapter works as advertised. I have been able to use all of the EFS lenses from my previous camera. The auto focus works the auto exposure works. If youre upgrading to a new Canon R or RP camera and have Canon lenses from your previous Canon camera that were EF or EFS you will definitely want this adapter.
Mark –
This mount works perfectly with every Canon lens that I have used it with so far. I have also used it with the Sigma 150600 and it works great as well. This is the regular mount adapter without the control ring, but is 100 cheaper and works great for me.
dr.vin –
This adapter is a typical Canon product well designed and made to do the job for which it was intended. Yes, its needed to connect EF lenses to an EOS R or RF body, but it achieves this so seamlessly that one takes it for granted. If so inclined, one could take the next step up and utilize the control ring adapter instead, but I have used both and do not miss the additional features of the more expensive version. This basic adapter is all one really needs.
Jeffrey –
I had to wait a while for this to come back in stock but I didnt want to buy something that had any questions regarding its durability, water and weather resistance and or quality build. I did not have any other Canon lenses but this opens up the possibility to acquire some ES lenses or other manufacturers lenses made for the ES bodies.
Leonard –
This adapter is why we recently purchased the R5 over the Sony A7. Sony was significantly cheaper but I was hearing that their Canon lens adapter was having trouble communicating with the lenses. Since all of our glass was Canon, we decided to stay the course. Could not be happier. We have had zero issues with our lenses, both EF and EFS.The adapter seats firmly on the camera and locks in without a problem. Our lenses attach smoothly just like they were being mounted directly to the body. Zero problems with the AF and aperture functions. Only problems have been with my computer hard drive starting to max out and several irritated grandchildren who never thought their goal in life was to be the practice model for their Grandmother.
Jordan –
This adapter works flawlessly with all of my EF lenses. Autofocus works great as well. Would be nice to have the extra functional ring on the more expensive model but this works perfectly fine.
Romc357 –
Solid construction. Easy to use. Great adapter to use your old lenses with the new rf mount.
C –
Kudos to Canon for making an OEM adapter that doesnt cost an arm and a leg to get. I recently bought this to mount a 70200 EF lens to my RF mount CANON EOSR. The product finish is impressive, and everything fits as you would expect from canon. The only downside is if you are shooting action shots, the Autofocus lags a bit, causing shots to be missed. Out of 3k pictures taken, my device froze twice from the lagging In the autofocus. I would recommend this product as a great but cheap alternative to mount the opposite lens.
Benjamin –
Works as expected to allow for full compatibility with EOSEF lenses. However, this item is always not in stock and I had to wait months for it.
Richard –
Autofocus is lightning quick w the EOS RF native lenses but I had my Tamron 70200mm on w this adapter and it was surprisingly quick. I mainly hoped the adapter would work fine for my manual lenses, which it did, but use it for my nonCanon zooms as well. AOk
Bryan –
I recently upgraded from a Canon M5 to a Canon RP. I have Canon, Tamron, and Samyang EFmount lenses, and purchased this Canon EFEOS R mount adapter to all me to use all of my lenses. I am very pleased with the result. Autofocus and metering for my Canon and Tamron lenses is fast. The mounts are tight and secure. I am a happy buyer
Tasha –
Got an EOS R for personal uses but since I also use canon professional, I grabbed this adapter to use my other lenses as well. It worked seamlessly and makes the value in having mirrorless and full frame even more
Max1030 –
Two month R5 user and have been using strictly adapted lens with an aftermarket lens adapter that works FLAWLESSLY.Have been on the waiting list for this CANON brand adapter and the Control Ring Lens Mount Adapter which have been out of stock everywhere. This finally popped up being available and I jumped on it hoping for better focus, faster response and higher quality.Quality on par with aftermarket, Speed on par with aftermarket, price 2Xs aftermarket with no gains except for Canons name on the side. This one is going back.
Fred –
I have an extensive collection of EF lenses that I wanted to use with the Canon R5 that I recently purchased. The adapter works with every lens I own and the quality of images and performance of the camera have been outstanding. Those looking to dip their toes in the mirrorless world with a large collection of EF lenses will be very pleased with this product.
MaraLee –
This adapter allows an EF lens to mount on the Canon EOS R series bodies. It does not have the control ring, but thats not an issue at all for me.There are other brands of mount adapters available, but Ive read theyre not as dependable as the native Canon brand.
PETE –
If you dont want or dont have the money to spend on the more expensive adapters, this one does its job admirably. Once on, it becomes part of the cameraSolid. Everything works as it should. It does cause the lens to stick out more obviously but it does allow the use of older lenses.
Strike –
Love this adapter. Almost bought the one with the control ring glad I waited for this to come back in stock. Much cheaper. Now I, able to use all of my lenses once again loll
Christopher –
Sure, I wish I could get all new RF lenses, but those are too expensive for my budget. This adaptor works just fine with my old lenses. No loss in functionality while using EF lenses on my new Canon EOS R.
Nicholas –
Have been using these on various EF L lenses and also a Tamron 150600 G2 lens on two different EOS R bodies and a RP and they work as expected on all combinations. I have three of the plain adapters and one with a control ring. Im finding its more convenient to just leave the adapters on the lenses Im planning on using rather than leaving them on the bodies, since I also have a couple of RF mount lenses to interchange. Its just simpler that way and I then only have to carry RF mount rear lens caps. So far no problems at all either electrically or mechanically.I wish Canon would consider making an extended version of the adapter. Possibly one with a total extension of 45 or 50mm instead of the standard EF to R extension of 20 mm. That would provide close focusing macro ability for the EF lenses and would eliminate needing the additional set of mechanical couplings and electrical contacts that a conventional macro extension tube would add, so would be a more reliable accessory.
Barry –
i bought this to use with new RP and all of my existing Canon Lens. tight fit on camera and works as noted in description. It has also transformed my problematic focusing Sigma 35mm art lens on a 6Dto a never miss even in low light worth the investment
RCJr324 –
Bought this while I waited for the version with the control ring. Works seamlessly with my canon and sigma lens. Fit is perfect unlike the aftermarket brands.
Daniel –
If youre upgrading from a DSLR to a new mirrorless camera and dont want to drop a ton of money on new lenses, this is a great option to continue using your EF lenses. Auto focus remains sharp and quick, best adapter Ive ever used.
George –
This is a beautifully made and marvelous addition to the Canon line. I have quite a few Canon EF lenses yet the advantages of the mirror list cameras cause me to want to upgrade to that platform. The cost of doing so and buying all new lenses was prohibited Canon solution is allowed me to move into that realm to utilize my in conjunction with the mount adapter. Unlike some of the competition where complaints have been lodged that is difficult to control the the sun reflections this extender handles them with ease and I heartily recommended to all.
TimJD –
I believe this is a good transition accessory for your EOS R while you build up your RF glass, but Im finding it sketchy at wide angles. No issues at 50mm and above, but when I shoot 16mm on my 1635 it distorts a fair amount at the edges, and lens profile corrections in Lightroom dont help. If I had to guess there is just enough distance variation between the back of the lens and the sensor to tweak it a bit.
Mmranda66 –
Being able to use all my RF glass on my new EOS R is great Glad I only had to wait a few days for this Makes the Transition to mirrorless a great experience.
COLIN –
The adaptor arrived on time and in good condition was nice to see shipping erring on side of caution by adding more than required shipping protection.Product works as advertised and am really pleased to make use of lenses already in my possession.
George –
This is a GREAT addition to the EOS R RP if you have EF lenses. I have always been skeptical of lens adapters because I used one in the past and it didnt work very well at all. But Canon really did good with this one. If you want the EOS R or RP but have EF lenses go ahead, get the camera with the Canon adapter you will not be disappointed.
bchr521 –
Great adapter, no issues with my EF lenses on my RP so far. Great option to open up my lens option on the mirrorless model. No regrets
Pete –
Allows me to use my EF Mount lenses on my R6, which is nice considering I could only afford one RF lens after buying the 2470 F2.8 lol. Only thing I noticed is that it takes longer for the camera to shut down and close the sensor shutter which doesnt seem to be an issue or anything.
Jordan –
I see zero loss of functionality with EF lenses whatsoever. Build quality is top notch, right down to the springloaded action of the release button. Its a simple mount, but its also important to get the details right. I think Canon did a great job here.
Daniel –
I upgraded from my 5D mkii to the EOS R and this adapter is a musthave to allow me to use my old glass on the new body. I didnt know if I would ever use the control ring on the other mount adapter so I went with this one until I had a chance to use the camera more. However now I think I wouldve gone with the control ring instead Im still probably going buy that one down the road so I can assign exposure compensation to it.Also, check out the dropin filters that you can insert into these. I might invest in a few of those too because they work with this model and the control ring one instead of having the get the 300 snapin adapter from Canon.
Wedive2 –
A must have if you plan to invest in the mirrorless EOS R. This adaptor allows you use your existing lenses rather than investing in the new RF mount lenses. Without this adaptor I would not have been able to make the switch to mirrorless. It was offered free with the EOS R at the time of purchase. It adds a little length to the lens, but I hardly even notice the adaptor is on the camera. Highly recommended
Ashley –
Works great to continue using my EF lenses on my EOS R without compromising quality. Was worried that it wouldnt compare to using the R glass, but Im impressed with the results. A must have for those switching to R mounts and dont want their EF lenses to collect dust.
Mike –
Perfect for bringing your old glass to the new platform. EF lenses work flawlessly Using EFS lenses do force the camera to crop size. I havent used mine with an EFS lens, but I expect it to live up to the Canon standard.
GUANGCI –
Its the best camera I ever have since 1962. I really love it and have strongly recommended it to all of my friends who liked photography .Also, I loved the service Adorama provided to me. The salesman and service department personnel worked friendly and sufficiently. All above made a wonderful lifelong memory.
nickcal –
I really enjoyed the EOS R but unfortunately, I had to return it due to issues I was having with my third party lenses. When I used this lens mount adapter with Canon EF lenses it worked great. Spot on and my first gen 70200 L lens seemed to work better with the EOSR than my 5D Mark IV. It was pretty great. My problems arrived when I tried to use the lens mount adapter with third party lenses like the Tamron glass. My focus was off in a big way. No matter what I did this kept happening. Canon said that the V2 lenses should work just fine with the lens Mount Adapter but with no avail they didnt. I can say if you are using this adapter with Canon EF or EFS glass its going to give you flawless results but with third party glass, my experiences were bad enough for me to return both the camera and adapter.
Chelsea –
It worksBut wow it needs a tripod mount. I was kinda shocked to realize it wouldnt have one. Some EF lenses are so freaking heavy compared to the EOS R and RP. So, FYI.
Terry –
Arrive on time, very well packed, documentation. There is only one thing that would be nice, is a red mark on the rear cover to know how to position it correctly. There is a very small blackblack raised line on the cap, which is hard to see. Otherwise I cant wait to try it on my lenses with the Canon R5 body
Bluesman –
A must have for Canon shooters. Allows you the option of using your current and favorite lenses seamlessly. Easy on. Easy off. 2 other versions are available. One has a programable control ring. And a pretty cool version with removable filters that are fit behind the lens. Far less chance of scratching. But costly. The basic adapter is all you need. Simple and useful.
Glenn –
It works well. I dont need the control ring or ND filters, and I think the price point is perfect for what it does. My EF and EFS lenses have worked great, although I find myself enjoying the RF lenses enough that I may transition fully to the RF ecosystem.
Nicholas –
Ive purchased 3 of these and on of the versions with the Control Ring. The basic adapters seem to wok fine on almost all Canon EF lenses Ive used them on a 70200 f2.8 EF IS II, a 100 F2.8 Macro EF and a 28200 F3.5. with perfect results. It also works correctly on the Tamron 150600 G2. The only lens that does not work correctly is my 2035 f3.5 wide angle. It appears to autofocus fine and have aperture control, but when the shutter is released the camera shows an error message and the image is greatly underexposed as if the aperture is closed down to the smallest stop. The lens works perfectly fine on a 80D and a 50D, but not on a R5 or R using the adapter.Otherwise, this is certainly the best EF adapter for the R series cameras. They fit snugly and in most cases provide full functional operation of the older EF lenses. Since I often switch back and forth between new RF and old EF glass, I just add a EFEOSR adapter to each EF lens and leave it in place on the lens.
NkvA –
Excellent mount adapter, dont see any issues with Auto focusing. I bought another with control ring, but no difference I found with autofocus.
Joy –
Used the EFEOS R adapter to attach my Canon 2470mm f4 IS and Canon 70300mm f4.55.6L IS lenses to my R6. Attaching is simple and focusing was fast. If you have compatible EOS lenses this is a way to save money versus outright replacing the lens with no compromise.
Instylvanah –
best investment when switching to mirrorless and looking to save money to purchase future RF lenses. 100 gets you running on mirrorless bodies with an ROI that can be made back in one shoot, as well as potentially save you money for future purchases until youre fully transitioned over.
Victoria –
Came in excelent condition. Very lightweight. Didnt know it came with a bag. Fits a little tight at the beginning, just be careful. I just thought it was built different, but feels very similar to a lens, and now I can use my EFs ones
Evgenii –
Thank you for your store I was looking for this adapter for a camera for a very long time and could not find it in stock anywhere. The only store rendered it yours And fast delivery Recommend
Ian –
I appreciate not having to buy all new glass when switching to the EOS R, but the adaptor failed without warning during a job, rendering the camera useless. I got a communication error and literally could not use the camera. Of course I was just outside of the warranty and the only thing Canon suggested was to clean the contacts. I keep my equipment in pristine condition, its not an issue of a dirty contract. Im sorely disappointed in this adapter but am forced to buy another one, oh wait, theyre back ordered for weeks…
Jeremiah –
Just a solid adapter at a reasonable price which is unlike Canon, honestly. I bought their BGE22 battery grip for a whopping My Green Extreme 5D Mark IV grip was like 80 and works awesome. Alas, I digress…. All in all, adapts EF mount glass easily to the RF mount. Ive not tested any Canon glass, as I dont own any, but all my Tamron G2 lenses and my Sigma Art lenses work without a hitch, both in stills and video.
Christian –
This adapter works perfectly with my olf EF lenses for my Eos R5. The price of the RF lenses was really throwing me off from purchasing the camera but this was all I needed and the autofocus works great with my EF lenses.
Tony –
The Canon EFEOS R and EOS RP Lens Mount Adapter is a very useful accessory. It enables the use of EF lenses on the EOS R fullframe DSLR. There is a slight cropping effect when EF lenses are used in this way, but the EOS Rs resolution of over 30 MP allows the image produced to be enlarged significantly. So this cropping effect is not limiting in any significant way.
ChrisB –
Upgraded the wife to a R6 and didnt know they changed the mounting layout for canon lenses with the new generation. This adapter allowed us to use her old expensive lens without losing any quality of photo.
Dan from Taylor –
I have a pretty good collection of EF lenses, so this is an important piece to me. It works fine. Its nicely constructed, fits the RP solidly and accepts lenses solidly. Ive had to get used to releasing the lenses I use on the adapter and not on the body, but that was no big deal. Im no fan of adding an inch to the length of a compact lens, but I can live with that, too. All in all, using the adapter with EF lenses is a great way to go.
Patrick –
Going from EF to RF is a painful journey. I started with this one.Built really well. Theres nothing else to mention.
Zhongxiang –
There are many Canon SLR lenses on hand, but they have not been able to replace them with RF mount lenses for a while. This adapter ring perfectly solves the problem of using old lenses on EOS R5 cameras.
jbarrande –
This adapter is compatible with all of my EF and EFS lenses. It works perfectly with the Canonbranded lenses as well as my two Sigma fisheyes. It has the best fit I have ever seen on an adapter of any kind. It accomplishes its purpose flawlessly. At this point in September 2020, they are not easy to come by, so they are a bit higherpriced as a result. Theyre worth it, though.
Nster –
This adaptor is a must for the new Canon R or RP. This opens up the whole EF line with these new cameras. I have used it with my EF lenses and they have no function loss. It is definitely a must with these cameras.
Petr –
After long back order waiting, works without problems. Practical note for R6 while Canon EF lenses are recognized by the camera which automatically sets the crop, for EF lenses of other manufactures this function might not work. It is then necessary to set the parameter manually through the camera Menu.
Nikolai –
Its a great quality adapter. Works flawlessly with my Canon lenses. I picked this one because I dont really know need a control ring version. Thanks to Adorama for smooth transaction and fast shipping.
Keith –
The long and short on this review is the fact that it took forever to get it this adaptor during COVID19 due to China restrictions most likely. I was on the let me know when its in stock list only I did not order until I received the alert and I purchased it the second I saw the BH email in stock alert great option with BH. I picked up a Viltrox EFR2 first because I needed an adaptor to use all my lenses. It was the same price with the ring for adjusting another setting like ISO.Why did I purchase it…. Because of the New Canon EOS R has the new RF lens mount and my lenses are all Canon EF lenses. I did a Overview and Comparison video on my YouTube Channel if you would like to see the unboxing of this CAnon mount and a comparison to the Viltrox. Just search YouTube for this title. I have used it for about ten days now and it works with no issues. The big thing is its water resistant as has e seal and the Viltrox did not. So I will always use it when outdoors when there is any humidity or moisture. You pay for Canon stuff but the quality is there in my opinion.YouTube Video TitleUNBOX the Canon EF EOS R Adaptor and compare to the Viltrox EFR2Link to My OverviewUnboxing and Comparison Video httpsyoutu.beiEdmq6pP0rE
Joseph –
This is a no brainer and usually comes free with the eos r. Its works flawlessly. Its not a speedbooster but you can only boost a lens in 4k and honestly not worth it. Get this if you havent. I have no regret no getting the nd version
JonC –
I think its quite expensive for what it does. Its an adaptor so you can use the EF lenses with your canon R. Also give it a control ring feature so it works like the RF lenses. You can configure it so itll perform a desired camera function. Or change iso, f stop, aperture, exposure comp… Etc.A must have if you wish to use your collection of older lenses with the new Canon R
Goalerjones –
Fits great, was worried about getting a 3rd party model from fears that they would be loose. Makes using my EF lenses a breeze, and I dont have to get rid of all my old lenses. No speed issues, in fact a couple of lenses actually seem to perform faster.Best buy purchase was easy, arrived in reasonable amount of time considering Covid shipping issues.
Thomas –
Prior to purchasing the Canon R5 I have used my Canon 5D Mark IV for several years and have a substantial collection of Canon EF lenses that I wish to use withy R5. This adapter is inexpensive, compact, and works perfect with all of my Canon EF lenses on the R5. Autofocus is just as fast with this adapter as the native RF lens on the Canon R5. For those with a lot of Canon EF glass, this adapter is a must have if you are buying a Canon R product.
Gene –
One of several Canon makes for adapting any EF lens to the R mount of the Mirrorless EOS camera body It came with my EOS R camera, will be buying one of their other adapters with the Variable Neutral Density Filter system built into the adapter sometime in the future
Danny –
I was torn between buying an EOS R5 or a Leica SL2. The deciding factor was focusing performance. The R5 with the adapter is far superior and works extremely well. No complaints at all.
Olivier –
Just kidding . Not for sale. So lucky I could get one . WOW, incredible how much demand there is on that adapter. But is it any good I repeat Not for sale.
susyiraisreyes –
Arrived in a timely manner and was in brand new condition. Highly recommend, very satisifed. Works amazing on my r5.
avalexey –
Breathes new life into EF lenses. Autofocus and all operations are seamless. I tried third party adapters but they are not nearly as good as Canon. These are hard to find now.
Hector –
It was odd that Canon offers adaptor after adaptor, each 100 more that the other. This one, being out of stuck, even locally, was worth the wait. Coming from a DSLR world with thousands invested in glass already, this is the best thing I needed to convince me to finally get an R5. Does the trick perfectly, focusing, stabilizing, etc. Just what I needed.
Louis G –
I finally made the move to the canon R6 mirrorless system. It has the RF lens mount. I had a lot of good EF L glass so I got the 99 adapter. Wow a adapter that does exactly what its supposed do. With virtually no loss of IQ. Couldnt be more pleased with the AF.Great Buy
John –
Pretty hard to wax poetic about an adapter but this product is solid, well machined and it connects ef lenses to my RP body smoothly and efficiently. It adds a small amount of wait and length to the lens though compared to RF native lenses. Uploading a handheld photo of flowers I took with my EF 85mm 1.8 lens which is a gem and in my opinion almost as good as the much heavier and infinitely more expensive Canon EF 85 mm 1.2 L lens.
Roy –
I recently purchased the EOS R and EF to EOS R lens mount as I have numerous Canon prime and Canon L lenses. After using for about two weeks I am happy to say that the EF to R adapter allows flawless integration and operation of my EF lenses with Canons new mirrorless Full Frame EOS R camera. All my EF lenses performed as expected and without any problems. Good job Canon.
Brye –
This adapter is no frills, but it does exactly what its intended to. The adapter was included at no cost with my new EOS R. It will hold your stable of Canon glass securely on your new EOS R series camera. You wont even know its there after a few lens changes. You just have to remember to unlock the lens on the adapter, instead of the camera. Sure it makes your old lens a little bit longer, but it lets you move into the next generation of Canon mirrorless cameras without having to buy any new lenses. If you have Canons L series lenses, you wont see any compromise. In fact, the newer sensor in the EOS R will likely improve your image quality over your older DSLR.
Steve –
This adapter has worked perfectly, with every EF and EFS lens I have placed on it to use with my R5. All AF types have worked as well, including EyeAF Tracking. And, it also worked at high F stops with my EF 2X Teleconverters a pleasant plus
K –
This has exceeded my expectations for an adapter Every one of my EF lenses works as well on my EOS R as it did it on a 5D IV. The AF is lightening fast and image quality is topnotch.BTW, This is not my first experience with using an adapter. I briefly bought the A7rIII in the spring, along with a Metabones adapter, in hopes of keeping my Canon glass. The results were very hit or miss, which is unacceptable for event photographers. The RFEF adapter is a perfect solution for people wanting to make the gradual transition to mirrorless.
mr0322 –
Honestly this should just come with the camera. Luckily you can find great bundles with the EOS R or RP that include it to expand your lens options. All lens and camera features work perfectly with this adapter. Ive also used it with Sigma EF lenses with no problems.
Anonymous –
If you are migrating from a previous Canon series that uses EF lenses, this adapter is a must…but it also makes the transition seamless and worth it I was able to make use of all my EF glass without missing a beat. No compromise to image quality at all.
Rajat –
A good piece of equipment does exactly as advertised. I use it for my sigma and canon lenses. It works as if they are attached natively to my camera. Canon held on to the quality pretty well.
GulliverFan –
Got this free with my Canon RP. I use this to adapt my EF 75300 and my EF 100mm 2.8 macro lens. Works great. All functions like AF and metering work great in my Canon RP
Justine –
This adapter does exactly what it should. I originally bought only one, thinking it would do for both my EF lenses. But I found that it was inconvenient to juggle the adapter between the two lenses and to carry two different types of lens dust caps. So I bit the bullet and bought a second adapter and am glad I did.
targetproductions –
This lens adapter help me put my other Canon lenses without problem. I practically leave it on the camera all the time. That saves me time when using it on the field.
4kfun –
works amazingly well with Canon EF lenses. I bought Canon R6 camera and have a lot of Canon EF lenses. This adapter makes EF lenses work exactly as RF lenses for photos and videos.
Michael –
Performance has been great with all my EF glass including third party Sigma and Tamron lenses. I will mentioned that I did accidentally unlock the lens from this adapter when using the camera on a sling strap. So if youre using a sling style strap, be careful of camera orientation when using adapted lenses.
RSwan –
EF to EOS R adapter works very good with canon EF lenses. This model does not have the control ring which is awkward to use and easily hit to make unwanted adjustments. This model in my opinion is the best adapter to purchase
Jeffrey –
I think it was worth holding out for the official adapter, because its super solid and feels like an extension of the camera. Even with my ancient 70200mm f4L, theres no wiggle or loose feeling here. Importantly, all of the auto focus works as expected across the five EF lenses I tried, and maybe even gets there faster because of the improved algorithms found in the R6.
RSS101 –
This has been the most requested item in 2021 as you can use it with all EF lenses using the Canon mirrorless cameras. I finally got one and am pleased with how my 200MM F2 handles with this adapter attached.
Susan –
I have used this adapter for mounting a canon 55250mm lens onto the Canon R5. It worked very well. No issues. While I got the 100500mm RF lens when I got the R5, I did not want to replace all my lens, and I was pleased with the results.
Sarab –
I recently purchased a Canon EOSR. This is new Canon R Series and that built for canon RF series lenses. But People like me who already invested in EF lenses need this adopter so we can use our EF series lenses on Canon EOSR.Working for me. I almost use my 2470 mm, 70200mm 85mm with this adapter it works just fine.
Laurence –
I wasnt certain how this would work, because Ive heard nightmares about lens adaptors and lens function just not being very good. But since I was upgrading from an EF mount body to an RF mount body, the best way for me to budget the changeover was to find a way to keep using my old lenses. It turns out that using the three lenses I have and prefer, this adaptor works just fine. Really, the only problem with it is that it makes the lense that much longer. As much as anything, I look forward to getting RF native lenses to keep things a bit more compact. Meanwhile, functionally, this adaptor has been perfect.
K2019 –
I love that I got to keep my EF lenses. This adapter is all you need. Its easy to put on and easy to remove. I looked at the two other adapters and settled on this one. I dont use filters and three different wheels control the ISO, shutter speed and f stop. Very happy with my choice.
IslandDad –
If youre new to the Canon RRP and already have a collection of EFEFS glass, this is a must have accessory. I got it in a kit with my RP and it works flawlessly as expected with my EF lenses. The focus is lightning fast and accurate even with my first generation 24105 F4 L lens.
stevem –
A must have as I was a EOS 5D MkIV user moving to EOS R and wanted to use all my beautiful EF Lseries primes. Also allows you to buy 2nd hand EF lenses for much cheaper than buying the new RF equivalents. Build quality is prolevel, so a bit heavy.
HENRY –
Incredible adapter, works perfectly with my L lenses that I was using on my previous dslr. Auto focus works perfectly and the sharpness is still on point. Love this adapter and the build of it. Also, the price is unbeatable. A must have for EOS R users.
Hemi –
I placed this adapter on my 500mm mkll and attached my r6 and the adaptation began. Great experience, works as described. I couldnt ask for anything better to combine my new camera to an ef lens. Focus is fast and spot on. This adapter fit both camera and lens perfectly. Canon hit this one out of the park.
LarryD –
This adapter works perfectly. Im able to use my older Cannon lenses. This easily cost way less than replacing lenses would have cost.
TvPhoto –
A great tool to be able to use my old EF lens on my new Canon R5. No issues so far, and super easy to mount and use with my older lens. Most importantly, Ive experienced no lag with autofocus controls when using the adapter,
WaldorfBestBuypurchase –
This product worked very well will the Canon R6 I purchased. It has been very easy to get on and off. I having seen any change in the operation. Seems to fit very well. I have used it with the canon 85mm.
Jenn –
I am so happy that this is a thing. I had a EF telephoto lens that was very expensive left from an old camera that I had sold. I wanted to upgrade to a mirrorless camera but a comparable lens would have been an additional 2500. For 100 this ring allows me to use my EF lens on my RP camera and it works great.
Andrew –
The Canon adapter does all that is asked of it, the main issue therefore is how well your camera and the associated lenses in your possession will work in the overall sense.I have 3 usable lenses in my kit and each gave differing levels of compatibility with my Canon RP camera.Best overall was the 50mm f1.8 STM Nifty Fifty which is fully compatible and renders a full 26 Mpixel image with excellent results to the memory card.Next comes the EFS 1785mm IS USM which is fully functional in every sense but renders to only 10 Mpixel size image on the sensor. This differs from the above because the rendered image is smaller than the above example.Lastly the Tamron 18270mm f3.5 f6.3 tele zoom which still renders an image but lacks any incamera control of the what gets issued to the memory card. This means that the image is displayed as a fuzzy circle within a black frame with heavy vignetting away from the centre of the image. This result is only usable with a lot of work in post. I would regard this as not worth the trouble. So the qualification to add to the overall pros and cons of this adapter is to check first the compatibility of your EF lenses with your R mount camera.
Richard –
This is a simple product that does one thing and does it well. I didnt want to replace all of my EF lenses with newer RF lenses. I chose a Canon adapter over another brand as I was concerned there might be performance issues. I have used it with the 16 35, 100 400, and 24 105 with no issues. Autofocus as well as other features of the R5 are not affected.
Kimberly –
Enables the use of long lenses for wildlife until the RF versions come out or you can afford to replace them. I notice no difference in image quality using this adapter with an R5 vs using the same lens on a 7D mkiii.
Dennis –
Ive never been fan of adapters of any kind, but this may change my thinking. I use this on an R5 and the EF lenses dont suffer a bit. Clean, clear, crisp images is what Im getting just like from the one mirrorless lens I own Rf50. The autofocus is fast and dead on just as advertised. I will use my substantial EF lens collection on the R5 saving the cost of repurchasing. Great product so far and great service from BH.
Jack –
After receiving the new R5, I have tried all RF glass that I have recently upgraded for my 5Ds. No problems All lenses work flawlessly with this adapter. A good thing as it will take some time and a pile of cash to buy all new lenses.
jvjvjvjvjvjvjvjvjvjvjvjv –
All functions of my EF lenses work as they normally do. Feels supersolid. What more could you ask for
Pong –
A must if you plan to use your ef canon lenses on the new eos r series canon cameras . Planing to purchase canon mirror less camera . Its hard to purchase as it is always not in stock at BB . Just always look on line for availability , as they sell fast . As online reviews stated this is the best adaptor to the eos r series cameras .
PA925 –
Canon has provided an easy way to seamlessly integrate your EF lens stable with the newer RF lenses. As a result, even if Canon hasnt added an RF version of your favorite lens yet, you can still use the EF version with your R body. There are even different variations of this device available to add the control ring function found on RF lenses, or even dropin filters.
Charles –
It operates perfectly with all of my EF lenses. Except for the extended length, I sense no difference in handling and shooting. My only slight issue is the tightness of the fit it requires a bit of effort to screw the adapter into place. I might add, Ive found the Vello adapter, which I bought earlier due to the long backorder status of the Canon, to work just as well as the Canon.
Kevin –
I love being able to use my EF lenses and older lenses with EF adapters on my new EOS R6 camera. It provides a sturdy connection and is easy to get on and off. You can either leave it mounted on the camera and pop lenses on and off as you normally would, or leave it attached to the lens when you remove the lens from the camera. Its easy to use and provides all the functionality that youd normally get from the lens.
Zach –
This is so small and affordable it makes sense if you have even one ef lens that you would use on your Rseries camera. This opens up a wide array of ef lenses that will work great on a camera likey Rp
Mike –
Adapter works way better then expected. Thought it would be a horrible experience like adapters are with sony mirrorless. However this adapter makes canon ef glass focus just as fast as native rf lenses do from the lenses Ive tested. This also makes ef lenses focus faster on the rp then canons DSLR in my experience. Highly recommend this adapter.
Robert –
I bought one of these for my first Canon R5. When I got the second, I bought a similar mount adaptor from a competing company. I was unable to tell any difference in the quality or usefulness of the two adaptors, but the competitor cost 40.00 less
Byron –
I have used the adapter on most of my EF lenses and all work flawlessly. I have tested the claimed additional stabilization with EF lenses that have it built in, but all indications are that 3 stops looks pretty good. Handheld with a EF 70200 f2.8L on my R6 body are sharp at 130 sec across the zoom range.
Howard –
This Canon Mount Adapter allows me to use my Canon EF 100400mm f4.55.6L IS II lens. So far, so good, and still auto focuses with available light although most of the events are well lit. This allows me to use my other Canon with faster, shorter focal length lens.
John –
If you are moving into the mirrorless world but reluctant to give up your arsenal of SLR lenses, then Canon has made the transition as painless as possible. This Canon Adaptor is simple and allows photographers to use all SLR lenses on the mirrorless EOSr bodies in the same way as with the SLR bodies without any loss of function. Its a simple and no fuss solution. It simply works
Jim –
Easy way to utilize your older EF lenses on Canons mirrorless camera systems. No negative impact noted when using these adaptors.
Igor –
It does its job if one has EF lenses, they will work OK with Canon rseries cameras even tele with converters. Changing to mirrorless from DSLR within Canon, one should get it together with a new r camera.
Sue –
This works wonderfully converting all my ef lens to R lens. Having laid out so much on my L lenses I wasnt keen to part ways with them even for the sure great R5 and R6. Now I have the best of both worlds.
Mitchell –
Got it for free with the Canon RP which I absolutely love, by the way. Once I got it on, Ive completely forgotten about itit just works. Literally no downsides to this, other than it adds some bulk to the tiny, weightless mirrorless RP. Makes me all the more eager to invest in some RFmount glass. It makes the EF lenses we have work perfectly. In fact weve noticed sharper images with them though that is likely more due to the autofocus system of the RP.
Adam –
Makes EF lenses work flawlessly on R bodies. Function like a native lens, even focus more accurately than on EF bodies.
whlsdn –
This is a necessary adaptor if one wants to use an EF lens with the EOS R mirrorless camera. Since I bought only 1 new RF lens with my R and the fine RF lenses are so dang expensive, I have no choice but to use my alsofine legacy lenses. But since I bought only 1 adaptor with my camera purchase, I was stuck with the routine of mounting the adaptor on the lens, then the pair on the R, and when Id switch, one cannot simply pull the EF lens and put another on. One must pull both, but the adaptor on the second EF lens, then mount it on the camera. That made the whole routine picturemissingly SLOW. So I bought 2 of these adaptors, and at least I can now keep one on each of my 3 most regularly used EF lenses. With my favored R 24105, I now have a versatile and fairly swift for a clumsy old man tool kit
ADAM –
Solid canon build. Great option for those who have a bunch of canon glass and are already invested in filters etc. The one with the ND filter would be great but its very expensive if you already have filters for your glass.
chrisnew9088 –
Worlds better than the 3rd party solutions. Its compact, reliable, weather sealed, and very durable. End of story.
AMBER –
Received a notification when in stock. Unfortunately had to send it back was looking for a Sony adaptor for canon lenses, but fit my other Canon camera perfectly.Quick turn around and quick refund. Thank you
Dan –
Allows you to use EF and EFS lenses on the new Canon RF mount cameras. It does exactly what it says, everything works perfectly with this adapter. My four lenses work flawlessly with my Canon EOS R. And yes, it really does work with EFS lenses, the camera automatically sets to APC sensor size with those lenses. Not everything is perfect with this adapter. It adds length to your lens. The RF series is super compact, and this adapter adds stuff in the middle. It puts controls in a new spot, farther away. It looks awful with white L series lenses. Seriously horrible look. And be aware there are two other adapters. One with a control ring on it. Im not sure Id like that adapter, the ring is really close to the camera body and hard to use. The third is a drop in filter variant. Yeah, 77mm filters are expensive, you can use cheaper filters drop in. And theres an optical added bonus behind the lens element.Ive used this adapter with 2470mm f 2.8, 70200mm f 2.8, 100mm f2.8 macro, and 1.4 and 2 X teleextenders. All the lenses work seamlessly. The adapter, 2X extender and 70200mm is pretty darn big. The RF 24240 is much easier to use.
Hector –
All I wanted to know what if I could use my Tamron Sigma lenses, that I was already using on my 5DM4. Most reviews didnt really prove it. There might of been some, but I only have so much free time. After a month wait to get his, this was exactly what I was looking for. Couldnt be happier.
BIGBAND39 –
Great way to reuse old EF mount lenses from my Canon Mark III 5D. Well made and does it what it needs to do. Canon quality is second to none
Jack –
I am slowly switching to the Canon mirrorless system and have a large investment in EFL glass that I use on two 5DM4 bodies. I am not ready to retire the DSLR bodies just yet, besides the investment in the new glass is larger than I can afford. The EFEOS R adapter allows me to keep using the excellent glass I already have. One drawback is that I do find that I am removing the adapter when I mean to just switch lenses. The EFEOS R adapter does not have the additional control ring found on the new RF lenses as I wasnt really sure what benefits it offered. Now that I have a couple of RF lenses and understand what can be done with the control ring, I am not sure which adapter I would buy today. Both do a great job and dont add much weight.
CurtKin –
Works really Well, I placed a Mark only because you Have to have this Adapter for your EF lenses to Work. Overall it works great, looks good on camera. love the idea that the EOS R is the Future of Canon Cameras. Cant wait till price comes down on RF Lenses. Would love to own one. Little Pricey for me at the moment.
GREG –
This is the Basic Adaptor allowing you to use all your EF and EFS Lens on the Canon R. This put New Life into my EFS 1017 and 1755 Lens.Especially for time lapse with is done in the Crop sensor Mode. I may upgrade to one of the others with the Control Ring and a Filter drawer for Neutral Density Filters. Allowing Long exposure Landscapes, ie Moving Water.
Robert –
This is a must if one has an EOS R line camera and still wants to use the older lenses. I have not purchase an RF lens yet. This is the second adapter I have. After buying the Canon EOS R5 body, I decided I needed to second one to keep using my older EOS R body.
DAVID D –
I have used it only one day so far but it has allowed me to use a 50 mm EF lense with a Canon RP. Makes a great walk around camera. Looking forward to using it more in the near future.
Curtis –
This adapter works well with my R5 and my EF f 2.8 LIII 70200mm lens. I sold all my other EF lenses. The adapter makes shooting a bit more cumbersome but focusing speed is unaffected. This adapter enables me to still use my EF 70200mm f2.8L IS III lens on my R5 until I can afford to purchase the RF 2.8L 70200mm lens.
Sean –
This adapter works exactly as it should. My EF glass is working just as it should on my eos r. Its strong and feels as if its apart of the camera when attached. No complaints. If you have EF glass this is a no brainer.
Frank –
The Canon EF to RF mount adaptor works exactly like it is supposed to. I cant tell the difference between using an EF lens with the adaptor or using the RF lens. Keeps your old EF lens collection from becoming obsolete. Thanks, Canon
Dielon –
Good equipment, nice build quality, solid feel, no noticeable wobble. Would recommend getting the control ring version as I already miss having one on my lens.
John –
Every Canon lens I have worked flawlessly with this adapter. I was a little worried about third party lenses. I tried my Sigma 50mm 1.4 and it had what appeared to be a round picture of the inside of the lens in the middle of the picture. The trick was to turn off lens corrections which I did. To be specific, peripheral lens correction. It did the trick. This lens adapter is a must have to use existing lenses on the R series of cameras.
Rob –
This adapter works great, and is a great value. No problem connecting with any lens Ive uses. Good fit and finish. Fits tight and securely on both lens and body without play, and without being too tight. I dont have the OEM to compare it too, but I have no need to get one now since I have this.
Bradford –
Finally got my adapter I was waiting for about a month due to back order but it came just in time for the start of wedding season Its a very snug fit on my R5, which I like because it makes me more comfortable about the seal for my other lenses. No complaints here
Biobiker –
With this adapter my EF lenses work flawlessly. The autofocus is just as fast as they are when mounted to my 80D. Great adapter I will say, the one downside is not having the control ring. I have gotten quite used to the control ring on my RF lens and find myself missing it when I use my EF lenses.
Philip –
My old EF and EFS lenses work flawlessly with the EFEOS R adapter, but my Tamron 16300mm for Canon ESS mount, doesnt work at all. I was really looking forward to shooting at 480mm with the 1.6 crop factor, so I was a bit bummed by that. But with actual Canon lenses, its awesome.
Jonathan –
Solidly constructed. The new RF lens caps have to be correctly aligned with one point on the lens, otherwise they wont tighten properly. Canon has an indentation on the new caps to aid with this. Ive added red paper tape in the indentation to make it easier to identify the correct alignment in low light situations.
MNPhotoguy –
Allows me to use my Ef lenses on my R6. Still have my EF mount cameras. Focus is just as good and picks are sharp as a tack. Also improved the focus speed on my 85 EF f1.2.
AlanK –
These are in short supply at least in early 2021. Make sure you have a reliable line on one if you expect to use your Rmount camera with older lenses, otherwise youll be like me with a very expensive brick waiting for the adapter to arrive so you can start taking pictures I paid for expedited shipping and Best Buy waited 2 weeks to ship it anyway. But thats a comment on Best Buy and not the item. The adapter is sturdy Ive been using it with a 150600mm lens and no droop or light leaks. The only reason I give it Average value is because there are no optics in it, it is just a spacer for the EF lenses with electrical passthrough and no particular weather sealing. But once you drop 2k on a camera I guess canon figures you wont blink at 100 for an adapter like this.
Tong –
I had 70200 and 24105 lenses for Cannon D60. I bought a Cannon R5 mirroless recently and this great EFEOS adapter to connect my old lenses with new camera.
ArtS –
Perfect pair while you build up your RF glass and need to use your EF lenses. No issues with third party lenses like the Tamron 2470 2.8 G2. A must have if youre hoppping into the mirrorless line up with a bunch of EF lenses.

I enables me to use my old Lenses with the new R5 and R6 cameras. It works very well and it is light. It maintains perfect communication between the camera and the lenses including special functions. like Focus Bracketing. I purchased two and I may buy another one so that I wont have to change them from lens to lens all the time. If you need to have a Neutral Density or Polarizing filter all the time attached to the lens, you may want to try the Drop In model , but its a lot more expensive.

It does everything you expect it to. Lets face the facts. You will buy this adapter over a 3rd party one because it canon made.Stop reading reviews and just buy it

handy little item…. but my HONEST advice….. if you are gonna spend 4 grand on a new mirrorless camera…. go ahead and buy the RF lenses to go with the camera…. lesson learned

This adapter came with my newly purchased Canon R camera. I also purchased a new RF 24105mm f4 IS lens. But, I have an EF 70200mm f4 IS II lens that needs this adapter. And believe me, it works great. Clear, sharp and great color in my photos taken with the lens and adapter. Pretty simple.

This is def a must have for the mirrorless cameras. If you still want to use your old lenses and switch to the R5 or R6 you will need this adapter if you get new lenses for the mirrorless you wont need it.

Just loving this Canon R adapter. Allows me to use my prized Zeiss primes, Sigma Arts, and oldish EF lenses. So much utility in a small package. Canon Quality

Liked the swivel LCD screen, the lens adapter worked perfectly, better dynamic range than my Canon 6D. Did not like placement of buttons, absence of the multidirection control for focus point, touch bar is weird, and controls were sometime glitchy. I did not feel the overall difference from my 6D was worth the to upgrade, although I might be persuaded down the road when updates are made, or a pro model is introduced. I would recommend it for someone moving from a crop frame DSLR to full frame, who has excellent Canon lenses.

Im so glad Canon has this adapter available, it allowed me to upgrade from the 6D mk II to the R5 without the need to replace all my lenses at the same time. This adapter works great.

I Purchased this for the EOS R, and it works great It sports some basic weather sealing on the rear leaving room in front for the weather sealing from the lens and isnt at all loose. Very tight. When I have the camera sitting in my bag without a lens, I leave the adapter on. Its like having a small pancake lens attached, hardly takes up any room.Ive used it with both my Canon lenses and my Sigma lenses, it works perfectly well with all of them.

My EF lenses work very well with my EOD R6 camera using this adapter. The cost was a bit high, but worth paying because of the shortage of these adapters at retail outlets.

Purchased from BH for my Canon R6. Works perfectly with all of my Canon EF lenses as well as my Sigma and Tamron lenses. Lets my previous collection of lenses retain all functions on my new mirrorless camera. I use the R6 mainly for video.

Awesome adapter. Ef lenses work better on RF bodies than they did on the DSLRs.This is definitely worth it over 3rd party ones.
