At first 2 TBs seems like enough for you to save all your games that you download. Ive come to realize that I download A LOT of games and Im slowly running out of space. You do have to reformat the hard drive a little bit, but Im glad that I have this as my primary downloading location for my PS4.Looks wise, this Drive looks like any other external HD out there. It is very minimalist appeal to it, the top is black and the bottom is blue in color. It is very light compared to your other external HDs for PCs. It arrives with a USB 3.0 connector.Initial installment is very easy. You just plug it into one of the PS4s USB ports and youre ready to go. Transfer speeds is nothing remarkable about, but I do have issues with the length of the cable. It is rather short and I hate to place anything on top of my PS4, so it rests comfortable behind it.It is a great drive and it fills up really fast if you have a lot of digital content from the Playstation Store. It is a good option to have and I recommend it to anyone who is really invested in the PS store.

Bought this hard drive to store movies on and watch through my tv, its nice and quiet and well made.The lead is not standard usb to usb and has a connector similar to the samsung drives which failed on my samsung, so hoping this one fairs better, transfer times are standard for usb 3.0.The lead is quiet short, about 30cm so an extension lead might be needed for some people.Casing has a lot of blue on it as its marketed as a PS4 external addon drive, might not appeal to some, it formats to exFAT by default.Scan kept me informed of delivery progress all the way as theres delays with covid issues, so cant fault them there.

I initially was going to upgrade my internal HD for my new PS4 Pro however you would need to reinstall the original PS HD if you wanted to trade your system for credit at most legit retailers so I thought that an external HD would be the ideal solution. The WD Gaming Drive works well. Only criticism I have it that it does not have a powerdata access light. So you do not know when the PS is accessing the drive. Also, I noticed that you could hear the platter spinning from time to time. I would move the drive and it would stop.

The WD gaming drive adds and additional 2 TB of storage to your PS4 allowing something like 50 additional games to be installed. So far I have not noticed any lag in any of the games that have been installed on this drive. As far as I can tell, all of the games run the same from this external drive as they do from the internal drive.Installation was very easy and straightforward. The drive comes with a little card that has 4 steps to get the drive setup. If you follow this guide, you should not have any problems.If you are looking for some more storage for your PS4, this drive should fit the bill very nicely.

I did my research and found it to be a software issue that sony apparently refuses to fix.So i needed a quick, cheaper, easy option to keep growing my game collection. It is always giving us prompts that it has been disconnected, or needs to be repaired, despite NEVER being disconnected even once. I have had this over a year now and still works amazingly well. Ease of use is simple and takes about 3 minutes. Most people dont know, but the external hard drive port is located on the back of the ps4. So you really shouldnt be using your front ports for this device as it will run slower as well as take up a needed front port. I am already at 3.4TB of 4TB. Wish the 8TB could be used on the ps4, however it cannot be used on ps4 or ps4 pro. Design is nice, but feels fragile so I wouldnt want to drop it. Other than that, no negatives I can think of.

Game saves and data transferred at an acceptable speed. I moved about 400GB of data in less than half an hour. I would have liked a longer USB cable, as the short length doesnt allow the drive to hide while staying connected to the PS4. I use this on a daily basis, and its great for taking a lot of stress off of my PC when it comes to memory. Over flooding your PC with memory can cause issues of slowing it down. But with this it makes it so much easier to just store virtually everything onto it while attached to your PC. The connection is highspeed so you wont really notice a difference between an internal hard drive and this external one when it comes to accessing data stored in it.

Not much to say about a hard drive except that it works. I hooked it up to my PS4 to get some extra storage. FYI after you plug it in you have to go into the PS4 storage settings and choose the external hard drive as the default install location for new games.Ive been running games on it for a few weeks without any problems. Im not noticing any extra loading times or skips during the games or anything like that.

Even with many of my grandsons high data games to store, 2TB can store a lot of games.It has a data transfer rates up to 5Gbps with USB 3.0 so its even fast enough but not as fast as a SSD to play directly from the drive, but for the most part its used for storage and swapping games out on the console itself.It can also be used just as you would any external drive for portable storage and backup of all sorts of data.. documents, pics, etc.And the drive itself is only about half as thick as a pack of cigarettes and only about an inch wider and taller.Im not gonna fight with him for this drive, Ill buy one for myself LOL

This thing was a godsend. I got my PS5 right before Christmas and by New Years Eve, I already had run out of space on the HDD. Simple set up, plug in one of the back USB ports and go to the storage settings, format for external storage and its done. I download a lot of games. A lot. Problem is, I also take forever to finish these games. Not only that, but I like to play multiplayer games and those demand massive amounts of space. So, I keep having to make space for new games and having to go through the agonizing act of deciding which ones have to go. Well, the WD 2TB gaming hard drive has resolved this issue quite nicely. Adding the extra space involves reformatting the hard drive and a bit of tinkering with the PS4 settings and transferring games but in the end, it is quite easy and worth it. Now, I install all my games on the portable HDD and I do not have to worry as much about shuffling around games which I may take too long to finish if ever. I really recommend it, especially if you play multiplayer and like to try every game out there.

The HDD inside is not a standard drive. the usb interface is built into the HDD itself. has the usb 3 micro wide plug instead of a usb c. I wish the listing had more details of what you actually are buying. the label on the drive doesnt even have the rpms. This just reinforces the idea that console gamers dont care about performance.

This is a great, little portable hard drive, perfect for toting around large files or media. I like to keep my entire music collection and a large collection of movies on it and throw it in the bag with my work laptop. If I get stuck somewhere on a business trip I have everything I need to be entertained.The drive is extremely thin and lightweight, maybe a little too light. While I feel fairly safe throwing it in a bag, but the plastic case does feel a little thin compared to some other drives. Also, the blue plastic on the bottom makes it look a little like a toy.The drive comes with a matching blue USB 3.0 cable. Its meant to be used with a PS4 and matches it aesthetically. Ive used it exclusively with a PC and have been happy with transfer rates.

Solid product, does its job. Only problem I have with it is that it takes up one of your USB ports. You cannot use an aftermarket 4 port addon either. It was an easy self powered install for my XBOX One. I transferred my games onto the drive and I have fit about 64 games all ranging from 2gb to 47gb each. I achieved some decent speeds and the games load properly after the transfer. The drive has powered up each and every time I start my xbox and it loads the games properly each time. I definitely recommend this drive as it is a nice space saver design and takes advantage of the USB3.0 connection.

This is a fairly small package barely thicker than a phone but wider. One thing to note that it can run up to 35 mbps when transferring files from my slow Celeron computer with a 7200 rpm hard drive. Likewise it is compatible with the PS 4 but compatibility with the X Box remains to be seen. At two tb this disk drive is fairly sufficient to store 50 video games or lots of photos though there is a much bigger model at 4 tb. Suffice to say 2tb is more than enough for me. And from what Ive gathered the hdd is nonstandard meaning you cant take it apart and use it on your computer. Theres not much anymore to describe this nice package except that it does the job well and works as advertised. And given the reputation of Western Digital, this hdd is highly recommended for other users as well and is not limited to gamers.

Due to PlayStation games being so heavy on graphics they tend to be massive in size. Even after upgrading my internal drive to 2Tb I was surprised how fast I was still filling it up. This external HD is a great addition because you can store games you dont play that often or if you have completely used all of your internal space it is an easy way to give you more space rather than having to try and install an internal. I only have two downfalls to the drive. One is that if you leave your PS4 in standby, then the drive will stay powered unless you unplug it. The other downfall is that it uses a USB and since the PS4 only has two USBs it only leaves you with one. Usually, I use one USB for charging controller, one for headset, and this would take up a third. I supposed you can mitigate this by getting a USB expansion. Two other longterm thing I am worried about but do not have evidence to back up yet is that if it is constantly being powered it might end up breaking eventually, or it could possibly slow down due to being a spinning disk. Overall, I believe this is a great addition to the PS4 and anyone who plans on playing a lot of games will eventually need to expand their storage.

Got this for my ps4 so I could not have to keep deleting and downloading games I want to play. The hard drive would constantly say it needs to be reformatted. After doing so it would fix the issue for a day or so but then require it again. It would also say it needs to be repaired every hour or two after use. This was happening right out of the box. About a week after owning it it decided it would not work. It would not reformat or repairs would fail. Would return to Best Buy but I dont have the original packaging. Trying to work on the warranty but its made to be a hassle. Not even sure if I want to get a replacement or any WD branded hard drive.

WD Gaming drive is an external storage space that provides a 1TB of storage for you to take on the go. This unit is compatable with ps4 systems as long as you have the latest update. This unit was tested on a ps4 pro so hopefully this will help with your buying decision.The WD Gaming drive hooks up via your usb ports. Once hooked the ps4 will prompt you to format your device automatically. If you chose not to format your external drive you will then need to manually transfer your files to your external storage unit. Once the device is formatted all downloaded digital games will be stored to this. It will only store the digital game and not the actual save files for the game. This is actually a really good feature that i like the reason being is due to the fact that external hard drives have moving parts and are more susceptible to failure vs solid state or internal drives which have no moving parts. This means if for any reason your device fails all your going to lose is the actual game file and not your game progress. So all you would have to do is redownload the game and pick back up from where you last started. Nothing is worse than watching your hard drive crash and have it take down your game progress with it. One thing about external hard drives to note is that they used to be really noisy. The WD external drive is very quite to the point to where it cant be heard unless you put your ear up to the unit itself. This is a pretty cut and dry unit that allows you to upgrade your storage without having to take apart the ps4. It takes a matter of seconds to get it set up. And while external hard drives may fail faster than SSDs, WD is a company that makes really reliable gaming hard drives. While time will be the real test for the quality of this unit i have no doubt it will last quite awhile for the simple fact that it is made by WD. At this price and how easy it is to set up you really cant go wrong. If your the type of person like me, who doesnt like to buy hard copies but would rather have a digital library then this is the way to go. What makes it nice is you can download your games to the external hard drive then lend it to a buddy to upload and play whatever games you may have. This product does what its supposed to do, it expands the capability of your PS4s memory, even with the 1TB PS4 version, its not enough memory for todays game. The version of Call of Duty that I purchased took over 150 GB by it self, I own over 30 games, which you can do the math. The external hard drive isnt a luxury, its a necessity The only downfall of this particular hard drive is its transfer rate is very slow and because of that I gifted the two that I bought to my 8 year old son and my nephew. In all fairness, to be clear for the price of about 100 this product is a steal but I ended up buying a much more expensive 8 TB Avolusion hard drive which is much faster. Another benefit of the WD Gaming Drive 4TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive doesnt use its own plug in power source, once you plug in the 3.0 USB it powers up. My Avolusion has to be plugged into the wall for power.

I had the decision of this one or the PlayStation Brand EHD for one TB less if I remember correctly. I would have liked to plug it in at the rear of the console but PS VR is using that port so its plugged in at the front which is less elegant with the blue USB cable stuck permanently out the front of the console. It was extremely easy to setup and start using and now I just forget about it and it works. Really cheap for 4TB so no need to worry about game storage for a while.

This thing was great for me, I have a 2015 model PS4 Black Ops 3 Edition 1TB and have 90 of my games installed to the hard drive, naturally this space was used up fairly quickly but with the extra 4TB I was able to redownload all my earlier titles and have room for more demanding games like Modern Warfare or Fallout 4, definitely worth the extra 40 from the 2TB option for double the capacity. The loading speed and small profile work great as well, I highly recommend this and maybe a protection plan if you move the console around a lot

Heres my challenge. I asked the Best Buy agent through chat, which extended storage works with the PS5 console. I was referred to this product. I ordered this because I needed more space on my PS4. Once I got it in, I did have an issue with the cable not allowing anything to read the drive, but I switched it out with one I had on hand, then had no issues from there. I was able to plug the drive right into the PS4 and download and transfer my games right onto it. There was even a night where the power went out and I happened to have left my PS4 in rest mode, but thankfully the drive was alright and all my games were still there. Man this thing is a life saver . My PS4 was running low on storage , all you do is connect it to the USB port on your PS4 and follow instructions , have my games on it and since now my PS4 has space now , gameplay is much smoother . I highly recommend this HDD .

Installing this was super easy. The storage is amazing We dont have to worry about what games to remove so we can load and play something anymore. I only wish that it had a longer cable. Other than that, I recommend this for anyone who buys digital games.

This is a really great External Drive. Its really small, light and thin. Its easy to use, with nothing crazy to install. File transfers and running games off it prove it to be surprisingly quick for running on an external drive. The design is great and really sets it apart from other external HDDs.

This is perfect for adding memory to my PS4 at a reasonable price to boot. Very easy setup, simply plug into your console and youre good to go, though you will need to set it up through the PlayStation which took me seconds. Highly recommended.

This is a really solid drive by WD and easy to setup. You plug it in and set your save preference to this drive then whatever games you download in the future will save to this drive. I also copied any existing games onto this drive to free up my 500GB PS4. You can do so in Storage Management. This drive is so necessary now that games are 100GB and over these days. Great purchase.

A great 4TB storage upgrade for my PS4 Pro. Very easy to setup and install. The external drive is small and compact and just connect it to your PS4 via USB 3.0 port and a quick format of the drive in settings and your ready to go It would be nice if more color options were available since I have a PS4 Pro God of War Edition but I wont deduct from my rating due to aesthetics. These often go on sale to compete with Seagate and other Brands so theirs always good deals out there, just keep your eyes open

Excellent additional storage for your PS4 games. Currently using it with my PS5 and the only issue I have run into is the game update cannot find the game automatically the first time. I go to the game in my library and request the update from there and after doing that once there are no futher issues on automatic updates for that game.

The drive works flawlessly. It has no noticeable lag. It took very little time to format and set up. Its compact size makes it easy to hide.Definitely a worthwhile addition if you are storing a ton of games. Its almost absolutely necessary if you subscribe to PS and download a game or two every month.

Before I had this I had to spend hours waiting for games to be ready to play. With this drive I can have all my games ready to play in a matter of seconds. I dont have to wait to delete games Im not plying just to install a new game or an old game I want to play.

This was so easy to install and use. It is seamless. It even tolerates sudden power outages. I had a couple in the same day. It was bit more than I wanted to spend for an external drive but since it was specifically for PS4, I went ahead and got it. I am so glad I did. I am assuming I will be able to use it for other devices should I want to but for now, its right where it needs to be.

This thing was a cheap life saver. COD MW, warzone and Cold war took all my PS4 memory. This little thing allowed me to keep all my games and was easy to set up.

Device is pretty straightforward I plugged it in my PS4 and just a few tweaks to settings to automatically place my applications in there. Now I have extra storage on my PS4 for more games and applications and it is safely placed on top of my console. I have not tried attaching it and signing into another PS4 to see if it will work. I have yet to find another PS4 to use. But just for my main console use, I have now extra 2TB of storage on my PS4 Pro Easy to connect
