I have several earlier Kindles, including a couple of Paperwhites, and wasnt at all sure there was any reason to buy a newer one, until this one added water protection. I tend to be paranoid about damaging my portable electronics, so I have never used anything like this while in the tub without sealing it in a plastic zipbag. It turns out that this is great ashore as well, and I would have had no regrets at all about having bought this even if it hadnt been waterproof. It quickly became my goto ereader for almost all my reading. Ive liked to have multiple books going at once, each on its own device, so I can set one down and pick up another, rather than going through menus, but I find myself doing that less and less. I just mostly read on this guy.Not long ago, I actually paid the fee to get rid of special offers, and that has turned out to have been well worthwhile not only am I no longer burdened with distracting ads for stuff of absolutely no interest or worse, appearing to be of interest, but not delivering, but suddenly the device works pleasingly better Instead of a lengthy process of waiting and swiping and waiting and swiping, the page I was last reading is ready in about two seconds. Setting the book down and closing the sleepwake cover, then picking it up and opening the cover, is hardly different than closing and opening a book, minus wrestling with the physical bookmark. That means no pin protection at entry, but setting parental controls to block access the store should prevent unwanted purchases. I prefer to visit the store on my Chromebook anyway.I have a Kobo Clara HD as well, and it is certainly a better piece of hardware in many ways, and I do use it a lot mostly for reading articles Ive saved to Pocket from the internet, but Kobo has infrastructure issues.Adjustable color lighting is a good feature, which I have appreciated on tablets and the Kobo, and I am glad it is coming to Kindles, but it wasnt a dealbreaker. Though it might tempt me when it comes out on a Paperwhite.Overall, a good device and a rewarding purchase.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite EReader with special offers 6 8GB Black ModelB07CXG6C9W SKU6306574 very clear long battery If you own an earlier Paperwhite and its still functional there is no compelling reason to buy the Gen 4 AllNew Paperwhite Amazon misleadingly refers to this as 10th Generation. Its a 10th generation Kindle ereader but only the 4th generation Paperwhite unless a limited degree of water resistance not waterproof as they claim is important to you or you want Bluetooth capability for Audiobooks. Neither of these are remotely important nor needed by me in an ereader and Audiobooks are handled better by smaller, lighter and less power hungry devices. The additional storage is coals to Newcastle as Amazons cloud can hold any overstorage needs an owner has. Personally, I dont know anyone who has ever run out of onboard storage on any Kindle, including the very first keyboard models, despite loading them with hundreds of books. The much touted, by Amazon, thinness and lightness of this edition is, in my opinion, overblown. Yes it is slightly thinner and slightly lighter but not paradigm changing. Also beware the supplied micro USB cable packaged with mine will not fit into the device, maybe yours will. All in all I find it breathtakingly stupid andor venal of Amazon to ship a device so poorly engineered and quality controlled as to not have a functional charging cable.

I didnt like the new Kindle Paperwhite as well as the old Kindle Keyboard that I have. The new Kindle has too many ads. Viewing the list of books was very awkward. You could either look at your collections or your entire list of books. On the old Kindle there were no ads and you could view your collection along with those book that werent yet in a collection. Also, if you removed a book from the old Kindle, you no longer saw it. On the new Kindle I removed a book, but it still showed up in the list. I remove books I dont want to read for whatever reason. I dont always remember the names of these books. On the new Kindle those book titles still show up, so you begin reading them again only to discover that its the book you dont want. It was very confusing. The only thing I liked about the new Kindle was the fact that the screen was backlit so you could read at night without extra lighting. There were more cons than pros for me, so I ended up returning the new Kindle Paperwhite and sticking with my old Kindle Keyboard.

My husband got me this for Christmas. I havent been able to have the chance to read. with how busy I am, I know if I bring a book itll stay in my purse or my desk and most books are not small enough, pages get dirty and wrinkled. I got it as an early Christmas gift and i started using it to read a book Ive been wanting to read and finish and I was done in about a week. It reads like a book and it gives you the feeling of Im actually reading a paper back its small enough to keep in your bag and youll find yourself picking it up more often to read than picking up your phone. I wanted to cry because it felt so good to read again. I finished my first book in years since I graduated from college. The battery is awesome youll be reading for days until your next charging. I truly recommend. Oh, and digital books actually save you money vs buying the physical book. Youll also save lot of shelf space.

This is my very 1st kindle. I used to read books on Wattpad and wanted to try kindly. After much research I went with Paperwhite since it meets my requirment. Things to note it dose not dupport 5G. It is quite intutive to use it and if you buy from anywhere except amazon you can redeem 2 months of free kindle unlimited. You can only download 10 books at a time. Can connect with Goodreads through Kindle and you can also read your downloaded book on your kindle app on your iphone. Battery can last upto 34 days if you are reading 58 hrsday.

Love it Much better and more comfortable to hold and read compared to your mobile phone screen or PC screen It has adjustable screen light, dark and light mode for night and day reading, can also convert PDFs to read them easily on the ereader Can change font and word size for us blindER folks and its very good for people who want to spend LESS on books and have MORE space for them at the same time I am personally very happy with my purchase

Pros It is easy on the eyes no matter the lighting conditions. It is quick to search for things inside a book and to make notes.Cons The battery runs down faster than it says it should. I havent found a way to turn off the internet on it easily or at all, so maybe this is the issue. I have to add this review is being written by someone who owned one of the original kindles, and I am still getting to grips with this new one, which I dont like in some ways simply because it isnt my old one that I understood how to use so well. Couldnt live without a Kindle so when my old one finally died I had to move up series.

My first ereader. The screen is very good, as is the battery. From day to day it uses only about 8 of its charge. You can sideload pdf files but its tricky to scroll the pages. Better to convert them to mobi format first. Surprisingly the Kindle doesnt read epub files. They too have to be converted to mobi. Ive loaded 2.8G of files without any issues. I like this device because it is dedicated to reading and doesnt distract me with access to the internet. This is a refurbished, older model of Kindle but works well. No problems.

Yes the NEW Kindle Paperwhite is the best thing since sliced bread. This is a replacement, the battery in my original wouldnt charge after some 16 months, John Lewis changed it with no quibble. This new Kindle is superb, it, and its predecessors have been part of my life for about 12 years. I now have some 1400 books either in cloud or on the Kindle itself.I can read it anywhere especially since they introduced the light setting.I cant imagine being without it, I didnt think I would be preaching the eReader doctrine but when you have that many books to hand its unbelievable. You can choose what you feel like reading and dont have to tote heavy books around. If you are a waverer then go for it, you wont be sorry

Got this as a Mothers day gift for my fiance. She usuallu reads her stories on her phone, and she always mentioned these things to me. She loves it, and she now enjoys reading on this any time she gets. She would rather read real physical books, but these are very convenient whenever she cannot get to one. Great little product.

This is a life changer for a reader. Its amazing to be able to take one small and light device and bring multiple books with you. The eink display and backlight make reading more comfortable than a traditional book. Its also easier to hold than a traditional book. I have some nitpicks, like the awkward position for the sleepwake button, but overall so happy with this Kindle.

This is an upgrade for me. The book is lighter to hold than the earlier paperweight. I bought it to read in the bath incase I dropped it The pages are clear to read and I like the ability to easily change brightness, print size and fonts. It is very good to read late at night as their is no in your eyes glare and very little light to illuminate the room. I would personally like to see the page turn facility that I enjoy on my iPadphone. I have the 8GB version and I currently have some 1800 books with about 120 of thembeing multiple book collections downloaded and Istill have 1.9GB of memory left. If you are looking for a reasonably priced ebook to read around water this is one you should consider. You dont have to buy Amazon books as it will happily accept downloads from Calibre. Plug your kindle to your computer, open calibre, highlight book you want to move to kindle, right click, scroll to send to device and click and the book will miraculously appear in kindle.

The all new waterproof Kindle Paperwhite 2018 is an improvement over all of the other ones out there. I have had no glitches so far other than the battery percentage not showing when it is supposed to, but am waiting for an update on that.I traded my Oasis in for this because the battery drained whenever I wasnt using the device and it was too heavy.I cant tell if the battery on this device is different since I keep refreshing it to try to update it, but the screen has no shadows at the bottom. That was one thing I hated about the previous Paperwhites. Its not as good as the Oasis, but this is still a GREAT option for less money. This is more like a waterproof Voyage without the buttons if you want to know which device it is similar to. Ive had all three devicesI like how smooth the screen is compared to the other Paperwhites. It is lighter and thinner, and the waterproof feature does work. I only wish this had comfortpro night time mode but I have a Kobo for that. Amazon did a good job with this device.I also liked getting the free months of Kindle Unlimited That was a nice bonus. So far I havent had any pinhole issues either, this was a common problem on the Voyage.Id recommend this to anybody who has wanted an Oasis but held out because of the price. I think this is a good compromise between the Voyage, Oasis and Paperwhite. It has a little bit of everything from those devices, minus the buttons.

My wife hates me, but she loves the life I help provide for her. Including this Paper White reader that I got her for her birthday. Im not sure what fantasyland stories she reads on it that make me seem inferior to her, but whatever they are, they look good on the screen and the unit itself seems to feel pretty good in my hand when I move it from her side of the bed, to sleep alone. The soft white light illuminates her face, just like the way I used to be able to do when she cared. Overall Id recommend this product. Especially if your marriage has lost its luster, and you or your wife hide inside phony fantasy books about perfect relationships and families.

Love this Kindle I havent always been a big reader, but I wanted to start reading more before bed to help me get to sleep faster instead of getting stuck on my phone. The light can get as dim completely off if you need or as bright as you need. Text appears crisp on the screen which makes reading easy on the eyes. Screen refresh time and response time of touching things on the screen is reasonably fast and fluid for an eink display.

I read a lot and I mostly read ebooks and articles on my computer. After about an hour, I would get a headache from the blue light and eye strain. But reading from the kindle paper white, my eyes feel significantly better. I sometimes read from pdfs that I import into my kindle that have small text. The 7th gen kindle paper white does not have a function where I can make the text bigger without cutting off text at the edges of the page so thats a limitation with reading PDFs. The battery life is pretty good. I read about maybe 12 hrs per day on it and I havent had to recharge it for a week now. It still has a lot of charge left. Its also light so my hand doesnt get tired of holding it in front of me when Im on my bed reading. Overall, I really like this product.

Im really pleased with the kindle. It is almost a perfect product. The only downsides are the placement of the power button, which is directly under the pinkie when you hold it in such a way that you would hold a phone. Absolutely stupid design solution. The other downside is the front light, its a little too greenish for my liking, when reading in shade it looks a little too synthetic. But besides these minor annoyances, the device performs really well. Highly recommend

I love Kindle, have always had one since the first edition. This is my third PaperWhite version of the Kindle. The battery life is nonexistent. If you leave the WiFi option on, it drains the battery life within 910 hours even if you are not using the device. If you disable the WiFi, the battery life lasts a bit longer approx 3days using the device 23 hours a day.

For the last 5 or 6 years Ive been using a 3rd generation kindle the one with the keyboard I loved it, easy to use and navigate. I always read at night and having the bedside lamp on until the early hours disturbed my husband. So I asked him to buy me a new kindle for my birthday, one with a backlight so I didnt need the lamp, and this is what he got me… Its taken me a few weeks to get used to it, loading my books into collections again, working out what downloaded, all, and the little ticks by the books all meant helps if you read the built in manual I suppose but Im slowly getting to grips with it. The definite bonus is the backlit screen. No more lamp needed, and I can read to my hearts content, in the light, in the dark, in bright sunlight… Its good. Id prefer it if the books Ive added to collections, didnt then still show up in my library as individual books as well as it confuses me and I have to then skip pages in the library to find another book I want to read where as with the 3g once in a collection, they didnt show up unless you opened that collection… Sometimes when I tap the screen to turn the page, if I havent tapped further enough over to the right of the screen I end up turning the previous page rather than to the next page, which is a bit frustrating, but over all Id give it a thumbs up 4 stars.

Having replaced my old Kindle 2 with the newish Paperwhite 2018 model, I was surprised at the light weight and smaller screen. But that is what I had hoped for, and reading with it is nearly effortless. The touchscreen responds nicely, and it is handy to turn pages by just rotating my thumb in a little. No mechanical buttonsNot that I will be reading in the bathtub, the the waterproofness of the Paperwhite is a nice feature it means that it will keep out dust and first, too.I would buy another Kindle Paperwhite 2018 without hesitation.

Ive had a Kindle for years. I upgraded to a Fire HD 8 like 3 years ago but was never satisfied with the Fire OS or the battery life. Moving back to the Kindle Paperwhite was the best thing ever for my reading life. The battery is awesome. I love the backlit screen for reading in low light conditions. This device answered all my issues. I would say the only drawback Ive found is the location of the power button at the bottom. I always have to keep in mind not to hit it with the palm of my hand based on how I hold the device onehanded.

I currently have the old Kindle 3g, and my partner was dying for a basic Kindle just like it. He doesnt need any of the bells and whistles, and this was perfect. It is simple, intuitive, and does the job a better version of my old 3g. The back lit screen is the perfect update. Its an eReader, perfectly simple and perfect for someone who just wants to read.

I acquired an older kindle this month and enjoyed the experience so much that I upgraded to this version with illumination for low light reading. Its also waterproof so I can read in the bath. I was replacing my old Kindle that died. I used it to download books from my library. It worked fine I downloaded and read several books. When I went to read more books from my local library they wouldnt download. I checked out why I discovered that Amazon will not allow access to CloudLibrary you have to join Kindles library at 10monthYou need a Kindlefire to use the library. Im not a happy camper. A waste of money. Thanks Amazon. Allow access to CloudLibrary

After much back and forth trying to decide between the Paper White and the Oasis, I decide on the PaperWhite. But after one week I took it back and paid the extra amount for the Oasis. The reason is there is not much room on the side to hold the device without your thumb touching the screen. Then with each page you have to lift your thumb and press the screen. That got annoying after awhile. It feels like you dont have much grip and you are having to gently hold on while also lifting your thumb to turn pages. The Oasis with the page turn buttons are much easier for me and I dont have to think to turn a page. lifting your thumb sounds like nothing but the device is so small it takes some effort to accomplish and not drop the device.. Also I really enjoy the warm white screen the Oasis has. Id say if you just want to try an eReader or give as a Gift then get the Paper White, but if you want to read every day for 30min or an hour get the Oasis.

This is a great device The ad version is not as annoying as I thought it would be. The paperwhite is a true pleasure to read from. It is easy on the eyes and feels like you are reading from a real book. The letters are crisp and clear. It is incredibly light weight and the battery lasts a long time between charging. I honestly cannot tell you how long because you forget after a while and suddenly remember you should charge it, but Ive never been left without enough juice for reading. It is nice, too, to get the cheaper digital copy of books versus the physical copy. I bought this for my wife who is an avid book reader. She long preferred physical books, but she likes this device a lot.

I am an avid reader and adore the new paperwhite To me, its the perfect reader. No light bleed thru, easy to control the amount of backlight, easy to download books and simply just easy to read my books. It did not come with the very latest software uploaded but within 24 hours of being connected to my WiFi, the kindle updated itself. Honestly, Ive never purchased a smart phone that didnt need an update within minutes of activation…Android or Apple.

I bought this Paperwhite to replace an aging Kindle 3 that worked mostly through a push button and keyboard. I did not have to move my hand to turn a page. This touchscreen model requires the use of two hands at all times to use it. The touch screen is quite sensitive and the smallest unintentional touch either turns a page, turns a page the wrong direction, invokes highlights, Wikipedia or a dictionary whether intended or not. I liked my old model a whole lot more. That said, having an illuminated screen is nice.

Great product Slimline, light and can even fit in some of my coat pocketsThe back light is great. Makes reading a pleasure and less straining on eyes but still possible in dark conditions. Can change font types, add the time to your reading page, change the display at bottom of reading page to show either page no, time left in book, time left in chapter or nothing.Have been reading it all week at least 30min1hr each day and still have about 75 battery.I love my new kindle.

The yesno isnt really fair. Am a voracious speed reader and can comfortably get through 8 10 books a day. So needed a long battery life. Well its advertised as the battery can last for weeks. In my case absolutely not The back light is good. The size is comfortable and easily slips into a coat pocket. recommend purchasing a cover and screen protector at the same time just to keep item clean and protected All the usual bells and whistles are there. I recommend it but dont think it was value for money. about 30 LESS the price paid would be more reasonable.

I love to read so although i do prefer a real book the kindle is a better option for me as I never find myself without a book. I can electronically check out ebooks from my library. There are many sites to buy free ebooks. At night if I cant sleep, I dont even need to turn on a light since the screen is backlit. I appreciate that I can change font and light settings to make it easier for me to read. The battery has a decent life. One downside is that sometimes the screen can be pretty dark despite increasing the setting. It does seem with use that the screens brightness does diminish but other than that Ive had no problems.

I brought a Kindle many moons ago when they first came out and was so overjoyed by the concept of having many books in one place whilst taking up less space in my bag. Over the years, Ive had a total of three different Kindle devices, all with a couple of years in between so it was easy for me to see the evolution and improvements made to the devices each time. The device itself would be 5, but Im giving this a 4 review for the following reasons The first two of my Kindles have broken around the 1420 month mark. This is, unfortunately, just outside of the 12month warranty period and therefore Amazon wont replace or refund and Ive had to buy another one. At first, I thought it was just my bad luck or that something squished the screen in my bag but Ive seen a lot of people actually have the same problem. I originally brought a kindle because of the easiness of only having to carry a small device around and not a potentially chunky book, but even then I missed the smell, the texture, and the general excitement of holding and turning pages of a real book.. and therefore the Kindle never fully replaced paperbacks and I only used the Kindle 40 of the time.. which isnt very cost effective. Books arent always cheaper to buy on the Kindle, and you also miss out on the opportunity to sell on or donate once youve finished the book. Amazon have for a while now had a free Kindle app available on both Android and iOS devices.. and as I have an iPad, its somewhat cheaper for me to just download the app and use my tablet in the same way as a Kindle. Overall, the Kindle is a fab device and an awesome idea, but I guess it really depends on personal preference and just how much of a bookworm you are.

The Kindle works amazing for the price. It gives me a feel of a normal book except for the small unfortunately. Can be used both in the sun and in the evening. Battery life gets me about 1.5 weeks and I read a few hours every day. Use is straight forward and simple. Small and easy to bring with you for a walk to the park or on the tube. Able to store multiple book at a time. Super happy

this is an excellent ereader. It has an excellect screen, easy to use controls, lots of fonts and sizes, and of course easy access to millions of books from Amazon. Unlike my many other models of Kindles, this one often reboots, sometimes saying power problem although at 90 power. Its aggravating. The other problem with all Kindles is collections its awkward, hard to use, and about useless. Just give us directories and subdirectories or call them folders and subfolders. So I can have a subdirectory fiction, under it a subdirectory science fiction under it a subdirectory time travel under it all the authors writing about time travel having a subdirectory of their books. I could hook my kindle up to a computer and setup all my books in a logical easy to find system in no time at all. If you have a couple of dozen books it may be ok, but if you have hundreds or thousands of books collections are useless.

Having had iPads and lots of tech I can say that Im totally converted to the reading experience on the Paperwhite. Its so relaxing on the eyes and makes a good companion to a tablet for generally purpose use. I already had one of these but my daughter wanted to try it and I was reluctant to part company with it so I bought a second one. One thing to note is that the device delivers ads on the Lock Screen unless you pay Amazon another 10 to opt out well worth it for the lovely screens.

My ancient kindle stopped charging after about 8 years. It didnt have a backlight so this one is a step up.My only problem is that the text large size is still small to me. I could read my old one comfortably without my reading glasses because there was no limit to the size. This might be a problem for me in future years Im 67 because I have to remove one of my contact lenses before I go to sleep and I tend to read until Im about to doze off.I wish there was another option for big print.Otherwise I like my newer version of my kindle paperwhite would have given 5 stars now that Im getting used to having to tap right of the screen to turn a page whereas before there were thumb buttons on both sides of my old one so that I could turn forward with the bottom button on either side depending on what hand I was holding it in and back with the top button.Sometimes I inadvertently touch the screen while just holding it so have to find my page.I suppose it will just take some getting used to for more than the 4 nights Ive used it so far

This was purchased for my aunt who is in her 80s. She wanted another Ereader to replace one she had that broke. We decided to get this one because of the nonglare surface and then thin size. This is not an easy to maneuver device and it is difficult for my aunt to learn how to move around once she is on it. The print is way too small on the home screen and in the library and when you are searching for books. There is no way to make that font larger, only when you are reading a book. She is keeping it because the size makes it convenient for traveling, but I dont know that I would recommend this for an older person or for someone who has trouble reading small font. I am in my 40s and not quite into reading glasses but I had a hard time reading the font.

I wasnt sure how I would feel about it since I love physical books so much. But with Kindle subscription, there are a ton of free ebooks to borrow that I took the plunge when it went on sale. I actually love this little device so much more than I expected to It is so much easier on my eyes since I get a lot of screen time these COVID days. Anyone else suffering from crazy eye twitching I also love how lightweight it is and easy to throw in my back pocket or smaller handbag. The reason I knocked off a star is because there is a bit of lag or flashing when the screen transitions between menus. But it isnt bad when youre flipping a page in a book. Also expect to have a difficult time connecting to WiFi if youre traveling. Many hotels require a login on their webpage, which the Kindle wasnt able to open for me. So make sure you have what you plan to read already downloaded, or have personal hotspot activated on your phone. Allinall, I honestly think its worth having Moreso if you find it on sale and are a subscriber to Kindle Unlimited.

Waterproof and light, bought this one for in bed and bathtub reading to use instead of the Oasis 2. The oasis 2 is just to big and heavy for comfortable reading. The biggest con for this model is that the power button is on the bottom edge right in the middle. This results in a lot of accidental pressing from, what is for me, the most natural way to hold the kindle. Essentially onehanded with the lower edge resting on my pinky finger. The pixel quality is obviously not as good as the oasis, but its fine. The original Oasis is still my favorite by far and is the one that lives in my backpack which goes with me everywhere. The Oasis 2 is a major disappointment. One step forward with the waterproof feature, three steps back with weight, non grippy metal body, and size.Id pick this new paperwhite with its waterproofing and lightness over any of the other currently available models. I use this kindle without a cover.

I read books. I read a lot of books. I consume them when waiting for appointments, on the treadmill and for leisure. I struggled with my eyes burning and watering using a samsung tablet or a laptop computer. I tried the paperwhite and I definitely notice a difference in eyestrain. The kindle is easier on my eyes. The functionality is basic. It is for reading books. I usually shop for books on another device and just use the kindle for reading. The device battery lasts for days between charges and fires up pretty quickly.Great device for someone who just wants to read kindle books.

Pros Just so much easier than reading books. So small and lightweight to fit into the smallest of bags, mine comes everywhere with me.Cons Ive had lots of Kindles now. I had been reading books on my IPad Kindle app. However, even with the blue light background turned off I could only read for a short period before I got eye strain and headaches. Plus, I found it impossible to read outdoors in the sunlight. The Paper white Kindle has fixed all that.In addition to its smaller size I can now enjoy reading anywhere. Could not be happier with the purchase. The fact that the Kindle is waterproof is just another added benefit for the beach. I would highly recommend the device.

I read Wuthering Heights on the Kindle, the iPad, and the hard cover book, at the same time. I expected the Kindle to be better than the iPad it is lighter and should be better. But after hours of reading, on all 3 formats, the annoying features of the Kindle kill that experience theres a reason it costs 75 uncomfortable to hold, annoying flashing screen with every page turn, annoying highlight feature, multiple clicks to change brightness, multiple clicks to change books, and the so called paperwhite is in fact a dull fuzzy grey white, even though the resolution is the same as an iPad. Compare a Kindle screen to an iPad and the Kindle looks like a dinosaur. Use the iPad Kindle app before making a decision. Kindle is great software but Kindle hardware is not.

This was a replacement for an old Gen 3 kindle that finally died. This was the cheapest one I could find and it was a good buy.Several changes to get used to but I like the lite color of the screen that works in dark areas. There are more font choices and sizes for the font. The only thing that is kind of a pain is the off button. You have to hold down the power button and then confirm that you want to turn it off by touching the screen. I would recommend this for someone who is only interested in reading books and not trying to surf the web. It take a little getting used as do most things that are a replacement after 15 years.

Bought this as a gift. I have an older one and it works great, much better than a standard kindle. Makes reading under varied lighting conditions much easier. I still find that reading with no ambient lighting still bothers my eyes, seeming disorienting somehow. This version of the Kindle is still worth the money in my opinion.

Having contemplated buying an ereader for a while, I found a Kindle Paperwhite 10th generation at good price, so took the plunge. Very happy with the purchase. Screen resolution is excellent, easily readable outside in bright sunlight and indoors with artificial illumination. Weight wise the Kindke feels significantly less than a large paperback, and is easier to hold.Cannot comment fully on battery life, but intermittent reading 1 and a half books over a week and a half and still nearly 50 capacity left. Also cant comment on waterproofing, but would seem a useful feature countering possible bath or poolside accidents. Or even leaving in the rain A shame one cant upload books from libraries in the UK through LibbyOverdrive, but maybe thatll change in future

I purchased Kindle Paperwhite for the purpose of reading my own language books. I made some research before i decided to buy this model. It perfectly meets my needs. Now i can download any books i like for free and i really enjoy reading Kindle book everyday. The only regret is i shouldve purchased this earlier so i can enjoy reading it long time ago.

My last Kindle product was from 2010, so this upgrade was amazing I love the ability to control the brightness of the backlighting, the ability to reverse the light to dark mode…and have loved the battery life I paired mine with a leather case and feel like Ill own this product for another 10 years. I also got the kindle with ads included for a cheaper price and have not been bothered by ads being on the lockscreen. If youre not annoyed by ads on your lockscreen, or if you plan to use a case, Id definitely recommend getting the cheaper paperwhite that has ads included.

I feel I need to approach this review from 2 perspectives1. If you are somewhat new to the Kindle experience and you bought this one.2. If you are a previous Kindle or Paperwhite owner and upgraded to this one.If you are NEW TO THE EXPERIENCE or upgrading from an old Kindle like a Keyboard, welcome. This new Kindle merits 5 stars. Youre going to love it. Here are some Kindle Paperwhite features youll enjoy Built in light. Reading in bed while someone is trying to sleep next to you is now an easy joy. Touch screen. Getting around your Kindle is easy. Turn pages, shop in the store, all by touching the screen. Waterproof. This is a new feature to this Kindle. Bring it in the pool worry free Bluetooth. Sync this up with a speaker or headphones to have a book read to you.Besides that, this Kindle is thin and light. It doesnt fatigue your hand at all. The fonts are adjustable for size. The light is adjustable for brightness. The color of the light is somewhat grayish. My older Paperwhite had the blueish hue which I found a little unnatural. I bought the Amazon case and when you close the cover the Kindle automatically sleeps and when you open the cover it automatically wakes up. I find this Kindle to be a little faster than the previous version. If this is your first Paperwhite there is only reason to be content with your purchase. Now, if you are UPGRADING FROM AN OLDER PAPERWHITE Id still be happy Im still glad I did upgrade but there were a few things that made me go hmmmm.First off I expected this Kindle to have the latest software. It didnt. Im waiting for the update where the home page scrolls and you could save font themes. Why doesnt a brand new Kindle not have the latest software Not a deal breaker because I know the update will be coming, but my old Paperwhite was updated. Last time I checked the update page it didnt even show the update for this version. A little disappointing.Secondly, I had the Paperwhite from a few versions ago, the one with 212 ppi. Upgrading to this one with 300 ppi, I expected the font to be sharp, bold, and clear. Well, Ill just say that it didnt stink. Actually I found it to be a little greyed out, a little washed out to say it another way. Now, this is totally adjustable of course. The font could be bolded and size changed. But again, a little disappointed. The software is exactly the same as my older version, minus the upgrade of course. I wish Amazon would give us more fonts to choose from. I know that we could download fonts now but it would just be nice if they were built in to begin with.So my two biggest gripes are not shipped with the latest software and underwhelming font sharpness. From this perspective Id give it a 3 12 or 4 star rating. But having said that I have no regrets upgrading at all. I would do it again. The Paperwhite experience in general is something I find amazing. When Im finished with a book I go right to the store and check out samples, download free classics, or pull the trigger on a purchase based on my mood right then and there. I wouldnt trade it for anything. If you are new to Kindle or upgrading from a really old one dont let my gripes deter you. The Paperwhite is the gold standard of ereaders. At an affordable price youre getting this gold standard. And since this Kindle boasts being waterproof, bluetooth, being thinner and lighter, and with 8gb of storage, its a no brainer.

This Kindle Paperwhite is perfect for those who want to read more books without buying physical copies of everything It is smaller than normal paperback books, but I love the size because it can fit in purses and bags easily It is made of pretty durable material, but I read reviews that said the screen can scratch and mess up the LED backlights, so I decided to put the Amazon leather case on it. The dictionary feature even works without WiFi Plus, Im able to send digital books from my public library to my Kindle Paperwhite for free Definitely worth the buy for lovers of reading

I filled my original kindle and kept on getting messages to upgrade it. I bought this Kindle Paperwhite for the 32GB memory. Last night I tried to turn it on, but it wouldnt. I tried many times, with no luck. I had just charged it earlier, so knew it had at least 95 charge on it. I finally held the on button for a long time to hard start it. It worked after that, however, it jumped around a lot sending me to the review the book. Once you get there, it wont allow you to get to any other page until you rate it. I had just started the book and didnt have enough info to rate it. It is very annoying and I wish they would just offer more memory on the original Kindle.

I am very satisfied with this purchase. It is small and lightweight so it is easy to take along anywhere. I am not having any difficulty seeing the lettering it has adequate lighting. Navigating the settings has also been quite simple, and the battery lasts for several days and charges quickly when I do need to charge it. Overall I am very happy with this.

I have forever been against ereaders because I love a physical book. However, with COVID, I decided to give a kindle a try. And I hate to admit it but Im obsessed At first I was surprised that the internal processor seems to lag a little bit, and that the kindle does not have any color yes everything is in black and white. However, it does what its supposed to do and nothing else which I have come to enjoy. When I would read on my phone or iPad, I would always get distracted with other features.

Very easy on the eyes. Responsive, great battery life. This is to replace my previous 2012 model Kindle which is still working well but I decided to upgrade for more storage and battery life. Plus, since this new one is waterproof, I can use it while floating in the pool. I expect this one to last as long as the last.

As someone who enjoys reading I have always preferred the physical thrill of having a paperback or hardcover resting in your hands. However it isnt do convenient when youre often commuting or travelling to have a big book in your bag. Hence it was with some trepidation that I bought the Kindle Paperwhite from MediaMarkt NL. Honestly I am so glad I did. The device is marvelous and convenient and has encouraged me to read more actively with less distractions than if I was reading from my phone. I still love physical books but the Kindle Paperwhite is ideal for guzzling down big books which you dont have space for yet want to take on travels with you. Surprisingly MediaMarkt had the Kindle Paperwhite cheaper than it was on Amazon.de. I chose this over the most basic model because of its lighting. The text is sharp and crisp and its very convenient when you have data at the bottom of the page telling you how much time you have left to completing chapters. The onhand dictionary is convenient too and will compile words you dont know into flashcards as a game for later use so you can build up your vocabulary. My review is in English because mijn Nederlands is niet zo goed but hopefully everyone on the fence thinking about buying a Kindle will understand. Just get it if you dont own an e reader. Chances are you wont regret it.

I do most of my Kindle reading using the Kindle app on my iPad Mini 5 or iPhone, but I dont like looking at a device backlit screen while reading at night, even with Night Shift turned on. The Kindle Paperwhite is great for reading anytime, but I like to use it in bed for night reading. I have a lowwattage incandescent lamp on my nightstand, and while using the Kindle, I turn its backlight all the way down so much easier on these middleaged eyes Pageturning response is pretty fast, compared to older Kindle models. Standby battery life is pretty long. I recommend also buying Amazons standard case for it, which provides good device protection.

The title mentions special offers, which is a kindle program that displays ads on the lock screen. In order to remove it you have to pay approximately 20 dollars. Its an amazon deceptive offer, that is generally sold by default together with the kindle without clearly explaining what it is. To buy a kindle without special offers, you need to actively opt out and this will increase the price by 20 dollars. But again, in the product description they dont tell you what special offers means, and you might think that the offer refers to the kindle

My Kindle Oasis 2017 died on me unexpectedly. I could not justify the repurchase of an Oasis given the price and decided to opt for its lower cost brethren. I have been insanely pleased with this device. At the time, the Oasis was the only waterresistant Kindle on the market, but the paperwhite joined that fold. I thought Id miss the physical page turn buttons, especially as a lefthanded person. However, Amazon has given a very generous amount of space for the next page hit box which makes onehanded reading very easy.It keeps the same amount of dpi as the Oasis and I do enjoy the matte finish on the back over the metal backing of the Oasis. Overall, very happy with this device and happy to have an ereader again.

Was going to give it 5 stars but decided to save my hyperbole for when I really needed it. The only issue I have with it is the comparitively slow screen response when typing. That might just be my long experience with much faster electronics like smartphones and computers. Otherwise, great screen, easy to read in all light levels, portable, I can pull out any book I want at any time without having to carry an entire library with me, and the battery life is excellent. I had been trying to read things on my phone but between the screen brightness and glare straining my eyes, the inability to see the words in bright light, and the utterly terrible battery life of my phone it just wasnt a carefree, enjoyable experience. The Kindle Paperwhite has the ease of use of paper books without the drawbacks.

I bought this device to upgrade from a 2nd edition Paperwhite. This new version runs much faster, and the interface is mostly the same. All my books transferred over once I set up my account, so no problems there. If this is your first Kindle, I recommend getting the kindle unlimited on Amazon. There are a ton of free books, and you can borrow up to 10 at a time.Screen is great for reading in any condition, and adjusting the font size or brightness is easy to do. I highly recommend this device

This is my 4th Kindle. Im in the military and currently deployed, so I did not want to get a new unit. I lost my 3rd Kindle, and did not want to risk the same with a new unit. When I saw this 7th Generation Kindle I knew that it would fit the bill. Reviews gave its screen and the 8th Generation screen the same reviews. I dont need waterproofing out here in the desert. The backlit screen is a nice option. I have it turned down to save the battery, but it was adequate. With it turned down the battery life is very good. The unit has auto updated its operating system a couple of times. I hope this will not become an issue. Are there really several updates, or are the updates not taking Im going to guess the first, because the unit operates flawlessly. This unit came with a genuine Kindle case. It fits perfectly, of course, and makes the unit feel sturdy…like it is in an Otterbox type of case. It is heavier than my previous Kindle with its 3rdparty case. All that said, I like it, and am pleased with my purchase.

Ive been reading library ebooks on my phone, and decided to upgrade to a Kindle. I got this on sale, I think it was around Prime day, with an additional discount from a Best Buy coupon I got in email. I like that it has a light, but wish it autoadjusted to ambient light levels. Also, when I come across something in a book that I want to know more about, searching for information is better on the phone app than the Kindle device. For example when the name of a character comes up and I cant remember who is who, sometimes that information is built into the ebook, but sometimes you need a web search, which is easier on a smart phone. However, the kindle is better for reading at night because its less disruptive to sleep. Also it is lightweight and the battery lasts much longer than a phone, with less opportunity for distraction. Instead of a regular case I got a popsocket which has made holding the kindle in bed pretty convenient. Someday postcoronavirus I imagine Ill want to bring it to work with me to read on breaks, in which case I think Ill look for a protective sleeve for stuffing it in my bag.

Not is as intutuive to use as the older models. You must read the instructions. It does not have audio it will not read you the book unless you wish to pay for a 15.00 a month subscription. In older models it was included and would read you any book with an option of voices with a choice of voice options. The print is much better than older models. Battery life is very good. Detailed pictures, like Maps , are just too small and require the actual hard copy book to study. In my option it is a little over prices and the cost of kindle book is to much.

Hardware is light. Added case from Best buy. Opening case starts warm up and opens current book after a brief pause from sleep. Opens to page you left on. No page turn button but a simple tap turns page or you can swipe. Tapping top of page brings up menu, then tapping below menu returns to page. Closing cover puts device in light sleep mode first and then deeper sleep if not reopened.Software has 2 limitations. I downloaded 2 books onto my Win 10 laptop that were free for Amazon Prime members but 9.99 otherwise. I could not download them onto my reader. I really enjoy using the Kindle. Its my first one so Im not sure what to really expect but it is such a convenience to use compared to a standard book. I always was one for regular paper books but the Kindle has sold me. However a minor issue that I have with this Kindle is the placement of the power button. Its an annoyance to have it placed on the bottom on the Kindle because my finger often presses it. Whoever designed that needs to rethink it for the future Kindles. Also the battery life is really good but I doubt that it lasts as long as advertised a month but it still does last long enough for me not to ever worry about charging it.

Love I have been debating on purchasing a Kindle for over a year, however I am the type of person who loves a physical book. With Covid, it was hard to go to a bookstore to browse, or at times the stores were closed. I read extremely fast, so the price of purchasing physical books storing them was becoming difficult. I finally decided to purchase this Kindle Paperwhite when Target had a 15 off deal 10 one electronic 5 off with my RedCard. Such a great deal, with free 2 day shipping also I have only been using the Kindle for a handful of days, but I am loving it. So lightweight, easy to clean, affordable prices for books, and this fixes my issue of being limited on space for storing more books A wonderful product, which would also be a lovely book for the avid reader in your life.

I am still learning all the navigation as it is not quite so easy as the early models but will be once I am used to it, Im sure. Purchased at Black Friday promotion price of 85. I wanted the Twilight Blue color but was not available in store, so I bought the standard black eyeing a later exchange for the blue to secure the promotion price. My goal was to use a recycle 25 coupon, but no dice because the promo was only applicable towards the regular retail price. Oh, that blasted fine printThe device has a bit of a learning curve for those new to ereaders or those upgrading from prior models. Slightly disappointed in the number of newspaper and magazine options, but thats not necessarily a fault of the Paperwhite. The text is very easy to read, and pages are easy to navigate once you learn the controls, Device is lightweight in the hands, particularly compared to older Kindle models. This is great to reduce eye strain from blue light exposure, and to allow yourself distraction free, focused reading.

I love books, but find them too fragile and cumbersome to read all the time. Ive been reading every day after I got the Paperwhite, and I love it. The system is slow, but the main gig is book reading, which it does perfectly. When the backlight is turned off it genuinely looks like a book page. I read it for hours with 0 eyestrain, unlike with LCD screens. Very portable and light, very comfortable to hold. Youll mostly buy books from Amazon Book Store, which provides many options.

Pros Back light could be useful and is adjustable and not harsh as some reviews claim. Battery life good if you turn off light and use Airplane mode ie turn off wifi, I have read two books and theres still 27 left. Touchscreen does work well if you learn how to tap in the right places.Cons Most of all hate tiny grey replicas of the book covers that replace the printed list of books. No one could read the titles or authors of some of them and you dont always get a title page when you go into the book so you dont know what it is I have stored quite a few cheap classic thrillers Havent Amazon ever heard of visual impairment recommendations for web pages Many people with bad eyesight use Kindles because the font size can be increased and this feature is hopeless for them.Hate the advertising which is NOT just on the screen when turned off. When you turn on theres a trashy book cover on the first page with a Read now button perilously close to where you have to swipe to wake up the kindle and theres a string of further trashy novels with a Read now button on the homepage and further advertising along the bottom of the page. Dont know what happens if you touch it and dont intend to find out. When you swipe on Your Library on the homepage you go into another full page of advertising with no sign of your books and no sign of how to get to them. Turns out you have to swipe again but I was seething with frustration I am bombarded by too many emails from Amazon already, but when I am interested in the occasional book I can read reviews. What are Amazon playing at Do they think a book cover is enough to for me to click and buyFinally the kindle does not sit so easily in the hand as the old model which was slimmer and had more margin to grip and page turning was easier with minimal movement.

Let me say that this is my first time wanting to own an EReader and I never thought I would end up owning one. Ive always been an avid manga reader and one thing I love personally is my collection and being able to physically own them. Its gotten to a point where I can no longer keep on collecting like I used to have around 900 volumes. At this point I decided why not go the digital route. I was hesitant at first but was a believer when my SO bought one and showed it to me.Ive had it for a little over 2 weeks now and have loved every single moment of it. Its a great kindle ereader. The resolution is excellent, and the backlight is very helpful. It was smaller than I expected, but it is not a deal breaker. I wish it was maybe 0.5 to 1 inch larger. My only hesitation in giving this review is padding Amazons pockets, but this Kindle Paperwhite is a great little ereadertablet. I had a 6th generation Kindle and traded it in for this, and I have found this to be easy to use and a delight to read. The screen is backlit and its brightness is adjustable for whatever light you are in. It is however, a blue light like that which comes from a computer or smartphone screen, so if you dont want the light source to affect your sleep, read with a booklight anyway. Fonts type and size are adjustable also. Highlighting is a breeze with its touchscreen start with the word you want and move the indicators to identify the part you want to highlight. Battery life is excellent I havent charged mine for over a week and Im at about 85 I didnt get too much reading in this week, though..and have no worries about having to hurry up and plug it in. Im not exactly sure how much storage I have but I do know its at least doubled from my previous Kindle. Its light and thin so it fits into my purse easily. Im very happy with this purchase and enjoy reading from this Kindle more than from my previous one. You can pick up an inexpensive cover online mine turns the Kindle Paperwhite on when you open it, then it instructs you to swipe the screen to begin reading. The menu on the upper margin allows you to check settings, and see your library. The only downside is the ads for more books, but Ive found they are consistent with my interests. You never know you might find something good on sale. Amazon has done a good job designing this reader that doesnt require a light, doesnt need a clunky arrow and button to spell words out or to make your selections. Its easy to use, and a delightful way to read and expand ones library.

This is a great Kindle. Screen is perfect comes wthe original cover has a charging cordall included in the price. I recommend that you spend a little more to get a clear screen. Really who wants to finally start enjoying reading books online wpaperwhite only to have a screen mark bother you at every page when you can get a clean screen from these guys They are a small family business I read on their description, and so they take the time to be sure what they send out is high quality. Its like having bought a new kindle for a fraction of the price

Kindle Paperwhite EReader has performed well. Easy to use and read with this device. Not hard on your eyes and can readily change settings. I like its size and lighter weight. I also like how you can highlight words and can access dictionary, translation, or Wikipedia for definitions or more information. Only slight negative I my have, and this may be the case with all ereaders, is difficulty in highlighting footnote asterisks to get the footnote information as youre reading.

Purchased Kindle at Best Buy as Christmas present. When I finally gave the present. She was able to use it for a few days. Kindle wouldnt charge. Best Buy return policy is horrible Wouldnt take back the Kindle. Amazon was only able to give me a refurbished Kindle. So paid for a new Kindle at the end of December and ended up with a refurbished Kindle at the end of February. I will never purchase anything from Best Buy

I couldnt highly recommend this enough I have the normal kindle and wish I bought myself the paperwhite version. Its so comfortable reading during bed time without having to turn the light on. I tested it during day time and no signs of glare at all. Am an old school and always prefer a physical book but at the same time having a kindle saves a lot of space and easy to use especially when travelling.

I lost my Kindle just before Christmas and bought this one as a replacement. It works just like my old one, but I am enjoying the smaller size and lighter feel. I love my Kindle and really felt like I couldnt go a day without it. I still like books, but I actually prefer reading on my Kindle now. Easier to hold than a traditional book when my arthritis is acting up. I also love that I can adjust the light level so easily at different times of the day and I love it for reading in bed without keeping my husband awake

Using the Oasis now is hands down the best ereader today But Do I want to spend that kind of money on my kids whom will toss it about, leave it on the floor, or drop it in a bin when told to put things away No So this makes a very good buy to give them all the books they need, without taking up space, and without worrying that their face will be plastered to a digital screen all day long. This is a great buy for children, take away the tablets and the phones, at least most of the time. I love to play games with my kids too but they need most of their time off of digital screens. This is perfect for helping with that And at a price that I wont feel terrible about if by chance high chance admittedly, theyre kids they break it

I bought this to replace a previous generation Paperwhite that had started developing pinpoint holes in the display that showed light through while reading. Im not a huge fan of the totally flush front. Its too easy for my thumb to slip off the edge, onto the page, inadvertently turning the page. This was never an issue with the old style Paperwhite with the lip around the edge. Other than that its great. Ive owned almost every version of the Kindle since the original in 2007. The Paperwhite is definitely the best of the bunch, but I preferred the previous version slightly.

I originally got this so I could take a copy of the Mueller Report on the plane rather than carrying the rather bulky paper version. It served that purpose well. A pleasant surprise is how easy it is on the eyes, particularly in a low light situation. Even reading in the dark is comfortable. One minor difficulty, which is more an issue with the content creators than the Kindle itself, is that some books the MReport being one lack numbered pages, so its hard to establish a correspondence between a location in the printed version and the eReader version. That being said, the Kindle does save your place when it goes to sleep.Other advantages to reading on a Kindle include having a builtin dictionary which you summon by simply touching the word you want to look up. Also, on supported books, the Xray feature allows instant access to relevant Wikipedia pages and indepth information about the book and its author. The Kindle has a plethora of Bluetooth and AudioBook capabilities, which I currently dont plan to use, but are nice to have available just the same. I highly recommend getting one of the Kindle covers that Amazon makes. Not only do they protect the unit, but simply closing the cover puts it to sleep, and opening it wakes it up. Overall, both the Kindle and the cover are high quality pieces.

Coming from tablet based Kindle App for reading books for many years over to being first time Kindle Paperwhite owner now. I was able read 2 times more books on this new Kindle without having any tired eyes. Same feedback given by my Child. So worth spent money on another tech item. No comparison between a tablet touch experience and purely a reader so iPad and other users may feel this slow and not intuitive pls treat it just as a reader.Does its job purely as a reader Build Quality is not excellent but good hence a star lessWhat I did not like was Its slow

Since everything goes digital, its time for an EReader. When I bought mine several years ago, I was pretty skeptical, but after several days I fell in love with this one. Easy to read in the dark or at bright sun. You can choose font size. You can make bookmarks and notes. For schoolkids and students it has dictionary and access to wiki if you are connected to the Internet through wifi and signed with your Amazon account. Dictionary doesnt need account nor Internet access. With Calibre free program for library management Kindle makes perfect digital library with unlimited capacity. You can add or remove books from your reader, keeping them in your library at computer, convert them to or from almost all ebook formats and a lot of other things. This one I bought as a gift and looks like it worked.

During purchase had a dilemma whether to buy paperwhite or new Kid Kindle. Since new kindle Kid edition seems attractive with features protective case one year Amazon FreeTime subscription, but purchased Paperwhite thinking I can also use.One great feature I found is…connection to library ebooks My county librarys ebook support Overdrive Kindle recommended Software to borrow eBooks from library. I borrowed a book and it came to my kindle and it also appeared in all kindle software loaded devices. Eg Iphone. The software and the touch screen effects gives a feeling of using phones which are decade old.8 GB Kindle is more than sufficient compared to 32 GB. Thousand books can be saved in 8 GB.So far Kindle serves its purpose useful product.

So I wasnt much of a reader before, but with shelterathome in effect I decided to begin reading. I started out using my iPad Mini but I wanted something a bit lighter and easier on the eyes to read at nighttime. This is super lightweight and easy to operate. Its also great for the poolside since its waterproof. I even accidentally testing that out and it still works perfectly. Ive had it over a month now and Ive only had to charge it once, with 23 hours of reading a day. If youre on the fence about it, wait until its on promo and get it. Its worth the money for sure.

Very pleased with this new ereader, its light and a handy size for popping in a pocket or bag.I really like the screen, it is none reflective and very clear . The back light is fully adjustable , as is the font. The battery life is really good between charges. My only criticism is that the casing is very smooth, perhaps too silky in texture, and it could do with an elastic band to slip your hand into to make it easier to hold .Otherwise, its brilliant

I never thought that I would enjoy having an ereader when I have an iPad that I can read on, but about 2 weeks ago I got a wild hair and bought one. I absolutely love it. There are very few issues I have with it. The big one is having to go deep into the settings to get to the invert option for a black screenwhite text. I personally feel like that should be an option in the same settings area as the brightness control. Another thing is that it could be made slightly more intuitive in the sense that things like brightness control should be faster to get to. I know it seems like Im ragging on my kindle, but Ive read more books in the last 2 weeks than I have in the last 2 months on my iPad. Mostly because its so incredibly lightweight and so much easier on the eyes while reading. I dont ever seem to want to put it down. Bottom line If youre on the fence and think a tablet will do instead, I recommend taking the plunge and getting it.

My Brother and I Bought a Kindle Paperwhite 10th Gen for my mothers 80th Birthday and she loved it so much she used it almost every day , we bought this 0842020 so its still very new , my issue is tonight 1112020 my mother brought it to me and asked what was wrong the screen was frozen , i looked on the web and found out how to do a reset by holding in the power button for around 40 seconds , well this did not work i tried many times , so i kept checking the web for other ways to fix this , even removing the battery and this is a pain to do by the way , well even with the battery out the screen stayed the same i expected it to turn off but the screen stayed the same still showing the page of the ebook she was reading . I dont understand why it would not shut down but im not a tech wiz , anyway after more research i read that updates or a certain update can cause this i do not know if this is true or not either way i am very upset that Kindles can just brake for no apparent reason , it was not dropped it did not get wet , NOTHING my mother is 80 with stage 4 cancer so this kindle was in her room on her bed with her 99.99 of the time , there is no chance of damage from travel , dropping it , any ruff handling NOTHING Buyer be ware

This reader allows me to continue with what I love even when libraries are closed. The contrast on the screen is nice and more paper like. Easy to change font sizes and navigate. I like that its linked with Goodreads which I was already using. Kindle has lots of great books at a variety of price points. Im considering getting a second one for my daughter.

Its one of the best electronic purchases I did. Ive had it for three years. I cost about 120, but its perfect for reading all the books we want without having to spend money on physical books. In addition, a white light is incorporated, which makes it possible for us to read at night without having to turn on the light in the room. The battery lasts approximately 2 weeks or so. Read the mobi format of books. My mother bought the same one, because she was very good. Totally recommended.

My wife may just be having bad luck with her kindles but she is on her third one in as many years. We had one through Amazon that they replaced with a refurbished one which worked great but unfortunately was stolen at a restaurant we had gone to. A second one through amazon, that was purchased brand new, stopped working after about 13 months and there was nothing they would do except give us a 10 discount. I bought this one just about a month ago before a vacation and although she can read, the device will either unexpectedly become stuck where pages wont turn and you cannot go back to the home screen or, it will simply turn itself off. I will be going back to BB today to either exchange or return the device. When these work, they work really well. The sun is not a problem, the battery life is great and the size of it is perfect.

This Kindle Paperwhite is great for reading outside, pool side, or my favorite, Mommy bubble bath time. It is much lighter than my Kindle Fire tablet, which is a tablet I also recommend. Easy to use and just like my Fire tablet I can still use the black background with white text. I enjoy reading day or night without eye strain. I decided to get a Kindle because all of my friends have one and really like it. Since I havent read anything on it yet, I cant say I love it, but hopefully I will. It seems pretty easy to use, with the exception of turning it off. It takes a few tries to get to the right screen to shut the screen off. It doesnt look like you can actually shut it off to conserve power like you can on other electronic devices.

This is my 3rd Lifetime Kindle Purchase. I have had the original, the previous edition paperwhite and now this one. The reason for my upgrade was for more storage and waterproof. Ive been reading on a Kindle Fire with only one complaint for quite some time. What was the issue Major glare when reading outdoors. When the price dropped to 90 on this paper white I knew it was time to scoop it up for myself. It is much smaller and lighter than my fire tablet bonus and there is literally no glare on it in the sun. Fingerprints and smudges dont really show. Sure, its only black and white, but honestly its been fantastic for my needs. Knowing it is waterproof brings piece of mind for spills or raindrops.

This was a big step for me because I love books in paper format. I love postits, bookmarkers, highlighters, dogeared pages, and the shear pleasure that books on printed paper gives me in the way I am accustomed to.I bought this because I wanted to travel with books. I do appreciate the convenience that Kindle brings. Yes, I had the app on my cell phone, but I was distracted.Separating the Kindle from cell phone and paper printed books, I was intentional with what I wanted to use this for.I love the size, look of paper, and lightweight of this Kindle. Plus I can adjust font size and read without prescriptive eyewearI still favor my paper books, but Ive decided that I have space in my world for a Kindle reading library, too.

I have always liked owning physical copies. However, a series I wanted to buy was sold out everywhere so I found myself looking at a Kindle. A lot of reviews said it sells out fast here and they werent kidding. Luckily the same day this was listed as out of stock I checked back and was able to buy it on sale. Its been wonderful for reading anywhere and the case I got makes it easier to read than any book would ever be. I also dont have to worry about storage for a bunch of books Im buying. I find that they run way cheaper buying them as an ebook as well. The battery lasts ages which is awesome cause I read for hours on end. Highly recommend

I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend so I havent used it personally but she has gushed about it seen getting it. First, if you put it in airplane mode, the battery will last forever on a single charge. The backlight is bright enough to read in the dark without being an eye strain but still works well in directly sunlight. The touch screen is all flush so theres no weird bezel to fit over. Super portable size and the memory space even on the small one is good for more books than shell read in a year.

Great Ereader For the price of a few books why not have access to hundreds of thousands of them As an avid reader I adopted epaper when it first came to market years ago. The ability to adjust font size and type has been instrumental in not having to wear reading glasses to avoid eyestrain for my middleaged eyes. Or in short I hate reading with glasses on as I dont have to wear them 247. Bigger font better contrast and lighting problem solved Performance I loaded a few thousand public domain .mobi files on at once to check indexing speed. Its faster then my 2 generation old kindle.32GB storage is a bit excessive for me unless you read a lot of PDF or other large format files like audiobooks.Weight Very, Very light It weighs less than most paperback books even after adding a case.Battery I used this for three weeks after the initial charge before charging again. as advertised. I read a lot daily sometimes for a few hours at a time with the backlight on.Overall No complaints Except for the closed ecosystem. Ive debated purchasing a Boox, Onyx etc…. but I can live with amazons ecosystem based purely on price. You can load as many of your own books on as long as they are in .mobi format and placed in the documents folder.

The Kindle paper white is a good ereader, but unlike the one it replaces, no longer utilizes Amazons whispernet wireless and free network service to download readables. You must be in a WiFi zone. Selecting books say on the beach or in your hunting lodge is no longer possible. To me, this regression, not progress.

I already have a kindle paper white. I am replacing it because the screen is damaged. I was very upset when I went to make an appointment with the Geek Squad and they wanted to charge me 99 dollars to help me. I never was charged before and feel that is an excessive amount to charge for a service in your store where the product was purchased. I will do more price comparison in the future since you will not assist customers any more without an exhorbitant fee.

Love the new kindle paperwhite Ive found the battery life much improved upon from the previous version of the device, the lighting on screen is even and can be adjusted to suit the individual. Changing text style and size is the reason I moved from physical books to an ereader, it had become impossible for me to read books with really tiny text due to eye strain and headaches. Suffice to say Ive never looked back I dislike reading on any back lit device, so dont use my phone or tablet for this purpose, having tried lots of ereading devices the kindle is the best out there. The paperwhite is the best value for money as far as the kindle range is concerned. Once purchased you quickly receive a new software update, which I found improved the performance of the device even further. I use this device for longer each day than my tablet or phone so comparatively speaking its a snip at its current price wouldnt be without one

This is my 6th kindle, my fifth one died I was bereft. Having researched availability I plumped for this. Overall this has to be the worst ever. The home page design is very confusing, very little definition of the book covers, in fact hard to distinguish the titles, I understood that authors paid good money to have book jackets designed to attract the reader, there is no pleasure browsing the library to see what I fancy to read, also no price is shown with the book jackets. No room to finish.

As an iPad, iPhone, and pretty much everything else owner, I didnt think I needed a kindle too after all the app is on all my devices. Then my friend was given an older model but had some problems with it, and thought it was completely broken it hadnt been updated and was now refusing to do anything WiFi related. In the process of helping her sort this out the answer is pretty much always Google it I handled her kindle a lot. I decided I wanted one They are lighter than Id have believed and have a really nice feel. Unlike all my other devices, the screen is matt and does a very good representation of a page in a book. My 3G and WiFi model will load new books even when Im travelling and dont have a WiFi connection in coffee shops and airports 3G is faster mine was up and running before it was logged onto our Wifi. Its amazing you can use 3G without a sim and contract. The backlight is pretty much essential to me as I read in bed, often while my husband sleeps, and we have a complete blackout in the bedroom the kindle doesnt disturb him. One of the best discoveries is that its easy to get my own PDF documents onto the kindle. I have done this before when I wrote a book of my father in laws memoirs and kindlised it as well as having a limited number printed purely for family and friends, but now its even easier. You can get any pdf onto the kindle and can even convert it to kindle compatibility. I have a compilation of Christmas recipes that I use year after year and have used my iPhone or iPad in the kitchen recipes on my word app till I accidentally scooped up my phone with other stuff and washed it up Place with rice in a bag for a few days is the fix good as new but I dont recommend full phone immersion, it can ruin your day. Now the recipes are in the kindle and the kindle sits in one of those neat little wooden stands from IKEA. Its too big to wash up and theres no screen reflection. I like my kindle very much.

Ive had the original Kindle and then the touch, and I must say I prefer this paperwhite. Although the battery life suffers from the lighted option, you dont have to use that unless youre in a low light situation. I like the software version on this one which is much more sophisticated than previous models, giving wikepedia options, and handling footnotes in a much more intuitive way for example. Theres also an option that will show meanings of trickier words which you can use, or not, and could be very handy for newer readers, or those for whom English is not a first language. You can adjust the sensitivity of it if you do decide to use it. Its small and lightweight and I must say that I havent lost my place as often as I did with the touch, which was continually taking me back to the beginning, or some arbitrary place from which it was really difficult to find your place again. That never happened with the original of course it was the touch sensitivity that caused the problem. For some reason I havent had that problem with the paper white. The worst that happens is that I fall asleep and when I wake up the type is larger and the page may have moved on one or two pages, but certainly so far I havent been totally lost and unable to find my place. I do find that Iseem to make notes more than I would like, and quite inadvertently, but its very easy to delete them again. I do have some bright light points on the screen, and I understand that this is fairly common. Its only a problem with the lighting option on, otherwise one cant see it, and to be honest its not much of a problem with the light switched on. The light is a very handy option when reading in bed if you dont want to put the bedside light on for whatever reason, which is when I use it. I find that if you wake up in the middle of the night you can read yourself to sleep again without waking up oneself too much or waking your partner by putting on a light. All in all Im very happy with mine and certainly prefer it to the touch.

This kindle has the same screen size as my old bulky one but is missing the keyboard which is now on screen and a lot more user friendly. Unbelievably light and has a light in the screen that you can adjust for lighting conditions. You can have it turned off completely if you are in a well lit room or in sun or turned up to read in the dark. Battery does NOT last weeks like they say tho it may if you never turned it on but it still lasts me days before I need to charge it. That may vary if you always have the light turned on to full brightness. Overall very happy with this product and love the nonglare screen for reading as opposed to a tablet as it is so much easier on my eyes.

My 95yearold mom loves the paperwhite because the font size is adjustable to a size that she can see. I just wish that it was available in an 8 inch sized screen and the opening page brought up only the books that had been downloaded for her. We dont need suggested for you books listed well find our own and the cluttered screen confuses her. She reads 12 hours a day and the charging port has gone bad on three Kindles so far and the battery cant handle enough charging cycles before it dies. Ive bought five or six and when the battery dies the Kindle wont operate while plugged into an AC power source. The latter is a huge negative for me. However, the Power on button and the charger socket are very small and are very difficult for elderly fingers to access. Product is exactly as described. Setup was incredibly easy, with clear instructions. Ive had my eye on a paperwhite kindle for months, and jumped at the opportunity when these went on sale.My only complaint is that the battery life isnt actually as hearty as they advertise it to be, or maybe Im just an avid reader. This product is for reading books. It is perfect for reading books, which is good because that is all it can do. Its what the Kindle was at the onset, but much lighter and more compact. I had the fire for a while, and its ok but clunky and slow and honestly, cheap. You can do much better for a multimedia player. Much better. And this impacted the books loading and battery and everything else.. i came to hate that product for reading., which is basically the point of a kindle anyways. Again. This is a book reader only. And it is wonderful.

Really like this Kindle Its smaller weighs less than my old one. I also really like the white screen on it. One of the negative things about this Kindle is the dictionary. For a word in the book youre reading its a snap. For a word that isnt its a really most convoluted process. Also, the lack of a good instruction booklet or YouTube video would have been nice. Bought this for my 89 year old father who just found out he had macular degeneration and was noticing difficulty reading the Bible. Love the black on white paperwhite. Easy on the eyes. Much less eye strain. Not knowing much about kindles, I was able to download the Bible and set the font to a larger and bolder size. Navigating through the books of the Bible is fairly easy and my Dad is able to do this with little frustration. I do wish there was a quickguide or instruction booklet for my father to refer too and also for me since I am helping him. Screen refresh for page turn, search results is sluggish but bearable. Good reading options for kids with Amazon Free Time subscription. I can even listen to audiobooks by connecting to a Bluetooth speaker. Claims to be water resistant as well

We purchased this Kindle to have in the house as an upgrade to a 2012 Kindle that worked until i brought it into the Jacuzzi. This one is now waterproof Read it in the pool on a float where it got a little wet due to splashing and had no issues. Works great and love the ability to read at night finally with the light. This one came with adda, but they are only when not using the device when on the Lock Screen. Dont even notice they are there.

I got this as a replacement for an elderly Simple Touch Nook ereader that I used for many years and finally wore out. I debated for a while on whether I should purchase another, newer Nook or give in to the Kindle. Beyond that I was torn on getting the baseline Kindle or the more expensive Paperwhite. In the end I decided that the Black Friday pricing on the Paperwhite was good enough to take the plunge in that direction. After using it for several weeks I generally pleased with the purchase. The eink screen is VERY crisp, which was expected based on the marketing and reviews. But, when you look at it side by side with another reader you can see really how much sharper the characters, and especially images, are compared to lower resolution readers. On top of the clarity, the screen refreshes very quickly, faster in fact than I can usually turn a paper page. I do somewhat miss having a physical page button, but thats probably just an artifact of my previous reader that I got used to. I really do miss having a physical home button as I find it takes several swipes at the top of the screen to get the menu to open. The last screen specific feature is the screen light. I honestly wasnt sure exactly what to expect but I love it. Adjusting the screen brightness takes the screen from the typical paperback page color to a bright white in 24 levels. Ive found that about 23rds of the way up is perfect for me to read in a dark room, but there is plenty of variability to please most readers. The light never feels sourcey the screen is just evenly that brightness all across its surface. Using the light eats into the battery life, but running at brightness 1 is generally fine for normal room lighting conditions anyway. After a couple of weeks of use like this every day for a bit, Im sitting at 52 battery. In terms of memory I got the 8 gb model, which should be plenty fine for a fairly large number of regular books, which take up very little space. I do wish there was a micro SD card slot for expanding the memory as sometimes in the past I have uploaded things like PDF books and manuals to my old reader, and those can sometimes be bulkier items. I guess with this Kindle I would just have to erase more items than I did previously as I really dont need to archive the data on it anyway. I just thought I would mention it. The Amazon Kindle bookstore is very extensive, and from what I have looked at the prices are a bit lower than competitors. I dont do Audible to listen to books. That said, I dont think that even with bluetooth capability for headphones I could see this as a replacement for my phone in the role of a Audiobook playback device. The Special Offers mentioned are basically lockscreen advertisements so they have basically no impact on how I actually use or interact with the device, but it would be nice to be able to have my own personal wallpapers. The reader is very light, easily held in one hand. I like that it is thin enough even with a light case to slip into a jacket pocket to take along. The build feels solid, despite the light weight. The front is very smooth and I personally like the nonslip feel of the back. Even though I have it in an inexpensive case to provide screen protection while carrying it around, I do pop it out quite often when using it just because it does feel more comfortable in my hand that way.Overall I like this reader, but I feel like the MSRP is a bit high for the feature set though I havent nor do I ever plan to test the Water Proof claim I think the Black Friday price this year was more along the lines of where it should be priced. The Kindle Paperwhite is what should be the baseline model for an ereader with all the basics, even if Amazon is intent on promoting it as a premium eink reader.Im hoping that it will last as long as my last reader and if so I will be very happy.

I returned this item. Technical difficulties. Page freezing. Repeatedly giving me the message that it did not recognize my wifi . The first week I had it I read an entire novel. From that point on nothing worked or I was baited into reading a novel and after reaching the 3rd or 4th chapter I would get the message that it was just a sample and would I like to rent the book. Could not access the menu to pursue issue further. I prefer just reading a paper book with no drama attached. Thank you but not my thing. I still prefer the old fashioned way of turning pages.

Waste of money. Was supposed to have connection for headphones, but does not. I have to connect to external speakers to hear audio books. Also SLOW. Very frustrating. I still have my previous paperwhite kindle. It was my first. I got this new model because my old kindle is beginning to do some odd stuff even though I have taken good care of it.I gave my new kindle 3 stars because the pages are not as white. They are yellowish. I set both of the kindles on the same brightness number. Is there a new definition of paperwhite Everything else seems to work fine. Way too many setting options that mess with the workings of my kindle. Some I dont understand. I may have to restart my kindle after hitting the no button on some.

This is Ruth Martin and I bought the Paperwhite EReader. This is my third Kindle product and I have been very pleased with all of them. My Kindle Fire is beginning to overheat so I made the decision to purchase a paperwhite for reading only. This is my obsession and I would be completely lost without this gem. I am not a technical whiz so I can not speak to specifics of the product I just know it does everything I need it to do and I am thrilled to own one. Thanks for a wonderful addition to my addiction. I bought the Kindle because the tablet Samsung I was using overheats while reading outside in the sun. The Kindle is smaller and easier to take on the go. My only quibble is that the screen has a yellowishoff white cast. Seems dull looking compared to the tablet screen. Also the book covers displayed on the home screen are hard to see and sometimes the titles are hard to read. Overall, I am happy with the purchase though. Page turning is quick, battery life is great and the button on the bottom has not been a problem for me. I did buy a cover for protection.

I was really surprisedimpressed with how nice this new 2018 Kindle paperwhite was when it first arrived. When I first opened it I could tell it seemed longer, and maybe the wider bezel around it is for readers who prefer to read without a case, offering a better grip. Just guessing. I have both the Oasis, both versions, and the Voyage, a couple of them gifts and wonderful ereaders, Ive thought, and I have loved them and still do, so I wasnt expecting to really be impressed with this new ereader. I like to have an extra ereader or two so when my friends come to visit, we can all sit around and read if we want when were tired of going.

This is the first ebook reader Ive owned so Ive nothing to compare it with, however my first impression is that its somewhat underwhelming. On the plus side its relatively easy to buy books off your linked Amazon account and download them to read. Its less easy to work out how to get the free ones. All in glorious black and white. The battery life is good mine lasted a month on the first charge. On the down side, yes it displays text, yes you can change the font size but the page changes seem a bit clunky. Each new page takes a few milliseconds to resolve cleanly. Its not long but its slightly irritating. More irritating is that the video also flips into reverse white text on black background for a few milliseconds between certain page turns chapter sections perhaps. There are no animated page turning graphics as you get on some tablets, and nothing to make you smile and think thats really cool. Its basic. It works. But not as well as I thought it would.

I have wanted to purchase a Kindle EReader for a long time. I love reading a variety of books and have always enjoyed holding each book as I read through it. However, now that Ive purchased my Kindle, I have been able to sample several books that I never would have bought or checked out from my local public library. Being able to send a sample of any ebook directly to my Kindle is super. My Kindle holds hundreds of books, something I never could do before. I still occasionally read paper books, but I will be reading most of my books on my Kindle

I upgraded from the Kindle Keyboard that Id had since highschool, and the difference is like night and day The words are significantly clearer. I disliked reading on my old Kindle because the text was somewhat grainy, but the paperwhite is sharper than text on paper. The device is small and light enough that you can read comfortably for long periods of time. Other reviewers noted that the power button was inconveniently placed, but I havent had any issues with that so far.I do think this device, at 129, is at the high end of where it should be. It is, after all, an ereader. The technology has not been significantly improved since the paperwhites inception, but the cost doesnt reflect that.Overall, if you have an older Kindle thats on its last leg and want to upgrade, this is a great device. If your older Kindle still works well enough for you, I wouldnt spend the money to upgrade especially if you have a device with the same screen resolution.

This has changed my reading habits and motivation completely The kindle is a great addition to my workflow and line of tools and I am someone who uses the iPad Pro for everything. Great spacesaver for readers, but I have been spoiled by having a Kindle Paperwhite for some time. I mistakenly ordered this one when I had intended to get another Paperwhite which doesnt require decent light to read. In fact, it doesnt need ANY light other than what it has internally. Reading in a car at night while waiting for another person is easy and pleasant. That is my only complaint. This is easy to read with good light, has storage space for thousands of books which are easy to get and either free or nottooexpensive to get from Amazon. Ereaders dont last forever. When this one quits working, Ill get another Paperwhite. Maybe before then and keep this one as a backup.

Ive owned two Kindle Paperwhites prior to this one and I sold or returned those, but this one is a keeper. The Paperwhites that I previously owned did not have a flush, onepiece frontthe bezels were slightly raised above the touchscreen. I did not like this because every time I pressed the touchscreen even if just gently, I felt that I was pressing the screen IN, because it was a second piece that seemed behind the bezels kind of like a picture frame, and I was pressing the picture inward. The cheaper, nonPaperwhite regular Kindle has this exact set up like a picture in a picture frame.Im a very voracious reader and I love this Paperwhite Kindle. The back of it is a smooth yet rubberyfeeling material that makes it nice to have a good hold on while reading with one hand. It is so light I can hold it for hours on end while reading. I can read peacefully at night without disturbing my husbands sleep because I can turn all the lights off and still read in the dark. I think Amazon finally got it right.

Love love love this kindle I have kiddos and regular books are super hard for me to read not to mention how to keep track of where I was in the middle of the interruptions. I love my kids but this kindle gives me mini escapes to read and enjoy a story. My kids also enjoy being read to from mommies special book. It has become apart of my everyday and I love that I dont have to stress about their little spills or messes ruining my books lol. The back light on this is amazing I dont have to use it to its full strength and love that I can read at night while rocking my youngest to sleep.

So I bought one as a present and one for myself to replace the old kindle I had. To say Im disappointed is an understatement. My old kindle which must be at least 6 years old is more responsive on the screen and the battery power seems far superior. Also although this new one states high resolution screen, when you sit them side by side the old kindle screen wins hands down. Im incredibly disappointed by this purchase. I bought online but really would recommend if you already have a kindle take your old one into a shop and compare them side by side if Id done that I certainly wouldnt have bought it Not sure what the development has been over the years but the general build quality of this model is definitely inferior to my old one of so many levels.

Scored this during the Black Friday promotion for 85. Device has a bit of a learning curve for those new to ereaders or those upgrading from prior Kindle models. Slightly disappointed in the number of newspaper and magazine options, but thats not necessarily a fault of the Paperwhite. Text is extremely easy to read, and pages are easy to navigate once you learn the controls, Device is lightweight, particularly compared to older Kindles. Dedicated use to the Paperwhite will reduce eye strain via blue light phone tablet exposure. This is a great way to encourage yourself to distraction free, focused reading. Now, all I need is a case to take this on the road, and find some extended leisure to catch up on a few quality reads.

I was pretty reluctant on moving from hardcover books to the electronic format. But I am glad I took that leap of faith. The lowlight reading really is a blessing, when you want to do some bed time reading.Kindle books are relatively cheaper, and plus the amount of physical clutter that is minimized, helps staying more organized. And the best part is that it reduces a lot of weight while a travel. This purchase was inspired by my earlier one, and this is a gift to a dear friend.

I love this little ereader. Im upgrading from a nook. I love the backlight with dark mode. It allows me to read without keeping my wife up with the lamp light on our side table. The KindleAmazon book purchasing system is very intuitive. My only complaint is the placement of the only button on the paper white. It is on the bottom right where my finger goes while reading. Ive had to train myself to hold it differently so I dont accidentally put it to sleep.

Had the previous model paper white and enjoyed it. I had several pixels that had failed and were a little aggravating, so I decided to move up.The model is a little thinner and overall shorter, with the same size reading area. I like to take to the beach and pool, so l like the idea of waterproof with 4 grandkids wanting attention around the water. The screen is totally flat so nowhere to catch sand at the beach or crumbs at other times. There is a brief delay booting up compared to the older model, that seems unnecessary, and thus far the only negative I can find.Overall a satisfactory purchase.

I like how light weight this is and it has led to me reading more books. Its also convenient to carry around and fits in my small purse. The screen lags quite a bit and I thought maybe it just needed to be update but unfortunately not. I have to press show more quite a few times to expand the description of a book and it gets annoying after a while. Lastly, the power off button is in a weird spot and I hit it often while reading. Its frustrating because I then have to turn the screen back on and pick up where I left off. I saw that the kobo has the buttons in a much more convenient place but I just got this so Ill keep it for now.

Eink and ereaders are excellent for longform reading of novels. Two niggling details to be aware of1. The positions of the navigation buttons on the Kindle app and the navigation buttons on the Paperwhite are very different, beyond just the page turning buttons. This can get frustrating if, like me, you tend to use multiple devices phone, tablet, ereader with the Kindle app.2. I found out the hard way that not all of the books on my phones Kindle app can be opened in the Paperwhite. When I contacted Amazon customer service about this, they explained that the Paperwhite uses a different format than the app, and publishers decide whether or not to offer their books for both the KIndle app and the Paperwhite. When buying the Kindle version of a book on Amazons site, there is no indication as to whether or not the book can be read on the Paperwhite.Ereaders are excellent for longform novel reading, and for this purpose, I highly recommend the Paperwhite. However, I do not recommend the Paperwhite for reading business and technical books, which typically require constant back and forth page flipping. The Paperwhite or any current generation eink device is not meant to be used this way.I also looked at the larger screen Oasis, but its physical left and right page turn buttons are both placed on one side of the device, making the buttons awkward to use. It would make more sense to place the left page turn left button on the left side and the right button on the right side of the device. Screen real estate could be preserved by placing the buttons on the side edges of the device, rather than on the same face as the screen as is done currently. Doing so might even reduce the overall size of the device, or alternatively, allow for an even larger screen.

I was hoping to be able to use the accessibility feature to read the books to me at times. The feature works, but DONT get interrupted because I cant seem to pause it, rewind it, or start it at any point I want. Once you get it reading the chapter plan on letting it go until the next chapter. My husband even hunted through tons of videos online looking for tips on using the feature, no luck. The quality of the audio has improved, it is less robotic. I liked that there is better inflection and appropriate tone variation. I also loved that I could speed it up. If only I could pause and rewind…The rest of the features are great. I prefer to read from this over the free Kindle app on my phone, especially in the dark. It is easy on the eyes. 32GB was probably a bit overkill though.

I have been extremely happy with this purchase. The size is ideal and easy on the eyes. Got 2 of these for me and my wife before our Alaska Cruise rather than take my Kindle Fire which I need to charge daily. Used it all week, read 6 books and did not need to charge it until I got back home. Downloads are seamless once you are registered to your amazon account. I love the paperwhite quality and the backlight for night reading is great. I got the Kindle cover for both and it works great. Snaps shut and puts the device to sleep. Wakes up when you open it so you dont need to touch the power button. Font adjustment is excellent. My wife didnt need her glasses as she increased the font so she could read. I also really like the touch page turn feature. Just touch the screen and you turn the page. It works great. I also signed up for Kindle unlimited and have found some great books to read. A great value if you read a lot. Again, very happy with this purchase

Ive not taken it outside but have used it in a bright room and the screen performs becomes whiter as designed. Im looking forward it reading outside in summer. The Kindle Paperwhite is a beautiful piece of technology. A plethora of books in a slab the size of a generous chocolate bar from a favourite auntie The Kindle will take avid readers and turn them into satiated book monsters, and convert those like me who arent fully into reading and make them delighted to turn the next page. Simply, the Kindle is easy to use and navigate and is designed to be easy to use and understands, while providing just enough features to have an edge. My mother, a technophobe, loves hers. The integrated light is genius and works a treat. I would hesitate to go back to an older kindle just because this feature is so good. The drawbacks are simply some user interface issues and olderkindlegeneration lack of features. The on screen keyboard is a little slow, as is the search feature. Book ordering, IE viewing your library or bookshelf is convoluted. Worldwide 3G was class on the Kindle Keyboard and would be excellent on this device, however I understand its limits if every model had it In summary if you can find a cheap used device in good condition youll be smitten with your purchase. And if you get one full price, youll not regret your purchase either.

In recent times, I have been wanting to get back to reading and exploring new and more detailed stories. That said, I picked up the Paperwhite, and absolutely love it. The eink tech used in these is so neat, and uses barely any battery power. You can charge these, and carry it with you for several weeks, if not longer, before needing a charge. I like the Kindle paperwhite for reading books. It is easy to see pages turn readily back and forth. However, I do have one complaint I borrow books from the library, and have to go to my computer to borrow them. With my Kindle Fire I had been able to borrow books directly through Overdrive on my Kindle without having to get them through the computer. I know Amazon changed this because back in March, I could no longer get my library books directly to my Kindle Fire. Why do I suspect that overdrive is no longer on the Kindle because Amazon would like me to buy their books. Sorry, but I dont have the money to buy all the books that I would like to read, so I resort to borrow them from the library, and yes, they dont always have every book that i want, but i have to live with that.

I upgraded from my first Kindle, the Kindle touch from around 2011. That kindle was great, compact, and easy to use with a home button. The downsides No backlight and not waterproof. I knew once this version came out it was time for me to upgrade as I mostly use my Kindle on the beach, by the pool, or at night. This thing is awesome The backlight gets super bright, easily splashproof, and super durable with the rubber backing. My only gripe is that I dont like how connected the display is, giving you book suggestions and asking you to buy certain books or post to Facebook. I miss the old layout which simply showed the books you had checked out very prominently. Overall, Im glad I made the purchase

I recently chipped the screen on my old but much loved Paperwhite. So I bought the newest model to replace it. The interface seems a bit more responsive than my old one. But what I am loving most is the better light adjustment setting for reading in the dark. On my old device 5 was slightly too bright for my sensitive eyes, but 4 wasnt quite bright enough for me to read in a pitch black room. On the new device I am able to read the screen clearly on settings 2 3. And both are very gentle on my eyes. The new Paperwhite is a bit lighter too. So my hand doesnt tire as easily when reading in bed. My only concerns with the new device are that I was surprised to see it turn off with the slightest touch of my pinky. A slight adjustment to the way I hold the device makes that easily avoidable though. And with the removal of the bezel the device was sliding a little bit in my light grasp. The screen doesnt provide any friction, like the bevel did. Which is why I had used my pinky along the bottom edge of the device to keep it from moving. Im sure a case would alleviate both of these issues. But a slight change in my 1 handed grasp was all I needed. Otherall, Im very happy with my new Paperwhite.

Ive always been a generation behind with Kindles. I had a Kindle from 2016 that was working pretty fine, except for some damaged pixels, but the Paperwhite tempted me with that lovely soft front light. And it is a great little eReader. I love that I can read in the dark like I am right now and its battery life is much better than my last Kindle. Setup is fallingoffalog easy, as long as youre somewhat familiar with Amazon, and I love that I can download and return Kindle Unlimited books easily and quickly. Oh, and Im a librarian assistant, so Ive already put a LOT of mileage on this thing. Its holding up beautifully. One suggestion would be to include Find My or an equivalent so you can somehow ping it when you cant find it. I solved this issue with a Tile Sticker on the back cover of the case, but it would be awesome if you could just page it from another device, like you can your iPhone from your Apple Watch.

They sold me a two year old version, the inferior 2018 model SO MAD This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE for an electronic company. Sold at the same price as a brand new 2019 model.Wont buy at bestbuy again because you cant trust them.

We love everything about this device expect for the Bluetooth connectivity. Has anyone else had issues with this Weve tried three different pairs of Bluetooth headsets thinking it was a problem with the headphones. But all of them disconnect after a few minutes and then connection attempts fail repeatedly after that. We have to restart the kindle completely to get a few minutes connected to the headphones for audiobooks. This feature was the reason for the purchase. Of course it was a Christmas gift so Im past the 30 day return window.

I really like the paper white kindles. I think it is easier on your eyes to read with than other screens. I like the back light. It allows me to read in bed without a lamp. It is pretty simple to use. I like the size because it fits easily in my purse. It also holds a little more than my first Kindle and you can return library books from the Kindle rather than needing to use my computer or phone.

I love the device overall and would recommend it, but have a couple of small issues with it 1. When I choose a setting for pagereading, it often reverts later to a different setting, even though Im still in the same document. It possibly is triggered when I turn off the Kindle in the middle of a book and wake it back up later, but in my opinion the setting should remain the same regardless. 2. Page navigation sometimes seems to skip and I have to reverse it to get back to where I should have been. Dont know if this is because of a very sensitive touch screen.

There were no instructions included making trying to figure out how to use the product difficult. Still dont know how to download books from my computer.Unit is very light weight. It has adjustable brightness and adjustable fonts so very versatile once you figure out how to use it.Not recommended for older users without someone to provide support

I had an original kindle with the page turn buttons on the side, but my kids broke it. I really miss that feature. I do like having the back lighting for reading at night or in bad lighting. Its easy to set up. I like being able to increase the font size. The only beef I have with it is the lack of side buttons to turn the page. You have to tap the top corners to go back and forth pages and I constantly do this accidentally. That is a major flaw to this design. It has gotten better now that I have a case on it where my fingers can rest without hitting the screen, but its annoying to have to move my fingers every minute or so to turn the page. It was much easier when I just pressed a button on the side that my finger was resting on. Screen is good size. Weight is fine. You will need a case. Dont spend tons they are easily found online for a few dollars.

I love my Kindle Paperwhite. I use it pretty much every night. I like to read for a bit before I go to bed so I love to just leave my Kindle next to my bed and I can grab it and read before bed. Also, since I do most of my reading at night, I find that the Kindle hurts my eyes less than most other technology. I have really sensitive eyes and am SUPER prone to migraines. I find that when I use technology regularly before bed my migraines get worse. The Kindle is nice because as far as technology goes, I find that the Kindle has less of an impact on my migraines than lets say my iPad.

Im sure it is great for some people, but I feel like Im holding and reading off a notecard. Its tiny, too small for me. It seems like three or four sentences per screen page even on small font. It is lightweight and easy on the eyes, Ill give them that. But its just too difficult for me to use. It is very sensitive and constantly turning pages at the slightest touch and turning off if I graze the button. Maybe Im a just a bit clumsy with it. It will take getting used to thats for sure. Overall kind of a simple product for not such a great price.

Have resisted ereaders as I like having a book. Lockdown forced me to go to ebooks and using my tablet. Light and reflection restricted from reading outside or in my conservatory. I have now invested in a kindle and am a convert.Easy to hold, no reflection from light and you can buy from Amazon onto your kindle.Only minor downside it would be nice if cover of ebooks were in colour

Theres not really anything bad I can say about the Kindle Paperwhite. Its quite possibly the BEST ereader ever. That being said, I just dont like the buttons or lack there of. I miss the old kindle keyboard models. The buttons were so easy to navigate. I wish you guys would bring it back

Bought the Kindle for my wife. She loves how light it is and the background is very easy on the eyes. One of the features she loves is how you can click on words and either add to notes or immediately look up the definition in the dictionary. Wish it had external storage but 32GB still works fine for what she currently needs. Overall, great product

I need something with a little more flexibility about where books come from. Also a much bigger screen would be nice. The 3 week battery only lasts for 45 days of nonstop reading. Software is glitchy. Doesnt always turn pages correctly. Trying to find a book is hard also. They need some custom bookshelf or something. Books never stay in numerical order. The 3 month subscription to kindle unlimited is the same way. Way to expensive for what you get. A color tablet with more memory is a lot cheaper. Would not recommend.

Before purchasing this E Reader, I was completely against them. You cannot beat a proper book. The smell of the pages, the cracking of the spine on a new purchase.. However I have too many books and have found myself with no space to put them. I decided the Kindle Paperwhite would be ideal for this. Added bonus, its water proof Im a bath time reader so this is a big win for me Battery life is brilliant, with the backlight too, makes it perfect for bedtime reading on nights you cannot sleep

Before the Kindle I had been using my Ipad to read books on. Had a ton of books of downloaded on there, but I could never get into reading them and I just thought it was me not being able to focus. Once I got the Kindle I realized the Ipad just isnt a great device for reading books but the Kindle is. Didnt realize how big of a difference I felt, but now I can read books and focus instead of getting distracted. Only downside to me personally is that theres no headphone jack so bluetooth headphones are required. Might be a bit of a disappointment if listen to a lot of audiobooks and dont have them already.

Really happy with this product.I have small hands, this fits perfectly in them. Its really lightweight so doesnt hurt your wrist if holding for a long period. The backlight means I can read in the dark, and there is no glare from the sun or lights. It is slower than a smartphone but doesnt effect use.100 would recommend.

It meets all expectations for an older model Kindle paper white. No issues . I did not realize that it only came with a cord and not a plug though. Thankfully I had a plug that works or I would have been frustrated to not be able to use it right away I used my Kindle app on my phone and debated about getting a Kindle. When I strated reading more this winter I finally broke down and decided to at least get an older model and try it since they were inexpensive. I am glad I did .While it doesnt have all the bells and whistles of the newer models it does work well for the price.
