Replacing an Edge25 so plumped for the Edge130. Not massively bigger in size but much more configurable and faster both in use and in acquiring a GPS signal.

This Garmin GPS was purchased for use in connection with a new cycle. I have several other Garmin GPS models but none would fit the new bike and none would assist with my low key fitness program. The package arrived with dead batteries in each of the 3 sensors and I had to wait for replacements to arrive before I could begin setting everything up. Overall setup has proved problematic connections between phone, sensors and GPS has sometimes taken 30 minutes or more to complete, often requiring forgetting devices and reinstating them. But…..once set up and happy, the 1030 plus has been a joy to use. The screen is clear and readable under all weather conditions and flicking between screens using the Shimano DI2 buttons has been easy and very useful. Battery life is very good for the riding I do and it is clear that an 8 hour ride would be no problem on a single charge. Im pleased that I have the 1030 plus but at this price point it should not be so difficult and finnicky. Once set up it should stay set up and the fact that it doesnt, really detracts from the overall pleasure. No issues with Sigmasports, they delivered next day and I would happily purchase from them again. The issue is with Garmin, the cost of the unit and the fact that it cannot seem to connect reliably to my phone at the start of each ride.

After upgrading from my Garmin Edge 810 this was a big leap forward.The screen is much better and the navigation facilities significantly better.Load Strava routes etc , navigate, turn by turn navigation100 times better than using a google maps route on your phoneIt is expensive but totally worth it

This is my third Garmin Edge, upgrading from Touring Plus and 1000 and this unit has so much more to offer.Takes quite a bit of set up to get it working as I need it to, but the tim has been worth it. Segments are much improved although Ive still not got them how I would like to see them more time needed. There is so much information to be gained from the 1030 Plus.

Small in size, lightweight, no frills…. Its an entry level GPS which packs a big punch.If I have to have a complaint it would be that it only stores about 10 live segments but to get more than that you go for a battery sapping fancy screen and a much bigger price tag, all this means is that I plan which sections I want to leave my mark on before the ride, which actually turns out to be a plus.

This is easily read despite the small screen and displays plenty of data. The screens are configurable and the device links viw bluetooth or ANT to external devices. When linked to an app on a smartphone it also provides an analysis of your rides.Excellent piece of kit.

I upgraded to this from the Edge 1000 as the battery life on my 1000 was getting really bad. I used the Edge 1030 Plus for my Ride100 through central London and had all the other features on including full map mode, route planner etc, and the battery life went down to something like 80. Considering I was out for on for more than 10 hours including rest stops, which I kept it on the whole time too I was super impressed. It has loads of features, most I will never use, but the maps are great and the route planner is great too.I was a bit worried I would need to use a different mount as some people mentioned in previous comments they had to change, but it came with everything I needed, but didnt need to change anyway as it fitted the mount from my Edge 1000 no problem.I would definitely recommend this product.

6 years from my old unit so when I saw the Edge 1030 has a plus upgrade I was ready to get a new model.A couple of months using it and I am pleased I purchased as it seems reliable and the download store has offered me some useful addons.I have had issues with the HRM Dual I already had same as bundled as the sensor cover peeled so I am hoping that has now been resolved. Wiggle are doing a warranty exchange on that slowly.If I get six years out of this I will be very happy.

Bought as a head unit so I could add power data to my training. Already have a Garmin Explore satnav, so bought as a training tool rather than a satnav. More than enough stats to keep you going speedcadenceHRpower plus gradients, training plans etc esp when paired with Garmin Connect and Strava. Straightforward, easy to use not touchscreen which is good , black and white makes it easy to read and so far, dont feelIm missing any metrics which may be of use. Also includes Strava live segments which is more fun than I had realised and pushes you to improve too. One comment, its not really for navigation, though it does record where youve been. Overall a great little training tool that comes highly recommended..

I bought my 1030 Plus after months of comparisons and research across all of the usual alternatives for the price range and functionality. And I mean ALL It took me a long time to pluck up the courage to spend the money, which was significantly more than some of the alternatives I was considering, but I have to say that I do not regret the decision. My 1040 Plus has performed faultlessly since I started using about one month ago and it is very easy to set up, very reliable, and has some great features. I should mention that I am an eBike owner, and this is important because I was looking primarily for good eBike integration and this product seems to have the best current feature set. It pairs directly with the bike using ANT and provides full bike telemetry while allowing me to navigate around flawlessly. This product is well publicised online so I wont waste time reviewing what others can review much better than me. But I wanted to share my decision and satisfaction with others at the purchase. Well made and solid, including the bar mount supplied, and an essential tool for anyone serious about recording their ride, performance and overall fitness progress.

This is my 3rd Garmin, having previously owned the early 1000, then the 820. This seems like a big improvement. Battery life is now excellent. I have done several all day 300km rides, with the battery save feature on. I typically ended the day with the battery still around 40. The screen is a big improvement, much clearer and the touch screen is very responsive and responds like a smartphone. There are still a few of the usual garmin software bugs, but the turn by turn instructions have so far yielded very few errors. This is a big improvement on earlier versions.

The Garmin Edge really begins to feel like its matured to a point of having little more to develop. Used it most days since purchase and the features all feel better sorted and more intuitive than earlier device incarnations. It mainly just does what you want it to and doesnt require masses of effort to set it up.Battery life is excellent, the screen is very readable in all conditions with the auto brightness feature, turn by turn navigation works well on courses youve uploaded with no significant lag and it links extremely well to power meter and HR accessories. Sweeping between screens works well even with winter gloves.Whether the big screen and extra battery life are worth it over the 830 depends on your eye sight and how far you want to see maps ahead of your current position.My only criticisms would be the loss of detail on the map as you zoom out and that Im unable to work out whether you can pan across the map to plan a route while in the middle of navigating. Its also a bit clumsy drawing a course on the actual device, far easier on a laptop.

I have created courses on the PC, synchronised with the device and then following the route on the device is easy.The display is clear and font size is easy to read at a glance.Heading out for a ride without a map, the device records everything perfectly speed altitude, temperature and you can then save this ride as a course and use it again.I am not using any sensors with the device just as a stand alone unit.Great product.Note The description did not say this but mine was delivered with the out front mount and standard mounts in the box

I bought the Edge 1030 Plus when my 1030, which was almost three years old, died at the start of an Audax ride. Garmin are replacing it under warranty Garmin products are expensive but the support is first rate. Needing a replacement immediately, I bought the 1030 Plus from Halfords, best price if you dont need the bundle.It loads rides faster even when they have not been cached. With the 1030, if I started a long ride it would load to 99 as I cycled, then go back to 1 and try again. The 1030 Plus loads even a 200km with no fuss. Battery life is great. After a recent 200 with cadence, the RTL rear light sensor and navigation, it was down to 56. Rerouting is much improved. I dont use the mountain bike features but they are there.I bought the external battery from Halfords last year best price again and with this I can easily do a two day 400km plus adventure.

I had a very old Garmin GPS and decided to buy this a month ago. Sigma had the best price for the performance bundle and went for the 1040 plus instead of the 830. I was a little bit concerned about the size of it but after a few weeks of usage, I am glad I went with it.Navigation It does an amazing job of navigating and is more intuitive and improved over earlier versions. The interface is very quick and auto pause is a great feature. Strava segments are very easy to see and ClinbPro in general is a great addition.Data fields This is where this unit comes alive. It has tons of data fields and you can get all the information you need in one screen. If you are training with data and want to.improve your performance, look no further than the 1030 plus.Possibly the best bike gadget I have ever bought.

All the connection issues I had with a lezyne computer are gone. This just works. Turn it on, picks up gps and heart rate straight away, works better under tree cover. Auto sync to phone is pretty seamless. Mtb functions are quite fun eg airtime etc. Only complaint is that there isnt an obvious breadcrumb trail feature. I use this to navigate woodland etc even without a map. Nice and small though. No temp readout that I could find.

Initially, I was surprised by how small the unit was when it arrived but after a couple of rides out, I was extremely pleased with the functionality. All the key metrics that I use are there Speed, Power, Cadence etc…. and seamlessly teamed up with my phone, existing Garmin App and Strava. All in a neat little value package

The Garmin 1030 Edge Plus has not disappointed at all. The battery life is excellent and moving map feature is a real gem. I have integrated my ANT lights plus power sensor and HR monitor and they all work flawlessly. The only minor issue are the buttons which are sometimes difficult to reach. The touch screen works well even with sweaty fingers.

I bought this to upgrade from a fairly basic cycle computer. In addition to basic information I was looking for a simple navigation system the sort of thing that would give basic route navigation. This really is not adequate the map is just a single line and does not show any roads coming onto the route so a 3 or 4 way junction isnt shown. In many cases no instructions are given at a junction making this really not fit for purpose. So in effect you are paying a lot extra for a bike computer with way too limited navigation function. With hindsight I would have paid more for better navigation, or much less for a simple bike computer

I purchased this Garmin to use predominantly for TT due to its compact size. The unit was very easy to set up and despite being small the readout is easy to view. It easily allows me to view speed, cadence, heart rate and power on one screen to give feedback during a race.

Havent used to full potential yet as I dont have power meter, theres a big section on the display screen that would show yours watts. Everything else is good, easy to search maps, big screen, easily wipe off water, easy to set up. Links with garmin connect. You can select a route on the actual machine, eg 30miles round trip and it will calculate one for you. Heart rate monitor sometimes doesnt connect on some rides first time for some reason, trick is to just turn computer off then back on and it reconnects straightaway.

Having used the 1030 for 2 years, i noticed that the newer 530830 were alot quicker and more reliable than the Flagship device.Having used it a few times now its notably quicker and more able to deal with the software updates that have come through to it.Is it worth the upgrade from a 1030 Unless you use routing, maps and battery for long distance 10 HRs rides then no.

I didnt want to pay for lots of GPS unit features that I never use. I previously used a Garmin edge 810 unit now Kaput so I was a bit shocked by how small it was when I took it out of the box. But the display is very clear and perfectly ok for navigating and buttons rather than touchscreen are fine especially when wiping rain off the screen. After being a bit worried that I wouldnt be able to see it, I am now well satisfied. Me and it are big mates Once longevity is established, this would get 5stars.

Got a refund from my RideLondon 2020 entry fee. When this type of situation happens I normally invest in a upgrade. I had nothing else to upgrade at the time apart from the just released Garmin 1030 plus.Havent really used it as rides havent been that long. However the new setup by transferring settings from old 1030 to the plus, went so smoothly. The only thought I had was this is the pinnacle of plug and play.Battery life I havent given it a full workout yet, off to Italy in October for the Giro 2020.When I wanted to setup the training schedule from Garmin, the website has been down and I havent be able to connect setup.Basically I havent really used it but will get into it by October. I do believe its better than 1000, I had to help set one up for a friend and the battery life and functionality is way better than that previous addition. Only thing I did notice the actual navigation didnt seem to have changed much, my friend wanted voice turn by turn notifications for when his wife uses on off road trails. Maybe that is something that Garmin could look into. But I guess thats a problem for battery life.

Replaced a Garmin Oregon inc OS maps with this. While it doesnt have the geographical features of an OS map, route finding is much easier with the navigation feature on following a GPX. Also has the MTB trails preloaded, which arent on OS maps so great for adding trail sections into a longer XC day. 6hr ride with screen on whole time only used 20 battery no connected devices so great for big days out. Pro climb screen useful but depressing

I can now just get on my bike and pedal and it will plota route to bring me back when I have had enough I can ask it to generate a route for me circular or just straight to a destination and it will I can also drag and drop GPX files on to it and it will give me turn by turn instructions. This for me is a game changer.

So far so good and none of the earlier Garmin crashes mid ride. Without an sd card slot space is limited particularly when Garmin Express repeatedly tries to update all of the map sets. Garmin have not been able to provide a solution to this as yet do youll get warnings every time you connect.Configuration is somewhat convoluted and needs to be done for every activity profile you use from the device itself … no app setup like the wahoo has. The supposed smart setup doesnt copy over activity profiles as per the guides which its a pain.The mapping and routing though are far better than most others Ive used and would be grounds for recommendation alone.

I have upgraded from an Edge 1000 Explore to this latest model from Garmin. I was dubious about how better it would be but I am not disappointed. The screen is so clear, indeed it looks like the backlight is always on, its not. It is also fast at loading courses and other information. There are lots of things that are better but the one that stands out is the tone alerts. My previous model was useless, so inaudible but this is anything but. Overall very pleased and worth the upgrade.

I had a 1030 before this model, and whilst there was nothing wrong with it I was in the position where I could upgrade. Visually the only difference is the colour change from white to black the screen looks slightly better, but its not a game changer. The one thing you will notice is the beeps they have changed the previous Garmin sign on to something more edgy and relevant for today. OK, so maybe not, but it is WAAAY louder than before. The mapping and routing is significantly quicker than before, and the new workout suggestion is useful. The battery life, which was amazing on the 1030 is even better on the Plus too. Being honest unless youre feeling flush its not a night and day improvement on the old 1030, but it is better in every way aside from weight youll really feel the extra gram over the 1030 on a long ride…. In my opinion, the best just got better.

I recently had a fall writing off my trusty Edge 810 which Id had for 7 years. A lesson learned here is not to use an out front mount on a MTBAfter some deliberation I decided to go for the Edge 1030 and what an improvement over the Edge 810. Only had the unit for 2 weeks but initial impressions are that it is a great upgrade.The larger screen and clear mapping make it so much easier to use on the road. The ability to search and use Trailforks to find and ride MTB or XC routes is very useful to me. All the other useful Garmin features are there and screens can be customised to suit every user.Customer service from Rutland was excellent although standard delivery took a bit longer than expected. However, given the excellent deal on the device this was a small inconvenience.

I have been using an Edge 705 for the past 12 years and, whist it still works and there is nothing wrong with it, I decided to upgrade to take advantage of the newer technology.The faster processor, quicker time to find a GPS signal, larger and better quality mapping and navigation, ease of uploading rides are all vastly superior to the Edge 705 and make it a worthwhile upgrade.

This is a excellent product. I like the way you can transfer routes with ease from Strava and other platforms. The battery life screen and maps are all excellent.But, live track rarely works its hit and miss and if if does its activated via the connect app and not the head u it despite stating it can do this. Given the price this is a premium product and functionality should be what is claim. Ive checked for all relevant software updates and this was prior to Garmin being subject to ransomware attack.

I bought this to replace a magnet based Trek device which I have had for years and which finally gave out. This device attaches to your bike in seconds and you get a spare fixing thingy so you can put it on a second bike if youre lucky enough to have more than one, like me. Press the start button and away you go. It shows speed, distance and duration of ride by default, and other screens give you a weather report, your altitude gain and position, though it doesnt have street names etc. it does loads of other things too e.g you can download a route from your pc and follow it on your bike. You dont need to have your phone with you when you ride, and in fact you dont have to connect it to your phone at all but it is useful to do this as you can personalise it, download data and so on you get the idea. You can also attach monitors via bluetooth, download courses, challenges etc and link with Strava and other apps.

I have just purchased this after just using my Garmin 735XT watch.I am pretty much blown awayI am sure, only having had it a few weeks, that i have only found about 10 of what it actually does. Love the fact that the different riding options, for example road bike or mountain bike, record your ride in a slightly different way.The mapping facility seems awesome, easy to use, and i have downloaded a few local trails from where i live in Sweden, all via the Garmin unit, was so easy.Battery usage seems as described, its easy to use and setup, easy to navigate.It came quite a few mounts so i can easily use it between my road and mountain bike.I am going to purchase another cadence and speed sensor so i dont have to swap those between the two bikes.The original cadence sensor was faulty, i emailed customer service and they sorted it asap, new one sent and works a treat.The amount of stats i now get from a ride are just ridiculously large, and i love it

While I loved my Edge 1030 I often got fed up with the unresponsive screen and loading times its frustrating getting an alert that a turn is coming up but not seeing which way until youre already at the junction.The new Edge 1030 plus solves all the issues I had with the 1030. The screen is crisper and more responsive and the processor gives alerts quicker and louder and theres no delay while going between screens or rerouting midcourse.The rerouting is handled much better now as well, so when going off course to pop to a nearby coffee shop you can pause the navigation or chose how you want to reroute, rather than just getting nagging alerts to turn around. Using Garmins popularity mapping means that its not going to take you down a farm track when theres a more used roadtrail nearby.If you have no issues with your 1030 then this is hard to recommend, but if youre upgrading from one of the older models then this is the best that Garmin have to offer and it shows.

Bought as an upgrade from a much older Garmin device edge 500. So far so good. Minimal setup required and loads of additional features. Great bit of kit.

Very user friendly and plenty of features for a novice cyclist. Simple to use and good battery life for the longer rides. Lots of different layouts for you to include a variety of data fields to keep you updated with your performance as you ride. Only drawback is the size of the mounts which dont fit the stem of my bike leaving less space on the handle bars for lights on those darker rides

I bought this in May 2021 for use on my road bike. Its small, but definitely big enough, and I can see all that I need to. Simple operation, clear screen thats easily customised, and links easily to Garmin, Strava and other Apps.

Just bought the Garmin 1030 plus and I think its brilliant. Easy to set up, loads of features. But remember to buy the sensors when you order, as most of the features on it dont work without them. The only down side to it is the price, but worth the investment.

Seems to work well. Screen lacks the colour depth of the 530 a bit faded but better in bright sunlight.

I wanted an alternative to mounting my phone something that would last for longer periods and have more features and came across the Garmin range. I decided to go for the Edge 1030 Plus due to its large colour screen, new features and included sensors. Overall, its a brilliant piece of kit really easy to use with loads of data. Whether its worth the cost is really dependant on how much you use it.

I have done some extensive research about which is the best bike computer and this came out on top followed by the Garmin Edge 1030.I hope to get started using this in the next couple of days on my turbo trainer covid and weather restrictions and I am sure it will do a very good job.

For the price this is an excellent little GPS computer for mountain biking.Ive been using it to load routes from stravakomoot and it has enabled me to find trails I never knew existed.Its compact, easy to read with great contrast, and is packed full of features.

This is a substantial step up from the garmin edge 1000, yes its mire pricey but, you do get a lot more features such as, timed when to eat and, drink, a must for those who forget. Other features such as, as better display and, a brilliant battery life. My old Garmin 100 would not last especially with mapping on , this easily lasted 110 miles and more.
