Being stuck indoors so much I had the urge to build a new PC to level up my PC experience. Mostly for gamesdesign software.I went with a smallfactor build and I didnt want to compromise on speed, so I decided to give AMD a shot. This was my first time trying out AMD, and I am super pleased. This has way more processing powercores than I know what to do with.I should have researched more before hand, but I didnt realize this processor came with its own cooling fan. Nice addin even if it went unused in my current build.Worth mentioning this was my first time at the MircoCenter store, everyone was super helpful. It would be too easy to spend hours window shopping there.

I wanted to like this, and sure I will, just not this one.The 3900X I received randomly restarts the computer,I am a Certified Computer Technician, Luckily I have 3 other systemsat home to test with. This was a new system build all new components, after restarts started I replaced each component systematically , all the way down to the CPU, After replacing, PSU, Motherboard, RAM, Video Card, BIOS updates on multiple Motherboards, fresh Windows Install with each attempt, Chipset updates. The end test was to install the CPU into a couple of my other 3 AMD AM4 tried and true systems, some with the same components as in this system Same issue with restarts.Im sure my replacement CPU will work great with all the positive reviews I have seen.

I wandered into Microcenter intending to do a new build with an i9 ten core processor, but in the back of my mind I remembered that the AMD Ryzen processors seemed to be beating the i9s on all the Passmark benchmarks. Anyway, I love Microcenter because all the guys that work there are enthusiasts like me. Even though I am not a gamer I do some heavy duty video and media production on my machine. The sales guy that was advising me on the final spec suggested I look seriously at the Ryzen 9. He also recommended the Noctus NHD155 cooler, which makes the system run really quietly. I am really glad I took his advice. This is an amazing machine It renders 2K HD video in about 16 of real time and 4K UHD video in real time with no proxy. I configured the system with 64GB of RAM and an RTX 2060 GPU. I couldnt be happier, the Ryzen 9 3900X is a great CPU. BTW the guys at Microcenter are a bit younger than me, I am 70…

This was more CPU than I needed but I upgraded from a ryzen 5 2600X and have no regrets. Works very well with a X570 board and the new boards also have some nice features like dual M.2 sockets. Benchmarks were great out of the box, and I am not overclocking at all. Seems to handle any application or cpu intense game Ive thrown at it. Though a ryzen 7 will probably suit most peoples needs, if you want to upgrade to this I doubt youll have any regrets. If you actually need a beefy CPU, this will probably be sufficient.

You will notice I gave this a 5 star but a no to recommend. You may ask why that is. It is a great chip and completely overkill for almost everyone. Unless you are editing video or something like that there arent many things that can utilize this chip even 50… in windows with chrome open right now windows task manager has it at 1 usage. I got mine during a deal where it was 399 and I am a sucker for overkill so I bought it but I have a few friends who are building or just built a computer as well and I pushed for them to buy the more affordable, and better for games which is more their use amd 3600. Also with the amd 3300 out now that can compete with the 3600 in most games I would probably suggest going even cheaper.Im using mine in a meshify s2 with a noctua nh d15 and its by far the best experience I have had with a computer, but do I recommend it Unless you are Editing video or some other power intense application no, and if you are doing those, I would probably recommend going up to the amd 3950x or waiting til ryzen 4000 chips come out.

Ive been using Intel cpus for over a decade and after plenty of research this time I decided to switch to AMD for my new build and have not been disappointed. So far I have barely been able to scratch the surface of what this can handle. I love the 12 core and 24 threads for doing work as I run many different programs at once without any hiccups. For gaming I am able to run every game I have, like DOOM, COD MW2019, No Mans Sky, and Skyrim on ultra high settings using Nvidia GTX 1070 FTW. The Wraith Prism Cooler has been doing a great job of keeping it cool, and stay pretty consistently around 3540C, and I took off the thermal paste that comes on it and used Noctua NTH1. Only thing to keep a look out for is with my setup with the MSI ACE X570 Meg out of the box has an issue after Win10 comes out of sleep mode the fans load curve does not work and will cause it to overheat but that is caused by the mobo not the cpu. Overall amazing.

I was able to take advantage of a Black Friday sale and picked this up for 399tax. Paired it with an Asus Crosshair Hero VIII, RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra, and G.Skill Trident Z RGB 64GB 2 x 32GB DDR43600. Handles CyberPunk without any issues. I also run heavyload programs for work that bottlenecked my old rig. Save a bunch of time now. Couldnt be happier.

I put this processor into a new build with the latest, fastest M.2 SSD. Unfortunately I had to install the garbage Win 10 in order to use new hardwares. I also left my beloved Win 7 build with a 4400 MHz older AMD processor and 2.5 SSd intact in another case, which I disconnected from online. The Ryzen system is clearly snappier, despite the practically same CPU frequences. It could be the much faster M.2 drive, 64GB memory, fresh registry and maybe the hated Win 10. Win 10 interface is nothing but a garbled Win 7, so I have to make shortcuts to locate the SAME features in the task bar.Yes, I would recommend this processor

This CPU has exceed all of my expectations. So far it has been able to handle everything that I have thrown at it. This includes gaming while streaming live or recorded TV and running CPU heavy programs like CTanalyzer, Dragonfly, and NRecon for data acquisition and analysis. Also it comes with a Wraith Prism Cooler that has managed to keep the CPU temperature within normal operating temperatures. This is one of the reasons that I prefer AMD chipsets over Intel. This CPU is overkill for most PC users but if you do video editing, stream content, or big data processing then this CPU is just perfect

I went from an abysmal I75500U that usually parked one of its two cores randomly, to building a 4core for a friend, to this 12core. Its a really great feeling to boot the computer up with a blazingly fast NVME, then see Windows in about 5 seconds, and THEN see task manager showing only 10 CPU usage immediately after reaching Windows. Incredible.I only start to reach its limits when exporting videos, and it chews through them very well. Fortunately, the number of threads usually doesnt have weird issues in games, while the 32 in the 3950x does to a greater degree. Also, DEFINITELY get an aftermarket cooler. I have a Noctua D15 Chromax that has only gotten over 80C when I OCD the Jesus out of this chip. I was cresting 200W at one point, but Cinebench certainly was happy. If you want to have a CPU that games well, works well, and is pretty energy efficient, this is a good pick. With a strong RAM OC, this thing is wicked fast. A great purchase, though, you will need to have quite a bit of knowhow to make it the most stable and use the chip to its full extent.

I came from an i77700 and wasnt up on what the latest in the AMDIntel wars had produced but just assumed that Intel was still top dog. After doing a bit of research I got extremely excited about the Ryzen 9 3950X and put the build together centered on this processor. Im excited to report that its been a beast so far and will easily do multiple jobs that Ive got it tasked for currently, and likely will have more in the future. Handles the big thing being gaming and multitasking for general productivity with ease, and does an expected but welcome and beyond satisfactory job with virtualization. Ive been able to build VMs in quickly and not have to worry about too much core utilization or overall performance hit. While the i7 does it I feel like this thing just chews it up without thinking about it fantastic. Highly recommend stepping up to the 3900 series

Very easy to adjust for manual OC or just as good to set PBO autoOC. I played with the stock cooler with a small OC. I dislike hearing fans ramping up under basic functions so didnt push stock cooler. I paired 32gb 3600 ram and nvme. Ive been Editting video 1080 and rendered 4k I am completely happy with time to finish. Gaming is excellent paired with my 2070 super ultra. The 3900x just for gaming is too much. I think most people could save some money by getting a 3600 and buy a 2070 or 2080 super. The stock rgb cooler leds turn off at a lower rpm. Both argb and usb work. The argb cable isnt as noticeable.I installed an aio and did aquick OC 4.1 and barely heard fans. When I set PBO autoOC I seen single core 4.6 and multi 4.3. Temps 40c idle, max multicore 70c. Was happy with that so didnt need to push a manual OC.

We needed a motherboard with pcie 4.0 to support a chosen video card. This lead to memory and the CPU upgrade as well. On paper the AMD looked much better then the Intel. We decided to give it a shot. Were glad we did. It performed flawlessly. The upgrade was certainly noticed in the capability handling common tasks and certainly met new requirements with ease.

This CPU is capable of handling anything you can throw at it… and if you Overclock it just a little youre talking high end productivity. Games run flawlessly on this Chip. Ryzen has set the bar very high with this CPU. If you play games and need the Power for productivity this is your CPU. Believe me if you just want this chip for productivity you can really cut your rendering times and processing times so drastically. I recommend this card to anyone that uses a computer to make money. The return on your investment will be so worth it.

To start this review, I am no biased fanboy. I liked what AMD did here. They packed 12 physical cores into this chip which you can plug and play into any AM4X570 chipset since the BIOS is updated from the manufacturer or you can get the BIOS update for X470 and below. Always check the CPU support list. For my needs, I didnt want to go threadripper and I wanted a ITX setup. This chip fits my budget and already I am impressed. This AMD Ryzen 9 3900x is a chip I can grow into over time. I didnt see the need to pay an extra 200 for an additional 4 cores of the 3950x. But hey, if you want that you can. But 12 cores is enough for me. Works perfectly out of the box on ASUS ROG X570I ITX motherboard.

If youve been struggling with some old Blue chip that only had 4 cores, and you find yourself wanting to be like all your other friends who have 6 or 8 or even 10, well now is the time to walk directly by those others and directly into your nearest micro center to pick up an AMD 3900x with 12 cores of delight.Think of the look on your friends faces when you tell em that you have extra cores just waiting around for more work to do.But seriously, this is one fine chip. Pair it with a good motherboard and probably an AIO cooler. If your gaming, you may be a few FPS slower than some Blue chips, but if you program or create content, youll be flying high.

I have been an Intel CPU user my whole life, but decided to go with an AMD chip on my new PC build. I could not be happier with my decision choosing the R9 3900x over the i99900k. I use my pc for engineering simulation, 3D CAD, as well as gaming, and the 3900x tackles everything I throw at it with ease. The i9 might be marginally better seriously, marginally when it comes to gaming performance, but the difference is negligible. The 3900xs extra cores make it an excellent CPU for both gaming and traditionally workstationoriented tasks, not to mention the significant difference in price when compared to the i9its real only competitor. The only reason I took a star off is because it runs a bit hot average around 67C even when paired with a Noctua NHD15, but that is only under heavy load and, any highpower CPU should be expected to run as such unless you have a highend closedloop cooler.Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the 3900x across the board, and may have been officially converted to team red…. At least for now.

There has been a lot of news about the 3900X. I can attest to the fact that the CPU is blazingly fast. When using applications, the CPU kills Intels i9 9900K. But all is not perfect. While rated for as much as 4.6 GHz, 90 of users have polled that the CPU never reaches that speed. My sample maxes out at 4.45 GHz. Also note that AMD rates the CPU speed only at one core, i.e. all the other cores may not reach advertised speeds. So while my CPU peaked at 4.45 GHz, most of the cores only averaged 4.35 GHz.Another issue is that the CPU runs hot, as much as 95100 degrees, even a 280mm water cooler. Previous CPUs would run as high as 8085 degrees so the AMD is a lot hotter. This is due to the smaller 7nm die and high clock speed. It is constantly running at 1.485 volts, even at idle. This high voltage is not conducive for long life.On the other hand, this CPU kills the Intels when running applications that are multicore friendly since this CPU has 12 cores and Intels i9 9900K only has eight. I use the AMD for rendering videos, which usually takes about 45 minutes, the same video will take about 6075 minutes on the fastest Intel CPU, the i9 9900K. The speed difference is a lot higher when compared to Intels i7 9700K which has eight cores but no hyperthreading the AMD has 24.Playing games, the AMD is a tad slower than the Intel, because games run better at higher CPU speeds and are not core dependent, but the differences are usually about 37, negligible when you are looking at 120150 fps with a good GPU.Be also aware that the X570 motherboards designs are all over the place. You have to get a board that has a well designed voltage regulator layout. Some boards have only a 42 design which means the VRMs hit 125 degrees. The CPU will throttle back its speed until the VRMs cool down and repeats this cycle. Better boards have as much as a 142 VRM design which keeps the VRM temps to about 6070 degrees.

I picked up my 3900X impulsively with my equally overkill for my current needs Crosshair VIII Formula motherboard so i could get the bundle discount Micro Center regualy offers, and it was one of my better in the moment decisions, lol. Nothing can really compare to having 12 cores24 threads of sheer multitasking power to ravenously devour any and all tasks i can throw at it. Paired with that previously mentioned ASUS x570 chipset motherboard and its equally aweinspiring features, mainly the jawdropping speeds that come with PCIe gen 4 not really useful for GPU slots atm, but toss a Seagate Firecuda 520 in a M.2 slot, and then you can really see the true abilities of AMDs suprising return to relevance, and you get, imo, the best preformance per dollar for any type of poweruser there is. Yes, there are now the XT variants, as well as the 3950 X not to mwention Threadripper, but the price difference as compared to the 3950X, and the lack of included cooler and extremly marginal increses in boostOC speeds with the XT, really make the 3900X shine as the toptier CPU option for users who want to build a multipurpose PC that should easily keep up for the next 35 years. mine sits at a 4.4 GHz all core boost, a 15 OC, at 1.35 V max, 38 C idle, and never going over 65 C at most under load using an Alphacool Eisbear Extreme watercooling system for the CPU and air cooling everything else.tldr Best value for anyone looking to build a content creationstreamingmulti faceted high end PC. Just be sure to pair with a quality X570 mobo to really take advantage of all this monster has to offer.

I built my first gaming PC just 2 weeks ago. Im not well versed in all things PC. However its been in my todo list to build my own PC. I went from an Intel computer quite a few years back, to a Ryzen 7 1700 for a couple of years. While being a prebuilt PC from NZXT, it had plenty of customization options. It was also a great stepping stone into learning more and eventually deciding to make a better rig. In terms of raw productivity this is incredible. I run multiple applications with no issues. Often utilizing Lightroom, Photoshop, Premier Pro with 4k video, and After Affects all at once. Gaming is still super responsive. For my needs this was well worth it. Also got this pricematched by best boy for just over 400 dollars. Quick and easy Def recommend.

Pros been using it for about a month now its definatly is a beast and rips through anything, paired with a Good GPU iv got the 3070 its probably overkill, im using it with the corsair hydro h100i, runs around 45c idle or for browsing around 5560c, when editing or exports it has got to 75c, gaming around 50c at 15 cpu usage, but thats because the GPU takes over, but literally running it on quiet mode, not turbo or extreme profiles, still trying to get used to the fan curves and figure out the optimal settings, maximum boost also it runs at 4.2GHz cant seem to get it to boost higher at the moment.Cons coming from a quad core to 12 core cpu, i cant think of any negative points

Well, its not a Threadripper, but the 3900X is the best value for your money in the consumer market at least until the 5900X is available for purchase. The 3900X offers 12 physical cores and a total of 24 threads. You could be paying close to double for the 16c32t 3950X, but when the 3900X is on sale and not at its original MSRP, dont hesitate to buy.If you find yourself wanting to process a lot of data at once, the 3900X gives you the parallel processing head room to achieve A LOT of stuff at once. Do you stream video games to YouTube or Twitch Did you want to encode that using the software x264 encoder Do you use audio processing software to tweak your vocals in realtime How about being on a Discord call and wanting to capture your buddies voices, too The 3900X can do all of this at once and still not be under full load.

if you have a 2nd or 3rd series 600x, 700x or 800x you might not see large enough gains but i need the cores and thou future proofing is a fools errand ,i feel im there for a few years.I plan to get a High end GPU if i can win the shuffle or wait and run my 1660S till then.I am into quiet and you still need a different fan for quiet operation, my whole system is less than 21db when running full out and unheard otherwise. In short this is an excellent work horse and if youre looking for work and gaming its a champ.Okay this going to get more technical as I go deeper but Ill try to put that lower down. For gaming its fine but if youre just streaming consider 3700x. Its an excellent alternative.Boost clock issue This CPU currently 9619 does not hit its advertised boost cooler master ml370r some very expensive mother boards do get close or beyond sometimes. A high end Aorus or ROG is needed for that. Update is said to be coming to fix this issueOverclocking Notes After following every OC guide I could find I can say it is possible to beat Precision Boost Overdrive By a good amount tooMotherboardOne of the main problems is that VRM Temps are too high with the boosting on this system. Aorus Pro, ROG Strix, or TUF seem to have the best VRM temps. Some people do undervolt to fix this.If you have an x470 motherboard make sure to patch it first or contact AMD and they will actually send you a CPU to boot and update.RAMThe infinity fabric that connects the two dies is tied to the ram speed. So get quality RAM with good timings and clocks. Just google a calculator so you dont get screwed with bad timings after 3800 it does decouple from the infinity fabric.Linux notesThis one has been a struggle. I havent tried it with every Linux distro but here are my experiences.DebianWorks like a charm so far but I havent had it running very but it will at least run.ArchNo. Some of the bugs are patched but after two manual builds, manjaro, and anarchy none of them would fully boot. It would freeze during start up 9119 releaseI hear Ubuntu too does work for the 3900x but I dont personally use it

I hope this lasts a long time. I was still running an 8350 and it still ran everything I wanted to run. But it was getting old. First time I took a chance to try to future proof a little since I was scanning online sources that said x box was going to 8 core. Software could only follow. I figured that Intel being 10 core, software was sure to compensate to use those threads soon. Sorry 6 core users. I think those will be a thing of the past with out serious gpu upgrades in the next two years. Those can get quite expensive, so why worry about bottlenecks.

I am very happy with this CPU. I was skeptical at first and thought it wouldnt be a good replacement for my 2700x, but I was wrong. I could only get 4.1ghz manual OC on the 2700x at 1.4125V. I am able to get 4.3ghz across all cores at 1.35V on the 3900x WOW It is extremely stable and gets around 3365 all cores and 209 single core in Cinebench R15. This thing performs well and is easily the most efficient 12c24t cpu on the market today.

I was initially going to go for a 3800X, but the 3900X seemed much more worth it. This processor does not disappoint, and with the help of my Samsung M.2 NVME SSD, I get fantastic speeds and power out of this cpu. Would recommend this processor to anyone who is looking to upgrade. If you are going to get this cpu, make sure you get the proper aftermarket cpu cooler too especially Noctua coolers. With a NHU14S, idle temps are around 40 degrees Celsius.

Paired it with an ASUS X570 TUF Gaming Wifi motherboard with 32Gb of DDR4 3200 RAM and a Radeon RX 5700 XT 50th Anniversary Edition, you know, just to stick it to the Man. Things an absolute monstrosity, chews through any workload like Garfield through a lasagna. Versus Intels i9 9900k, you wont see a difference in gaming unless youre counting a few frames difference that youd never notice without the FPS counter. The kicker is the multithreaded performance. If youre, say, running high resolution video editing or rendering programs, then the Ryzen 9 3900X humiliates the i9 9900k. Indeed, it stuffs the 9900k into its locker with a bag of dirty gym socks. Then it takes the 9900ks girlfriend to the senior prom. Then it cheats on her with the 9900ks sister. If you want a workstation that doesnt skimp on gaming prowess, look no further. Just got this processor for my workgaming machine. I do a lot of video and photo editing, and a lot of miscellaneous tasks that require a healthy amount of horsepower.Going from an i77700k to this was absolutely worth it. Encoding times are between 15 and 80 percent shorter depending on bitrate, my workflow for animating and editing is absolutely seamless, and I can continue working or playing games while renderingencoding. For gaming, my RTX 2080 is now the bottleneck and games that are CPUintensive run infinitely better.Complete 1110, this thing is a beast. AMD is really out here changing the game

Ive always been an Intel advocate, and up until recently all the builds Ive done have used An Intel processor. That said, its simply impossible to ignore AMDs line now, and products like this are a perfect example of innovation why would I pay more for an Intel processor that does lessAs of the writing, Ive only used the processor for about a month, but its no slouch. 12 cores at a very competitive price makes for a good product. I dont see myself going back to Intel anytime soon. The purchase process at micro center was particularly simple. I did a instore pickup and was impressed by the companys dedication to safety in the middle of the pandemic. Overall, good processor, good product line, good purchase experience, and good price. Strongly recommend.

Just received this today and am impressed with the packaging by NewEgg. Ryzen box itself is nothing to write home about, but is nice enough to display if thats your thing. Comes with the massive Wraith PRISM air cooler which I will never use, but others may find it useful. As with previous Ryzen CPUs, they are packaged well and include the traditional Ryzen decal. Just ordered my x570 Crosshair VIII Hero today as they just came back in stock. Once I receive the aforementioned mobo I will update my review. If it matters to others I am upgrading from a Ryzen 5 1600x paired with a ASRock Fatality x370 Pro Gaming that has given me zero performance issues productivitygaming wise. Lastly, Ive read reviews across multiple vendors about this being Out of Stock more often than not. It may not help everyone, but I did utilize the Auto Notify feature to great success. NewEgg I would suggest making more of these CPUs available as stand alone purchases rather than include them in bundles. A lot of consumers may not require the X570 board vand are content with there current x470. If youre willing to spend this kind of money on a CPU and Motherboard then saving 20 is not that huge of a deal in my opinion.

Phenomenal CPU, absolutely crushes Intels 9900k which is roughly the same price at most tasks. Intel does have a slightly higher base clock speed so it has a slight edge on single core benchmarks though this 3900x has plenty of room for overclocking and exceeds the Intel at single core tasks for the same clock speed. The extra cores and threads on this CPU set it above the rest for realworld tests and multicore benchmarks. Excellent CPU for streaming, gaming, video editingrendering, and just about anything else.Theres no reason not to buy this CPUI highly recommend this CPU, and also suggest pairing it with one of the new x570 motherboards.

Pros Ive always been an AMD user. I recently upgraded from a 2700x on a x370 motherboard. Upgraded to x570 with a 3900XT processor. Huge upgrade, so much more powerful for both work and gaming. Im not going to upgrade to the 5700X. Next gen for me now.Cons The price was a bit high and the CPU never came with a cooler.

I can recommend the 3900x as one of the best bangs for your buck.Pros1. Insanely fast even when not overclocked and it has 12 cores that dont even sweat.2. I use it for both gamingstreamingvideo editing and it just runs everything I can throw at it with ease.Cons1. I recommend getting a new motherboard of x570 series because using older x470 would need a bios update and it took me a little bit to get it set up before I switched to x5702. AMD didnt make enough of them for the number of people jumping to buy one, and vendors other than Micro Center are selling them at ridiculous marked up prices, while microcenter stayed frim on their low price.I exclusively shop at Micro Center for computer parts so when it was time to upgrade my desktop I chose the Ryzen 9 3900x. All across the country they were sold out from almost EVERY seller in the USA and the only way to get one was through Ebay. Then I found one at Microcenter in another state not my local store. I ended up driving 2 12 hours to pick one up at a Maryland Micro Center. This CPU was absolutely worth the drive. The price from Micro Center and the 2 12 drive in gas were cheaper than if I purchased one on ebay at a super high premium and had it shipped.

I upgraded from an Intel 6850K and OH MY GOSH. This processor is an absolute monster. I went back and fourth debating whether i should wait for the 5000 series ryzen or not, or the rocket lake processors, I am VERY pleased with this purchase. This thing is a monster. I recommend you use an Allinone liquid cooler with it. I run 42C to 61C with a liquid cooler even through 4K EXTREME 3D benchmarks. I have NOT noticed any bottlenecks from the 16 PCIE lanes… Im running an NVME boot drive and a 3090. it works just fine and is smoking everything I throw at it.

Honestly, it was a toss up between the I9 and 3900x for my new upgrade. Ive been on an 8 core FX for 6 yrs and decided I needed an upgrade. I spent a lot of time listening to experts, researching use cases and trying to decide what to do. In the end the 3900x won. What can you say about 12 physical cores and 12 additional threads for 24 working threads The over 4Ghz potential clocking PCI4 This processor and its feature set is simply astounding.I do development work in Visual Studio and needed a bit better performance with the Android emulator well I got more than a bit better performance. The Android emulator is actually usable. I loaded up YouTube on it and was watching videos and forgot I was using an emulator.I paired this to the MSI X570 Tomahawk hoping to sort of future proof with the AM4 socket and 64GB DDR4 and 2TB SSD. This is probably the most technically sophisticated DIY homebuilt Ive ever had. But given the ecosystem for this processor it does shine very brightly in performance. But it is utterly cool to have Windows 10 show you the number of cores you have and you see 24No overclocking going on at the moment the stock state is plenty fast enough for what I do. It runs very cool and the stock Wraith cooler with the liquid colors is pretty neat.Yeah…get the 3900x or the xt…its amazing Simply amazing

Im writing this after the release of the 5000x cpu, and originally tried to get a 5800x. I realized that it was unlikely Id be able to get one anytime soon with all the COVID related shortages, so I decided to go with this instead. This was priced very competitively to the 5800x, and had 4 additional cores, so I decided to go with the 3900. Its been great so far It pairs nicely with my 3070, and is a great upgrade from my i7 7700 in my previous workstation. If you were originally hoping for a 5800x, and are looking for something you can actually get now, I think this is a great value for what it is, and it still comes with the RGB wraith prism cooler, if thats important to you.

Bought a R9 3900X and ASRock X570 Steel Legend but wasnt thoroughly impressed with boot times yes with an SSD, not HDD and compatibility issues with Windows 10. Wanted to upgrade from an i7 8700kZ390. Installed outside the case, with clean install of Windows 10 1909 and RAM on the motherboards QVL list. No issues with RAM, enabled XMP and booted slow but fine. Updated BIOS and booted up. But my issues were in task manager, windows 10 common settings, application downloads and storage issues. Task Manager wouldnt show complete memory profile like Ive normally seen with numerous other systems. Storage settings could not be configured the way I could configure on other Windows 10 systems. Would not allow me change to storage settings. Tried downloading AMD Ryzen Master but could not. Kept getting errors saying program was already installed. UninstalledReinstalled numerous times same issue. Other Windows store apps were just straight up not working. This was all with NEW CLEAN install of OS and Drivers. Frustrated at 2 am after all this, on a work night haha Tested performance of system, stress tested RAM and CPU. Passed, stayed cool with my 360mm AIO and great scores…But my issues with this platform is compatibility. If a brand new CPUmotherboardRAM with an RTX 2070 cant play nice with the most widely used OS in the world I have no use for it. This may not be the CPU but rather the X570 chipset. Im not sure. I wanted something that would work out of the box. Didnt have time for the AMD program to get a compatible CPU for a cheaper B450 or X470 board. Bought X570 for the generational leap it took with PCIE 4.0 and wanted a 7nm CPU…Needless to say I returned the CPUMotherboard to Micro Center.

Spent a lot of time picking out top quality parts to upgrade my girlfriends computer. Although my girlfriend doesnt know about the technicalities of computers as much, she has noticed the major upgrade in her hardware and performance as she relies on something powerful for all of her needs for editing, streaming, gaming, etc. She also really appreciates that it lights up like the cherry on top. I also sleep easy knowing that I was able to provide her with a top notch product. Thank you Ryzen

In scientific and engineering computing, the order of the day is cores, cores, and more cores. Maximum throughput is whats needed, not maximum speed on a single task.Until the 3950X drops, this CPU is top of the heap for both priceperformance and performancewatt when undervolted. And it might beat the 3950 on priceperformance, but if you need another 4 cores per socket, then youll need the 3950.At stock clocks and voltages, its a hot and hungry beast. It underclocks and undervolts amazingly, however. Mine is running at 3.55GHz, burning 78W with all 24 threads at 100 utilization. And its still between 10 and 15 faster than the 2700 in realworld average workunit completion speeds.Except for the one case the Rosetta molecular dynamics package where its fully twice as fast because of its gigantic 70MB L3 cache. But thats an outlier and awesome outlier

The 3900x in my opinion hits a priceperformance sweet spot. 20 more than expensive than comparable mainstream 8 core cpus like 3800x, but offering 50 more threads. If you do any CPU intensive work like video editing, pro audio, codingcompiling, that extra horsepower means you can get more done faster. In my case I run a digital audio workstation, and extra cores gives me more tracks and more potential softsynth voices. If youre a pure gamer, its not for you other than installing games faster, compressingdecompressing files, you dont see much benefit from the excess threads. Maybe in the future that will be different, but at the moment 68 cores will do you fine. But i like the extra power for both multitasking as well as creative work.

Really enjoying the CPU, switched from an intel i76700k so the capability far exceeds what I was using. I was hoping to get my hands on a Ryzen 95900X, but a lot of us were Im sure. Im just happy Microcenter had this in stock so I really cant complain. Its quick and works incredibly well. Does run a little hotter, but I mean its Ryzen and my old Skylake processor was known not to run hot to begin with. Definitely not anywhere near hot enough to be concerning even under load Using 360 AIO. Id say if you really need a new CPU and you cant hang on for stock of 5000 series, you cant go wrong with this guy.

Despite Intels weird marketing and need for motherboard upgrade with Comet Lake, there early gen cpus were built to last. The 4790k held up for me for 6 years, but has been struggling as of late with newer games and workloads. Switching to AMDs 3900x I went from 75 util. in Star Wars Fallen Order, and no other programs running, down to 15. Has been great so far. My biggest gripe, is that I wish AMD Ryzen Master would keep settings every boot, instead of having to manually do it each time. Have it paired with a Dark Rock Pro 4, and it keep the temps low enough, but it most definitely runs hotter than my previous i7. Now patiently waiting the release of Nvidias next RTX line3000 series cause my current nonTi 1080 is starting to show its age as well.

Very powerful processor, will last for years, more like 5. Mine OC well with one CCD doing 4.5ghz and the other 4.3ghz. Later ones would do better as a note when the 7nm process matured more making these. If you cant get a Zen 3 or 5900x, these on sale can be a good bargain. I have no issue with gaming performance and professional application performance.

I have been waiting a long time for AMD to step up their desktop CPUs and at last my wait is over.As a computer enthusiast my PC builds can be somewhat heavy handed, and with this Ryzen 9 3900X my current build is over the top. This 3900x chip is literally a Beast, a twelve cored 24 threaded Beast.I am a technical consultant that works from home and I built this system for both business and pleasure.By day my system is triple monitor, dual rad water cooled, 32 gigs, 4.4Ghz over clocked leviathan that powers through my daily research, graphic manipulations, multi appd work requirements without missing a beat. The multicore power of the 3900x lives up to the proverbial hype. Im able to skype with clients, share what Im working on, research the web and creatingmanipulate images in real time with my clients without a hiccup across all three monitors.By night I bath in the soft glow of RBG as I use AMD Eyefinity to merge my monitors into one for epic gaming glitz. Even though MWO prefers Nvidia cards, my 5700xt with this 3900x powers through games with a silkysmooth frame rate. I knew the 3900X would improve my game play, but I didnt expect it to be a difference like day and night. I now have a smooth stutter free 105 frame rate that just takes my game play in MWO to an unbelievable level. I yield. The AMD Ryzen 9 3900x finally provides computer builders, beginners and enthusiast alike, the ability to build affordable highend GamingWorkstations yes, I said GamingWorkstations without having to compromise performance for pleasure.

I gave the CPU 5 stars because its been a good performer even though the cooler isnt quite adequate with its defect. I know my thermals will drop to more suitable levels once the Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition comes in having used the older hyper 212 evo on hotter running cpus like the FX 8350 and my Ryzen 7 1800x and those systems never had an issue with thermal throttling. update edit After installing my Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition I see my load temps are now holding 74 degrees Celcius. The 3900x is an outstanding CPU and I hope others have better luck with the stock cooler than I did.

AMD Ryzen 9 processor opens a whole new world in gaming. The CPU with its stock heat sink works without flaw. For a few extra dollars above the 5 and 7 AMD Ryzen generation, it outperforms in many necessary needs through software and gaming. Matching this up with the right motherboard and memory modules is worth every penny. There are more powerful CPUs out there for sure, but the AMD Ryzen 9 3900x is one of the best available in this price range although 5800x would also be worth considering if it were in stock, especially if youre thinking about pairing it with an RX 6000 series GPU. The 3900x should be a good CPU for gaming and multimedia productivity tasks. That it comes with a wraith prism cooler is also a nice plus. Its the first time Ive gone with AMD over Intel, but it really wasnt a difficult choice this time round.

This is an excellent processor and paired well with a 30 series graphics card to allow some pretty smooth gaming while at the same time completing everyday or work tasks. The 12 cores gives me the perfect amount of room to run multiple heavy load things at the same time without any bottleneck. I have thrown some fairly large loads at this CPU and I still havent reached 100 usage at any point which is very impressive considering what I doing with it.

This chip is a great bargain for the money. For having 12 cores and 24 threads, its a productivity power house. Gaming is also no sweat for this CPU. There hasnt been a task that Ive thrown at this CPU that it cant handle. From rendering large videos during editing, to playing the most demanding titles, it handles it with no issue. I recommend using a better cooler, whether it be a higher end air cooler, all in one liquid cooler, or custom water cooling as it can get a little hot with the stock cooler. If you use the stock cooler, I advise you to lock the CPU voltage to 1.2901.300. Stock bios settings bring the voltage up to over 1.4 during a heavy load and that causes the chip to get hot. I never saw it thermal throttle however, but if you dont like seeing a high temp, this would be good for you. Overall, Im very happy with this chip and its still a great buy even with the recent release of Zen 3 CPUs.

The Ryzen 3900x can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it. Super speedy, easy to install, and comes with its own cooler although I would recommend getting a beefier cooler if youre planning on overclocking. I love this thing. I seriously cant stress that enough. Its a great bang for your buck compared to the Intel 9900k. The only conceivable downside I see with it is that the motherboards that can take this chip to its full potential x570 are reasonably expensive. But thats the ONLY downside. I literally cannot recommend this chip enough.

I decided no to wait 50 years to upgrade to the latest and greatest CPU and I am happy I did. This thing is not the absolute latest processor but a beast compared to the AM3 FX 6core processor I was running. It shows up as 24 single cores. Whats not to like about that. I am not overclocking so I cant comment on that aspect but if thats your forte go for it. It handles more than I throw at it which is mostly video related on Win10 with an X580 MSI card and tons of programs and multitasking. I am no longer getting gray hair waiting for things to get done.

I selected this CPU because my goal was to use my computer as a workstation, running multiple VMs without bogging down. When paired with a Taichi x570, 3600CL16 memory, and a PCIe gen4 disk, this computer takes everything I throw without breaking a sweat. The CPU generally runs cool even with the stock cooler, though Im sure the copious number of fans in my case contribute to that. Please keep in mind, most people do not need the amount of power in this CPU. If your goal is for a decent desktop for basic tasks or even for gaming, stick to one with fewer cores and save a few bucks. If, on the other hand, youre running heavy multithreaded loads, there is no better bang for the buck.

I would most definitely recommend this product, IF you have a need, or the price point doesnt bother you. 3700x would be more than sufficient for most people. But I wanted it lol. According to HWMonitor, it pulls 150160 watts under my test use, streaming Star Citizen. Stays at or under 125 while just playing, usually around 100 watts. Again in Stat Citizen, which uses ALL the threads. Would be cautious about putting this in to budget boards with poor vrms. Excellent 1 lows , nice improvement there. Higher overall fps, but dont expect magic over first gen Ryzen. Oh, and when you forget and leave another game running in the background, it just doesnt care.

Coming from a 7700k was a dilemma Go 10900k, 10 cores blazing fast but no PCI 4 or go AMD slower but with PCI 4 What I didnt consider is that you can all core clock an intel to 5Ghz, but with AMD youll be lucky if you can get 4.4Ghz, if gaming go with Intel, cant stress this enough My 7700k runs AC Odyssey smooth as silk 1440p Ultra This 3900XT has a decent amount of micro stutter both stock settings or overclocked Also be really careful with bios settings Until I disabled Precision Boost Overdrive computer was shutting down and failing to post even after taking bios battery out Still couldnt get to bios because Auto is default. So I would recommend disabling this immediately and even now its only been 2 days with no crashes since I disabled it so hopefully this was the solution. Possibly because I have C14 3600 ram at 1.45v default so PBO disabling power limits mightnt play well with fast low latency RAM voltage down the chain Stock boosts well to 4.67 on most cores but I settled for a 4.35ghz all 12 core overclock as the temps idle at 2728 with my X63 which I think is pretty awesome, boosting enabled will increase your idle temps dramatically. Incredibly fast at encryption and rendering, blew me away actually. So leave it at stock and disable PBO or dont overclock it more than 4.35 Maybe 4.4 depending on the silicon lottery. Short version Its Growing on me.

I have a 3900x on a msi pro carbon B450 motherboard with corsair vengeance 3200 ram. The cpu runs great up to 4.5 so far across all cores through the BIOS, so far Ive seen lowering voltages has greatly helped my corsair h150i in being able to keep it around 70 multi core stress testing for a bit. Havent been able to see yet if I can tweak it abit more to drop the temps more. But my only con so far is that it looks to be certain aio copper plates like on the h150i might possibly not actually be as wide as it should be to actually have water across the whole cpu die, which technically isnt the CPUs fault. But now if you have a aio with a larger surface area it possibly might be even better. possibly lower voltages at lower speeds could also help people with heat issues too.

Its no secret the chip can get hot. To decrease this issue I did the following things Bought a very strong power supply so it never over draws juice EVGA 750w gold Bought a motherboard with plenty of built in heatsinks and fan connectors msi 570 unify A case with great airflow that came with fans fractal meshify c Some extra fans Corsair fans that light up blue, to calm down the processor Set my large fans 140mm at top of case by CPU fan to pull hot air out and away as fast as I can. Finally if you want to keep idle temps in the 30s and mild working temps in the 40s then go into your power plan settings in windows and set the minimum CPU power draw to 13 and the maximum to 99. This prevents the darn thing from power boosting and jumping up and down 10 degrees in temp as so many people report. Overall Yes ,I highly recommend this chip. It does need a little tlc to get up and going, but once it does it is a beast. I can just chew through music production and video editing with this thing. Heck, my old laptop would buckle, scratch, and pop if I loaded too many plugins into my saw mixcraft 9, but this thing can run 30 tracks with reverbs, compressord, eqs and only hit 13 CPU usage. Just insane. Also, the included fan is just fine, you dont need anything better. If you buy expensive cooling and do all the things I recommend, you maybe save a few degrees of temp, so not with it. Plus, included cooler looks really cool with rgb

I always purchased Intel, but lately, theyve been a bit off their game and wanted to try AMD. I do software development, and a bit of gaming, and this is really overkill for those applications. Its a solid CPU, is very fast coming from a 6700k, and theres just a lot of cores threads for anything you can throw at it. System performance is always a combination of hardware, cpu, memory, storage speed, etc., but I have to say everything just leaps onto the screen. I have large Visual Studio projects, that just jump up in an instant when you launch them. Im just blown away by how fast this is, granted my Sabrent Rocket NVMe 4.0 helps here, boot speed is less than 10 seconds on a Asus ROG Crosshair Viii wifi motherboard. The Asus AI software was able to comfortably overclock the CPU about 13, and thats fine, theres really no reason to even push the CPU, as theres so much there to begin with. Gaming is fine, I game at 2k with a 2080 super and I havent seen any issues with compatibility or frame rates with this combination. If you dont need all the coresthreads, go with the 3700x and save the money, if you have workflow that requires it like video editing or just bragging rights, you wont be dissapointed. I tend to keep my equipment for 4 to 5 years and just upgrade where I need to. Im definitely good for the next few years with this.

I upgraded from a 3600 to this 3900X since I like to watch multiple college football games using hulu streams while playing games all on the same screen. The 3600 was only able to handle 1 or 2 streams while playing a CPU intensive game like Cities Skylines without having CPU usage related stutter. With this 12 core monster I can stream 5 games and play Cities with zero stutter. This thing just chews through anything you throw at it. Archiving files is more than twice as fast on this CPU. If you do anything while gaming or anything other than gaming for that matter theres absolutely no reason to purchase the Intel equivalent CPU i9 9900K unless you have a workload that can make use of AVX512 or you just enjoy overclocking for the sake of overclocking.

It is a highend CPU value worth buying, even though the XT series is already available and even the next generation Ryzen is due out due to the value performance ratio. For 430 ish USD yo get 12 cores and 24 threads, thats something intel cant offer you and I know its not the same clockspeed, Ryzen is slower, but that doesnt mean its bad. Unless you are a competitive player that needs the higher FPS count as possible then AMD got your back. This cpu is capable of doing everything, playing games and productivity where the multicore shines. The bottom line for me was if you are someone who cares about money and want to get as much as you can, buy this. If money is not a problem buy Intel, and even so I would highly recommend buying the most expensive AMD consumer CPU and spending the rest on video card and storage.

Firstly, let me preface this by saying that the 3900X is an incredible chip, as are all the CPUs in the current Ryzen range. That said, the XT variant has for me been extremely disappointing for me, especially given all the review material for the XT chips has focused on this being an enthusiast level product, that only makes sense for people who are serious about enjoy overclocking which I am and I do. Whilst Im fully aware there will be people who have done very well out of the silicon lottery with the XT chips and the cynic in me finds it highly convenient that all is the reviewers ended up with really great chips. That said, Im definitely not one of these people. My 3900XT cant even hit the advertised speeds most of the time, and even when it does, its so brief its pointless, and only on one of the two same cores every time, as the other 10 cant seem to manage more than 4.2. This is with a 360mm AIO and one of the best X570 motherboards money can buy, so even Prime 95 temps barely touch 70, meaning Im not exactly cooling limited either. How my chip has passed the binning process to qualify as an XT chip, I have literally no idea. Overall, Im really happy with the performance of the 3900X. Im just really disappointed its been sold as an XT when the binning is this bad, and would absolutely not invest in another XT variant CPU in the future short of some really serious changes being made to AMDs binning process. To clarify, if I was reviewing the 3900X, Id be giving it 5 stars. Sadly Im reviewing the 3900XT, which for me has been a 1 star product.

If you reading about a boxed CPU then you probably already know how AMD and there Ryzen CPUs have changed the market. Intel sat to long with just minor performance improvements over the years and let AMD catch up. But even more frustrating is Intel needing new motherboards with new CPUs. I just built a small ITX computer and this is an amazing about of processing power for the price. I was worried about getting the X model when the XT versions were due but it turned out the performance difference is probably not work the extra cost. For 3D rendering, virtualization, or other heavy workloads, this is an amazing value.I live on an island with no retail electronic stores nearby, so I order just about everything online. Best Buy was one of the few vendors to restock the 3900x at MSRP, which was a big deciding point for me giving them my business. I built a new system a few weeks ago, replacing a 10yearold dualcore i5 desktop and a 9yearold Atombased small server with a Ryzenbased desktop. Depending on the workload, the new system is up to 10x faster. Very satisfying.I am not a gamer, so I dont have much use for the RGB LEDs built into the cooling fan, but I cant see them with the case closed anyway. The only feature that is missing for me is integrated graphics again, because I am not a gamer. But an inexpensive video card is easy to add, and for this level of performance, this CPU is still well worth it.

This CPU is fast and able to do anything I throw at it without slowing down, and then allowing me to do throw more at it. This includes running a few VMs and gaming at the same time. I even forgot I had left BOINC running in the background for a day with SETIHome, and Rosettahome running in the background. But I didnt try playing any games during that time. Just videos, web browsing and 3D slicingmisc stuff for my 3D printer. If you like to 3D print large over 810 inches high highly detailed .1mm layers or smaller, marry this CPU with 32GB of RAM and it will fly through any complex slicing process you put it through. Started out with 16GB RAM and the slicerprocess maxed out the RAM and used the SSD for caching which heavily slowed down the process

I upgraded my msi B450 pro gaming carbon black mb from a ryzen 5 3500 to the ryzen 9 3900. I needed to update the bios before I could install the new cpu. But once I did it ran flawlessly. I run analytic software that took minutes to process with the ryzen 5 and now it takes just seconds. The processing power is amazing. When running this processor against a gen 2 threadripper with 16 cores, I was processing data as fast and some times faster than the system running the threadripper. Well worth the money if you need processing power.

Im really excited about this product. Before I was running a 6 core, and it was one of the toughest PC experiences ive had. This 12 core runs and handles my games and frames at such a stable environment. My New B550 Motherboard was Gen Ready for this new line of CPU and didnt require bios update. So it was really plug and play. I recommend this product for individuals that are on a fair budget and looking to get the best gaming experience. 12 cores with 24 Logical Cores, handles a variety of applications at once, for those intensive PC users. Gaming and Streaming the same time especially. Totally changes Your gaming experience

Heres my drop on the asus x570e and the amd x3900. Actually purchased it for my son who first has no complaints regarding it being a gift, umm.. who would Now as far as the mobo, cpu and 32gb of memory goes, hes elated. He says it runs a bit warm running 2 pass encodes, 75 and 3035 idle. Also, hes OCd it a smidge to 4.2 and it runs without a hitch. Also, since he has to buy the M2. SSDs, hes been using his ADATA 1TB SSD and another SSD 256mb as a temp storage. Cooled with a previously owned Mastercooler Hyper 212x, preferred over water cooling, but says he replaced the fans with 2 Noctua NFF12 IPPC2000s PushPull which lowered the heat 510 and doesnt sound like he has a helicopter in his room anymore. Coming from intels 7700k Kaby Lake he says his speed has doubled, most of this is greek to me but if hes happy, Im happy. Says hes a light gamer so his old video card, NV610, does an O.K. job but will invest in a more current model soon. This CPU seems to be a great look for encoders but I have subtracted a star only because the included fan is unused andor untested. Sorry I cant provide any more details or specs for I am not as tech savvy as you or he. Im glad I was able to assist with the alley oop on the backboard for my boy, slam dunk in yo face intel..his words. Recently got the Ryzen 3900x to go along with my Radeon 5700XT and its pretty incredible. I use it to do a little bit of 3D rendering for work and mainly FPS for gaming. Sketchup and AutoCAD work great, have yet to try out Revit. For the gaming, I added a 200hz monitor to get 130150 on Warzone. Would probably be better if I had a more reliable ISP.As for the cooler, it works fine, but theres a constant ramping up and down of the fan. From what Ive researched there is no way to completely get rid of that annoyance. Its gets pretty loud and Im probably going to swap it for an AIO cooler soon.

If you are thinking about this processor, theres nothing to think about. Just click BUY. It has a proven track record for nearly a year now and for the money is the best of the Ryzen 9 CPUs. Multitasking rendering and single core performance for gaming alone makes this one of a kind and sets the bar for CPUs in the mid to upper performance level. I would recommend the Be Quiet Shadow Rock 3 CPU Cooler over the stock one as it is more efficient per dollar than just about any AIR cooler out there. Make sure you get a X570 chipset and a high speed NVME drive to get its full performance. If you run this on anything less than a PCIE 4.0 board you are wasting your money and time. The fact I could buy this with my employee discount made this even better, delivered where I work in 3 days. Simply the best PC investment I have made in years.

Powerful and efficient processor. Mine was able to sustain a 4.1 GHz allcore overclock without too much impact to games, and at stock once voltages are fixed in BIOS it easily hits 4.6 GHz on boost. Be aware that it runs HOT and is sensitive to RAM speed speed more than CAS latency. Also be aware that motherboard manufacturers are setting voltages high for Ryzen 9 processors. Only recommended to fix it if you understand what youre doing, because messing with voltages in BIOS can ruin products, but with proper voltages the Ryzen 9 products all become manageable with heat and boost better without having to fight itself for thermals management.

I was very excited to get this R9 3900x on the release date, but I have to say it was painful. My motherboard is Asus Crosshair VII hero nonwifi. It should work fine with the Ryzen 3000 but the truth is not. After I upgrade the bios to 2304 ver. The motherboard cannot recognize nvme ssd. And after I upgrade to the latest bios ver 2406. I just get into the OS once to do some benchmark for the 3900x and then my laptop cannot shut down I have to unplug the power to force it shut down. After that my desktop stuck at the Asus logo and repeat reboot forever. I tried to reinstalled OS and check all the parts is working. The only conclusion is the FREAKING BREAKING BIOS. R9 3900x is a great cpu I can overclock it to all core 4.2ghz or 6 core 4.5ghz under game mode. My cooling fan is the cooler master MA610p it is only a 6 heat pipe cooling fun I swear the clockspeed should going further if you have a 8 heat pipes fan. I am waiting for ASUS release new bios but right now I do not recommend you guys to upgrade your gpu to ryzen 3000 unless you want to get X570 motherboard with the CPU.

This thing is a BEAST I got this to rebuild my old monster AMD unit that originally sported the infamous FX9590 5.0ghz nuclear reactor of a CPU. It only took 6 years, but finally, something has interested me enough to force an upgrade. That something is the 3900X. As you can all probably guess, this thing blows the old 9590 out of the water. Plus, I dont need to nearly burn down my house to do so Im mainly using it to render cineform 5.6k 360 video, and it does it with ease. Temps never exceed 80c with my 240mm AIO, even under heavy load and stress tests. Ive had no issues running premiere pro, fusion360, and simplify3d all at once. If you are doing any type of creative or production work, I highly recommend this CPU

3900x is fantastic if you need a CPU that balances work AND play. If gaming is all you do, Id recommend looking at the 10900k from Intel.3900x is a must for streamers, anyone doing production, content creation, virtual machine, and blender.Game wise, its been a beast. I barley sit at 11 cpu usage even when I have discord up, bloodstained ROTN, and watching YT vids. This is the processor you want when you literally want to do ALL THE THINGS and still have massive amount of power leftover. The stock cooler isnt bad, but Im considering looking at a better air cooler as while the wraith cooler would be fine for the 37003800 series, 3900x when it peaks, will jump up much faster as youre running lot more cores and threads.Id recommend doing some homework on Gamers Nexus YT channel on viable options.Other con to consider is wraith cooler doesnt RGB sync well with gigabyte boards.

I havent pushed this processor to its limits, but have tested some minor overclocking with good results. The processor does run a little hot which is expected, but may also be due to my mITXsmall case.Ive run Photoshop, Lightroom, and also gamed Borderlands 3, Monster Hunter World without any issues thus far, and in benchmarking it has performed as expected. I work with massive Photoshop files, and also occasionally do video editing, so decided to go the 3900x over the 3700x route despite the difference in price. I imagine that most wont need the extra power, but if you do, it definitely is worth it.Unfortunately, I never tested the stock Wraith Prism Cooler as I have an AIO, so I cant comment on that although I do hear it works decently for stock cooler.

Motherboard X470 GPU RTX 2080 RAM 32GB G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series OCed to 3333Mhz Storage SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen3 I upgraded from a Ryzen 7 2700 not the x unfortunately and noticed a significant increase in performance. I mainly use my PC for video editing and playing games and I love this CPU. I dont really play any super intense video games FFXIV, No mans sky, Project Car 2 VR, CIV 5 but I did notice a nice improvement in performance, especially in Civilization 5. I was cooling my 2700 with a garbage Rosewill PB240 CPU Liquid Cooler 280mm radiator with two 120mm corsair fans instead of the stock ones, so I deiced to use that on the 3900x and use the stock cooler on the 2700. This may have been a mistake, because I have never been able to OC my 2700 so easily with the previously mentioned water cooler from Rosewill. I just put the 2700 at 3.9Ghz and even at a full load for an hour it never went above 56 C of course I keep my house at 71 F and it doesnt have to share a case with a RTX 2080 anymore. Of course I could have just won the silicon lottery, that 2700 is an OC beast that Ive gotten stable at 4.35Ghz before using a ventilation duct from an air conditioner strait into the case with idle to top temp being 12 C to 64 C. What Im getting at is dont be like me, and give the stock cooler a chance, because with that Rosewill I idle around 58 C and hit 80 C on a full all core load. Also the mounting plate is probably not on it very well I should write a review for how bad that water cooler is.

This processor is a beast. I ran some benchmarks and nothing really holds a candle to it. If at any point I need more power, overclocking it is really easy too, although I dont need it because its already so powerful right out of the box. If youre questioning whether you should go with this or with an Intel processor, nothing beats the multitasking ability of the Ryzen 9. If, however, you only plan on gaming, then Intel will beat it out due to it having more powerful single cores. For overall use, and even being amazing at gaming, this processor is the way to go though, because it handles everything.

I absolutely agonized over saving money by getting a 3700X or splurging on this. And then, I went through more rounds of questioning myself when I saw the i99900k for a little bit less.Im not much of a gamer, so with the info I could find, it looked like choosing AMD over Intel was probably the right move. And after pairing this with the MSI X570 Gaming Pro Wifi board, Im pretty much delighted. On PCMark 2018, I was pretty floored by scores I was getting with an RX580 video card, but thats not real world. For me, real world is rendering video, using Photoshop, and prepping virtual machines.Hoooooooo boy, is this CPU awesome in the real world. I thought real time wasnt bad for taking BluRay quality content and containerizing it, but this monster was doing it at almost 2x speed without even overclocking it. Yeah, it was pushing 80C nominal with liquid cooling… but still…Photoshop snaps open and ready to use in about 4 seconds, and I can spin up countless VMs before I notice any performance hit.Admittedly, Ive paired this up with 2x NVMe drives and 48GB, but at pure stock speeds on CPU and RAM, this thing flies with anything that can use the extra cores.

This is a great CPU for pretty much anything, its 12 cores of 4.0 GHz processing power that wont break the bank. Its fully compatible with PCIe 4.0 and smartaccess memory, so its already uptospeed with all current hardware even being a generation behind. My only issue is, you need a cooler…like a big cooler. The stock cooler is NOT sufficient for most cases. I started with a big air cooler, then a medium water cooler, and now ended up with a large water cooler. Idle temps around 50 degrees are common. Ultimately, I highly recommend it, but get a good cooler and dont rely on the included one.

This was on sale and they didnt have anymore 3950s so i got this one. It ran just find with no issues for a few months and then the 3950s came down in price so bought one. All I can tell you is be very careful when you take off the AMD cooler off your 3900, cause if your not careful you will end up taking pins off the CPU. That cooler was like it was glued to the CPU it pulled it right out of the socket on the motherboard. So i was out 500. This is a know problem with this AMD cooler, I think it has to do with the type of thermal paste it comes with. If you can reapply the thermal paste to a better kind then you shouldnt have this issue.

A fantastic processor for a fantastic build I paired this with my X470F Gaming MOBO from Asus. I did have to update the bios, using my older 2700X which I am upgrading from, since the AMD 470 chipset MOBOs require it. Once thats done, it runs like a dream Anything I throw at it Watching YouTube videos while installing software while viewing a movie playing on the background while also copying 1.5 Tb of files from 1 hard drive to another, it handles it all without a sinch. Barely works up a sweat when running a game at 4K too. Granted, Im not using the stock cooler, Im instead using a Floe Riing 280 AiO from Thermaltake and its running inside a Core X31 case also from Thermaltake, but if you can cool it and you should be fine with the stock cooler from what I hear then this processor becomes a beast, which is what you want out of itDefinitely recommend

AMD delivered on this. No way around it. This CPU is a beast. Why its not the coolest running CPU you will definitely want a proper cooling solution for this.My sample hit 4.5ghz across all cores with ease. But keep in mind this is a top sample expect all core overclocking to be in the 4.24.3 range with Lucky people hitting 4.4. pbo is what you should be looking into when using this CPU and I recamended using a voltage offset to undervolt it to get that pbo hitting higher.I paired it with a Gigabyte x470 Aorus gaming 7 wifi and here are a few notes.System with a 2700x was fully updated and running the latest F40 bios. When the 3900x was use the working sata m.2 drive I have been using for years was no longer detected. Other sata drives were also not detected. I put the m.2 Sara drive in a USB enclosure and I was able to see it in bios but it would not boot. Swapping the cpus back to the 2700x the drive worked fine. I ended up switching to a 970 Evo plus.Windows install from the Media creation tool. You will get a blue screen of you have a motherboard with onboard wifi and can not disable it. Not a CPU problem but putting this here so people will know. Problem is the driver thats in the windows install is not upto date. So you will need to have that driver on a USB and load it manually during the install. To sum it up. This is an amazing CPU and just shows that AMD is back. You wont gain any performance or overclocking headroom on x570. If you have a good x370 or x470 board you will do just fine. The only reason to pick up a new x570 with this is if you want and are going to use pcie 4.0 or you need more io from your Mobo. Highend x470 owners will be happy with just a cpu swap untill Mobo prices come down or we get more options or when pcie 4.0 gains traction. The only real selling point for x570 if you are looking at this CPU is the new pcie 4.0 nvme drives until new top end gpus support it.Now enjoy 12 cores 24 threads of 4.5ghz Ryzen glory and good luck in your silicon lottery. Hoping more people get 3900xs like I have. Its a beast.

It performs good. However, on longterm running, I dont recommend such a processor for many reasons. Firstly, with time the idle temprature is increasing, which makes the utilization o less than expected. With this temprature issue, you cant overclock your processor or get a full utilization from all cores. Secondly, AMD consider the user have a better cooling system for their processor. Why they still include the fan prism with their HEDT processor. I expected much better utilization and reliability from 7nm technology, but it seems like AMD didnt catch the best. Ill wait intel to see how they will deal with 7nm technology.

Ive been an Intel fanboy for decades. AMD processors have always felt a bit clunky to me, like theres some inherent latency in the architecture. Not anymore.I started looking at Ryzen after the Spectre and Meltdown fiascos, particularly in the way it was handled by Intel, and finally took the plunge after the Spoiler exploit was discovered and Intel chose to leave the mitigation in the hands of programmerscoders. While it lacks in raw clock speed compared to a similar processor from Intel, the realworld performance difference is negligible at best.I installed it in an MSI MEG X570 ACE motherboard with 64 GB GSkill Trident Z 3600 C16 RAM AXMP to replace an Intel i78700k on an Asus ROG Maximus Hero X WiFi with 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 3200 C16 RAM XMP.In games, theres no noticeable realworld difference, but in multithreaded workloads, the Ryzen truly shines.I purchased closedloop watercooling for this processor, but had I realized how efficient the AMD Wraith Prism air coolers were, I likely wouldve gone that route, and only moved to water cooling if the temperatures warranted. The Wraith Prism cooler is a chonk compared to the pancake cooler that comes with select Intel processors and does an effective job at keeping temps down. The Intel rig will be used exclusively for gaming now, while the Ryzen rig will handle the real work and sensitive data.Last but not least, Id like to give a HUGE shoutout to BH. During the afterThanksgiving madness, they didnt artificially raise prices, had a reasonable amount of stock, and offered some impressive deals on quite a few items. I expect BH to supplant some of the other tech etailers at this rate.

I would definitely get this CPU Its completely turned my whole system around for the better. With the new XTs coming out and the benchmarks seeming marginal the savings youll likely get to performance is more than worth getting this. If youre looking at this, youre probably going to get an aftermarket cooler regardless so the stock cooler drawbacks and high CPU temps are hopefully a nonissue for you. However, if youre thinking the stock fan will get you by, be weary depending on what youre doing. While playing AC Odyssey my machine shut down do to high temps on the CPU. Its only happened once and Ive played the game plenty before that, but Im going to wait for the cooler to get here before I continue playing that.

This review is subjective, for an objective review you can see the hundreds of professional reviews for this processor. Why would you ever need a 12 cores with 24 logical threads This processor has allowed me to combined 3 PCs into 1, which has dramatically cut down on my I.T. management of disparate systems. I used to have a dedicated PC for gamingcompiling, a dedicated PC for video surveillance, and a dedicated HTPC for streaming and archival management. I now do all 3 in 1 without any performance degradation while also enjoying a speed boost because each of these tasks gets a few more logical cores to utilize. Im very happy with this processor, Ive been holding off upgrading for a long time because my 3770K has been an amazing CPU and is still amazing. Thank goodness for Neweggs great customer service, our first CPU was defective. Installed Windows no problem, but shortly thereafter started having issues. Ran a Memtest, it failed on test 7. Tried memory from another computer, it too failed within 20 seconds of test 7. Bought some new memory at the store, different brand, different speed, which also failed, this pointed us to either a bad board or bad CPU. We tried another CPU in the same board, and all the aforementioned memory passed our tests, so back the CPU went. The replacement CPU from Newegg works fine and the temps under load are about 10C cooler vs. the defective CPU with the same stock fan and thermal paste. There are plenty of other stories of bad 3900X CPUs in the wild, I would highly suggest running a full Memtest and stress test if you buy this, and dont be so quick to blame bad memory if the Memtest fails.

I am new to PC Building and did a lot of research before venturing into building one and I am so glad I did extremely happy with the outcome and proud to own one as this is the fastest PC that I have ever experienced let alone building one. This PC mainly intended for workdue to COVID19 WFH and for occasional gaming. This CPU is a beast in performance and can perform really well when paired with the right PC components. AMD 3rd Gen Ryzen processors are picky about RAM specs and using the ones optimzed for the X570 Motherboard such as below with right clock speed and network latency it does really well and the end result is a work horse. My PC runs super fast.I have not done any benchmarks yet and am strictly speaking from a personal experience MS office apps like word, excel just open up in a second without any lag or delay even the biggest powerpointexcelWord doc just opens up in a snap literally in less than 2s. For ex I was able to install MS office from a 3.4 GB file in less than 30s tops and the longest step in the entire process was entering the license key Inspite of opening several apps, multiple browser windows and playing heavy duty games like Troy,FORTNITE, Remnant, HITMAN the system still functioned very well without any lag. I have been an Intel guy for the last 20 years and this Ryzen CPU is a great leap in performance highly recommend if you are serious about performance and have the budget for it My full config is as belowFractal Design Meshify Mini C Tempered Glass whiteMotherboard MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk WifiCPU AMD Ryzen 3900XRAM G.Skill Trident Z Neo Series 32GB PC428800 DDR4 3600MHz CL16191939 Model F43600C16D32GTZNCHDD Samsung MZV7S1T0BAM 970 EVO Plus SSD 1TB M.2 NVMePSU Gamemax 850W GoldGPU ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2060 Super Advanced Overclocked EVO 8G GDDR6 Gaming Graphics Card ROGSTRIXRTX2060SA8GEVOGAMING

This processor has met most of my expectations. It has performed well from a creators stand point and a gaming perspective. It has powerhouse through multitasking whilst I was gaming as well. Paired with a corsair H100i liquid cooling AIO it idles at a cool 30C and under massive strain it only gets to 70C. It boosts itself up to 4.5 on some cores when under load and runs a bit hot because of the stock voltage settings. It is paired with a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro wifi which handles its power beautifully.

Didnt even take the included Wraith Prism cooler out of the box. Reused my Noctua NHU12A air cooler. Ive never touched the fan controls, idles at around 55 Celsius, loads at just over 80 but the fans havent spun at 100 percent either. They automatically ramp up to keep it around 60 during medium loads. One of these days Ill tweak it to be louder at idle and more consistent. I installed Ryzen Master, allows you to switch between Creator Mode all cores, stock clocks and Game Mode 612 coresthreads, OC. I leave it in Creator Mode all the time. Works fine, never skips a beat. I also have to use Ryzen Master to set the memory speeds on my X570 mobo. Confirmed in CPUZ the mobo doesnt clock the RAM to 1,600 MHz DDR4 3200 by itself 1,200 by default… eww.. Your mileage may vary in that regard.

Six years ago I built a lean, mean gaming machine, aiming for the golden ratio of priceperformance. At its heart, the Intel i53570K. This marked my first time with Intel, and my first time liquid cooling. I managed to overclock her all the way up to 4.4Ghz, with rock solid stability, proved out through long hours of Prime95s torture test. This PC served me well all these years, holding up to anything I threw at it. Until recently. Ive noticed some newer titles have been less than stable, resulting in more and more hard crashes. Then Microsoft released Flight Simulator 2020, and I knew the end had come. I was running a generation behind the minimum system requirements. Not only does it take a dreadfully long time just to load the main menu, but it takes even longer to launch a flight. Then, once the map loads, you must endure five minutes of severe and grotesque stuttering before the game smoothes out and you can even think of attempting takeoff.I knew from reviews my 16GB of system ram was perfectly adequate to run this title. Also, I was running a fresh OS, as I had formatted and reinstalled Windows 10 just a few weeks prior. So my first thought was Graphics Card. I hopped online and found a used GTX 1080 to replace my old GTX 970.Nope. That did nothing for the five minute stutter fest at the beginning of each flight. And it did nothing for the occasional system crash the game would cause. And so, the fates forced me to come to terms with the inevitable It was time to build a new PC.AMD Ryzen 9 3900xMSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi motherboard32GB 2x 16GB G.Skill TridentZ Neo DDR4 3600MhzCorsair H115inVidia GTX 1080 RTX 3080 coming SOON500GB PCIe Gen4 NVMe system drive2TB PCIe Gen3 NVMe game drive2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD to accompany another 2x 2TB WD Black HDDs and 1x 500GB Samsung SATA SSD from my previous build. Yes, I love storage.Corsair RM850x power supplyCorsair Obsidian Series 750D Airflow full tower caseThe AMD Ryzen 3900x is a 12 core, 24 thread processor, compared to the 4 core 4 thread 3570K. It possesses 70MB of cache, whereas the i5 only has 6MB.What does all that mean I didnt exactly know. I grew up in the 1990s, where processors were measured in clockspeed, not cores and threads. Megahertz for megahertz, my old CPU is the faster creature. While Ryzen can reach 4.6Ghz, it will only ever do so very briefly, and only on one or two cores. Usually it will stay around 4.1Ghz under load. Looking at my i5, overclocked to 4.4Ghz, always and forever, I had mixed feelings about this upgrade.Until I loaded Flight Simulator 2020.The first thing I noticed is how fast the main menu came up. Its not instantaneous, as FS2020 is a monster app, but its a fraction of the time it once took. Then, once the flight loads, its ready for you immediately. Gone is the five minutes of choppy, stuttering, potentially systemcrashing horror. At worst, theres a slight hiccup at start, then its smooth sailing. Or as smooth as you can expect with a GTX 1080.Which is smoother than you might think. On high settings, 4k resolution, and 80 rendering, I get an eminently playable 35fps. Which might sound low, but for a slowpaced game like a flight sim, such framerate feels remarkably fluid. I would have bet money I was in the upper 40s until I checked. The new build wont be complete until I install the new nVidia RTX 3080, but this is the perfect foundation for such a mighty setup. The Ryzen is indeed a huge leap over my last machine, and I have nothing but praise for its performance. I will not be running out to get the Ryzen 5000 series on opening day. This 3900X shall keep me sated for quite some time. Its a beast of a processor.PinkyPowers

This processor is insane. Yes its a bit pricey, but its still cheaper than intel and a much better buy because of how well rounded it is for more than just gaming. Gaming performance is incredible however. It is OCable, although AMD CPUs are a little harder to OC than the intel counterparts. Regardless, its possible to run all 12C 24T at 4.7 Ghz. What a monster.

Pros fast cpu its great.Cons The b450motherboard i needed to return it because the heat sink wouldnt not work properly. so i upgraded to the b550 f, it does work but there is a Cooling concern with the Ryzen 3900x, it should be idle between 35c and 45 c. But mine was climbing past 70c which was too hot. SO I WAS TOLD FROM A MAN, in a shop this was to do with the firmware in the BIOS, a way to resolve it is to simply put the pc in power saver mode. But the see the minute you put it on Ryzen Balanced, temperature starts to climb. My advice dont buy a b4050 f motherboard, or a b550f, get an even newer one, one that costs over 200 any way. allot of people are experiencing temp problems with the ryzen 3900x.

I think AMD has finally hit it out of the park with Zen 2, and the 3900X in particular. This CPU walks the line between consumer and prosumer product stacks, with excellent gaming performance as well as phenomenal workstation potential. I mostly game on this, with some occasional 4k video editing. Gaming with a 2080ti on a 1440p 144hz monitor is a dream, in every game Ive played so far the 2080ti is maxed out and this 3900X is barely breaking a sweat. I would highly recommend this to gamers and prosumers alike.

I upgraded from a ryzen 2700X. I installed on a B450 tomahawk motherboard. 48GB RAM. RTX 3080. My computer feels soo much more responsive. Going from 816 corethread processor to 1224 corethread cpu made a noticeable difference in update install times. Also game frames are feel smoother and I notice less hitching and frame stutters. I have bought another 3900x and even a 5900x for my other side builds because I was able to shave a 6900xt bundle off newegg shuffle and a 6800 Merc from a bestbuy in hallandale. And I bought a 3080 of StockX for the now seemingly reasonable 1250. Get this processor when its available no matter what. Be warned, once you buy this cpu you will not be able to go down to anything less than twelve cores. Its like a 144hz monitor and a 60hz monitor. You will be tainted and youll know what youre missing.

As of now, the best of the best. When I first installed it, I thought I mounted the cooler wrong. Big temperature spikes, even at idle. It turns out these CPUs have a tough time dissipating heat and the boost clock voltages are aggressive, so temps bounce all over the place. The stock cooler will be loud with a 3900x, so you may want to look into something better. I use a Dark Rock Pro 4 to keep things quiet. There are still some BIOS issues, especially relating to boost clocks. Most people arent hitting the listed 4.6 ghz.If youre going to manually OC, check out Per CCX overclocking. 3900x CPUs seem to contain one good chiplet and one not so good chiplet, so youre limited by the weaker one. I can do 4.4254.4254.354.3 at 1.3v. With a traditional OC, I only get 4.3 ghz at 1.3v on all cores.Memory plays a big role in Ryzen performance, so I highly recommend downloading the Ryzen DRAM Calculator to get the most out of your memory.Excellent performance to be had with these, but it takes a little work.

Ive been an AMD guy for a long time, I love that their processors have always performed at higher frequencies out of the box than other brands. This is no exception. It is rated at 12 cores 3.8GHz and even under full load tests with rendering from 3D programs or processor heavy After Effects composites as well as my games, this processor has been awesome and rarely drops under 4.0GHz without any overclocking. Install the AMD chipset for it in addition to your motherboard chipset and make sure to update your BIOS on your motherboard right away to ensure all the built in clocking mechanics are running correctly. It runs at a higher voltage than I am used to in idle states 1.31.4 but AMD Asus have assured me that this is how the chip is designed and it is performing as intended. If you want a great processor that will allow you to game as well as do productive tasks, this is a great choice. Ive only been using it for 3 days now, but out of box with stock cooler and a good case with fans to keep air moving, it runs perfect.

Performancewise, it did admirably. Only problem was the fact that it got incredibly hot after not a whole lot of time and as a result began to eat up some of my RAM. Unfortunately, the cooler that AMD provides was an absolute horror to install, as once it was clamped in it was next to impossible to get out, and when I finally managed to get it out it ripped my processor out in the process, not only bending several pins on the CPU, but also somehow killing my motherboard as once I bent the pins back it would not boot back up again. I now have to return both for replacements. In summary CPU itself was fine, but DO NOT USE THE COOLER THAT COMES WITH IT. You could risk severely damaging your system, at least in my experience.

I purchased this as an upgrade to my previous Ryzen 2700x CPU, and its a huge improvement. More cores for encoding video and processing images and higher clock speeds. It actually scored higher in some benchmark tests than my 16 core Threadripper system. Ive also noticed higher frame rates when gaming as well, so thats a bonus. It does get a bit warm and while the include HSF is adequate, I would recommend a better solution like an AIO water cooler, and make sure that your case has good ventilation and air flow. All in all, Id highly recommend it if you do any kind of CPU intensive work or youre a hard core gamer. You wont be disappointed

I owned a AMD FX8150, and a FX8370. I was annoyed when it was shown that these CPUs were not providing true 8 core productivity. They did do okay, but recently I was seeing more need to upgrade. Recent reviews from LTT, and Jayz2cents, helped me decide that an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X would be good choice. Reviews on Newegg also helped to reinforce this. The Ryzen 9 3900X preforms very well. I got a Gigabyte X570 Elite, and there was no problems save for getting the memory to post at 3200. Everything runs fast, and quite well. I hoped to keep using Win 7 Pro, but I lacked the skill to make that work. I can truly multitask now, and games run quite well. Top temp I have seen was 70C, and that is rare. I have a 240mm radiator AIO waterblock cooling and it keeps the idlelow usage temp at 20C to 40C.. Currently let the stock OC boost do it thing, and have 3.8 GHz to 4.2 GHz on all cores. AMD has restored my faith with the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X. I would suggest anyone that wants an affordable computer to consider an AMD Ryzen.

Paired with SSD NVMe if possible and fast ram, this CPU delivers amazing performance. The price point is perfect and is years ahead of Intel. This is the second system Ive built with the Ryzen 9. Ive yet to have any issues or BSOD crashes in the past 9 months since building my first system. Boot up time is less than a few seconds. Games and other applications are very fast. I am running about 9 virtual MS Servers and a couple of Windows 10 VMs and still have plenty of CPU overhead to play modern games like CONTROL or Stat Wars and even VR without a problem.

Thanks also to PCIe 4 allowing me to use faster SSDs for better IO performance, Docker containers that took over a minute to build previously now build in a second or two. The included RGB cooler is also quite nice looking, and I havent seen a temperature above 90 C yet stock clocks.

I upgraded from the 2700x to the 3900x. So generation upgrade and 4 more cores and 8 additional threads makes a big difference. It crushes tasks such as gaming and streaming simultaneously. I built a whole new system for video editing with Ryzen 3900x and I am glad I chose this processor. This is my first time building a PC, and I paired it with 32GB 3600MHz Ram and fast SSDs, works perfectly fine. Handles 4K video editing and 1080p RAW footage.I was sceptical about cooling part of the CPU since these are known as hot running CPUs, but I personally have not experienced temperature over 70 degree Celcius when working and editing videos on Premiere Pro. I use Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 as my CPU cooler, and I chose Meshify C for the case because it has very good airflow. My recommendation is, do not pair this CPU with cheap parts, use solid quality parts to get most out of this CPU.I am definetely enjoying using my new PC though

This CPU tears through multithreaded applications with ease, such as rendering, video renderingtranscoding etc.For gaming, it might not be top of the list see 9900k, its still overkill for most games in my opinion, but I suppose that depends on whether youre bothered about insane refresh rates, which Im not.My only complaint about this, which is why I couldnt give it full marks for quality, is that the supplied cooler wraith prism is insufficient, and by a fair margin. Youll see from the picture that there are even gaps in the base of the cooler, meaning it doesnt make full contact with the heat spreader. If youre going to use this CPU, I would strongly recommend replacing the cooler with a good quality aftermarket one. see recommendationOther than that, superb.

With the price tag Micro Center offers on this chip, Im suprised they even have any left in stock. This CPU is a dream come true. I do heavy 4K video editing and this handles the footage, the process and rendering with extreme ease. Yes its THAT good. Even for gaming this thing is so ridiculously great Easy to overclock and achieve extreme higher speeds on multi thread counts and also a boost in single core count I love this thing, Im really on the fence about buying another just to make a secondary rig. The 3900x is a beast of a processor. The added wraith cooler is a great value add. The 3900x is a rather hot cpu. Mine idles at about 42C. This is on the stock cooler because I am waiting on the bracket for my AIO. It is important to note that the cpu avoids thermal throttling and boosts perfectly fine on the included cooler. If you need strong multi core performance then this is a great buy. Intel has some options that have better single core performance. However the 3900x provides the best of both worlds. The multi core performance is phenomenal and the single core is still fantastic. This is a great processor and you get a lot of cores for a fantastic price. If you dont need all the cores that this cpu has to offer you could save some money by looking at other Ryzen 9 processors. However you certainly wont regret getting a 3900x.

Does I everything I need it to. First thing I did was run a stress test for 24 hours, and it exceeded expectations, it didnt even get hot.I played some emulators supposed to be CPU intensive and all my games played flawlessly. It DOES NOT come with integrated graphics, so you will need a dedicated GPU. I am still using a HD 7850 from years ago, so I havent been able to run any current year games yet. CAnt wait to upgrade and test how the overclocking handles. It comes with a Wraith Prism cooler. It does a good job of keeping the CPU cool, have yet to exceed 45 degrees C. You will have to hook up the necessary cords included and download the software in order to control the LEDs. The program makes it easy to turn off the light when I go to bed, and turn them back on when I want to resume in the morning. I can customize the lights and patterns any way I want.So far, it does a great job for a really good price. With this, I wont need to upgrade for a while.

For the first time, I have smooth HD playpack in my editing timeline and renders are cut almost in half thanks to this CPU. It does have 3 times the cores of my old chip, so that is to be expected. What I found most surprising is while rendering, it doesnt lower the clock speed and instead stays boosted. The cost of this performance is higher temps than Im used to from my old chip, but its not too toasty as long as you cool it right. My only real complaints come with the stock cooler. The CPU got to about 86C with it under constant load, a little warmer than Im comfortable with. It was extremely noisy, rather hard to install and even harder to uninstall when I replaced it with a beefier cooler. If you dont mind the noise and arent maxing out the CPU for prolonged periods of time, itll suit you fine, otherwise pick up another cooler.

But thats really just nitpicking. The OS installed beautifully off of a usb flash drive, although I had to reinstall wine after initial setup. The hardware was instantly recognized which is nice having an RTX 3060ti I was hesitant it would not recognize the card. The instant display of 65 gb of ram, all 24 cores running and their respective loads, the sabrent rocket m.2s, as well as the massive cache not as big as the 5,00 series but good enough for a busy day of gaming. This beast of a build just handles whatever I have thrown at it so far. I have really only run it in a few games over a few weeks but Neverwinter, Civs 5 6, Minetest, Dota 2, Boderlands 2 wont even stress any of the hardware at max settings. I will have to run VMs and harder games like hunt showdown , or wait for cyberpunk to fix the bulldozer software scan thats been slowing down there software, I personally prefer to break the hardware in slower before really putting a hard stress test, although I did bench Civ and placed top 99 for AI calculations and game simulation on max settings. So whats the take away from all this Its an easy chip to build from, has run linux mint ulyanna 64 bit stable and easily, wine runs fine after a reinstall, play on steam and play on linux both work fine off the processor, Personally I would watercool the processor, although the wraith cooler seems fine if you are on a budget but if your on a budget chances are you are not looking at these 12 16 core processors so I say spend the 100 and keep it cooler longer remember heat kills electronics. When I bought this processor with tax it ran me 450, that price after I bought it jumped by almost 100 if that tells you anything you need to know about how good the Ryzen series really is versus intel. My first personal experience building a computer was off the AM3 platform and boy what a long way they have come. Cost to performance AMD still paves the way as Intel has become an after thought. I can do it all with this much power, and I can do it affordably. From graphics rendering to hard gaming I see this platform being used from colleges to hollywood . Unless you get a processor that DOA you will not be disappointed, AMD brought the heat with the 5,000 processors, but if you want to get it done and for a way better price than the 5,000 series can be found at currently or even at all, then get the 3900x it can be found today and at a real price point not some over inflated out of stock price currently had by the 5000 series.

I think my use case is a little unusual as Im not a gamer and bought the 3900x for development on Linux. Previously, I was using a system with a nonhyperthreaded 6core Phenom II 1075T. My plan was to wait to upgrade until a CPU came out that would more than double my performance. Well, mission accomplished. My builds now take 13rd as much time. Theyd run even faster but theres a few points during compilation where the build I do is singlethreaded. My system consists of a 3900x on a Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE x570 motherboard. Im using 3200 Mhz CL16 RAM with a GTX 1050ti I got from Ebay. So, clearly not a gaming rig but I didnt want or need that. Im using CentOS 7.6 because thats what I need to run the builds and that installed without a hitch. Overall, completely satisfied. Just a word of caution on the Aorus Elite motherboard that the shipped BIOS is a little buggy and youll want to upgrade it immediately. Also, I couldnt get XMP to work until I switch from the easy to advanced mode in the BIOS. Not a big deal.

This CPU is a total overkill for almost any workload. I can have basically every piece of productivity software that I have running at once, with a browser open and 100 tabs with a video playing and still play a AAA game with very little performance loss. So if you are just a gamer then this CPU is a bit excessive. A Ryzen 7 X3800 would probably be a better choice, but if you game and run heavy multithreaded workloads like 3d modeling CAD, video editing, or rendering then this CPU is awesome. It can run games incredibly well while still crushing heavy multithreaded workloads. With this CPU I can work on models with way more active points in Zbrush. My old CPU Intel i54690K OCd to 4.4 Ghz would start stuttering around 24 million active points, while this CPU can handle around 20 million. It is very nice to be able to work on a model at that detail level without having to use Zbrushs Geometry HD feature.Another big advantage of having this many cores is that even while a heavy multithreaded workload is running there is usually still enough CPU left for normal computer functionality. When I was stress testing this CPU I ran Prime95 then I forgot to stop it. I went on browsing online and watching a video without noticing that anything was wrong until I started to run another benchmark. I really noticed this when I rebuilt the lightmapping in Unity the other day and I could still use my computer normally, with my old CPU my PC would be barely function during this process. Admittedly most applications that are really multithreaded allow you to set how many threads you want them to use, but with this may cores you will probably never even have to think about it.As many other people are reporting mine does not seem to turbo up to 4.6 GHz, the most that I have seen on my monitoring software Is around 4.54 GHz, but this CPU is so powerful that I do not really care. Plus I get a solid 4.154.2 Ghz clock on all core loads, which is really good considering the rated base clock is 3.8 Ghz. I get cinebench R20 scores that average around 7350, my old CPU just got 1580. Idle temps are around 40C and full load temps are about 70C in a good air cooled case. I am using an ASUS TUF 570 motherboard which I highly recommend and 32 GB of 3600 MHz ram.

This process has handled a lot of what I need. I work with video and after effects and this process can handle both programs with easy and still run chrome. But seriously, I can run several applications with easy and have yet to experience any issues with the process. I am currently using the stock cooler and thermal paste on the process and I am not overclocking at this time. When I do decide to overclock I will be upgrading the cooling system as well. I currently use this processor with a 2070 super and an x570 motherboard.

I used the 3900x in another build to go along side my 9900k build and for video and production stuff this cpu outshines it by leaps and bounds. As far as gaming goes I cannot tell the difference in game at all between except the 3900x seems to make most games feel smoother when playing them. Also the FPS difference is within margin of error. I find myself using this pc now for gaming as well more than the 9900k build. Bought this for a server, and would buy again, but found a couple unpleasant surprises. Despite the CPU coming in the typical big CPU box, there is NO cooling solution included. Just a large block of very dense foam. Not a dealbreaker, or even anything Ill ding an egg for since thats stated in the specs and I shouldve read it. Second, I got the system all built a server, so no GPU and went to boot it up, only to be greeted with some cryptic beeps. A bit of research later, I find that this CPU has no integrated graphics at all. Not even a 640×480 VGA framebuffer. So I had to scrounge up an old unused graphics card to get it to boot. Also not a dealbreaker, but this is something that really should have been listed in the specs. It was not at all obvious even when looking at the specs on AMDs website.

Coming from older hardware to this new bad boy of a CPU felt like sluggish me taking some preworkout. Im PUMPED lolPerformance is nuts, being able to play and stream all the games I previously could not at solid FPS and better video streaming quality. Editing videos is lag freeand rendering times are so quick compared to before.Even while gaming, streaming, having a ton of chrome tabs open, my CPU usage doesnt get anywhere near 100. Really insane stuff Im not used to seeing anymore.Heatsink is decent, used it for a few days before my Noctua DH15 came in. The thermal compound on it is excessive though. Ive purchased this processor from Microcenter at least 4 times, for myself and friends building computers of their own. The launch product was very good, and Im happy to say that the 3900x has only improved with time. Newer products are able to sustain clocks for longer, and run at lower temps.Great for gaming, but this processor really shines in multitasking and productivity. Doesnt hitch when streaming and gaming, flies through file compression and video editing. If youre just playing games, go for a 3700x or a similarly priced i7.

The 980x has served me well. Unfortunately, the components on that rig are starting to get a little iffy I decided I needed to build a new workstation. This couldnt have come at a worse time because of the microchip shortage massive price hikes on all computer components. I really wanted to get a 5900x, but this spring, they were selling for double sometimes triple the MSRP. I do a lot of 3d work and trying my hand at game development. Even though its not the latest generation of Ryzen, its still plenty powerful. What used to take my old 980x roughly 3 hours to render is now only 30 minutes Getting the 3900x was a GREAT decision. The price is decent enough that I was able to stay within budget even after getting the 3080ti.

OK I am pretty sure I over did it by buying this chip. Lots of time I am using less than 1 CPU utilization. Like literally .5. While gaming 47. Some very brief spikes here and there to 1520 MAX utilization. I guess I was just future proofing. Will be great when Im doing video editing or transcoding with handbrake. So obviously getting a lower end chip will be fine for most gamers and mild computer users. But its a trap when you look at all the extra cache and cores you get for just 115 more… When paired with a good cooler I cant see this chip not being enough computing power for most users for 710 years.

The CPU is wonderful. Great framerates at 2560×1440. Coupled with a 1080 Ti. Get 3000 MHz ram to go with this, as the Infinity Fabric thing loses performance below that frequency. The Wraith cooler made an awful rattling, so I suggest pairing this with a 240mm AIO cooler from the brand of your choice. My recommendation comes with a caveat. This is not necessary for a gaming PC. Even one for 1080p streaming. A 3700X or 3800X will give you just as good performance as this chip in most games, with room in your budget to purchase a decent AIO cooler.

12 cores, 24 threads, never would of dreamed something like this would be a mainstream product without going dual CPU workstation build, or some obscure Intel part. The reality of this thing existing on even a consumer level chipset with realistic upgrade paths, thanks AMD even making such a thing possible. It has work well for everything I have thrown at it, I have yet to personally have apps of any kind crash on it that wouldnt of crashed otherwise from general software bugs.I also enjoy that I can single PC stream with this part alone because Im waiting for the next wave of GPUs to come out to upgrade my 2015 GPU.I thought about waiting for the refresh, or last AM4 supported CPU, but with the frequency of updated coming from AMD, I would end up always waiting. No regrets even with the XT parts being announced, that just means these will still be crushing the price performance specs even harder, and I still have a upgrade path for future CPUs.

Running this on a x570 Asus hero VIII. Cant overclock past 4.1 but I think its a power issue not a chipset issue like everyone is saying. There is an extra 4 pin power on the motherboard for the CPU that my power supply doesnt have. So Im just running the normal 8pin CPU power. Probably buy a better power supply later. Userbenckmarks gets me 140 for gaming, and 170s for desktop and workstation. Those are not over clocked stats. Id make sure you get the sweet spot on Ram as noted by AMD 3600Mhz. Get that liquid on it for cooling. Staying at under 55c for the most part even when over clocked. With a cooler master ML360r. I use it for rendering as well, so note its well worth it for me to have such a powerful CPU. Maybe you might not need something so high end for just gaming.

Upgraded from the quadcore Intel i74770, not even the k version I know. Cannot emphasize enough how fast and ridiculous this processor has to offer for my videoediting needs. Im barely using my newly built system and have yet to put it to full capacity, IF Ill ever do so. Im brand new to DaVinci Resolve as the software choice for video editing.Word of advice, choose this AMD 3900x for the moneyversusperformance ratio. Granted the AMD 3950x has 16 total cores versus this one with 12 cores. But the base clock for this one is faster than the other one and about 150 cheaper. Whether you run software with single core or multicore demands, AMD 3900x covers both configurations Most of users wont even push this CPU to its limit but only brag about what they have inside their case. If youre playing games or do lightduty software, go for the Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 5 and save the money for a better graphics card. But if youre planning to stay loyal to Intel then…oh boy…God bless your pocketThe included Wraith Prism heatsink is a plus I am past my days of overclocking, so I dont intend to buy an aftermarket CPU heatsink to overclock. Last time, it was a FX6300…Well, its really not that much of a difference in performance for what I use it for and it cost me about 100 extra.I could rant and debate with people but we should just be happy that a CPU war is on with Intel and AMD, its the consumer that wins. Theyre both great CPUs whether anyone wants to hear it or not. Sure, Intel is just rebranding stuff and selling it for more money, but AMD has shotty launches and numerous incompatibilities at said launches. I recently upgraded from a Ryzen 7 3700x to a Ryzen 9 3900x. The people at micro center are awesome. They were quick, friendly, and so knowledgeable of the products. This was my first time dealing with nick center and I am definitely going back when I decided to water cool my pc. If you are into PCs and have never gone to a micro center this place is a tech toys r us. To say the least this upgrade was a massive upgrade. I use my pc for gaming and stream off of one pc and it works without a hitch. The 12 cores and 24 threads makes multitasking and editing an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this cpu to anyone that wants their pc to do everything everything very well. Another great point is that if your not into overclocking your cpu Ryzen is perfect for you as well. Their CPUs come out of the box near their max overclocking abilities. So if you dont your not missing out on much of a gain by not overclocking. I have always been an AMD fan. It keeps Camp Blue competitive. Lately AMD seems to be really hitting well. I had to build 2 new systems, a new NASVM server and then a new workstation. I did a lot of reading and decided for my needs Ryzen 9 woudl be great. It as a no brainer on the server as cores are king. On thw workstation I wanted a goo TDP since a hot running system can rasie the temps in my home office. I again decided on the Ryzen 9. When Camp Blue excels in the finesse of their maturity of everything they do from power management to MB Raid. I have loaded all the Ryzen drivers, power plans and everything yet on my workstation I never see cores throttle down below 21002400MHz, this is insane. Even with manual tweaking of the power plan still runs high speed. If I go to power saving mode it get down to 12001500, but then take 510 seconds to spool up under load. This was set and forget in Intel world, cores woudl go to 800MHz then immediately under load spool up to 4GHz. Come on AMDget your act together. If I were building a new workstation again I would go I91900 then set PL1 to 95 watts and get best of both world. AMD for work horse server, but Intel for the finesse of a user workstation.

When I see benchmarks and stress test of other CPUs Im usually intrigued by the scores they get and think, only server cpus can get really high scores so this is pretty impressive but then the 3900x comes along and puts every other commercial CPU out there to shame. This chip isnt exactly the king of gaming CPUs so if thats what you want then go for the cheaper 3700x or the 9900k for top gaming performance. But for everything else, including gaming, this CPU will handle it and exceptionally well at that. I wont need an upgrade for another 58 years, especially with multicore support slowly becoming a trend.I dont normally give out 5 star ratings but owning this 500 cpu and the performance it gives back I feel at league with other highend users and modders.

This 12 core, 24 thread CPU from AMD has been the answer Ive been looking for and for quite some timeIts base clock of 3.8Ghz is great, but with AMD Ryzen, the clock fluctuates upward to find the best performance right out of the box. So without tweaking or overclocking, I generally see speeds around 4.2GhzThis CPU comes with the Wraith cooler in the box. So far, it has served my needs. No overheating issues. I do recommend getting fast DDR RAM… 3200Mhz or above. I also recommend getting an x570 motherboard for it.For gaming, my FPS scores shot through the roof Although your GPU does most of the grunt work, the CPU does stuff here as well. It has been nearly 20 years since I ventured into the AMD market. The Ryzen 9 is an incredible processor, especially for the cost. I think this is evidenced by the consumer demand, but let me talk a bit about my performance experience. I paired this processor with arguably the best air cooler on the market, and the CPU sits at 3940C idle with the die temperatures being reported at 34C. Under full load stress testing, my processor maxed at 60C, which is essentially the same as my previous build. Thus, despite external concerns regarding the TDP of the 3900X, I find no anomalous issue in this department. My experimentation with voltages, however, left me far more confused and concerned. Out of the box, the default vcore of my new build was set to 1.48V. This is, in my opinion, obnoxiously high and sits well above what I understand to be safe for silicon. Sure enough, if I look at VIDs, I find that the CPU is still requesting voltages that high. I set a voltage offset of 0.1V in my motherboard bios. At this value, I actually found a benchmark maximum, and my average vcore during an uptime cycle now sits at a far more comforting 1.227V. 4.6 GHz appears to be a promised land with the Ryzen 9. I only hit that value once, during one benchmark test, on Core 0. My typical frequency maxes during an uptime cycle are 4.53, 4.50, 4.50, 4.48, 4.53, 4.48, 4.35, 4.33, 4.35, 4, 33, 4.35, 4.35 GHz across the 12 cores. With my voltage offset shown above, my typical base level clock sits at 3.6GHz instead of 3.8, but that is my choice. Under a full load benchmark test, I tend to see 4.14.2 GHz across all cores. Some might view this as a con, but for context, my CPU is still putting up incredibly strong benchmark numbers. I have also avoided using Precision Boost Overdrive, as global research has shown it to not be significantly more effective than just leaving things up to Precision Boost 2. AMD should have probably come up with more distinct naming conventions as PB2 is merely a stock boosting processor feature, whereas PBO falls into the realm of defined as overclocking and is not considered inspec. It would really be nice to see a comment from AMD clarifying the voltage issues I described above. Ive found a lot of discussion on that particular topic, but all of the listed facts appear to simply be conjecture and opinion. Any AMD tech around here Maybe drop me a comment Save the day Overall, I have found my Ryzen 9 experience to be incredibly enjoyable thus far. For an enthusiast with knowledge of how to build and setup a computer, every concern I just listed could be easily addressed. Frankly, at the time of writing this review, there is just no other processor on the market that can do what the 3900X is doing especially at this price point. It is certainly worth a serious look by those in need of a CPU including from those who have been flying a different colored flag for quite sometime.

Great for the 400 price its hovering around right now. Bought it since I gave a good price for my 2700x to a friend that needed an upgrade and now I have no idea what to do with this power. If you have 400 to spend on a cpu and want to be future proof for like more than 5 years get this. If you have good air flow then you can do 4.4GHZ clock speed under load thatll be close to 80C on stock cooler. I do recommend getting the best air flow cooler or go water cooling for this cpu if you want all of its performance. Overall I recommend this cpu for its 400 price to performance if you need this type of processing power as of right now. Came from a i76700K and this thing just BLOWS it out the water. It works great for everything that I do which is gaming and general PC use. I do, however, game on flight simulators which tend to be CPU heavy as well as WoW which CAN get CPU intensive for all the world rendering. WoW holds steady around 120145 fps while my flight sim Prepar3d V5 ranges from 3070 fps depending if Im flying by a large city or open waters etc. Yes im well aware that a certain power hungry chip manufacturer has better single core speeds for gaming but the difference isnt THAT much with this CPU while still having the ability to multitask flawlessly. This chip DOES kind of run hotter out the box considering it runs 3.84.2 ghz on TWELVE cores but its not bad. Idles around the 40s for me using an AIO and wont go past 79 when i stress tested for an hour using OCCT.All in all this thing just smashes everything i throw at it, its a great CPU for the money spent. However if budget is an issue, a Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 5 2nd gen would be better options as they are considerably cheaper and have better overclocking potential from what Ive seen and read.

The 3770k is still a good processor and I still use the machine but as far as speed the Ryzen 9 is roughly twice as fast on average but this depends on the programs youre running. The speed of the system in general feels much faster, much of this can be attributed to moving from and SSD to an M.2 drive but having 12 fast cores certainly plays its part. One thing I should state is do not fall for the M.2 PCIe 4.0 marketing pitch. They are currently twice the price per GB and under normal circumstances are slower then Samsung Pro devices and most cases slower then even the Adata 8200. Maximum transfer speed means almost nothing in typical use. I may need to revise this statement next year when better dives hit the market but for right now save your money or use it on better memory or gpu.

Good CPU 12 core 24 threads. Got mine on sale. I was able to reach 4.3Ghz, while underclocking to 1.3v your results may vary. While I understand the box cooler will allow for decent temps, I didnt take the chance. The first thing I did was slap an aftermarket air cooler on this and Ive not breached 75 C degrees. Not once. This CPU will auto overclock higher, the cooler you keep it. One piece of advice, undervolt Most mobo manufacturers send way too much voltage through this chip. This will kill the chip far quicker This CPU will handle 98.5 of anything thrown at it. For everything else, get a Threadripper

Let me be more clear. This thing is super powerful, and without manually overclocking it I was able to hit past 4.2 GHz. My issue was that I wasnt aware of 2 settings on my moboand I dont know if it is card specific or what, but this seems to be a general problem with many AM4 Ryzen CPUs. There are 2 main overclock settings in the BIOSPerformance Override and Core Performance Boost. With stock settings, the CPU was ramping up to 4.2GHz at IDLE. I checked the bios and it took me forever to realize that the Performance Override was separate from the Core Performance boost, and at stock settings the PO was off and the CPB was on. This led to a wacky overclocking that had issues with the temperature sensor on the chip where the chip would drop 10degC over 5 or so seconds and then in a blink of an eye its up 1015degC again an issue I believe with either the temp source or the controlling algorithm they use. So then the fan would be ramping up and down constantly, which made it impossible to focus on anything without getting irritated as it would get so loud I would hear it through my headphones. Anyway, I turned on XAMP to OC my RAM, and turned off the PO and CPB and now I dont get that issue. Still wish I knew why I cant get my CPU to idle when my computer is idle. The thing sticks at 3.8GHZ while just staring at a black desktop, no apps running or anything else going on. The chipset drivers dont work with the AMD power profiles that you can choose fromand it seems like windows just does not care at all about whether or not their power profiles are adjustable at all. Whether thats a windows issue, an AMD issue, or Im just a ds, it really shouldnt be this difficult to keep get my computer to operate as any other normal computer would. Either way, this thing is a beast. Paired with 3600Mhz ram, a 5700 XT, and an x570 mobo, I can plow through 1080p games with 100200 fps.

Got this at microcenter last month for my home server media box. To be honest it was a bit of a splurge for me but I wanted a bit more oomph for my file server. It is markedly faster in AVX2 workloads video compression than the previous Ryzen generation. By my rough estimates the 12 core 3900x is about twice as fast at encoding video compared to 8 core 2700x. I run mine under aftermarket Scythe Ninja tower heatsink and under full load it maxes out at about 70 degrees Celsius which is a very good temperature for 12 cores running full steam at 4GHz. Cant wait for Zen3 next year.

In my 30 or so years of building computers, I have always used AMD cpus. Mostly because I was unable to afford anything Intel had to offer back in the day. Now that AMD has caught up, and in some cases actually passed Intel in performance, why would I consider it now Never going to happen even if Intel drops prices drastically. Anyway, this cpu is just amazing and fast. No issues with heat, but there was a need to update the BIOS on my board to get things the way they needed to be.

The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X performs smoothly in comparison to the Intel i9 processors at a lower price.I am one to typically lean towards Intel processors, but after a bit of research, found out that this processor competes with all other high end processors in terms of cost and performance. So far it has been approximately a month or so since I have been using it and have no complaints. Coming from an i5 4670k, my world has been changed. Previously I couldnt even run Escape From Tarkov at the lowest settings while playing one Twitch stream in the background on Google Chrome, but now it doesnt even matter what is running. I can stream my own broadcast on Twitch at the highest bitrate, while running Escape From Tarkov at the highest setting, and have another Twitch stream running in the background. Heck I can even run Bluestacks emulator while doing it all.Thats a lot of processing power required and I hope this gives some ideas on any questions for this processor.

I purchased this CPU and comparing it to the i9 10core CPU. After doing research, this Ryzen compared to the i9 runs alot cooler under 100 load. Idles a bit warmer.Another downside is this Ryzen CPU doesnt support on board video so be sure to grab a video card. Another minor con but not a big deal if you are already purchasing a video card.As for performance, I dont think you can beat this for the price. It already comes with an awesome CPU cooler who many have bench tested and it does very well at cooling during heavy loads.Im using the CPU for run 5 VMs via Virtual box and I do gaming on it. Never exceeds 75 load. This CPU screams and I love the wraith cooler.

I honestly, truly dont know what to say regarding this CPU that hasnt been said about it prior. Yes, it absolutely is a powerhouse of raw and impressive performance. Yes, it absolutely is an incredible steal for the price point 419.99 when I acquired it and yes, it absolutely is a brute when it comes to both gaming and contentmedia creation.A caveat to consider however, is that the 3900X is a warmrunning chip and while you CAN utilize the included Wraith Prism cooling solution, for peace of mind I would highly suggest marrying it to a solid liquid cooling solution. I would recommend at the very least a 240mm radiator AIO and Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste. While these DO add to the final cost tally of whatever monstrosity of a rig you are building, lets be real here. If you are purchasing this processor, you have every intention of going big and no intention of going home.

Dont buy this processor from Micro center Buy it from somewhere else and get a price match. The reason im saying that is because Micro center have been bending the rules to match their needs, this have been on going with alot of other offer and promos. As you can see in the photo this processor is eligible for this promo. But when I contacted Micro center they wouldnt help and said they are only running it on the XT. Which is clearly isnt what that promo says. I definitely dont want to be a customer of a place that doesnt look for the good of their customers. Do you

I upgraded from Ryzen 7 1700X to this one. It was woking OK with 62GB Ram running Cubase and Adobe software. Now I can operate both of them at the same time without a worry about crashing them with too many effects plugins loaded. Very stable opearation. I do not feel drastic improvement on processing speed, but less problematic running more than a couple of applications simultaneously.Good thing about Ryzen series is I could use the same ASRock Taich 370 Motherbord by just updating Bios and it was an easy fix.Micro center had the best price

First off, bh are amazing at customer service, and general kindness. Box shipped with damage but were willing to replace anything just in case nothing worked. Had no time before I was emailed about it, I think 5 minutes after the call. Anyway, this CPU is killer. Scored over 8000 on cpuz test bench. I love it. Overclocked using ryzen master from amd. Its overclocked on a curve, boosting to 4.5ghz stable. Its amazing. Its 500 points off threadripper on that benchmark btw. People say its 10 degrees hotter than the 3950x but really with an aio cooler h150i It never sees 60C. Its beautiful.

I got this Cpu and paired it with an Asus x570 motherboard to use it as a standalone streaming Pc. I couldnt be more pleased with its performance When streaming alone I was able to set the quality to 1080p x264 slow encoder settings with some games, 1080p x264 medium encoder settings is a breeze. 900p x264 slow encoder setting it can do all day and that is what I mostly use since Twitch caps bitrate at 6k for non partnered streamers. Ive not done much testing yet as far as gaming and streaming at the same time but it should be able to do 1080p x264 medium encoder settings pretty well. I seem to have won the silicon lottery this time and was able to do an all core overclock with a fairly low voltage. I recommend using an aftermarket Cpu cooler though, whether you prefer air or liquid cooling. Im using a 360mm Aio and that really keeps the temps in check but a beefy air cooler or 240mm liquid cooler should do the job as well. All in all this Cpu does what I need it to do with ease so I couldnt be happier, until Ryzen 4000 releases. Lol

Im one of those people who slowly upgrade their PC partbypart. This time, I went big and bought this CPU along with an AIO, motherboard, and memory I switched from a very old 4 core Intel. I stream on Twitch and play a lot of Arma 3 heavily CPUdependent game. This CPU upgrade alone has almost doubled my framerate on Arma 3. I can now stream to Twitch in 1440p, in the highest bitrate allowed, and in near60fps just fine. This is while running Arma 3 at anywhere between 5075 frames depending on the server Im playing on. For reference, Im still running a GTX 980ti.

12 cores 24 threads Its perfectWell…not PERFECT, but it is darn good for the price you pay. Im able to crush long running, multithreaded compilation tasks compared to my last cpu, the i7 6700K. Im very satisfied with this model and while the 3950X does make sense for folks with heavy workloads, I think this is an excellent CPU for a programmers personal workstation, a video editor, or for anyone who runs multiple virtual machines. It also games well Its turned my desktop into a capable do everything machine and I love it.NOTE It does get hot. The stock cooler is capable, but Ive seen better temps with my 280mm AIO liquid cooler. Under load, Ill hit around 73 degrees C on the high end with no overclock. Certainly not the best numbers, but well within acceptable ranges.

The cores and threads are plentiful, and if you can put them to good use, they work great. Very competitive with Intel offerings, AMD is in fact ahead with the 7nm process and pricing. Coming from a Core 2 Quad setup that was 10 years old, the speed increase is huge. The fan changing speeds instantly upon core temperature increase is a bit annoying, as it can be heard in my system, but this behavior can be tweaked in the BIOS. I love the fact that I could still potentially upgrade even this CPU, as long as I can get an even more powerful AM4 CPU. In fact, I actually reached with this CPU, as I probably would have been happy with a 6 core12 thread CPU at half the price, but wanted to make sure I stay as futureproof as possible with a 12 core24 thread CPU.

This was purchased as an upgrade from a 2700X.Compile times on a large project dropped considerably vs my old CPU, but then I also upgraded from 16GB to 64GB which helped compile more modules in parallel on different threads.Recording video in OBS studio seems to have improved as well. I record output from multiple programs and combine it into a single video, and it seems to feel smoother.Yeah, you might get a higher frame rate with a 5900X on a top end graphics card running 1080p, but as the graphics card goes down in speed andor up in resolution this becomes less of an issue. The 5900X is also more expensive. Youll have to decide whats best for you, but my graphics card will probably be the bottle neck for the near future.Overclockingundervolting software has it benchmarking faster than a 3900XT, so die qualities have probably improved since the release of these CPUs, but it depends on how well you do in the silicon lottery.Overall a great purchase, and Micro Center had it at a great price.

Am I bummed I cant overclock it manually Not really, not when I see the performance with PBO and seeing double the work done with HALF the energy. Its insane to say the least. Id absolutely recommend it for enthusiasts that dont have large PCIE requirements. Forget PCIE 4.0 Threadripper platform is where you need to be if thats a concern. Dont be an idiot, update your BIOS BEFORE you try to pop in a 3000 series in the older platforms. IF you are on older platforms. Make SURE you have software to monitor your VRM temps. I have a 12 Phase Buildzoid would rip the 12 part apart with 45A Chokes. The VRM can get insanely hot even with a decent heatsink. I bought a 140mm fan to directly blow on it. HW Monitor CPUID will NOT read my VRM temps..motherboard specific..so I use Asrocks cheesy OC software just to get that readingHW Monitor for everything else..once the fans get that under control…well all be good. Dont let PBO bum you out, really the performance is so incredible, and AMDs engineers did such a good job with itthe chip AND PBO why complain…they get you a great chip that knows what to do when, at great temps and energy efficiency.

I replace a 1st gen Ryzen 1700 with this processor and dont regret it at all. So far the only con I have is the heat, Ive paired this with a EVGA 240mm AIO cooler and it seems to do the job but while monitoring the cpu temps they jump around more than Ive ever seen on any cpu that Ive owned in the past. Not sure if its a motherboard problem or the newness of the CPU, Im seeing online that others are reporting the same behavior Im observing. Im hoping its just a fluke with the new x570 chipset, time will tell. So far the highest temp Im seeing is around 70 C under gaming load. Now the big PRO was the discounts that I received buying all of my upgrade components at micro center together a great Christmas present for sure.

I switched from building gaming PCs to using Macbooks 8 years ago, and now decided to return back to PC while still using Macbook. And what great timing, with AMD making incredible processors again. But hopefully those will be fixed with future bios and chipset updatesMy biggest concern was temps, which reached 55c even at idle. I think its some issue with the Windows power management, even when using balanced it doesnt seem to truly idleSo when doing light work and web browsing, i use power saver which brings all cores down to 2.195ghz and temp to average 38c. Thats as idle as you can get. When doing music production or gaming, i switched to balanced, and this thing flies. It doesnt even break a sweat with Ableton running multiple plugins. Its a shame these processors are hard to find right now. but if you see it in stock, PICK IT UP you wont regret it.

Ive been running this processor for several months and I can say it does what it is supposed to do. With the large number of cores playing games and livestreaming is fairly easy to pull off, especially if you have secondary software that allows you to assign which cores handle specific processes. On top of that, while waiting for a video to render there is enough power in this thing to allow you to enjoy some video streaming or a lowend game while you wait for your video editor to finish its job.The one downside is cooling and I recommend an aftermarket cooler if you plan on pushing this processor to its limits. Im currently using an all in one watercooler for this processor.

This thing is a beast If youre doing anything computationally intensive, this or the AMD Ryzen 9 3950x is THE processor to buy. It also happens to be great for gaming. Its fantastic to see AMD back in the game delivering innovative, high performance parts, as Intel had been taking advantage of us for years by providing overpriced, warmed over 4core parts. Thanks to AMD, we now have insanely high performance 12 and 16core parts that are less expensive than Intels higher end 4core parts from fairly recently. Thanks, AMDThe part shipped quickly and arrived in good condition. I updated the BIOS on my ASROCK x370 Taichi motherboard, popped the new part in, and it booted right up. I used the included cooler, which is very effective and has neat lighting effects. Ill probably switch to an x570 board next year so I can take advantage of the faster SSDs that this supports, but Im content with what I have now. All in all, I am very happy with this purchase.

Finally upgrade from a 9 year 2600K to this fantastic 3900X, my 1st AMD system. This is obviously a massive increase in performance. Micro Center gets a nod for having at a lower price Running cool and quiet with a Noctua NHU12s Black instead of the included Prism cooler. The 24 threads is useful setting up VM labs. Takes a few more tweaks than Intel to stabilize temps and performance but its so worth it. Have it running 4ghz at 35c idle and 69c full load, so definitely a happy camper.

Okay so this is a workstationgaming rig review and Ill try and keep it short but Ill probably fail at that.I got this to replace my aging 4770k which was fine for some work but didnt help with video rendering other things. The CPU was easy enough to install and the cooler I heard good things about so I went with that. Multitasking is great on this thing as its not slowed up at all, handles everything I throw at it, whether Im streaming art or a game.I ran some tests for thermals in my new corsair case and even when really pushing it with synthetic benchmarks it peaked at 75C. In actual use its not hit that level of heat. So the CPU and the heatsink seem to be doing rather well together. I havent overclocked it before you ask, its running at the stock settings with the fan on lowstock settings. Its so weird to see a stock heatsink be good, I had a hyper 212 before this for my intel CPU but this one is doing the job just fine. So the recommendations online seem to be solid. Its cut video rendering time down quite a bit and as I said handles multitasking like a champ. Playing taxing games with discord and streaming at 1080p just fine with firefox on the side while getting well over 60fps which is good for my high refresh rate monitor. If youre into the inner looks of your PC, the CPU fan looks great with a variety of options, theres the fan, ring around the fan and the AMD logo.I cant see much of a negative here.Microcenters deals helped make the price even more worth it. Super happy with the CPU and the upgrade.

Purchased it from well established suppliers CLL Computers tobe on the safe side if something goes wrong in the future. So far Im really impressed with this chip set. Its handling things with quite efficiency. So far Ive had no issues with it. Whatevers been thrown at it its handling pretty efficiently. I have nothing bad to say about it but rather compared to other countries UK price tends to be high for some reason. Especially for gaming this is what you want. Would never go for Intel chip set is because of the price and secondly since majority of us would never understand pick up on slight variances. Also, reason why I wouldnt go for the Threadripper. Moreover, buying a Ryzen 9 is to feel confident that its future proof for quite some years. Im my case, maybe 10 years Anyway, I didnt just buy this out of the blue this took days of extensive research asking others who understand pcs with probably their eyes shut.

I just retired from a long career as a lawyer and I wanted to do something completely different and relaxing for my first week off of full time work. I do a lot of photography as a hobby and I have many tens of thousands of high resolution photographs. I had been using the same computer for about 10 years, but it was getting very slow, I was running out of storage and various parts were showing their age. Therefore, I decided to spend my first week building a new computer myself for the first time. I chose this processor because several folks recommended it as an an excellent processor for use with Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop.Long story short, much to my joy and amazement the computer has run flawlessly from the instant I plugged it in and pushed the on button. I could not be happier. The system was fun to build, I learned a lot about building and setting up my own system. The new system with this processor at its heart is working beautifully. It is stable and blazing fast compared to my old rig. Lightroom and Photoshop are working MUCH faster, and I have not experienced the system not responding error messages and other delays that I experienced in my old system. Also, I have to say thank you to the people at BH. They patiently answered my questions when I was deciding what components to purchase. The folks that I talked to were very knowledgeable and helpful. They promptly helped me to swap out a couple of components which were delayed due to back ordering, so all of the parts were ready when I was to finish the project. THANK YOU.

Overall this is the most powerful processor I have ever owned. I have had majority of topend desktop processors including Intel. The 3900x is not the very top tier for the Ryzen 9 lineup however it fits my purposes. If you are looking for a topnotch extremely powerful processor and cant manage to get your hands on the 3950x and you dont need or cannot afford a threadripper this is it. It has been many years coming but AMD has RYZEN From the Ashes of the previous architecture and has managed to blow away the competition and a matter of a few years. If you 100 do anything else on a computer besides gaming AMD is the answer to all of your problems.

Built a new system with the processor. It is high performing beast. I have not been able to peg the CPU in normal use. My current favorite games runs about 20 cpu with a video server and a camera server running in the back ground. Replaced the cooler with a Corsair H115i all in one cooler. I did not love this cooler on the chip. It felt a little loose on the chip and I didnt love the temperatures. I have been using AIO coolers on my last 3 systems so not much of a surprise. The only chip I would have liked more was the 3950X but its not out yet. If you are a power user, this is a great chip. An Intel chip might beat it on an individual thread performance but for my use case it really doesnt matter. Even if you dont buy this chip the fact that it exists is making Intel rejoin the competitive market.
