Really nice and compact. Works well in the wind.

I use it to record people I interview. The microphone is good, but it records a lot of noise not just the person speaking, even if you turn it to low cut. I still have to do more test with it, but so far its just ok. If you are looking for a GOOD boom, this is not it. I you just want to have better sound on your family videos, this will work.
Levent –
I tried all microphone positions. I am using Sony RX10 M2. Normal position a little noisy, but when the wind shield is used quite successfully Body structure have a high quality. I fix one or two incorrect information in the meantime First, using AAA battery. secondly, total weight 218 g, including battery microphone and stand..
Brapp Junior –
I use the mic with my Sony FDRAX33 camcorder. I shoot motocross and other action sports and it works great. Im shooting around loud motorcycles all the time but the mic never fails to pick up the sounds I need. Very pleased.
Gary –
Good build quality, good sound quality. Provides much better quality sound than using just the built in microphones on a DSLR or prosumer camcorder BUT it is a mono microphone, you may miss the spatial presentation of stereo. Excellent for what it is, good value for the money. Expect it to take hard use for years.
John –
I have to buy an adapter to mount it on my Sony AX100 camcorder, and the sound doesnt make much difference with the buildin mic.

Well designed mount for use on DSLR or video camera. Mount is robust.Sensitivity and directional pattern is good for most recording.Recommended.
Justin –
It does pick up great sound however the fact that it also picks up cell phone signal feedback makes it unusable. Could also do with a longer cable. I would only use this in a controlled environment.
Khoren –
works perfect i am happy
Susan –
I just love this thing. So small. Fits in a pocket. Plus no batteries, external wires. The height of simplicity.

I dont have any of the issues with the mount or mount noise that the top critical viewer as of Dec 2019 has had. This is my favorite mic because of its convenience.1 No more having to fuss with popping out the plastic piece of the camera to the mic jack, wiggle the 3.5 mm male thread through my LMount and then plug it in.2 I dont like an attentiongrabbing furry rocket projecting from the top of my camera. The Sony is small and inconspicuous.3 There is a noise cancelling option, which works decently well refer to tests of it on Youtube. Great for noisy environments.4 Modulating the sound gathering shape is very useful. If Im in a quiet environment I go omni. Talking head I have it gather sound from straight ahead. Something in between I choose the middle option. This takes 1 second to switch on the fly.5 It has an Automode for when I just want to get rolling right away and not put the extra effort into more refined audiowhich can be improved in post as a safety net, so I love that convenience.6 I never have to haul it to the charger. My power charging station is on its third surge protector, so I appreciate spending 2 less minutes every few days plugging in more cables.7 I never have to worry that it might be low on battery. Battery anxiety is real.8 I never have to worry that I forgot to turn it on. I lost several clips on my Rode due to this. The convenience factor kills it on multiple levels.Look to other classes of mics for premium sound quality. Its expensive but you get quality engineering.

Voice audio is Job One for shotgun mikes and at 810 feet with 0 db setting, the voices were sparkling clear with solid db levels. Compared with my Rode VideoMic Pro, the Sony is far more convenient on the A7R4, more compact and much sturdier, performs analog to digital conversion within the mic, and sounds better to my ears out of the box.
Paul –
I purchased this as a companion to my new Sony camcorder. I am impressed with the quality of the microphone and its ability to eliminate wind noise. It is working perfectly and I couldnt be happier. The shipping from Adorama is excellent and it was packaged very well.
Jeffrey –
Easy to use, small, good sound quality, great interface with my Sony A7r Iv. Recommend highly

I gave a 4 out of 5 as its so sarn light. I work about it getting knocked around out in the field, but awesome sound quality.

Amazing sound quality. Small and light.

I picked up the ECMB1M after one of my shotgun Rodes bit the dust and never looked back. Great audio quality in a small form factor and no cords . This is the way

I bought this for my Sony a7c. Such a great microphone The wireless mic is the way to go, very solid build quality.

People should be aware that unless youre using the newer Sony bodies such as the R4 or S3. You will only be able to use the analog audio from this mic but it still sounds fantastic. The audio that you get from this mic is loud and clear. Not to mention that it has noise cancellation and selectable directivity patterns. My favorite feature is not having to physically connect the mic via a wire to the camera.

Great sound quality captured, even 5 ft away. Convenient, no wiring to worry about. Works great with my Sony A7C, because it uses digital. Cant confirm how it is with analog, say, with A7iii for example. But overall for me, it pretty much perfect.

This is the best Grabandgo vlogging microphone Ive found anywhere at any price period.I know most buyers are putting this mic on their Sony DSLR bodies, I am using the Sony AX700 video camera and its well suited for this particular mic.The voice quality and clarity, while effectively cancelling outside and background noise is flawlessNo battery and the controls are clear and available right on the back.If you have any mic experience at all, this is one you can use easily without the owners pamphlet.Very intuitive. On the AX700 I have to use it in the analogue setting.Im a professional videographer and I cannot afford to end up with low sound quality in my work.I have one of these on each of my AX700 units and because its not stereo, the blend between cameras is perfect.Well made, the wind sock is effective in moderate wind and does not muffle indoor sound, so I just leave those on all the time.I would recommend this mic without hesitation to any prosumer, or professional who does interviews, or vlogging. If you do a lot of running and gunning… this microphone wont pick up your breath behind the camera just whats in front of it.BUT, you can change the setting to include side or back noise if you need to record a group discussion, but no stereo separation of course.

I purchased this for my a7riii and a7siii when it arrives to use as a backup microphone to my Rode Video Plus. But once it arrived and I saw how small it was and how great it sounded, it became my goto mic. Love this thing Its so small and with no wires, theres no excuse to not bring it everywhere.

I have an A7S iii on preorder which will embed the audio into the HDMI output. Thats why I got this mic. Ive used on my A7R3, A73 and A6600s in the analog mode. It works as advertised. Audio quality seems good. It does pickup handling noise so Id stick with vlogging or tripod video. Its compact and convenient although only mono. Its kind of pricey. It seems limited to sony hot shoes unless the USB port can be used to send audio output.
Christopher –
Havent used it too much but it seems nice. Unclear what the analog vs. digital deal is using it on the A7III rather than IV, sounds great though. Comes with a flimsy, nonpadded pouch for some reason.

This microphone is small, light, easy to mount and the sound quality itself is excellent. The directional pattern option from full shotgun, to omni also works very well. The freedom from batteries and cables and the digital sound which works on my A7C is also great. Everything from sound quality, function and form factor is excellent and would make it a perfect travel microphone. It is ruined, sadly, by the bobble mount which of course cannot be replaced by anything else, and which transmits every touch of the camera or wobble into a background of annoying interference that ruins it all. I have since watched several comparison reviews on YouTube and just noticed this on a few sample clips but of course reviewers rarely ever actually review properly and used a tripod where this issue isnt noticed as much. There is no way to use it on my A7C and weebill S stabilizer, the reason I bought it, without hearing every touch or whir noise and it ruins the audio. This does not happen on my Deity D4 duo, which sounds better because it is free from all the interference, and costs almost one quarter the price. There is one thing that I did which helped a lot. I wound a thin rubber band around the thin section between the mount and the microphone which solved most of the wobble noises but not all the resonant fumbling sounds of hands or stabilizer which are of course going to be there if one uses this microphone for the purpose it was intended. I also have to use the low cut filter to remove the low rumbling noise which is low in the background regardless of how it is mounted. This is also annoying. If only Deity and Sony could become friends and make a light, qualitymicrophone together, free from cables and batteries and with a small form factor, better quiet mount and stereomono feature…. then this world would be a better place.Sorry Sony….I tried to love this microphone …but at least my A7C is still awesomely incredible. There, I just ended on a positive note.
Bora –
For the price quality is not that great. Handling noise is a lot. If you dont touch the camera then you can use any mode but if you are holding your camera, you have to use the Low Cut filter to lower the handling noise.

I am quite amazed at the performance of this mic, as digital signal processing gives excellent directionality and offaxis signal rejection when needed. Having three pickup pattens at the touch of a switch is extremely useful in the field to cover different shooting situations quickly. The noise reduction feature is very effective without interfering with signal quality. I am finding it possible to do excellent interviews with the on camera mic at distances that would have been impossible before. Maybe not quite as good as having a sound man, but a huge step forward for onemanbanding. My only complaint is that the included softie is not particularly effective against wind noise, but good thirdparty solutions are available. Using it on the A7R4, I also very much appreciate having an easily accessible manual volume control. For me a leap forward in oncamera mics.
