I love this battery so much I have purchased 3 of them. With the appropriate adapter, I use this with my Panasonic Lumix GH3. I literally use my camera for several hours a day, serval days in the week and the battery lasts.

The reason I ordered a new battery was the fact that my battery in the camera was at least 15 years old and I had to be sure I had a back up for the event. This is my third battery and the first Sony 9 hour battery died about at 12 years. They can record up to about 750 minutes if you dont use the flip out monitor. I prefer to use my view finder, because I feel that you pay better attention to what you are videoing. I do the same with my Nikon DSL camera. I always charge my battery within 24 hours after using it. I now they are worth the money.Paul

I have always used Sony cameras with the NPF970 batteries. I have since changed cameras and still find ways to use the Sony batteries. The other brand cameras authentic batteries cant seem to find a way to match sonys long lasting batteries. We now use them to power monitors and other electronic equipment. Theyre great

When performance and longevity is critical, I NOW only trust the Sony brand. This replaces an off brand that began to rapidly discharge after 45 minutes. I have the Sony NX5.

Im the Chief News Videographer for a smallmarket CBSNBC duopoly, and we have a fleet of eleven Sony DSRPD150s. Most of our batteries are the now outofproduction F960s, but were replacing them with the F970s as the old ones are lostbroken. The runtime of either battery model is unheard of in the ENG business…the fivepound bricks we used on our Betacams and Doctors would last maybe 90 minutes, half that when using the camera light. With a F970, our PD150s get a solid 68 hours of realworld poweron time.We do use several Sony HVL20DW2 camera lights, and we have issues with the batteries shutting themselves off. Like the previous reviewer stated, we have to put the batteries either on the Sony charger or on the camera for them to reset. My theory is the 1020 watt power drain from the lights upsets the batteries builtin computer.Ive read complaints about how expensive the Sony batteries are, but were only talking 105 for a battery that will power your camera for many hours…..in a news environment, its wonderful not having to worry about batteries going dead. The old NiCad bricks were 300 or more each, and you always had to carry extras….. Expertise 10 Years Broadcast News Videographer Problems Encountered Seems to be incompatible with Sonys HVL20DW2 camera light. Previous Equivalent Item Owned NPF960

As professional sports videographer for over twenty years Ive had to learn the hard way that genuine Sony battery packs are the only ones you can count on for hours of power and reliability.Like many I have tried all types of battery packs to save some money. All of them never held there charges after just a few shoots and many others didnt withstand the rigors of run and gun shooting. They literally feel apart. When shooting three day at sea trusting your cameras battery life is a must. When you need the best buy the best. Sony battery Packs. Its that simple.

While the Sony FS100 I recently bought from BH runs much longer on the included standard battery than any video camera Ive ever owned, I still needed a second battery to get through a long days shoot. Instead of another of the small batteries, I got the larger F970. It wasnt that much more money. So far I havent run it down on a shoot. Because the battery is heavier than the standard one, it puts a little bit of extra weight at the back of the camera, making it more centered on the tripod when a heavy lens is used.

I use this for indie film production. I shot all day 9 hours on set with this battery in a NEX FS100 and at the end of the day it still had 49 of the charge remaining. Ive never seen anything like this. I had a similar experience with the infolithium battery in a little handheld sony HD Camcorder.

While off brand knock off batteries can be purchased at much lower prices, I only buy batteries carrying the brand name. Far far longer lasting charge and battery life are important to me. I learned this lesson with both Sony and Canon video cameras.

Original manufacturers equipment. Even though the Sony A 580 DSLR came with a long life Lithium battery, experience has taught that batteries run low at the worst possible times Murphys Law. I dont like to use third party manufacturer batteries in any of my cameras. You really dont save anything if a nonOEM battery fails when you really need reliable power.

I purchased a offbrand of this Sony battery for a much reduced price, but I never know when the battery will lose its charge. I have 3 other Sony L series batteries and I always know exactly how much time I have left on the battery and its accurate This battery is great to go all day long if you need it to The only downside is that it puts the Sony Z1U on the heavy side for a Steadicam unless you use the jacket and articulated armtoo expensive for me.

I have had many different brands of batteries for my Sony A99 but, found that the nonSony batteries are far inferior to the Sonys. Some 3rd party batteries work well, some do not, even within the same brand. I have had to discard many 3rd party batteries, pure frustration. The Sony batteries work well, are reliable, and a best buy in the long run.

Got it charged it and been using hot and heavy on a battery sled for the Lowell Blenders. I have yet to drain it even after three hours of steady lighting so very pleased. Off brands cant seem to match it. Only downside, when charging on the Sony Twin charger, it will not show a reading for useful Hours but does show Time Left to charge, Time to Full charge, etc.

I once ordered an aftermarket replacement camera battery from another website, and regretted it. The battery had half the capacity of the markings present on the unit. Not so here. OEM batteries are true to their electronic ratings, and the bang is worth the buck in this case. Thanks

BH have the best prices I have seen for genuine Sony batteries. If you spend a lot on a camera, I dont see the point in cutting corners and buying non original batteries. The cell holds its charge well over the years.

Bought it as the second battery for my Sony SLTA99v. This Sony genuine battery does exactly what it supports to do. If you already spent lots of money on a camera, then dont take any risks of using a generic battery. The price of this brand name battery is a little higher than generic ones, but you got what you pay.

This battery is a Sony genuine battery. It is big and has a very high capacity. I got the Sony dual charger and the charger tells everything about itcapacity, time to charge, battery life, total hours since put on service. I use this with my camcorder tvr 520. The original batteryNPF960 that I got for it about 22years ago is still very good, but I wanted to have the second battery, just in case. As you can see this type of battery last a very long time. So I got the second one based on trying this battery. BH is a good place to buy original Sony parts. They only sell original brands. I recommend them for your Sony needs.

A few years back i bought a cheaper battery and always had problems with the quality of the connection to my camera. Sometimes I would lose all power while shooting. I would have to reseat the battery to make it work again. It has never been a problem with the sony product.

Second battery for a vacation trip. Works the same as the original…decent time with a charge but it does vary if you have to use the stabilization feature in a camera….or at least that has been my experience. Provides power for extended period of time so you dont have to worry about running out just when you need it most. Used it on a wedding and it took me from the preparations, through the ceremony and for the entire reception with power to spare. I do wish the long lasting battery could be made in a smaller size and lighter weight but this is a small price for the peace of mind.

Im very impressed by the runtime that this battery allows. For the first time ever, I can truly shoot all day on just one battery. It lasts at least five hours, if not more. While I purchased this as my second battery, I doubt I will ever need the one that came with the camera because the battery lasts so long as second is hardly needed.

I only use the factory battery for my Sony cameras. I tried another brand and it wasnt good, waste of money. Offbrands dont hold a charge nearly as long, dont show an accurate percentage of power like the factory brand does, and their performance is sketchy. Its not that I go after name brands, its because it is actually better.

I work with production sound and bought this battery to fit my Sound Devices 633 recorder. It gives me a nice option of powering when my NP1 runs out and i have plenty of time to keep recording and change to another NP1. If im in a run gun doc or reality situation, i dont worry about changing it until the take is cut. My only problem with it is the time of recharge. Compared to my NP1s this takes forever to charge 46h, and the double charger only charges one battery per time.

This is a great battery for an event or wedding videographer. I dont have to worry about it dying during the long day so there is no loss of a moment unless you count switching tapes. Very convenient. This is my second one. My first one lasted for 6 years of shooting before it finally died and it couldnt be charged anymore. I know other videographers who buy several smaller batteries and the hassle and price is not worth it when you add up having 6 batteries versus this one For the price and longevity it is a great investment.

This battery is amazing I use it with my Sound Devices 702 and running one mic at 48k 24 bit, I got a lot of hours on it compared to the stock one that comes with the recorder. I highly reccomend it for anyone looking at purchasing a nicely juiced battery.

I got this to increase the recording time of my NX5. I am getting on average a good solid 6 hours per charge. This is powering both the NX5U and FMU. I highly recommend this battery pack Note, I would not recommend using this with the Sony 20W oncamera light in conjunction with the NX5. It is too big and you cant close the LCD with the light mounted on the accessory shoe. Even with the 770, its difficult, but can be accomplished.

I use this product to power my FX1000 and HVL20DW2. For the camera, 440 minutes of recording time is great Shooting weddings and events becomes a no brainer with this battery I dont know the rating of time for the light but so far, the battery hasnt died on me. It does take a few hours to recharge the battery but it isnt a problem if you have spares or have time between jobs to recharge.

This battery lasts for hours and takes many charges. I put them through vigorous almost daily use and they always come through. I have used 4… first one lasted for several years until I left it to charge for about a week. It was already old and didnt like that. The second worked perfectly until I dropped it 6 feet onto a rocky slope where it tumbled a few more feet, they dont seem to like that either. The other two I use on my Sony FX7 and Sony Video Light. Be careful to buy from a trusted source. I have gotten two counterfeits through the online auction site… first one did OK, but didnt last like a true Sony, so when I got the second I sent it back. You can find info on how to identify counterfeits online.

Im using this with an a580… so, I get around 1000 shots… but, thats more the cameras power management and less the battery at work. Compared to generics, these tend to hold a charge for much longer, so I dont need to worry about recharging after a few months of nonuse. I dont like how much they cost… seriously Sony. Be advised, these take roughly 3hrs for a 100 charge.

This battery is high quality, and looks identical to the one that came with my camera Sony A65vk. Shortly after I recieved this battery I made the mistake of putting my camera away and leaving it on. When I got to the Photo Shoot the next day I would have been in trouble with drained battery. But I had this second battery fully charged and ready to go. So, having a second battery has saved me once already.

When your shooting all day or on vacation you do not want to run out of juice. I edit while I go and use live view all the time, this takes juice. I take two extra batteries all of the time. Batteries are cheap, considering you no longer need film. So,stock up on extra batteries and never miss a shot.

I bought this as a 2nd backup for camping vacations. I already own 2 others. This battery is great. I often leave my Sony alpha on for hours, so having extra batteries on hand lets me forget about having to turn off the camera to conserve. I check the percent of battery left at the start of the day, and do not even think further about it if there is 66 or more. If less, I put a second in my pocket in case I need it. I rotate the 3 batteries so they are all getting recharged regularly. Having 3 just means I do not have to recharge every day. I do birds, insects, and flowers, so the camera gets lots of use.

Just bought Sony A700 and realised the Battery I had for A330 cant be used for it. Had previous bad experience with aftermarket batteries where it failed to provide battery status and hold charge. Sony infolithium batteries never fail me once with my A330. Was an easy decision to make for backup battery.

I recently tried to save money buying a replacement for this battery on an auction site. I was very disappointed. The replacement immediately starting losing its charge, and very quickly. Well, you would be excited if you had a Sony camera that required a special battery. You dont want to be depending on one rechargeable battery, even when it might be good for 750 digital images. So, you go to B H to get a spare. Now, that feels better.

  52. blank

    Ralph

I bought this as a spare battery for my Sony A900 body. If you only take day trips, you may never need a spare A900 battery. The Sony Infolithium L Series batteries have always been a staple in my video accessories collection. With the addition of the NPF970 I can eliminate the need to change batteries so often and when I need to pack light I can carry fewer spare batteries. All of this is due to the significant increase in battery life as compared to previous Infolithium L models. Simply put, you get the same unmatched quality of an Infolithium L series battery with the added benefit of longer life. The only downside could be the added size of the battery. If using the battery to power hotshoe mounted lights or lcd screens, the battery size could interfere very slightly with your ability to grip the camera handle. This would mainly impact a camera user with very large hands. If you need a new battery or you are looking to add a backup battery to your arsenal, this is the battery to buy.

  55. blank

I own a Sony A1U camcorder which takes an Infolithium M battery, but when I tried it in my Sony Alpha A57, it wouldnt fit I assume the voltages are slightly different. So I went shopping here at BH, and saw that the right battery has a groove on the face which allows it to slide into the battery compartment. So I ordered one new and one used. After charging for 90 minutes, I find theyre both working quite well, and for the length advertised.

OK lets be reasonable, there isnt a lot one can say about a battery. But with a good full charge this battery holds a charge well and its feedback to the camera regarding its charged state seems reliable. I have it in my Sony Alpha65 DLSR. Havent had enough experience to evaluate the claim that it had no memory effect in regards to charging. I give 4 stars only because that last bit is still unknown.

I bought this as a back up battery for my Sony a65 DSLR digital camera. Always good to have a back up when taking lots and lots of pictures. This is the same brand and model of battery that came with my camera so I had no worries of it not working well when I got the battery in the mail.

I bought two of these to have as spares. I currently have them installed in the vertical grip for my Sony a99. I purchased the sony branded batteries because I didnt want to chance a problem with an aftermarket compatible battery. I have used aftermarket compatible batteries in other equipment and have had only a rare instance where the battery didnt read properly, but when removed and reinstalled it was fine. That being said, with the cost of the a99, for personal hobby use it was a significant expenseI felt it not worth chancing an aftermarket battery either not performing properly or damaging my equipment. To date, the batteries have charged and lasted as expected. I have never had a problem with branded oem replacement items.

The original Sony battery that came with my camera has given me yeomans service, but with age comes a reduction in battery performance. It still gives me several hours of service before dying but not as long as when it was new. I have an offbrand battery as a spare that lacks the Sonys performance, so I decided to add this second Sony battery as a backup and an eventual replacement for the original battery. I cant risk being in the field without a reliable backup when the primary battery dies out.

This battery works excellent in my Sony Alpha100 camera. I took it on a 2week trip, took 1500 photos generally no flash, and never needed to charge it. Really I tend to turn off my camera every few shots, so my habits save power, but this battery certainly outperforms the stock battery. Be careful buying this battery elsewhere besides BH there seem to be a lot of people coming across discount fakes, especially from sellers. The battery BH sent was the real thing Id never expect less from them.

I own 3 of these for professional videography. I am currently in Zimbabwe, Africa, for a 3 month trip of filming hunting safaris with my Sony HDRAX2000. Ive had 1 of these since october 2012 and I bought 2 more for this trip. Ive had no problems with them. Ive dropped them a couple times, with no ill effects. They seemed to take forever to charge from the camera with the camera plugged in via its power cord about 7 hours, but i purchased a charger for this trip and it charges two at once pretty quickly compared to the camera itself. Ill usually put them on the charger when i go to bed and they are ready when i wake up and i dont always get a full 8 hours sleep. They are supposed to last for 7 hours straight of continuous recording. I havent timed them, but they seem to last that long. I have been leaving my camera turned on turned on, not recording all day from about 5 am to dark6pm as to not miss a thing and two of these has been more than sufficient. The 3rd is only a backup. Id recommend these batteries to anyone, but I dont know if there are even any alternative options for sony cameras.

A year ago I was looking for a high capacity battery for a professional Panasonic camera that was admittedly ancient and couldnt find a battery I liked that could hold a candle to the canon BP975 I use with my Canon FX100. When I recently got my hands on an elderly Sony HVRZ5U I remembered Sony made some great batteries I used to have a DSR PD150. I found my old charger and debated purchasing the Sony NPF970 battery, or an adapter so that I could plug my new camera into the wall while streaming basketball games. I went with the battery and have not been disappointed. I dont know what the maximum capacity of this battery is with my specific setup, but I do know that it still had plenty of charge after six hours of broadcasting earlier this week. This is a great battery and, from what Ive seen, wellpriced.

I like my NPF970 Battery Pack. Its a lot bigger than my old NPF 570 Battery Pack. The Price as came down from what it use to be so that helped me out. My Business is down all most half of what it was last year. This Battery will last all most 3 times longer than my old 570 Battery. I use it for Weddings. On my DSRPD 170

My Sony A700 digital camera turns out to consume more power than I expected I am a recent switcher to digital from good old film.. and I like to make long backpacking treks so I needed extra batteries. Unfortunately, there are only original Sony batteries available for the A700. These battries are quite expensive especially outside the US in Europe, where I come from, they would cost between USD 80 100. The Sony batteries are great though and are accurately displaying the charge left and keep their charge well while not being used at least for the duration of my trips it is not a good idea to keep them charged when storing them for a prolonged period. I have recharged my first battery some 50 times now, yet do not notice a decay in performance yet. I do make sure that every now and then I fully discharge the battery in the camera just use till the camera stops working to keep it well calibrated. It is a bit confusing to see the batties listed as for the A100 camera which also takes the older version of this battery the A700 can only use this battery

This little battery does what it says it will. I get about 350 or more photos per battery out of each charge. The info lithium is a great thing, and I appreciate the wall charger unit, with swiveling power prongs for the wall. Now, I dont have to search for and keep track of any power supplies or extra cords. The battery just pops onto the charger and you swivel the prongs into position, plug it in, and about 4 to 5 hours later, you have a fully charged battery. The LED indicator goes from amber to out when charging is completed. So dont expect to see a green LED. I also really enjoy that in the OLED EVF viewfinder that the batteries give the user an accurate percentage of life left in them. I use the Vello version of camera battery grip, which I also heavily advise for those either with larger than medium hands, someone who wants better balance while hand holding larger, heavier lenses, or for extended shooting time as the gri can hold up to 2 batteries in the unit.

Im a heavy amature shooter and typically will shoot several hundered or even a couple thousand frames on the days I shoot… depending on the subject, still life or live performances be it live bands or the ballet. These batteries have the backbone to keep shooting without have to change excessively. They last way longer than my Nikon batteries for my D200. I bought a spare just in case and havent needed it yet. I usually can get through the shoot on one battery and still have some left over. The only issue I may have is that they take several hours to charge… more, it seems, than it took for the Nikon ENEL3. So, make sure you put them on the charger before you go to bed or you may not make that early morning presunrise glow

These sony batteries may cost more, but they are incredible In my NX5u they have an incredible battery life, and Ive not had any problems with them If you need a reliable battery thats going to work when you need it, these are well worth the money. a functional spare battery as needed. it works perfectly, but i raise an eyebrow as this battery is for my sony a550, and i own an a100 that has the same battery except for the notch down the center of this battery. in all their infinite marketing wisdom, sony disallows the use of previous incarnations of the same battery simply by incorporating the notch. read make more money. im not complaining too loudly though. its just a bit disingenuous on sonys part.

After using the smaller Sony batteries for documentary shoots, its been great to now have the NPF970. Its charge seems to last forever. It also doesnt seem to make the camera much heavier when handholding. The only downside to this battery is the length of time it takes to charge.

I look to these batteries as reliable and long lasting I have had good luck with them in the past. They are workhorses. I just got this one and use it on a Sony NX3, but have used them before on similar cameras. The main reason I do not give them full stars is that Sony and other brands have occasionally put small light up indicators on the battery cases that let you know the approximate charge at the push of a button without attaching the battery and powering on the camera. I prefer those ones the indicator has saved me from running off with a low battery on a few cases especially when more than one person is using the gear or handing off gear to others.

It is said, you get what you pay for, and in this case it is true. In the past I purchased no name brand batteries from the Zon and even some 3rd party batteries right here at BH and none of them even held a charge as long as my old original Sony batteries. The 3rd party BH batteries never read more that 1hr 17min in my Sony charger and I averaged between 60 and 90min use with those. The no names were worse and neither had any appreciable shelf life. The OEM Sony batteries are the complete opposite. Consistent 5hr reading on charger, with my shooting style I can get at least that in usage time and the batteries hold a charge considerably longer than the pretenders. Its a nobrainer, stick with the Sony.

Sony cameras use proprietary batteries. While batteries from other manufacturers can be found for a lower price that might make things happen for a while, your camera must communicate with the battery for full functionality. The best bet is to use the battery that was made to get the job done. I havent sold anything yet, even though I try. Mainly, I just walk around in the woods or the back yard and have fun with the camera. This battery last for as long as I need generally less than an entire day of sporadic shooting. And Sony has made it priceless to know how much shooting I can do without worrying if I have to stop in the middle of the action. The numeric percentage left indicator is worth the price of the battery. The BH Sony battery is the real deal and of course costs more than the fakes. Professionally use many of these batteries freelance and at my job at a local cable access tv station. They are reliable, charge reasonably fast, and lasts typically for hours on the camcorders they fit. I purchased two of these to run our FS700, which is also running the Metabones EF adapter. Even with the extra power use by the adapter, the battery lasts a long time about 5 hours under typical shooting conditions, and longer than much larger batteries that run other video cameras we own. Because they are Sonys own product, they talk to the camera in terms of feedback on remaining power in the battery, which is very helpful between long takes. They do take a while to charge fully, so if you have more than one, I would recommend finding a good dual charger unit.

I also use the Sony ACVQ1050 AC AdaptorCharger to charge two batteries at the same time. These batteries are well worth the price.

I use this particular battery on all of my cameras in my production work. I video weddings, high school sports for cable television and do training videos for the industries in our area. You need a battery that you can count on and the Lithium Battery Pack NPF970 by Sony is that battery.

I have read so many posts on multiple websites, indicating that the replacment battery that they bought thinking they could save a bit of money, have run into problems some of them severe enough that they had to send their cameras out for removal which was going to get expensive. I know I paid a bit more for this unit but I shopped with a reputable camera specialist and bought the OEM product. It fits perfectly and provides just what it should. Thank you BH

I have read comments elsewhere that this battery has not worked in a Sony a100. I have not had it very long, but Sony says it is compatible and it is working fine in mine. Sony also claim that this battery will go longer between charges than the original, but the a100 is pretty stingy on power use anyway. Four stars because I think it is a bit on the pricey side.

Its a battery. Charge it up and start clicking. BH has been my go to vendor for 10 years. When it comes to batteries, I buy only OEM. The knockoffs are a gamble.

I usually film concerts and events, weddings, graduations, programs, etc that are at least a couple of hours long. I would be lost without a longterm battery covering me while I cover these events. The Sony Brand is the only one I buy and recommend. Its the most reliable.

Use these batteries on Sony prosumer camcorders and sony video lights. Works well on Sony 2020 and Sony HVLLBP LED video lite. Get hours of use, also hours of use with Sony Prosumer FX1 and FX1000 cameras. You dont have much choice here and these products work best with Sony Batteries.

I use this with the Sony HVRZ7U. On my first day with this battery, I had a very long shooting day that composed of 4 lengthy interviews, as well as a significant amount of broll footage. At the end of the day and using the LCD viewfinder throughout most of the day, I still had about 30 minutes left on this battery. I was stunned that it lasted that long and I never had to change a battery throughout the shoot.

I just replaced two NPFM500H batteries. After six years they no longer hold a charge for a reasonable amount of time. I think thats a pretty good lifespan for a lithium battery.

I got this to use with my Tilta Side Handle and have been ver impressed with the life. Around 3 hours I am also using it to power my Bmpcc4k which is also using a SSD. My biggest complaint is that there is no way to charge this.

I bought this as an accessory to the vertical grip I purchased for my A77. Works as advertised. The price was less than I had expected to pay. I wished it charged faster three hours, but the charge time is reasonably fast.

Its a battery that I use to power my cameras. Cant take pics without them. The genuine Sony brand are better than the nongenuine ones. Why Just coz Id give it 5stars if it was as cheap as the nongenuine ones but you hardly need to take out a bank loan to get these from BH anyway.

I bought two of these 6600mAh batteries for one of our Sony HVR Z7U HD cameras as it was going to be used on a documentary shoot and recharging during the day was not an option. One fully charged F970 lasted us all day, and we never had to change batteries to the backup. I was amazed at how long these battery lasted for such a relatively small package. The only drawback is that they do take several hours to fully charge in the Sony supplied dual charger. But, since we recharged overnight, it was never a problem.

Longest lasting of the LSeries batteries for Sony cameras. Does its job holds a charge for several hours on end, and can be used on multiple Sony products. When not on my camera, I use it with the Sony 1020 video light and it works great.

Works well in the PXWZ150 camera, though it adds somewhat to the weight of such a light camera. I use it when on the tripod, and use the lighter battery when handheld.

so far so good. Just got this and its holding its charge like a trooper. Well see down the road. Ive tried some offbrands in the past and they are a bit squirrely with holding and displaying the correct charge. So I thought this time Id go with a brand and see if I have any better luck. As I said, so far so good.

I needed to replace one of my 7 year old batteries. I found another brand at a fraction of the cost of the true Sony. The savings was worth a chance at a cheaper battery hurting my two Sony Bodies A57 DSLT and A77M2 DSLT

The genuine Sony battery packs deliver hours of use and reliability. I have used the knock offs battery packs to save some money. A couple have literally fell apart. With the genuine Sony batteries you get a more accurate reading of time left. Plus these batteries will use the Quick Mode on the VQ1050 charger.

I use this battery on my Sony Alpha 700 DSLR and it does the job well. At this time, its the only battery on the market that fits the camera since no third party has yet introduced one that works, so I have nothing to compare it with. The camera displays how much charge is left in the battery a nice feature which lets you calculate how soon youll need to prepare a backup at your current rate of use. The downside is you see how quickly the battery is being exhausted as you click away I never get as many shots out of a full charge as the specs say I should. Once the dead battery icon appears on my LCD I can usually get a few more minutes of use but with spotty functionality.

This battery is a needed piece for your battery needs. because it is made by Sony to be used for Sony cameras, you know its going to come through. The larger battery, depending on use charges within a hour and last about 4 hours. I often find myself using one battery all day, best to have another one as back up, but your set for shooting.

Same OEM quality as what comes with your new camera. Same battery life and endurance. 3rd party imported batteries typically hold less charge for less time than these official Sony batteries.

I bought this for an extra battery for my Sony A700. It has come in handy quite a few times in just the first month of owning the camera. I do wish it would charge a little quicker, and that it wouldnt loose its charge while siting in the camera while its turned off so quickly. I think you will have that with just about any battery though. Overall, I think it is a pretty good battery and would buy another one if needed in the future.

I have used this as a spare battery for my a57 and it works great. I can shoot about 450475 photos long exposure 15seconds plus and it does not drain as fast as other batteries when shooting HD video and using AF. I have yet to find a battery that takes more than 500 photos with the way I shoot, but hey, its still a great price for the value. Only real complaint is it takes forever to charge

This battery is very useful and will run the NEX FS100U for a typical 8 hours of shooting. I also use this battery with my Sony Z7u and can get a solid 6 to 7 hours of shooting out of it. These batteries are a necessity when in the field for long hours of shooting.

As an original owner of a Sony Alpha 100, camera, I was disappointed to find that Sony had discontinued this replacement part. One quick email to B H secured me not only a Sony replacement, but also a suggestion for a lowerpriced alternative. I purchased the Sony replacement, because the battery I was replacing was a cheaper replacement, as well. Thanks B H

When these arrived, they had ZERO charge. Completely exhausted. The date on the package said 2014 so it may have just been their age. When I got my new camera and charger I gave them a shot and they did take a charge after a bit of fiddling. They seem to be working okay, but I have not tried to test them in performance to my other batteries. I have found that these batteries can survive being completely drained, though that is not obvious from what most people say. You sometimes just need to leave them on your charger for a while to bring them back. Anyhow, these were HALF PRICE compared to the usual 100 per for new Sony batteries, so I am not surprised that they werent perfect, but I am taking off a star for that initial moment of panic.

This is a great battery for professional applications. I have used these batteries in the field since Aug 2004 with the Sony Z1U. I had two of these, plus the smaller NPF570 in my bag shooting in the arctic in summersome 20 hour days and in the mountains in the wintersome 20 degree days. I never had to stop in the middle of the day to recharge until Aug 2009. That is when both started to show signs of weakening. Now they only work for a couple of hours before needing to be recharged. The decline in performance was really fast. That is when I knew I needed a new battery and after charging it, shot for 8 hours on one new battery. The reason it gets 4 stars and not 5, is because it does not have an LED readout to tell you if it has a charge while it is in the pack. Performance wise, this battery has been a good friend to me.

I bought this battery to use on an adapterdummy battery for my A6500. The battery works and I was able to film for approximately 4 hours with no issues. I predict that the battery would last maybe 6 hours. The only issue that I have with this battery is that the percentage of remaining battery life is not totally accurate. This battery is not really for the A6500 but I like to have this extra battery life for long days of filming.

When it comes to picking up an extra battery, dont go cheap. Sure, you can pick up a non Sony brand battery for about half the price but it will only last half as long. Last thing you want is to be out at a remote location with no battery life left, and no way to charge them.

I received a new Sony a77 recently. I have a Nikon D90 and D700. Im still getting used to the Sony but love the additional pixels. However, the Sony batteries lose their charge fairly quickly compared to the Nikon batteries. Maybe it has something to do with the speed of the Sony which is the fastest camera Ive ever owned. Does it take more energy Be prepared to charge your batteries weekly rather than monthly. Charge time is also slow.

I purchased this battery with the Indipro npfw50 dummy battery setup for my rig and found that the battery does not read out accurately on the A6500, A6300, and my A6000. It should read out the same as the A7 series since its the same battery used. Overall, the battery meter on the camera will decrease by 1 every 45 seconds or so. Once the dead battery sign shows up, the camera will still operate for 12 more hours. The only reason I am not giving this product a 1 star is because it technically still works but I would not consider it compatible with any of the A6000 series cameras.

I always buy Sony batteries. They are reliable and hold up longer than similar batteries intended for the same use. I got good service from BH. The battery was delivered as expeceted. Their web site worked well for me, though Ive not been a frequent user so I cant say anything beyond my experience with this purchase.

If you have a vertical grip for your Sony Alpha camera, you really need a second battery. On the Alpha a700, the camera shows an individual readout for each battery showing the percentage of the charge remaining. The grip will use one battery completely before switching seamlessly to the second one. Two batteries together will provide enough charge for several days of normal shooting around 10001200 frames in my experience
