After 11 purchases of the amazing flip 4 except the battery capabilities which already completely destroyed to more than half of them can be found after market, why cannot be purchased original yesterday I bought flip 5 but I returned it back at same day. Microphone and of course internet calls whats app imo etc not applicable. JBL mentioned in the previous posts that they remove this function for not interrupting the music play when somebody calls you. So when played radio and somebody called me of course the music stops. Useless when you want to use it as hand free. Audio in does not exist I could connect flip 4 with Jack from tv and then through connect to send the sound to the rest of my speakers. Unfortunately that party boost cannot be connected with connect . JBL mentioned that they change this capability for better connectivity between the flip 5 party boost system. I have to mention that connect was working perfectly between flip 4 so i think the answer of JBL is completely wrong and I am sure that the marketing department that decide this change failed or will fail. I dont know how many flip 5 have been saled ad how many will be in the future. Even if the battery of flip 4 failed I wanted to continue to enjoy the quality and the connectivity of the amazing brand called jbl. I am sure they will replace this mistake and give us the opportunity to buy again and again.

Save your money I have no idea how this speaker has great reviews. Dont make my mistake. This speaker lasts max 4 hours on a full charge. And then when its dead after those 4 hours you cant play music until it charges some. It will literally shut down. While its plugged in Total party killer I contacted jbl about this issue and the response was battery life is consumed when played on max volume or playing rock music. What speaker is not played on max volume And why does it die with good ol classic rock Terrible purchase. Hope I can save the next person.

I have an older Logitech PureFi Anywhere 2 that has incredible sound for its size. Ive been comparing other speakers to it and havent been able to find one good enough to replace it. Enter the Flip 5. It looks great in line with JBLs other Bluetooth speakers. When I first got ahold of it, I was surprised at the heft of it. Good speakers need decent sized magnets, and there arent many ways around that, regardless of use.I was immediately blown away with this little thing. I didnt expect such clarity and volume from a speaker this size. The bass is actually better then my Logitech. All I can say is that this is our new vacationbeachpoolwhatever speaker. It rocks

Wanted the sound of the Clip 2 but louder. This is very bass dominant wo adjustments. Puts out loud sound, great for poprock, over emphasized bass on country. It is louder than the clip, good output. I was so excited to get it, but it randomly shuts off, erratic timing, even when plugged in. There was no low battery noise, the light bar changes color. It just shuts off. I returnedwarranty and Josh was polite and helpful via phone, i had to send in and wait for new speaker they would expedite upon receiving my return. why u have my visa I ordered too fast and chose blue intending to grab black, oh well, but take note when ordering. I hate to review this early wo the second one……well see.

Bought this for my husband for his birthday. He had been wanting a JBL speaker for some time but never said which model. I was so lost trying to pick which one to get him as I know nothing about speakers. I narrowed it down to the charge or the Flip. Although the charge has more battery life and the ability to charge your phone, it was said the Flip had better sound quality. I went with the Flip and do not regret it. The sound quality is FANTASTIC and its compact that we can bring it to the beachbarbecuesparties etc. Super happy with it Would recommend especially for the price.

Awesome. I just wrote a lengthy review which somehow disappeared. So Ill make this brief. I am so impressed by the sound quality, sturdy solid construction and how far I can be away from my tablet and still get excellent reception. I can listen to it continuously for about 12 hours on a full charge. UnbelievableI purchased the package whard case which is absolutely coolI use it everyday from the minute I wake up. Makes my day start on such a positive level.Im 67 years old and Ive never heard quality like this from any of the old speakers before Bluetooth technology. And lastly… The cost. Price was amazingly low for such qualityGreat speaker

I will make some pros and cons of this speaker for this review. Ill start with a con which I found very annoying This speaker made loud noises when it did just about everything No reviews that I have read or watched, have ever even mentioned these loud noises For example, when I turned it on, it made a loud noise just from booting up the speaker. Then, it made repeated sonar pingsechos to search for the Bluetooth signal. And then once it found the signal, it made another loud guitar strum noise. After I was done using it, turning it off meant it made another loud sound, like a space shuttles computer shutting down. And these loud noises are NOT volumecontrolled so I couldnt turn down the sounds in a quiet environment And this speaker continued to make these loud noises every time that I turn it onoff. It just didnt make the sonar pings the second time around, because it already synched up with the Bluetooth device but the guitar sound still strummed every time, right after the bootup sound. Only changing the volume updown, does this speaker NOT make any loud noises.A little con is the fact that this speaker was not able to be controlled with the volume buttons on my laptop computer…Now on to the pros… Well, the sound quality was very good, for a speaker in this price range I would recommend this speaker to anyone who doesnt want to spend more than 100 on a Bluetooth speaker. Most of the reviews that I have seen have talked about how this speaker has a big delay in sound while watching online videos. What delay I didnt notice any delay. Everything just looked and sounded the same as when I use my other, JBL and nonJBL branded, Bluetooth speakers.Another little pro is how each press of the volume buttons change the sound subtly. You can still hear an increase or decrease in sound, but its not a big swing, unlike some other Bluetooth speakers.

In a normal bedroom environment I could not believe the great Sound this little speaker has. Compared to the link 10, it is far superior. At normal use 30 to 40 volume, the battery lasted me 4 days. This little speaker seems to be true stereo, That is left and right with a subwoofer that does its job. I really like the feature that you could change the EQ to preset settings. There is a battery indicator which comes in really handy. I read the brochure that came with the flip 5 and it says that you go up to 3 feet underwater. This do not test, however, does real good in the shower. There are only two things I did not like about the flip 5. Firstly, it takes its own special cord. So if you take this out with you you have to take the cord. Never seen a cord like this before. Its not like he can go to Walmart and get one of these chords. Lastly, theres an easy fix for this one, its pretty bright. So at night time when youre listening to music the lights are pretty bright. Little bit of good gaff tape and youre all set.

purchased two and couldnt be happier with my choice. Placed them in the rafters of our outdoor gazebo and it fills the space with music. You cant even tell where the music is coming from. In fact Im thinking about buying a third to kick it up a notch since the two are so freaking good. The bass will not knock you over but very adequate for most music. Honestly it did take me about 30 minutes or so to figure out JBL connect and the sequence with which you turn the speakers on but after I got over my being old moment I now can fire both up with no trouble and the stereo affect is outstanding. I have not experienced any dead moments that some have talked about. These are replacing my old Bose Mini II and Im very glad I took the leap.

We purchased this JBLFlip 5 Portable Bluetooth Speaker for our Grandson for his 15th birthday. We had never heard of the JBL speaker before. It was the first item my Grandson had listed on his birthday list. Since it was the first item on his list, we felt it was something that he really wanted. After doing some research, we chose the JBLFlip 5 speaker. We would recommend this JBL speaker for young and old. My son bought me the exact same speaker for Christmas and, if truth be told, Ive been enjoying this speaker every bit as much, as my Grandson enjoys his.

My wife purchased this speaker on Amazon. At first we were pleased with its performance on our lake trip, however, the change in the multispeaker connection technology ruined outdoor family movie night. We were unable to connect our speaker to our family members JBL xtreme 2. Half the family left early because they were unable to hear. Our family and friends are heavily invested in JBL speakers. I cannot think of a more conumer unfriendly decision. Save yourself some money and go with the Flip 4 or better yet go with a different company that doesnt support backwards compatibility.

This is probably one of the best small and portable speakers I have ever bought. Love using this all the time. Great for all music needs. You trying to rock out while showering the JBL can do that. You trying to sing show tunes while making dinner and need something to drown out the sound of the fire alarms because you accidentally burned something it can do that as well. Have a group of friends over and want to relax with some tunes it can do that as well. You trying to annoy your neighbors with music because theyre being obnoxiously loud, this thing has so much power your nextdoor neighbor and your neighbors neighbor will hear it. Highly recommend.

After quite some research I bought the flip 5 and I am quite impressed. Here is my review so far Pros The speakers battery life is top of the line, and quick charging through USBC is a big pro as most other speakers this price have the slower miro USB. the speaker is fine with water and there is no way someone could easily break the speaker or even damage it the side radiators are also reinforced internally. Connection range is great and I tested stability 100ft. No issues with Bluetooth quality as it plays at a high bitrate. Sound for this speakers size is outstanding, and compared to the 4, the flip 5s base is incomparable it is miles ahead. Cons The biggest drawback is that they chose not to carry over connect plus support. Party boost is great, but they could have given this speaker this ability easily. The transmission lag is small but could have been better in comparison to Bluetooth 5.0. The lack of a line in was probably due to waterproofing and isnt too bad considering lots of devices are ditching them. Summary There are many complaints about the mono sound that I didnt find any issue in. Having two stereo drivers an inch apart playing at high volume vs a single mono driver is nearly indistinguishable. Mono in a closed tube radiating enclosure like the flip lineup also boosts performance dramatically. The 20 watt driver is a beast and has no noticeable distortion at max volume I use it in a grass field and it is extremely loud. The speaker will last me a long time, and as more newer speakers are released, party boost will become more usable.

Got this for a jobsite work speaker and I love its LONG battery life and sound quality. I have had it for over a year and rain or cold weather it just keeps rockin for 8 hours at medium volume. Its fully waterproof and it has taken some good falls also. A major plus is the battery indicator which many speakers do not offer. It also has a hidden Base Boost feacher for people who listen to Rap music but that will eat into the battery life faster. Its very portable, about the size of a 16 ounce can of soda. Best small speaker for the money IMHO.

I absolutely love this speaker. I enjoy the portability of it. I can take it anywhere and have a party. The sound quality is terrific and it doesnt garble at higher volumes. The battery lasts for quite a while, although I usually dont listen to it for long periods of time. I love that its waterproof so I can put it on the bathroom sink or the side of the tub and listen to all my favorite songs. It was hard for me to decide on which color to buy. They were are so cute I chose the aqua blue. Love this speaker

This upgraded model is actual a downgrade in features in my opinion. Speaker phone capabilities have been removed and its bluetooth connectivity is not as strong as previous versions. There is some occasional static during playback at my office desk. I get it that USBC is the preferred charging protocol. Sound quality and the water resistance performance are still solid. Not having the speakerphone capabilities is a bummer. There is nothing to really make it standout now.

I just entered the blue tooth speaker arena in the last six months, wanting a speaker I can put on my tailgate and listen to while I work on fire hydrants, around the house and pool too. This speaker does what its specifications and reviews claim. Though I wanted a louder one, this gets pretty loud within range and reason. It cant overcome a loud semitruck going by, but around the pool its great. The bass is surprising for such a small speaker. durability seems pretty good so far, I am not worried about breaking anything off of it lets say. Controls seem encapsulated and protected though easy to use. That said, there were no instructions about how to do different things like pause, skip, next, etc.. Just a quick start guide. Deeper instruction on how to use it comes from the internet I suppose.

quite impressed with this speaker. It pairs very easily with my apple mobile phone. We found it perfect for outside in the back garden. Nice clear sound, but not enough for neighbours to complain.Simple to use, i havent ran the battery out even after 34 hours of playing music in the garden sunny day, chairs and barbque out etcI also used it during work, network cabling a building so was great when i was doing the patch panels having some decent sounds while punching down some ethernet for a couple of hours.Appears well made, feels quite solid witrh a reasonable weight to it.Scan did have it on offer, and cheaper than amazon and no i dont work for Scan im an IT manager at a local school

Extremely happy with this Bought it to go kayaking with since its waterproof and came with the wrist strap that I can clip onto my kayak to keep it safe. I was shocked at how loud it gets while still having perfect sound clarity and bass Perfect sizeweight to travel with. I almost got Charge 4 but decided it would be too big for travel. Im glad I didnt get it because the Flip 5 is really all you need unless youre trying to throw a huge dance party with a lot of people. I originally purchased the white but returned it for fear of it eventually getting dirty or the plastic parts yellowing. Settled on the grey color which is a perfect medium shade that shouldnt show dirt easily and wont absorb lots of heat from the sun.

A couple of years ago I bought a JBL Flip 4 specifically so that I could pair it with my Charge 3, since my old Flip 3 would no longer pair with it. I decided to add a third speaker to this party and ordered the new Flip 5 to pair with them. I couldnt get my Flip 5 to pair with any of my other speakers. I had to google the problem and found out via a YouTube video that the newer models, yet again, will not pair with any older models, and no firmware update will fix this.I decided to go back to the product page to see if I missed a note that says it does not pair with older models, and I could not find this information anywhere. A handful of people in the YouTube comments had also ordered new speakers to pair with their existing ones, having no idea that it would not work. I decided to return my Flip 5 and buy another Flip 4 on Amazon so I wouldnt have to buy ALL new speakers. I really wish this would have been mentioned on the product page for those of us who are loyal to the brand

This speaker sounds great for the size but there is a hardware limitation that can ruin the listening experience. It has a mono driver, not stereo. So certain recordings, you can be missing instruments entirely because they were recorded with the intent of being played back on stereo speakers. You can get some instrumentation back by manually changing the balance from center which is default to L or R bias but if a single recording alternates a particular instrument L and R, it will still sounds weird. I havent noticed any issues with most songs, luckily, but for a few, it drives me crazy. Ill just have to make sure my next purchase contains stereo drivers to avoid this limitation.

I have continued to be impressed by this small JBL speaker. It has met and even surpassed my expectations from what was advertised.First off, when you get this speaker, I dare you to go outside and turn it up full blast. See how long you last before you turn it down from fear of disturbing your neighbors. For such a compact speaker, it is incredibly loud Seriously, test it out.As I said, the speaker is very compact, which allows me to bring it anywhere with little effort and the sound quality makes it worth it. My friend has a pill speaker too, but she prefers to use mine because it is noticeably better. And as far as waterproof, I was sitting oustide under an umbrella the other day and all of a sudden it began to downpour. I decided to test the speaker for what it was advertised for, and the base was literally bouncing the water off it. It was drenched by the end of the shower and working just the same, and still works great to this day. Very impressed with this. From what similar speakers go for on the market, this speaker seemed to be reasonably priced, especially for its sound and durability. I think the market in general is too high for these speakers, but if you are going to get a pill speaker or any BT speaker for that matter this one is definitely a solid choice.I intend to use this speaker for years to come as my goto outdoor speaker. It has been great so far and from what I have seen and heard, and I think it will give me many years of quality sound to come. The fact that it is made of 90 recycled plastic is an added plus that I can appreciate. Hope this helps

I used to own the JBL Charge 2, until an unfortunate dip in a river cost it its battery life. Id always loved the sound quality of that speaker, so I bought the Charge 3 without hesitation. However I was a little confused as I felt the sound didnt feel as bright, or wellrounded. It had plenty of bass, but the highs were audibly missing compared to my Charge 2. So I figured Id give the JBL Flip 5 a listen, and purchased it simultaneously to try a sidebyside comparison. The Flip 5 was the clear winner to my ears. Its sound is crisp and very wellrounded, with loads of bass and excellent highs. All my test songs sounded better on the Flip 5 compared to the Charge 3 which I later returned. The battery is also phenomenal. Granted this is right out of the box so naturally the batterys going to be great, but I feel like I dont have to worry about charging it at all. It just keeps going for days of intermittent use. I used it for several hours one night, then continuously at mediumhigh volume for 5 hours on a rafting trip, and another several hours at home before it finally petered out. The Charge 3 might get a little louder, but I never pushed either speaker to its maximum volume to test it. Honestly, the Flip 5 is PLENTY loud for anyones home, and the sound holds up great at high volume. At about 65 volume I feel its too loud in my apartment to play for more than a minute without bothering my neighbors. And on the river trip it carried across a good 120150 feet of water not loudly, but audible for sure. The only thing Im not crazy about is the lack of a foot for it to stand on. Its weighted to always roll to a single resting point with the logo pointed up slightly, but since I have the white speaker, I have to be mindful of not putting it down on something dirty and staining the mesh. Definitely, definitely happy with this purchase. In my mind, and for this pricepoint, its the ideal balance of small size, terrific sound, BIG output, and excellent battery life. Highly recommend this one

I bought a JBL Flip 5 about two months ago. I was blown away by the improvements from the 3 and the 4. It picks up much deeper bass, while not distorting. The mids and highs are decent and the overall soundstage is fluid. Music from indie rock to hip hop sound fantastic. It is a little bigger than its predecessors, feels sturdy, and looks even better. Its a bit heavier and does not take calls, but I dont mind those changes. I highly recommend this product if youre only wanting one speaker. I have not had technical issues with a single speaker. Two speakers is where the disappointment begins. The one sounded so good, and partyboost capability is advertised as a selling point, so why wouldnt two sound incredible They do. I bought another but playing them together has been a frustrating experience. Whether using the JBL connect app or not, they do not link well. It worked the first time, using the app to link them and set to stereo mode. After that they constantly crackle and cut out and cannot be used at all this way. I have found a workaround, but its highly annoying. However, the stereo sound is SO good that I have decided to suffer through it and hope that JBL will repair this and hopefully this fix will help them in figuring out how. 1 From Bluetooth setting Forget both Flips you may need to have Flips off 2 Turn flips on and pair to Bluetooth 3 Open the Connect app and let it find devices 4 Choose your mode and click the to link the 2nd speaker 5 Play music 6 After each listening session you will have to repeat this tedious process. This occasionally fails as well. Occasionally, it fails at getting ready your speaker. You will have to start this process over again. I have been a loyal JBL customer and have brought many friends to JBL at this point, so this is just so frustrating. Ive come to expect top quality, even from their budget products. I hope they will solve this. If not I am all about checking out UE. I heard their products pair perfect and more quickly. JBL, your great quality has reeled me in and kept me interested but Im not so won over to not jump ship.

Pros The sound has good depth to it. The design is robust and minimal. I like.Cons Bluetooth connection with my computer has proved problematic. I use my computer to record music, so i adjust the settings each time i do this. The speaker doesnt seem to like it and it takes a lot of pfaffing, turning speakers, computers and bluetooth settings and on and off to get it working again. The option to use the speaker without the bluetooth would have made it far easier to use. By comparison to the Aukey eclipse bluetooth speaker i used to have, which was around half the price, the sound quality is not as good. The Eclipse had a richer quality of bass and a more rounded sound, this speaker by comparison has more of a tinny top end.

I work in a professional kitchen and my blue tooth speaker i have had forever died on me. My wife got me the JBL Flip5 as a replacement for Christmas and I couldnt be happier. Super easy to set up and use. Sound is amazing and it is just the right size. Not too big, not too small. Super portable and gets louder than needed. We listen to music every day in the kitchen while we are working and usually have it turned up louder than we probably should This speaker delivers I highly recommend it for anyone.

Disclosure I have been a fan of JBL speakers and sound since the early midseventies. We are talking JBL L100 speakers in my college era. Currently have a set of MR26 bookshelf speakers and for headphones the JBL Everest 310s. Portables are a black Flip 3 and a red Flip 4. And over the years a number of other JBL products. For the past week I have been using the new Flip 5 hard and loud. Mostly when doing yard work or a project in the garageshop. I should note the temps were in the mid 80s and the humidity was 50 to 80. The Flip 5 spent a number of hours in direct sunshine without issue. With the idea of the hardest sounds to produce are the human voice and the piano, that is where I began listening. Be the piano a piece from the classical era or rocknroll the sounds produce were quite acceptable. Podcasts were very understandable. Tend to think the female voice was a touch better than the male voice talking and chatting. Over a broad spectrum of music from the Big Band time frame to current Country and Western overall quite pleasing. From the Flip 3 to the Flip 4 to the Flip 5 there has been a small increase in size with each model. Not enough to make any difference. There has been a boost in the bass output, not major but noticeable. I am thinking that is what the market is demanding. For rocknroll not a bad thing. As for battery life, too early to tell. Seems I get a lot of hours playing and just plug in and walk away to charge. Charging may not be that fast, but a slow charge is preferred over fast charging, cause it is easier on the battery. my opinion. Switching to a type C connection a good move. More universal.I felt the Quick Guide was a little skimpy and to qualify that statement I am 60 plus and consider myself semitechy. The warranty booklet with he super small printing, I was not able to read. So onto JBLs website and look it up there. Hooking up the blue tooth to my smart phone was simple and straight forward. Almost as easy with my desktop computer. The biggest drawback is the lack of any sort of input such as a 3.5mm stereo inputfrom another source. I use my Flip 3 Flip 4 as a mini soundbar from inexpensive bedroom TVs.I have no problem recommending the Flip 5 to virtually anyone. It does a very good job for being priced at 99 and change.

This speaker sounded good worked great with my iPad and iPhone yet would not work with my Apple mini computer. Had a staccato sound, cutting out every couple of seconds. Called JBL Apple numerous times trying to problem solve. Invested a lot of time trying to resolve the issue. Extremely frustrating. Not happy with JBLs customer service. Since I bought it for use with my computer I had to return it. Really wish it wouldve worked for my intended use.Command buttons hard to locate. Since they are the same color as the exterior they dont stand out. Hard to find.

Trying to use the app for this speaker, JBL Connect, on Android is just painful. Specifically, trying to pair two PartyBoost speakers in stereo is like having a root canal. If you dont believe its a common issue, check the other reviews in the Google Play Store. The app cannot reliably show the proper connection status of your speakers, and it takes quite the and I dont use this word lightly RIGAMAROLE to get two paired in stereo. And if, by chance, the gods have blessed you and you get them connected in stereo, it may only stay this way for a few minutes before disconnecting or switching back to mono. A mainstream tech product should not have an application thats this frustrating and broken in 2020. It completely ruins the experience of an otherwise nice line of speakers. At the time of writing, JBL Connect for Android was on version 4.7.12. JBL, I hope you appreciate the feedback Ive provided you. I hope you understand that the product did not meet my expectations.

I needed a new speaker to replace another portable that was no longer functioning. I had read reviews of the JBL Flip5 and decided to give it a try It has exceeded my expectations in everyway The sound is crisp and clear….as with other reviewers, Im somewhat at awe with the volume and sound quality this small speaker puts out. Battery life is very good. It last the roughly 10 hours advertised depending on the volume you listen at. Intuitive controls and pairs up easily via Bluetooth. All in all, this is a great speaker and well worth the price.

The sound quality is wonderful. The bass response is undeniably better when compared to the competition as well as the battery life. The build quality seems decent so far, although I have only had it for a few months and I really love the color assortment mine is blue. It comes in a nice foam case which is well made and will help to protect my flip 5 when I store it which was a nice addition to find. Bluetooth connection is fast and reliable, the same I have found as with the JBL headphones. You can get a very cool silicone carrying case, so you easily hang it off your shoulder and take it anywhere. You can accidentally drop it in the pool and wont hurt anything. I would be willing to buy another compatible speaker at a higher price, to connect them utilizing the Party boost feature since the older models are not compatible , providing it had more features such as speakerphone, use as a charger for my phone, auxiliary input or even an FM tuner or memory slot.

Ive never bought a speaker before. My bf has Sony and wasnt impressed with its short battery life and the charger had stopped working. A friend has JBL. I researched both Sony and JBL speakers. I wanted something that wasnt crazy expensive but had long battery life, good volume and bass and could fill a room. I love that its made from recycled plastic that made me feel good about the purchase. My bf was very impressed with its packaging when it came. It has great volume, a cool thing on the side that vibrates with the bass, and the battery lasts FOREVER. As in it lasted over 2 weeks before I had to charge it. Very impressed.

For what its worth Im a professional musician, songwriter and hobbyistweekend producer, so i have A LOT of speakers around the house lol. JBL makes a lot of different Bluetooth speakers, but this one strikes the best balance between size, sound quality and overall usefulness IMO. I absolutely love this thing, and for the money you really cant beat it, especially if you get it on sale. Built like a tank. Amazing bass response. Truly hi Fi high frequency sparkle. Cranks for its size too. I usually cant put this thing past half volume. Just buy it. This is the one youre looking for.

I bought 2 x JBL Flip 5s so that I could stereo pair the speakers. The sound in stereo is better than any other speaker price for price. Truly amazing for the size and price. So… Why not pack and sell them as a pair And… Why not make it easier to link them in stereo The party boost button mode links them in boost mode, perhaps a firmware upgrade double press for Stereo pair At the moment you have to use the JBL Connect App to switch to stereo, and then it forgets the stereo setting if you power off, or reconnect to a new device. Also with Bluetooth Turntables becoming a thing, you cant link these in stereo from the turntable. Putting limits on your own market. Never get in the way of someone trying to buy your product. Another way around would be to create an intermediate Bluetooth link device that could allow JBL speakers to be linked in Stereo, Quad, Surround, or add a subwoofer, controlled by a standalone box. More profit as we are all forced to buy another device All of this because together as a stereo pair these really shine

I bought 2 of these specifically for PartyBoost function, particularly because 2 of them form a good wireless stereo system. I use it to listen to music while I work. Impeccable sound, simple to connect, blocks out all surrounding sounds. The hiccups are something that is pretty particular to my use case1. Since I use them at home, I was going to keep them plugged in so I dont forget to charge them. Oddly enough, my laptop cant connect to them while theyre plugged in. At all. Once the speaker even froze which I didnt think is possible. It unfroze, however, once I unplugged it from power. So theyre really meant to be used as wireless only.2. PartyBoost works well most of the time, but from time to time the secondary speaker gets spotty connection. I dont move them and theres nothing in between them but air. So far I could always fix it by disconnecting the speakers from each other and reconnecting. Simple button press, nothing but an inconvenience.

I got this to replace a JBL GO which I really liked as well, but I wanted something that could fill a room with sound but also be portable. I also have a JBL Charge 3 which is great, but is a little to big just to toss in my travel bag. The Flip 5 is the perfect size for travel, comes with a wrist strap and you can even use the styrofoam case it comes in for travel protection. The sound on flip 5 is great, good bass, mids, and highs. It sounds very similar to the charge 3 I have and can easily fill a room with sound. I also used in our back yard and you can clearly hear it through out the yard. Friends even commented that they thought it sounded great for such a small speaker.ProsGreat SoundLong battery life listening at a lower volume setting I got 24 hours of chargePartyboost connected quickly and easily to my JBL PulsePortableNice looking ColorMade from recycled plasticCharges quicklyConsNo auxiliary jackThe volume, play, and partyboost buttons are sorta on the backside of the flip making it hard to seeuse them.NeutralsNo Charging blockNo microphone to use for callsPartyboost doesnt work with older JBL devicesThe flip 5 is great if you want a good portable speaker that sounds good. Not all bluetooth speakers are created equal. JBLs new Flip 5 bluetooth speaker is packed full of JBLs quality sound as well as some great features making it a top performer. I love the size of the JBL Flip speaker. It is about 7 long and about 2.5 3 round, or almost round. Dont let the small size of the Flip 5 fool you, it sounds incredible laying flat or standing vertical on either end. The legendary JBL sound that comes from this baby is nothing but astonishing. It has powerful bass that you can actually feel with plenty of power to drive crystal clear music that will get any party started. With its waterproof design, 12 hours of playtime, and all the very cool vibrant colors, this is the perfect bluetooth speaker to take with you on any adventure, rain or shine. With JBLs Party Boost you can connect two Party Boost compatible speakers for a more complete stereo sound. You can also link multiple Party Boost speakers for a larger party. Easy bluetooth 4.2 connections, to two devices at the same time, can provide continuous music playing from two different sources to keep the party hopping. This is one of the most versatile, best sounding, and feature filled bluetooth speakers I have ever owned. I highly recommend this speaker to everyone who loves to take their music with them on their daily adventures.

I have the JBL Flip 4 personally and have loved it. We were looking for nice Associate gifts and I started looking at the JBL Flip 5. It is great that customization is offered. The online design tool has limitations and some of the color options for casing and base are not clear for matching purposes. When I called in for assistance, the support team could not help. They were friendly and all of that but were not able to help. I did end up ordering 55 of these customized with our company logo etc. The finished product is nice and I hope that I can get the remaining 25 that I need soon.

I purchase this as a Christmas present for my son. I was thinking about a Beats Pill but didnt want to pay that kind of money. So I decided to call Richer sound for advise the sale person was so informative and suggested this product. I read further reviews online and was happy with reviews and suggestions. THE JBL Flip 5 is the best choice ever, my son was jumping out of his skin when he opened. The sound is brilliant for his type of music, great volume and the bass. The size of the flip is superb, can be carry in luggage without taking up too much space. Thank you Richer Sound, without your advise I would not have purchased

I was asked by a relative to find a speaker that could be used with their iPad in the household.I didnt really know what to get, as I dont use too many mobile devices. But others suggested getting a Bluetooth speaker instead of a wired one.I looked at cheaper and smaller speakers, but they didnt have good arrangements for holding themselves up. The JBL Flip 5, by contrast, can be used on its side or standing up.It turns out that the Bluetooth connection is extremely reliable, and not very demanding. So it is now serving as a very loud, very portable speaker for an iPad. Compared to some of the other devices that Ive had to setup using Bluetooth, this thing is relatively easy. Also, I saw it fall from a table, and it still works perfectly. Charges very quickly, too, and it isnt hard to use.

I bought a Flip 4 a couple years ago after I got tired of spending money on cheap speakers that quit charging after a couple months. I have been extremely careful with this Flip and really only use it maybe once a week in my car. Love the quality of sound, plenty loud enough for me, was very happy with my purchase direct from JBL, looked like there were some expensive fakes on Amazon. Welp, now fully charged it plays 2 or 3 songs and shuts down. Every time. It wont even stay on if its hooked to the charger while I play it. I am ambivalent about how long it lasted compared to the cheap ones, I think its a toss up whats the best use of my money. Disappointed with JBL to put out an inferior product like this.

I got this speaker to have for travel and outdoor use. Its nice and compact, easily fitting into my backpack inside or strapped via the attached cable. The sound quality is good enough to fill an outdoor area. I was impressed that it was able to operate normally even while submerged in the water. It charges via USBC which is nice. That being said the sound quality is not extraordinary, I find that the bass emphasis can be a bit much. I also dislike the fact that it doesnt have an auxiliary input making bluetooth its only form of connection. This is okay because the pairing process is super easy but it would have been nice to include an analog input method.

I was at a Bestbuy store and listened to the Flip 5. I was impressed by the bass quality and loud sound output. The price was reasonable to me. I thought the sound should be good at home. It was easy to pair to my cellphone. I used a music equalizer app called Poweramp which I think is one of the best for android phones. It makes the JBL Flip sound fantastic for a little speaker. I discovered you can if you want a different listening experience just flip the speaker over to the side that doesnt show the JBL logo. You can hear more high end sound with a nice mix of bass. Im satisfied. I found a good buy. Thanks JBL.

Im happy with this speaker overall. I bought my first one when looking to replace a cheaper Bluetooth speaker that died. I wanted to keep in the 100 range and landed on this one. I bought a 2nd for my daughter and she didnt want it so I returned it to Best Buy unopened. Its more than capable of getting louder than Ill ever need and its small enough to not be cumbersome wherever I want to set it down. And, as silly as it may seem, the shoestring has proven to be convenient to hang it up when necessary. Sonically its pretty decent but has some issues in my opinion. The midrange is scooped and the low end is pretty artificially hyped. Great for hip hop and more simplistic dance music but A lot of midrange detail is lost due to those two factors. Unfortunately, most frequency information in most other genres of music lies in the midrange. I listen to almost every genre of music so that frequency wonkiness is really frustrating to me. At times the low end is overbearing AND sounds like what it is a plastic cylinder. Also, the iPhone app is worthless unless you have two speakers. Its only function is to turn them into a stereo pair. Theres no eq or any other type of processing available. I use the eq in Spotify to attenuate the bottom end. That goes a long way but I generally like to not need to use any eq whatsoever. Not really an option with most music on these speakers. The larger JBL Bluetooth speakers are even more exaggerated in the low end and scooped in the mids. All in all, Im fine with it but Ill dump this in a heartbeat if something more natural sounding comes along.

I previously owned the Flip 4. That speaker lasted me like 5 years with daily listening. I personally thought the quality was amazing. So when it died I bought the flip 5. The sound quality of the Flip 5 is not as good as the Flip 4. The Flip 4 sound quality had a warmness to it. The sound kind of wrapped around you. The Flip 5 doesnt have that. The bass on the Flip 5 is not so good. There is definitely more bass on the Flip 5, but more bass doesnt mean good bass. At times the bass can sound flat and generic. Overall this is still a great speaker, better than most out there. The sound quality definitely rivals that of the Bose Bluetooth speaker. With added benefits like the ability to connect multiple JBL Flips together, is pretty ingenious.

Absolutely wonderful product to help you make it a party wherever you go.I bought this as a present for my mother so she could play her music while she was out gardening. The sound is nice, loud, and clear. Loved how easy it was to connect and it has not been an issue for her to operate. There have not been any disconnection issues which is a problem Ive faced on other bluetooth devices.Battery life has not been a worry as it lasts the music marathons quite well.If you are looking for a portable speaker with good sound and that it is easy to use look no further.

I absolutely LOVE my JBL Flip 5 I mean there are SO many amazing qualities packed into this little speaker. I am honestly pleased to say that it has GREAT sound quality despite its size. So its perfect for when I have my friends over for a kickback or when Im studying. Also, the battery life on this thing is unbelievable. I charge it one time and I dont have to charge it again for another 2 days. And I have to mention ITS WATER RESISTANT. So, I have no problem placing it on the edge of my tub while I shower. My karaoke shower time is now 10x better because of my JBL. So to make a long story short. Buy the speaker.Best Buy College Crew members receive products to write honest, unbiased reviews. After reading scores of reviews and digging through numerous sites to get some actual stats, I decided to purchase the JBL Flip 5 over the Sony SRS XB33.My priorities were room filling volume, battery life, and last sound quality. Im going to return this item because it only hit room filling sound. I played this at 6070 volume level and it only lasted an hour and 45 minutes…no party there. The sound is OK at low volumes but when it ramps up, the bass drops out and even the mid level sounds flat. Im just so disappointed because Ive liked JBL products in the past. Ill try the Sony out next.

I purchased the JBL Flip 5 a few weeks ago at my local REI and, I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the speaker. It is driven by one racetrackstyle fullrange driver and a passive radiator on either side and overall it has a pretty decent dynamic range and a surprising bass frequency range. Now, if you are looking for something that is good down to low bass or subbass frequency range, I would suggest you go with something a bit larger like the Charge 5, but if your target is an easily portable Bluetooth speaker that connects to your device easily and wont break the bank, I would highly recommend this product. One of the main downsides to most of JBLs speakers is that there is a bit of a delay between videos on your device and the audio coming out of the speaker, so if you want to have a speaker for watching videos, either go with a speaker in the JBL Clip family or go elsewhere. Another thing to keep in mind is that JBL has a tendency to bring out the bass frequencies with their speakers, and when the bass boost is turned off, the sound signature becomes a bit tinny. There are a lot of good things and a few notsogood things about this speaker, but overall I would recommend the Flip 5 to most people looking into it.

So, this speaker when i got it a few days back on my birthday was incredible feel for me to first hear and feel it. Compared to speakers with walue to 50 with 10 watts not meaning yours Go and Clip models was extremely in top in quality. Sound was also appreciably better.Sound quality for size smaller than ruler really overloudened Bass was as strong as computer speaker and i am literally not kidding. But the deepest frequencies are really notably missing. For Most songs it doesnt mind but for some where it is mainly as a bass it is really notably missing. but expected that when it is ranging from 65hz On higher volumes overall bass is losing its power but still has notable power higher than my old 10 watt 32 speaker. Overall, sound is perfectly balanced.Durability waterproof confirmed, feels like resistance even to a higher fall. Especially passive radiators looks much more resistance from older ones. Battery life feels infinite to me. this will of course change with time passing got TL versionI didnt expected passive radiators to produse such a massive wind it really blows air. Its bass is for me sometimes as massive as from my JBL Partybox 300. also TLNow just hope it will last as long as possible.

Bought this 3 months ago now. Its battery is amazing, holds up great in the rain, snow, on the beach, wherever. Its quality is amazing for such a small, portable, speaker.I have some large sony stereo speakers, and this speaker competes with those. I ordered about fifteen of these for work. I absolutely love the option to personalize this speaker and the sound quality is great. However, it was very difficult to tell whether it had an internal mic. I read everything I could find on the Flip 5 trying to tell for sure. One page on the Harman website said it did and another said that it did not. Reviews said that it did, so I took a chance. It turns out that while the previous version did and maybe the regular Flip 5 does , the personalized one does not. So this doesnt actually does not work for the purpose I needed it for. Since I had mine personalized, they cannot be returned. Its disappointing. At least they look good.

Great product for the price range it is in. I have owned many low priced speakers which usually you get what you pay for. When I bought this product I was blown away. The sound is loud enough to fill a room. The highs and mids are great. The lows do need work as well as the bass. I found out that usually when youre playing music with hard bass it tends to be too much for the speaker to handle. It charges with a USBC cable and is also waterproof. The design looks good and the battery life could be better. Usually I play my music for the gym so I blast it at full volume. It tends to last around 45 hours for me on full volume. Overall great product for its price.

Good little portable speaker, easy to setup and use. Was tossing up between a couple of other brands but think I made the right choice based what I required. Sound is pretty decent clarity and directional, sound is sometimes a fraction different less bass on different surfaces. Battery life is good after a single charge. Ideal for short trips away or at the beach. The only downside is you cant adjust the EQ settings via the app but you can do so via your source or streaming app. No big deal, still decent.

This is my second JBL Flip purchase and how disappointing it has been. I loved my previous JBL 4, which was the right combination of good reliable sound and reasonable price until the USB charging port got loose after just over 2 years of use despite good care. So not great on reliability. But I was prepared to give this brand another go. Received my JBL 5 which straight away wouldnt work with my iMac fine working with phones. It would connect but then the sound would be bitty, skipping with on occasion a couple of very loud cracking sounds. Plenty of troubleshooting later, involving the Harman customer service, their repair team, Apple support, trials of different speakers etc., I was eventually told by the Harman consumer support that connection to laptopdesktop is not a supported use. When asked where this was indicated in the specifications for the speaker, the answer was that it is not indicated as it is not a supported use I will be taking my custom elsewhere and suggest you may be wise to do so too…

I want my money back Whatever better sound quality, which is questionable. These slow to connect short range speakers have to be rebooted to reconnect if you should step out of range. They dont automatically pair with other JBL products. You have to download an app Once downloaded, it takes forever to find both speakers and gives me different directions to get them connected. Sometimes I have to push a button on the speaker other times not. ALL AROUND PAIN IN THE NECK to get sound outta these paperweights. Not worth the added cost.

Got two of these black Flip5s and always put them of party mode stereo LR about 68 meters apart. Mid and high tones are on point although lacking a smidge on low bass but impressive nonetheless given its sheer size. All in all, output of sound given its price is amazing. Highly recommended especially if you pair it up with the new Boombox2 if your craving that extra bass as I was. I simply 3 all JBL Harman range. I have had my Flip 5 for almost a year now. It has been a fantastic speaker. The size is good to bring hiking, kayaking, boating and more and the weather resistance brings peace of mind…mine has been wet a few times and it keeps on rocking. Dont let the small size fool you, there is great sound and tonal range from this thing which is exactly what youd expect from JBL. Even at higher volumes it can fill a good size room with great sound and no distortion. Battery life is great and the bluetooth syncs up every time. Auto power off to save battery when the source gets to far away. I like this enough that I am getting another so I can have one inside and one outside without missing a beat.

This is my 4th JBL Flip speaker…the first of the Flip 5 generation.Easy to pair with solid sound from such a small speaker. The JBL software allows you to link several speakers together too. The software is fairly easy to figure out…could be easier and Im hoping that JBL continues to improve the app.My only complaint is overall quality. Every one of my prior speakers has died 1 had batteries that went bad after 1 year and the other 2 had both failed batteries after 1 year as well as blown speakers. Note Im not a huge bass or super loud kind of person, so its not from playing music too loud.Overall, not a bad speaker…may need to explore other options if this one fails

Deeper bass, but the highs are lower than the Flip 4 The sound can sometimes seem muffled. Could you please add inside the Flip 5 a native equalizer configurable through the JBL Connect App Or at least some presets This would allow users to customize the sound according to their respective preferences. Great added value with low cost impact No retropairing possible This is very annoying and do not meet the user needs at all. The user experience is strongly impacted. A transition phase would have been necessary where the new models support both pairing technologies in parallel, Connect and Partyboost. Please have a look at the competitors No Aux Input This is sad, I was willing to pay a little extra for this. Why JBL removed this input Great Design However I think a pure vertical design would be awesome Moreover, this would better place the centre of gravity and prevents the box from flipping too easily.

I was at the beach and had lost my really old bluetooth speaker so looked online and found the Flip5 was available at the local Walmart. There were a number of models from other manufacturers also in stock and they were less expensive, but I did not even consider them since they all had blinking LED lights. Do manufacturers think that the only buyers of bluetooth speakers are prepubescent kids who are impressed with colorful blinking lightsAnyway, I got the Flip5 and am really glad I did. Amazing sound from a small package. It appears very durable. It has a standard USBC charging port, the same as all our phones, so dont need to keep up with separate cables. Downside for some people may be that it has no 3.5mm input. It is also bass heavy, so you have to adjust your phones equalizer if you want a flat response, but OTOH, it is amazing that a speaker this small can have such a heavy, yet clean, bass. Listening to it about 2 hours per day, the battery lasted all week, which was also amazing.

My son has 2 JBL speakers which have both been excellent and this is a scaled down cousin of those. I wanted it partly so the family can connect their phones when in the bathroom so the fact its waterproof was a big plus point for me.The sound is excellent considering its smaller size although I find its important how you position it eg dont put it vertical and also Ive found it gives a fuller sound with a wall quite close behind the speaker. The onoff and Bluetooth activation buttons need quite a press and dont give a very positive feel. Thats a small gripe for this bargain Bluetooth waterproof speaker though.Hoping it lasts alot better than the LG Oled TV I also bought from Richer Sounds which needs a new panel despite being 21 months old and very well looked after. The lettering also wore off some of the buttons on the within 10months. Neither problem covered by the guarantee.

Great sound that is clear across frequencies, from the highs to the bass. The buttons are easy to press, but not accidentally. Ive only charged my speaker once in the week and a half Ive had it, using it about an hour a day, and it still hasnt hit its lowest battery indication yet. Compared against the iHome speaker Id been using prior to this one, the sound is incomparable in presence. BUT I do have 2 caveats to these benefits occassionally, the speaker will make static bursts when I connect via bluetooth to my laptop no problem with other devices, but Ive found if I turn it on and off it usually goes away although the speaker is very good, 100 isnt nothing and there are many other speakers that give sound quality that is good enough for the average user to be content with. I have a 30 echo dot and, though it doesnt boom quite like the JBL, it isnt as though your ears are built to pick up the absence of sound. Yes, the echo dot may not be nearly as good a speaker as the JBL, but in many cases, it is good enough, and sometimes having both feels a bit redundant.

This is my first bluetooth speaker. I didnt know what to expect, but it paired with my laptop portable jukebox with no issues. For its size the sound was great, the volume was epic. The packing material serves as a case that seems like it will provide near indestructible protection, although it is somewhat clunky. There was no charger or cable included. A C type USB cable is required. The speaker charged quickly from my laptop, I also used a cheap wall charger which also worked fine. I am quite happy with this speaker

Im updating a 3 star review because JBL provided info to correct the issue I was experiencing.First, this speaker is a considerable upgrade in sound from the 3 and 4. The bass is deeper and more detailed than previous versions, and altogether the soundstage sounds good. The volume is loud. It is durable and has a nice design. No problems pairing to Bluetooth and the range is farther than the 3 at least 20 ft but maybe 3040. Battery life has been between 1012 hours on medium volumes. The IPX7 water proof holds up.I bought a second one. The first was the regular and the second the eco. The paired stereo sound is phenomenal I had experienced issues expressed by others, that even with the JBL connect app, the party boost was so crackly and constantly disconnecting that it was unusable. I found a tedious fix but then JBL pointed out I was doing it wrong. Turn on both speakers but only pair one speaker to Bluetooth. Do not pair the second. The app will locate the one paired with Bluetooth. Click the party boost button. It will locate the second speaker. Add that speaker then pick party boost or stereo. Works perfectly each time They do not have a way to remove or edit previous reviews, otherwise I would. So I left that review on the original Flip 5 and this one on the Eco version. They are both the same. The speaker is bigger and heavier than previous versions. It weighs my bag down more but I dont mind. It no longer can answer calls but I dont miss it. So many people have complained about the partyboost pairing but I could not find the fix until JBL responded to my mediocre reviews. The procedure for partybooststereo should be easier to find. So many people on the internet, YouTube and the App Store have complained and said talking to JBL did not help. That is really the only complaint I had related to this speaker.I cant recommend buying two enough Maybe a bigger version has stereo sound, but you can spread two of these around and use either party boost or stereo. I think thatd a way better option

This review was collected as part of a promotion. I was incredibly impressed with this speaker. It was shockingly loud, with solid build quality and the packaging and design of the product being from recycled material just makes you feel good about it. I couldnt believe the put out this speaks has. It was incredibly loud and more than loud enough to get the party rolling in my backyard and front yard depending on where we were. What might be extremely important to note, my wife usually hates when I am auditioning something new, and shes never impressed. This time around she was extremely happy, and pleased. She sat with me for an hour and jammed out. She wanted to chose the songs and hear how they sounded on it. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Connectivity is very good and quick, and the battery lasts a very long time. The build quality is really impressive

I bought a personalized Flip 5 for my mother in law and the picture on it came out perfect. She loves it.However, there are two deal breakers for me The mono speaker, and new speakers cant pair with older speakers. Now the detailsAfter my Flip 3 battery would no longer hold a charge DEFINITELY got my moneys worth out of it, it was a great speaker, I held out on buying a Flip 4 for myself, then waited some more for a Black Friday deal on the 5. Didnt like that the app is required to pair it, but I looked past it. I was satisfied with the speaker until I heard a song Im very familiar with and could barely hear some softer vocals that immediately precede vocals at normal volume on that track Tools The Pot. I assume its due to the fact its a mono speaker unlike previous Flips twospeaker setup. Could only handle that mono speaker a couple weeks before I resold it.

If you have the jbl flip 4 then dont waste your money in the flip 5… Not worth the change. Youre no longer going to be able to make phone calls thru the speaker. Have no idea why they took the microphone off… Im pretty sure theyll put it back on the next speaker cause it was a stupid thing to do to take it off. Another bad thing they did was to make it a mono speaker, only one speaker in the front, didnt like it. It does sound a little louder but not worth the change if your flip 4 is still in good shape. If you have older version of the speaker, you will not be able to link it to the flip 5… On that one Im not sure about but thats what I heard. It still a beautiful speaker dont get me wrong, but its taking features that were part of the good thing that had the JBL flip speakers.

Dont buy unless you want to spend your time with beta software issues. No more JBL. Nice speaker. Horrible software. Same goes for wireless headphones. I got these speakers for a couple of months now. ALWAYS disconnecting. Its so annoying. JBL recommends to reset the speaker. That works for a couple of days until…. well exactly it starts disconnecting again. Its a waste of money. I wrote a couple of times to customer service, they could not care less. The confirmation links in the email NEVER works. JBL, good bye. I like the sound, but the rest is not worth the hazzle.

Good sound quality great for the size soso app Android bad documentation. My Flip 5s I have two are v0.5.6 firmware. The Flip 5 sounds great for its size. The bass does roll off the louder you listen. It does have a mild audible background hiss during playback if youre sitting close and the audio is quiet. It attempts to conceal this and perhaps save power by muting the output during audio silence. If you listen to podcasts this may be annoying. Some podcasts use noise gating in their audio which means the Flip 5 is constantly muting and unmuting the output between words or sentences when the person talking pauses. The problem here is that there is a slight audible popping sound in the Flip 5 when it unmutes. In music this doesnt seem to be happening because there is no true silence in a song, but it could happen between songs. The JBL app is okay, not great. It requires location services be enabled to work. The app wont connect to a Flip 5 that is in PartyBoost or Stereo mode. It prompts you to take the Flip 5 out of PartyBoost Stereo mode providing incorrect instructions on how to do a short press of the PartyBoost button on speaker is the correct way.Contrary to the documentation the PartyBoost vs. Stereo setting does not stick. If you power off the Flip 5 it returns to PartyBoost mode. There is also no way to switch to Stereo mode without the app. So if you want to use a pair of Flip 5s for stereo with another Bluetooth audio source like a PC or MP3 player, you need your phone, use the JBL app on the phone to set the first Flip 5 to Stereo, then disconnect your phone from the Flip 5, connect the other BT audio source to the Flip 5, and then add the other Flip 5 using the PartyBoost button on each. The Stereo setting should stick through a power cycle, and there should be a way to switch between Stereo and PartyBoost modes without the app. Specifically by using some sequence or combination of button presses on the Flip 5, like a double click of the PartyBoost button when you have two speakers linked, or holding down the PartyBoost button and pressing another button. Sonys BT speakers can be put in and out of their Stereo Pair mode without an app with just the buttons on the speakers.

The sound is a definite upgrade for the Flip 4, however it DOES sound noticeably more compressed. I have 2 major complaints with this speaker, and ALL buyers should know 1. THIS DOES NOT LINK WITH ANYTHING USING CONNECT. Per their own tech support, none of the old speakers will pair with the new ones. The Flip 5 currently ONLY pairs with other 5s, the Pulse 4, and the Boombox 2. 2. The Bluetooth version is old, and theres no excuse for this is accordance with its release date.

I purchased a Flip 2 years ago and absolutely loved it. It just broke a few weeks ago so I figured Id buy the latest and greatest. The Flip 2 was always impressive. The compact size, build, epic sound quality, and volume of sound from such a small package. When I purchased the Flip 5, it is way bigger and more impressive looking than its predecessor. I was expecting much better performance, unfortunately that was not going to be the case. To begin with, the storage case is just a big hunk of Styrofoam. No neat, smooth looking shell like the Flip 2. After hooking up my phone and selecting different types of music, The Flip 5 just doesnt have the robust sound of its predecessor. Whats worse, is there is no option to customize the sound directly, without having to download an app separately. The sound is adequate, and more or less clear, but it does have a lingering cabinet effect, also the volume just doesnt quite stack up. The appearance is probably the strongest quality. Very cool exterior, quality paint and build. I think appearancewise, it is very nice, but the most important thing is the sound, and its just not quite there. Very disappointing.

This review was collected as part of a promotion. Use I use this speaker mainly at the beach on the weekends. Being at the beach, Ive handled it with wet hands, so I definitely needed a waterproof speaker. Ive used it on 3 Beach trips and I have to finally charge it. So its been maybe 89 hours Design It feels really durable A little on the heavier side, but that helps make it feel more sturdy. The rubber is very smooth, grips nicely, and feels nice to hold. The headphone jack was taken out going from the flip 4 to flip 5. It doesnt affect me as much because I typically work with the Bluetooth connection but it was an interesting design note. I did wish the USBc charging port came with a protective flip cover though. That would be a nice small detail to have especially for people using it at the beach or outdoors. Sound The volume goes up pretty loudly and the bass is really nice and clear. The sound is balanced and travels well against the waveswind at the beach. Excited to use it in my house and at the pool Connections super easy to connect to my Google pixel 2 phone. The Bluetooth was not upgraded to 5.0. I havent had the need to connect multiple speakers in tandem so I havent encountered issues with the connectconnectparty boost connectivity issues, but may be something to consider in the future when upgrading speakers. May just buy multiple of the same ones. Overall, even if its a mono instead of dual, its a great little speaker that packs has really rich sounds with a nice bass LOVE IT

I bought this Flip5 to use with another one I received as a gift so that I could use the JBL app for stereo. The sound quality is amazing for a speaker this size. I compared it to comparable Bose, Sony, and other devices on display in the store. This has smoother midrange and better highs. It works great with Android, but unfortunately JBL doesnt support an app for stereo devices running Windows 10. I hoped to be able to also run stereo with my laptop, but can only use one speaker in mono with Windows. Thats the only reason for four stars. JBL rep agreed they need to support Windows.

Dont be fooled by the size of this speaker Connection was super easy, battery life is great But, the most surprising thing about this speaker is the sound quality. Its loud if you want it to be, and the bass output for such a small setup was surprising I was overly impressed by how this little speaker could put out some very respectable sound quality. I had previously heard this speaker at a water park when a family was using one, and I was impressed with the sound quality of it. Went and bought one after hearing it right away, and it has been my go to speaker for nights out on the patio at home You wont be disappointed if you get this for yourself. Plus, its water resistant and comes with a pretty decent carrying case. And, it has USBC quick charging, so you cant beat that

I am the purchaser of multiple JBL speakers i have bought a JBL Flip4 for EVERYONE i know. I have an entire crew i ride bikes with, and for christmas I bought them all the JBL Flip 4s because of the connect plus feature. This allows multiple speakers to sync and play music all at once. GREAT FEATURE LOVED IT Everyone could jam to the same tune. AMAZING However, I recently had my flip 4 stolen and could only find a flip 5 in a pinch, so i purchased this model. It sounds great, has a little more punch than the 4, however, JBL decided to abondon connect for an all new feature which leaves my new speaker high and dry when listening to music with everyone else. Everyone else can connect, but the new feature does nothing for legacy speakers. It is poor to just abondon a protocol for a new protocol with no REAL heads up. I also assume somehting could be done to account for someone who has purchased multiple speakers with the old protocol. This is the biggest reason for the poor score, its not the speakers fault, it does sound great, but something that was so important to me is changed without better messaging. So if you own legacy products with connect, avoid all new JBL products. I am trying to find a used JBL flip 4 now.

Great sound, and I have been able to connect my laptop and phone via bluetooth, though it took a little work, particularly on the laptop not sure if its a matter of time or of pairingsearching order. Because there is no 3.5mm port on this generation, I bought a bluetooth transmitter to plug into my old iPod video, and while I hear the linked noise from the speaker, music from my iPod will not play from it. However, I dont know if the speaker, transmitter, or iPod is to blame here. I chose the 5th generation because it charges with USBC faster and reviews tell me the Bass is better. I wish I could just plug my iPod in, but otherwise this product delivers as promised

I have only had this unit for a week to review for the company. My personal opinion is that it is a great little unit. I like the fact it is waterproof if you get it wet. It is connected to your smartphone or other devices that have Bluetooth capability. It has a rubber covering to protect it if you would drop it. The sound is unbelievable for the size and has a high volume without distorting. It has a great rich sound and a lot more base then other cheaper speakers that I have tried. The battery has lasted roughly 10 hrs and it should get better after you charge it a few times. One feature it has that I cant test is it has the capability to connect up to 4 of these speakers by Bluetooth for parties.

I was pretty bummed that its speaker was mono. No Im not going to buy another one just to get the stereo effect. I knew something was off as soon as I heard it. It had a pretty dull sound to it. After I thought about it, I felt that for the price, it wasnt a good purchase. It did have decent volume though if thats what youre looking for. I returned for the flip 5, and bought the charge 4. I had the same issues with the speaker. Mono And that was 179 speaker Come on JBL. I do like your stuff, but this wasnt for me. People say that stereo wont matter because the speakers would be too close to tell. Umm. Yes you will be able to tell the difference. I returned the charge 4 and got a Sony XB33. Much happier Much better sound quality, and stereo And you can change eq settings through an app with Sony 30 dollars cheaper too

I have two Bose Bluetooth speakers attached to two MEE Bluetooth audio transmitters. Easy setup with excellent sound. BUT, I decided to try the new JBL Flip 5, first because of price, but secondly because my JBL car speakers produce excellent sound. I am not disappointed. The JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker produces excellent sound quality at all ranges. I do not hear any harmonic distortion at any range. Super speaker for the price and easily pairs with my MEE audio connector. Go JBL

Pros The sound is great in a smallmedium room. Placement helps a lot. The bass is great considering the size of the speakers. Perfect for the bathroom. Has a very lightweight storage case. With occasional use the battery lasts a long while. Nice sleek design and has a thin rope to hang up if needed.Cons The bass speakers at the end are unprotected. Its so easy to poke a finger into it and perforate the speakers. The mesh looks smart but can hold dust.

This is my first portable speaker so I dont have a anything to compare it to. That being said I absolutely love this thing. Having read various reviews pros and cons equally I can say that Flip 5 exceeds my expectations fully. The speaker is user friendly and has some heft to it while not being all together clunky. The sound quality is top notch too. The bass is powerful the overall loudness is strikingly good. I dont know yet how long it holds a charge but it came right of the package ready to go. Highly recommended

This review was collected as part of a promotion. 1st thing I received this from JBL complimentary BUT I am eager to review it. That said, I would enthusiastically order it at full price Easy to connect, holds a charge and OMG the sound It has a great bass based sound…so much better than most speakers NOT named JBL. If youve heard any other JBL speakers I have the Jembe attached to a PC you know what I mean. This is a heavy speaker, and I mean by weight. Thats the only way to get a full sound, IMHO, there are no shortcuts to a pounding bass. There are buttons to adjust the volume, and to pair via Bluetooth, but no ability to directly connect. Charged it once, and its still going 3 weeks later. Its waterresistant…or as they say Water Proof…. not sure Id drop it in the Ocean, or a pool for an hour, but it appears to be just fine for use in watery areas like your shower or the pool. The sound will easily overwhelm your shower, and will easily fill a household or condo pool area. Theres also a means to link more than one speaker got some friends to fill a larger area. Its called Party Boost, and that also seems enhances the bass in my experience. Dont know how it handles that, but theres an app to download. I was able to connect to my phone, stream an app, walk around the condo 1200 sq ft and it didnt drop out at all. I also used it in my car better sound than the same station on the radio…

Size This size is neither too small or too large , its just rightThe buttons for controls are easy to accessFunction The sound is comparably with Bose. It is very easy to use and understand.Style I really love the style of this speaker The hand strap is very useful and the knot at the end of the tie is beautifully orchestrated. You can tell a lot of thought was put into this product. The loop may be a little small to hang around large hands, but it works perfectly for mine. You can also hang it from anywhere. The color I received was blue and has sleek design which fits in your hand perfectly.Packaging for this product was impressive. The carrier that holds the unit is well made and the outside container was attractive and not over done so it makes me happy that there are not excessive packaging as you see with competitors.I also like the fact that it is waterproof so I can take it anywhere I cant wait to use this on my camping trips

One morning, after almost 2 years of owning this and loving it, it started turning itself on and off repeatedly. It only stopped when I plugged in to a power source. I emailed support. They told me since its out of warranty, it would cost more to repair it than if I just bought a new one. They offered me 20 off a new one. Really Thats your fix Our product is crap, but spend a hundred bucks again. Well, I washed it off and it stopped turning on and off by itself. But now it turns on for a few seconds and then turns itself off. I tried factory resetting it and it wont reset. So now Im stuck with a useless pile of metal and plastic. And you want me to buy again from you I think you forget you are not the only speaker compan yon the market. And my money will no longer go to you since your tech support is a joke.

I bought 3 of the flip 5s in hopes to use them together playing off 1 cell phone for our upcoming wedding. I just unboxed the 3 speakers and was pretty easily able to get all 3 playing together off my cell phone. I think it uses the party boost to do this. Didnt need to download any app. You press the infinity symbol on each speaker and it links them. I put them in 3 different rooms in my house and all worked. Excited to use these in the future. The boxing and Styrofoam type case are well designed and a nice addition.

The sound is amazing but I wish it came in stereo. I bought two speakers to get the full stereo effect but you most program them each time to get stereo through a cell phone app which takes time. If for some reason you loss your Bluetooth signal momentarily it goes out of stereo mode and must be reset again. Instructions say once two speakers are programed to stereo mode it sets them to default to stereo and you dont have to reset them each time…I wish that was the case but it never does. Aside from the set up issue they sound awesome but for cost, sound quality and ease of use a much better value for a greatly reduced price and equal or better sound is a pair of OontZ Angle 3 Ultra speakers.

I have a Charge 4 that I cant live without. The problem is the Charge 4 doesnt fit in my Jetski so I bought the Flip 5. Very impressed with the sound, its almost as good as the Charge 4 sound quality. The only thing Im not thrilled with is not having the little stand area the Charge 4 has. It causes the music to sound a little flat. My husband built a little stand for it to get off the table and fixed it. Sounds great if hanging by the strap though. Fits inside Jetski and that was the goal. Love these speakers and plan to buy more.

This thing is great. I primarily use it for outside time and it delivers. Its small enough to fit in the bottle holder on my bike. Its loud enough to fill up our outdoor space of about a third an acre. The best thing so far though is that its surprisingly tough. My 2 yr old decided to take this thing of a field trip around the block supervised and put it through a bit of a beating. Cosmetically it took some damage from being thrown on concrete, but it still works perfectly well. Would have been nice to have one of these back in College.Overall, this is a product that delivers at a reasonable price. Good job JBL

I love JBL products but this is the second time Ive returned a Bluetooth speaker I purchased a Flip 5 since I usually like to stay up with the current generation and sell off my last gen product. Well this time around Im not upgrading Why you ask Because as an owner of the JBL Flip 4, Charge 3 and Pulse 3 I was extremely disappointed to find that YET AGAIN JBL has changed their pairing software. So now I have hundreds of dollars worth of BT speakers that I cant pair together and play in sync. I learned my lesson the second time around. First disappointment was the Charge 4. It has Better base for for sure, but its sound was compressed compared to my Charge 3. So I returned the Charge 4 and purchased another Charge 3. Now the Flip 5 has a similar compressed audio profile but with better base. Either way like the Charge 4 the Flip 5 doesnt sound as good as its previous model. Then add the blunder that is party boost and we have a total failure in my opinion. Oh and they also took away the speakerphone function. Why oh why are you stripping features and parts from your new products JBL not cool

I had the JBL Flip4 before i purchased this one. Its the same sound quality although the BASS is better. However, unlike the jbl flip 4 this one gas an exposed plug in rather than a cover that the 4 has. It also has one strip that lights up for battery power which is hard to tell where the lights at, instead of the easier 3 dots on the 4. Also instead of a REGULAR charhing cord it has its own cord that is inconvenient. I think other thsn the bass being louder the 4 was designed better.

I previously purchased a JBL Charge 4, which is an awesome speaker as well, but wanted something a little smaller. Was going to buy the Flip 4, but waited for the Flip 5 due to it having USB C charging. We use this speaker all the time while cooking in the kitchen or grilling outside and its perfect for traveling. You may be asking why not use the Charge 4 for these situations, but the Charge 4 is much louder at lower volumes and dont want to be that one disruptive neighbor that cranks their music too loud. The smaller size of the Flip 5 compared to the Charge 4 also takes up less room in a backpack, which can be extremely helpful when packing for a trip. If hanging out with friends or somewhere that we can crank the volume or arent concerned about space, its definitely the Charge 4 over the Flip 5. The Flip 5 has great sound, looks good and has great battery life…plus has USB C charging. We have no complaints and would recommend to everyone. We were looking at other brands spent a lot of time playing the demos setup at various stores, but think JBL had the best mix of sound and features especially for the price.

This review was collected as part of a promotion. I have owned JBL portable speakers since the first Flip came out. I was impressed with the first edition and even more impressed with the Flip 5. Out of the box until fully cranking out tunes Less than 2 minutes. Very easily pairs with my Galaxy S10 with no bluetooth lag. The sound quality, both bass and treble, is outstanding. Turned it to maximum volume with a bass heavy song and no distortion. Tried it out with several different styles of music and it is consistently great. Also very clear for podcasts. It is water resistant as advertised. I put it in a sink fully submerged for 20 minutes and it worked just fine after. The speaker itself is light, but solidly built. I paired it with my Flip 4 and they sound great together. A full charge will last about 45 hours at moderateheavy volume. I will be a JBL Flip owner as long as they keep making them so good

JBL Flip 5 has been a great lifesaver for music with superb portability. Its loud even with the smallest setting on the mobile phone. Whether you listen to country music or rock, this thing plays with amazing quality. I have tested the waterproof aspect of the speaker. It dries off quickly and continue to work just fine. It has incredible well balanced sound and excellent bass range. This wireless speaker is rather compact but can easily fill the room with loud, crisp and powerful sound. Im so impressed with the sound qualitybattery life that I gave it a 5 star across the board. With its tough silicone rubber edges, it can easily resist being dropped or kicked. Setup is very easy. Just pair the phone via Bluetooth and then download the JBL app and it will connect automatically. Just bear in mind that it wont connect to flip 4 speakers. The Flip 5 is however, a superior model in all aspects. Sound quality is superb, loud, and crisp and far exceeded my expectations. The bass response is indeed superior to the 4 as well as the battery life. At this price, its a no brainer. Everything about this product is just phenomenal and I could not be happier. Negative Points Only bad thing is that the battery only lasts around 5 hours with full volume. Also unlike previous JBL speakers, the Flip 5 cant work as a Bluetooth speakerphone as it doesnt have a microphone for making phone calls or issuing commands to a voice assistant.

I bought this because even though I have probably a dozen Bluetooth speakers, none of them could be easily attached to my Peloton bike. I know first world problem muchThe Peloton bike has an Android tablet as its screen. The speakers on that tablet are in the middle of the back of said tablet. So when taking a cycling class, the sound is going away from the rider unless using headphones.A couple FB group members suggested the Flip 3. I had some Best Buy member point certificates the Flip 5 was on sale, so I bit. This thing has phenomenal sound. The bass actually kicks for such a small unit thats what she said. It pairs really easy I like the revup connect sound the revdown disconnect. I used it for 13 hours daily for 2 weeks without it running out of juice. When I finally did plug it in to charge, the LED indicator showed it still had just under 12 charge remaining. So cant complain about the battery life. And the red color choice I made actually complements the accent colors on the Peloton bike.I didnt want to spend this much on another Bluetooth speaker, but when its going on a 2200 indoor bike, why not And its turned out to not be just another speaker

The JBL Flip5 is a very good speaker. This item was given to me as a gift, so I decided to give it a try. Now When I looked at this speaker, I thought to myself this little speaker is not going to be putting out any good sound. I was so wrong. It put out very good sound quality. You can even hear some of the base in some of the music. That was very impressive. There is a feature on the speaker I didnt explore because I dont have a second one. You can pair the two and you can use one as the left speaker and one as the right speaker. I wish I did have two, but one is plenty. For example, I had a Halloween party and it was outside. No one really had a radio or any sound system setup for music. I had my Pandora on my phone and my Flip5 in the car. I put it on the table and hooked my phone to it by Bluetooth. Fired up my Pandora and we had a party. I didnt have it halfway up on the volume and you can hear the music inside the house. You dont have to be at your phone to pause the music. On the speaker you have a pause button and a volume buttons for quick access. Also it comes with a cable to charge your speaker, but no brick to plug it into a wall outlet. If you have a computer or another device you can plug your USB cable into, you can charge it that way. When you first get it, it is half charge. My recommendation is just charge it all the way before you use it. Without using the speaker I noticed the charge will last beyond 2 weeks. I used this speaker for about good 4 hours and it didnt drain the battery much. Also the speaker is waterproof. If you have it near any water source, you will be okay. At the party, someone had some drinks and it spilled on it. It was fine. All I did was wipe it and it was good to go. Overall it is a very good speaker. If you need something that has good sound quality, this is the one. I have used many Bluetooth speakers in the past and this surpassed them all. If I had to get another Bluetooth speaker, this would be the one

WOW I have never owned any JBL products and coming from an exclusive BOSE user I am super impressed. The quality on this wireless speaker is amazingly CLEAR. It is super impressive with the volume too especially since its a 7 speaker. The speakers are waterproof, durable, crystal clear sound and easy pair via bluetooth. The battery life is awesome charges via usb, great for parties, pool, beach, park, your backyard, hiking or on the go I highly highly recommend these speakers Im considering on getting this as a Fathers day gift for my dad

I absolutely love the sound this small speaker pushes. This is actually the second flip 5 Ive purchased. After my first speaker was stolen, I tried upgrading to rhe JBL Extreme 2. I liked the bass it produced, but it seemed muddled and completely tanked when it came to kids and highs. The Flip 5 definitely out performs its larger, more expensive cousin when it comes to overall clear quality and impressive bass for such a small package.Cons no built in mic for ios android assistant or speaker phone. No USB port to plug your phone into, and no aux in. Not backwards compatible with previous versions of JBL Party Play tech.
